So Will, what even is the Progressive era?

What? What do you mean? What kind of APUSH student even are you?

I said a big bust. Here comes Sherman Anti Trust

Sherman and us, we 'bout to bust that trust

Down with the huge monopolies

Progressives, Protect the people please

The unions made a pact. They gon' gain some power

Got machines to make flour, getting paid more by the hour

Down with Carnegie, John D. And Vanderbilt

Big Business's power will start to tilt

It's the progressive movement, and we're gonna do this

Reform living conditions for the new immigrants

We will pass prohibition. It's our god-given mission

You ain't gonna stop us

All aboard the Progressive bus

The progressive era was a time of evolution

Of social justice and industrial revolution

A fight back against the big corporation

That was going to corrupt our freedom and nation

Getting more say with the FDA

No more rats in my food, ok?

This ain't no jungle. Don't make a fumble

We just want hot dogs, and from real deal hogs

Something that won't make our stomachs grumble

Yo this is Big Bill Taft. You thought I left but now I'm back

No longer the Sec(retary) of War

I'm gonna help support the poor

And yes I take the middle stance

It's 1909. I got the presidential pants

And I weigh in at over 300

Into the White House I thundered

But Teddy Roosevelt was irate, and with that he sealed our fates

(Next) Wilson became the head of our 50 states

He saw us through the First World War

He got the League of Nations on the senate floor

But he refused to compromise, and his stubbornness was its demise

The true trust buster of us three, it was he who broke monopolies

The progressive era was a time of evolution of social justice and industrial revolution

A fight back against the big corporation that was going to corrupt our freedom and nation

There was Huey Long, a Democrat

He wanted to share the wealth with an income tax

Cuz he thought the New Deal didn't go far enough, He broke off and did his own darn stuff

His radical stance and his far left views led to his assassination in Baton Rouge

Robert LaFollette, a senator from Wisconsin

Was disappointed by the government's growing corruption

He fought for a higher minimum wage

It rattled the GOP's cage on the national stage

To support the workers, he wanted compensation

To set an example for employers of the nation

The progressive era was a time of evolution

Of social justice and industrial revolution

A fight back against the big corporation

That was going to corrupt our freedom and nation

Progressives wanted women to vote

With this new found freedom towards the top women float

The nineteenth amendment gave them that right, but it didn't come without a big fight

Congress passed the sixteenth amendment

Conservatives proposed and liberals defended it

The seventeenth brought direct election

So our voice was heard in each congressional session

The progressive era was a time of evolution of social justice and industrial revolution

A fight back against the big corporation that was gonna corrupt our freedom and nation

Yo yo yo that's the progressive movement

To do the reform that the Gilded age wouldn't

4 Reasons We Never Hear About Kaley Cuoco's Sister - Duration: 4:46.

The Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco is one of today's most popular actresses.

But you may not know everything about her — like the fact that she has a close relationship

with her younger sister, Briana.

Chances are you didn't even know Briana existed.

The younger Cuoco sister hasn't been talked about too much — especially in recent years.

Here's why.

Living in the shadows

It's not easy to get attention as an actor when your big sister becomes a Hollywood A-lister.

Kaley's been acting since the early '90s when started to book gigs for commercials, TV shows,

and movies, and she's only gotten more well-known over time.

Since then, she's landed significant roles on Charmed, 8 Simple Rules, and, of course,

her star-making series The Big Bang Theory.

So it's safe to say the elder Cuoco has been all over our TV screens for decades.

With all that success to compete with, it's hard not to fall by the wayside.

Briana didn't even start acting until a decade after her sister, when she received her first

credit alongside her sister in an episode of The Nightmare Room.

Her next job came a full 11 years later as "Neal's Girl" in an episode of The Newsroom.

While she's made red carpet appearances here and there with Kaley, it's obvious her big

sis is the shining star of the family.

And Briana often finds herself on the receiving end of questions about her sister's off-screen

life.

After Kaley's divorce from professional tennis player Ryan Sweeting in 2016 — after 21

months of marriage — reporters tapped Briana to find out how her sister was doing.

Briana was willing to indulge the inquiry, telling Entertainment Tonight that her big

sis had "never been better" after her bit split and that she hoped Kaley would find

someone "who makes her laugh and makes her feel comfortable and confident in what she's

made for herself in her life."

But while it's great to be able to learn more about the CBS darling from such a reliable

source, it can't be fun to be essentially labeled as an informant or as "Kaley's sister,"

instead of being recognized for your own achievements.

Briana often tags along to Kaley's public appearances as her plus-one.

But while you'd think this would bolster the younger sibling's popularity, that's hardly

been the case.

Briana may receive nods for her edgy, rocker-chic style, but all eyes remain fixed on her fabulous

older sister.

The Voice

Briana Cuoco might be attempting to follow in her sister's Hollywood footsteps, but she

also has dreams of becoming a professional singer.

As Briana told Extra, "We always talked and dreamt about me singing the first song at

her wedding."

And Briana's earned some respect from those in her sister's inner circle.

Kaley's Big Bang Theory co-star Mayim Bialik told Access Hollywood that little sis "is

phenomenal.

She's very, very talented."

Meanwhile, Sheldon actor Jim Parsons playfully agreed, saying, "We give Kaley a lot of hell

like 'Oh so finally the world is going to see the really talented Cuoco!'"

And Briana has made some progress toward her goals.

She released a debut album titled Bluebird in 2013.

Unfortunately, the project didn't take off, despite some positive reviews on iTunes.

Despite the setback, she continued to pursue a career in entertainment.

Briana auditioned for The Voice in 2013, singing Lady Gaga's "You & I." Coaches CeeLo Green

and Christina Aguilera both spun their massive red chairs around for Briana, who opted to

join Aguilera's team — but it wasn't a Hollywood ending for the edgier Cuoco.

She lost in the battle rounds, only to be miraculously saved by country star Blake Shelton.

But then she got the boot in the knockouts.

After singing No Doubt's "Don't Speak," Briana struggled to maintain an even tone during

her matchup with another contender.

And to add salt to the wound, she spent most of her time on The Voice fielding questions

about her sister.

"She actually, to be honest with you, has been telling me to do it for years.

Since the beginning, 'You have to be on 'The Voice', it's the best show, blah blah blah

blah blah!"

"And the opportunity came and timing was everything."

Behind the scenes

Kaley may be the star of the show, but she's not the only one working on set.

In November 2012, at her sister's request, Briana choreographed a dance routine for The

Big Bang Theory's cast and crew.

The gang surprised showrunners with their flash mob performance, and Briana's work did

not go unnoticed by executive producer Chuck Lorre.

The showrunner later hired her to choreograph a dance number for his other hit show, Two

and a Half Men.

This isn't the first time the youngest Cuoco has worked behind the scenes.

She was Kaley's personal assistant before she broke out into the entertainment business

herself, and she seems to be doing well since her transition to Tinseltown.

Briana shared her grounded take on the entertainment industry with Us Weekly in 2013, saying, "People

open doors all the time for people, but you have to be the one to close them, no matter

what."

Sin City reboot

Another reason we haven't seen or heard much about Briana lately is that she's been busy

performing — in Las Vegas.

Kaley's little sister earned a starring role in The Venetian's show BAZ—Star-Crossed

Love.

The production is musical mash-up of director Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet, Moulin Rouge,

and The Great Gatsby.

Kaley visited Briana backstage after one of her September 2016 shows, and praised Briana

and her co-stars' performance on social media.

Big sister Kaley is definitely starting to pay back all that career support she's been

given over the years, and production is projected to continue through June 2017.

After that, she'll get another chance to decide which entertainment lane she chooses to travel

down next.

So maybe she'll become a little more visible to the mainstream sooner than later...

Survival from ICBM Ensures US capabilities India to accelerate work on BMD - Duration: 4:39.

The successful interception of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) target by a kill

vehicle last May 30 ensures the United States' domination of the world, said an interesting

analysis appearing in the website of the People's Liberation Army (PLA).

The U.S. success might also motivate India to accelerate work on perfecting its decade-old

Ballistic Missile Defense Program to counter ballistic missile attacks from China.

This ICBM interception "indicated progress in America's strategic defense technology,

but it's not good news for maintaining the current strategic balance among major powers

in the world," said the author, Senior Colonel Wang Mingzhi, a professor at the Air Force

Command College of the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF).

Col. Wang noted the current strategic balance among the contending world powers (the U.S.

versus China and Russia) "is largely based on the capability of Mutually Assured Destruction

(MAD) of the second nuclear attack, which is effective in preventing nuclear war and

ensuring strategic stability."

First applied during the late 1940s in the Cold War, MAD is a doctrine of military strategy

and national security policy in which a full-scale use of nuclear weapons by two or more opposing

sides will cause the complete annihilation of both the attacker and the defender.

It is based on the theory of deterrence, which holds the threat of using nuclear weapons

against an enemy prevents the enemy's use of those same weapons. The development of

a missile defense system by one side will violate the MAD doctrine and destabilize the

situation, because the side that does so won't have to fear the consequences of a second

strike by its enemy.

This is the situation China (and Russia) see themselves as being trapped in, hence their

furious opposition to THAAD, Patriot and the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) that

was used in the May 30 intercept.

GMD is the United States' anti-ballistic missile system for intercepting incoming warheads

in space, during the midcourse phase of ballistic trajectory flight.

Col. Wang argued the "enhancement of America's missile defense capability will, in theory,

undermine the effectiveness efficacy of nuclear strikes launched by its main strategic rivals

(Russia and China), thus consolidating its own domination."

This state of affairs will also goad other countries into developing their own "strategic

penetration technology at a faster pace or enhance their own strategic defense capability,

which will exert a new impact on international security," an obvious reference to India.

The Indian Ballistic Missile Defense Program seeks to develop and deploy a multi-layered

ballistic missile defense system to protect India from ballistic missile attacks by Pakistan

and China.

It consists of two land and sea-based interceptor missiles: the Prithvi Air Defense (PAD) missile

for high altitude interception, and the Advanced Air Defense (AAD) Missile for lower altitude

interception. The two-tiered shield should be able to intercept any incoming missile

launched from 5,000 kilometers away.

Despite being developed over the past 10 years, the program is not yet fully operational.

On May 30, an "ICBM-class target" fired toward the U. S. mainland from Kwajalein Atoll in

the Marshall Islands was destroyed over the Pacific Ocean by an "Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicle"

(EKV) in a test meant to demonstrate the effectiveness of U.S. anti-ballistic missile defenses.

The target fired from the Ronald Reagan Ballistic Missile Defense Test Site on Kwajalein Atoll

in the Marshall Islands, 6,600 km from the mainland was "successfully intercepted" at

3:30 p.m. ET by a Ground-Based Interceptor (GBI) launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base

in California.

HAUNTED HOTEL AT NIGHT: Abandoned Hotel Beau Coin - Urbex Lost Places Horror Luxembourg - Duration: 7:37.

In February we went on our biggest urbex trip yet.

Within nine days of nonstop urban exploration...

...we have explored several abandoned places in Germany, Luxembourg, France and Belgium.

After we had seen huge industrial facilities...

...and long tunnels in the underground...

...it was about time to explore some more residential houses.

Together with our local friend Luca from the youtube channel UrbexLuca...

...we were looking for abandoned buildings in Luxembourg on day seven of our road trip.

In the middle of the night we arrived at the last spot for the day.

...an abandoned hotel which is said to be haunted.

Hotel Beau Coin is a small hotel located in a quiet area.

On this picture postcard you can see how it used to look back then.

Today this place is anything but cozy.

In fact: It's an absolute mess!

It looks like this place was rummaged through multiple times.

Traces of vandalism are everywhere.

On the main floor there were a bar...

...and the restaurant.

The latter was known for the fine cooking.

Today this place is kind of flooded with water and decay is progressing very fast here.

It's the menu.

Lights out!

Okay...

Oh, you have keys for the different dishes.

Over here are the beverages.

For example something with cherry...

Fanta, Sprite, American Beer, ...

...champagne, Coca Cola, orange juice, ...

You can type the order right away.

And here you have food and accompaniments.

Banana split, pineapple cherry, ...

Steak, ...

...and here's gratin too.

Sweet.

Over here are plates which are...

...portioned.

In the middle you put the steak. Sauce to the left and the right.

...as well as peas and potatoes.

On the upper floors there are the hotel rooms.

This place was built in 1964.

Probably in 2001 it was abandoned.

You can find calendars with that year's number everywhere here.

Sick! There's a huge crack in the wall...

It is said that the hotel had switched owners for some times.

The last owners were said to be Dutch.

It was a couple that crossed some borders to start a new life here.

But it seems like their efforts have failed.

The hotel had to close its doors because there were barely any guests here.

Before we entered this place we've heard some ghost stories…

We're not that kind of people who believe in that stuff...

...but the atmosphere was really creepy and you don't want to be alone here in the middle of the night.

Shit, dude... - You just scared the crap out of us!

Here's a child's shoe made of porcelain?!

It is said that the former owners found a young girl in front of the house one day.

She didn't want to talk and the married couple didn't want to urge her.

She got food, they played with the little girl...

And so months went by…

It seemed like they would become a real family.

Until…

...she just disappeared one day.

The wedded couple searched the hotel but didn't find her.

So they asked the old neighbor and described what she looked like.

Deep in thought the neighbor said the couple should take a seat.

He left the room...

...and returned with a yellowed picture.

The pair from the hotel couldn't believe their eyes.

It was Mary on the picture – their little girl!

The old man said that the hotel used to be a farmhouse many years ago.

One day there was a fire…

The peasant couple escaped the flames.

But little Mary died in the inferno…

When you're quiet in here, you can still hear her crying for help.

And on some days...

...you can even see her body.

Wait… What was that?

Nahhh, just kidding.

Of course this whole story is just bullshit.

Well, at least that's our guess.

The tale is part of a geocache and we even found a note that belongs to the treasure hunt.

The only thing in the hotel that came close to be ghosty was on the attic.

Sweet. - Cool.

We just solved the mystery of the ghost.

It was just a weird sounding saw.

In the next episode we will spend the night in a massive sanatorium.

No problem for us, we thought.

After all we just survived a haunted hotel, we thought.

Well, we completely underestimated the intensity of the following night.

But see for yourselves in the next episode.

Venusaqua AP-338 4 Çıkışlı Hava Motoru İncelemesi - Duration: 4:09.

Hello everyone mates from Guraba Aquatics

Im Batuhan

Today, I will introduce Venusaqua AP-338 Four Outlets Air Pump to you.

AP-338 is a four outlets air pump

which is preferred by breeding set owners or multiple aquarium users.

Lets have a look at the box.

It says the motor is pure copper,

12W Power consumption

Four outlets and each outlets pump max 10L air.

There is a wordplay here.

Its says 'MAX' 10L/Min, so it can be lower liter.

Addentionally, It says extremely low in noise,

energy saving design and long lasting performance etc.

I bought this pump to use on my 4 aquarium, L144 Pleco Breeding set which i'll introduce it to you on another vid.

Pumping reasonable air and running in SILENCE is important for me.

Now I will make the unboxing and will check if the pump works really that quiet as the box says.

Pump has a simple design.

There is a button which you can use to adjust the air intensity.

You can give a desired quantity of air to aquariums by turning this button.

As told you before, there are four outlets.

There are four rubber feet under the pump which isn't fixed entirely.

So it minimizes the noise caused by vibration.

Now I'll connect the pump to electricity and check its noise level.

I connected the pump.

I don't know if you can hear me :)

But the noise isn't like as mentioned on the box.

Noise level is prietty high.

Vibration too as well.

Adjustment button is at minimum now.

Lets see what happens at maximum level.

At maximum level, noise is more or less same,

but there is much more vibration.

Connecting the air hoses will reduce the noise because empty outlets makes so much noise.

There is something interesting here

Adjusting the button to maximum is more quiet than minimum level.

We can say its prietty noisy.

Now I will connect pump to my tanks check air pumping levels.

I placed the air pump, connected to pipe filters

I will test the noise level again with hosed outlets.

Unfortunately, still making a lot of noise and vibration although with air hoses.

This Venusaqua air pump costs 21$ to me.

Average price is 20-25 dollar on the market.

If you are OK with noise and vibration, its a preferable product.

Air pumping capacity is pretty sufficient unlike noise and vibration.

The price is quite nice compare to other brands.

Its preferrable as Price/Performance.

If you like the video please hit the "Like" button.

If you haven't subscribe my channel, Your subscriptions and supports are too important for me.

Feel free to type your ideas or questions on comment section.

Thanks for watching.

Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) Movie Clip | Captain America Wakes Up 70 Years Later HD - Duration: 3:36.

Curve ball, high and outside for ball one.

So the Dodgers are tied, 4-4.

And the crowd well knows that with one swing of his bat,

this fellow's capable of making it a brand-new game again.

Just an absolutely gorgeous day here at Ebbets Field.

The Phillies have managed to tie it up at 4-4.

But the Dodgers have three men on.

Pearson beaned Reiser in Philadelphia last month.

Wouldn't the youngster like a hit here to return the favor?

Pete leans in. Here's the pitch.

Swung on. A line to the right. And it gets past Rizzo.

Three runs will score.

Reiser heads to third. Durocher's going to wave him in.

Here comes the relay, but they won't get him.

Good morning.

Or should I say afternoon?

Where am I?

You're in a recovery room in New York City.

The Dodgers take the lead, 8-4. Oh, Dodgers!

Everyone is on their feet.

What a game we have here today, folks. What a game, indeed.

Where am I really?

I'm afraid I don't understand.

The game.

It's from May 1941. I know, 'cause I was there.

Now, I'm going to ask you again.

Where am I?

- Captain Rogers... - Who are you?

Captain Rogers, wait!

All agents, code 13!

I repeat. All agents, code 13!

At ease, soldier!

Look, I'm sorry about that little show back there,

but we thought it best to break it to you slowly.

Break what?

You've been asleep, Cap.

For almost 70 years.

You gonna be okay?

Yeah.

Yeah, I just...

Peggy, Schmidt's dead!

What about the plane?

That's a little bit tougher to explain.

Give me your coordinates. I'll find you a safe landing site.

There's not gonna be a safe landing.

But I can try and force it down.

I'll get Howard on the line. He'll know what to do.

There's not enough time.

This thing's moving too fast and it's heading for New York.

I got to put her in the water.

Please, don't do this. We have time. We can work it out.

Right now I'm in the middle of nowhere.

If I wait any longer, a lot of people are gonna die.

Peggy,

this is my choice.

Peggy?

I'm here.

I'm gonna need a rain check on that dance.

All right.

A week, next Saturday, at the Stork Club.

You got it.

8:00 on the dot. Don't you dare be late. Understood?

You know, I still don't know how to dance.

I'll show you how. Just be there.

We'll have the band play something slow.

I'd hate to step on your...

Steve?

Steve?

Steve?

To the Captain.

Sir?

Take us to the next grid point.

But there's no trace of wreckage.

And the energy signature stops here.

Just keep looking.(CoolestClips4K)

Clavijas, picas de tienda Pegs & Tent Stakes (Subtitles) - Duration: 5:49.

Today it´s about tent stakes

it´s obvious that there are hundreds

I will just show you the ones I have used

and how they worked......

all these light stakes can bend

it doesn´t matter the kind or brand

or shape

the cheap that comes with regular tents

it´s big and heavy

around 15 grs

and bend easy

another aluminium, a bit stronger

and lighter

it bends as well

this one is from Naturehike

an MSR style

I use these for mostly for the corners

or stronger winds

easy to nail

and the shape gives them strength

you need to be careful not tu cut yourself, as they are a bit shar on the edges

use the cord to take them out

a titanium one from the brand Tito

6 grs

16,5 cm long

to go light, they are a good option

they are strong, 3mm thick

reasonable price...

very easy to nail in the ground

best of all

it is good balance between size, weight and strength

and lastly will show you this as a curiosity, as I´m not using them much

2mm thick titanium,

ultralight

just 2 grs

but they will not work great

they are short and too thin

they can be used in some terrains

they are flexible

just as a curiosity

in my experience any of those will work better if nailed verticaly, rather than inclined. Be.tter resistance

in an 45º angle, inclined

as the tent pull up

there is less ground to support the stake

I just wanted to share my thoughts

will resume fast

the ultralight titanium, I will not recommend them

they are too short, and too thin

they don´t offer me a secure pitch

they bend easy

so I think they are not worth for the price

the big aluminium ones

will discard them for the volume and weight

the stronger aluminium ones doesn´t offer me much adventages.

they bend, still heavy

nothing special

the ones I use most now are these ones

I like the titanium ones from tito, really easy to nail

they are just 6 grs

nice price

and the ones from naturehike are realatively strong and light

they bend, but less

so these are with me usually

I will keep enjoying my coffee, and see you next time

Just a moment to thank all of you that left comments on the videos and gave me your support.

If you're watching this video on a laptop in-between watching more cat videos, you may

have noticed the sound of fans whirring away, trying to keep your slim technological miracle

of form and function cool.

Heat is a natural enemy of electronics, it can cause computers to slow and crash, and

damage important hardware to boot.

So scientists at Duke University have been exploring a new technique inspired by insect

wings to keep your CPU as cool as you are.

The concept behind every cooling system ever is basically the same: take heat from a hot

area, move it to somewhere less hot, repeat ad infinitum.

The details of how different systems do this exactly can vary a lot, and they range from

simple to ingenious.

Heat sinks just let the electronics warm a set of metal fins with a large surface area

while a fan blows cool air over the fins.

The air warms up, absorbing the heat, and then is blown away.

Only the most powerful pre 90s computers needed these but now they're a staple of home computers

and have made higher processing speeds possible.

Heat pipes contain liquid and use heat to turn it into a vapor, which then travels to

a cooler part of the pipe to condense again.

The liquid then naturally flows back to the hot areas along grooves on the inside of the

pipe because the liquid is attracted to the material, a phenomenon called capillary action.

No pumps or gravity are required, so this is the technique many satellites use to manage

heat in space.

Like a heat pipe, the new system developed at Duke also uses vaporizing liquid as a means

to carry heat away.

A sponge-like material filled with liquid rests just under the surface that needs to

be cooled.

The liquid absorbs the heat until it turns into vapor and leaves the sponge -- taking

the heat with it.

Below the sponge is a cool surface for the liquid to condense on, but it's been specially

designed to be superhydrophobic.

I'm not talking regular hydrophobic, like oil and water.

I mean super-hydrophobic like a cat, it actively repels it.

It does this by mimicking the microscopic bumps on the wings of a cicada.

Condensing water droplets sit on these bumps like a person sits on a bed of nails.

When droplets merge though, they leap into the air.

This is because when the two droplets come together, their overall surface area is reduced.

The energy that was once used to keep the droplets flat on the hydrophobic surface is

suddenly released, popping the drop straight up.

Cicadas use this phenomenon to keep their wings clean, while the cooler uses it to return

liquid to the sponge.

There are a few benefits of a cooling system like this.

It works in any orientation and is independent of gravity.

It can also passively cool moving hotspots that naturally occur; If an area of the electronic

device gets hotter than the rest, it'll just evaporate more liquid from the sponge.

Other techniques either can't target hotspots at all -- making them ill suited to cool large

areas -- or they have to use power to target moving hotspots, making them less efficient.

The technology has a ways to go before it's ready, as the scientists have to find materials

that will last long term, but they're optimistic about their progress so far.

After working on this for a few years, the researchers claim their technique is on par

with the performance of the most common technology used now: copper heat spreaders, but has the

potential to surpass it.

While new technologies that promise to make high performance electronics and electric

cars better is exciting, my favorite part of the story is the researchers who developed

this technology are the same ones who first observed how cicada wings repelled water.

Back in 2013 they suggested it might be used as a way to cool devices, and here we are

four years later and they're doing exactly what they imagined they would.

Don't you love the progress of science?

You're probably watching this video on a phone or a computer right now, hopefully it's

cool, but is staring at screens all day really bad for your eyes?
