What Die-Hard Fans Don't Even Know About The Rock - Duration: 5:43.
We all know that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is the Great One, as well as People's Sexiest
Man Alive for 2016.
But there's a lot more to Johnson than meets the eye.
Here's what you don't know about the man who brought the People's Elbow.
Rock-y start
He may rule Hollywood today, but Johnson didn't always have it so easy.
He revealed to Muscle and Fitness that, at fourteen years old, he , quote, "started getting
arrested — for fighting, theft, all kinds of stupid s--- that I shouldn't have been
doing…I got arrested 8 or 9 times I think by the time I was 17."
He was basically in his own version of Bling Ring, saying, "[We stole] high-end clothes
and jewelry.
In Waikiki...There are a lot of tourists that come into Waikiki, and there's a lot of money...We
would target the money, we would target the high-end clothes and we would target the jewelry
— turn around and sell it, best we could."
Johnson's teenage years were also plagued by financial troubles.
He told CinemaBlend, "We were evicted...We came home and it had a padlock on the door.
I saw my mom crying...There was nothing we could do."
He said, "I wanted to become a success somehow so we'd never get locked out again...So in
my mind at that time...the men who were successful were Stallone and Schwarzenegger and guys
like that...I was like, 'Okay, they're successful, they're not getting evicted, they built their
bodies — I'm gonna go build my body.'"
"Very first time I worked out in a gym I was with my dad.
I would get on the wrestling mats with him and he'd bend my body in pretzels until I
tapped out."
The family biz
The Rock is a third generation pro wrestler.
His father, Rocky Johnson, was a pro, as was his maternal grandfather, the "High Chief"
Peter Maivia.
His maternal grandmother, Lia Maivia, was a professional wrestling promoter and one
of the first women in the business.
The sport is so prolific in his family that they've been dubbed "The Samoan Dynasty."
But Johnson also had other athletic ambitions...
Warren Sapp took his job
Johnson played college ball for the University of Miami, but as ESPN reported, he was soon
replaced by future NFL star Warren Sapp.
Sapp recalled, "When [Johnson] was [first] there, I was a tight end in high school and
I got [to University of Miami] as a tight end and linebacker, and they moved me over
to D-line...So I came into the D-line room and sat down, and Dwayne Johnson walks in
and says, 'What are you doing here?'
I said, 'I'm here for your job.'...I said it jokingly, but, I was there for his job."
Yikes.
And that wouldn't be the last time Johnson would experience some professional rivalries
in the world of sports.
"I will beat you like a Cherokee drum!"
WWEnemies
Johnson and fellow WWE star John Cena are friends now, but leading up to their Wrestlemania
match-ups in 2012 and 2013, their feud was very real.
Johnson told Muscle and Fitness, "John had said some things in an interview that I took
exception to.
He felt they were okay, I felt that they weren't okay….It got really uncomfortable for a
lot of people."
But he banked on their beef, saying, "In this case it worked out very well and through all
that edge and attitude and bite that we had, and nearly coming to blows backstage, and
one night in the ring — literally we were nose-to-nose, it was any second.
And through that in a crazy, weird, completely unexplained way, we became great buds."
That's all fortunate, because as we all know, conflicts in the ring don't always work out
so well…
"You're gonna be wearing a body bag when I'm through with you."
"Yeah?
Well you can't have sex with anyone without having a 'talk' first, 'cause of your herpes."
Vince McMahon reject
Although he's become arguably the most famous wrestler of our generation, Johnson wasn't
an overnight success.
"I don't get in shape.
I stay in shape.
Come on, gimme some!"
He told Esquire, "I get a call once from the WWE, saying, 'Vince [McMahon] would like to
see you in Stamford.
I went to his office and he says, 'I really think you have a lot of potential, but you're
not ready for the WWE.
You should go to Memphis, Tennessee.
That's where I want you to learn the business.'"
Johnson paid those dues, saying, "I think wrestling for $40 a night and eating at the
Waffle House three times a day, wrestling every weekend at a flea market, then at a
state fair, or a car dealership or in barns...[means I earned my success]."
Built for Hollywood
It may be hard to believe, but even the impeccably-shredded Johnson was told by Hollywood to slim down.
The Rock's ex-wife and manager, Dany Garcia, told Forbes, "When he was wrestling, he was
at 270 pounds and the ruler of the world.
When he went into movies he dropped to 230 pounds and they told him to stop talking about
wrestling."
Johnson noted, "It reached a point where I felt that instead of me trying to conform
to Hollywood, I needed to have Hollywood conform to me and embrace my past."
Guinness guy
In 2015, Johnson set a world record.
And not for "most insane cheat day meal" According to Guinness World Records, he took "the most
[selfies] in three minutes."
105 selfies to be exact, all while working the red carpet at the San Andreas world premiere
in London.
Of course, this wouldn't be the last time Johnson went a little overboard with social
media...
Insta-shade
In August 2016, Johnson slammed an unnamed Fate of the Furious star on Instagram, saying,
"My female co-stars are always amazing and I love 'em.
My male co-stars however are a different story.
Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don't….my
blood is legit boiling."
Rumors soon swirled that the co-star in question was Vin Diesel, especially after Diesel posted
his own Facebook video in which he alluded to a "crazy week."
A source told Page Six, "[Diesel] was constantly late…He acted like a diva and has held up
productions before, so it's not surprising that he's the one The Rock is calling out."
"Are you Vin Diesel?"
"No, I'm bigger and better-looking."
"Vin, come on, stop playing with him.
Yes, this is Vin Diesel.
I'm Bruce Willis!"
Making bank
The Rock was named Forbes' highest paid actor in 2016, taking home a cool $64.5 million
— more than twice what he earned the year before, courtesy of large upfront fees for
Moana and Central Intelligence, as well as 2017's Fate of the Furious, Baywatch, and
Jumanji.
When the news broke, he tweeted, "Want to say two things about this.
I started w/ $7 bucks.
If I can overcome, so can you.
Waffle House on me!!"
Now that's a milestone worth celebrating.
"I had no choice, but to get down, down, down, down… dance!"

UK Election 2017: Who Should I Vote For? - Duration: 1:43.
I struggle with telling people how to vote. I spend most of my time telling people who not to vote for because I think our political system has given us a lot of candidates that spend most of their time just repeating the same buzzwords to appeal to the lowest common denominator. For Labour it's always along the lines of the NHS is being ruined by the Conservatives and people are being murdered by Conservative cuts to welfare Vote Labour and not only will we give you loads of free stuff, but the evil rich will be taxed more and more. And then For the Conservatives it seems like everything they pitch is at old people, and has to contain the word strong or stable in it otherwise Theresa May will have a panic attack. UKIP can't talk about anything without pulling immigration or the EU into the discussion and the Liberal Democrats spend most of their time proving that they're neither Liberals nor Democrats, instead wanting to go against the democratic will of the British public in favour of an authoritarian anti liberal state. They should be renamed the authoritarian anti democrats.
The Greens just spout SJW tinged communist nonsense and then you have a whole herd of nationalist parties like the SNP and Plaid who continue to stoke anti English sentiment even though a vast majority of their respective constituents like the English and want to be inside of the United Kingdom. But regardless of how dreadful they are you have to vote. I wish I could shout it from the rooftops I mean it's your responsibility as the inhabiter of a country like the UK that affords you so many freedoms, and rights to the envy of many third world countries and authoritan regimes. You have to do it. I say pick a party, if you agree with more of their policies than other parties, then vote for them. And engage with people, listen to other opinions and be open. I'm a pessimistic idiot who hates all of them, so you probably want to stay away from me. But when it comes down to it you have to vote.

3D SOUND: you will be confused - Duration: 8:05.
Today, we're going to do an experiment together.
I'm super excited for it because I was really surprised by the results.
"You were completely wrong"
You're going to need one thing for the experiment but it's absolutely crucial you use it,
and that's headphones.
So pause the video and put them on.
If you've put them on the right way around, you should hear this in your right ear
and this in your left ear.
Ready? Let's do it!
To give you a taste of the experiment we're about to conduct, here is a snippet
that will immerse you in a fishing day.
Listen hard.
You must have heard sounds of the mill on the one side, and sounds of the cutting
of the fish on the other side; you could locate the area of origin of the sounds.
That's thanks to a so-called binaural recording that attempts to recreate the way that
we perceive sounds with our two ears, by using two regular microphones...
with a twist.
The microphones have fake ears stuck on them.
The point of this kind of recording is to immerse the public into a scene
to allow for them to experience, say, a day of fishing, as if they were really there.
You may already know this kind of recording, but what we're going to do today
is test its limits.
Franck and I met up with Régis, a postdoc researcher at Brams,
the international research lab on brains, music and sound.
He helped us use their binaural recording system that's strapped onto a mannequin.
Are you ready?
Yep
Now listen.
You could have kept your eyes closed and still known where the sound came from.
Let's put that to the test.
I'm going to need you to participate.
What if I play this sound for you?
Can you tell where it's coming from?
I'll play it again.
How about this one?
You should have heard the first sound in your left ear and the second
in your right ear.
Telling the difference between sounds coming from the right or left comes very easily to us.
Let's keep going.
This sound came from in front of you.
Front, middle.
Next try.
You must have noticed that this sound came from your right,
but from a lower point to your right.
Right, bottom.
Next test.
It came from somewhere high behind you.
Behind, top.
Next test.
This one came from the low left, or was it high left?
Or middle?
Personally, I can't tell the difference between different heights
or if the sound comes from in front or behind me.
This should be the case for you, too, at least I hope so, so let me know
in the comments.
This limitation is directly linked to the way that we locate sounds.
We use 3 localization mechanisms that complete one another:
The first is sound intensity.
Also known as the difference in intensity between the two ears; a sound coming from the left
is perceived louder by the left ear than it is by the right, since the head functions as a screen
that blocks sound waves.
The second is time difference.
When a sound is produced on one side of your head, it will take longer to reach
the other ear because it has a longer distance to travel.
This difference in time allows us to locate whether the sound is coming from our left or our right.
These two mechanisms are called binaural cues and the brain processes them
to interpret where sounds come from.
The brain is really doing all the work here.
In these cases, the binaural recording is highly efficient.
The last mechanism is one that gives us information about the vertical location
of sounds, differences between high and low as well as front or back.
In order to make such distinctions, the shape of our ears
and the presence of our head and torso are the main reasons we manage to locate sounds.
Those are called spectral cues.
Let me explain.
Sound waves, wherever they come from, will hit the shapes in our ears
in a different way if they come from above or below us.
The shape of our ears, our height etc. act like filters that physically modify the sound
(both its frequency and its spectrum).
Once such modifications have been made,
the sound enters the auditory tube and allows us to figure out
where it is coming from.
So how come our audio recordings, which we did using fake ears,
doesn't allow us to tell if a sound comes from above, below, behind or at the front?
That's the limit of binaural audio.
We all have different ears.
One person will have a completely different auricle
(that's what they're called)
from another.
While the overall shape is similar, if you look closely at the angles, the width
and so on, you'll spot differences.
That means that in order for you to know where the sounds really come from,
you'd need for the ear used during audio recordings
to be exactly the same as yours.
The one we have here is your 'average' ear, it doesn't model anybody's ear perfectly.
Let's do another experiment.
I'd really, really like you to try this one at home because it's really confusing
and all you need is some modeling clay.
This will help us demonstrate the importance of the ear's shape
in locating sounds.
Are you ready?
Yes
Franck, even blindfoled, manages to locate sounds perfectly.
Alright, I think we're good.
Did I get it right?
Yeah, completely right.
But after slightly altering the shape of his ear with modeling clay
(I really recommend you try it too), he wasn't as successful.
It's hard to tell because you've done both very well and very poorly.
I was back there and you pointed to up here.
Were you really there? I really thought you were over here.
That being said, one surprising thing that Régis told us
is that if we keep the modeling clay in for a few weeks we'll end up being able to
once again locate sounds around us because our brain
will have adapted to the change,
as long as it isn't too drastic.
Even though binaural recordings are limited, when you immerse yourself in a video,
it doesn't feel like you're missing a spatial dimension.
I think that that is thanks to our eyes that do a bit of extra work
to complete our hearing and recreate a sort of spatial map for sounds.
Binaraul recordings as we've experienced in this video
isn't so far off from regular stereo.
In order to fix its defects, the technology is evolving towards so-called
ambisonic reproduction systems that use even more microphones and in my opinion,
we're going to hear about those for a few more years.
So if you are to completely immerse yourself into an audio environment using only headphones,
you'll need for all the sounds to have been recorded through your ears,
or at least a copy of your ears,
to make it less inconvenient.
Or you could always trade your headphones for a bigger sound system
like the one in this lab which contains over 80 speakers.
I hope you liked this video and that you now want to try the experiment with the modeling clay
it's worth trying it with friends, family, kids...
at least I've had a lot of fun with it.

How to Soundproof Windows in Your Studio | Video Coach Brighton West - Duration: 5:47.
Are you looking to keep sound out of your home recording studio?
Like if you have a noisy neighbor that you don't want to pick up at your recordings,
or maybe you need to keep the sound inside the room, like if you're practicing your
new drumset.
In this video, I'm gonna share how I solved the problem of sound coming through the windows
of my home video studio.
Of course, this solution only works if you're okay no longer looking out the window.
So if you need your windows to still be open and have light coming through, there's another
option.
I'll put a link in the description.
I have a friend who did this.
He's got a music studio and he needed to leave his windows open.
And essentially what it is is a press-in frame.
It's custom made for every window and it gives you another layer of thick material
and no air cracks around the outside.
It's a little bit expensive but you can check that out down in the description.
But today, what we're gonna do is just block out the window 100%.
So I started out with a trip to Home Depot where I got these rubber sealants.
This is the extra small gaps because this is just gonna seal the gap between the fiber
board that we're putting up and the window.
And I got this - it's fiberboard.
It's a soundproofing material and I found this in the insulation section at Home Depot.
I can't even find it on their website.
But it's called Blueridge fiberboard and it's meant for soundproofing.
It's about a half inch thick and they come in four by eight sheets.
It's kind of like a particle board but it's really light so the sound is kind of a - the
vibrations don't make it through.
Typically, this is used during construction.
They would put this behind the plaster, behind the drywall, to be able to stop the sound
from coming through walls but we're gonna use it on the window today.
So I started out at Home Depot and I have the measurements here for the window, and
I actually had Home Depot cut this down.
This is really easy-to-cut material and it's really light.
You can cut this with a hand saw, you can cut it with a circular saw but I was able
to just give Home Depot my measurements and have them cut them - cut it for me.
They did that for free, and now I'm gonna install it.
First thing I'm gonna do it install around the edges this - the rubber seal and I'm
gonna install this up against my foam board because then when I take this down, it's
not stuck to the window, but it's gonna give me that seal.
Okay, so you can see here that I've taken this rubber strapping here, this gasket, and
you just peel off one side and stick it to the fiberboard.
I've gone around about an inch inside along the top and the two sides, and I've actually
put it at the bottom edge here because what it's gonna do - this is an older house so
it's gonna rest on the sill here, but it's gonna be up against the face here.
So your situation may be a little bit different, just figure out how you're gonna be able
to seal it against the existing window and put your seal there.
Now the next thing I'm gonna do is just screw this in - we've got some drywall screws.
These things are really light.
I'm just gonna put four screws in and I'm gonna put them in the corners.
I still wanna put a bunch of holes in my window because I'm gonna have to fix that at some
point in time when I pull this down and use this room for a different purpose.
But right now, let's just stick with some little screws and pop those in the corners.
So I ended up putting in seven screws here.
So I put them in the corners and then one along each edge just because this was feeling
like it was not sitting sealed, and I could already hear the difference in this room,
because there's actually two things, something that I haven't really thought about.
One is there's much less noise coming in from the outside.
I can already hear the construction site is less loud.
I can hear that it's coming from in front of me, coming from in the door where the camera
is right now, and the other window is still not done.
But the second thing is, this stuff is really good at absorbing those sound waves from bouncing
so this is working very similar to the foam that I've got on the wall.
Now instead of having a hard surface here, I've got a soft surface.
So this is a really simple project that you can do.
It's cheap.
I wanna say this is like, per window, maybe twenty bucks worth of materials and it's
as simple as screwing it in and having Home Depot cut it.
Now you might have to go to a bigger Home Depot.
I had to go to a big Home Depot to find this stuff.
It might not be in some of the smaller Home Depots, but the name of it is Blueridge Fiber
Sound Stop.
So watch for that and you might - if you wanted this to look better, I thought about doing
this, but I just wanna get this done so that I can start shooting videos again, I would
probably cover this up with a fabric, just any kind of fabric from a fabric store, and
it also might look nicer for me outside, too, if this was fabric covered.
Not sure exactly how I would deal with that seal there.
Actually, it will probably seal pretty well with the fabric in between anyway.
So I hope you enjoyed this.
On this channel, I bring you all sorts of information about how small businesses can
use video to grow, especially solopreneurs and coaches, and authors.
And this is one of those great examples of building a home studio so that you can produce
video on a regular basis and be able to share your content with the world.
So if you're up for more videos like that, press the subscribe button now.

Издание и распространение рекламных листовок - Duration: 4:34.
This type of business I was prompted for one event... Being very often in Kiev for business, I met in the subways of young people who handed out different flyers. It was the flyers beauty salons, dental clinics, grocery flour etc., Some flyers were just in one institution, while others consisted of four blocks. Each unit offered their services. Ie this leaflet was 4 of advertiser: selling flour, a beauty salon, sale of apartments, offices services. Out of habit I took a flyer and put it in his pocket to new times.... Arriving home to your Zhitomir, I carefully read the company's management group BiPi to conduct promotional activities and came to the conclusion that I need to do something similar in Zhitomir. All the conditions for it! The head is in place.... Experience is... Customers too... We have 6-7 times a year, one firm makes a fair local Drama. There is exhibited quite a lot of firms for 3 days of the exhibition many people visited it (about 12-14 thousand people). For myself, I decided to engage in the distribution of such circulars will be at this exhibition (the first push). Then decided to make a flyer. The size of the leaflets is the third part of the sheet, i.e. 99х210 (dimensions in mm). Each side of the leaflets were divided into four blocks (the size of a business card - 50х90мм). So I got this flyer 8 blocks. The copies that I could hand out at this show - 10000 leaflets. The cost of participation of one advertiser I have appointed 200 UAH. ($37). I have this flyer was 8 places, but one place I took it by itself (it would be foolish not to take advantage of this chance to advertise your business, and still make money on advertising), so I was left with 7 advertisers. Advertisers I found no problems. All of them are my regular customers (doing business cards and other printed) and reacted to my idea with great interest! Next, I made the layout of their ad units, placed them on the layout of the leaflet. When everything checked out (checked for grammar errors, phone numbers), a layout printed in the mirror on a laser printer on matte film (for printing). Then took the tape, took it to the printer and made copies of flyers. Now let's run some calculations: 1. This leaflet was 7 advertisers. Thus, the total revenue amounted to: 7 advertisers x 200 UAH. 1400 UAH. 2. The cost of printing (film, printing, cutting, delivery edition): 162 UAH. (print) + 3 UAH. (taxi) = 165 UAH. 3. Costs associated with obtaining permission to distribute flyers at the exhibition - 150 UAH. 4. All costs associated with the production of leaflets: 165 UAH. + 150 UAH. = 315 UAH. 5. The net profit I got: 1400 UAH. - 315 UAH. = 1085 UAH. (201 USD). To see the real flyer at the link (the appearance, the design of the blocks): http://bizzon.christ4you.org/bizzon/listovka.htm . Then came the day "X" I took their leaflets and went to the exhibition to give away. People take these things very willingly and in three days I gave them all away. To be honest, the result exceeded all my expectations! My advertisers phone literally melted from the calls, Yes, my work has increased, there are new customers, announced old... in short, the process went... On the third day of the exhibition I was approached by my advertisers and gave their nod to participate in all such exhibitions. Their wish is my command! I'm going to do these things every exhibition. But I already have another idea to do distribution of flyers each month, say with a circulation of about 30000-40000 pieces. Hiring for distribution to people and earn money!

Joriam | The Road to Nerdfighteria - Duration: 3:05.
My road to Nerdfighteria started in the most boring fashion you can imagine!
Ahhh!
Youtube's algorithm actually recommended me a Crash Course video.
And that's it!
Meh....not true!
Or at least just a tiny fraction of the truth.
Let me give you some context!
By the time Youtube recommended me that Crash Course video, I had been preparing for almost
a year to move from Brazil to Germany.
And that's a big decision, so of course I was very anxious.
And I was working like a pig.
Not only that but, you know, me and a friend of mine, to save some money,
we moved to a new place.
So this is the map of Rio de Janiero, and the place that I moved to was more or less uh....
here!
Actually, here!
So I was nervous and about to leave to a new continent, and in insolation....
nyyhhhh!
And as a coping mechanism, I started watching a lot of Youtube videos.
Mostly educational animations, like CGP Grey, or Extra Credits, or In A Nut Shell.
I had a company that makes those, so I figured I could use my obsession to learn something.
And Youtube kept recommending me Crash Course.
"Our mechanical brains know you're gonna like it."
And I kept repelling it. "I don't want this!
I want animations!"
And one day I said, "Fine!
I want to learn about the Mongols!"
And Youtube was right.
I didn't have much free time, but I watched Crash Course when I was exercising,
when I was eating, and soon I went to heavier drugs like Vlogbrothers.
That's another story, but the first group of friends that really accepted me
here in Berlin were the Nerdfighters Berlin. You guys!!
You're so great! I love you so much!
And a month ago, I got to the highest point of my Nerdfighter experience.
I went to VidCon Europe and I participated in the Vlogbrothers Q&A.
I actually had this really, really red scarf, so I knew I'd be chosen!
Where is that?
Ahhhhh!
It will not look red, because I mess up with the colors.
And I had the chance to give one of those to Hank Green.
This is a prototype for a card game that I've been making for the past few months.
It's called Jori and it was real!
And I actually gave this to him.
He was not a guy on the screen anymore.
I had the chance to give something that was very personal and very mine.
It even carries a piece of my name.
And my name is Joriam, by the way.
And I gave it to him. I put it in his hand.
It was very mystical.
Suddenly, that person was real.
Of course, I know he is super busy with Orin and his lifestyle is in the middle of a big change,
but one day I hope he plays it.
I hope he likes it.
So that's my road to Nerdfighteria thus far.
It started in a moment of anxiety and crisis.
It traveled continents with me and now it's something that gives me a lot of strength.
It introduces me to a lot of cool people.
It's such a positive experience in my life!
If you wanna see some cool stuff that I talked about in this video, links in the doobly-dooooo.
