In an interview on the Trinity Broadcasting Network on Saturday evening, U.S. President
Donald Trump claimed that North Korea's nuclear weapons program should have been taken care
of 25 years ago, blaming his predecessors for mishandling the issue.
President Trump pointed at former President Bill Clinton for paying billions of dollars
to the regime but failing to bring results.
In 1994, Pyongyang agreed to freeze its plutonium-based weapons program in return for economic rewards,
but the deal was scrapped in 2003 after Washington accused the regime of running a secret uranium-based
nuclear program.
Trump also emphasized that the U.S. has a very strong military, and said that now more
than ever is the time to have a great military.
The president has often spoken about using military options against North Korea when
necessary, and on Saturday tweeted that agreements and negotiations have made U.S. negotiators
a fool, and that 'only one thing' will work with the regime.
In an interview with NBC on Sunday, Director of the White House Office of Management and
Budget Mick Mulvaney said that the president is clearly sending the message that military
options are on the table with North Korea.
Trump remarked last week that the current period may be the calm before the storm, raising
speculation of possible military action against Pyongyang.

S. Korean President Moon praises excellence of Korean alphabet on Hangul Day - Duration: 0:47.

In his Facebook post on Monday, the liberal leader noted... the greatest thing about the
Korean alphabet is that it was created so that ordinary people could express their thoughts
and communicate more easily.
In that sense, the pioneering move made by King Sejong is in line with the spirit of

Moon posted photos from the UN General Assembly last month where he saw a metal printing plate
of the "Weol-in-cheon-gang-ji-gok," a compilation of hymns written by King Sejong in hangeul,
on display at the UN headquarters.
The president also shed light on how ethnic Koreans in Russia are working to preserve
the written and spoken home language... and pledged to beef up support efforts to protect
and promote Korean culture and heritage.

South Korea's Q3 growth rate to be in zero percent range - Duration: 0:31.

Korea's Prime Minister calls on peace on the Korean Peninsula at his Hangeul Day... - Duration: 1:59.
Today, October 9th is 'Hangeul Day' here in Korea.
Various ceremonies and festivals are held to commemorate the invention of the Korean
alphabet.
One particular event brought together people from all walks of life ranging from diplomats
to students.
The highlights was a congratulatory speech by the nation's Prime Minister.
Cha Sang-me starts us off with the message that comes in the wake of ongoing verbal battles
over the peninsula.
Commemorating the 5-hundred-and-71st anniversary of the invention of the Korean alphabet, Prime
Minister Lee Nak-yon gave a speech during a ceremony at the Sejong Center for the Performing
Arts in Seoul on Monday.
During the speech, he highlighted the intentions of King Sejong the Great, who created 'Hangeul'
in the 15th century.
"Recently the war of words surrounding our territory is getting harsher.
I am sure King Sejong the Great wouldn't have expected these tough times would come when
he invented Hangeul."
Prime Minister Lee claimed that the people of the Korean Peninsula -- both South and
North -- are descendants of King Sejong and that he would have dreamt of us exchanging
heartfelt words and living in peace and prosperity.
Lee also underscored his resolve in maintaining peace in the region.
"Our government will continue to cooperate with the international community to keep pressuring
and convincing North Korea.
We will also never forget -- no matter how big the problem gets between the South and
the North -- to resolve any issues in a peaceful manner."
Lee expressed the government's regrets over the current situation with North Korea and
said they will be the first to reflect on whether they are using the "sacred meaning"
of Korean language and symbols correctly.
The prime minister also honored various people who have helped spread the Korean language
around the world, and brought up the increasing popularity of Korean, with more and more people
studying it as their second language.
