JERICHO!
Created by George Perez and Marv Wolfman
the DC comics superhero Jericho debuted on Tales of the Teen Titans #43 in June 1984.
When the character was being developed for publication both creators wanted to distance The New Teen Titans from the Popular Justice League comic book
Originally most of the members of the Titans were young protégés of several members of the Justice League
To counteract this several brand new characters were introduced to the team
The introduction of Jericho was critical to making the New Teen Titans a standout comic book in the 1980s
Real name Joseph Wilson
He is the son of Slade Wilson and Adeline Kane
His parents previously enjoyed a successful career in the United States Army
Which is how they met fell in love later married and with the birth of their son Grant, started a family
It was during his time in the army that Slade Wilson took part in a secret government experiment
This experiment was intended to create powerful biologically enhanced soldiers
The experiment granted Slade enhanced physical abilities
Combined with his combat skills he became the infamous Mercenary and Assassin known as
Deathstroke the Terminator!
Slade Kept his life as Deathstroke secret from his wife
Deathstroke family continued to grow with the birth of his second son Joseph
Joseph was sensitive and thoughtful and not interested in combat training like his father and the older brother
Instead with the support of his mother he reveled in traditional fine arts and music
The Wilsons enjoyed a stable family life despite having a secret mercenary for a patriarch
This was all torn asunder when one of Deathstroke's enemies struck close to home
One night an old foe of Deathstroke's, the villainous Jackal, kidnapped young Joseph
the Jackal used Joseph as a hostage in an attempt to extract information from Deathstroke
It was at this time that Deathstroke revealed the truth about his mercenary work to his horrified wife
Together they went off to rescue their son
Face to face with the jackal the couple demanded their son back
Deathstroke refused to negotiate due to personal principles
Adeline was appalled to see her husband elevate his professional reputation above the safety of their son
The Jackal still had Joseph held at knifepoint
Overconfident Deathstroke risked attacking the Jackal's henchmen to free Joseph
Unfortunately in the scuffle Joseph's throat was slashed
Although surviving the ordeal the injury severed Joseph's vocal chords
Joseph was now completely mute
Adeline was now furious
Knowing that Deathstroke was willing to put their family at risk was unforgivable
Overwhelmed by her rage Adeline plotted to murder her husband
Confronting him with a gun while his back was turned Adeline attempted to fire the killing blow to his head
Deathstroke's powerful reflexes allowed him to dodge the fatal gunshot
Though the bullet blew out his right eye Adeline would then file for divorce and take her sons into her full custody
Years later after developing a renowned reputation and career as a mercenary and assassin
Deathstroke came into the employ of the Terrorist organization known as the H.I.V.E.
They gave him the assignment of eliminating the superhero team
The New Teen Titans
Initially Deathstroke rejected the assignment, so the H.I.V.E. resorted to employing a new recruit in their organization
Grant Wilson, Deathstroke's eldest son
The H.I.V.E. outfit had granted their personal assassin
the Ravager
The H.I.V.E. provided him with physical enhancements similar to Deathstroke's
Unfortunately the Ravager was being used by the H.I.V.E. to get Deathstroke's attention
The Ravager enhancements proved to be intentionally faulty and wound up killing him while he attempted to fight The Teen Titans
After seeing his son die, grief stricken, Deathstroke blamed the Titans
He vowed revenge against them by assuming the contract Grant made with the H.I.V.E.
Not realizing the H.I.V.E. was really to blame
Later, Deathstroke would attempt to Destroy the Titans by planting the new superhero, Terra into their ranks
She would act as his double agent providing him information that allowed him to systematically defeat each member of a team
Deathstroke was dangerously close to defeating the titans once and for all
Deathstroke's one mistake was his inability to capture the Titans leader Dick Grayson, now calling himself Nightwing
In a moment when Grayson had an opportunity to hide and plan his next move he was confronted by none other than
Deathstroke's ex-wife had Adeline Kane accompanied by her younger son Joseph
During their meeting Adaline told Grayson her history and of her disdain for her ex-husband
That his recklessness destroyed their family and facilitated the death of their eldest son Grant
She wanted to assist Grayson with defeating Deathstroke and rescue the Teen Titans
It was at this time that Adeline introduced her mute, son Joseph who now communicated with sign language
Moreover Adeline revealed that the experiment that biologically enhanced Deathstroke
Caused Joseph to inherit mutated genes from his father resulting in the development of his superhuman powers
Joseph now using the codename Jericho had the power to physically possess other people's bodies
By making eye contact Jericho's body turns insubstantial and instantly in habits the person he targets
While he is in possession Jericho has access to all of that person's abilities
Whether they be physical mental Superhuman or magical
He is also able to tap into their memories, if his target conscious they can express themselves vocally
but they are not able to control the actions of their body as directed by Jericho
If the person was unconscious at the moment of possession Jericho can use their voice to speak
Grayson now donning the new Guise of Nightwing was impressed with Jericho's powers and abilities
He allowed Jericho to join his rescue mission to save his teammates
The Duo were able to rescue the heroes and shut down the H.I.V.E.'s operation
Leading Deathstroke to abandon his contract on the Titans
After this successful mission Jericho was offered full membership with the Teen Titans
He accepted
For many Years Jericho had been an invaluable member of the New Teen Titans throughout many of their adventures
He became a close friend with teammate Raven and nearly sacrificed himself in what appeared to be the destruction of her demonic father Trigon the Terrible
His powers and and the combat skills he learned from his mother came into use on every mission he took part in
His support also played a huge part when he accompanied team mates Starfire and Nightwing on their mission
To liberate Starfire's his home planet Tamaran
He was also more than helpful to the titans when their rescued team mate Raven from cult leader Brother Blood
He developed close friendships with his teammates as they were like a second family to him
Jericho's kind gentle nature endeared him to the Titans and boosted their team's morale
His friends got to know and appreciate his artistic side
He was even on the verge of a romance with teammate Kole before her untimely demise
Everything changed drastically for Jericho and his teammates at the start of the Titans hunt story arc
It all started when the Titans gathered all members for a team reunion celebration
While preparing for the festivities each member was stalked by a mysterious fiend who took them captive
Deathstroke, who now was a reluctant occasional ally to the Titans
Soon found out his son and the rest of the Titans mysteriously disappeared and he started an investigation to save his son and the Titans
Deathstroke's findings, lead him to discover that former Titans members along with their friends and family had been brutally attacked and even killed
Realizing that was probably the same assailant Deathstroke dreaded the same may have happened to his son
Along the way Deathstroke was joined by the mystically powered mother of Raven, Arella
The mysterious feline beast woman Pantha
and the ghostly Phantasm
This rag-tag group discovered those responsible for the disappearance of the Titans were the Wildebeest Society
A group of criminals who functioned as a gang and outfitted themselves with super-strength enhanced cybernetic suits
As it turned out Nightwing was never captured
Rather he secretly infiltrated the Wildebeests in hopes of rescuing his teammates
Unfortunately he was exposed
The Team's fight against the Wildebeest society led them to the Wildebeest secret base where they found Nightwing
It was in this confrontation that the Wildebeest's leader was revealed to be none other than Jericho himself
Jericho shockingly now able to speak, confronted his former teammates as their enemy
How did one of the Titans most cherished members become their greatest foe?
As it turned out Jericho was no longer in control of himself
Previously when the Titans battled against Trigon the Terrible
the Titans were able to defeat him by unleashing the wrathful spirits of the people of Azarath upon the demon
Trigon had previously laid waste to the world of Azarath during his rise to power
When the spirits of Azarath destroyed Trigon they were corrupted by his remaining evil energy and sought out a host to live in
Jericho was the perfect choice due to how his possession power functioned
For years the corrupted Azarath spirits lived in Jericho's body building up strength
The spirits even healed his vocal chords
Now that the evil spirits had complete control of him they could move on to the next step of their plan
Jericho's body was not strong enough to hold all of those spirits in the long run
The Villainous Jericho's ultimate plan was to find new powerful bodies in the form of the Titans
and other superheroes as new permanent hosts for the Azarath spirits
Jericho infiltrated the Wildebeest Society and took it over by Force because they had the technological resources he needed
Here Jericho was able to systematically abduct each member of the Titans along with faking his own kidnapping
With this revelation, Jericho lashed out at his former teammates
He now had incredible new powers most notably a horrifying astral form shaped like a lion
In his attack he was able to destroy the Wildebeest base so that no evidence of their plot could be found
Nightwing and the rest of the team were able to escape the destruction of the Wildebeest base and regrouped at Titans Tower headquarters
While making a plan to foil the Wildebeests and reform Jericho the Wildebeests descended upon Titans Tower
Jericho wanted Nightwing's team dead and ordered the Wildebeests to place bombs all over Titans Tower
The attack was so organized and fast, Nightwing and the others had no chance to defend themselves, all they could do was flee
While they escaped with their lives, Nightwing and his team could only watch Titans Tower explode into a ball of fire
Later nightwing and his team were still reeling from the Wildebeests attacks
Once collected they started an investigation to deduce Jericho and the Wildebeests next move
Suddenly Wildebeest agents confronted the team and abducted Nightwing
Once taken to Jericho's new base Nightwing was thrown in a holding cell to keep him out of the way
Nightwing shared his holding cell with the previous leader of the Wildebeest Society
It was from him that Nightwing learned all the details of how Jericho rose to control the Wildebeests along with what his ultimate plan was
Soon Nightwing's team was able to follow clues that led them to Jericho's new base
They found in New York City high-rise where Jericho last her resided
Once inside they discovered a doorway that opened to an inter-dimensional portal
It lead to the remains of Azarath
Now inside the team had the element of surprise and dropped in on the Wildebeests and freed the captive Nightwing
This was a trick at Jericho used his power to hide within Nightwing
This unexpected twist through the team off balance allowing Jericho to overpower them all
With everyone captured Jericho was able to move forward with his ultimate plan
He prepared to transfer the spirits of Azarath into the bodies of the captured Titans
As the process began there was a moment when the spirits started to leave Jericho that he became himself again
Deathstroke broke through his restraints as he could recognize his son and urged him to fight against the evil spirits
This was challenging as the spirits held strong control over Jericho
Deathstroke could hear his son's true voice call out to him again
Jericho told his father that he could not be saved and the spirit had to be stopped
Deathstroke knew what he had to do
With his trademark sword he grievously ran his own son through, killing Jericho
Compelled to cradle his son's lifeless body Deathstroke was horrified to find Jericho's form crumble to ashes
Nightwing and the others were able to free the rest of the Titans defeat the Wildebeests and escape Azarath
This victory was not without its casualties though
With this battle behind them the Titans held a memorial service to honer all of their fallen allies
Including Jericho
The Titans accepted the death of their friend and teammate Jericho and moved on continuing to operate their crime fighting team
Though many years later Jericho would make a very unexpected return
The Titans would go on to reform into a brand new Teen Titans group
The membership at this time included several new teenage superheroes
As the original teen Titans were by now all adults
While this new group was in the first steps of getting itself off the ground Deathstroke arrived on a vengeful mission
Deathstroke was determined to foil these Teen Titans and break up their team. He was even willing to seriously injure the team to do it
Deathstroke even had some success after shooting the young speedster, Impulse, in the leg
Ultimately the teen titans proved far too tenacious to allow Deathstroke to attack them
the team went on the offensive squaring off with Deathstroke directly
When teen Titans mentors Cyborg and Beast Boy confronted of Deathstroke they learned the shocking truth behind his motivation
Deathstroke was actually Jericho
After Deathstroke killed Jericho he saved himself by moving into his father's body causing him to abandon his own body in the process
For years Jericho lay dormant within Deathstroke
That is until Jericho learned through his father's knowledge that his former teammate Donna Troy
Previously died while on a mission with the Titans
Devastated by learning this Jericho awoke
He also discovered the formation of the newest Teen Titans team and was determined to shut them down
Jericho felt that children should not be active as superheroes and wanted to spare them what he and Donna Troy suffered
Jericho's scheme seems to drive him mad as he was willing to resort to lethal force to disband the Teen Titans
If not for the last-minute rescue of the new Kid Flash
Jericho would have shot Robin to death at point blank range
Jericho resorted to moving into the bodies of other Titans in order to confuse the battle
This worked until the sudden and unexpected arrival of long missing former Titan Raven
Sensing the confused spirit of Jericho, Raven abducted him with the intention of helping him
Then suddenly Raven was abducted herself by a mysterious assailant and vanished
After that confusing battle the Titans confronted a sudden attack at their headquarters the new Titans Tower
the skeleton of Raven's long dead father Trigon arose proclaiming that his daughter now belonged to Brother blood
After defeating the skeleton monster the Titans decided to follow the lead
They did an investigation into their old nemesis Brother Blood and his cultist church
The Titans discovered the Church of Blood's lair and went on their way to investigate
Once in the lair of the titans discovered brother blood and Raven engaged in a bizarre ritual
What's more was the arrival of Deathstroke, now in control of himself
Along with his daughter Rose Wilson now the new Ravager
These two had their own Vendetta against the church of blood and wanted to stop their ritual
This of course resulted in a violent confrontation
Suddenly in the middle of the battle Raven resorted to using her powers and transported the Titans Deathstroke and the Ravager to another dimension
Within they were confronted by the disembodied spirit of Jericho
The fight continued as Jericho was now willing to kill the Titans to stop them from being superheroes
Meanwhile Brother Blood still attempted to complete his ritual with Raven
This caused Raven to release everyone from the other dimension including Jericho
Again created confusion in the battle by possessing people
Then he attempted to enter Cyborg's body through his cybernetic eye which effectively trapped Jericho
After the titans finished to fight defeating the Church of Blood Cyborg revealed the ultimate fate of Jericho
As Jericho was caught in Cyborg's internal computer drives, he was stored into a digital file disk
About a year later the Teen Titans had gone through a massive membership overhaul
What many members did not realize was one of their new teammates was a traitor
They were on a mission to infiltrate the Teen Titans and steal Jericho's disk
The disk had been hidden within an old encyclopedia in the Titan's Tower library, and now it was missing
Raven was the only one who noticed it was stolen and went on a frantic search to retrieve it
After reviewing an old surveillance tape the rest of the Teen Titans realized Raven's reason for leaving the team
Wanting to help her the Teen Titans went on a mission to find her
Meanwhile across the country Raven was being hunted down
She had managed to steal the disk back
But the Titan traitor had sent agents after her
The Teen Titans were getting closer to making contact with Raven as they met with other former Titans she had reached out too
One of the newer Teen Titans, Bombshell, threw the team off track when she accused another new Titan of being the traitor
The Ravager
At the same time Raven nearly completed her mission
She made it to the condemned Church of Blood where she had been revived the year prior
The Teen Titans would soon touch down at the same church and found Raven in the middle of a mystical séance
She was resurrecting her dead teammate Jericho with the disc he was stored on
As Jericho's body rose from the bubbling cauldron the true traitor of the teen titans was revealed
Bombshell!
She really accused the Ravager of being the traitor to ensure the completion of her own mission
Resurrect and kidnap Jericho for her employer
After a confrontational battle defeating Bombshell
The Teen Titans welcomed the revived apparently once again mute Jericho into their ranks
As It turned out the person who employed Bombshell was Jericho's father, Deathstroke
After learning that his newly revived son had joined the Teen Titans Deathstroke was ready for the next step in his plan
Rallying together a group of superpowered teenagers Deathstroke created his own team he dubbed Titans East
This team functioned out as a former island headquarters of the original Teen Titans
Deathstroke's plan was to have his Titans East square off against the Teen Titans
This appeared to be his effort to reclaim his children Jericho and the Ravager who were both now members of the Teen Titans
This was more than just a fight Deathstroke orchestrated elaborate scenarios for the Teen Titans to face
This was intended to torment the Teen Titans pushing them to the brink of madness
This torment rather tested the team's resolve allowing them to show their true strength as a team
Jericho's mettle was especially put on display, as he faced his father head on in single combat
Jericho was truly his old self again
Prepared to risk his life to save his friends
The Battle moved into high gear when the original Titans arrived on the island to aid in the fight against Deathstroke
Deathstroke was overpowered and defeated, but managed to escape thanks to Titans East member inertia
Now far away from the battleground Deathstroke expressed satisfaction that his plan was a success
Deathstroke actually arranged the battle to ensure that the Titans could provide Jericho and the Ravager the family he never could
After the battle with Titans East, Jericho was forced to remain in possession that the powerful Titans East member known as Match
Until a way could be found to control him
Residing and Match for so long was difficult for Jericho as match possessed incredible strength
After this experience Jericho escaped the body of Match, though now he changed for the worst
Next during the presidential election season someone attempted to assassinate the candidates with suicide bombs
The Justice League who stood guard over all presidential rallies were investigating the situation
the Justice League were coming close to exposing the mastermind behind the bombs
Suddenly the Green Lantern attacked his teammates Green Lantern though was not in control of himself
The Justice League realized who was responsible for the bomb attacks
Jericho
Green Lantern refused to be used as Jericho's weapon and psychologically overpowered and expelled him from his body
Once in custody the Justice League determined that Jericho was under the influence of the other psyches his power put him in touch with
Some of these psyches had a dark influence over Jericho and were leading him on a crime spree
Jericho was able to escape the custody of the Justice League and made his way to the base of the newly re-formed elder titans
Once in touch with his former teammates he attacked the Titans and took over his old ally Nightwing
Within Nightwing's mind Jericho was able to explain his actions in full detail
It was here that Jericho revealed to Nightwing that after being resurrected he was always fully capable of speaking
He chose to remain silent to prevent the evil psyches from expressing themselves
The Justice League was correct about the different psyches negatively affecting Jericho
Moreover Jericho was now being overpowered by the psyches of villains he fought as a member of the Titans
Jericho was losing the struggle for control of himself as these villains were forcing him to commit horrible crimes
Next the Justice League arrived at the Titans base realizing that Jericho must have come to get help from his old teammates
This confrontation lead to a chase as Jericho jumped between different bodies even managing to take over Superman's body for a moment
A feat once thought impossible
In this moment Jericho boasted that he was so much more powerful than before
Though Jericho lost the internal battle with Superman and was cast out
Suddenly exposed Jericho used his last ounce of power to escape
After this battle the antihero known as the Vigilante got involved in the hunt for Jericho
Vigilante had been investigating the suicide bombings during the presidential election and was determined to bring the perpetrator to justice
After discovering Jericho was behind the bombings Vigilante spied on the Titans to figure out how to find Jericho
This led him into a direct confrontation with Titans member Cyborg
As they fought Cyborg revealed that he was actually Jericho
The Combination of Jericho's combat skills and Cyborg's powers overwhelmed Vigilante
He chose to flee and when the Jericho controlled Cyborg followed
Vigilante surprised him by stabbing him in the face
Stunned Jericho fled the scene and moved on to another body
After regrouping Jericho was able to move on to the next step of his plan
By this point Jericho had been driven insane by the accumulation of psyches in his mind
The most prominent was the presence of his father Deathstroke's psyche
In Delusions Jericho was berated and taunted by his father
Jericho felt the need to prove himself to his father
He would do what Deathstroke never could
Kill all of the Titans
Jericho put into place a complex plot to lure both Titans teams to a luxury hotel
Once all the Titans were in place. He would set off massive bombs to destroy them all at once
Holding the hotel Patrons hostage the titans arrived to stop Jericho
After a tense exchange Jericho set off the bombs and escaped
The Titans appeared to be buried under the collapse of the hotel
Though he escaped Jericho was still struggling with the powerful psyches inside of him
Running through the streets he was confronted by his father
Again spewing hurtful remarks that his son Deathstroke sent Jericho into a rage
The two engaged in a violent hand to hand fight
In the distance the still determined Vigilante watched their battle waiting for his own opportunity to Attack Jericho
Suddenly the Titans emerged from the surroundings
Jericho was shocked, was this another of his delusions?
The Titans had survived the explosion
The Deathstroke he was fighting was actually the shape shifting Teen Titan Miss Martian in Disguise
His sister the Ravager confronted Jericho
She attempted to reason with him and calm him down
When this approach did not work the Titans trapped him with a device that counteracted his power
Now with Jericho finally captured the Titans were able to take him away to get the help he needed
Or so it seemed
When the Titans left Jericho to be taken into custody the Vigilante sneaked into his transport van
Not able to bring himself to kill Jericho
He knew he had to do something to stop the man once and for all
The Titans soon realized there was something wrong in the van
They tore it open to find a horrible sight
The Vigilante made certain Jericho would never use his power again
Vigilante carved the eyes out of Jericho's face
Now Jericho was trapped in darkness with all of the rogue psyches which haunted him
After this Jericho was committed to a mental treatment facility to recuperate from his wounds
Later Earth superheroes faced a calamity known as the Blackest Night
An evil group known as the Black Lantern's hatched a plan to resurrect long Dead superheroes and villains
The revived were now under the control of the Black Lantern's and used a zombie soldiers
These powerful zombies also went on to fulfill their own personal, vendettas
Deathstroke at this time was in the middle of a fight with his daughter, Teen Titans members the Ravager who at this time had an axe to grind with her father
During their fight Black Lantern controlled zombies of Deathstroke's long dead relatives broke in with the intention of killing Deathstroke once and for all
Seeing her father at the Mercy of her zombie relatives
The Ravager set aside her grudge against her father and chose to help him
Now engaged in this new battle Ravager faced the zombie of her eldest brother Grant Wilson
The Ravager managed to get the upper hand over grant setting him on fire
Then quite unexpectedly before the body was totally consumed in flames Jericho Burst Forth from Grants eyes
A pleasantly surprised Ravager asked, how did her brother find himself here?
Jericho explained after he was committed to the mental institution he was visited by the zombie of his brother Grant
Jericho was nearly killed by the zombie
Miraculously Jericho's eyes had regenerated along with his power
In self defense Jericho was able to possess Grant's body which led him back to Deathstroke and the Ravager
Now caught in this battle with his father and sister Jericho was now forced to help fight off an attack of vengeful zombies
Working together the family was able to successfully fend off their attackers
Jericho skillfully used his power to possess many of the zombies causing them to destroy themselves
For Deathstroke fighting the zombies with his children at his side was a strange bonding experience
This prompted him to suggest the three of them stay together permanently as a team
Deathstroke felt they could truly resolve their issues and become a real family
The Ravager dismissed Deathstroke's suggestion as she thought her father was too crazy to be trusted
Jericho though was willing to reconcile with his father
Especially since he knew that he could depend on his father to kill him if his powers ever caused him to go rogue again
Around this time the elder Titans team had fallen apart
Deathstroke saw this as an opportunity and took over the team with a mostly new membership of supervillains
These were the all new all dangerous Titans
Deathstroke used this team as his personal Mercenary force
Under his leadership, Deathstroke lead these Titans on various missions
These missions were ultimately meant to facilitate Deathstroke's construction of the powerful Methuselah Machine
This machine could resurrect the dead and make them immortal
With the machine now functioning Deathstroke could put it to use on his son Jericho
As it turned out Jericho's body was deteriorating rapidly
On the brink of death Jericho was the first subject of the Methuselah
Once emerged from the machine Deathstroke found his efforts were successful
His son Jericho was renewed and healthy
Deathstroke next offered to use Methuselah to revive the dead loved ones of his Titans teammates
The others all disagreed on the ethics of the Methuselah some feeling that it would be playing God
Their disagreement soon erupted into a full battle over the machine as some wished to destroy it
Jericho though benefiting from the machine did not feel that it was right to use it
Jericho attempted to reason with Deathstroke to accept accountability for his past crimes and not try to use Methuselah to absolve himself
All the fighting led to a terrible brawl between Deathstroke and Titan member Arsenal
The fight among the Titans escalated into the destruction of the Methuselah
Deathstroke and all of his Titans abandoned the site the only ones left remaining were Arsenal and Jericho
Now alone the two former teammates and longtime allies resolved to rebuild the Titans together
Next DC Comics as a company went through a major transition which introduced an era known as a new 52
Many of DC Comics characters were reintroduced and re-imagined in new ways
During this time Jericho appeared once again as the youngest son of Deathstroke
In this version when Jericho and his brother were still children their family home was attacked by enemies of Deathstroke
Jericho and his mother were believed to have died in an explosion in the house
In truth, though Jericho and his mother had survived and lived in hiding
Years later the two of them plotted against Deathstroke in revenge for his choosing to put mercenary work ahead of his own family
A choice which ultimately tore their family apart
While this version of Jericho could speak and possessed similar superpowers, he was no longer a sensitive and thoughtful man
Additionally now he possessed the power of mind control
Now Jericho was ruthless and obsessed with exacting revenge against his father
With the support of his mother Adeline Kane he hatched a plan to reunite his family and confront Deathstroke
Driven insane by revenge, Jericho's true goal was to control the nigh invulnerable super human known as Majestic
He wanted to use Majestic to kill his father as it turned out Jericho was controlling his mother and brother Grant like puppets
With his mother and brother in tow Jericho confronted his father on one of his missions
A battle ensued almost immediately
While they fought Jericho was quickly leading Majestic to their location
When Deathstroke's associate, Lynch, attempted to stop Jericho by shooting him to death majestic arrived to save him
Jericho then sent Majestic on a spree of destruction which accidentally killed Adeline
Deathstroke was now determined to stop his son by any means
He had his ally the, geo-morphic Terra, use her power to trap Majestic in a volcano
This was actually a tactic intended to make Jericho stop the random killing and draw Majestic back to them
Once Majestic arrived Deathstroke and the others fought him in direct combat
When Majestic was beaten into submission Jericho released control of him and took control of his brother Grant
Desperate Jericho threatened to you the sword to Force Grant to impale himself
Deathstroke had no options left
He sprung into action and forced the sword through sacrificing his son Grant to stop his insane son Jericho killing them both
After this tragedy Deathstroke had to abandon the lifeless bodies of his family
Later Deathstroke sought to rescue a newly resurrected Incarnation of his Son Jericho
A mysterious organization known as the League of Odysseus was able to revive Jericho with powerful technology
Jericho was now granted incredible new powers
Odysseus himself, the league's Powerful leader, needed Jericho to strengthen his own power
Odysseus was in fact Charles Henry Wilson
the father and grandfather of Deathstroke and Jericho respectively
After arriving on site Deathstroke raided The League of Odysseus' lair attempting to rescue his son
The league's loyal assassins made that a difficult task
Deathstroke still fought his way out of the lair with his son by his side
Suddenly they were confronted by Odysseus himself
Deathstroke realized that his father was using Jericho and resorted to killing Odysseus to free his son
Odysseus fell before a gunshot and appeared Dead
Jericho thanked Deathstroke for rescuing him
but refused to go anywhere with his father and used his incredible new powers to escape
Odysseus though survived, and he reassembled his league and made plans to recapture his grandson
Deathstroke also wanted to find Jericho to keep him away from Odysseus
Deathstroke found out from his associates that his son had made his way to Gotham City
Discovering this Deathstroke realized Jericho must be trying to connect to his sister Rose Wilson
Arriving in Gotham City Jericho found his sister
This family reunion became more complex once both Deathstroke and Odysseus arrived as well
Odysseus still needed his grandson and attempted to take him captive by overpowering him
Deathstroke and Rose stepped in to stop him, but this exploded into a huge fight
Jericho then used his incredible power to stop the fighting and escape with his sister
After this Deathstroke would spend the next few months searching for his children again
He would find them so this time Jericho had made an ally in the villainous Ra's Al Ghul
As It turned out Jericho had managed to gain sanctuary in Al Ghul's secret fortress
Jericho was able to extend his sanctuary to his father and sister to keep them all safe for a while
Though Al Ghul was determined to make use of Deathstroke as his own personal assassin
Next Deathstroke went on a mission to Handle some old, Vendettas
He brought his children with him as he felt their abilities would be useful on the mission
Things escalated quickly and during a fight and Rose was fatally injured
Thought to be dead Al ghul offered to use his mystical resources to bring the young woman back to life
Though in exchange Al Ghul demanded a lifetime of servitude from Deathstroke
Deathstroke agreed to the terms
Al Ghul with the help of Jericho was able to retrieve Rose's spirit and bring her back to life
Next Jericho accompanied his father and sister on another Mission with Al Ghul
This was to be a final confrontation with Vicki Ruiz, a common enemy of Al Ghul and Deathstroke
Al Ghul intended to Force Ruiz to swear allegiance to him
Deathstroke surprisingly betrayed Al Ghul's orders choosing to Kill Ruiz on the spot
Deathstroke did this to exact vengeance on behalf of his children for tormenting them in the past
Al Ghul, furious called Out Deathstroke for breaking his loyalty
Then Jericho revealed a critical detail about the deal his father made with Al Ghul
After reading Al Ghul's mind Jericho discovered that Al Ghul lied about being able to revive Rose
It was really Jericho who was able to bring his sister back to life with his own powers
Al Ghul simply pretended to guide Jericho and then took all the credit
With this loophole exposed Al ghul confessed It was true and released Deathstroke and his children
After this Deathstroke admitted that he loved his children very much, but he needed to part ways with them
He could not stand to put them in danger anymore because of his work as an Assassin
After one final embrace Jericho and his sister left their father for what would be the last time
DC Comics next established a new storyline known as Convergence in this story characters from various Timelines were
Collected and placed on a world outside of time here many of them relive different phases in their development and fought new battles
During this time a once again mute Jericho was seen as a member of the New Teen Titans
Alongside his teammates He was fighting for the survival of their world
When not involved with the battle he was again being romantically pursued by team mate Kole
As Jericho did not respond to Kole's advances she became very frustrated that she cared deeply for him
Not making the romantic breakthrough she desired Kole settled on making herself available to him as a trusted friend
Jericho continued to work with his teammates until the convergence event was resolved
Next DC comics introduced the rebirth event
This event relaunched the world of DC comics characters refreshing their origins and backgrounds
Here Jericho was similar to his original version
Still Joseph Wilson the younger son of Slade Wilson and his wife Adeline
The veteran military couple struggled to settle into civilian life and start a family
This was made even more difficult since slade would work at the Mercenary Assassin Deathstroke
Adaline was frustrated as her husband would leave her to look after their children alone
Slade's lack of support to their family and Adeline constantly being excluded from her husband's missions took a serious toll on their marriage
One of Deathstroke's missions took him to Cambodia
It was here that he discovered he had an illegitimate daughter with a local woman
Meanwhile back at the Wilson home adeline was frustrated over being excluded from yet another mission
She decided to attempt to rendezvous with Deathstroke and departed leaving her young son Joseph home alone
Unable to make contact with her husband Adeline decided to return she found her home ransacked and her son Joseph missing
One of Deathstroke's enemies used the situation as an opportunity for revenge kidnapping Joseph
Joining forces with her husband they were able to find their son near death with his throat slashed
Deathstroke was able to resuscitate and save their son
But the injury severed his vocal cords leaving the boy mute
An enraged Adeline blamed Deathstroke for what happened to Joseph
She felt that if Deathstroke were not off rescuing the daughter produced from his affair none of this would have happened
In her own act of revenge adeline shot Deathstroke in the back of his head blowing out his right eye
Deathstroke survived the wound but his marriage would not
Joseph grew of raised Mostly by Adeline with limited contact with his father
Considering the injury that her son sustained Adeline provided her son with combat training
She even entertained the possibility that joseph might become a vigilante crime fighter
One of Deathstroke former associates the high tech genius Dave Isherwood became a close friend of Adeline and Joseph
He even suggested the Codename Jericho for Joseph to use
Much like his original incarnation the source of Jericho's superhuman powers came from genes he inherited from his father
While his power allows him to mentally control people and act through their bodies he does not physically possess them
Years later joseph worked as an executive at a tech firm
Though mute Joseph communicated with sign language and made use of a personal interpreter
A woman named Etienne
Secretly though he also made use of cybernetic vocal implants invented by Isherwood
Only his family and close associates knew of the implants
Joseph soon fell in love with his interpreter, and they became engaged to marry
One Night Joseph met with Isherwood who now worked as a superhero Dr. Ikon
Joseph told Ikon about his plans to marry Etienne
Ikon was shocked, especially since he and Jericho had been romantically involved for a while
Jericho assured Ikon that he was very much in love with his girlfriend and attempted to end his relationship with Ikon
Ikon did not think this was right, especially since he was suspicious of Etienne's intentions
Determined to foil Joseph's marriage plans Ikon threatened to expose their relationship to Deathstroke
Joseph refused to allow Ikon to interfere
He unleashed his power on Ikon taking control of his body
Joseph then deactivated Ikon's anti-gravity power suit and sent his body falling off a building
Isherwood's body sustained near fatal injuries putting him into intensive care
After the confrontation Joseph took the Ikon costume for himself
He then took over Isherwood's superhero work now as Jericho
After this Jericho Began having persistent migraines
After seeking a medical opinion Jericho realized the migraines sprung from the guilt he held over betraying the Isherwood
The migraines grew into hallucinations where Jericho relived the night he made Ikon fall from the rooftop
In a panic he hastily set an early wedding date which Etienne agreed to
Despite trying to move forward with his marriage Jericho decided to visit his now comatose former lover in Isherwood in the hospital
Here he admitted that he still loved the man and was sorry for betraying him
What Jericho did not realize was that his fiancee is having an affair with his father Deathstroke
Deathstroke suspects that Etienne is a secret agent and she was only marrying Jericho, so she could spy on Deathstroke better
Etienne denies this and insists that she is really in love with Jericho despite her affair with his father
Jericho next went to visit to Isherwood in the hospital and to his horror Isherwood's condition became grave
In a panic Jericho transferred Isherwood to the care of a trusted physician, Dr. Villain
Villain was able to save Isherwood
Meanwhile Etienne had gotten a hold of Jericho's phone and found romantic pictures of him and Isherwood
Devastated by this discovery Etienne confronted Jericho about it
He reassured her that his relationship with Isherwood was over
In a huff she confessed to him that discovering this made her feel less guilty about her affair with Deathstroke
Despite this they were both still prepared to move forward with their wedding
All this stress, coupled with his guilt over Isherwood caused Jericho to start cutting himself
On the day of the wedding Jericho found Etienne dead in their home
Certain that his father was responsible Jericho appeared at the wedding ceremony and full costume to find his father
Instantly Jericho started a fight with Deathstroke which spilled out into the streets
Deathstroke claimed he did not kill Etienne but Jericho was not easily convinced
During their battle they were overcome with memories of their lives together
Deathstroke refused to fight back and wound up beaten to the ground at his son's feet
As of the release of this media Jericho's story in comic publications continues to unfold and still developing
In other media Jericho appeared in the animated series Teen Titans
Here he appeared very much like his original incarnation and with the same powers
Jericho has also been mentioned in the action television Series Arrow as the son of Deathstroke
Though he has not yet displayed any superpowers or potential to become an active superhero
