Defeating Giants - Part 1 - Duration: 28:32.
ANNOUNCER: THIS PROGRAM HAS BEEN MADE POSSIBLE BY
THE FRIENDS AND PARTNERS OF JOYCE MEYER MINISTRIES.
JOYCE: AND YOU ACTUALLY HAVE MORE POWER AND MORE AUTHORITY
THAN THE ENEMY DOES.
NO MATTER HOW BIG THE GIANTS ARE IN YOUR LIFE, "GREATER IS HE
THAT IS IN YOU THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD."
[MUSIC]
JOYCE: I STARTED LAST NIGHT TALKING TO YOU ABOUT
"DEFEATING GIANTS."
HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE A GIANT CHASING YOU AROUND RIGHT NOW?
NOW, YOU KNOW, THERE'S ALL KINDS OF GIANTS.
THERE'S LITTLE GIANTS, MEDIUM-SIZED GIANTS.
THERE'S BIG GIANTS, REALLY BIG GIANTS, AND THEN THERE'S SOME OF
THOSE GIANTS THAT YOU FEEL LIKE HAS JUST TAKEN UP RESIDENCE
IN YOUR LIFE.
THEY'VE GOTTEN THEMSELVES A ROOM, DECORATED IT.
THEY'RE QUITE COMFORTABLE AND THEY'RE KINDA LETTING YOU
KNOW THEY HAVE NO INTENTION OF LEAVING.
YOU KNOW, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I FIND WHEN I'M GOING THROUGH
SOMETHING, AND YOU CAN LET ME KNOW IF YOU FEEL THE SAME WAY,
I FIND THAT ONE OF THE LIES THE DEVIL JUST KEEPS POUNDING
AT ME IS, "THIS IS NEVER GONNA GO AWAY."
YOU KNOW, SOMETIMES MENTALLY WE THINK WE CAN HANDLE SOMETHING
IF IT'S GONNA BE A WEEK, OR TWO WEEKS,
OR MAYBE EVEN A MONTH.
BUT WHEN YOU GET TO SOMETHING THAT JUST HANGS ON, AND HANGS
ON, AND HANGS ON, AND HANGS ON, AND ESPECIALLY IF IT'S SOMETHING
HURTING YOU, I THINK ONE OF THE FEARS THAT THE ENEMY
TRIES TO GET US WITH IS, "WHAT IF THIS NEVER GOES AWAY?"
ANYBODY EVER HEAR THAT?
"WHAT IF THIS LASTS FOREVER?" BUT YOU KNOW SOMETHING, THEY
ALWAYS COME TO AN END.
THERE MAY BE SOMETHING ELSE RIGHT ON ITS HEELS,
BUT IT COMES TO AN END.
AND LAST YEAR, I HAD A PARTICULARLY CHALLENGING YEAR
BECAUSE I HAD TWO SURGERIES WITHIN SEVEN MONTHS.
I HAD A HIP REPLACED, AND THEN AS SOON AS I GOT THAT OVER WITH,
I STARTED HAVING A PAIN HERE IN MY LEG, AND WE THOUGHT IT WAS
THE HIP THAT WAS STILL GIVING PROBLEMS.
TURNS OUT IT WAS SOMETHING IN MY BACK, WHICH I THINK REALLY WAS
THE PROBLEM ALL ALONG AND I PROBABLY WOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO
HAVE THE HIP REPLACED.
BUT THE POINT IS IS THAT FOR ABOUT TEN MONTHS, I HAD QUITE
A BIT OF PAIN.
AND I KEPT DOING EVERYTHING I WAS SUPPOSED TO DO.
YOU KNOW, WHEN YOU DO WHAT I'M DOING, YOU DON'T JUST NOT
SHOW UP.
YOU DON'T JUST SAY, "SORRY, I CAN'T COME."
YOU PRESS THROUGH AND YOU DO IT.
AND SO, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I REALLY HAD TO STAND AGAINST WAS
THAT LIE, "WHAT IF YOU'RE LIKE THIS FOREVER?"
AND I KEPT SAYING, "I DECLARE."
LIKE JOEL'S BOOK, "I DECLARE."
I KEPT SAYING, "THIS IS GONNA COME TO AN END.
THIS IS GONNA TURN OUT ALL RIGHT.
THIS IS GONNA COME TO AN END."
AND I WANNA ENCOURAGE YOU TO DO THE SAME THING IN YOUR LIFE.
MY OLDEST SON WAS AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE FOR ME TO RAISE.
ANYBODY GOT A KID THAT YOU LOVE BUT YOU DON'T LIKE?
[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]
JOYCE: COME ON, LET'S BE HONEST, YOU KNOW?
WE DO, WE LOVE OUR KIDS, BUT THE TRUTH IS SOMETIMES WE DON'T
ALWAYS LIKE 'EM ALL.
AND THE INTERESTING THING ABOUT THIS BOY WAS HE PROBABLY, OUT OF
ALL OF 'EM, IS THE MOST LIKE ME.
[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]
JOYCE: AND SO, A LOT OF TIMES, WE DON'T LIKE 'EM BECAUSE
WE SEE OURSELVES IN 'EM AND WE DON'T WANT TO ADMIT IT.
AND I MEAN, I THOUGHT THAT BOY WAS GONNA DRIVE ME CRAZY.
I COULDN'T HARDLY WAIT FOR HIM TO LEAVE HOME.
WHEN HE GRADUATED AND SAID HE WAS GONNA GO AWAY TO
BIBLE COLLEGE, I WAS LIKE, "YES!
GO."
[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]
JOYCE: WE HAD--THEN HE CAME TO WORK FOR US AND I THOUGHT
THAT WAS GONNA DRIVE ME NUTS.
BUT YOU KNOW WHAT?
NOW, HE'S THE CEO OF ALL OF OUR WORLD MISSIONS AND--
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: HAS DONE--YOU KNOW, THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT WATER
WELLS THIS MORNING AND WE JUST DUG OUR 1,000TH WATER WELL
AROUND THE WORLD.
AND HE'S BEEN PERSONALLY INVOLVED IN ALL OF THAT.
SO, I'M JUST TRYING TO ENCOURAGE YOU THAT WHATEVER KIND OF GIANT
YOU HAVE IN YOUR LIFE, YOU'VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES, COME ON.
YOU'VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES TO MAKE IT THROUGH, TO COME OUT
VICTORIOUS ON THE OTHER SIDE.
SO, I WANNA START THIS MORNING--ACTUALLY, I STARTED
WITH THIS LAST NIGHT BUT I WANNA DO IT AGAIN TODAY.
I WANNA GO TO WHEN DAVID FOUGHT GOLIATH AND I WANNA SHOW YOU
THE ATTITUDE THAT HE HAD.
SO, LET'S TAKE A LOOK AT 1 SAMUEL 17:42-48.
"WHEN THE PHILISTINE," THE GIANT,
"LOOKED AROUND AND SAW DAVID, HE DERIDED AND DISPARAGED
HIM BECAUSE HE WAS [JUST]
A YOUNG MAN, WITH A RUDDY COMPLEXION."
I NEED TO FIND OUT WHAT THAT IS, 'CAUSE I'M NOT SURE WHAT THAT
MEANS.
BUT, "AND HE WAS A HANDSOME GUY.
AND THE GIANT, "THE PHILISTINE SAID TO DAVID, 'AM I A DOG, THAT
YOU COME TO ME WITH A [SHEPHERD'S] STAFF?'
AND THE PHILISTINE CURSED DAVID BY HIS GODS,"
WHICH OF COURSE WAS USELESS BECAUSE HIS GODS WERE NOTHING.
THE GIANT WAS TALKING TO DAVID, BUT DAVID DIDN'T JUST STAND
THERE AND TAKE IT.
"THEN DAVID SAID TO THE PHILISTINE."
YOU KNOW WHAT?
SOMETIMES WE NEED TO TALK BACK TO THE DEVIL.
JESUS TALKED BACK TO THE DEVIL.
AND ACTUALLY, THE TITLE OF THIS MESSAGE, THIS WHOLE MESSAGE THAT
I'M NOT PREACHING THIS MORNING IS, "YOU CAN'T DEFEAT GOLIATH
WITH YOUR MOUTH SHUT."
YOU KNOW, WE GOTTA OPEN OUR MOUTH AND TALK BACK
TO THE DEVIL.
SO, "DAVID SAID TO THE PHILISTINE,
'YOU COME TO ME WITH A SWORD, A SPEAR, AND A JAVELIN,
BUT I COME TO YOU IN THE NAME OF THE LORD OF HOSTS, THE GOD OF
THE ARMIES OF ISRAEL, WHOM YOU HAVE TAUNTED."
SO, HE WAS REALLY GETTING THE POINT ACROSS TO HIM THAT, "YOU
THINK YOU'RE COMING AGAINST ME.
YOU THINK YOU'RE COMING AGAINST THE ARMIES OF ISRAEL.
BUT IN FACT, YOU'RE COMING AGAINST GOD."
AND IT'S THE SAME WAY IN YOUR LIFE.
YOUR GOD'S CHILD.
WHEN THE ENEMY COMES AGAINST YOU, HE'S REALLY COMING AGAINST
GOD AND GOD WILL NOT PUT UP WITH IT FOREVER, AMEN?
"YOU COME TO ME WITH A SWORD, A SPEAR, AND A JAVELIN,
BUT I COME TO YOU IN THE NAME OF THE LORD OF HOSTS.
THIS DAY THE LORD WILL HAND YOU OVER TO ME, AND I WILL STRIKE
YOU DOWN AND I WILL CUT OFF YOUR HEAD.
AND I WILL GIVE YOUR CORPSE--THE CORPSES OF THE ARMY OF
THE PHILISTINES THIS DAY TO THE BIRDS OF THE SKY AND THE WILD
BEASTS OF THE EARTH, SO THAT ALL THE EARTH MAY KNOW THAT THERE IS
A GOD IN ISRAEL."
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: "'AND THAT THIS ENTIRE ASSEMBLY MAY KNOW THAT THE LORD
DOES NOT SAVE WITH THE SWORD OR WITH THE SPEAR; FOR THE BATTLE
IS THE LORD'S AND HE WILL HAND YOU OVER TO ME.'
WHEN THE PHILISTINE ROSE AND CAME FORWARD
TO MEET DAVID," I LOVE THIS, THERE'S A GREAT MESSAGE IN WHAT
I'M GETTING READY TO READ, "DAVID RAN QUICKLY TOWARD
THE BATTLE LINE."
AND I SAID LAST NIGHT, A LOT OF TIMES WE THINK OUR PROBLEMS
TO DEATH.
IT'S LIKE WE STARE AT THE GIANT AND STARE AT THE GIANT,
AND THE MORE WE STARE AT HIM, THE MORE WE TALK ABOUT HIM,
THE BIGGER HE BECOMES.
AND I LOVE WHAT DAVID DID.
HE HAD SOME FAITH AND HE DIDN'T WANNA THINK ABOUT THE GIANT SO
LONG THAT THE GIANT GOT BIGGER THAN HIS FAITH, AND SO HE RAN
QUICKLY TOWARD THE BATTLE LINE.
AND MAYBE THERE'S SOMETHING THAT YOU NEED TO DO IN YOUR LIFE
AND YOU'RE THINKING ABOUT IT JUST A LITTLE BIT TOO LONG.
AND MAYBE THE THING YOU NEED TO DO IS JUST GO DO WHAT YOU
BELIEVE GOD ASKED YOU TO DO.
"WELL, WHAT IF I'M WRONG?" WELL, SOMETIMES THE ONLY WAY
YOU'RE EVER GONNA FIND OUT IF YOU'RE RIGHT IS TO TAKE A CHANCE
ON BEING WRONG.
DID YOU HEAR ME?
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: ALL RIGHT, SO I WANNA TALK TO YOU THIS MORNING FOR
JUST A LITTLE BIT, AND I'M GONNA KINDA DO THE SAME THING,
THE SECOND PART OF THIS IN THE SECOND SERVICE IF YOU
CARE TO STAY AND HEAR THAT.
I WANNA TALK TO YOU ABOUT YOUR AUTHORITY AS A BELIEVER
IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.
I'VE BEEN LISTENING TO A MAN WHO'S ACTUALLY BEEN DEAD
FOR 40 YEARS.
HIS NAME IS MARTIN LLOYD JONES.
AND IT GIVES ME ENCOURAGEMENT THAT, HOPEFULLY AND PRAYERFULLY,
A LONG TIME AFTER I'M NOT HERE ANYMORE, PEOPLE CAN STILL BE
LISTENING TO MY MESSAGES, AND MAYBE WATCHING MY PROGRAM ON TV,
AND READING SOME OF THESE BOOKS THAT I'VE WRITTEN.
BECAUSE PEOPLE GET OLD, BUT THE WORD OF GOD NEVER GETS OLD.
IT NEVER GETS OLD.
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: AND HE'S AN EVANGELICAL, JUST A REALLY
STRONG, SOLID BIBLE TEACHER.
AND HE SAID SOMETHING THAT I THOUGHT WAS REALLY INTERESTING.
I NOTICED IN HIS LIBRARY OF STUFF THAT HE HAS SO MANY
MESSAGES ON SPIRITUAL WARFARE AND DEFEATING THE DEVIL.
HE HAS GOT, I DON'T KNOW, LIKE 500 AND SOME ODD MESSAGES
JUST OUT OF EPHESIANS.
AND HE SAID SOMETHING AND I WANT YOU TO GET THIS TODAY.
HE SAID ONE OF THE BIGGEST MISTAKES--NOW, HE SAID THIS
40 YEARS AGO, SO IT'S EVEN WORSE NOW.
HE SAID ONE OF THE BIGGEST MISTAKES THAT THE EVANGELICAL
CHURCH HAS MADE IS WE DON'T TALK ENOUGH ABOUT THE DEVIL, HIS
LIES, HIS SCHEMES, HIS TRICKS.
AND WE NEED TO INFORM PEOPLE THAT THEY HAVE AN ENEMY, AND
THEY NEED TO KNOW HOW TO WATCH FOR HIM AND HOW TO COME AGAINST
HIM, AND THEY NEED TO KNOW WHO THEY ARE IN CHRIST.
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: NOW, YOU, HONESTLY, A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T LIKE TO TALK
ABOUT THE DEVIL THAT MUCH.
A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T LIKE TO REALLY HEAR MESSAGES ABOUT
THE DEVIL AND DEMONIC POWER.
AND I HEAR PEOPLE SAY SOMETIMES, AND THIS IS A GREAT THING TO
SAY, AND I GET IT, I BELIEVE IT, "I'D RATHER JUST TALK ABOUT
THE LIGHT, AND IF YOU JUST FOCUS ON THE LIGHT, THEN THE LIGHT
WILL OVERCOME THE DARKNESS."
WELL, I AGREE WITH THAT, BUT I STILL BELIEVE WE NEED
TO BE INFORMED.
WE NEED TO KNOW THAT WE HAVE AN ENEMY, THE DEVIL, SATAN,
LUCIFER.
HE'S CALLED BY MANY DIFFERENT NAMES.
HE HATES US, HE HATES GOD, AND HE IS AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO
EVERYTHING THAT HE POSSIBLY CAN DO TO KEEP YOU FROM MAKING ANY
KIND OF PROGRESS IN YOUR LIFE.
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: SO, I'M GONNA TALK TO YOU THIS MORNING ABOUT THE
DEVIL, BECAUSE I WENT TO CHURCH FOR YEARS, AND YEARS, AND YEARS
AND NEVER HEARD ONE MESSAGE ABOUT THE DEVIL.
I HEARD A LOT OF DOCTRINE, GOOD, SOUND, SOLID DOCTRINE.
I WENT TO A CHURCH THAT TAUGHT ME A LOT ABOUT SALVATION BY
GRACE, NOT BY WORKS.
BUT I THOUGHT THE DEVIL WAS JUST, LIKE, I DON'T KNOW, SOME
CHARACTER THAT CAME OUT ON HALLOWEEN IN RED PAJAMAS AND
HAD A LONG TAIL AND A PITCHFORK.
I DIDN'T REALLY UNDERSTAND THAT I HAD A PERSONAL GIANT FOLLOWING
ME AROUND ALL THE TIME, TELLING ME LIES AND TRYING TO DEFEAT ME.
SO, I THINK THAT WE NEED TO BE A LITTLE BETTER AT WHAT THE BIBLE
CALLS WATCHING AND PRAYING.
WATCHING AND PRAYING.
AND IT DOESN'T NECESSARILY MEAN WATCHING WHAT EVERYBODY ELSE IS
DOING WRONG AND PRAYING FOR THEM TO GET BETTER.
IT MEANS REALLY PAYING ATTENTION TO THE THINGS THAT ARE
HAPPENING IN YOUR LIFE, AND KNOWING THE REAL SOURCE
THAT THEY'RE COMING FROM, AND UNDERSTANDING WHO YOU ARE IN
CHRIST, AND TALKING BACK TO THE DEVIL, AND LETTING HIM KNOW THAT
HE IS NOT GOING TO RUN YOUR LIFE AND HE'S NOT GONNA WIN.
COME ON, GIVE GOD A PRAISE.
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: WHEN I HEARD MY FIRST MESSAGES 40-SOME ODD YEARS AGO
THAT AS A BELIEVER IN CHRIST I HAD AUTHORITY AND THAT I DIDN'T
HAVE TO JUST SIT BACK AND JUST PUT UP WITH WHATEVER WAS GOING
ON IN MY LIFE, IT WAS LIFE CHANGING FOR ME.
AND SO, WHAT I WANNA DO THIS MORNING IN THE TIME THAT I HAVE,
AND CONTINUING SOME INTO THE SECOND SERVICE, IS I JUST
WANNA HELP YOU GET A RENEWED, OR MAYBE FOR SOME OF YOU A NEW,
ATTITUDE ABOUT YOURSELF.
YOU'RE THE HEAD AND NOT THE TAIL, ABOVE AND NOT BENEATH.
THE BIBLE SAYS YOU CAN LEND AND NEVER HAVE TO BORROW.
HOW 'BOUT THAT?
WHO BELIEVES GOD FOR THAT ANYMORE?
WE ALL JUST ASSUME THAT WE GOTTA CHARGE IT,
AND MAKE PAYMENTS, AND JUST, YOU KNOW, LIVE FROM PAYCHECK
TO PAYCHECK.
THERE'S SO MANY PROMISES IN THE WORD OF GOD.
AND LISTEN TO WHAT I'M GONNA SAY, THEY'RE NOT JUST GOING TO
AUTOMATICALLY HAPPEN IN YOUR LIFE BECAUSE YOU RECEIVE CHRIST
AS YOUR SAVIOR AND YOU COME TO A GREAT CHURCH EVERY
SUNDAY MORNING.
WE NOT ONLY NEED TO BELIEVE THAT JESUS IS OUR LORD AND SAVIOR,
BUT WE NEED TO BELIEVE THAT WHAT HE PROMISES IN THE WORD IS NOT
JUST A SERMON, A MESSAGE.
IT'S NOT JUST FOR EVERYBODY ELSE, IT'S FOR ME.
AND I'M GONNA STAND MY GROUND AND BELIEVE GOD THAT I'M GONNA
HAVE IT IN MY LIFETIME AND THE ENEMY IS NOT GONNA PUSH ME
AROUND AND END UP THE WINNER.
SOMETIMES WHEN YOU'RE GOING THROUGH A LOT OF PROBLEMS,
AT LEAST I FIND THIS HAPPENS TO ME, AND I'VE BEEN DOING THIS
A LONG TIME AND PREACH THIS STUFF ALL THE TIME.
SOMETIMES I FIND IF THE PROBLEMS ARE LONG-STANDING AND ONE RIGHT
AFTER THE OTHER, I CAN BEGIN TO JUST FEEL LIKE, [SIGHING],
A LITTLE WEAK, A LITTLE WIMPY.
I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN DO THIS ANYMORE.
YOU KNOW, I DON'T KNOW.
BOY, I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT ON TIMES LIKE THAT, I COULD USE
SOMEBODY LIKE ME TO PREACH ME THE MESSAGE THAT I'M GONNA TRY
TO PREACH YOU TODAY.
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: I LIKE WHAT THE PASTOR SAID THIS MORNING ABOUT GETTING
YOUR LIFE ALIGNED.
WE ALL HIT POTHOLES IN LIFE, AND SOMETIMES THEY THROW OUR FAITH
AND OUR LIFE OUT OF ALIGNMENT AND WE GET A LITTLE BIT LOST OUT
THERE SOMEWHERE.
AND A LOT OF BEING IN CHURCH ON A REGULAR BASIS OR LISTENING TO
THE WORD IS IT'S NOT ALWAYS ABOUT LEARNING SOMETHING
BRAND NEW THAT YOU'VE NEVER HEARD BEFORE.
EVERY TIME YOU COME TO CHURCH, IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE LIKE A...
[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]
JOYCE: MY GOSH, THAT WAS THE MOST AWESOME THING I HAVE
EVER HEARD IN MY LIFE.
IT'S GOOD TO GET THAT, BUT A LOT OF TIMES WE JUST NEED TO HEAR IT
AGAIN BECAUSE WE FORGOT IT.
WE GOT LOST SOMEWHERE.
WE JUST NEED TO HEAR IT AGAIN.
AND I KNOW FOR ME AS A MINISTER, SOMETIMES WHEN I'M PREACHING
THINGS THAT I'VE PREACHED 1,000 TIMES AND PROBABLY TO
PEOPLE THAT HAVE HEARD IT OVER AND OVER,
I HAVE TO REMEMBER THAT WE NEED TO HEAR IT AGAIN,
AND AGAIN, AND AGAIN, AND AGAIN.
SO, IF I TELL YOU TO OPEN TO A SCRIPTURE THIS MORNING,
AND YOU OPEN IT UP, AND WOW, YOU'VE GOT IT UNDERLINED,
THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU REALLY KNOW IT OR THAT
YOU'RE LIVING IT.
YOU KNOW, WE LOVE TO COLOR IN OUR BIBLES AND WE REALLY HOPE
THAT THE PERSON SITTING NEXT TO US SEES HOW MUCH OF OUR BIBLE IS
COLORED IN IN YELLOW.
I MEAN, I GOT PINK IN HERE.
I'VE GOT ORANGE.
AND YOU KNOW, I FEEL--WHEN I GET TO THOSE SECTIONS, IT'S LIKE,
"WHOA."
SOME OF THAT'S LIKE, "WHOA, THAT IS, MAN, WHOO HOO."
BUT YOU KNOW WHAT?
WE DON'T KNOW ANY OF IT UNTIL WE'RE DOING IT AND IT'S WORKING
IN OUR LIVES.
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: MATTHEW 10, "JESUS CALLED THE TWELVE DISCIPLES AND
GAVE THEM AUTHORITY AND POWER."
YOU HAVE AUTHORITY AND YOU HAVE POWER.
I WANT YOU TO GO OUT OF HERE TODAY JUST FEELING KINDA STRONG.
MAYBE YOU WALKED IN WITH YOUR HEAD HANGING DOWN A LITTLE BIT
AND JUST FEELING LIKE THE TAIL END OF EVERYTHING, BUT YOU MAY
GO OUT WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS YOU CAME IN WITH, BUT I WANT YOU
TO FEEL DIFFERENT ABOUT YOURSELF.
I WANT YOU TO KNOW, "I CAN DO THIS."
IT MAY NOT BE FUN, I MAY NOT LIKE IT, BUT GOD IS NOT GONNA
ABANDON ME.
I DON'T KNOW HOW LONG IT'S GONNA TAKE, BUT ACCORDING TO THE WORD
I'VE ALREADY GOT THE VICTORY.
ALL I'M DOING RIGHT NOW IS JUST WALKING IT OUT.
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: LUKE 10:19, LOVE THIS SCRIPTURE, "LISTEN CAREFULLY: I
HAVE GIVEN YOU AUTHORITY," AND I LOVE WHAT THE AMPLIFIED BIBLE
SAYS, "[THAT YOU NOW POSSESS.]"
COME ON, YOU GOT IT RIGHT NOW.
"WELL, I DON'T FEEL VERY POWERFUL."
WELL, YOU GOT IT RIGHT NOW.
AND IF THE DEVIL KNOWS THAT YOU KNOW THAT YOU'VE GOT IT, IF
THE DEVIL KNOWS THAT YOU KNOW THAT YOU'VE GOT IT, COME ON.
IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT WE HAVE IF WE DON'T KNOW WE HAVE IT.
SO, YOU HAVE POWER, YOU HAVE AUTHORITY, AND YOU ACTUALLY HAVE
MORE POWER AND MORE AUTHORITY THAN THE ENEMY DOES.
NO MATTER HOW BIG THE GIANTS ARE IN YOUR LIFE, "GREATER IS HE
THAT IS IN YOU THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD."
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: COME ON, YOU CANNOT STAND AROUND AND THINK
200 TIMES A DAY, "I CAN'T DO THIS.
I JUST CAN'T DO THIS.
GOD, I GOTTA HAVE A BREAKTHROUGH TODAY.
I JUST CAN'T DO THIS."
DON'T LET YOURSELF THINK LIKE THAT.
OPEN YOUR MOUTH AND SAY, "I CAN DO THIS.
GOD WILL NOT LET IT GO ON LONGER THAN WHAT I CAN BEAR.
I CAN DO THIS."
TALK TO YOURSELF AND TALK BACK TO THE DEVIL.
COME ON, YOU TALK TO YOURSELF ALL THE TIME ANYWAY, YOU MIGHT
AS WELL SAY SOMETHING THAT MAKES SENSE.
YOU MIGHT AS WELL SAY SOMETHING THAT'S GONNA--AM I MAKING SENSE
TO ANYBODY TODAY?
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: YOU KNOW, CHURCH IS SO GREAT.
I MEAN, I THOUGHT THIS MORNING DURING THE WORSHIP, MAN, I COULD
JUST STAY HERE AND JUST--BUT YOU KNOW WHAT?
YOU GOTTA GO HOME.
[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]
JOYCE: WE GET IN HERE AND WE FORGET ABOUT ALL THAT FOR
A LITTLE BIT, BUT I DON'T HAVE A MESSAGE THIS MORNING TO MAKE
ALL YOUR PROBLEMS DISAPPEAR.
I'M SORRY, BUT I DON'T.
I DON'T HAVE A MESSAGE TO MAKE ALL OF MY PROBLEMS DISAPPEAR.
BUT I DO HAVE A MESSAGE THAT'S PREACHED SEVERAL TIMES IN
SEVERAL WAYS IN THE BIBLE THAT SAYS GOD WILL NOT ALLOW MORE TO
COME ON ME THAN WHAT I CAN BEAR, BUT HE WILL ALWAYS PROVIDE
A WAY OUT.
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: AND YOU KNOW, SEE IF I CAN FIND THIS REAL QUICK.
MAN, I GOT THIS THING UNDERLINED AND I'VE BEEN--WHOO.
YOU KNOW, I'M GETTING A LITTLE OLDER, AND I ACTUALLY HIDE IT
PRETTY WELL, BUT YEAH.
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: AND SO, SOMETIMES, YOU KNOW, WHEN I'M GOING THROUGH A
LOT OF STUFF, ESPECIALLY IF IT'S PHYSICAL, YOU KNOW, I'LL START
TO THINK OR THE DEVIL WILL BE TELLING ME, "WELL, YOU KNOW,
YOU'RE JUST GETTING OLD AND YOU'VE DONE THIS A LONG TIME,"
AND YOU KNOW, "WELL, YOU'RE JUST GETTING OLD, AND OLD."
[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]
JOYCE: "I MEAN, YOU'VE HAD SIX SURGERIES.
COME ON, MAYBE YOU JUST NEED TO TAKE A REST."
WELL, LISTEN, LISTEN TO THIS.
THIS IS ISAIAH 46, VERSE 4, 3, SOMEWHERE THERE.
"YOU HAVE BEEN CARRIED BY ME FROM YOUR BIRTH AND HAVE BEEN
CARRIED [IN MY ARMS] FROM THE WOMB, EVEN INTO YOUR OLD AGE
I AM HE, AND EVEN INTO YOUR ADVANCED OLD AGE I WILL
CARRY YOU!
I HAVE MADE YOU, AND I WILL CARRY YOU; BE ASSURED I WILL
CARRY YOU AND I WILL SAVE YOU."
SEE, YOU GOTTA BE CAREFUL ABOUT GETTING THIS, "I'M TOO YOUNG.
I'M TOO OLD.
IT'S TOO MUCH.
IT'S TOO HARD."
YOU CAN DO AND I CAN DO WHATEVER GOD GIVES ME TO DO BECAUSE HE IS
WITH US, GIVING US THE ABILITY TO DO IT.
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: IT'S EASY TO GET ALL EXCITED WHEN EVERYTHING IN YOUR
LIFE IS GOING GREAT, BUT WE ALL KNOW THAT EVERYTHING DOESN'T GO
GREAT ALL THE TIME.
NOW, WE HAVE AUTHORITY, BUT WE NEED TO EXERCISE IT.
AND I DON'T THINK THAT HAVING AUTHORITY OVER THE DEVIL MEANS
THAT WE JUST GO AROUND SCREAMING AT THE DEVIL ALL THE TIME.
"I REBUKE YOU!
I RESIST YOU!" YOU KNOW, WHEN I CAME INTO THE
SPIRIT-FILLED MOVE OF GOD BACK IN THE '70S, THERE WAS A LOT
OF TEACHING ABOUT SPIRITUAL WARFARE.
AND MAN, WE WERE TAUGHT HOW TO DEAL WITH THE DEVIL, AND I GOT
REALLY GOOD AT, "I REBUKE YOU!
I RESIST YOU!
RAAR, RAAR!" AND YOU KNOW WHAT?
I REBUKED UNTIL MY REBUKER WAS WORN OUT AND I STILL HAVE SOME
OF THE SAME PROBLEMS IN MY LIFE.
[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]
JOYCE: NOW, I WANT YOU TO LISTEN TO WHAT I'M GONNA TELL
YOU, 'CAUSE YOU'RE NOT GONNA LIKE IT BUT IT'S TRUE ANYWAY.
RESISTING THE DEVIL, REBUKING THE DEVIL, TAKING AUTHORITY OVER
THE DEVIL DOES NOT ALWAYS MEAN THAT YOU HAVE SOME POWERFUL WAY
FROM GOD TO GET YOUR PROBLEM TO GO AWAY.
SEE, I KNEW YOU WOULDN'T LIKE IT.
[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]
JOYCE: 'CAUSE SEE, MOST OF THE TIME, WE'RE NOT REALLY
RESISTING THE DEVIL, WE'RE RESISTING THE PROBLEM.
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: THAT'S ALL RIGHT, I DON'T MIND IF WE JUST TAKE
A LITTLE WHILE.
[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]
JOYCE: "WELL, I'M A CHILD OF GOD, AND BLESS GOD, I AM NOT
GONNA PUT UP WITH THIS!"
[AUDIENCE LAUGHING]
JOYCE: GOD PUT THIS IN MY HEART ONE TIME SEVERAL YEARS AGO
AND I'M GONNA OFFER IT TO YOU.
YOU CAN HAVE IT IF YOU WANT IT.
IF NOT, I GUESS YOU DON'T HAVE TO TAKE IT.
BUT THIS IS WHAT HE PUT IN MY HEART.
RESISTING THE DEVIL DOESN'T MEAN THAT YOU GET RID OF EVERY
PROBLEM YOU'VE GOT.
IT MEANS THAT YOU RESIST ACTING LIKE THE DEVIL WHILE YOU'VE GOT
THE PROBLEM.
[AUDIENCE APPLAUDING]
JOYCE: NOW REMEMBER, NO MATTER HOW BIG THE GIANTS ARE
IN YOUR LIFE, YOU HAVE POWER AND AUTHORITY IN CHRIST TO MAKE IT
THROUGH AND COME OUT VICTORIOUS ON THE OTHER SIDE.
WE ALWAYS OFFER YOU THE WORD OF GOD IN VARIOUS FORMS OF
RESOURCES, AND TODAY WE'RE OFFERING YOU RESOURCES THAT WILL
HELP YOU, AND STRENGTHEN YOU, AND EQUIP YOU TO FACE YOUR
GIANTS.

I think one challenge was simply that this was a new project
and not a continuation where you can build on what you already have.
One major challenge is the fact that we are talking about a highly networked vehicle,
which means that there are a lot of different functions and systems that need to work together.
Someone who used to install pipes now suddenly needs to install cables.
This is a completely different qualification, and also a different way of approaching the work.
The main challenge is the highly dynamic market conditions
as well as the new competitors entering the market.
We shouldn't be talking about the past.
We still have great and significant challenges ahead of us.
We go into series production in seven months.
There is of course a lot to be done between now and then.
Highlights & surprises
One highlight of the bus for me is the sophisticated thermo-management system
that is 40% more energy-efficient than our conventional Citaros.
The first time we drove with the first concept vehicle.
The first time we drove under electric power alone and practically silently circling the hall
with the entire team was without a doubt an uplifting moment.
I will above all never forget the driving event on the Hockenheimring,
where everyone was allowed to drive the eCitaro on a closed course for a little while.
A prototype vehicle is a work in progress and that came as a surprise to me.
So many cables and so many work tables and laptops and notes and everything you can think of.
Like a big workshop or office on wheels, and that took me by surprise.
Every day at work is different.
That was the exciting thing about the project.
There is no such thing as a typical day –
here you come in and there is a plan –
and you work through it.
That's not how it works and that's what makes the project so exciting.
My personal highlight was the winter testing:
when we put it through its paces on a snowy surface
to see if it can also handle the very difficult situations.
And we came out of it really well.
The first time driving simply makes you smile.
Because you also notice for the first time how different it is to drive compared to a diesel bus.
I think we were all just happy and relieved at the same time
that we had achieved the first big step of getting a vehicle moving.
Team work
What I appreciate most about the EDB team is this collaboration
and this willingness to work toward a goal together.
This is a team that truly understands how to deal with the challenges.
I appreciate the team, which is young, dynamic and highly motivated.
I certainly appreciate the spirit of the EDB team,
because you definitely notice a drive throughout the entire team for the product to be a success.
The first time we drove we did so with the entire project team,
and then of course it is fantastic when the vehicle starts moving
and the first cries of celebration come.
It's emotional, and you feel the burden falling from your shoulders.
Quiet, definitely.
Smart.
It's fast.
Excitement.
Zero emissions.
Reliable.
Unbelievably complex.
Challenge.
Comfortable.
And looks great.
I am happy that things are finally kicking off.

TRANSFORMACIÓN DIGITAL en RETAIL - Duration: 8:20.
hello friends club entrepreneurs
today one interview a little more
Informal us here from the beach
play in Spain but this I always
I say not what 's important here in this world
the 21st century we saw is that no
impediments to doing what you
you want to do to qualify for
knowledge generated in this case to
for interviews and them if they
It shows you where located the computer and
Hence the camera to be able to have this
space to converse with one going to
have good and as I looked good
John Merolla got here on the other side
of on the other side of the world not because
It is in Spain connected lost
Conference and John will come to
congress to congress and expos and retail
They are leaving in the next 31 guayaquil
We may and wanted to talk to him about
these issues so interesting in
Disruption of the world of technology in
The world of retail is welcome juan
this interview a little improvised but
sure it will be of much value
william age and a pleasure to
green
excellent juan this the
transformación digital y como es una
este concepto es algo imprescindible
para el mundo retail en dinero como
retail toda aquella tienda tradicional
consumidor de hoy no es on line west of
problema
permite hacer mucha bulla publicitaria

Ho incontrato Alessio - Duration: 9:21.
hello guys are seven and ten of the morning
now I move south-west in province of Vicenza,
I'm going to meet a great Maker, Alessio of Worker Corner.
We will do a little project together, there let's see later in his Corner ...
Pedro should arrive,
Hi Alessio, did you call me? Here I am! You're like the genius of the lamp
Yes, I appear out of nowhere and I go even earlier ... You have to help me, I had brought a gag a little ....
The lath is a bit of what it is ... It seemed bigger in photography ...
my mom, we'll use this next time, when I have a real lathe ...
When you come up to me I'll let you play with this ...
In here I have those a little younger, use these or otherwise we use those small ...
so Pedro, what do you say, we can do something, I had in mind trying to make pens
because you in your channel I have since you really make pens
really beautiful ... We can can try to do let's see what comes out ...
But first I'll do you some school guide to teach you how to use a bit
the gouges, even though I did not do any school, I'm self-taught.
I called you because .. what I know, if I can help, very willing. Meanwhile, guys
go and see Pedro's channel, why he is very good at work
wood in the traditional way also with carvings and things a little more from
artists say and then work with lathe and does some really nice things
with the lathe! So I recommend you go (you make me red) go and give
check the channel sign up guys come on ... Even to his iscivetevi
I know you look at it but you are not registered !!! However let's say then this is a torniettino
that sent me, as I said before Gearbest and see if he can do it
something, I was curious, I never have I worked on the lathe so I was
lucky to have a friend who can do the things
So, in the meantime, let's see what happens to do, then we see the final results
Here we go!!!
here is Alessio, who tests
you can see great skill
and that the student exceeds the teacher
What a cool sight to see
Then I willingly come to see you too
This is the heart of the pen
usually you get up to the, then yes try with this one that must be screwed
so
and yes, try to see what comes out, then so all right, that's okay
so you can mount everything, the ring divider
this here goes under pressure
you can decide whether to have it beautiful when it's close
so much in the open you have it in your hand ...
support it like that.
So you guys saw? We have it done, we managed to make two feathers
which, in my opinion, are really beautiful, I'm really happy, because I do not
I thought that with a little object like that you could do ...
to do such a nice job now obviously one will take it from me and the other
I will give it to my partner, since he says that he is not gift but nothing. Pedro, what do you think?
this lanyard at the end? Mah .. it's nice nice, he needs some
very small change just because for use, already these here, which are the most
small that I have, say the poggiapezzo is a bit high and ... He has some small changes but goes
Did you expect it? I was quite satisfied
Here are the pens, I'll show you a little better, then, these Pedro that woods are? Tuya the dark one,
laburnum that clear and then inside There are just maple walnut veneers
I think, it seems to me that I am 2. and this here I really like it
It's pink ivory, it's an African wood, it was a very precious wood, which was used
only by the kings of some tribes. And this here it is a small one
let's say my school first first year turning school
ok guys we arrived at the end of video, pens made, Pedro, I thank you
for coming ... quiet
first of all, meet you as a person, me he did a lot of pleasure then it's nice
between Makers give a hand and then we are even peers
so I, like I did the other time with Uncle Bear, as I do with Andrea
it has been added, among my friends, beyond that virtual, real the great Pedro.
remember to go and see his channel ... Sign up that I have to get a thousand !!!
Do it by! Pedro and I greet you, I go back to Belluno hi, I'm going to eat ... And me
I recommend you be good! I'll see you Monday from the hovel in the mountains

Economic Update: Historic Lessons - Duration: 29:15.
Welcome friends to another edition of Economic Update weekly program devoted
to the economic dimensions of our lives jobs debts incomes our own or children's
what's coming down the road which is scary these days
I'm your host Richard Wolff I've been a professor of economics all my adult life
and I hope that that has well prepared me to offer you these economic updates
for July 2018 well we begin with the Nissan Motor
Corporation from Japan the news broke on the morning of July 9th that Nissan also
like so many other nearly all the major oil auto companies admitted to cheating
on its pollution emissions controls it made faulty tests of emissions and it
made incorrect faulty measurements of those tests well we've seen it from VW
that's where the scandal broke originally but American car companies
French car companies and now the Japanese car companies they all did it
why am I telling you this it's because the problem was never this or that
country Germany wasn't the problem and America wasn't the problem and Japan
isn't the problem the problem is capitalism that's why all the major auto
companies have been caught doing what putting profits ahead of our health
saying it's more important to make money and thereby the hustle a car that is
dangerous than to protect the public from emphysema lung cancer and all the
consequences of the pollution we live with these days the problem is the
capitalist system that puts priority on profits was always true and it's
important now with Nissan's admissions to see that's wherever capitalism runs
the auto business we have this kind of problem I want to
turn next to in a sense another problem of capitalism a bit more subtle my
attention was caught by the Pew Charitable Trusts a Pew Research Center
which is one of the premier polling institutions in the United
States and they recently did a poll asking Americans particularly young
people what they think about the decline of labor unions over recent decades just
to remind everyone back in the 1950s roughly one third of American working
people were either members of or represented by a labor union today that
percentage is below 10% a catastrophic decline almost in a straight line for
more than half a century and here's the interesting result that Americans gave
to the Pew Research Center they think it did more harm than good to the American
Society which is the question they were asked why do I bring this to your
attention because we had a decline for over half a century of something that a
clear majority of Americans think was not a good thing so it didn't happen the
decline of labor because the American people didn't want labor unions as the
right-wing asserts on the contrary Americans wanted labor unions Americans
then and now believe they did more benefit to our society than armed which
is more than you can say from any other institutions unions were victims of a
concerted effort by business and the government it controls to weaken working
people's ability to get a decent job to get a secure job and let's not lose
sight of one big fact where did the business community get the money to run
these campaigns and to persuade and lobby the politicians the working people
produced the profits with their labor that were used by their employers to
undercut those workers ability to get properly paid for what they did there's
more than a little irony in that reality another example of where people want one
thing but where the capitalist system gives them something else had to do with
statistics out about what corporations did with that enormous tax cut they got
last December well it turns out and this is from NBC News it turns out that the
bulk of the money saved by the big companies who got a cut in their profits
tax from thirty five percent to twenty one percent that's our big cut the bulk
of that did not go to hire more workers and did not go to raise wages neither of
which have happened in proportion to the tax cut they got here's what they did do
they bought back shares of stock that's right a company can use the money it no
longer gives Uncle Sam in taxes to go into the stock market and buy its own
shares back from the private companies and the private individuals who own
those shares and you know what this does it drives up the value of shares and why
would the executives of these companies do that because it turns out for many of
them their pay package depends on how well the shares do in the market so
they're taking the money they don't give to Uncle Sam which therefore can provide
us with public services and they're using that money to boost the values of
the shares so they take home more money you live in
a system that makes that attractive and that makes it possible and guess what
the result of businesses being able to use the tax savings to boost their share
prices is to make the rich richer and the rest of us not so much 1% of
shareholders own 65 or more percent of all shares so when the price of shares
goes up it's really good news for the 1% not
for the rest of us inequality gets worse and why am I telling you this because
poll after poll not just by the Pew folks but by everybody Gallup and
everybody else says Americans would prefer less inequality than what we have
now that tax cut which was sold to the American people or something we all want
produced the very greater inequality that every poll shows Americans don't
want we didn't want labor unions to disappear and we didn't want inequality
to grow worse and we have a government and a business community that gave us
both of those things we don't want and now let's talk about a really big event
that we also don't want a trade war we're already in one it kind of started
on the 6th of July when the Trump tariffs went into effect against China
we already had some increase in tariffs before that and the Chinese immediately
retaliated which the Europeans are doing the Canadians are doing the Mexicans are
doing and so on let me talk to you about what a trade war is so we all understand
what is being done to us first every country for as long as we have
historical records manipulates its foreign trade it tries to get advantages
for its own people at the expense of other companies other individuals in
other countries the United States has not been greater or lesser in doing this
than anybody else I'm going to just give you a few examples are we a country that
allows others to send their stuff over here without putting a tax which we call
a tariff on them the answer is no we have been doing that all along the
entire history of the United States is the up and down of these tariffs do we
have them today you bet I've given you some examples in the past I'm gonna give
you one right now just to give you an idea
light trucks a kind of vehicle that Americans really want to have in the
countryside on the farm but also in the suburbs and indeed everywhere light
trucks carry a twenty five percent tariffs applied by the United States
government ready for the last 50 years that's why light trucks are made here
because foreigners can't bring him in here we don't let them since we slap
them with a tax that raises their price which is why they are produced here is
the United States the only one who does this of course not
Europeans do it in the Japanese do it and you name it they do it likewise we
put quotas in the 1970s we told the Japanese automobile companies you can't
bring more than a certain number of cars here no matter what the price is that
was something we did countries do that typically in the history of capitalism
there are periods when they bring down the tariffs because they think free
trade opening trade is profitable the more profitable way to go those usually
are interspersed with periods when they go the other way
that's called protectionism Rises then they put high tasks these things come
and go when you've exhausted the money-making possibilities of a period
of free trade you shift the protection and vice versa all that mr. Trump is
doing is reacting to what to a period of relative free trade from roughly the
1970s to roughly four or five years ago it was a period when tariffs came down
and taxes came down because American corporations wanted the whole world as
their oyster to sell wherever they could to buy wherever they could so we would
get cheap clothing from abroad and fuel that we needed and so on in the course
of that free trade as we all know companies made a fortune we've had the
biggest rise in the stock market in American history profits were made which
is why that was done but in the course of that process
companies lost out and large numbers of American working people lost their jobs
as companies moved abroad and so guess what what happened is what has always
happened the victims of free trade began to be bitter and angry and to look for a
change to what to what capitalism always changes to when the upset around one
phase leads you to shift to the other one and mr. Trump is now trying to build
his political career on being the champion of a shift to protection will
the companies that invested in free trade let him that's what the next few
months and years will show us will it go back to protection maybe but here's
something that's so important for everyone to understand this is a fight
between one set of companies that sees more profit in a free trade arrangement
versus another set of companies that sees more profit in a protectionist
arrangement they're fighting it out each side hopes that the government will go
their way the protection type companies want higher tariffs like the steel and
all aluminum companies got the companies that don't want that like the car
companies that just build enormous plants in China and India which they
want to sell those cars back here in the United States they don't want it they're
fighting each side will come to the mass of the American people and say you
should support us cuz it's in your interest this has been going on back and
forth for centuries it's time we stop being fooled this has nothing to do with
working people working people are going to be badly affected by the automation
that happens whichever way it goes by the profit growing strategies whichever
way they go believe me if we don't have cheap workers abroad that American
companies can hire or low paid workers bringing them in as immigrants if that's
blocked if American companies have to pay high American wages you know what
that means it means the incentive to replace those
workers with machines will be greater than ever and you're gonna see a spurt
of computerization and robots and artificial intelligence in this country
the likes of which we can't even imagine capitalism is based on saving money off
of working people it always was and whether you're protectionist or free
trade makes very little difference well folks we've come to the end of the first
half of this program before introducing you to my guests and I think you will be
really interested I want to remind you please to subscribe to our YouTube
channel it's very important and to follow us on Facebook Twitter and
Instagram and also to make use of our website democracy at work dot info where
you can get much more information and get involved I want to particularly
thank you those of you in the patreon community that support us and also to
remind you that if you're interested in participating in our local groups or
even in starting one go to action dot democracy at work dot info and there you
will find a way to participate with us locally we'll be right back
welcome back friends to the second half of economic update it is my pleasure and
a service I think I can provide to all of you to have with me today Elizabeth
Marciano she's an elementary school teacher from Kanawha County in West
Virginia and she's here at our request because we were all taken with the
extraordinary achievement of the public school teachers in West Virginia earlier
this year who
the schools in every county of the state to protest the damage that had been done
and was contemplated to be increased to the public schools that educate the
children of that state in actions strikes included that would have made
any labor union proud those teachers were able to achieve wage increases to
prevent horrific legislation from going through and to change the whole way
public employees and teachers are viewed understood and understand themselves so
it's with great pleasure that I welcome one of those teachers to the microphone
thanks very much Elizabeth for joining us thank you very much okay here's the
question you did achieve a great deal how was it done tell us if you can how
the teachers were able to do this especially when unions are not very
strong or haven't been in the state of West Virginia for a long time they
aren't in much of the rest of the country less so than at any time in 50
years how do you account for what was able to be achieved by you and your
fellow teachers in West Virginia I think the first thing that we have to do if if
we're going to go about this whole thing is we have to eliminate the assumption
that this is a teachers strike what happened in West Virginia is not solely
a teacher's strike but it's sort of irresponsible I guess from from our side
of it if you're within the state of course if you're you know outside you
may not you know understand as much the media showed us a lot of red shirts and
blue shirts and purple shirts and those things were by design it was not
coincidence this was a collaboration that went across party lines and across
job lines so it's teachers service personnel public employees you might
have saw more of teachers because there are some folks and corrections officers
for example who simply cannot walk off the job and
it's not to say that that's what we wanted to do but the implications of
those actions are a bit different I think we could say right right so you
you have this that happens and then the the other the other thing to consider is
that something really really important happened and it all seems sort of silly
unions used to be a force to be reckoned with
right it was huge now they're more decorative in fashion right and you sort
of had this idea that oh it says bill that I'm gonna pay you so that way you
know make sure everything's good and what people forget is that if you want
to talk to a union boss and you're a union member you get up and you go look
in a mirror because if you're in a union you are the UN Union and when you are in
a climate that is that that is often stagnant and then turns into something
that can be really devastating toward the state and you just see this blatant
abuse on the children in the state through the mistreatment of its
employees at that point people start to wake up and they start saying okay we
have to do something and we start reaching out to our unions but people
before they start talking to strangers they talk to each other and in West
Virginia you're just sore I mean you're a lot of times it can be very isolating
and the people that you have to talk to are the people at work you start there
and you start talking to other people and you say what are we gonna do what
can we do what are the ramifications of some of the actions that we might take
you know what can happen just so that way we know exactly what it is that that
we stand to lose tell us a little bit about the relationship between the
teachers and the parents of the children the larger community how did the how did
that work to make possible the victories you achieved we love our kids listen
that cannot be overstated there is I I mean if if you're a teacher
that is worth your salt you love your kids and it's not just love you have a
passion for what you do and you're dedicated to
what you do and with the wages that we get paid you better be dedicated I mean
we we often miss a lot of time with our family just to be with these kids and
that's evident in your practice so so so we're not having pedagogy here we're
just talking about how you roll into work how you connect with the students
how you followup with parents a lot of our students are so far below the
poverty line that you you cannot teach just content you cannot teach to an
elbow or an earlobe you have to teach the whole student so you need to see to
all of their needs so that means that even though my job might be reading
writing and science and those sorts of things at the same time I need to figure
out a way to make sure that my kids have food that they have access to books
because at home if you can't afford to pay the light bill you can't afford to
go out and buy developmentally appropriate content and books and things
that are interesting and they're gonna sort of get rid of this whole
achievement gap thing that people like to talk about so just in that and sort
of things that we do in the way that we connect with our kids and follow up with
our families you just sort of become like just just a cohesive unit you can't
not it's really inevitable and I mean we have students who are our kids are
talented they're performers they sing they dance and we and you got to go you
got to go and see them I mean you have to encourage those those sorts of things
so let me push you a little bit there's been a lot of effort in our society to
turn the public served by public employees against those employees to
feel as though there are too many of them are they get too well paid or their
pensions are too generous how did you in West Virginia
build the kind of solidarity with the public you serve through the children to
overcome all of that can you give us some sense of how you built a different
relationship or was it simply the the love that you felt for their children
that somehow communicated itself to the parents
as a public employee okay as a public servant the nature of what we do and the
nature of who we are is service-oriented you know when I wake up every day it's
not that I'm just thinking about what lesson plan I'm gonna ride or how I'm
gonna go clip coupons or whatever it is that I'm gonna do I'm thinking about in
every way that I can what can I do to make things better whether it's a small
thing or I mean because you know we don't wake up with grandiose visions and
and I think just in that nature and and and the kind of folks that you meet in
West Virginia because I will tell you I have been a few places and you will not
no matter where you go you will not meet another person like a mountaineer they
are they are one-of-a-kind and just just just in their nature you find this
willingness and this desire to serve others so but and it's just understood
across the board that teachers don't get paid a lot in West Virginia public
service jobs in general don't get paid a lot the the salary of our corrections
officers is disturbing that's I say I think I'll just leave it at that
and I think just just sort of being in that environment and interacting with
them it I think that's just sort of how you you forge that alliance I mean you
you get involved with people and in communities and you volunteer because
it's just it's just sort of what we do it's our natural inclination alright do
you expect do you think that other public employees both in West Virginia
but beyond elsewhere in America are listening and watching what happened in
West Virginia is it having an effect do you expect it might do you want it to
how do you you know I don't want you to be too grandiose but this is historic
what you all achieved in West Virginia you probably know that people have been
talking about it that's why we're here today
what do you think about that how do you understand the possibilities of what you
achieved I think if we're going to talk about achievement and success we need to
make sure that we do not invite complacency
because the the pinnacle of what we achieved was this moment that we seized
that said we're going to educate ourselves we're going to educate each
other we're going to vote we're going to be active and that comes from what was
more a formerly passive you know sort of stance and that example is what people
look at and that's what I mean you see signs that say don't make me go West
Virginia on you because you know it's possible um will it be sustained will
whatever it is that moved you from more passive to more active is that gonna
survive is that gonna carry you because no doubt the forces you had to overcome
to get what you got will not go to sleep now the pressures to lower the salaries
and to neglect public school education that were there before didn't disappear
if you're not active you're gonna slide backwards it's kind of that situate what
do you think about that will will you be able to sustain that in yourself and in
those around you I think we're we are already realizing a little bit of that
and I can I can tell you and that coming out of the stoppage we started working
with people in in our voting regions and outside of that when you go to the
ballot box in West Virginia in November you are not looking at a bunch of
lobbyists mouthpieces or career politicians you're gonna be looking at
somebody you know who probably lives down the street and that's because when
you get out and use show concern for the common man and you're not only examining
educational policy you're looking at so many other things and I think what you
have to remember is if you make somebody mad you make somebody angry anger is
fleeting anybody knows that but engagement that's
gonna change your life you can't get it you cannot get away from and you won't
and when you have this many people who get on fire and who get engaged
you can't not and I know within the primaries we already saw a few
legislative speed bumps sort of fun sort of go away
Oh to that end we are we are continuing to work and we're also trying to make
sure that people understand that the things we fought for are not solidified
yet they are not tangible and so to sit back now means to say oh well that was a
good time Netflix and chill and that doesn't work
like what you have to do is you have to get out you have to be active you have
to know what's going on and you have to talk to other people to make sure that
our health care system is addressed and that our kids are provided for but that
happens we have to keep going right up through November to make those things
real instead of just posturing and beyond November 200 yeah so let me ask
you as we close down because of our limited time part of me really vibrates
to what you have to say because working people are the majority in this society
if what happened in West Virginia can happen beyond the public employees and
beyond the borders of West Virginia then this country can achieve things and
going directions we haven't thought possible for a long time it's possible
and that's partly why we wanted you so badly to come on the program that this
is a kind of turning point that something has happened that made you in
Kanawha County West Virginia show the rest of us what was possible before and
for that I on behalf of everybody watching thank you it's a big
inspiration and you should be proud of it because it's part of what you
achieved let me ask you to stay for those of you who can we've come to the
end of our program you can get more if you go to patreon patreon comm slash
economic update where we will continue this interview and for everybody else
thanks for joining us and we look forward to speaking with you again next
week

Mind Power + Imagination = Amazing Life - Duration: 15:20.
You can do it if you believe you can.
Imagination is the workshop of the human mind wherein old ideas and established facts may
be reassembled into new combinations and put to new uses.
Imagination has been called the creative power of the soul.
You will never have a definite purpose in life, you will never have self-confidence,
you will never have initiative and leadership unless you first create these qualities in
your imagination and see yourself in possession of them.
Just as the oak tree develops from the germ that lies in the acorn, and the bird develops
from the germ that lies asleep in the egg, so will your material achievements grow out
of the organized plans that you create in your imagination.
First comes the thought; then, organization of that thought into ideas and plans; then
transformation of those plans into reality.
The beginning, as you will observe, is in your imagination.
The imagination is both interpretative and creative in nature.
It can examine facts, concepts, and ideas, and it can create new combinations
and plans out of these.
Through its interpretative capacity the imagination has one power not generally attributed to
it; namely, the power to register vibrations and thought waves that are put into motion
from outside sources, just as the radio-receiving apparatus picks up the vibrations of sound.
The principle through which this interpretative capacity of the imagination functions is called
telepathy; the communication of thought from one mind to another, at long or short distances,
without the aid of physical or mechanical appliances.
Telepathy is an important factor to a student who is preparing to make effective use of
imagination, for the reason that this telepathic capacity of the imagination is constantly
picking up thought waves and vibrations of every description.
So-called "snap-judgment" and "hunches," which prompt one to form an opinion or decide upon
a course of action that is not in harmony with logic and reason, are usually the result
of stray thought waves that have registered in the imagination.
So well has this principle been established, through psychological research, that we have
abundance of proof that two minds which are properly attuned and in harmony with each
other may send and receive thought at long distances without the aid of mechanical apparatus
of any sort.
Rarely have two minds become so well attuned that unbroken chains of thought could be registered
in this manner, but there is evidence sufficient to establish the fact that parts of organized
thought have been picked up.
Consider, for example, what happens when a salesman who lacks confidence in himself,
and in his goods, walks in to see a prospective buyer.
Whether the prospective buyer is conscious of it or not, his imagination immediately
"senses" that lack of confidence in the salesman's mind.
The salesman's own thoughts are actually undermining his efforts.
This will explain, from another angle, why self-confidence is one of the most important
factors entering into the great struggle for success.
The principle of telepathy and the law of attraction, through which like attracts like,
explain many a failure.
If the mind has a tendency to attract from the ether those thought vibrations which harmonize
with the dominating thoughts of a given mind, you can easily understand why a negative mind
that dwells upon failure and lacks the vitalizing force of self-confidence would not attract
a positive mind that is dominated by thoughts of success.
Perhaps these explanations are somewhat abstract to the student who has not made any particular
study of the functioning processes of the mind, but it seems necessary to inject them
into this lesson as a means of enabling the student to understand and make practical use
of the subject of this lesson.
The imagination is too often regarded merely as an indefinite, untraceable, indescribable
something that does nothing but create fiction.
It is this popular disregard of the powers of the imagination that has made necessary
these more or less abstract references to one of the most important subjects of this
course.
Not only is the subject of imagination an important factor, but it is one of the most
interesting subjects, as you will observe when you begin to see how it affects all that
you do toward the achievement of your definite chief aim.
You will see how important is the subject of imagination when you stop to realize that
it is the only thing in the world over which you have absolute control.
Others may deprive you of your material wealth and cheat you in a thousand ways, but no man
can deprive you of the control and use of your imagination.
Men may deal with you unfairly, as men often do; they may deprive you of your liberty,
but they cannot take from you the privilege of using your imagination as you wish.
The major trouble with this world today lies in our lack of understanding of the power
of imagination, for if we understood this great power we could use it as a weapon with
which to wipe out poverty and misery and injustice and persecution, and this could be done in
a single generation.
This is a rather broad statement, and no one understands better than the author of this
course how useless such a statement would be if the principle upon which it is founded
were not explained in terms of the most practical, workaday nature; therefore, let us proceed
to describe what is meant.
To make this description understandable we must accept as a reality the principle of
telepathy, through the operation of which every thought we release is registering itself
in the minds of other people.
We need devote no time to proving that telepathy is a reality, for the reason that this lesson
on imagination cannot be of the slightest value to the student who has not sufficiently
informed himself to understand and accept telepathy as an established principle.
You have often heard of "mob psychology," which is nothing more nor less than some strong,
dominating idea that has been created in the mind of one or more persons, and registers
itself in the minds of other persons, through the principle of telepathy.
So strong is the power of mob psychology that two men fighting in the street will often
start a "free-for-all" fight in which by-standers will engage each other in battle without even
knowing what they are fighting about, or with whom they are fighting.
It should be borne ill mind that "there is nothing new under the sun."
Lift, on this earth may be likened to a great kaleidoscope before which the scenes and facts
and material substances are ever shifting and
changing, and all any man can do is to take these facts and substances and re-arrange
them in new combinations.
The process through which this is done is called imagination.
We have stated that the imagination is both interpretative and creative in its nature.
It can receive impressions or ideas and out of these it can form new combinations.
What a mighty power is imagination, the workshop of the soul, in which thoughts are woven into
railroads and skyscrapers and mills and factories and all manner of material wealth.
I hold it true that thoughts are things; They're endowed with bodies and breath and
wings; And that we send them forth to fill,
The world with good results or ill.
That which we call our secret thought, Speeds forth to earth's remotest spot,
Leaving its blessings or its woes, Like tracks behind it as it goes.
We build our future, thought by thought, For good or ill, yet know it not,
Yet so the universe was wrought.
Thought is another name for fate, Choose, then, thy destiny and wait,
For love brings love and hate brings hate.
If your imagination is the mirror of your soul, then you have a perfect right to stand
before that mirror and see yourself as you wish to be.
You have the right to see reflected in that magic mirror the mansion you intend to own,
the factory you intend to manage, the bank of which you intend to be president, the station
in life you intend to occupy.
Your imagination belongs to you!
Use it!
The more you use it the more efficiently it will serve you.
At the east end of the great Brooklyn Bridge in New York City, an old man conducts a cobbler
shop.
When the engineers began driving stakes and marking the foundation place for that great
steel structure this man shook his head and said "It can't be done!"
Now he looks out from his dingy little shoe-repair shop, shakes his head and asks himself: "How
did they do it?"
He saw the bridge grow before his very eyes and still he lacks the imagination to analyze
that which he saw.
The engineer who planned the bridge saw it a reality long before a single shovel of dirt
had been removed for the foundation stones.
The bridge became a reality in his imagination, because he had trained
that imagination to weave new combinations out of old ideas.
In one of the cities on the coast of California all of the land that was suitable for building
lots had been developed and put into use.
On one side of the city there were some steep hills that could not be used for building
purposes, and on the other side the land was unsuitable for buildings because it was so
low that the back water covered it once a day.
A man of imagination came to this city.
Men of imagination usually have keen minds, and this man was no exception.
The first day of his arrival he saw the possibilities for making money out of real estate.
He secured an option on those hills that were unsuitable for use because of their steepness.
He also secured an option on the ground that was unsuitable for use because of the back
water that covered it daily.
He secured these options at a very low price because the ground was supposed to be without
substantial value.
With the use of a few tons of explosives he turned those steep hills into loose dirt.
With the aid of a few tractors and some road scrapers he leveled the ground down and turned
it into beautiful building lots, and with the aid of a few mules and carts he dumped
the surplus dirt on the low ground and raised it above the water level, thereby turning
it into beautiful building lots.
He made a substantial fortune, for what?
For removing some dirt from where it was not needed to where it was needed!
For mixing some useless dirt with imagination!
The people of that little city gave this man credit for being a genius; and he was, the
same sort of genius that any one of them could have been had he used his imagination as this
man used his.
In the field of chemistry it is possible to mix two or more chemical ingredients in such
proportions that the mere act of mixing gives each of the ingredients a tremendous amount
of energy that it did not possess.
It is also possible to mix certain chemical ingredients in such proportions that all the
ingredients of the combination take on an entirely different nature, as in the case
of H2O, which is a mixture of two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen, creating water.
Chemistry is not the only field in which a combination of various physical materials
can be so assembled that each takes on a greater value, or the result is a product entirely
foreign in nature to that of its component parts.
The man who blew up those useless hills of dirt and stone and removed the surplus from
where it was not needed over to the low-land, where it was needed, gave that dirt and stone
a value that it did not have before.
On one of the great highways between New York and Philadelphia stood an old ramshackle,
time-worn barn, worth less than fifty dollars.
With the aid of a little lumber and some cement, plus imagination, this old barn has been turned
into a beautiful automobile supply station that earns a small fortune for the man who
supplied the imagination.
Across the street from my office is a little print-shop that earns coffee and rolls for
its owner and his helper, but no more.
Less than a dozen blocks away stands one of the most modern printing plants in the world,
whose owner spends most of his time traveling and has far more wealth than he will ever
use.
Twenty-two years ago those two printers were in business together.
The one who owns the big print-shop had the good judgment to ally himself with a man who
mixed imagination with printing.
This man of imagination is a writer of advertisements and he keeps the printing plant with which
he is associated supplied with more business than it can handle by analyzing its clients'
business, creating attractive advertising features, and supplying the necessary printed
material with which to make these features of service.
This plant receives top-notch prices for its printing because the imagination mixed with
that printing produces a product that most printers cannot supply.
In the city of Chicago the level of a certain boulevard was raised, which spoiled a row
of beautiful residences because the side-walk was raised to the level of the second story
windows.
While the property owners were bemoaning their ill-fortune a man of imagination came along,
purchased the property for a "song," converted the second stories into business property,
and now enjoys a handsome income from his rentals.
As you read these lines please keep in mind all that was stated in the beginning of this
lesson; especially the fact that the greatest and most profitable thing you can do with
your imagination is the act of rearranging old ideas in new combinations.
If you properly use your imagination it will help you convert your failures and mistakes
into assets of priceless value; it will lead you to discovery of a truth known only to
those who use their imagination.
Namely, that the greatest reverses and misfortunes of life often open the door to golden opportunities.
You will never know what is your capacity for achievement until you learn how to mix
your efforts with imagination.
The products of your hands, minus imagination, will yield you but a small return, but those
self same hands, when properly guided by imagination, can be made to earn you all the material wealth
you can use.
There are two ways in which you can profit by imagination.
You can develop this faculty in your own mind, or you can ally yourself with those who have
already developed it.
If you feel that your own imagination is inadequate you should form an alliance with someone whose
imagination is sufficiently developed to supply your deficiency.
There are various forms of alliance.
For example, there is the alliance of marriage and the alliance of a business partnership
and the alliance of friendship and the alliance of employer and employee.
Not all men have the capacity to serve their own best interests as employers, and those
who haven't this capacity may profit by allying themselves with men of imagination who have
such capacity.

The Best First Kisses In TV History - Duration: 5:02.
Everyone remembers their first kiss.
That's why it's always so sweet to watch your favorite television couples experience their
first kiss.
There have been countless iconic first kisses in movie history, but we're even more emotionally
invested in these television romances.
Airplanes aren't famous for being the most
romantic of places, but Mindy Kaling put them on the romance map with the mile-high kiss
in the 14th episode of The Mindy Project's second season.
It wasn't initially Kaling's plan to make Mindy and Danny more than colleagues, but
the on-screen relationship evolved naturally.
"You can't script chemistry.
After a while it became not if they would do it, but when they would do it."
After two seasons' worth of build-up, grumpy-but-lovable Danny Castellano and everywoman Mindy Lahiri
finally gave in to the romantic tension that was thick enough to cut with a knife.
"Hey, Danny, all these waters look the same I just..."
The American version of The Office premiered
in 2005, and so did possibly the most iconic TV workplace romance of all time.
It was clear to audiences from the very first episode that Dunder Mifflin's affable and
sarcastic paper salesman, Jim Halpert, and the witty and kind receptionist, Pam Beesly,
were meant to be.
A first kiss was inevitable, and while the two technically kissed at Chili's while Pam
was drunk and high off receiving her Dundie award, it's not the iconic kiss we're talking
about.
As Jenna Fischer wrote in her book, The Actor's Life: A Survival Guide:
"Everyone on the show wanted [the kiss] just right."
And boy was it ever.
When Jim confessed his love for Pam in the parking lot of Dunder Mifflin at the company's
Casino Night fundraiser, Pam initially shot him down, only to sneak away to her receptionist
desk to call her mom and talk through her feelings for Jim.
"I don't know mom, he's my best friend."
"Yeah, he's great."
Suddenly, Jim enters and the rest is history.
"Listen, Jim…"
How I Met Your Mother is a classic tale of
boy meets girl told over the course of nine long seasons.
Fans waited nine long years to meet the mysterious mother, and finally found out what the title
had long promised to reveal.
That wait came to an end during the season eight finale episode when fans were finally
treated to more than a slight glimpse at the mother, Tracy McConnell, played by Cristin
Milioti.
Adorable and spunky, she was all fans had hoped for and more.
But there was another highly anticipated moment the first kiss between Tracy and her husband-to-be,
Ted.
The long-awaited smooch was a not-quite-goodnight kiss in the ninth season.
"Goodnight"
All the waiting had finally paid off and it's
a kiss worth remembering for a long time to come.
"What are you doing?"
"Remembering this."
AMC's The Walking Dead is known for totally
surprising its fans.
It's typically with the death of a beloved character, but this particular surprise featured
one of the steamiest, most long-awaited kisses in TV history.
Michonne and her pet walkers made their first appearance in The Walking Dead's season two
finale.
Over the next four seasons, she developed an unbreakable friendship with leader-of-the-pack
Rick Grimes.
Fans were pretty persistent about wanting the friendship between the zombie-fighting
pals to develop into something more and in the tenth episode of the sixth season, their
calls for a Rick and Michonne romance were answered with an unforgettable make-out session.
Danai Gurira, the actress who portrays Michonne,
dished to Variety about the relationship: "I think there's a lot of intimacy there.
To realize this person who is very close to being your best friend is actually also someone
who you have feelings for and you find deeply attractive in a whole other way.
[...] They're deeply intimate friends, and now they're lovers."
Shonda Rhimes' hit ABC drama Grey's Anatomy
is responsible for some of the most celebrated and beloved couples to ever hit the small
screen.
Case in point: Callie Torres and Arizona Robbins.
Callie had been quite unlucky in love before meeting Arizona, who was smitten with Callie
from their first meeting.
Arizona follows Callie to the bathroom at the bar to assure her that there are people
who really like her.
And while the couple may have had a rollercoaster relationship, this first kiss where Arizona
shows Callie exactly who likes her remains one for the ages.
"Conditions can change without warning.
I think you'll know."
Unfortunately, you can't please everyone something Jessica Capshaw, the actress who portrayed
Arizona, quickly learned.
She dished to TV Line in 2011 about the backlash the show received over Callie and Arizona's
frequent, steamy make out sessions throughout the course of the show.
She revealed: "It's interesting because people don't raise
the same questions about the straight couples.
I'm not really sure where it comes from."
