answers video last week I asked you guys I believe it was what is wrong with the
world today I'm going to just quickly go back and make sure that that is actually
correct yes I was correct and what is wrong with the world today so you guys
left your answers and I will be reading them in this video but before we do we
need a new question for next week and this question is going to be kind of a
complete opposite to last week's question so I'm going to ask you what is
good about the world today because it's not all bad there's some not-so-good
things but there's also some really great things about the world today as
well and about people and what people are doing so let me know what what
things you think are good about the world today now I know I asked you guys
to tell me one thing that's wrong with the world and of course that's a that's
a very difficult thing but I don't I didn't want us to be going and listing a
thousand different things because that that's that it kind of ruins the whole
point of the of the thing and it becomes too negative if you know what I mean
so I wanted just one single thing that you thought was the was the worst and I
had a hard time with this as well because I have two that I want to say or
that I'm trying to decide between anyway either way let's get into your answers

that people have more right to own things and other people do has destroyed
so much of the world in so many ways and I agree

lands and they found natives there and they decided to take the land from the

immigration due to war terrorism possible poverty starvation intensive

deforestation lots more things religion to the literacy racism I think you can
make an endless list yes but this is why I wanted just one thing and he does also

thing that meshes well together you know like how conversations should be and
communication should be it's all just people trying to get the point across
and that's it but no one wants to listen to anyone else the second thing I I
wanted to say is about joking joking has sort of become like an excuse to do what
you want and to say hurtful things and for freedom of speech and stuff
because people are so often making hurtful jokes to others and that kind of
thing and then it's just all I'm just joking or it's just a prank or things
like that and I find it really annoying and really sad you know and and I see
this you see this most of the time on the Internet of course my one cousin had
was very very bad for this when we were younger because he would do all he would
say such mean and hurtful things to me and then he would just be oh I'm just
joking and it angered me so like I said it's hard to come up with with just one
single thing of course but now that we've talked about what is wrong with
the world let's talk about what is good with the world so tell me one thing or
more that you think are good about the world and good about society and people

there until later on because I don't have ride and it's a bit too far to walk
and I don't care to take the bus plus there's other other facilities at the
place that I can use now I kind of I don't get to use those facilities as
often which is okay but I am at home so I can
talk with you guys more on discord I can do more stuff for four videos and things
which I haven't really been able to do I felt like I've had very little time and
I've also been very very stressed because the kind of work I have been
doing is being kind of it's it's not what what I am good at not what I am
used to not what I'm good at not what I'm passionate about and I I could say a
whole lot more but I think talking publicly about it
could not be that great of an idea or very nice and I don't want to do that
kind of thing all that really needs to be said is things kind of went badly and
because I was given work that I shouldn't actually be doing and so it it

I forgot today was Thursday and
I tagged along with my mom and sister for walking, mostly on Thursdays they have this
bike tournaments going on on the streets.
it's pretty crowded and noisy in the front where I'm gonna go there in a while now, I'll

It's 7:52 and I had to be there at 7 o'clock and i'm *almost* an hour late,
extra nervous about going there now.
Hope it's going to be okay and i don't embarrass myself doing something stupid like this.

Photoshop: How to Create Powerful, SHATTERED Text! - Duration: 9:21.
Hi.This is Marty from Blue Lightning TV.
I'm going to show you how to create powerful, shattered text.
I provided this cracked texture, as well as, two custom brush presets.
One brush set is a series of explosion textures and the other is a set of smoke brushes.
Their links are in my video's description below or project files.
If you're not sure how to install brushes, watch my tutorial showing you how.
I included its link, as well.
Before we begin, if you're not already a subscriber to Blue Lightning TV,
click the tiny button at the lower right, or the link in my video's description below.
Once you've installed the brush presets, open the cracked texture file I provided.
Click off the lock icon to unlock it and click the eyeball icon to temporarily hide the layer.
Ctrl-click or Cmd-click the New Layer icon to make a new layer below it.
We'll fill the empty layer with black, but first, if your foreground and background colors
aren't black and white respectively, press "D" on your keyboard.
Since black is your foreground color, press Alt or Option + Delete.
We're ready to add text and since we want it to be white, invert your foreground and
background colors by either pressing "x" on your keyboard or by click this icon.
Open your Horizontal Type Tool and pick a thick, heavy font.
I'm using, "FM College Team Regular".
If you'd like to use it, I provided its link, as well.
I'll make its size 250 points, but feel free to adjust this amount based on the font you
use and the amount of characters in your text.
I'll make the Anti-aliasing: Sharp and the alignment: centered.
Click on the document and type out your text.
To adjust the spacing between all the characters, highlight your entire line and press and hold
Alt or Option as you press the right or left bracket key on your keyboard.
To adjust the space between two character, click between those characters and repeat
the same keystrokes.
To raise or lower the height of a character, highlight it and press the Character / Paragraph
icon or go to Window and Character.
Drag the "Baseline Shift" icon to the left or right to lower or raise the character.
Continue to raise or lower each character to make the word look uneven and turbulent.
We can close the character panel now.
To center the word on your document, open your Move Tool and press Ctrl or Cmd + A to
select your document.
Press the "Align Horizontal Centers" icon and the "Align Vertical Centers" icon.
Then, deselect it by pressing Ctrl or Cmd + D.
We'll convert our text into a Smart Object, so we can modify it non-destructively.
To do this, click the icon at the upper, right corner of the Layers panel
and click "Convert to Smart Object".
Click the Layer Mask icon to make a layer mask next to our text.
On this layer mask, we'll use the explosion brushes that you installed at the beginning
from the link I provided.
Open your Brush Tool and Brush Picker.
If you scroll down and don't see the explosion brushes, click the gear icon an click it.
When you see this message, click OK or on earlier versions, click "Append".
Scroll down and open the Explosion brushes.
Click this one.
For its size, type in 250 pixels.
Rotate the angle of the brush to approximately one o'clock and press Enter or Return.
Brush over the top edge of each character to mask out those areas on the layer mask.
To brush over the bottom edges, rotate the brush to approximately seven o'clock
and brush over the bottom edges.
Make the cracked texture visible and active.
To make it appear just inside our text, we need to make it into a clipping mask.
To do this, press Ctrl + Alt + G on Windows or Cmd + Option + G on a Mac.
Or, go to Layer and "Create Clipping Mask".
Click the New Layer icon to make a new layer.
I'll name it, "Explosion brushes".
Make sure your colors are white and black, respectively.
Click another explosion brush.
I'll click this one.
To adjust its size, first, make sure your CapsLock key is off and press the right or
left bracket key on your keyboard.
Then, click on your document to apply the brush.
I'd like to use the same brush and rotate it.
Continue to apply a variety of explosion brushes onto your document.
Next, we'll create tiny shards exploding from the center.
To make it easier to navigate over our document.
scroll to the basic round brushes and click a small brush.
Make a new layer.
I'll name it, "Exploding shards".
Fill it with black by pressing Ctrl or Cmd + Delete.
Go to Filter, Noise and Add Noise.
Make the amount: 100%, Gaussian and Monochromatic.
Go back to Filter, Blur and Gaussian Blur.
Blur it point 3 pixels.
Press Ctrl or Cmd + L to open your Levels window.
Drag the Input shadow slider to the right and the Input Highlight slider to the left
to create a speckled background.
I'm using an input shadow level of 185 and and input highlight level of 195.
Convert it to a Smart Object and go to Filter Blur and Radial Blur.
Blur it 5 pixels, the Blur Method: Zoom and the Quality: Best.
Change the Blend Mode to Screen.
Next, we'll add a dust cloud.
Scroll to the bottom of the Layers panel, make the bottom layer active
and make a newlayer above it.
I'll name it, "Smoke cloud".
Fill it with black and open the Brush Picker.
Click the "Free Powder Photoshop Brushes 3" brush set I provided.
Again, if you don't see it, click the gear icon to open your list of brush presets and
click it to see it in the Brush panel.
Click one of the smoke / powder brushes.
For its size, type in 1100 pixels.
Go to the center of your image and click once.
Next, we'll vary its density.
Reduce its opacity to 50% and click the Layer Mask icon to make a Layer Mask next to the smoke cloud.
Go to Filter, Render and Clouds.
Next, we'll colorize our entire image.
Scroll to the top and click the top layer.
Click the Adjustment Layer icon and click, "Hue / Saturation".
Check, "Colorize".
I'll type in a Hue of 220 and keep its default saturation of 25, but feel free to experiment
with these amounts to get the hue and saturation you like.

hey welcome to in conversations with Old Man River where we dive deeper and
dissect the new album I love you sorry please forgive me thank you track by
track we start with the first track today
urban daydream and I have the pleasure to speak to my dear friend over in New
York McGowan Southworth so here we go enjoy hello. hello how you going? I'm
great how are you? very good so I'd like to introduce a dear dear
friend of mine this is McGowan Southworth. McGowan is a
great artist an amazing songwriter independent artist but also a great
collaborator because you have the ability to write your own songs but
also this amazing ability to bring whatever it needs to be brought out in
other people's songs you really help give birth, I guess you're like a doula
I should use that as a way to convince people to write with me next time that
is a midlife like kind of term by the way I wouldn't have known what a doula
was at 20 when I first met you. And joining us from New York. City so the
reason we're chatting today is because on this new album the new album called I
love you sorry please forgive me thank you it's not a conventional album it's
an album that took me about eight years to finish
it's not like I've been working on it every day for the eight years but it's a bit like a
patchwork blanket of just different projects different songs from different
eras and I think there's like three or four really dominant periods in that
album and one of them is I would call it the New York sessions the Kachinas
sessions and that's when we birthed those songs in the album so how about I
let you talk a little bit about how it all came together because you were
pretty much responsible I think I remember you know obviously we'd hung
out a bit in in Sydney and and we're jamming a bit just really I was vibing a
lot of your music and record that you've done around that time somehow you know
just cosmic Old Man River ohad and a persona I kind of made the the
connection my mind one night I think I think I was dreaming you know I was and
I woke up and I was like I had to do a a surf record I mean he kind of embodies
that in a way in such a cool way that so I felt I usually don't like I don't
usually impose so much on people but I just felt it so much in the moment I
sent I think I sent you a little message and said hey crazy idea but and you're
like sure I'm gonna come to New York do you want to
get some people together or something and I was like totally
surprised I was like ah I guess so you know because and so if you were gonna do
a successful soundtrack you'd do it in New York I mean that's the that's the
there were those two showcases I needed to play and yes you can if you hooked me up with
these amazing musicians but I guess the songs were so simple we got that out of
the way in 20minutes get three chords we got this my personal experience was me none
of us were expecting what happened yeah and it was just I mean I didn't really
know Arun Arun and Devin we're talking about are fellow
musicians and producers each one of them owns like his own studio and
operates his own studio during those days I think I can't even trace it back
when it was like about a week that I was in town it wasn't that long even know
and we had to rehearse and play a couple shows at the same time yeah so
everything happened really fast and I guess once we got the songs we rehearsed
for the shows out of the way then this magic just happened we've just
jammed so I mean we were rotating between instruments and one time you'd
play the drums and I'd play the bass Devin would then jump on the drums and
would play the bass and just yeah play you know with the toys that were around
us and these songs because the tape was running look yeah it was kind of like
everything we touched turned into a song that had like real creative counterpart
and poignancy I just was enamoured by all of it I just thought wow it's such a
rich you know basket of tunes that was just coming out of us it was really it's
really cool so how do you explain the fact that for people that hardly knew
each other really you guys were connected before we were
connected but together is like this group dynamics we didn't really have a
connection but then we sparked like what 20 pretty great songs in two days I
don't know I mean I wanted that's one of the reasons why I love collaboration is
it brings things out of you that you've never expected it takes turns that is
like unfolds and new and unexpected ways which is I think in itself beats the
creativity so as long as it's going in a in a in a way that is you know I think
you know fun and then more just sort of as like a good feedback loop more good
stuff happens you know it was like we got one it's like oh let's do another
let's see what happens here we go a little faster on you know at a faster
pace or a different key here I don't know why even drove any of this stuff I
think I kind of remember like you just jumping out with a lot of these melodies
and just being great right from the right from the go I think I think you
surprised all of us Ohad I don't know why Oh my gosh and I guess it's really hard to
remember but it was a pretty effortless birth yeah I think all this stuff was
incredibly effortless it was at the you know the inception and so we had a lot
of time together to just like workshop the lyrics between the sessions and yeah
I kind of remember you we were staying in our apartment down
the street and you were staying there and I come over to pick you up in the
morning be like all right Ohad what are we doing now you know going to the
studio or rehearsal or the show or whatever and we kind of play back those
memories right and sort of peace of heart some of that stuff and come up
with some a little more conceptual work and the lyrics and stuff like that so
yeah it's a fun memory going up sitting down and sort of strumming them down on
the acoustic guitar with you and sort of you know fleshing them out which also
had its magic I remember we didn't we like take some guitars up in the park at
one point and really remember that vividly I don't know if we did it once
or a few times but uh going out to the park in your neighborhood in Sunset Park
and there's this amazing view the city I remember like it's just pure magic and
the things that came out it immediately just painted an image in our heads and I
think it kind of it's kind of connected to that surf film soundtrack idea yeah
that's right that's right yeah I think yeah I think some of that stuff was
coming so naturally we were a little bit worried that it was cheesy right and or
that it might come off as that for me it always sounded genuine I always imagined
you know I had a big you know quite quite a lot of the inspiration for me is
you know all the great time we've had on the beach and in your neighborhoods in
Sydney and whatnot and so I was probably imagining a lot of that and you're
probably imagining your experience here in Brooklyn right you know that so maybe
maybe like but that's the irony and the beauty like there we are in a park called Sunset Park
writing about wanting to be you know like that longing to be united with the
Sun weather is not that great but we're painting this picture of a beachy ideal time
yeah that's right I think I think you point out that the weather was not
fantastic and I think either of your visits I just want the world to know
that in Brooklyn the Sun does shine is it was incredibly beautiful today it
happens that spring is coming it's okay
