Waching daily Apr 24 2018

For outsiders, Cape Town can appear to be a symbol of post-apartheid South Africa.

The coastal city is promoted as a top destination for its diversity of food, landscapes and cultures.

But for black South Africans, life in Cape Town is

steeped in the lasting legacy of apartheid – the system of white minority

rule that has left the country's black majority poor and powerless.

Though apartheid was officially terminated in 1994, throughout South Africa

neighborhoods remained structurally segregated, and the vast majority of

black citizens remain locked in grinding poverty.

I'm going to show you how Cape Town was designed to keep racial groups separated,

and how those divisions persist today.

Cape Town's layout provides a striking example of the clear socioeconomic

divisions between South Africans. I'm standing in a township that reflects the

living conditions of most black Capetonians: poor and under-resourced,

without access to running water, sewage or even electricity. Just next to it is a

white suburb that's worlds apart.

There's no easier way to see this than with a drone. From above you can see the state of the bustling black

township I'm standing in, called Imizamo Yethu. It's a barren, informal settlement made up

mostly of shacks and government-built homes. Literally next to the township is

a white suburb that's overflowing with greenery.

So here's what life looks like for most white Capetonians: nice suburban homes with running water,

protected by walls and alarm systems. Some even have signs specifically

warning black Africans, in their language of Xhosa, of dogs inside.

And the disparity isn't just black-and-white. Here's the color township of Manenburg

to the left, and the informal black settlement of Nyanga to the right.

Unlike black townships, the ghettos of colored people are made up of small

homes, rather than shacks, and have basic services like running water.

Before we go any further, I should break down how racial groups are classified here.

"Colored" is a centuries-old community of diverse heritage that might be called

"Creole" in the U.S. or Caribbean. They're distinguished from "Africans," who are the

city's Xhosa-speaking black population.

While Africans are the vast majority in most of South Africa, in Cape Town coloreds are the largest group.

Africans are a close second. Whites are only 15%, followed by Asians and others.

The segregation we see from above is the legacy of an apartheid system that was

instituted by South Africa's National Party and lasted from 1948 to 1994.

Apartheid further expanded the policies of white domination and racial

segregation that were already in place since the colonial era.

Under the 1950 Group Areas Act, the government created racially segregated areas and forcibly

removed people from neighborhoods reserved for white people.

From 1950 until 1983, one of the largest mass removals in modern history took place.

Here in Cape Town, District 6, where I currently am, had been a booming area in

the heart of the city, with more than 60,000 colored residents. But in the '70s,

the government bulldozed their homes and forced them into windswept housing

projects on the Cape Flats, far from the city centre. Apartheid dictated where

people could live and move about. Africans were issued a "pass," for an ID

document stating where they could live and work. They would be arrested if

police found them in a white neighborhood not designated as their

place of employment. The system was used to bar most Africans from moving to the city in search of jobs.

Instead, they were confined to living in three blighted

townships. In the '80s, hundreds of thousands began moving to the periphery

of the city, building shacks and informal settlements. The legacy of that migration

remains today in poor townships like this one. Part of apartheid 's divide-and-

rule scheme was to give coloreds priority over black Africans for jobs

and housing. But coloreds were also systematically displaced at the expense

of whites. And today, the white minority continues to live near the city centre

and in lush suburbs like this one. And the inequality isn't limited to

neighborhoods. Under apartheid, Cape Town's more exclusive Atlantic Coast

beaches, like this one, used to prohibit blacks. Whites enjoyed their own beaches

like these, while blacks and coloreds had their own beaches, which looked like this.

Today, beachfront areas like Camps Bay still cater to mostly whites. But now,

it's all about who can afford the nice restaurants and shops.

It's this kind of unspoken disparity that continues to permeate Cape Town society.

Studies by local researchers have found that black Africans are almost always less

successful than white people in moving up career paths in Cape Town,

a phenomenon labeled the "ebony ceiling effect."

The inequality here is so stark that Cape Town's GINI index, which economists

use to measure inequality, is 63 out of 100, that's one of the highest in the world.

So why has Cape Town failed to deliver a better life for all since the end of apartheid?

Some blame Cape Town's governance. Cape Town rests within the

province of the Western Cape, which is the only one of South Africa's nine

provinces not run by the governing African National Congress.

That's the anti apartheid party of Nelson Mandela.

Instead, it's run by the Democratic Alliance, which grew out of white liberal establishment politics, but

includes remnants of the old National Party and black middle-class support.

The Democratic Alliance dismisses any claims that Cape Town remains racist.

But it's hard to deny the structural segregation and discrimination that still exists,

even if it is more subtle than it was under apartheid.

Now that Cape Town grapples with a water crisis the world has never seen,

the stark disparity between the haves and have-nots is on full display.

Many black Capetonians have always lived without running water.

Now, others in Cape Town are getting a glimpse into that experience as they line up to collect a

ration of water. But what about everything else?

Will the dream of a truly equitable society ever become reality here?

Hey guys, it's Dena in the township of Imizamo Yethu. Check out the next video in

our playlist that looks at Cape Town's severe water crisis and how it's

affecting everyone. Be sure to comment, share and subscribe to AJ+.

Time Awareness (SAVE Time Live + Your Life NOW) - Duration: 8:25.

time awareness, will help you become better communicator like me, keep watching i know you like Borris but really im Yuri Divine with Russian accent this video will

teach you very important skills so I will further ado I will now outline to

you what we will be learning and then topic we're gonna be looking at first is

time awareness are you aware of the time that you spend and where you spend at

most well I know I'm not always am so how can we better understand and master

our own time we'll keep watching because you're about to find out

it's very good to be aware of our time that we spend together and also most of

point of all what you the viewer spins your time on in your daily life and is

that time spent getting you closer to your goal or is it only taking it

further well it you hear the Russian accent come out and explain to you

better yet show you the time awareness

by the early divine hero of Russian accent and we will be now having a look

at the time awareness and trying to spend our time more effectively so we

can get to the place we want to go a lot faster for this I have decided to type

up every letter in the English alphabet the folks the quick brown fox okay let

me just okay yes let's do this now all right okay then so for this I will now

try to type up on the keyboard by one simple text here one second I might need

to open a word I think we can now I'm gonna open water for this and

we're going to dive in the box because we know the defaults and lazy dog are

you know together sorry I will die there's a quick quick brown fox oh yes

yes I'm just typing I'm trying to drive as fast as I can

the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog okay so the quick brown fox and

jumps oh yes the Fox is an animal it's actually an animal which lives in the

forest and sometimes anyone just trying to type this up and the quick brown fox

jumps oh no it's not the dog it's the Fox that jumps over the dog

first okay now Leah over the lazy knowing the dogs

can sometimes be dangerous but most of the time the dogs are you know lazy oh

yeah like I'm not replying to texts right now okay I'm just doing the video

and there you go so as you can see I've typed up the quick brown fox jumps over

the lazy dog but how long did it take me to type it when really it should have

taken me

dinnertime turn out faster the first time around or the second time

well obviously the second time was a lot faster because I got distracted I got

distracted not once not twice but many times I get distracted while I was

trying to type simple sentence on computer so you can see what happens

when you try to do something distractions come in the distractions

they come inside and they distract you

so don't let them if you have to type sentence then

if you have to type sentence then type it leave distractions around I've put

the phone that phone and I put it on airplane mode especially so don't get

cold during stream like I did last time of cultural Poland anyway moving on the

moral of story is

Time awareness how long did it take me to type sentence was I aware of the time

I was not the first time but a second third time I was aware did you see that

first time took me two minutes diaper but the second and third time a lot

faster so be aware be aware of how long it takes you to do a task time awareness

is very important because if you let those distractions get in the way you

may never reach your goal so now now you have seen classic example of the quick

brown fox jumping over the lazy dog and so what we will do now is move on with

the next part of the training let's do it

unawares is it taking you longer time what you

are doing you must be aware of what you are doing are you aware that what you

are doing is taking you closer moving you further away from your goal be very

very crucially interested whether it's taking you further away or getting you

closer what you're spending your time on I'll leave you to ponder this while we

move on to next part

COLLEGE NIGHT ROUTINE ✨ - Duration: 5:16.

It's spring semester and I can't complain the flowers are blooming and

it's not too hot not too cold in Florida the temperature has been so lovely and I

absolutely love riding my bike around campus so right when I get home I just

lock it right up and then head and find my apartment as you can tell I live off

campus at the University of Florida once I'm inside the very first thing I do

with out fail is change into something super comfy I always love to be cozy

when I'm at home and I also love changing so that I don't get all that

outside germs all over my room then I typically put on my hot pink robe

because it is like wearing a blanket around myself and I just love the

feeling of being cozy in it on this particular day I was super hungry so I

had a right to the kitchen to make myself a little dinner I had some lentil

soup from Trader Joe's which is such an easy meal and so delicious also healthy

which doesn't hurt

and while it's Michael a meme the only natural thing to do is to have a dance

party am i right I typically eat dinner or any meal in my room in front of my

laptop just so I can kind of multitask and get things done while I eat

then of course I wash my dishes so that they are out of the way and I decided to

cut up some celery just so that I would have some veggies with my meal and I

prepared some celery for the rest of the week and then I just went back in my

room spent some more time on my computer editing videos working on homework and

probably procrastinating on social media

and then my favorite time of the night is when I get my piece of dark chocolate

I have it every single night and it is so delicious and such a treat and

perfect way to end my day then it's time for my skincare routine so Chris faces

off all my makeup I've been using a Sephora makeup remover that I really

like and it comes off super easily and the bottle just looks really awesome and

then of course I get my hair out of the way and today I washed my face with the

la fiere milk jelly cleanser

then I use this photonics cleansing solution which really helps me just get

all the rest of my makeup off which is crazy that even after washing my face I

have so much makeup still on my face so definitely taking this extra step helps

a lot then it's time to brush my pearly whites and I've been loving this Tom's

natural toothpaste is completely natural which I absolutely love and I really

love the flavor of it as well super minty and fresh and you can tell that

it's natural then I'm going to take some vitamin C in b12 vitamins

okay so it's just trying to stay healthy then I spend some more time on my

computer just wrapping up some stuff and finally I get cozy in bed and have some

sweet dreams thanks for watching

How we can teach computers to make sense of our emotions | Raphael Arar - Duration: 11:20.

Translator: Ivana Korom Reviewer: Joanna Pietrulewicz

I consider myself one part artist and one part designer.

And I work at an artificial intelligence research lab.

We're trying to create technology

that you'll want to interact with in the far future.

Not just six months from now, but try years and decades from now.

And we're taking a moonshot

that we'll want to be interacting with computers

in deeply emotional ways.

So in order to do that,

the technology has to be just as much human as it is artificial.

It has to get you.

You know, like that inside joke that'll have you and your best friend

on the floor, cracking up.

Or that look of disappointment that you can just smell from miles away.

I view art as the gateway to help us bridge this gap between human and machine:

to figure out what it means to get each other

so that we can train AI to get us.

See, to me, art is a way to put tangible experiences

to intangible ideas, feelings and emotions.

And I think it's one of the most human things about us.

See, we're a complicated and complex bunch.

We have what feels like an infinite range of emotions,

and to top it off, we're all different.

We have different family backgrounds,

different experiences and different psychologies.

And this is what makes life really interesting.

But this is also what makes working on intelligent technology

extremely difficult.

And right now, AI research, well,

it's a bit lopsided on the tech side.

And that makes a lot of sense.

See, for every qualitative thing about us --

you know, those parts of us that are emotional, dynamic and subjective --

we have to convert it to a quantitative metric:

something that can be represented with facts, figures and computer code.

The issue is, there are many qualitative things

that we just can't put our finger on.

So, think about hearing your favorite song for the first time.

What were you doing?

How did you feel?

Did you get goosebumps?

Or did you get fired up?

Hard to describe, right?

See, parts of us feel so simple,

but under the surface, there's really a ton of complexity.

And translating that complexity to machines

is what makes them modern-day moonshots.

And I'm not convinced that we can answer these deeper questions

with just ones and zeros alone.

So, in the lab, I've been creating art

as a way to help me design better experiences

for bleeding-edge technology.

And it's been serving as a catalyst

to beef up the more human ways that computers can relate to us.

Through art, we're tacking some of the hardest questions,

like what does it really mean to feel?

Or how do we engage and know how to be present with each other?

And how does intuition affect the way that we interact?

So, take for example human emotion.

Right now, computers can make sense of our most basic ones,

like joy, sadness, anger, fear and disgust,

by converting those characteristics to math.

But what about the more complex emotions?

You know, those emotions

that we have a hard time describing to each other?

Like nostalgia.

So, to explore this, I created a piece of art, an experience,

that asked people to share a memory,

and I teamed up with some data scientists

to figure out how to take an emotion that's so highly subjective

and convert it into something mathematically precise.

So, we created what we call a nostalgia score

and it's the heart of this installation.

To do that, the installation asks you to share a story,

the computer then analyzes it for its simpler emotions,

it checks for your tendency to use past-tense wording

and also looks for words that we tend to associate with nostalgia,

like "home," "childhood" and "the past."

It then creates a nostalgia score

to indicate how nostalgic your story is.

And that score is the driving force behind these light-based sculptures

that serve as physical embodiments of your contribution.

And the higher the score, the rosier the hue.

You know, like looking at the world through rose-colored glasses.

So, when you see your score

and the physical representation of it,

sometimes you'd agree and sometimes you wouldn't.

It's as if it really understood how that experience made you feel.

But other times it gets tripped up

and has you thinking it doesn't understand you at all.

But the piece really serves to show

that if we have a hard time explaining the emotions that we have to each other,

how can we teach a computer to make sense of them?

So, even the more objective parts about being human are hard to describe.

Like, conversation.

Have you ever really tried to break down the steps?

So think about sitting with your friend at a coffee shop

and just having small talk.

How do you know when to take a turn?

How do you know when to shift topics?

And how do you even know what topics to discuss?

See, most of us don't really think about it,

because it's almost second nature.

And when we get to know someone, we learn more about what makes them tick,

and then we learn what topics we can discuss.

But when it comes to teaching AI systems how to interact with people,

we have to teach them step by step what to do.

And right now, it feels clunky.

If you've ever tried to talk with Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant,

you can tell that it or they can still sound cold.

And have you ever gotten annoyed

when they didn't understand what you were saying

and you had to rephrase what you wanted 20 times just to play a song?

Alright, to the credit of the designers, realistic communication is really hard.

And there's a whole branch of sociology,

called conversation analysis,

that tries to make blueprints for different types of conversation.

Types like customer service or counseling, teaching and others.

I've been collaborating with a conversation analyst at the lab

to try to help our AI systems hold more human-sounding conversations.

This way, when you have an interaction with a chatbot on your phone

or a voice-based system in the car,

it sounds a little more human and less cold and disjointed.

So I created a piece of art

that tries to highlight the robotic, clunky interaction

to help us understand, as designers,

why it doesn't sound human yet and, well, what we can do about it.

The piece is called Bot to Bot

and it puts one conversational system against another

and then exposes it to the general public.

And what ends up happening is that you get something

that tries to mimic human conversation,

but falls short.

Sometimes it works and sometimes it gets into these, well,

loops of misunderstanding.

So even though the machine-to-machine conversation can make sense,

grammatically and colloquially,

it can still end up feeling cold and robotic.

And despite checking all the boxes, the dialogue lacks soul

and those one-off quirks that make each of us who we are.

So while it might be grammatically correct

and uses all the right hashtags and emojis,

it can end up sounding mechanical and, well, a little creepy.

And we call this the uncanny valley.

You know, that creepiness factor of tech

where it's close to human but just slightly off.

And the piece will start being

one way that we test for the humanness of a conversation

and the parts that get lost in translation.

So there are other things that get lost in translation, too,

like human intuition.

Right now, computers are gaining more autonomy.

They can take care of things for us,

like change the temperature of our houses based on our preferences

and even help us drive on the freeway.

But there are things that you and I do in person

that are really difficult to translate to AI.

So think about the last time that you saw an old classmate or coworker.

Did you give them a hug or go in for a handshake?

You probably didn't think twice

because you've had so many built up experiences

that had you do one or the other.

And as an artist, I feel that access to one's intuition,

your unconscious knowing,

is what helps us create amazing things.

Big ideas, from that abstract, nonlinear place in our consciousness

that is the culmination of all of our experiences.

And if we want computers to relate to us and help amplify our creative abilities,

I feel that we'll need to start thinking about how to make computers be intuitive.

So I wanted to explore how something like human intuition

could be directly translated to artificial intelligence.

And I created a piece that explores computer-based intuition

in a physical space.

The piece is called Wayfinding,

and it's set up as a symbolic compass that has four kinetic sculptures.

Each one represents a direction,

north, east, south and west.

And there are sensors set up on the top of each sculpture

that capture how far away you are from them.

And the data that gets collected

ends up changing the way that sculptures move

and the direction of the compass.

The thing is, the piece doesn't work like the automatic door sensor

that just opens when you walk in front of it.

See, your contribution is only a part of its collection of lived experiences.

And all of those experiences affect the way that it moves.

So when you walk in front of it,

it starts to use all of the data

that it's captured throughout its exhibition history --

or its intuition --

to mechanically respond to you based on what it's learned from others.

And what ends up happening is that as participants

we start to learn the level of detail that we need

in order to manage expectations

from both humans and machines.

We can almost see our intuition being played out on the computer,

picturing all of that data being processed in our mind's eye.

My hope is that this type of art

will help us think differently about intuition

and how to apply that to AI in the future.

So these are just a few examples of how I'm using art to feed into my work

as a designer and researcher of artificial intelligence.

And I see it as a crucial way to move innovation forward.

Because right now, there are a lot of extremes when it comes to AI.

Popular movies show it as this destructive force

while commercials are showing it as a savior

to solve some of the world's most complex problems.

But regardless of where you stand,

it's hard to deny that we're living in a world

that's becoming more and more digital by the second.

Our lives revolve around our devices, smart appliances and more.

And I don't think this will let up any time soon.

So, I'm trying to embed more humanness from the start.

And I have a hunch that bringing art into an AI research process

is a way to do just that.

Thank you.

New Earth News How Can We Move Into The New Earth Now

by Meashenu

Each week we ask a question in the Bridge To New Earth Facebook group and like to share

the question and answers we get. We will be sharing the admins answers here, but Feel

free to join the group to see answers from everyone in the group who participates

The answers may come from automatic writing, meditation, intuition, higher self, guides,

channeled, or from soul group.

Question #1: How do we collectively manifest or work on remembering HOW we can move forward

into the New Earth now, for those of us that truly feel we have put in the work and are

ready? Heather

The energetic version of the New Earth is already here. It can often be seen like

a holographic image appearing in front of some. Its growing in size as more are able

to connect with it. If your soul is ready, you will be able to energetically reach and

connect with it now. If one is not able to do so yet that simply means they have more

soul growth to do in order to be ready. This is the awakening process and more specifically

ones connection to their higher self which is ultimately their direct connection to source.

Once one has solidified their connection to their higher self, which again links them

to source directly they will effortlessly begin to receive the downloads, upgrades,

and enhancements necessary to connect with New Earth.

The collective part comes into play when more and more souls are able to connect individually.

This not only enhances New Earth itself, it also activates a magnetic pull of sorts

on all souls to begin or accelerate their own journey in order to be able to connect.

When the masses have reached New Earth energetically, this is when it will begin

to take shape in what you would consider a physical state.

Additional Side Note: Cats, like your house pets, have unlimited access to New Earth.

They were helpful in setting it up,have free reign of it, and can come and go whenever

they please.

I love you all my dear ones. -Sekhmet.

I can personally say that I have experienced this New Earth myself. I can see it when I

set my intentions to do so. I visit occasionally. Its incredible. I have work to do here

though, a large majority of which consists on helping others reach this New Earth. So

here is where I spend a majority of my time. But at least now I know what my cat has been

up to lately. Which highly explains his behavior as of late. We will all get there when its

the right time for us. Continue on your path, follow your journey, you have the universe

supporting you!

Genoveva

The New Earth is not a place but a thought. You can access this thought whenever you choose

to. The New Earth is already here. All you need to do is call on it with your heart center.

**Mentally I ask, When will it be here?**

Be patient. Much has been going on behind the scenes. We are cheering you on because

you are so close.

Thought creates word. Word creates reality.

Spread what you already know. People may not be aware of what you are saying but it will

become a part of their portion of the collective consciousness.

This will bring in the new vibration for the harvest. Those who feel ready to go will be

there. Be still. Hold the light. It is coming.

You are doing as you are meant to. Just because you dont see it, doesnt mean its

not happening.

Dont see with your eyes. See and feel with your hearts.

Dear Ones, you are about to be witness to something glorious. Something that doesnt

occur everyday.

Hold space for the New Earth in everything that you do. Envision that it is already here

and it will be so.

All for the love of the One infinite creator.

Peace to all.

Ken

The New Earth Dear Ones is a reality of joy and love within the 5d dimension. Your key

to this gate is through love and light. Not as only individuals but also as a I unity

consciousness. Your all gods and goddesses and can manifest it. To break down your termed

as matrix. Through unconditional love therefore you shall find truth and ultimate knowledge

and wisdom. Provided that your heart mind is in balance.

Meashenu

The image that came to me is a bridge to the New Earth, but theres a big gate in front

of the bridge that is locked and needs a key to unlock it. The key in this scenario for

me represents the knowledge that we havent remembered yet. I get that we have to collectively

say, we are ready for this knowledge and ready to move forward! We need to manifest (hold

the vision/intention) that we all receive this knowledge now or even that an individual

receives it so that it becomes available to the rest of us. All of this is within our

heart spaces.

Although I have had mixed feelings about the EVENT representing a big WAVE that comes

over the planet, I can also see that this big wave could possibly be what the collective

is manifesting as a way to unlock that gate and get over that bridge to the New Earth.

When thinking about this I heard in my thoughts pretty loudly YOU ARE THE KEY from one

of my guides. This is more along the lines of saying that every single one if us is the

KEY in this analogy. Higher Consciousness is there to assist, support, & guide us, but

WE are the ones that decide what happens next, what is created, and when the gate is unlocked.

We can each meditate and visualize us unlocking the gate and being in the new earth.

Foods The Oldest People In The World Swear By - Duration: 3:43.

Everyone knows that an apple a day keeps the doctor away.

But what about daily bacon?

Or hot dogs?

Sounds crazy, but it turns out that some of the oldest people in the world have diets

you would never expect.

Don't believe it?

Here's a look at some of the unusual foods the oldest people in the world swear by.

Bacon!

"Ham, ham.

Turkey, bacon.

Yes I do, yes I do have bacon."

When you live to be over 100 years old, you are officially allowed to eat whatever you

want, whenever you want.

So even though dieticians and nutritionists agree that bacon is too high in saturated

fat and nitrates to eat daily, 116-year-old Susannah Mushatt Jones bucked the trend by

eating bacon every single day.

In fact, her niece told Page Six that they had to watch it, because Mushatt Jones would

"eat bacon all day long."

"Bacon!

Bacon!

Where's the bacon?

I smell bacon!

Bacon!

Gotta be bacon, only one thing smells like bacon and that's bacon!"

Now that's living!

Hot dogs?

We all know and love the hilarious Betty White, who at 96 is basically a youngster compared

to these centenarians.

Though she hasn't yet hit 100, she believes she's got some useful tips on living a long

life.

White told Parade,

"Enjoy life.

Accentuate the positive, not the negative."

And also?

Eat hot dogs!

[Singing] "A ha hot dog is fun to eat/A ha hot dog is a great big treat!"

But Bernando Lapallo, who lived to be 114, disagreed.

"You've heard the old saying, I know you have: You are what you eat."

Lapallo swore by a diet of five foods: garlic, honey, cinnamon, chocolate, and olive oil.

He follows his father's advice — a doctor who lived to 98 — when it came to what he

won't eat - and hot dogs didn't make the cut.

Sorry, Betty.

"Dorothy, you haven't even touched your Mr. Ha-Hot Dog."

[Smash]

Porridge

When Scotswoman Jessie Gallan passed away at the age of 109, it wasn't from a lack of

porridge.

When asked about how she lived to such an extraordinary age, she said,

"I've never known any different.

All I would say is that I like my porridge.

I have all my life."

That wasn't her only tip to living a long healthy life, though.

She told The Daily Mail

"My secret to a long life has been staying away from men.

They're just more trouble than they're worth.

I also made sure that I got plenty of exercise, eat a nice warm bowl of porridge every morning

and have never gotten married."

Eggs and cookies

The debate of how many eggs is too many eggs has been raging for decades.

But 117-year-old Emma Morano settled that debate by eating three eggs every day for

almost an entire century.

According to her doctor, after being diagnosed with anemia following World War I, she began

eating

"...three eggs per day, two raw in the morning and then an omelette at noon."

She later scaled back, telling AFP,

"I eat two eggs a day, and that's it.

I eat cookies.

I don't eat much because I have no teeth."

Still, it's estimated she ate more than 100,000 eggs over the course of her life.

Whatever the heck they want

The only real identifiable theme here seems to be that these centenarians eat and drink

what they want, dietary recommendations be damned.

And why not?

They've made it this far.

That's certainly how Misao Okawa lived her life.

The 117-year-old loved beef stew, ramen noodles, and hashed beef and rice.

She told The Japan Times,

"Eating delicious things is a key to my longevity."

It sounds like Violet Brown subscribed to the same theory when it came to diet.

Shortly before she passed away at the age of 117, she told The Gleaner,

"Really and truly, when people ask what me eat and drink to live so long, I say to them

that I eat everything, except pork and chicken, and I don't drink rum."

Maybe that's the real secret to a long life — just doing, and eating, what makes you

happy.

Want to go to a good college? All you need is Motivation & Hope. Bobby Tariq Tutoring - Duration: 14:21.

- I'm feeling so excited 'cause

two years ago everyone used to be, going to NYU,

you have to be this 110 average student, this 1600 student.

All this, I didn't think a decent boy like me

could get so much money to go to

such a prestigious university.

- Well, how much money you got?

- I got $66,000 per year.

(panel clapping)

- Hi everybody. How are you?

This is Bobby again, the CEO of Bobby-Tariq Tutoring Center.

Today I'm actually with four of my very successful students.

They got accepted to NYU with big scholarships.

Let me introduce my student Sharif.

Say hi to them.

- Hi.

- Then my student Tonya.

My other student Kashfia,

and another boy. - Hey, what's up.

- Anupom so he's always trying to say

what's up and everything, all right.

So let's come back to my student, no problems

he's a very good boy.

So, how you are feeling today?

It must be really great, I like your hair.

- I'm feeling so excited, because two years ago

everyone would be, going to NYU, you must be this

110 average student, this 1600 student, all this.

I don't think a decent boy like me could get

so much money to go to such a prestigious university.

- Well how much money you got?

- I got a $66,000 per year.

(panel clapping)

- That's good, I assume the dorm was free.

- Yeah, dorming, books and all tuition is free for me.

- In NYU.

That's one of the most expensive college.

- Two years ago people said NYU barely gives any money.

- But you got the maximum on merit based scholarship, right.

- I didn't know this was possible for NYU.

- Now it was and now it is possible.

What was your SAT score?

- I've got a 1500 on my SAT,

with an 800 in the math section.

- 800 in the math section, great.

So what is your future goal?

What do you want to study at NYU?

- I'm going to be studying mechanical engineering.

As soon as I finish my bachelors, I actually

wanna start working in the work field

and see whee that takes off.

Then get my parents a house, I buy myself a car and stuff.

- Wow, some dream, some hope.

So what do you think, Anupom, is behind your success?

What was the key ingredient that really triggered you

to be such a successful person?

- The most important thing I got

from here was the motivation.

Not the math skills, not the English skills,

not the learning, tutoring, I come from Brooklyn,

I reside in Brooklyn, and this is in Queens.

I take over an hour commute to get here.

I come here twice a week, four to five hours a day.

Tell the truth after two, three years

of coming here, I believe it was not a waste.

All the volunteer hours I did, all the time

I took commuting here, was not a waste at all.

Just because of the motivation I got.

Because with a motivation, it doesn't matter

how smart you are you can always beat someone

that's on top. - So proud.

(panel clapping)

How are you feeling today because you got into

one of the most prestigious universities in the world?

- I was out of words.

My friend was with me, I remember he was like,

you got in and I was like, I have to reread the email,

like at least five times, just to see that congratulations

in the middle of the.

- Bobby-Tariq Tutoring Center any help behind your success?

- Oh definitely yeah.

Bobby-Tariq, the opportunities that Bobby opened

up for me is incredible.

Not only academically did he prepare me for school

and all this SAT, but he also prepared me

for the real life.

So, real life you're not gonna get experiences in school.

You might, but Bobby definitely,

he provides the experience you need to handle yourself

in real life situations.

So the opportunity here is incredible.

- Would you mind sharing with us how

much scholarship money you got?

- So from my whole package is actually 51k.

- $51,000. (panel clapping)

Imagine, $51,000 in one year, four years how much?

- It's about 200.

- $200,000 is technically covered, he doesn't have to pay.

That's what I'm talking about.

So there must be something you have done

when he applied to college, so would you share it with us.

- So, college application is definitely not an easy thing.

You can easily just skip a lot of steps

and not get into the college you really want to go to.

So college application is definitely very important

and Bobby helped me so much with

the college application process.

There was a lot of things that I didn't know

you had to make good connection with your teachers

to get good recommendations, all that sort of stuff.

Bobby definitely, he had my back, he definitely had my back.

- Thank you, I like you man.

So is there any, so OK, maybe let me

come back to her and then let's see

how are you feeling Tanya today?

- Obviously we're all shocked initially

that I couldn't really tell you,

but I'm really happy right now and excited to go to NYU.

- So you are going to NYU?

- Yes that's my top choice.

- That's The best decision for you, of course, perfect.

So what are you gonna study at NYU?

- Computer science.

- Computer science, wow.

Do what was your SAT score like?

- 1490. - 1490?

That's really good.

When you first started what was your score?

- Similar to him, I used to be really bad, like 1000.

- So 490 points. (panel clapping)

Wow, that's awesome Tanya.

Do you think Bobby-Tariq Tutoring Center was any help?

- Well definitely, as you can see,

it's because of Bobby-Tariq that I improved so much,

like improved so drastically.

And it's not only about SAT, but like the mentoring

that they provide, the motivation that they provide,

the college help, they're available all the time here.

Like you could just ask them any questions,

not only about SAT but college and like as he said,

they help you in the process because some people,

there's steps on the application that

if you miss, then you miss your chance of getting in.

And they practically guide you because

they're really experienced people out there.

They know what they're doing.

- Wow, great, so do you have any message

to your friends so maybe they can go to NYU also someday.

- Well definitely don't fear that oh, I'm not going

to get in, so don't just not apply.

Because I used to first think that

but they encouraged me.

They're definitely motivating me to apply

like, go ahead don't think about the money,

just go ahead and do it.

Now I'll definitely say like go follow your dreams,

definitely apply and especially find a great mentor

who could guide you like that, like lots

of people I've found here.

- Great, so let me come back to Kashfia.

So what's up, how are you Kashfa

how is it you're feeling today?

- Well, I still can't believe I got into NYU.

And especially with early decision.

Ever since December, I've been, just in shock

that I don't have to go through all the other processes

that my friends had to go through and through December

to do it. - Beautiful.

- I was just happy with the fact

that I was able to get in with one shot

and I didn't have to worry about anything else

and Bobby, you really helped me with that.

- Great, what was your SAT score?

- It was a 1420. - 1420 wow.

What will you be studying at NYU?

- I'm studying to do business.

- So she's going to be a business woman.

Thinking about making a lot of money in your free time.

That's the route guys, right, that's why

she's putting all the energy and time now

so we can make some you know good bucks in life, right.

- And help people.

- And help people, of course she's intending

to help a lot of people.

So, okay Kashfia, do you have any message

for your friends and classmates?

- Well, like all the the other friends have been saying

to a mentor, a really good mentor.

Because I remember when I started the college process,

I used to freak out about the smallest things

and then I just go to Bobby and Bobby helped so much,

even with even with the small, silliest questions,

Bobby would be like, oh no don't worry, you got this.

Just send it in, do this, do that.

Through that I was able to get,

Bobby was able to help me with my resume

to get into an internship at AOL,

Bobby was also helped, was able to help me

get my volunteer hours here and as a result

I was able to get a recommendation letter from Bobby

which really helped my college application, too.

- Wow, very good Kashfia.

So what is your future goal like?

Where do you see yourself in 10 years>

- 10 years, hopefully finish college first

and you know just keep growing and keep learning

and get where I want to go.

- Very good.

That's definitely where she wants to get.

That a great thing.

Let's come back and let me tell something

to you guys OK, whoever is listening today.

Now, OK, so here's the deal.

In life, OK, what is the most important thing

to be successful?

Is it your talent, is it your energy,

is it your money, is it your ambition?

Maybe, maybe not.

But the most, most, most important thing

is the motivation and the hope.

So you have motivation, you have hope,

guys you can do what?

Now, here's a thing you have to know for life,

it's like an act, how, it is the function.

Life is a function, a play, how it is?

It's a function of frustration.

It's a function of depression,

it's a function of failure, it's a function

of emotional rollercoaster.

Again, life is a function of off-beat,

it's a function of success, it's a function

of the crying emotion, it's a function of crying in joy.

It's a function of seeing the sunrise Monday.

So what is what am I trying to say?

Yes, you fall you have to learn how to get back up.

It's not about how hard you fight to improve your life.

It's not about how hard you punch somebody,

it's about how hard you get punched

and still be able to run, that's the most important thing.

It's not how well your brain works,

it's how well your mind works and I can bet

with anybody about that.

You put your brain into something, yes,

you may get it right you may not.

You put your mind into something you could

go wherever you want to go guys.

Want to go to a good college, possible.

Set up a goal at least if you have a goal

you know where to go, you don't have a goal

you don't even know where to go.

You're waking up in the morning going to sleep at night

waking up in the morning going to sleep at night,

constantly thinking I'll be set for life,

no it's not.

Somebody else is going getting up and going

to sleep with planning, you are going to getting up

and going to sleep without planning.

So, make a plan, make goals, do not give up.

You will fall, as I said, life is a function

of frustration, you'll be frustrated,

you'll be depressed, you'll been an emotional rollercoaster

go ups and downs.

Only thing you can't do is give up.

You cannot lose hope, you cannot lose motivation.

It's not about your talent, what can get your success

is about your motivation get to it use it.

A lot of people are talented in life,

they're brilliant, but they're lazy.

They don't have a plan.

They're not it's utilizing their intelligence

as opposed to some people, they might not

be as brilliant, they might not be as talented,

but they're constantly jumping, jumping, jumping,

running, running, running, they're falling,

running, falling, running, at some point

they see if they reach their destination.

So it is my piece of advice to you guys.

Don't lose hope, I know you might have a bad GPA

at this point, you might be very lost,

how am I gonna go to go to college,

I don't have good SAT score, I don't have a good average.

Oh, these guys they're going to NYU,

I might not be able to go to NYU because I don't know how.

That's not the point, it's OK.

Close your past door, that's the rule,

that's rule number one you have to close your past,

forget about it, start fresh today.

Take out a piece of paper, take a pen,

put some bullet points.

Where do you want to see yourself 10 years after today?

See what is your goal now?

How your action today has a connection

to 10 years after today.

Make a plan, take this plan to some good mentor,

whoever you feel comfortable with.

Some counselor already feel comfortable with.

Not just some best guy, go to a right guy,

whoever can give you hopes and motivate you emotionally.

Support me emotionally also not just like technically.

Then you take your car, press that letter,

you'll reach your goal.

Obviously, I'm not telling you it's easy,

but if you start today some point you go there.

If you don't start today, you will forget

about going there, you don't even know where you're going.

So, it's never too late, I'm telling you.

If your GPA is bad go on the SAT,

if your SAT is bad go on the GPA of something.

Seek help to improve your scores, lives.

Try to do some research.

What is the right college for you?

One misunderstanding lot of students do,

oh I want to go to that college

because people say it's good.

I want to go to Harvard, I want to go to Columbia,

I want to go to NYU.

Well, it's not about prestigious colleges,

it's about right college.

Why NYU, because you want to be,

you want you want to go to NYU because NYU

has certain things as best fit for you.

These guys are going to NYU because

they're studying engineering, NYU's one

of the best engineering program at that is best for him.

I mean, if you say I want to study history

or something else, but NYU doesn't offer that program,

why would you go there?

So you want to make sure what is the best fit for you.

So visit those colleges, visit the requirements

and see what is the best for you.

All right guys, I'm gonna come back to you again.

I'm a college consultant, education consultant,

slash SAT instructor.

WHY I'M CONCERNED ABOUT SAMSUNG HYPNOTIZING PEOPLE & ERASING THEIR MEMORY - Duration: 6:18.

WHY IM CONCERNED ABOUT SAMSUNG HYPNOTIZING PEOPLE & ERASING THEIR MEMORY

BY ALANNA KETLER

Samsungs Swedish site recently revealed a new program that offers hypnosis so that

you can erase your memories and re watch your favourite shows for the first time.

The program is called Unspoil Me and its comprised of 23 minutes of swirling patterns,

mesmerizing music and a hypnotherapist directing your thoughts and attention in order to erase

your memory.

Now, heres the kicker, this is not a joke.

This is totally real, and the implications of what this technology could really do are

concerning.

We can only hope that people will not fall for this and that maybe tv shows, are actually

just not that important?

We can only hope.

This isnt something new, despite the fact that we dont hear much about it.

The US military was using hypnosis in the Vietnam war, erasing soldiers memory and then

sending them back out to battle.

We have to ask ourselves what kind of other possible effects this could possibly have

on our brain.

Some of the terms and conditions stated on the website that must be consented to before

this session begins include the following:

Before starting the experience I guarantee that Im over 18 years old, fully mentally

healthy and not suffering from any neurological problems or epilepsy.

If not, I guarantee that I will contact a doctor before I take part of the experience.

If I suffer from abnormally low blood pressure, I will also consult with a doctor before taking

part of the experience.

I am aware that the experience (self hypnosis) could have real effects and I am prepared

to forget the whole, or parts of my favourite TV series.

I ensure my sole purpose of using Unspoil Me is for its intended purpose, and I will

therefore only think about a film clip or a tv-series which I will have the possibility

to forget.

The suggested guidelines for the hypnosis session involve putting in headphones, isolating

themselves in a tranquil place so that they can watch the whole video with no interruptions.

A suggested one nights sleep is also recommended before they attempt to watch the show that

is inevitably responsible for this whole ordeal.

What Actually Happens During This Hypnosis?

The session begins by having hypnotic patterns swirling on the screen and then having a hypnotist

come on and introduce himself.

There is a genuinely creepy vibe, and then the music starts and views are instructed

to focus on the swirling pattern.

Then the backwards count from 300 begins while the hypnotist repeats over and over again

to go into a deeper place. The hypnotist eventually instructs the viewers to walk down

a set of imaginary stairs as he proceeds to tell a story about an emperor and a mathematician.

Then, the hypnotist tells the listener to envision a linear timeline and the think about

when the said T.V. show was first watched.

They are then instructed to float to a point on the timeline before the TV how

happened in their reality in the first place.

After that step is complete the listener is told to fly back, at super speed, to the present

moment of now.

After all this the hypnotist claims that the show to be forgotten will become just a small

fuzzy image in the subjects mind and that after one full nights sleep a dream

will install this new found amnesia towards the show.

The fact that one human being can make another follow their will completely without question

is concerning.

Weve seen this type of thing, although the Samsung technology is different, the same

concept of hypnosis was and probably still used within the MK Ultra program.

Is There More To This Than Meets The Eye?

Im just going to go out on a limb here and say, yes, most likely.

A software that can literally hypnotize you and erase your memory, simply so that you

can re watch your favourite T.V. show for the first time, is, in my opinion, nuts!

First of all, who knows what is really going on during this hypnosis session, there could

be all sorts of other subliminal messages being used and you would have no idea.

Its hard to put your trust in any type of major corporation these days that attempt

to play with your consciousness.

We can hope that the majority of people out there will have enough awareness to know that

this is probably not the best idea to partake in, in my opinion, and that really, are T.V.

shows that important?

We need to find better ways to use our time, erasing our memories to watch even more T.V.

 this has gone too far!

Is this all we are? Drones and slaves who simply enter into the system without ever

questioning it?

Go to school, get a job, watch T.V., go to the bar, put your total trust in the government

and the corporations that control them, dont worry about the world.

That seems to be the message.

On the positive side, no, this is not all we are!

We are amazing beings with so much potential, way more than we are even aware of.

Something special is happening on the planet right now, human beings are starting to actually

question the human experience.

This means that we are in the process of building another one, and the catalyst for that is

the massive shift in consciousness thats happening right now.

Were waking up, and starting to see things in a different way.

We are waking up from the hypnosis weve been in.

Ask yourself, are your thoughts really yours?

Are your wants really yours?

Or have they been programmed into via mass marketing.

There are may different forms of hypnosis, but not all of us are hypnotizable!

One needs to be extremely wary about being guinea pigs for a corporate-sponsored hypnosis

session.

Much Love
