what's up fishtank repol Dustin's fish tanks bringing it to you with another

pond update how's everybody doing I hope you're doing well I want to give you

what's been going on in the pond in a two week time period where I was

actually going on vacation took a little RV trip with the in-laws around upstate

New York had an absolutely epic time but a lot happened in the two weeks that I

was gone I think there's a lot of lessons that you all can take away from

this and today's video I'm gonna give you an update on what's going on with

the invasive species that are overtaking my pond we've got some bugs that are

overtaking one of my favorite plants I'm gonna trim that plant up today I'm also

going to show you all the importance of roots and an accident that I came home

to that luckily my boy Josh was able to clean up so here we go

excited about aqua cello but that's another video want to show you around

the garden pond I guess I'll stand up so this is what

chill this is my cup from Amelia stamps calm my girl on Instagram if you're not

following me on Instagram by the way andrew has been slaughtering it we're

featuring people's tanks you can email your tank to editor at Dustin's

fishtanks calm and we are featuring those on Instagram a lot of people have

some beautiful tanks so thank you for everybody showing around that stuff also

follow me on instagram at Dustin's fishtanks on Instagram we're here to

show you more well here's what's up got all this going on with the pond all

right first things first obviously everything is overgrown with the weeds

here I'll show you my actual plants down here the ferns doing well this plant

look at this plant y'all look at this I forget the name of it but like that's my

coffee cup next to this plant I hope you all can get that this plant is

absolutely blowing up totally love it this plant was purchased at McClure's

you can click links around here and check out that 360 video I did at

McClure's I wish that 360 video was done better here's the plan in case you all

are wondering what's up we have already gotten with the city of Jasmine County

we're going to be bringing in water here we're going to be getting with some

electric too soon so the greenhouse 2.0 is coming yeah over here the ficus was

out and actually did pretty well I don't know what this plant is if anybody knows

what that is let me know we'll roll around here obviously when you leave for

vacation things get a little overgrown I've got a honey-do list a mile long

because I got to do all this weeding or whatever but you'll notice as we walk

out here something's a little bit different and I'm gonna show you at the

end of this video about that but let's talk about the pond folks first things

first water highest and I got a video coming

out on Sunday talking about all kinds of evasive species and fish but the water

hyacinth took over this in Andhra I hope you can

get this shot one of my baby koi is out right now he's hiding away I got a white

I got a white black and white baby koi in there that's super sweet so when I

came home I actually removed a ridiculous amount of water hyacinth from

the this is about half of what I had removed

so like this was all just up in there you could barely see any of the plants

so I had to thin this stuff out got some Manan kuris growing in it as

well actually throw that back in there but the pond was basically choked out

now I want to point out a couple of things on here these have been removed

just recently on the water hyacinth the water highest and this can happen in

your aquariums too if you look at your plants the plants tell you the story

these have slightly yellowing underneath and if you can see on here there's a few

of them with a little bit of yellowing underneath these are better examples

what happened was the pond got covered in hyacinth

there was no rain until the last day and I'll talk about that in a minute look at

the dragonfly greeting me what's up dude on camera see that on point on camera on

cue me and him but what I was saying is the water hyacinth ear actually has a

little bit of yellowing going on underneath what that is is a lack of

nutrients well what happened the plants covered the entire surface there was no

water changes there was no rain and it sucked all of the macro micro elements

out of it basically the plants got a little bit hungry okay now when I finned

it out they're a little bit more green but you can see these were a little bit

yellowing on the edges of the hyacinth fast-growing plant will roll over this

way I want to walk around here we're going to come back to this in a second

cuz I'm actually gonna trim this up for you huh look at this you think dusty

needs to mow the lawn two weeks time boom over curled like crazy with the

grass but check this out this is interesting to me this is the hibiscus

and mal and shut up everybody given explaining like with a difference in

these plants this plant stopped flowering I don't know if it's just a

seasonal thing I don't know if it's a nutrient deficiency I don't know what's

happening but these used to be big beautiful flowers you can click links

around here and see how that's going on I also tried to thin out this look we're

not perfect here I tried to thin this and add it over here it slowly died a

little bit but you can see it's kind of coming back just a tiny bit so the

initial stuff this happens in accordian plants happens upon plants its thinned

out it looks a little bad but then inside the center here

you can see this new growth coming and I didn't see this until I got up close so

what I need to do is come out here and hack this Josh has my scissors but new

growth is coming on these because I wanted to kind of like make a field and

kind of hide this right here so coming it's coming back whatever so I'm curious

what's up with this right here I don't know if it's just up there yeah I lost

it I don't know just a water or a lack of nutrients in the water whatever

obviously I've got a lot of weeds around here but let's talk about my favorite

plant the plant that I bring to the aquatic experience every year in Chicago

probably gonna bring it to the aquatic experience this year in New Jersey

definitely gonna bring it with me too I would yeah bro Chicago I can't wait to

see you coming up real soon I think in like three weeks

kids awkward skated because that's coming more on that but look at this

this you all had some great feedback on the Japanese beetles coming through and

just tearing this apart so what I'm gonna do because this plant grows so

quickly and this is advice that you can use on your Amazon swords you can use it

on your jungle Val you can use it on your sedge I'm showing it full throttle

style on the red stem talia and that is this just cut these leaves okay this

leaf is not doing the plant as much good as this leaf because this sleep is beat

up so we're gonna trim this sucker back that's gonna cause the plant to say oh

sweet these leaves are working better and it's gonna grow even more when I do

that note it's about to have the giant spike thing come out the top super

pumped about that get to work mom yeah that's right give birth to me and then

clean up my give birth to me and then clean up my pond sorry she comes down I

don't even I don't even ask her to start cleaning up the ponds you just start

I get a new greenhouse I'll be selling the off runs of this dude it's an

amazing plant lets them Talia I bring it in in the wintertime and I let it sit

and barely lived in the greenhouse and then I come back out in the summertime

it just goes wrong what she got beat up now it appears as though those beetles

are gone they're not as many beetles on here look at that there's no more

beetles on here they like gave up I can't hold this plant down you all know

this I've said it before and I'll say it again dusty when I pass on to the next

life there is a certain plant that needs to be with me in the afterlife and that

plant is jungle bonus area and I'm about to show you why as I get into a pond

with a $200 wireless microphone here it is this is giant jungle val not the

regular val but look at this plant folks this plant is bout it and in ain't

living without it come down here and I'm gonna show you this Josh and I actually

put some of this in an order but this is giant jungle val like oh my love it love

it love it like this plant is awesome there's a reason this plant is in all of

my best selling beginner planting combos it's also actually left this little

container right here and has gone down into the substrate on itself oh by the

way these are the swords that we're selling for a whopping 3 bucks so yeah

you want to get yourself a fully underwater groans sword there you go but

you can see the val is actually coming out the top here I actually saw this

plant and I had to get down into the water and play with it when I was up on

my beloved Lake Erie you can check that clip out as well Lake Erie style here

EPA vilification told Josh peppy little horn

word in there Joe

that's nothing to do with fish tanks but it has to do with plants so I'm breaking

it to you we had a big storm today before I got home this is a water maple

they say you're not supposed to plant these trees and with good reason the

larger your roots the larger your clan unfortunately these

types of plants don't have that big of roots well look at this sucker hardly

any rude massive tree like pulley has fallen down so I want to tie it back

into aquariums for you which you have good news

generally speaking you'll have your plants you don't have good roots this

kind of stuff can happen so check out this massive tree that came down and

it's been sitting here to a good home water maples are meant to be around

watering out on the street this is just hornwort fast-growing oxygenating plant

illegal in a bunch of states superfly though this stuff allegedly grows in

Siberia it's Ivan Drago tuff you can click links around here and check out my

bulletproof species this is one of them it's illegal for a reason because it

grows so freakin fast though but great for breeding fish great for absorbing

nitrates out of the tank fish like getting busy in it click links around it

for the horniest fish video hornwort invasive species for sure it'll blow up

anywhere so this is what's up with the pond do me a favor folks drop me a

comment on any sort of overgrown you've seen with like a hyacinth or a water

lettuce note the difference between the high the water lettuce and the water

hyacinth the water hyacinth is losing to the water lettuce the water hyacinth is

losing to the water lettuce in this little battle I've also got some really

fire a little bit leggy but Stella still hotter coming out pretty legit out of

the pond here it loses the lower growth it then grows like crazy on top so

that's what I'm doing hit the like button subscribe button share button go

follow me on Instagram and email editor at Dustin's fishtanks calm your sick

aquariums but let me know what you think of this

pawn and what invasive stuff you guys let me know if you could win a hack with

chellie Chicago come on my run here to the last video

say tank on everybody say take on my no she's out take on everybody later

JK Rowling Reveals the True Identity of the ZouWu from the Comic-Con Trailer for Fantastic Beasts 2 - Duration: 6:26.

Hello Fantastic Beast Fans!

So, today I offer you a correction video to a correction video.

First time for that!

But this one is great because it includes a new clip from JK Rowling herself!

I'm Susan Şipal with Fantastic Secrets Behind Fantastic Beasts to bring you the clues.

Join me and other Fantastic Beasts fans here on the BeastChaser Forum as we uncover the

secrets, discover what's coming first, and play along with Rowling's newest game.

And make sure you hit the subscribe button as well as the bell notification so you'll

be notified when videos post and won't miss out on the next clues!

So, there was quite a bit of confusion in fandom following the release of the Comic-Con

trailer regarding the beast Newt is seen trying to corral.

Even my corrected video didn't get the animal quite right.

And I have WizardWho to thank for setting us all straight.

WizardWho lives in Beijing and has been a Harry Potter fan for decades as well as covering

news of the Wizarding World for a very long time.

As she's not only Chinese, but knows mythology, she was able to quickly find the correct beast

when Warner Brothers in China identified it as a ZouWu.

And here is JK Rowling talking about it in a newly released clip from Warner Brothers:

"In Chinese mythology there is a Chinese bestiary that is utterly fascinating.

The ZouWu is terrifying if you're a normal human being, and to Newt Scamander like a

big kitten.

This is how it's described in Chinese mythology: gigantic elephant-sized cat, five-coloured,

really does take Newt Scamander to contain and look after that beast."

"Gigantic elephant-sized cat, five-coloured."

Both the Taowu and the ZouWu seem to be described in very similar ways in mythology: large,

feline animals, long hair, very long tail, and tusks, which is why I think there was

confusion in the first place.

Plus, the fact that there is almost nothing in English on the ZouWu, and even very little

in Chinese.

If Rowling wanted us to work for this clue, she sure picked her beast well!

Aside from the name, the other thing that I got wrong in my last video was the personality.

While the Taowu is mostly considered an evil creature and is listed as one of the four

fiends, the ZouWu is quite peaceful.

According to WizardWho, who consulted the same bestiary Rowling did, it's a gentle

beast that would never harm any living being and only eats meat from animals who died naturally.

She later added, "It can travel a thousand miles a day as well."

Also: "Legend has it as a lucky sign of foreign lords to pledge allegiance to the

emperor."

She also said that the ZouWu is one of their lesser known mythical creatures, and she was

quite surprised by Rowling including it in the film.

I'd also speculated that Newt was luring it with what looked like a squirrel…so now

we know that would have to be a dead squirrel, which fits the image.

I still believe that the ZouWu is the animal we see hidden on the screenplay cover as,

again, the descriptions are so similar, and I was comparing the screenplay animal to the

one in the trailer anyhow.

But now, knowing the true nature of the ZouWu, I believe it's also another play on a couple

of Rowling's favorite themes, of how appearances can be deceiving and how we make beasts of

others who are different than us.

Also, as I've noted a couple of times, with Jacob being a No-Maj, he'll need some magical

transportation to keep up with the Team.

I've speculated on his Occamy as one such method, and more recently on travel via suitcase

portkey.

Now, I'm wondering if Rowling is perhaps planning multiple vehicles for our cuddly

No-Maj, and if a fast-traveling, big cuddly, snarly ZouWu might figure into future plans.

Also, @WizardWho offers this fabulous theory: "Could the ZouWu be released by Credence?

We saw the scene when Credence hit a cage full of creatures on the first trailer of

FB2.

It seems like he could be trying to free slaved beasts from the circus."

I really think she's onto something good here.

Ezra Miller has indicated in interviews that Credence is coming to terms with what happened

to him in FB1, and that includes a certain anger and distrust of the wizarding world.

I still believe it's a huge hint toward FB3 going to China, especially considering

that Eddie had to learn one word in Mandarin to speak to it, which, alas, got cut.

Plus, Katherine Waterston noted in the same interview that JK Rowling knew a ton about

what was going on in China at this time.

Also, The Rowling Library posted this interview from a year ago where Rowling spoke with a

popular Chinese show to promote the films.

The film crew traveled to the UK to interview not only Rowling, but Eddie Redmayne as well.

As Rowling is known for giving few interviews, The Rowling Library speculates this one may

have served as a test for the market in China.

And pondering about Chinese settings might also be why she had this mountain in China

as a header on her Twitter homepage a few months back!

Thanks to @MrBartolozzi for the great catch on this one!

Finally, there is the symbolism of the ZouWu as a pledge of allegiance from a foreign leader

to the Emperor.

Rowling did say in the interview that Newt only contained the beast, but looked after

it.

As China was a key part of the Allied resistance fighting against Japan in World War 2, I'm

wondering if Newt and Team could return the ZouWu to its homeland in FB3 as a sign of

cooperation and partnership in fighting against Grindelwald's growing threat.

Perhaps to Shanghai as it was invaded by Japan in 1932 and was the site of China's first

active resistance.

Thanks so much to WizardWho for all this wonderful information.

You can check her out on Twitter here!

So, what do you think?

Would you like to pet the ZouWu?

And what city in China would you like to see in FB3?

I'm voting on Shanghai!

Please share your thoughts in the comments.

And please check out my new Fan Shop on Amazon for books and Funko Pops and wands and all

things Fantastic Beasts!

Until next time!

Mac vs PC - Which Is Better? - Duration: 8:49.

When we talk about PCs, we mean "personal computer", which is quite a broad term.

After all, your smartphone or laptop or even your calculator are all kinds of personal

computers.

But the term we use now originally meant "IBM PC-compatible", and this related to IBM's

computers that could run certain operating systems.

Nowadays we tend to think of PCs as computers that run operating systems such as Windows

or Linux, and those computers have been separated from Macintosh computers.

But in terms of hardware these days, we are not talking chalk and cheese.

The differences are more like Camembert and Cheddar...for the record, we think Macs are

the former in this analogy).

And of course some people prefer one over the other- but why?

Today we will look at some of the reasons, as delve into some statistics, in this episode

of the Infographics Show, Mac vs PC.

So, the first statistic we will look at tells us that Windows OS is way out in front in

terms of market share.

It currently has a massive 88.53 percent share of the global market.

Mac OS has 8.75 percent.

Linux meanwhile is third at 2.27 percent.

Though Microsoft has been feverishly pushing people to use its latest operating system,

Windows 10, more users around the world are still on Windows 7, but Windows 10 is catching

up and should be in front by 2020.

As for how many people in the world are currently using Mac compared to PC, it's said that

over one billion people in 2017 were actively using Windows, with about 400 million of those

people using Windows 10.

Apple on the other hand said that total Mac users was about 100 million.

If so many people are fond of Apple's OS, why are so few people using it?

Well, the cost for one thing.

A couple of years ago, the average Mac cost around $1,300.

That was compared to the $600 the average person spent on a PC.

If we look at Apple's new top of the line 15-inch MacBook Pro, the price is $2,799.00.

Meanwhile Microsoft's Surface Book costs around the same and there are plenty of other

high-end laptops out there, but Apple doesn't exactly have a bargain basement the way PC

does.

If we are talking about desktops, the iMac Pro is currently on sale for $4,999.

Again, there are PC desktops out there that cost around the same amount of money, such

as Microsoft's Surface Studio, but there are many, many budget desktops that the average

person can afford, while the smallest, cheapest iMac is still around $1,300.

But maybe you're a gamer.

We looked at lists of best gaming desktop computers in 2018 and none of Apple's machines

were listed.

Many of the best gaming machines were anywhere from $900 - $5,000, with some reviewers saying

the best of the budget gaming PCs was the Dell XPS Tower SE at around $550.

The website TechAdvisor sums it up like this for gaming regarding Mac vs PC, "This category

isn't even close.

If you like gaming, then a Windows PC is hands-down the better choice over a Mac.", and the

title of a 2017 article by Digital Trends should be answer enough, "Why gaming on

MacOS is dead forever and never coming back."

If you look at the popular gaming service Steam's gaming statistics for March 2018,

the numbers show that around 99 percent of gamers were using Windows, indicating that

the vast majority of gamers seem to prefer PC.

What this all tells us is what you already probably know.

Apple's machines are sleek and look beautiful, but if you are a budget-minded person, there

will likely always be a cheaper PC out there that is just as good in terms of what it can

do.

If you are a gamer, a designer, or just someone who streams TV and writes emails, you can

find a Windows PC as good as any Mac that will cost you less money.

What it often boils down to is what operating system you prefer or what you have just gotten

used to.

Users become fluent in things like keyboard shortcuts or they just prefer certain programs

on one OS.

But it's not all about functionality, though.

Apple's design looks good.

It always has, and some people say that's why Macs are so popular with the creative

community.

If you want to look good, you get a Mac, after all, not everyone who drives a Ferrari is

interested in driving at 180mph or even cares what is under the hood.

They bought the car as a status symbol, just as Macs still give people a high-status badge.

Some people will likely deny this, but there is ample evidence out there that all around

the world Apple products are indeed a status symbol.

Most critics tell us this is slowly changing, though, as manufacturers of PCs have concentrated

more over the last few years on making machines that look cool.

Now you may be thinking, oh no, not me, you see I'm all about security and I'm not

interested in showing off.

U.S. security firm Kaspersky wrote that while indeed Macs were prone to fewer online threats

as PCs were in the past, that is changing.

"The rising popularity of Mac operating systems in recent years has made them a prime

target for cybercriminals and Macs have subsequently fallen prey to a number of viruses, malware

and other web threats," wrote the company.

It is still true, though, wrote Kaspersky, that Windows machines are presently more vulnerable

to viruses than Macs.

So that is one very good reason to buy a Mac, even though we shouldn't have a false sense

of security in light of the growing number of Mac attacks, but for now, with the majority

of the world using PCs, that's where the majority of cyber attacks are focused.

Another thing is the fact it's so easy to build onto your PC compared to a Mac.

Apple wants to keep you in its own ecosystem, and this isn't always a good thing.

It gives users fewer options and can add to costs.

But Microsoft has its flaws too: When Windows 10 came out, it was severely criticized for

being too pushy regarding advertising, and for employing data tracking features in the

OS that weren't always obvious.

"Windows 10 is spying on you", became a headline for a while after the OS was released.

But what are the best selling computers of all time?

Well, number one goes to the Commodore 64, released in 1982 with over 17 million units.

Next was the Commodore Amiga 500 (released in 1987, with 6 million units); MSX (released

in 1983, with 5 million units); and Sinclair ZX Spectrum (released in 1982, with 5 million

units).

1977's Apple II sold one million units and 1998's iMac sold around 800,000 units.

Historically, PCs reign supreme over Mac.

For 2017, when we look at total PC sales against Mac sales, Apple is still a ways behind other

manufacturers.

Apple PC sales that year were 19.6 million, while Dell sold 41,821,000 PCs.

Lenovo sold 54,857,000 PCs and HP was on top, selling 58,800,000 PCs.

If we look at quarter one 2018, the top four are still in the same position.

Apple has so far shipped 4.26 million units, Dell 9.88 million, Lenovo 12.35 million, and

HP 12.86 million.

Many critics out there believe that Apple must once again stun people as it's been

resting on its laurels for too long.

In terms of what's under the hood, Apple's machines aren't much different from what

many other manufacturers release.

In terms of sleekness and originality, many of Apple's foes now have machines that are

almost as pleasant to the eye as the Apple machine.

If Apple wants to improve its market share, it's high time they come up with a bold

new design and offer improved hardware or more useful software.

Finally, we might add that Windows has a far larger application library.

In 2017 there were around 670,000 apps in the Windows Store and four million applications

outside the Store.

The Mac App Store by comparison had around 30,000 apps, with some people a few years

back asking if the company had given up on the store altogether.

In conclusion, PCs have budget machines for all your needs- so if you are short a penny

or two then PCs win all the way.

Macs are great machines, though, and if you like the style and the functionality, then

you should buy one, but if you are looking for power and are budget-minded, you should

stick with

a PC.

So, which

do you prefer?

Is Apple's outward style better than having better hardware inside?

They Compare?!

Deck F.A. (Julio/July 2018) + Analisis - Duration: 15:24.

DECK PROFILE

Deck name: F.A

Variant: Pure

Type of deck: CONTROL

Main attribute: WIND - Main Type: Machine

BEST FIRT HAND - First turn

DECK: Formula Athlete(F.A)

Difficulty(Control): ★★☆☆☆ MEDIUM

DEAD HANDS : 18 %

The game style of the "f.a" archetype is of the control / Aggro type. Where the key is to invoke a monster "f.a", then activate spell cards or trap "f.a" to increase the level of the monsters, and thus obtain its additional effect.

One of the key cards is F.A. Hang On Mach. Which when exceeding level 7, gets any card sent by opponent to the cemetery, be banned instantly. [Part1]

This it is one of the most uncomfortable effects for the opponent. Another monster to take into account is F.A. Dawn Dragster Its effect of denying spell cards or trap cards is the key on the deck. [PART2]

•Strengths• 1.-Excellent control when starting with F.A. Hang on Mach and F.A. City Grand Prix on our first turn.

2.-Protection, draw and discarding. Thanks to the fields F.A.

3.-Very good to fill the field of monsters and perform OTK taking advantage of the graveyard effects of the magic cards "F.A". Just like F.A Auto Navigator

•Weaknesses• 1.-The biggest weakness of the deck is to start second on the duel. Another weakness is the Brick that is achieved when we start with many fields and no monsters, or also in the opposite case, only monsters and no fields.

2.-It is weak in the face of destruction effects such as Raigeki, Dark hole and Mirror Force. Being "F.A. Motorhome Transport", one of the few that can stand on the field.

Skill Drain: It is the worst card that our deck "F.A" can face, since we would leave our monsters with 0 of ATK.

Set Rotation: If our opponent activates the established rotation and leaves us a field, which we can not activate, it seriously limits our game, since we depend a lot on the "F.A" fields.

Macro Cosmos:Macro cosmos is another of the deck's enemies. Because we depend on our cemetery to recover with the spells "F.A" and with "F.A Auto Navigator".

Economic Recommendations

Another Styles of Play Metalfoes: The idea is to take advantage of the pendulum effect of "Metalfoes" monsters to destroy the "F.A" field and thus add a "F.A" card. The metalfoes will improve the defensive part of the deck.

Zoodiac: Similar to the style with Metalfoes. It seeks to destroy the fields. The difference is that instead of supporting the defensive side, look for the offensive and a little more versatility.

Windwitch: With the Windwitch it is possible to improve in the control part, since it gives us the ability to invoke Crystal Wing, and also to be able to accelerate the Synchro invocation.

Dining Car Steak - Duration: 1:36.

If you've ever had the opportunity to have dinner in the dining car of a train, then

you'll probably have some pretty fond memories of it.

Now, I'm not talking about grabbing a hot dog and a bag of chips at the concession stand,

but rather sitting down to a complete meal in the dining car.

The recipe we're making today is inspired by just that.

Plus, it's perfect for this time of year when you want to serve something special.

The first thing we're going to do is mix some softened butter with some mixed garlic, a

squeeze of lemon juice, and chopped parsley.

Then we spoon that down the center of a piece of wax paper and roll it up, creating a log.

While the butter chills in the fridge we'll cook up a couple of strip or rib-eye steaks

that we've seasoned.

When the chilled, season butter hits the hot steak and begins to melt, get ready to take

a bite of the most flavorful steak you ever tasted.

To get the recipe for our melt-in-your-mouth steak all you have to do is visit our website

and look for what we call Dining Car Steak.

I'm Howard in the Mr. Food Test Kitchen, where today we found a dining car-fancy way for

you to say, "Ooh It's So Good!"

Mmm.

No Small Creator - Duration: 4:23.

Oh hi!

KYLE: So Matt has been working out of Media Lab for the last couple of days.

Say "hi" Matt.

MATT: Hi.

KYLE: No, I said say hi Matt and you were supposed to say hi Matt.

It would have been hilarious.

You ruined it.

Go ruin something else.

Anyway.

MATT: Want to buy me McDonald's?

KYLE: What do you mean buy you McDonald's?

MATT: Alright!

Matt introduced me to No Small Creators.

I'll put a card that links to the video up in the top right corner.

It should be there now.

Hopefully.

If it's not that's really awk–

Let me try to distill the message down into it's essence.

Into it's purest form.

The Michelle Pfeiffer of content, if you will.

It's the idea that we are more than the number that appears underneath our videos.

I'm not trying to pretend that I'm bigger that what I am.

In the grand scheme of things I'm a micro channel.

But can we not still provide value?

That's … that's an actual question.

Please validate me.

There's a comments section for a reason.

For many, who wish that YouTube could become a full time job, there is this ideal that

they hold onto.

They have a million+ subscribers.

They can survive off of the generosity of their audience.

They can pursue opportunities because of their audience.

They're allowed to murder one person each year.

Tom Hanks overdoes that allowance each year, but … how can you stay mad at that face?

Value is so hard to quantify.

I mean there's monetary value, which has all sorts of problems, but you can sell something

for $20 and people will either decide to buy it or not.

But there is also emotional, spiritual, and intellectual value.

And that can vary wildly amongst different people.

I mean, I vividly remember going to watch the movie Boyhood.

And because I'm pretentious I loved it.

Anyway, I had this deep, emotional response to the this near 3 hour long film.

The credits come up, I'm wiping away tears, and the guy behind me stands up and loudly

proclaims "Well that was a waste of time!"

We were two people who watched the same thing but experienced something completely different.

And this is not an indictment on the guy behind, who was very clearly and obviously wrong.

But it's to show that value can't possibly be summed up by popularity.

I won't go through my entire sob story of how for many years I struggled with finding

value in anything.

I felt lost, and hopeless.

There were small flourishes here and there, I don't want to make it sound like friends

and family weren't around to spread joy and precious memories.

But there were long stretches of seeming despair.

And in those moments I found just a bit of respite from the creations of other people.

The musicals of Stephen Sondheim, the books of J.K.

Rowling, and the fake fighting of professional wrestling.

At some point we should go through each of those in particular, but I want to move on

to my own creative life.

I turned a corner from a consumer to a creator in the late 2010s.

There has to be a better name for that decade.

20 teens?

I'm not going to jail for this.

OK, I can't think of anything.

But I really became a creator of things in the 2010s.

And I knew it would take a while to create what I thought was needed.

Followers.

Because I looked at other people making videos, and what they were able to do, and all I could

focus on was that number under their videos.

That number was always large.

The cool people that I watched had these amazing numbers.

And here I was in the single digit territory.

Also the subtitle to the book I'm writing on my dating life.

Single Digit Territory.

All I wanted was those followers.

Because followers meant that I was valuable.

Without that big number I was worthless.

Mental health is a bitch.

It's really only been in the last couple years that I realized that my approach has

always been wrong.

Followers are not what I should care about.

Subscribers are not the be all and end all.

But community is.

This is not just one of those marketing things where they substitute one name for another

and try to sell you on some grow fast scheme.

And usually is packaged in a very useful pyramid shape.

The number being big is fun.

It gives you a lot of opportunities.

But people who find a lot of value in you, and can't wait to watch each week is a much

better situation to be in.

Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, one of my all time favourite TV shows

once said that "I'd rather make a show 100 people need to see, than a show that 1000

people want to see."

Because those 100 people will stick with you, engage with you, and be able to support you.

It might not be millions of people, but it means I've created something incredibly

valuable.

Plus I can go and get my Starbucks in the morning without showering and nobody gives

a rip.

There truly isn't such a thing as a small creator.

Not when you're making something of value.

I strive to do that each week.

Let me know how I'm doing below.

Have a great day, I'll talk with you next Thursday!
