Creepy Paranormal Documentaries That'll Make You Question Everything - Duration: 6:18.There's no shortage of horror films in the world, but they all have one problem: they
aren't real.
You know Freddy Krueger won't really get you because he's just Robert Englund in a mask.
Werewolves don't wreak havoc in London, and there are no sexy vampires who just want to
play sexy baseball.
"It's the American pastime."
No, what you need in your horror is that taste of real-life terror.
Here are some creepy documentaries about the paranormal that are guaranteed to get under
your skin.
Invasion on Chestnut Ridge
If you didn't know that southwest Pennsylvania is basically Spooktown Central, USA, you will
after watching Invasion on Chestnut Ridge, the latest installment in the Small Town Monsters
paranormal documentary series.
Following a high-profile UFO sighting and alleged military cover-up in Kecksburg, Pennsylvania,
in the 1960s, the area also experienced a huge upsurge in Bigfoot sightings in the 1970s.
"The woman who lived across from me, heard a noise at the back of her trailer.
And she opened the door and bigfoot was standing there."
People living around Chestnut Ridge reported seeing UFOs and bizarre creatures for years,
and the reports continue to this day.
This film traces the history of these sightings across the decades through first-hand accounts
and chilling reenactments.
The Mothman of Point Pleasant
Also part of the Small Town Monsters series, The Mothman of Point Pleasant investigates
one of the strangest events of the 20th century.
Over the course of 13 months in the 1960s, the small West Virginia town of Point Pleasant
was home to numerous sightings of a strange, winged creature, which culminated in the deadly
collapse of the Silver Bridge.
The events of this story have been dramatized in various films, including perhaps most famously
2002's The Mothman Prophecies.
But the 2017 documentary The Mothman of Point Pleasant takes a personal look at the events
through eyewitness interviews and reports.
The movie is a deep dive into the phenomenon that has become a point of pride for the people
of Point Pleasant, inspiring a statue, a museum, and an annual festival.
Other monsters wish they had it so good.
The Nightmare
This 2015 documentary looks into the phenomenon of sleep paralysis.
But as you watch it, you'll quickly realize that you aren't going to get any dry, boring
facts.
In fact, not a single doctor or scientist is interviewed throughout the film's 90-minute
runtime.
Instead, The Nightmare sees eight different individuals who have experienced sleep paralysis
describe their experiences, which are then reenacted to horrifying effect.
While they're all bizarre, the one that will really stick with you is the shadow people.
Looming silhouettes who stand over your bed while you lie helpless is enough to inspire
a few nightmares of your own, whether you experience sleep paralysis or not.
My Amityville Horror
Chances are, you're at least kind of familiar with The Amityville Horror.
You might have read the 1977 book by Jay Anson or seen the 1979 film or its 2005 remake.
But there's always room for one more interpretation, right?
My Amityville Horror came out in 2012 and is an account of the Amityville haunting from
the perspective of the now-adult Daniel Lutz, who was only a child at the time of the alleged
haunting.
While the movie does look at the haunting from his point of view, it's also a look at
the way being associated with a famous paranormal story since childhood has affected Daniel
psychologically.
A Haunting in Connecticut and Georgia
In 2002, the Discovery Channel released two feature-length specials, A Haunting in Connecticut
and A Haunting in Georgia, which went on to inspire the fictionalized theatrical release
The Haunting in Connecticut and its sequel, the improbably titled The Haunting in Connecticut
2: Ghosts of Georgia.
The original TV documentaries recount the alleged experiences from the perspectives
of the victims, mixing reenactments with narration and interviews.
Connecticut deals with a family moving into a house that was formerly a funeral parlor.
There, the children begin seeing ghosts, including a demon they refer to as "the Man in the Suit."
"This demon would tell him, go upstairs and do something bad."
Meanwhile, Georgia deals with a family who moves into an abandoned home only for their
4-year-old daughter to begin communicating with a series of imaginary friends.
In short, if creepy kids and their spooky imaginary friends give you the heebie-jeebies,
the two pilot episodes of the now-ongoing A Haunting series are probably just what you're
looking for.
The Pantry Ghost Documentary
The "pantry ghost" phenomenon began with a series of YouTube videos in 2007 in which
a man claimed there was a ghost opening his pantry door every night at the same time,
12:34 a.m.
The authenticity of these videos has been hotly debated in the decade since they first
appeared, and 2013's The Pantry Ghost Documentary expands on the alleged phenomenon, adding
interviews with the man's family and giving the background of how the original videos
came to be made.
It'll definitely have you questioning how it was done, whether by human or inhuman means.
Ghosts on the Underground
This eerie 2005 documentary doesn't rely on the usual reenactments or jump scares.
It's mostly a series of interviews with workers from London's subway system, the oldest in
the world, in which the workers explain the strange things they've seen and experienced.
There's no composited footage of what a ghost might have looked like and no actors — just
real people with real stories.
The closest the film comes to offering visual evidence of a ghost is a man in an electric
chair that appeared in the background of a photo of a little boy.
Even so, Ghosts on the Underground covers some seriously creepy stories, and the film
regularly inserts title cards to remind you just how many people have actually died down
there, which is spooky enough on its own.
Out of the Blue
Are there aliens among us?
That's the question posed by the 2002 TV documentary Out of the Blue, a feature-length film that
calls itself "the definitive investigation of the UFO phenomenon."
This film is packed with interviews with experts, from scientists to eyewitnesses to high-ranking
military officials, in an attempt to prove that some unidentified flying objects actually
may have alien origins.
It also looks into alleged government attempts to smother public belief in extraterrestrials.
If alien encounters and government conspiracies are more your cup of tea than ghosts in the
pantry, then Out of the Blue and its sequel, I Know What I Saw, are probably for you.

AFTERMOON. Inside | VLOG #3 (English subs) - Duration: 5:51.Hello everyone, my name is DIIIIIIMA,
and today will be the loudest day in the life of mankind.
The day when we have started to record drums for our future.
Our future album, of course.
Hooray comrades, all drums are recorded, so what does it mean?
It means that cold, frothy and delicious beer is waiting for me somewhere, and soon I will…
And once again we are going to record drums.
Guys convinced me that my record session was not perfect, that's why we need to do it one more time.
But, unfortunately, I had a little injury, I hurt my hand. That's why I cannot record drums by myself.
It is therefore this recording session will be held by this beautiful lady.
I don't know how this comes out, but, anyway, we are headed to the studio.
All stories are real! Characters are not fictitious! Life is created by our hands.
Yes, Lera will be held today`s drums session.
Although the fact that my hand is injured, and I`m not able to record drums and so on, it will be not just for fun.
She learns how to play drums for the entire month.
And today she`s going to have an exam, that won`t be easy.
Today she will record a song, the song that will be on a new album of our band,
band that must not be named…
so let's go and look how what`s going on there…
I forget about the snare!
It will be very funny.
And also we get to enjoy Ivan's emotions and share his feelings about this recording session.
Here we go.
Here is our main hero, also main villain, also a person who turns on metronome to all of us – Ivan.
Today, exactly he will make fun of Lera's debut performance. Amen.
Today, comrades, we will observe how this young talent breaks this beautiful drums.
I don't know why she`s doing it, but it looks so cute.
It is just a horse. It`s innocent, but he is forced to listen to it.
Again please.
Ivan feels happy)
Very HAPPY!!!
So, we're done drum records for today.
I did it successfully.
This song will be as a bonus track on our upcoming album and will be with drums.
And all other songs will be without.
I think that's all.
We finally finished. We did it. It is already dark outside,
but Lera dealt with it.
Why does a band need a drummer, if I can record cool drum parts?
Is it true?
So from now I combine two roles: drums and vocal.
That's all for today.
Lera got her deserved reward.
Tomorrow we will continue the recordings of the drums, but for other songs.
But it is another story.

STOP BEING LAZY - Duration: 4:26.-------------------------------------------
LIFE UPDATE! The last one for a while, I swear! Details inside! - Duration: 7:21.Hey guys!
So... long time no see... [laughs]
I know I haven't been on here much probably in the last month or so? Yeah.
So there's been a couple of reasons for why I haven't been around, so I thought I'd just
give ya... get you up to speed on what's going on with me.
The most recent and most pressing issue, and reason I haven't been around is that I very
recently lost my job. Yay.
I do... well, I guess still do [laughs]... contract work for the government.
The company that I work for lost the contract with the government when they were renegoiating,
so a new company took over.
And so because my company lost the contract, I am now out of a job.
So for the first few days there, everything was up in the air, my life kind of exploded,
I didn't know which way was up, I didn't know what I was doing.
Everything's settled now, my last day is October the 13th.
I don't know if this is gonna go up before then or not, but...
I'm still working until October the 13th, and that's going to allow me to receive a
severance package, so that has taken a lot of the stress out of the situation; knowing
that I've got a few months' worth of pay coming that will sort of help with some unknowns
in the future.
So... it's okay.
All in all, it's okay.
I mean, I'm not happy about being unemployed - that's a little scary, I haven't been unemployed
in 4 1/2 years - but it's okay.
I've been wanting to make a change, I've been wanting to move on and do something different,
so this is-- I'm taking this as my window of opportunity to do that.
Granted, I don't know what the change is gonna be; I don't really know what I want to move
on to yet, which is another reason the severance package helps, because it gives me some time
to figure that out.
I do know that the things that have made me happy lately have been crafting, bullet journalling,
making YouTube videos.
I just haven't had time to really do a lot of that.
So I'm hoping to use this newfound free time that I have to focus more on crafting and
on YouTube videos, and on getting back into bullet journalling, because I want start sort of
planning out all this time that I'm gonna have now; I don't want to waste it.
While I've got free time I wanna use it!
So I wanna start really planning in my bullet journal more, and figuring out how to spend
my time productively as much as possible.
And I want to use that time to explore the things that are making me happy and see if
maybe I can even sorta... figure out a way to make some of it into a bit of an income stream,
even if it's just a side hustle, like a little bit of money on the side.
At least now I have the time to figure that out.
I don't know how well that's going to work, but I'm going to play around with it and we'll
see what happens.
So I'm hoping that, despite the negative of losing my job, the positive will be, I'll
be able to focus more on this channel, getting through my video backlog and getting up all
the old videos I haven't got up, being able to get new content up in a more timely manner,
as opposed to a month or two months later.
So I'm hoping that that's gonna... once I finish this last week of work I can start
focussing on that, and get caught up, and get back in the swing of things with you guys,
cuz I miss you guys!
I miss interacting with you guys, and I miss sharing things with you guys... so I'm excited
to use some of this time for that.
The other issue I have isn't job related, but it's probably the number one reason my
videos have been so slow, probably even more than the lack of time - been so slow to get
the videos up, I mean - and that is the closed captioning.
I've been doing closed captioning on my videos from the beginning, from the very first one,
because I've been a regular watcher now for a while of a YouTuber named Rikki Poynter,
I will link her below.
She's a really great YouTuber, and she just happens to be deaf, and one of her big, I
guess social issues, that she talks a lot about is about how important closed captioning is.
And I've really learned a lot about how important that is for viewers who are in various levels
of hearing loss and hearing issues.
It's also helpful for people who are learning English as a second language, and maybe don't
fully understand what you're saying.
I know for me personally, I mumble.
So I understand that not everyone's going to understand me, because even though I'm
trying to speak clearly, sometimes I'm still not speaking clearly.
So to have those captions there, so if you want to watch my videos, but you can't make
out half the stuff I'm saying [laughs], it'll be right there.
The problem I'm having is that captions seem to be taking me forever to do.
YouTube does have an auto-caption feature, and I used that for my very first video on
this channel.
But the problem is, it's not accurate at all, and when you've got someone like myself who
mumbles, it's even less accurate!
I think I spent more time correcting those auto-captions than I do (did) writing out the captions myself.
That's how bad they were! [laughs]
So I do transcribe the captions myself - I go back and watch my videos, and pause and
write, and pause and write - and it takes a long time and it's a major pain in the ass.
I know it's important, that's why I do it, but that is absolutely my number one reason
to slow me down, is just... captions.
So, starting with, actually the video I just filmed - I just filmed a haul for October
- and then obviously I'm filming this one... both of them I am...
I've sort of written out a script.
I'm not following it word for word, but that way I've got a basic idea of what I'm going
to say already written down.
And I'm hoping that will speed me up as far as captions, because then instead of having
to "watch a couple seconds, pause, write it down, watch a couple seconds, pause, write
it down", I can watch and just follow along with the captions and just pause when I need
to change something.
And I'm hoping that'll speed it up, because I understand that captions are important;
I know if you are a hard of hearing or deaf YouTube viewer, it is hard to find videos
that are both closed captioned, and accurately closed captioned.
So I do think that's important, I want to keep this channel accessible...
I don't really know how to make it accessible to people with visual impairments, so if you
are a person with visual impairments and you'd like to let me know how to make it more accessible
for you, please let me know in the comments below.
Also if you know of any faster, less pain-in-the-ass ways [laughs] to caption videos, please let
me know in the comments below.
I know there are pay-per... pay-for-caption services like Rev and stuff like that, but...
I just lost my job, I don't really wanna pay a service when I can do it myself for free.
So if you have any tips on how to be quicker and more accurate on getting captions up,
so that once I'm done a video it will go up sometime, you know... after I'm finished
it, instead of weeks later when I finally finish the captions?
Please let me know in the comments below.
So that's about it!
I just wanted to fill you guys in on what's going on.
I'm hoping to be around more often in the next... well, after the next week.
And like I said, catch up on all that backlog, and bring you new things, and making things,
and sharing those things with you.
I'm excited about that aspect of unemployment [laughs], so I'm hoping I can catch up on
some stuff sooner than later.
I hope you guys will continue to be patient with me; I really appreciate you sticking
around despite my not being around.
And that's about it!
I will see you guys... hopefully pretty soon!
Okay, bye.

12 Signs It's Time To Move On From a Relationship - Duration: 10:07.12 Signs It's Time To Move On From a Relationship
Are you in a relationship that feels like it may be over?
Do you feel it's time to move on?
You know, if you're in a relationship that seems to be going nowhere, perhaps it's
time to move on.
So, if you think you are stuck in your pseudo-relationship, in this video I'm going to share with you
12 signs to know when it's the time to move on from your relationship.
And, actually this signs will apply to friendships as well.
If you find this information is helpful to you,
make sure to like this video and subscribe to this channel so you won't miss any of our
interesting updates in the future!
1.
When you live in past memories more than the present.
Do you replay the happy moments of the relationship to make you feel good about it?
Do you use them as reasons to continue on with him or her?
If so, it's a sign your current relationship isn't how you want it to be.
The more we live in the past memories and or or a self-created future, the more we are
living in a self-created reality.
This is dangerous since it's not reflective of the actual state of the relationship.
Remember your relationship with the person exists in the current moment, not in the past.
Past memories should remain as memories and not as a reason to stay together.
Your decision on whether to stay with the person should be based on your current feelings
for him or her, the actual state of the relationship and the
future you see with him or her.
2.
When the relationship brings you more pain than joy.
Sometimes, we tend to be blinded by the past happy moments of the relationship.
To the extent we forget about all the unhappiness it brings us.
If your relationship leaves you frustrated, upset, or unhappy more often than not;
If your relationship is leaving you in tears every so often, perhaps this might not be
the right person for you.
The relationship you are in now should be one which brings you happiness now.
Just like before, if the main source of happiness of your relationship is from past memories,
something is amiss.
3.
When he or she expects you to change.
The truest form of love is one that's unconditional.
Your partner shouldn't expect you to change, unless it's for your well-being (such as
to quit smoking or to adopt a healthier diet).
But expects you to change such as to dress up more often to look prettier, or to lose
more weight when you're actually perfectly normal,
it isn't a good sign!
4.
When you stay on, expecting he or she will change.
The above applies for the other person as much as it applies for you.
If you are staying on or getting into the relationship expecting the person to change,
you are in this for the wrong reason.
You are trying to change the person to fit your expectations, rather than accept him
or her as the individual he or she is.
The worst thing is, if the other person isn't conscious, he or she will keep changing just
to fit your expectations.
In the end, he or she will just end up being your shadow.
5.
When you keep justifying his or her actions to yourself.
Whenever we experience a situation we're uncomfortable about, we experience cognitive
dissonance.
It refers to the discomfort from being faced with something that conflicts against our
beliefs.
When this happens, we try to come up with explanations, justifications so we can feel
good about the situation.
This if we feel the need to justify an action, that means we are uncomfortable with the action
itself and we want to explain away the discomfort.
The danger behind this is that the explanations are self-created and may or may not be true.
If you are repeatedly justifying his or her actions, the relationship becomes built on
your rationalizations, rather than the reality.
Likelihood is that you are living in your world of false assurances rather than the
truth.
To see reality as it is, see the actions as they are and let them speak for themselves.
Actions ultimately speak louder than words.
6.
When he or she is causing you emotional, physical, or verbal hurt.
Physical and verbal abuse are absolutely 'No'.
There is clearly something wrong if the other party abuses, hits, curses, or swears at you,
no matter how he or she tries to make up for it later.
Even if it may be the spur of the moment, the fact that he or she lets slip in that
moment shows there is something deep inside him or her that needs addressing.
Emotional hurt is trickier.
A lot of people negate emotional hurt because it's not visible.
Ignore it, and it's not there.
But emotional hurt is hurt all the same, if not worse.
The wounds that are hardest to heal are the emotional ones, not the physical ones.
7.
When the same situation or issue recurs even though you tried addressing it.
Once might be a coincidence.
Twice, you might want to give another chance.
But 3 times is a clear sign something is wrong.
Do you find yourself in replay mode in your relationship?
Do you keep landing in the same situation, the same scenario, the same outcome, time
and again, no matter what you do?
If so, perhaps you need to accept this is the furthest the relationship can get to.
You can keep pressing on, but it's a matter of time before it sinks in that there's
nothing further to go.
This is the end of the road.
There is a future for you and him or her, and this relationship isn't the route to
that future.
8.
When he or she puts little to no effort in the relationship.
Every relationship requires effort by the duo.
The same applies for familial bonds, friendships, mentorships and most definitely love.
Both of you have to commit to the relationship together.
If you are constantly the one putting in more effort, sooner than later it'll drain you.
You have to give more and more just to keep the relationship afloat.
Unless this imbalance is addressed, it will only become bigger and bigger over time.
Soon you sink your whole self into it, losing your self identity in the process.
9.
When your fundamental values and beliefs are different.
For any friendship or relationship to work out, there has to be certain similarity in
fundamental values.
Similarity in these values are the big rocks which will hold the friendship in place.
Even if other things are dissimilar, the big rocks will enable the friendship to weather
through even the toughest storms ahead.
On the other hand, if your core values are fundamentally different, it doesn't matter
even if everything else is the same.
The journey to keep the relationship together will only become an uphill battle.
It's just like trying to hold the soil of the ground together in a heavy rain.
Without the roots of the tree to hold this soil together, everything will just slip away
against your best efforts.
10.
When the relationship holds you back, hence preventing both of you from growing as individuals.
A relationship is ultimately a third entity formed due to two individuals.
Every relationship evolves based on how both parties are growing.
Sometimes both parties grow at the same pace.
There are times where the relationship is one of stagnancy, where both parties don't
grow.
Then there are times when one outgrows the other, by a large margin.
When this happens, you have two options: change the dynamics of the relationship to fit this
new development, or change yourself to maintain the same dynamics.
It's more important to first be true to ourselves.
Determine who you are and who you want to be, then decide if this relationship is one
that is compatible with you.
A relationship that hinders you from growing into your own isn't the best one for you.
11.When you stay on, expecting things to get better.
This is similar to the first, except it pertains to the future.
Just like how you don't live in the past, you don't live in the future.
You can hope that the future will be better, but the fact is you live now.
If the only thing that's making you hold on is the hope of a better future, the relationship
isn't exactly built on solid grounds.
The future you wish for is one of the many possibilities that can occur, a possibility
that may never come to reality.
It's dangerous to base the fate of the relationship on something that might not occur.
A building built on a shaky foundation will crash to an unsightly end when the foundation
gives way.
12.
When neither of you feel the same way about each other.
Things change.
People change.
If the feelings are no longer there, it's time to move on.
Some of you might linger on in a relationship even though the feelings are gone.
Perhaps it has become part of your routine and you don't know what to do once you break
away.
Some of you continue on because the relationship still serves certain functional purposes,
such as companionship.
Yet, a relationship without the mutual feelings is like a body without a heart.
There's no soul or life in it.
If you no longer have feelings for the other party, staying on is doing the other person
an injustice.
More importantly, it's doing you a huge injustice.
It's best for him or her and you to part ways so you can move to better places.
If the other person doesn't have feelings for you anymore, holding on to him or her
only drags out the misery.
Realize that "True love doesn't have a happy ending, because true love never ends.
Letting go is one way of saying I love you."
Just because you love the person doesn't mean you have to be with the person.
True love exists outside of the physical fabric of a relationship.
This is just a form of expression of love, but in no way is the single definition of
love.
All in all, that's all you need to know when it's the time to move on from your relationship.
Really cool information isn't it?

Shibori Dyeing | In the Studio with Steven Sabados | CBC Life - Duration: 32:18.Okay, I can't get any tighter that's good
Hey everybody welcome to my studio today we're gonna be doing a really really
cool project we're gonna be doing the art of shibori dyeing the actual art
form of shibori and how to do it is very expensive but today we're gonna do a
shibori cheat and for this we're just gonna use some fabric dyes that you can
get in a lot of fabric stores and/or art supply stores but the thing what we want
is we want these really rich deep Navy indigo dyes no other colour just that the
first reported cheat that we're gonna do is the pebble shibori and the
supplies we'll need for that literally a bunch of smooth river pebbles all
different sizes that's always best then we're also gonna need some fabric dye
and again like I said art supply stores or fabric stores have this but you just
want navy blue deep deep rich dark dark indigo and from there just a t-shirt
cotton t-shirt again just really really simple and this is the kind of thing
that you may want to you know maybe have a few shirts going try it out first
maybe on a scrap piece of fabric to kind of see how it works before you get into
it we'll also need rubber bands and I have an entire jar here of all different
size of rubber bands so to get started this is so simple so we're gonna have
the front of our t-shirt here we're gonna get a river pebble we're gonna
place it underneath the shirt but this will create in the end or almost these
little starburst which is it really interesting so we have the pebble under
the shirt then we take a rubber band and
just wind it around the tighter the better because when it's really really
tight you'll sort of see that it'll create these like really cool like
little starburst so we're gonna do that we're gonna get another river pebble and
the cool thing is because the river pebbles are different sizes and
different shapes you're gonna kind of get these sort of abstract kind of
patterns and then maybe we'll use a fatter elastic and wrap that around I
know it looks really really bizarre and again this actual technique oddly
enough is centuries-old which is kind of cool and I guess you know back in the
day they would do this on all sorts of like cool fabrics for ceremonial sort of
things or for art forms or like I said tapestries to hang and they actually
used river pebbles probably not elastics but river pebbles and the cool thing
with this like I said is that you don't really know what's gonna happen it's um
it's the the fun is in doing it and then when you sort of cut the river pebbles
off and all this sort of like cool sort of starburst in this and the art sort of
it's just it's just sort of shown to you which is really it's really cool so I
know this like looks really bizarre
here's what we're looking for right kind of looks like nothing right now but
trust me when this all sort of gets in the dye and all comes out it'll be
really really cool but again just keep doing this with different River pebbles
and it's all about experimenting right there's no right way or wrong way
I found this really massive wide rubber band here which is kind of cool so when
I put this around it what will happen is that it because it's covering more
surface area the t-shirt it's gonna give sort of a more diffuse sort of like
starburst which is kind of neat and again man let's see what happens so as
you can see right now so we have all the river pebbles sort of in place here so
what's gonna happen is that we're gonna create these little these little bursts
right so if we want the bursts to sort of overlap what we can do and again it's
all experimenting right so we're just gonna grab two river pebbles okay we're
going to then invert it tuck it back and then let's place an elastic here and
wrap it around again this is all just trial and error experimenting playing
around you know that's why I get a whole whack of t-shirts and or pieces of
fabric and just sort of try it out and see what happens let's let's do that
again maybe over here let's take these two guys okay and as you can see we'll
take them we'll grab them we'll flip them and then
with you know what let's get a really wide elastic here yeah and then let's
wrap that around you're not gonna do I think this is kind of cool so let's get
an elastic now and let's wrap this around this I think the more contorted
and the more sort of layers that you can do and like look at our t-shirt now
right it's unrecognizable but that's sort of where we want to go and you know
what let's let's do it again with this let's let's
flip one and it's invert it the other way shall we alright okay I think this
will probably the last one otherwise we could do this all day and we just sort
of want to create an interesting pattern here so from here we can leave this okay
that's good to go that's ready to die but before we do that let's get to the
other one so we can put this aside and the other one is a really really cool
technique it's it's where we're gonna take a big piece of fabric because this
one we're gonna actually stretch on a frame and create a piece of art with and
this we have a large piece of cotton again just white cotton from from the
fabric store okay and again get it as large as you want again we're gonna
stretch this on the screen and make a big piece of art so if you want to start
small to begin with or start big and experiment you can totally do that and
from here it's about folding so what we're gonna do is we're gonna fold it in
half okay fold it in half again fold
that in half again okay now you're down and from here we can fold that so I'm
folding these because I have two wooden blocks and these again can be any size
they could be quite small these ones here are just a few inches square and
what we're gonna do we want to create this sort of this repetitive square sort
of I guess the image on the on the fabric so we're folding it like I said
just almost like an organic kind of there's no real right or wrong about it
but we just want the fabric to be nice and even like that right okay and then
we're gonna take these wooden blocks and we're gonna place one on the top one on
the bottom right in the center so what we created basically as you can see is
like a fabric sandwich right so we have our two pieces of wood
we have our fabric in the center there sort of as you can see our sandwich or
our bread is quite small but all our insides are spilling out this we want
like a just a little bit of fabric on the outside you can see lots of fabric
all the folds here happening here now we're gonna get wood clamps know
these clamps are again you can get at any hardware store okay we're gonna
place it on one side here for now I'm just gonna just clamp it down so it's
just has a good grip and then I'm gonna get the other side and clamp this down
okay now from here it's really good to use
all your force we want these clamps to be as tight as you can get them what
we're trying to do is we're trying to squeeze the fabric really really tight
and that will then stop any of the dye sort of like oozing into the fabric
that's in the center it's gonna kind of create these multis squares and again
this is something that you just want to play around with and see how it's going
to go again I don't know what this is going to look like until we die it and
and and review it but that's the fun in it
and this part here again really really really tight so we have our clamps ready
we have our t-shirt ready with our pebbles now we're ready to get into our
dye bath okay so from here we have our fabric dye get your rubber gloves and we
have just coarse salt so the salt really helps the dye adhere to the fabric so a
good generous amount of salt okay and there's two different sort of dodgy
you can use there's a fabric dye which is a liquid and then the fabric dye
that's a powder and again they both come in indigo you can mix and match whatever
I find the fabric or the the liquid dyed to be a better one for me it's just a
bit stronger you know on the manufacturers thing here it'll say you
know a few drops per gallon or whatever in this case we really want to overdo it
because we want to have that indigo so intense and so rich I kind of add a lot
so you may want to double triple again we can look at it so I've dumped the
whole bottle into here I'm just gonna get a paintbrush okay now we're gonna
stir it up at this point again you want to be doing this in a basement or
somewhere if this dice or the splashes on something it's gonna be permanent on
your clothes I'm wearing Navy we're all good and especially for your hands make
sure you have some really good rubber gloves okay because once this die so
that gets on your hands it's gonna take a while to wash off so from here we can
add more dye if we want but let's see how this is gonna go right submerge
everything in okay here goes our clamp sandwich right you can kind of hear the
air bubbles happening here which means that the dye is going in which is really
really good even now I'm gonna add a little bit more
of the indigo dye in a powder form once you have everything submerged in the dye
you want to leave it don't really mess around with it too much and let it sit
15 20 minutes half hour again depending 20 minutes might be enough we're gonna
let this soak and we can come back in a minute in the meantime make sure you
really clean your hands well so it's been about 20 minutes or so that this
has been in here again depending 20 minutes half hour this is kind of one of
the things that you can kind of play around with right so you can we can see
the intensity and again your time lines can change so from here just get a
regular grocery bag and we're gonna take and this is the messy part okay so make
sure that again your clothes are covered whatever it's gonna get covered in dye
will get covered and dye that's why I have a drop cloth here on the on the
table squeeze out the excess as much as you can and then place this in the
grocery bag we're gonna spin that up and now that can sort of sit for four hours
five hours again what's gonna happen now is that this dye is just gonna just sort
of sit and just really soak into the fabric and same thing here we have our
clamp sandwich right we're gonna place that in the bag so if you skip this step
and you just went right into a rinsing step what will happen is you just won't
get that really intense indigo color that we're looking for which is okay
which is fine it'll just be a lighter sort of version of it so again we're
gonna let that sit I'm gonna clean up these dye baths and again as you can see
this is a messy project garage basement something like that please do not do
this on the kitchen counter now for this age this is the rinsing stage so you
could do this in a utility sink if you have it do not do it like in your
kitchen sink kitchen sink if it was stainless steel but don't do it in a
ceramic sink again just for the dye so we have our plastic bin here I've got
my bucket of water
I have a utility sink here but it's really really small so I find this to be
much much easier again we want to have some rubber gloves we don't need our big
industrial gloves just a pair of thin ones will do now here this is the magic
moment we're gonna take our first t-shirt with the pebbles okay what we
want to do now is just sort of rinse off some of that dye right and squeeze some
of that out look at that great color that's stunning it's that beautiful rich
indigo color okay and squeeze out the excess now a good point for this what I
like to do is if you have a towel place it in a towel I can we have our old
studio towels here right and do this just roll it up squeeze out all that
excess water and die you know it's like getting in pizza dough see there we go
yeah that's great and okay so we have that
so from here guys we're gonna get our art clamp project we're gonna place this
in and again just give it a good rinse not taking out of the clamps just yet
because if I were to do that and then remove it all this die that's sort of
sitting around the bath it'll get into the white fabric and it'll just become
sort of like blue and ruined so from there
I'm gonna do that and even from here now you can let this sit for a few minutes
even an hour so again you just want to sort of drip dry and all that excess
that water come off but can I get really impatient so I really want to see what's
happening so from here this is where the magic happens get a pair of scissors dry
your hands off and we start to snip the elastics okay again just make sure that
you don't snip the fabric you don't cut the shirt and we can start to remove the
stones
okay see when you remove the stone see these really cool starbursts that we get
that's what we're looking for the great thing with this is that look we're using
elastics and river pebbles so really inexpensive the river pebbles we can use
a thousand times put them back in a planter and inexpensive elastic so for
an artform this is really cool and cost-effective yeah that's cool right so
you kind of get these these cool bursts that are happening within each other
yeah I really need stuff
here's sort of a another inverted one that we did wrapping around these two
coming up again some just some really neat sort of shapes that's the thing if
you're gonna be doing this say for like a t-shirt or some you know even if you
can do it on bedding which is really really cool
each one's gonna be completely different right so it is in that sense one of a
kind you can never recreate it exactly you
can sort of create these these same shapes but you'll never get something
that's identical so that's that's the beauty of this that it's all unique I
think that's all of them
so from here we just need to smooth it out a bit because those rocks left some
pretty interesting peaks so you can see on this t-shirt which is really cool see
the the stitching say around the collar and here at the bottom as well it's
synthetic stitching so that's why I didn't die so that's a great point that
you know don't use synthetic materials to use this use like cotton linen silk
anything with the natural fiber but remember I was talking about those
inverted stones so that's what this did where we had that too and then we
flipped it on itself and these are just individual little bursts and each one is
very different there ones look like a jellyfish or something right you know
and it's just sort of really cool and then even on the back we've got those
two that are inverted again through here and you get this sort of like this cool
cosmos kind of thing happening I'm gonna put it over here to dry before we get to
our clamp links I've got a really good surface here to work on so now we can
get to the clamp on it let's unclamp these let's see what happens
again the cool thing with this is that you kind of don't really know what's
gonna happen but already you can see that there's some kind of interesting
things okay ready
Wow yeah it's really cool okay
okay so let's see and this actually was quite a big piece of fabric this to me
is awesome it's exactly what we wanted exactly look at all these like really
cool squares and you get that that beautiful fade going into the white so
I'm just gonna gently put this on the easel
now we're gonna frame this into a piece of art and I want to frame it while it's
wet because what will happen is that the wet fabric will slowly dry and they'll
get really really tight so I'm just gonna quickly clean up everything and
get ready for the framing process okay so I have my my stretcher frame so what
I have here are we're gonna stretchy a piece of art this is gonna be 40 inches
square so these are stretcher frames you can get at any art supply store and it's
really an inexpensive way of creating your own framed art so everything comes
pre done they come they're all pre mitered they're all slutted in and you
literally as you can see slot them together that's it right we can secure
it with a staple right we're just stapling the edges together there and
these guys again look at the queasy that is they slot right in perfectly mitered
okay there created our frame simple and easy now to get our fabric fabric
and again this we all want to do while it's wet and reason being is that when
it dries it'll tighten which means we really want the the the art itself to be
really tight on this frame so normally I would do this on the floor because you
need sort of a big surface area to work on but since everybody's here I can do
this on the table so you can see it a lot easier and I've got some overhang
and I have all this excess fabric here that I'm going to cut that's good
sharp scissors are a must not sure okay so I've got this great piece of fabric
Dale we can just put aside and use it for something else it's kind of cool
okay so with a really good good staple gun we're gonna stay Paul say three
staples right in the center go to your opposite end and again the fabric is
damp right so it's gonna be nice and stretchy and from here we're gonna give
it a bit of a pull one two three staples and now from here pick it up okay and
we're gonna do the exact same thing we're gonna go from the center okay and
we're gonna do one two three and here we're gonna give it a good good
tug okay and we're gonna do one tug to tug three now the reason we're doing all
of this was working from the center out is because we want this center part to
be as tight as possible so for just a start on an end you'd probably get a bit
of a sag so from here we know that this is like tight as a drum and then now we
can go again from here we're gonna go one two pulling tight one two opposite
side exact same thing from here pulling really tight pulling really tight
again gonna do the exact same thing on the other side yeah if you're unhappy
with where you place the staple just get a pair of scissors and you can kind of
pop the staple out and kind of go again so no need to worry and you can see here
this is really nice and tight you want a really good bounce here so the fabric is
still damp so as it dries it's just gonna get tighter which is really good
so cuz we don't want that the fabric to be all sort of like wonky and sloppy
so from here you can see I've got like a ton of excess sort of hanging off the
back and this we need to cut off but I'll just get a better pair of scissors
here and this excess is we can cut off you want maybe about maybe not even an
inch sort of see where the wood frame is so we want to sort of match where the
wood frame is roughly again doesn't have to be perfect
now we're ready to do the corners so for the corners what you want to do is pull
your fabric up tight give it a staple and then with this other piece tuck it
in and fold this over and you'll see you get that perfect little corner line
that's what we're looking for and then see all this excess fabric what we can
do is we can fold it under and staple it in it'll be nice and tidy on the back
okay so let's get to another corner again we're gonna pull the fabric in
we're gonna tack that we're gonna tuck the corner piece under we're gonna fold
it over and you get that nice clean line
okay so that's all the corners done let's see what it looks like awesome see
it's nice and tight cool thing is that you know what it's sort of all organic
we've got some sort of waving lines but love all this sort of this darkness and
this sort of this fading quality and that's the thing that every single one's
gonna be completely different right so we're gonna just put it over here to dry
I just think this looks so awesome and I almost like the way you got this sort of
this subtle arc in this wave and as it's gonna dry it's gonna sort of like
lighten up and all these little dark spots so it's gonna kind of give it a
bit of play the t-shirt I think looks so cool
again it's still a bit wet but again see all these like that really cool sort of
like double knotting we kind of did and the back is so so cool so I hope you
guys really enjoyed this shibori sheet project as much as I love doing it and
make sure you send me pictures of how this inspired you for some of your
projects I would love to see them take care we'll see you soon everybody
you
