Today morning we arrived here in Narva
And now we're going to Kreenholm island located in a river at the border of Estonia and Russia
This Kreenholm factory has been huge
In Soviet Union times there has been more than 12 000 workers here
There was the largest strike in Europe in 1872
This monument is a memorial for the strike
When there was no border here between Estonia and Soviet Union
There was a bridge here behind me to the Soviet Union
The people of Narva used this bridge to go to Soviet Union to go and buy cookies, for example, or to visit shops that they didn't have here in Narva
Now we're inside the only factory building that you can safely enter during these tours here
You can see these pillars on both sides
The uppert part of the pillars is from the 19th century
But when the machines were modernized the hall started to shake more, and also because of the age, the pillars were covered with concrete
So that the pillars wouldn't break
These days you can find pictures from the workers family albums here on the pillars
Through these photos you can see how this factory was like back in the days
It's a rough, abandoned and cool looking factory area
You can visit here on a tour every Sunday at noon
But they've also made new plans here
They've planned that this cotton warehouse area I'm standing at right now
They're planning on building a museum here
They've made plans to even open a hotel or hostel here in these warehouses
These are only the plans at the moment but let's keep our thumbs up they'll keep this amazing place in shape so it won't collapse
There are a few interesting details here
You can see that the lamps are located outside of the buildings, especially here in the cotton warehouse area
And everywhere you can see these "no smoking" signs
So that they could avoid fires
As you may guess, cotton and fabrics in general are very flammable
You can also see huge water towers on every corner of the factory building
So they've really payed a lot of effort for the fire safety here
You can also find sprinklers in the halls here
The sprinklers also regulated the humidity, which was very modern technology back in the day
Behind me you can see the large damn which is controlled by Russia
The damn is opened only when the water level rises high on the other side
No-one in Narva knows when the damn is opened
It's a surprise even for the people of Narva
Kreenholm is not the only sight here in Narva
You can also find the gorgeous Narva castle and bastion here
Let's go and adventure the Narva bastion a bit
There's a lot to see here
Like you've seen on our videos
One day isn't enough here in Narva to experience everything
There's Kreenholm, Narva castle, museums and nice places to eat like Kohvik Muna
This "Café Egg" is located on the university campus
I have a feeling that we should come back here one day
So let's hope Lanttimatkat travels will take us back here again
This is awesome!
This is exactly what I needed!
This one's even colder!
It keeps getting colder
What what?
Ice cubes
If you're feeling too hot
Nooo, you can't do that!
Some kind of clay
And salt
We've spend one night here at Toila Spa
It was quite a nice place
I'd like to especially note that there's a K18 spa area
You can find several saunas and baths there
They were awesome
Coffee tea and fruits were also included in the lounge area
This place is worth visiting especially for the K18 spa
There's also a nice park close by where we took a walk this morning
[Purtse Castle]
Our tour here in Ida-Virumaa is coming to an end
On our way back to Tallinn we ate lunch here at Purtse Castle
The food here was just amazing
You should definitely visit here from Tallinn for the food
I'm sure the amount of tourists in East Estonia, Ida-Virumaa, will rise in the future
Now's the time to visit here
There's still plenty of space for tourists here
By coming here now you can experience Ida-Virumaa before the tourist masses
Let's go
