Hey guys, so today we are here in my favorite Prefecture in all of Japan
surprisingly it's not so Tokyo. it's actually Fukuoka prefecture and there
are so many things you can do in this prefecture that I want to show you guys in
this video. It's kind of really cool yatai or this kind of cool local
Japanese restaurant that we really want to show you guys, lined up along the
river mostly I believe in this area. There's also Dazaifu Tenman-gū, which
is one of the most popular and famous Tenman-gū in all of Japan. There's also
really cool island that we went to called Nokonoshima, which is kind of this
cool flower park thing that is absolutely amazing. So we're gonna stay at
this hotel which in a really good location here in Fukuoka Prefecture near
all the major stations including Hakata, Gion, Nakasukawabata,
and Tenjin station so we're gonna show you guys what this hotel has, as
well as what this prefecture has to offer so we'll see you guys in the video.
Something that I love about Fukuoka Prefecture is that you can probably get
to all the places that you want to get to all on the same train, making it very
very convenient for tourists. I was lucky enough to embark on this journey with
Fukuoka expert herself Micaela. [Chris] There's Micaela [Micaela] Hi!
So make sure to go check out her channel for little different take on this area.
Our first stop was the Tenjin underground shopping mall that is
absolutely gorgeous. They have all types of stores fitting everyone's needs, so make sure to head down there.
Hey guys so we are right now the Tenjin underground
shopping mall, we want to take a break from shopping because we, me and dan, we uh
we shop so much. We're going to have some Taiwanese tapioca. And if you guys didn't know
Taiwan is very close to Fukuoka. Well not very close but closer to Fukuoka than it
is to Tokyo or those major areas so there are a lot of Taiwanese people here
as well as a lot of Taiwanese influence which is why we got this Taiwanese
tapioca place that we're going to chow down and have a nice break.
This place has tapioca drinks, it's got deserts, as well as tapioca in it, it's
actually got a, it's like a cafe too. There's also like a pastas, it looks like, a noodle-
noodle dishes, so um, yeah, we're going to show you guys what this
cool Taiwanese cafe has in this underground shopping mall.
A'ight guys so we got some Taiwanese beef noodle and some Taiwanese tapioca milk tea so we're
gonna chow down, get some lunch and then we're gonna head out to the next location
we'll see you guys there. We then headed to another shopping mall towards our
hotel before dinner called Canal City with over 250 shops, cafes, and
restaurants, a theatre, game center, and cinemas you are for sure bound to find
something that suits your needs. There's also a very cool canal running through the
complex with a water show that you for sure can't miss.
Hey guys so right now we are along the river here in Fukuoka. And we're going to experience a yatai
for some dinner, which kind of like this these cool little shops that set up at
night. They're really awesome because you kind of get that local
feel. The food is absolutely amazing. Typically, you might find like yakitori
you know, skewer, chicken skewers. Um, sorry, chicken on a skewer. There's beer, alcohol
obviously, you have ramen. So basically all the foods that you'd want to eat are right here so,
we're going to show you guys what it looks like so lets experience a yatai.
[Chris] So we are like really close to everyone there's Micaela. [Micaela] Hi. [Chris] But yeah this is kind
of a cool yatai experience that we're going to do today.
What are we ordering? What is over there? Some oden, some gyoza... ok. So basically like izakaya
food that you'd find. Typical izakaya food.
So right now we are in Nokonoshima which is a ten minute ferry ride. An
island which is a ten minute ferry ride off of a Fukuoka. I get here straight we
get a bus from Tenjin station or Hakata station so it's really really accessible
and it's really famous for the Island Park. This park with a bunch of flowers
as you can see like everywhere. There's so many different colors of flowers it's
so beautiful. There's also a bunny park over there. There's like some people
playing some mini golf but i guess if you love nature and want to get out of the city
which is really close to the main areas in Fukuoka prefecture then this could be
a cool little getaway island for you to come to. You have to take a bus from the port
which was I don't know maybe 10-15 minutes or something like that so, once again
not too far so definitely check it out if you guys are here in Fukuoka prefecture.
So we made it to Dazaifu Tenman-gū which is the most famous and popular
Tenman-gū in all of Japan. It's dedicated to a very prominent scholar back in the 900s
known as Sugawara no Michizane. He actually was very very influential
in the Imperial court, back in those days, but was, he was exiled over here but after his
death, a lot of tragedies fell upon the Imperial courts, so, he was actually
deified here. He was known to be a very influential person back in the day.
He really liked plum trees, so... hence there are ume mochis.
So those are kind of dedicated to him. Also because he was a very prominent
scholar back in the day, many school students come here to pray for a good
education and so you'll probably see a lot of students around here like you see behind me... yeah.
We are right now at this hostel called the Life hostel and bar lounge it's
really really awesome, really cool, very convenient location. The price is very
very affordable and the detail that they have in here is absolutely amazing.
The designer loved wood so very wooden themes even the map of the hotel on the
walls is made out of wood and it's really kind of a clean feel to it. So I definitely
want to show you guys this hostel so please come follow me.
So this is the bar and lounge area, so you can kind of get a seat here, get a drink
over there by the bar. There's also a DJ section over there so they have a lot of
events every once in while during the night time. So definitely come here if
you're interested in little fun. There's a lot of very community feel to this
place so a lot of people in this hostel itself can get a drink or eat here, you
can make new friends, kind of people who have same interests as you.
You can also meet locals because there are Japanese residents, well not residents,
but people who stay here from different areas of Japan as well.
So this is the staircase, as you guys can see, but it's leads to the second floor where all the rooms are
so we're going to take you guys to the room area and show you guys kind of what
the rooms here in this hostel look like, so let's go.
So this is what a typical single room or double room looks like. This is more of like a typical Japanese
business style hotel which is a lot nicer and cleaner and really
cool-looking. It's like, the small details really count here, so I mean the chair is
made out of wood, the desk is made out of wood, really really is beautiful wood. Even the light bulbs
kind of antique feel to it, so I really like it here. There's also different
types of rooms: dormitory style, which is a lot lot cheaper so definitely check those out
if you want to kind of travel on a budget. So this is the hallway all the
rooms are lined up on this hallway area on the left and right sides, back that way is the
lounge, where you can kind of you know study, have little private time to yourself.
There's also kitchen down there, kind of free space, where you can cook something if you
want to cook something Japanese-y. There's also shared showers and shared
bathrooms down that way as well. Alright so that's going to round it up for our
kind of trip here in to Fukuoka Prefecture. This hotel is I think the closest
station would be Gion station. It's like a 7-minute walk, I believe. There's also
another chain, same company, more towards Nakasukawabata in a shotengai,
or kind of a shopping street, which is also a really really great location. There's also
another chain in Osaka, so definitely check out the links in the
description down below if you guys want to learn more and we'll see you guys in
my next video. See you guys next time. Bye.
