Waching daily Aug 3 2018

welcome back to Palace app entertainment where we I found you faker thank you I

think you're the fake Hedgehog around here you're comparing yourself to me

you're not even good enough to be ranked you eat those words

ladies and gentlemen something hilarious has been going on in the quote unquote

animation community and I feel it's my duty to talk about it before team star

gets here lately there has been accusations being thrown around about

certain people tracing their artwork certainly not myself as much as you

haters think that I traced the great Leonardo DiCaprio I'm talking about the

animation channel Fox Goodman now who is Fox Goodman you may ask well he's

basically an odd ones out superfan that traces work and launched his own YouTube

channel another youtuber named Daft pina coladas made a popular video exposing

him for tracing which Fox later admitted to doing in his response video Fox

Goodman do you trace yes obviously personally I don't see a problem with

tracing for the sake of making videos as long as it's original hell you can make

content just by using two JPEGs boy I got one question for you what are those

hey where's your backbone okay I'm done with the skit the problem lies in

monetizing an image claiming it as your own and making a profit off of it the

best way I can describe this is like the difference between Weird Al making a

parody song of Michael Jackson and somebody pretending to be Michael

Jackson I initially felt bad for Fox he was making original content

albeit not that and great and was being judged for stupid things like not citing

his sources when he used clip art from Google images like come on do you think

that the person who made this PNG of a plunger wants to be cited this is a

YouTube video not an APA research paper plus I'm nothing without my PNG s the

problem I have with Fox bad man haha easy joke swings up when it comes to how

he handles criticism the main theory being that he created the second channel

in order to make more ad revenue and that this trace drawing of the odwin

zack camera links them together one of the most notable assets is the fact that

they use the same camera traced in the odd ones out Svidler with the ad revenue

part it'd be much easier gain traction uploading more videos to

one channel the camera part along with their similar intros had me convinced

I'd into that the fact that both of them frequently appearing common sections

together and the fact that Daffy Pina pulled out a spectrogram linking both of

their voices together and everything seems to make sense

now if I were Fox Goodman what I would respond with would be not a Dalek I'm

not Matt Spicer you guys are blowing this out of proportion I just like

making videos for fun plus here's a video of me and Matt hanging out insane

words that's it but somehow he managed to make the situation even worse and

this is where things get Alerus not only did he deny the accusations he basically

deflected the question by calling the evidence pointless for all the tenfold

hack conspiracy theorists out there who rely on stuff like the special Gramm and

comparing frequencies it's 100% false your honor I did not commit the murder

just because there's eyewitness testimony and blood samples doesn't mean

that I did anything those detectives are just haters and all of my real jurors

will support me kilt you I'll kilt you if you disagree with me it

gets even better Fox Goodman calls out the world's

greatest conspiracy theorists I am putting out an open challenge to the

biggest conspiracy theorists out there and he knows who he is by which he means

that pinna and challenges him to find undeniable proof that he is Matt Spicer

the end result being that he was elite his channel if he succeeds first of all

how dare you disrespect Shane Dawson like that and second of all did I forget

to mention that he wants $100,000 to pull this off that's not a joke watch

the video this is why I want to raise $100,000 out of this GoFundMe have you

ever heard of Skype he says that the money it would also be used to start

doing free giveaways for subscribers but I don't think he understands the meaning

of the word free that's like if I went to my local cárdenas and some lady was

giving away free cheese samples and when I was halfway through eating the cheese

she snapped the cheese out of my hand and said give me $100 those two intents

we're not talking about $100 we're not talking about $10,000 we're talking

about 100,000 moolah I could buy a mansion in Detroit and be

next-door neighbors with Eminem he could feature on my album to his defense so I

haven't seen a link to his GoFundMe page so maybe he just forgot or he just said

that to get attention which is genius since you clicked on this video and I

felt passionate enough to make it that would also help to explain why he wants

staff to make a response video and once the other ones out to desperately

comment on the situation but we're forgetting about the most important

person's opinion about this whole entire thing and that's the odd ones out

himself which I don't think he has to the dude is making kids happy with his

book this is for smaller dirty youtubers that are trying to get money to buy a

Nintendo switch all that this is too real didn't nobody expose me all that I

really want answered is whether or not they're the same person and for him to

switch up his art cell a little bit just like you did in theirs response video

hell I'm a nice guy too so I'll do a face reveal for half the amount of money

fifty thousand dollars I got you and I'll be giving away daily

Virtual Boy consoles as well with all that being said how do you feel about

like how do you feel about Vox Goodman is he Matt Spicer

should he be forced to change his art style am i secretly both of them

manipulating everything behind the scenes so that I can afford a Nintendo

switch leave it in the comment and don't forget to like the video or else a clone

of you or replace you in your sleep and purely speaking outdated memes damn

Daniel oh my god no

Making of - Glow In The Dark Split End - 10000 DOMINOES - Duration: 2:29.

That is a so-called 'Split End' - That means that we have built a line which splits into 2 lines

Those lines split up again and so on so we'll end up with 256 ends which will hopefully fall down at the same time

The moustraps will create the final effect - They will be triggerred at the same time ...

... than the glowing sticks (which are placed on every single mouse trap) ...

.. will fly up all at the same time which will hopefully create an amazing effect!

In front of every mouse trap we built 2 dominoes which at taped together

The reason is that those 2 dominoes have more power and trigger the mouse traps more effecively than one domino would do

I think that the huge end effect when all mouse traps will trigger at the same time will be unique!

And if it really works out as we planned it than this project will be on of my favourite projects because ...

such kind of a split end - when everything falls at the same time ... that's really ....

... hard to describe ... but it's amazing to watch it

*Everyone ready?* (Yes! ... Yes!) *Turn off the light*

Three, two, one!

Top 10 Convicts Who Freaked Out After Given A Life Sentence - Part 2 - Duration: 10:04.

Convicts are people who are found guilty of crimes sometimes these crimes include criminal

homicide, murder, aggravated assault.

For some reason these criminals have no problems committing these horrible crimes but when

they are caught and its time for sentencing they freak out and seek for forgiveness

well at that point it seems to late.

How's it going you guys I am landon dowlatsingh and lets get right into this one, this is

the top 10 convict who freaked out after given a life sentence part 2.

If you missed part 1 just click right over here.

Starting us off at number 10.

That was Leon Montgomery who was facing a 30 yr sentencing for the death of a new born

baby.

He was freaking out at the judge saying he was innocent and he deserves a new trial.

Leon was waiting for his trial for a few years.

When he received 30 yrs that's when he started to freak out and the judge gave him an additional

6 months for freaking out in court.

I am not sure if I believe that the judge should have given an additional 6 months for

this guy freaking out in court because his life just flashed before his eyes getting

the life sentencing not sure if people could actually be calm about that.

I think the judge should have just sentencing him quickly and dismissed him from the courts

but than again this man committed murder so why go easy on him.

He didn't go easy on the victim.

Number 9.

We have 32 yr old Robert Hodges who is a father of 3.

Well he appeared in front of a judge and his family while being sentencing for murdering

his 3 children, strangling two of them with a belt.

One of his kids was just 7 months old, and Robert also tried to murder his wife.

Is this real life right now, how do people become so messed up that murder is on there

mind.

So the clip I am about to show you guys is from a court room in California.

Robert begged the courts for forgiveness but luckily the judge said the court does not

forgive him and will give him a life sentence if he pleaded guilty.

If he did not than he would have been given the death penalty.

Moving into number 8.

That person freaking out was actually 20 yr old Torres who decided to drive around yelling

the N word and she was threatening people with a gun, including children well those

acts was enough to charge her with street gang terrorism.

So she was sentenced to 15 yrs behind bars.

Hopefully 15 yrs is enough time to smarten up and to realize what she had done.

Alright moving into number 7 and this clip is actually of a father freaking out during

a sentencing of a convicted killer.

Let me tell you guys the back story.

Van Terry is the father you are about to see attack convicted sex offender and murder Michael

Madison in court after he murder his daughter Shirellda Terry.

This took place in Cleveland and its really really sad.

The father was detained but hopefully he was arrested because that is a very difficult

situation to stay contained in.

The father was probably in court during the whole trial listening to all of the details

about how his daughter died.

Moving into number 6 we have this young guy who was just given a life sentence for murder.

From listening to the court tapes of this guy it seems like fire was involved with his

crime because you can hear the judge talking about burn patterns.

Well at the end of the trial the judge sentenced this young man to life in prison and this

guy just bursts out crying and begs for forgiveness right away, and than

he falls to the ground in total shock.

In at number 5 we actually have a Judge who freaked out at a convict and I couldn't

believe it.

Professionalism was just thrown out the window.

times like this it must be very tough to be a judge I couldn't imagine hearing about

all these brutal crimes day and night.

Well I guess we know where this judge stands when it comes to the death penalty.

At number 4 we have Mr. Jones who is in court accused of murder.

While he was in front of the judge he decides to act like this.

I am really afraid for that officer right next to him it seems like Mr. Jones thinks

he is a vampire and hes about to strike another person.

And what ever state this is in, the death penalty exists.

This guy is freaking out but in his own way that I can't even describe.

I think this is why you should say no to drugs kids.

A convict launches himself at the victims family is up next at number 3.

This courtroom went into chaos in Wisconsin after convict man Andrew launched himself

into the audience.

The victims family was sitting in the first two rows.

Police officers quickly restrained him, they had to taser him to bring him under control.

Andrew was convicted with 2 counts of first- degree intentional homicide in the death of

Gregg Peters and his girlfriend Jennifer Luick who was actually a police officer.

A convicted man being pepper sprayed in court is on our list at number 2.

So for this one we have a convicted killer who was in front of a judge while getting

sentencing.

He decided he didn't want to listen to the courts rules so police officers had to restrain

him.

After restraining the convicted man, he still wasn't cooperating so the police officer

takes out her pepper spray and tries to retain the convict.

Watch.

Finally at number 1 we have a confessed murderer who collapses in court after an Ohio judge

sentenced him to life without parole.

Well there you guys have it, thanks so much for watching this video I will see you all

in the next one.

DIY | Guide to Common Automotive Electrical Connections - Duration: 11:31.

- Hi, I'm Matt Lewis with Hagerty

and today's DIY we're gonna talk about

different ways to connect wires and why you would use them.

So for today's demonstration I'm going to introduce

you to some of my favorite tools.

This one right here, our wire strippers,

auto strippers.

And these, this is a nice set of crimpers

designed for crimping.

Butt connectors and different types of connectors.

Finally we have a more standard wire stripper.

I don't like these as much as the auto-stripper,

but they do a fine job.

Personally, I just, I like these better.

So we'll set those aside.

Now to start off with any wire connection,

what you're gonna want to do is

make sure you have

some bare wire showing.

Now, especially if you're working on

an older car you wanna make sure that

this bare wire is shiny and clean.

Often times, you'll see corrosion and that

sort of thing and that can actually

add resistance to the circuit.

And may cause things to not function properly.

In order to connect these two,

something I always like to do with wires

is just give them a twist.

It helps keep these strands of this stranded wire

bunched together,

and it makes it a little neater when you're

going to connect them.

We'll do the same with our red wire.

First way we're going to connect these two

wires is with a barrel connector, or a butt connector

as I've heard them called.

These are little plastic connectors where

on the inside, there's a metal tube essentially.

And that metal tube is what connects the two wires.

You can see this metal tube has a split down the middle

that's something to keep in mind.

You're gonna want to orient yourself with that split.

So, we'll take our first wire.

We'll run it in.

Being careful that the shielding of the wire

extends inside of our connector here.

We know we have that done well.

So what we're gonna do is

I like to take,

as you can see there's the split here

on this top.

I like to have that facing away.

So that when we used our crimper,

we're placing that in the cop,

or the bottom.

So you can see where it is here on the bottom.

And then when we crimp down.

We make a good strong, grab of that wire.

Now, we're gonna do the same thing with our

second blue side.

Slide this inside of here.

Again, making sure that the shielding

on the wire extends inside of this connector.

And crimping it down like we did with the red.

This makes a nice strong connection.

That's just fine for a lot of applications.

This style of connection connects these two wires,

fairly well electrically.

Where these don't work as well is

in an environment that might get wet.

Outside of the car, under the car,

in the engine bay.

I don't like these as much because moisture

and water can get inside.

And start to corrode this connection.

So these definitely work well inside of the cab.

If you're wiring up a stereo,

that sort of thing.

But I'd avoid using them anywhere that

moisture could really get to them.

If you would like to use a barrel connector

somewhere that susceptible to moisture,

they do make special ones that have

heat-shrink too, on the outside.

So you would connect these,

the exact same way we did the other one.

With our nice crimper tool.

Now that this connections made,

you can use a lighter,

you can use a heat gun.

I have a little special tool here.

So this is just a very small

butane-style soldering iron that came with a

tip specifically for heat-shrink.

And so we'll just wrap it around.

Now the heat from this will shrink down

this external tube.

And as you can see now.

This side is right up against the shielding

of this wire.

Not allowing any moisture inside of our connection.

This is gonna be a better situation

for sealing up this connection

than your just normal plastic style

that doesn't shrink down at all.

So this would be okay to use under the hood,

underneath the car,

somewhere that is susceptible to moisture.

Because it seals off this end of the wire.

Now you can buy kits of different

types of connectors.

This one here.

And then this is a much nicer

that has the shrink style connector on it.

We'll talk about those in a minute.

You can get these at local hardware stores,

at auto part stores, that sort of thing.

And it's nice to have a variety of connectors.

So I like to keep a couple of kits with me.

So let's say we wanna hook up to something like a switch.

Here I've got a pretty standard automotive

switch with the spade-style terminals on the back.

They make specific connectors just to hook to those.

This first one here is a non-shielded connector.

You can see the end is just bare metal.

And then the same thing with a shielded end.

So if you're worried about the switch location

and it shorting out or hitting ground

or running into other wires,

you're gonna wanna run the shielded one

to kind of protect that circuit.

If you're not worried about it at all,

this fellow will do just fine.

So you don't have to have a nice set of

wire-strippers like these in order to

work with the electrical,

but I really like these.

It gives you a very accurate means by which to

strip this wire.

Depending on where you place it,

is how much wire is removed.

You wanna remove about a quarter inch

of shielding when you're working with a connector

like this.

And as I did before,

twist it up and then make sure it extends

far enough in that your shielding is inside

the shielding on the connector

and your wire is extending into the

actual terminal section of the connector.

And with our shielded connector if you're

worried about shorting out and that sort of thing,

it's the exact same deal.

Insert the wire so that the shield is

inside of the shielded connector.

Take our crimper and crimp down.

And now, simply attach it to the connection.

Now you may be wanting to connect to a

post-style terminal like this ignition coil has.

And what you're gonna wanna do with those is

what's called a Ring Terminal.

These Ring Terminals come in a few different sizes.

Not only are they different sizes for

the gauge of the wire that you're working on.

Small, medium, large.

And these colors correspond to the gauge.

But also, the size of the ring that you're

working with.

So you wanna make sure that it's not too big

and sloppy on the ring.

But it also needs to fit over.

So we're gonna go ahead and select this

medium, red-style terminal.

Just like before, we'll twist off our wire.

Slide the terminal over it,

get a nice crimp.

And we're gonna be able to fit this down over,

put a washer back in place.

And you take down your nut,

now you have a nice connection from

your wire to your stud.

So if you don't have good space to be

working with a Ring Terminal,

you do have a few other options.

There's this hook-style terminal,

and then there's this fork-style terminal.

And these are useful if you can't get the

nut all the way off or

it's the type of connector that doesn't come all the way up.

It needs to go under a screw.

What you would do is connect onto this.

And then you can simply slide that onto

your stud and tighten down.

Which would make a decent connection.

Or like with this hook one,

you can get it underneath.

That way if this wire does get pulled on

it's still gonna hold.

So for our final connection type,

we're gonna be soldering.

So here I've got a brand new soldering iron

right from the auto part store.

Cost about five dollars,

comes with a nice little metal stand.

Cause it's gonna get super hot.

And then you just plug it into the wall and

wait until it's hot enough to start

melting the solder.

It usually takes about five to ten minutes.

Go ahead and just apply some to the tip.

You can see yes, it's melting on there nice.

You got a nice little bit of smoke.

So we're ready to start soldering wires.

The solder I've brought today is a 60/40 mix

this is 60 percent tin, 40 percent lead.

And is a Rosin Core Solder.

They make Acid Core Solder,

but you don't want to use that.

That's more for like stained glass work.

Electrical work you almost always want to use

Rosin Core Solder.

So go ahead and take our two wires,

strip 'em back.

You can strip it a little bit more than normal

on this one.

And I like to twist these two together,

make sure they're nice and twisted.

And you wanna make sure you have good

penetration of the solder into the wires.

Good way I found to do that is if you heat the

backside of the wire and kind of feed it in

to the back of the wire.

You'll see it soak in and start to take the

shape of that twisted wire.

If it's nice and shiny and it's taken the shape

of the wire,

that's gonna be a nice good strong connection

for these two wires.

You can see they're really held together with

this solder.

To finish it off, once this is cooled down a little bit.

What we'll do

is put a shrink tube,

make sure to completely cover the exposed wire.

I'm gonna go ahead and use our nice little

shrink tube tool.

So as you can see with our connector now,

the bare wire is completely covered by a shrink tube.

It has been soldered together.

And this is a very strong connection.

Both electrically and physically.

You can't really pull them apart.

This is the best scenario in my opinion

for connecting two wires together.

But if you don't have the space,

you don't have the tools,

you can use these different butt-style connectors

to get the same job done.

Now you may find yourself in a situation

where you need to plug in and unplug a circuit.

Whether it's a temporary light bar or maybe

an external speaker for hooking up to your car.

And what they make for that type of thing is

this bullet connector.

And these are nice,

because they still make a good connection.

Just like our barrel connector did,

to the wire.

The benefit of this is,

you can then plug in when you need it

then when you don't you can unplug it.

So if it's something that you're taking

in and out of the car that needs to

be temporary, this is a great solution.

3 Steps to Help Secure Your Retirement | DLC YouTube - Duration: 1:40.

One of the biggest fears plaguing individuals approaching age 55 is whether they will have

enough money to support or maintain a lifestyle they desire.

Number 1: Analyze guaranteed income like pension and Social Security that could expose you

to a shortfall.

Overall you want to come up with the retirement plan and the first thing you need to do is

analyze where your guaranteed sources of income are coming from.

Social security, pensions, a beneficiary of the trust are all examples of guaranteed income

and those should be identified as they become the baseline for determining how much is needed

from your investments.

Number 2: Create a retirement income plan.

It is important regardless of your financial station in life to create a well thought-out

and well researched retirement income plan.

The plan should show you what you will receive as income, what's guaranteed and what's required

for your investments to live the lifestyle you envision.

This is the time of your life when you should take nothing to chance and if you haven't

taken the time to create a detailed plan then you are approaching your retirement years

blindly.

Number 3: Understand how different income is taxed.

Social Security, money coming out of your retirement plan, dividends, and capital gains

are all taxed differently.

It is important to understand how taxation works or find a professional who can help

explain the various tax laws.

Beyond Today -- Which Commandments Do Christians Have to Obey? - Duration: 28:27.

[Steve Myers] If you're like me you love a discount.

I love a deal.

You never know what might be waiting on the often overlooked shelves and corners of a

thrift store.

It's always interesting, sometimes entertaining and occasionally an educational experience.

A while ago I stopped by a local thrift shop and began my search.

I was looking through all kinds of oddities hoping I might find something valuable.

Then it caught my eye.

It wasn't a useless trinket, a broken gadget or an old knickknack.

It wasn't just any old junk item.

There it was on a shelf amid the clutter of discarded decorations and cast-off curios.

It seemed to me to be a priceless possession, but it was marked with a blue sticker that

read only one dollar!

It was a charming plaque inscribed with the Ten Commandments, the law of God, certainly

worth more.

After all they are God's guidelines to a successful life, yet marked for only a buck.

This brought a question to my mind, "How much is God's law worth to me?"

What price do you place on God's law?

The decoration reminded me that the most widespread controversy about the teachings of Jesus concerns

God's law.

Do you think that Jesus' instructions in the New Testament discounted or replaced the

teachings of the Old Testament?

Most churches and denominations believe Jesus brought new doctrine that was very different

from the instructions of the Old Testament.

Many believe that Christ did away with the teachings of the Old Testament, in a sense

casting them off to the thrift shop.

So, what exactly does Jesus have to say about the law?

Has he relegated it to a quaint plaque?

You need to know the surprising answer.

Stay tuned to this edition of Beyond Today as we help you answer the question, "Which

Commandments Do Christians Have to Obey?"

Do you think that the teachings of Jesus in the New Testament canceled or replaced the

teachings in the Old Testament?

What was Christ's attitude toward the laws of God recorded in the Old Testament?

Most religions believe that Jesus' taught that the Old Testament laws are no longer

binding on Christians today.

Were His teachings altogether different from the instructions in the Old Testament?

Many think Christ annulled the teachings of the Old Testament so they should be cast off

like that plaque in the thrift shop.

But should they?

What exactly does Jesus have to say about the law?

Should Christians obey the law?

I was visiting with someone not too long ago and we got into a conversation about God's

law and which Old Testament laws apply today.

It went something like this.

As we began to talk, she told me she felt Jesus nailed the law to the cross so she didn't

have to worry about it.

I asked her, "To what laws are you referring?"

She focused on the Saturday Sabbath.

She told me that the seventh day Sabbath observance was done away at the crucifixion and that

old law was no longer necessary.

"In fact," she said, "didn't Jesus Himself say that He fulfilled the law?"

I wanted to help her understand what Christ and really what the Bible teach in the New

Testament about the law of the Old Testament.

I realized that she was making the same mistake that most Christians, and Jews alike for that

matter, make about the teachings of Jesus.

Both hold the mistaken idea that Jesus departed from the teachings of the Old Testament especially

in regard to law.

I mentioned to her there's no doubt that Jesus disagreed with the religious leaders

of His day.

But did you know that He didn't disagree with Old Testament Scripture?

Christ made a crystal clear statement about the law in the New Testament.

So we turned to a section of scripture that's the longest recorded statement of Christ's

teachings.

It's often called the Sermon on the Mount.

This is where we can find His view toward the law of God as recorded in the Old Testament.

Here's what Jesus said, "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets.

I did not come to destroy but to fulfill" (Matthew 5:17).

I explained because Jesus' preaching was so different from that of the Pharisees and

the Sadducees, they were the religious leaders of His day, some mistake what Jesus did.

His real intention was to challenge them.

Jesus showed that their example and teaching were contrary to the teachings of the Bible.

Christ said, "I did not come to destroy but to fulfill."

You see, Jesus had no intention of destroying the law of God, not doing away with it or

nailing it to the cross.

He even tells us not to even think such a thing.

"Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets."

Now my friend thought about that for a moment and then asked me about the term "the Law

and the Prophets."

What exactly is that talking about?

I described that it was an expression commonly used for the Old Testament Scriptures.

Far from being opposed to the Old Testament Jesus said He had come to fulfill "the Law

and the Prophets."

"So fulfilling the law is not finishing it and ending it?" she asked me.

"Isn't that what Jesus meant when He spoke of fulfilling the law?

Since He said He would fulfill the law, I guess we don't need to keep it any longer."

I said, "Well that's what so many people believe, but it's just not the case.

When you look up that word translated "fulfill" in a lexicon it will show you that it means

"to make full, to fill up, to fill to the full" or "to complete" (Thayer's Greek-English

Lexicon of the New Testament, 2002, Strong's number 4137).

In other words, Jesus said He came to complete the law and make it perfect, or in other words

to show its true meaning.

"So you're telling me that Jesus didn't mean that He ended the law by fulfilling it?"

I said, "Exactly!

Christ said He came to show its true meaning and make the Law perfect.

One Bible translation puts it this way.

"Do not think that I have come to do away with or undo the Law or the Prophets; I have

come not to do away with or undo but to complete and fulfill them" (Amplified Bible, Classic

Edition AMPC).

That ties in with what it says in Isaiah 42:21.

It says, "He [Christ] will magnify the law, and make it honorable."

You might ask, "How did Christ magnify or complete the law?

What did He do?"

He magnified it by showing the spiritual intent of God's law.

That's so important to realize.

Jesus demonstrated how the law continues to have a spiritual application, even today.

Actually in a way it made it even more difficult to keep, not that it was no longer necessary.

So you see our Savior showed that deeper meaning, that spiritual meaning and purpose of God's

law.

He set the example by meeting the requirement of the law by obeying it perfectly in thought

and in action.

He obeyed the letter of the law and its spiritual intent.

If you take an honest approach to the Bible, you'll clearly see that this is true.

Jesus himself demonstrates it a moment later right here in scripture, he demonstrates that

teaching of the spiritual application of specific commandments.

Notice how He does this in Matthew 5:21.

He says, "As you know, long ago God instructed Moses to tell His people, 'Do not murder;

those who murder will be judged and punished.

But here is the even harder truth: anyone who is angry with his brother will be judged

for his anger'" (Matthew 5:22).

You see here Christ showed the spiritual application of the law and that it applies today.

The spiritual application of "do not murder" is, do not even be angry.

So as we continued our discussion, she thought about what Christ taught.

After a moment she said, "I was always taught that it was nailed to the cross.

I know there's a passage that talks about that."

Well I had to agree.

There is a passage that states that something was nailed to the cross.

But was it the law?

We looked at that verse that's found in Colossians 2:14.

It refers to Christ "having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against

us, which was contrary to us.

And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."

(NKJ)

When we examine this passage, is it really saying that God's law was wiped out or nailed

to the cross?

Are the commandments done away?

When you have a question about a Bible passage, we always have to remember to read those verses

that go before and after it and by looking at the context of the scripture we find the

verse before it identifies what Christ's death wiped out.

"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has

made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses" (Colossians 2:13).

So what's the real problem?

It's our trespasses.

In other words our sin is the real issue.

It's not God's law.

Only sins are wiped out and nailed to the cross, not the law of God.

This becomes clearer by looking at the next phrase "having wiped out the handwriting

of requirements that was against us" (Colossians 2:14).

What are the requirements against us?

It's NOT God's law.

It's the penalty of the law.

The word here means "an opinion, or a (a public) decree" (Robert Thomas, New American

Standard Hebrew-Aramaic and Greek Dictionaries, 1999).

When you realize the background you'll find a better understanding.

In fact, there's a historical aspect that's very interesting about this passage.

Back in the day, this expression referred to an official handwritten sentence or a charge

against someone for breaking a law.

Notice this translation: "He canceled the record of the charges against us and took

it away by nailing it to the cross."

(NLT) The Living Bible also clearly renders this verse, "He took this list of sins and

destroyed it by nailing it to the cross."

Jesus did in fact take something out of the way and it was nailed to His cross.

He is our Savior and He took the penalty that we deserve.

We deserve death for our sins.

He died for us and that through Him we can be forgiven.

He told exactly the same thing to us in Acts 3:19.

Peter said, "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out" (NIV).

It's also recorded for us, "I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for

My own sake; And I will not remember your sins" (Isaiah 43:25).

So when these various passages are taken together it begins to give us a clearer understanding

of Jesus and the Law.

It was evident, evident that my friend began to recognize that she was dedicated to becoming

a faithful student of God's Word.

She said she understood that the Bible is more than just a collection of old poems and

letters and we talked about the fact that the Bible, both the Old Testament and the

New Testament, fit together in such an amazing way.

It is the inspired Word of God and it must be our guidebook for life.

Now as we discussed these passages we zeroed in on another part of the statement that was

made by Jesus about the Law.

It's found in Matthew 5:18.

He said, "For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one

tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled."

Jesus had just gotten done saying, "I did not come to destroy but to fulfill."

Now He makes His meaning even clearer.

Jesus compares the permanence of His law to the stability of heaven and earth.

Another translation of the Bible puts it this way, "Indeed, I assure you, as long as heaven

and earth endure, not even the smallest detail of the Law will be done away with until its

purpose is complete."

(TPT)

Doesn't it become apparent that Jesus did not come to annul or abolish the law?

He taught that as long as there are still fleshly human beings that God's law is necessary.

So, Christ teaches it is unchangeable; it's immutable and can only be fulfilled, not revoked.

Now it was about this time in our discussion that I asked, "Do you believe that the 10

commandments are still to be kept today?"

She told me that she felt that at least some of them applied now.

She commented, "I was taught from the time I was a little girl that I should tell the

truth, and not steal.

Don't covet what doesn't belong to me."

But when it came to "remember the Sabbath, to keep it holy," she said, "I was always

under the impression that the Sabbath command was somehow no longer required."

That's when our talk turned to the very next passage in Matthew 5.

It's a powerful verse.

Jesus taught that even our future depends on our attitude toward the Commandments and

our obedience to God's holy law.

"So whoever sets aside any command that seems unimportant and teaches others to do

the same will be unimportant in the kingdom of heaven.

But whoever does and teaches what the commands say will be called great in the kingdom of

heaven."

(Matthew 5:19 GW)

Doesn't Jesus make it obvious?

He says that those who continue in law breaking and also teach others to break God's law,

will not themselves be in His Kingdom at all.

As we spoke about it I mentioned if someone truly wants to be a follower of Christ and

ultimately be in His Kingdom, they do have a continual obligation to obey and to uphold

God's law.

He says that we shouldn't minimize the law of God.

Not even by the tiniest bit, not even the crossing of a "t" or dotting of an "i."

That's how much Jesus valued the law.

He says that He disapproves of those who downplay even the very least of the law's commands.

Who would want to disappoint Almighty God?

Yet on the other hand, honor will be given to those who teach and obey His commandments.

We know that Jesus obeyed the commandments of God perfectly.

So it follows that His servants must keep the commandments and teach others to do the

same.

It's no wonder it is recorded for us twice in scripture, "I am the LORD, I do not change."

That's Malachi 3:6.

Hebrews 13:8 says, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever."

This brought us to a crossroads in our discussion: whether or not Christians have to obey the

10 commandments.

More specifically the controversial commandment number 4.

It seems that no biblical command has stirred as much controversy as the Fourth Commandment.

That's God's instruction to "remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy" found

in Exodus 20:8.

First we talked about some of the misunderstandings, some of the misconceptions about that passage:

- Some believe that Jesus replaced the Sabbath and He now is our "rest."

- Others believe the Sabbath is abolished and we can worship on any day or any time

we choose.

- Some think Jesus annulled all of the Ten Commandments but that nine were reinstituted

in the New Testament, all except the Sabbath.

- Most traditional Christianity believes that the Sabbath, the seventh day of the week,

was replaced by Sunday, the first day of the week.

We both agreed that we should stick to the facts that we could find in our Bibles.

I was glad that she wanted to find the truth right from the pages of Scripture, in view

of Christ's practice.

So what was His attitude and teaching about the Sabbath day?

As we dug into the Bible, one of the first things we noticed is that Jesus' custom

was to attend the synagogue for worship on the Sabbath.

Luke 4:16 says, "Then Jesus came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up.

As usual he went into the synagogue on the day of rest—a holy day.

He stood up to read the lesson."

(GW) This was His regular practice.

His habit, it was to observe the Sabbath and on this particular Sabbath Day He even announced

His mission as the Messiah.

It also came to my mind that after the Crucifixion, the Apostle Paul continued to observe the

Sabbath.

He worshipped and also taught on the Sabbath day.

The New Testament records: "Then Paul, as his custom was, went in to them, and for three

Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and demonstrating that the Christ

had to suffer and rise again from the dead…"

(Acts 17:2-3).

As we studied this, we found that neither Paul nor Jesus never so much as hinted that

they didn't need to keep the Sabbath or that they should somehow worship on a different

day.

We also noted that the religious leaders of the day, they hated Jesus and wanted Him dead.

They undermined what was most important in the law of God.

They also added many meticulous rules, regulations and traditions to the Sabbath commandment.

So many that trying to keep it as they demanded became a tremendous burden for people rather

than the blessing God had intended it to be.

It was in this setting that Jesus gives the true purpose of the Sabbath.

He said, "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath" (Mark 2:27).

Christ powerfully declared His authority to say how the Sabbath should be observed right

in the next verse: "Therefore, the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath" (Mark 2:28).

The importance of this statement might get away from us at first glance.

But examining what Jesus really taught reveals the significance.

Jesus Christ takes His rightful place as the One who gave the law of the Sabbath.

Did you know that He is the One who created the Sabbath by resting on it at the very beginning?

(Genesis 2:3).

No wonder Jesus said "the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath" because "all

things were made through Him."

John 1:3

That left us with a question.

Why would Jesus do away with something that He had personally created for the benefit

of every human being?

Christ was saying that He gave the law to man in the first place, so He knows why it

was commanded and how it was intended to be observed.

When He spoke, it was from the authority He inherently possessed as the great Lawgiver.

Doesn't it make sense that Jesus would not annul or do away with His own law?

As we were concluding our conversation, we took note of the unity between the Old Testament

and the New Testament in the Bible.

At the beginning, Jesus created the Sabbath and gave the commandments.

When the Church began, Paul taught that we must obey.

"For not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the

law will be justified" (Romans 2:13).

Then, toward the end of the Bible some 60 years after the death of Christ, the apostle

John was inspired to write about it as well.

He answered the question, were the Ten Commandments abolished?

Are Christians expected to keep the commandments?

Here's what's recorded for us all: "Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep

His commandments.

He who says, 'I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the

truth is not in him'" (1 John 2:3-4).

That's a forceful statement.

That's one that's emphasized right to the final chapters of the Bible.

Notice what's found at the very end of Scripture.

In Revelation 12:17 it says, true Christians are described as "those who keep the commandments

of God and the faith of Jesus."

No doubt, faith and observing God's commandments go hand in hand.

In His final message in the very last chapter of the Bible, Jesus Christ once again emphasized

the law.

"Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according

to his work…Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right

to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city" (Revelation 22:12-14).

The Bible itself concludes with an emphasis on obeying the commandments of God and the

rewards that come with obedience.

As we were concluding our discussion I wondered if I helped her to realize that Jesus didn't

abolish the Law but came to give it its true meaning, showing the spiritual intent.

I think my friend began to more deeply see Christ's example and the importance of obeying

God's law today.

Our conversation, made me once again appreciate the wonderful truth of God.

How much do you appreciate that Jesus took the list of our sins and blotted them out?

How much do you appreciate that we can be forgiven?

Do you appreciate that we have the opportunity to show ourselves as true followers of Christ

by obeying and upholding God's law and the understanding that assembling together, worshipping

together, must honor Jesus as Lord of the Sabbath?

I prayed she could see the importance of God's commandments today.

It is biblical fact.

There is great blessing for those who do His commandments.

It is a serious mistake to think that Jesus annulled the instruction of the Old Testament,

especially regarding the Ten Commandments.

The biblical truth is that Jesus not only faithfully obeyed all the commandments but

taught His disciples to obey them.

In my trip to the thrift shop I learned more than the fact that "one man's trash is

another man's treasure."

It made me think of the ultimate treasure.

That plaque with the 10 Commandments engraved on it reminded me that God has given all of

us the treasure of His law.

Even though it was a bargain, selling for just a buck, that certainly didn't reflect

the true value of its meaning.

How can you set a price tag on the Law of God?

Well, in a way you can by following the example of Christ.

We can by our actions, we can declare that God's law is priceless to us.

He doesn't want us to obey Him just because we have to or just because the price is right.

He wants us to obey because we love Him and we love His commandments.

Christ stressed how important that is.

He said, "He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me.

And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to

him" (John 14:21).

Jesus holds us as Christians to a higher standard of conduct than simply following the letter

of the law.

He expects us to live by its full spiritual intent.

He upheld the Old Testament as God's inspired Word and the keeping of the commandments remain

a requirement for Christians today.

That's our program.

Thanks for joining me.
