- [Nancy] I think pizza fits into that category of

beloved foods in the same way fried chicken does,

and buttermilk pancakes and ice cream sundaes.

Not only is it the flavor, the experience, the memories,

but I think that it's one of the categories of food

that sort of just lights up your life.

- [Matt] I had already worked in a pizzeria.

It's actually funny because the first time

when we got our first batch of dough made,

Nancy had no idea that I had ever touched pizza dough before

or knew how to shape it.

So, she saw that happen for the first time,

I think you were a little - Yep. (laughs)

- Startled, and, well, pleasantly surprised

and so I think that she knew that

at that particular point we were gonna be in good hands.

- [Nancy] My roots are really in bread baking.

That's what my focus was for so many years.

It had been a long-term plan of mine to figure out

how to make pizza.

The intrigue with pizza for me came about

when I was in Arizona at Pizzeria Bianco.

It was the first time that I actually tasted pizza

that was much more complex than just doughy cardboard

with melted cheese and tomato sauce.

It was eye opening for me

that pizza could actually taste so delicious.

I first started eating Roman-style pizza in Rome (chuckles).

Obvious place to try it.

- [Matt] In Rome you'll find several types of pizza.

The style that we've chosen to duplicate is the one

that is sold by the weight.

I was introduced to it by Nancy.

She said, "You need to try this place.

"You need to see this, this is

"kind of a very seminal place for me."

There's no fire involved, but it was more about

how the structure of the dough was chewy,

had some crackly-ness to it.

And when the opportunity came for this property

and for this idea of doing pizza by the slice,

we thought, well, this would be a really good

kind of idea to introduce to this neighborhood.

You'll find your Margherita, you'll find a Pomodoro,

you'll find, you know, mushroom pizza,

one potato particularly, the potato pizza, which is

olive oil, sea salt, potatoes, sliced very very thinly,

sometimes speckled with rosemary

that gets baked onto the pizza.

We offer one here.

So potato pizza starts as all of our pizzas start off,

we knock out the dough, and we break it down into loaves,

and we let them sit for roughly about one to two hours.

So they can rest, and then they're easily stretched

into like three and 1/2 feet.

So the potato pizza is very particular,

because that's the one where we actually start

with the ingredients raw first.

So we take thinly sliced potatoes, and we lay them

kind of shingled onto the dough, and then we season it

with extra-virgin olive oil and sea salt,

and then we bake them in the oven.

It accordions out into the oven, and then we bake it

just for a little while,

and then we take it out halfway through,

and then we fill in the patches with the rest

of the potato, and then we let it rest,

and then we top it with mozzarella, fontina,

a small amount of black truffle cheese

which is called sottocenere,

and we finish it with a little bit of fresh rosemary

and olive oil and a touch more sea salt.

Nancy was really influenced on

this style of sausage pizza from Panicale in Umbria

where Nancy lives.

It was a pizza of just panna, mozzarella, sausage,

and red onions.

So with that, we keep the same light ingredients.

We have a slew of mustard greens

which have a very peppery, pungent flavor.

We do the panna.

We do a mixture of onions on top,

and then the sausage,

which will cut through the really delicious flavor

of the crust because the crust itself has so much flavor.

And then we bake it off with just a touch of fontina

and then olive oil and fennel follow.

- [Nancy] We wanted to make it very authentic,

all the way up to the way that it was sold.

And the way that it's sold in Rome is by the weight,

which is really the only way you can be able to charge for

a pizza that is that long.

These are not individual, personalized pizzas.

- [Matt] So when I first started going

to the Antico Forno Campo De' Fiori,

they will be blunt with you and just say,

"How much would you like?

"This much or that much?"

And then we go, "Oh, we want that much, please."

And they cut it, and so it was through that experience,

where we're like, "Oh, man! That is great!"

- [Nancy] But what's important, whatever the style it is,

is that the same care and thought has to go into

the crust and what's on top,

and that's what makes a perfect pizza.

know number one what is amiss a social and communication disorder that's

basically how it's categorized because people who have autism have an issue

with communications and social communications this is key to knowing

all about autism number two now people with Asperger's syndrome which is on the

autism spectrum actually have typically a above average IQ which basically means

that they're typically into like maths music engineering and physics and stuff

like that because of their ability to understand things of that complex nature

number 3 lots of famous people also have an autism spectrum condition like Dan

Aykroyd Bill Gates and Adam Young from the band Owl City these people all have

an alternate spectrum condition but they're super famous and they're awesome

in their careers so that's something to be super proud of so number four this is

kind of a cool one autism isn't specific to age or gender a lot of people back in

the day used to think that females weren't able to be on the autism

spectrum but this is clearly not true because there are lots of females who

are on the spectrum and although men or boys are three times as likely to get

analysis of autism then the females this doesn't mean that the females don't have

it and doesn't mean that as many females don't have it just means that they don't

diagnose as many females as it they do males at the moment okay number five

autism isn't caused by vaccines or pollution or diet and more than likely

something that's hereditary or genetic but we still don't even know yet science

doesn't know what causes it and if you want to see more about the causes and

not causes of autism I did a video about that which I'll leave in the description

below or in the cap above here so you can check that out okay so number six

autism is in fact the fastest-growing developmental disorder in the whole of

the United States and that's a pretty big country okay so for all you research

buffs out there who may be watching this video to learn a little bit more about

autumn for the history side of it bought ISM was first introduced in the 1940s I

think Ron Rock 1943 by dr. Leo Kanner and at the same time Hans Asperger was

conducting almost identical research on this specific subject in another part of

the world which is fascinating so both of these men came up with this

diagnostic process of this this syndrome pretty much at the exact same time so

it's worth checking out both if I'm alone more okay so number eight there is

no known cure for autism because I guess half of the battle is that that dunno

what causes that there's no way they can even think about curing it but the idea

to cure it because it's a neurological condition is almost impossible when you

try and think of it and a lot of people come up with ideas that they they've

found a cure to autism which is dangerous stuff and I would highly

recommend staying away from any of that information if you see it online but

there is no known cure for autism and they don't really know what causes it

okay so number nine autism actually comes a lot of the time with comorbid

conditions and this means that it comes alongside something else so somebody

with an autism spectrum condition may also have ADHD or like OCD or some other

condition like learning disabilities or something else along the way it seems to

mostly hover around those things like autism spectrum conditions are a lot of

the time comorbid okay so number 10 now I love keeping the juices going on the

most interesting one until last time I found that this is super super

interesting when I came across this fact that actually kind of surprised me and I

didn't know about this and I should have known about it earlier when I was doing

my research but I found this super super fascinating sultanate number

ten here we go bought ism used to be called early infantile autism or canis

syndrome from real candy who did that study and i find this fascinating

that's not just shortened to autism and I always fight like to find the history

in the background of something where or comes from and I have loads and loads of

fun actually researching these facts and putting these in there for you in a

on MSC season MSC seaside yes it's true we are going on MSC seaside for a summer

knew the name and everything and what do you use these for

mostly swimming in pools hot tubs some when I go to or at the beach that's how

what he uses to snorkel you did a really good job so we're all done with your

personal item your backpack that you're gonna take on the plane so I'm gonna put

this away is that okay okay cattails in there so they are a little worn out but

you know this young man likes his comfy shoes he doesn't want to buy any fancy

shoes for dinner it's like no mom I'm wearing my tennies and then this is his

those are for just what I'm regularly walking around okay just kind of most

you forget that we did bring him a hat so here's his little hat any old

baseball cap will do this one's nice and worn in also as I'd mention it if you

have our other videos you may remember that we were saying that there was extra

room in his carry-on bag that is because his stuff is tiny so some of the things

that are gonna go in his bag are going to be my husband's tripod a pop-up

hamper and this is our stateroom necessities kit inside our stateroom

necessities kit if you're new to our channel and you haven't watched our

videos before or seen this this has a non surge power cord it also scoot this

way just a little tiny bit sweetheart just to tie it perfect thank you oh

that's a good idea you're getting ready for the next segment

good next segment okay okay I'm gonna get back to what I was saying give me

one second okay don't you love this anyway my husband's USB charger I have a

few magnets in here for the walls as well in case we have limited storage and

that's pretty much it other than my travel alarm clock and a few wet

swimsuit bags so again watch the first two videos in this series and let's get

back to junior editor and talk about what's in your other bags yeah a ferry

picture the surprise I'll show you later okay

alright so do you want to go over this bag first yeah this one here yeah this

is one of the pairs of your shorts this is all your shorts and your t-shirts so

we have a lot of shorts that look a little bit like this very casual he has

this new cool tank hoodie that he got at the tank what he at Anki he calls it and

taking it to tank with a hood on it and pull up the hood and show him yeah okay

you want to show him okay sounds good so this is his tank hoodie from Old Navy

he has two of these yeah and so we don't yeah we don't have to show them

everything in the bag we'll just show a little sneak peeks but he has a lot of

stuff like this to go with shorts for him I think we packed about five or six

pairs of shorts with matching t-shirts so one tip for when you're packing for

kids is same with packing with adults try to lay the outfits out to match

first so instead of for me taking stacks of shorts and stacks of t-shirts that

are just his favorites it doesn't work because he has so many wild prints like

his Pink Floyd shirt everybody loves this shirt that I really have to find

things that match so a couple of nice basic gray t-shirts are always good too

so we're not gonna go into any more oh you want to show them this shirt oh yeah

The Beatles this is his be alert he loves this one yeah it's really stretchy

too you could stretch it like really far yeah isn't it soft too I want this as my

pajamas I would love it if I had a shirt like this for my pajamas so he does have

some favorites there and so this is kind of what I would call his casual wear

shirts and t-shirts packing cube and this is another reason we love cubes is

because it allows you to separate and organize and really just get things

ready now this is junior editors pre comfy clothes

this is his pre cruise bag this is the bag we're taking to the hotel the night

before so if you've been watching the other two videos you know that what

we're doing is we're taking a convenience bag that we can take into

the hotel with us the night before our cruise that is gonna have dirty clothes

put back into it or if you're driving to port you can put it back in your car

with the packing cube so he has his Star Wars jammies in here those are nice he's

I'm a Star Wars fans so we have a sleep outfit basically this is like a jammy set yeah

yeah exactly and then yeah haven't worn this much so he has it basically this is

a three-piece jogging suit with pants a little t-shirt yeah it is and then like

a little jacket so this is for the airplane this is what he is going to

wear yeah your socks are beat-up and I'm sorry you like your clothes comfortable

though every time mommy tries to buy you something new I know whoops I forgot to

put your jammies second so that is his pre cruise bag and we've really tried to

get better about making sure that every member of the family has one of these so

you're not opening your suitcases when you get to your hotel and digging

through your cruise clothes for your day of clothes so separation is a good thing

with those all right now we're on to the swimsuits and the underpants and the

ties for junior editors so he has his little underwear we didn't forget junior

editors underpants she has underwear he has three choices of ties he's probably

gonna want to match his dad so we have a bow tie and a few other ties are you

holding up your underpants son underwear underwear exists so these are the little

bow ties that he's going to be taking excuse me and regular ties they're both

they're not the clip-on kind they're the type that go around the shirt show you

his shirts later and then this is where I'm keeping all of his socks so socks

underpants and then he has his rash guards this is just one of two to keep

him protected when he is in the sun and several little swim

trunks so you guys can imagine what the swim trunks in the rash guards and the

underwear all look like but I thought you might like to see his little ties

are you putting on your tie son backwards can I have it back to pack

back in here are you gonna wear it for the rest of the video

okay you are looking dapper now so funny okay so this is our last packing cube

for you can you guess what's in here that we haven't talked about yet normal

night stuff okay so this is all his dinner we're not necessarily formal

night stuff but we have and for the white party yep he has no party and thus

no party oh no I don't think they are I think they're different we'll see so

anyway these are junior editors formal pants these are a nice kind of probably

like a polyester with an adjustable waistband that he's been wearing for a

little while now he'll wear these on the two formal nights with his dressier

shirts he he also has a he's got his own agenda he also has jeans that he'll wear

most nights to dinner and then he has a pair of comfy fleece pants that he can

kind of wear his jammies as you notice I didn't really pack him formal pajamas or

specific pajamas because he tends to run around in like a pair of underwear and a

t-shirt or these and a t-shirt can I show him your shirt you are you're

microphones down in your shorts yeah so oh your fleece okay let's go ahead and

show everybody your shirts okay all right guys this is junior editors one of

one of his short sleeve shirts that I got at Ross it's really cute and he's

gonna wear this with jeans then for formal night he has his stormtrooper

shirt that all iured and he'll wear with one of the ties that we featured earlier

he looks good with that he'll tie yeah and then this is his this is to match

your dad huh yeah yeah so this is for formal night and this he can also wear

to the white party with one of his ties all of this stuff still needs to be

ironed I don't iron his stuff before we go you

guys it's just too much we'll see if we can get it ironed on the ship and then a

few more dinner this is one of his casual polos from Old

Navy I love the hombre of the shirt and I think he'll look so handsome wearing

this with yeah and that one matches daddy's that heee that we showed and

then this last shirt here is just a basic polo that we got on a $3 sale at

Old Navy last weekend we were so excited so yeah mr. uh mr. junior editor this

rounds out your your stuff what do you think you're gonna keep going with the

Official Sea of Thieves Behind the Scenes: The Brigantine - Duration: 7:18.

Hello and welcome to another Behind the Scenes on Sea of Thieves here at Rare

and today I'm joined by Senior Designer Andrew Preston

and Software Engineer Tristan Bell and today we are talking about

The Brigantine

First of all why? Why did we choose to do this?

So the Brigantine was never on our roadmap we never planned to

do it at all but there's been there an overwhelming amount of feedback about

wanting a ship that's in between the sloop and the Galleon so we listend to the

feedback and that's why we're doing it.

So that's kind of why but how are we putting it together?

What is the process of putting together a ship?

So usually when we're starting to design any new ship we'll go into Maya and basically

get a rough block out of the ship so it's dimensions its scale where things

are going to be on the ship how players navigate the ship

Very rough and ready.

Then get that into the game as quickly as possible to basically walk around it

and make sure the dimensions are correct and that all the things are in the correct places.

Once we're happy with the white box we then pass it over to the

art team and they begin modeling it for real.

Is there some changes that happen in between there?

Absolutely. Well we we make as many

iterations as we can join the white box phase because it's a much faster

process it's a very kind of rough and ready model we can chop and change

things very quickly it's harder to make changes when they start getting modeled for real.

So we try and do as much stuff up front as possible and then we make

more subtle changes when we're doing it.

Because I if I can remember rightly

the first time I saw it the masts and stuff had changed, the position of them.

Yeah that's right and we started out with the the front mast and

the capstan being the other way around we actually went into production like

that but then we weren't happy with the silhouette of the ship and and how easy

it was to access some of the areas of the ship so we ended up shuffling them

around when we started doing it for real.

Obviously there's a design aspect but there is the whole "putting the ship together" aspect

and that's your job, right Tristan?

Yes! Yeah, so

the number of systems that we have in Sea of Thieves keep growing over time as it's a sandbox game.

So the ship is probably the most complicated thing that we have to set up.

There's so many parameters for say the

storms how the Kraken tentacles wrap around the ship now the Megalodon and so

that all just has to be recreated to make a ship that feels in the same

family as the galleon and the sloop but has its own unique personality in a way

so it's a lot of fine tuning between the engineers on sort of the

maths and the buoyancy and the handling and designers to make sure that it

sits nice and snug in the middle of those two.

The buoyancy part of it is really critical to get right.

Yes it's a tough thing to get right and obviously

the sea is quite complex in Sea of Thieves and you know it looks beautiful

and we want to make sure that the ship's behave and handle how you would

expect them to in that world so there's a lot of tinkering with buoyancy

probes on the side of the ship how much they change

when you're going over the waves and stuff like we've recently been tweaking

the Brigantine so that when you crash over the big waves and the nose

dives into the water then it slows the ship down a little bit so that

the water doesn't cut too much over the top deck so there's a lot of

considerations there to make it feel right on the water.

Was there any technical hurdles with this one in particular that was a particular challenge this ship?

I think probably just the the nature of it being new

and the the design of it being sort of curved in the middle so it sort

of dips down a little bit yeah we have to make sure that the buoyancy was

able to handle that and so you don't end up going below the waves

because of the dip and so there was a lot of just back-and-forth tuning in

there making sure the buoyancy probes sat in the right place to keep the ship

above water without looking like it was just on the surface of it.

There's lots of things to consider from a design point of view with the fill rate of the water

when ships sinking in and how fast the wheel turns.

Yeah exactly, we're trying to create that kind of family of ships

so we've got the Sloop that's designed one to two players the Galleon is designed for four players

and this kind of sits nice and in between the two so we've been trying to

balance the feel of it to be in between the two as well

so how fast accelerates what its top speed is how long it takes to rotate the sails

how much the wheel rotates how much rudder force you get

but yeah there's a there's a bunch of different parameters that we have to kind of tweak

to make it have this unique feel like Tristan said where it sits amongst

on its own amongst the other two.

An advantage that we have in that is that

it's all hand authored so every aspect of how the ship handles in the waves is

sort of specific to that ship so we're not designing a massive complicated system that just handles everything.

We get to say.

How much does a slowdown when it hits the waves? How much does it speed up

when it crashes and like into water from a height?

So they all need tweaking and they marry up quite well to create one overall experience.

The cosmetics how will they work with the new ship?

So everything that you've bought thus far will just work on the on the Brigantine for sure

and everything going forward will as well. So we've kind of gone back to everything and made sure everything will work.

Finally, what can players expect from this what's their main takeaway from it?

I would say expect something in between the Sloop and the Galleon in terms of

how much effort it is to keep it at keep it afloat to sail it on the waves

it feels like that perfect like party of three ship.

Yeah it's a really nice kind of nimble experience that it does sit

perfectly in between the two and I think it'll just provide a different

way of playing the game you know three player ship it's gonna feel similar but

like just a new experience in itself

so for for crews of three that are currently playing on the Galleon that want that big ship experience

currently that's like a little bit too challenging for them

all the features on the ship are too far away from each other it's very slow

it's hard to move around so this is that perfect ship size for them.

It's not quite as big as the galleon but it gives you that big ship feel but it's much easier to handle for that crew size

It'll be great to see more variation of ships in the game

as players sort of roam the Sea of Thieves on the horizon you're gonna get a bit

more variety and it'll be great to see what stories come out of that.
