Foam Rolling Routine with Lauren Roxburgh to Relieve Jet Lag | goop - Duration: 5:27.
Hey everyone! It's Lauren Roxburgh here,
and I'm sharing with you today my Aligned Life Travel Roller Sequence.
We're gonna do some moves that will help boost
lymphatic drainage, keep circulation up, especially if you're flying a lot, you're driving a lot.
So we're gonna use the travel roller and get started.
So we're gonna start with the shin roll here. Place the roller underneath right below
your knee joints here. And you're gonna really flex those feet back, so you're
stretching out your plantar fascia here. 'Cause the shins tend to get very stagnant,
and you get that lymphatic sort of tension down in the lower legs,
especially after flying, and then you're just gonna roll through the connective
tissue of your shins here. Inhale. You're gonna roll back up to right below your
knee joints and then exhale. We're gonna just draw the roller in towards you
using your core. We're working the arms a little bit here.
And last one. Inhale and exhale. Perfect.
And now we're going to take your left
foot forward and your right leg back, and we're going to roll just the right shin here.
So you're twisting slightly to the right, and you're just gonna roll up and
down that nice juicy part of your shin, and this is gonna bring in circulation
and blood flow. Also, open the front of the right hip.
Then we're gonna switch — bring your right leg forward left leg back.
Open the front of that left hip,
point the toe and roll up to right below the knee joint, dropping the
shoulders down, aligning the spine, aligning the hips,
bringing in that circulation to the lower legs.
Now we're going to do the calf roll, so we're going to do a single leg calf first.
Bend your left leg, shoulders back, place your fingertips reaching forward.
And point your toes forward, and then flex as your roll up.
And then render the other side.
And then we can do both.
Okay, you want to engage your core, engage your arms
and then roll.
And then turn those legs out a little bit, and then turn them in.
Perfect.
Then we're going to go upside down and invert. So you want to have the roller
right at the base of your tailbone. Make sure your lower back is an arch and your
abs are pulled in. Bring your legs up, we're going to do little double leg circles.
Inhale. Exhale as you circle it around,
engaging the side belly.
And then we're gonna do figure four circles inverted.
Then I want you to cross your right leg over your left.
Okay, and then we're just gonna do a little circle here — around.
This is great to free up the lower back of any tension in the
sacrum from flying, being in those small seats, sleeping in weird beds with weird pillows.
And then switch — and breathing.
This is great to do before you're going out for a night on the town
and you just want to get glowing and stand up nice and tall
and just feel energized too.
That's it, perfect. And then we're going to come up,
bring the roller out, and then we're going to place it under your upper middle back.
Okay, right at the bra line, feet are hip-width apart, hands go behind
the head, lift the hips and then we're gonna do the upper back roll.
This roller angle is quite different feeling than the big roller, so I think you guys
will like how nice this feels.
Like someone's knuckles are just going down your shoulder blades.
Inhale as you bring your elbows together. Elbows go wide as you exhale.
Two more. Each time you're gonna feel a little more hydration and a little less stress.
Good. Now bring the roller — keep it right in that middle back,
keeping the hips down on the mat. Inhale. We're gonna arch back to open up the
diaphragm and the lungs.
So big inhale, fill up your lungs.
Now exhale. I call this the flat belly breath, so you're going to come up,
steam up a window, pull that belly in. Inhale, go back, exhale.
Again this is going to just energize you, refresh you, activate your core,
and improve your posture.
Two more.
Belly draws in, wring out the organs.
Last one, inhale back, and exhale.
Curl — coming all the way up.
And that is the refreshing and energizing travel sequence.
Thanks for rolling with me.

Queer Halloween | Queer History - Duration: 3:34.
It's HALLOWEEN!
Hello, I'm Rogan and welcome. How could I not do a video about the Queer Holiday™?
I'm going to hand this over to someone who probably knows this better than I do.
Hello there, I'm Hades. Nice to meet you. *eyebrow waggle*
Now… Where did Rogan leave off?
Oh yes, Samhain. All Hallows Eve. Halloween (three different signs).
Of course, it didn't start out as our night but we converted it and it's been ours for the last 40 years or so.
I think it should've happened much earlier personally.
It's only getting more queer!
Halloween in the US has long been a day where people can dress up however they want with no judgment.
Let's go back in time and learn some things.
In 1912, on Halloween in Pittsburgh, men and women were arrested for cross-dressing.
In the next couple of years, cross-dressing had become so prevalent, police in Pittsburgh announced that
they wouldn't make any more arrests for cross-dressing on Halloween only.
An annual costume contest at Cliff's Variety Store in the Castro started in 1948.
In the 1970s, the Castro was home to many men who had recently moved there then they started coming out.
Drag queens started entering the costume contest at Cliff's.
That contest was stopped in 1979, because the Castro was no longer home to families, but did the party end?
Of course not!
The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a group of people who use drag and religious imagery as a form
of activism, took over the celebrations and continued them until a tragic shooting in 2006.
At the same time the drag queens took over Halloween in San Francisco,
there was another queer Halloween makeover happening in New York.
Ralph Lee, a New York puppeteer, started off the first Village Halloween parade in 1974 which turned into
the nation's first official pride parade and has since become the largest Halloween parade in the world.
All of this contributed to Halloween becoming the (un)official holiday of the queers.
It's the one day of the year where people can go all out and do whatever they want,
be as queer or camp as they want.
With straight and cis people taking on drag personas, going camp on this one day,
it changes things for queer people.
This is an opportunity for some people to experiment with gender variance,
and discover things about themselves without much judgment.
Freedom of expression comes above all else, allowing us to be truly ourselves.
And that is a history of queer Halloween.
Thank you Hades for that education. How do you feel about Halloween?
If you like it, what's your favorite thing about it? Are you dressing up? Let Hades and I know in the comments!

The Mediterranean takes migrants, brings back bodies - Duration: 1:38.
The Mediterranean is one of the world's
most visible migrant crossings.
The U.N. tally focuses mostly
on the migrants headed across the sea
to Europe.
But even here, cases go
uncounted. As European governments
try to stop new waves of migrants,
some are turning
to more dangerous routes northward.
Life and Death can come down
to a gut feeling.
Take Mounir Aguida.
This is the beach in Tunisia where he
and his friends have tried more than once
to leave for Europe.
Mounir made it once to Italy
but he was expelled.
Like other young men
and women in Tunisia,
he longs to return.
In August
2018, he tried again. Cramming into
a raft with seven friends.
At the last minute, he
and another young man jumped out.
He said, "It didn't feel right."
There has been no word from the others.
They are not counted in any toll.

Choosing the best vehicle for your teen - Duration: 4:00.
Narrator >> When it comes time for a teenager to
start driving, buying a safe new car isn't always in the budget for many families.
Instead, teens often end up with inexpensive or hand-me-down vehicles
that run the gamut on safety.
But safety is especially important for teenagers.
They're among the riskiest drivers, and they have much higher crash rates than adults.
So to help families find a safe and affordable vehicle, we've created a
list of recommended used vehicles for teens.
It follows a few basic principles:
Young drivers and high horsepower don't mix.
Although these vehicles may be appealing...
Teen 1 >> I like power, fast cars.
Teen 2 >> Fun car to drive.
Teen 3 >> Like those really fancy sports cars.
Teen 4 >> Any Lamborghini would be fine.
Narrator >> ...testing the limits of a powerful engine can
be too tempting for teens.
Size matters.
Bigger, heavier vehicles are safer.
They offer better protection in a crash.
Stay away from mini cars or small cars.
Teen 5 >> I would prefer like the bigger cars because I just feel like there's less
chance of me getting hurt in crashes.
Teen 6 >> I think the bigger the better because if
you do get into an accident I would rather have more protection around me.
Teen 7 >> If you think about it, a little car versus a big car, like,
a little car is not going to win.
Narrator >> Electronic Stability Control, or ESC, is a must.
This technology helps drivers maintain control on curves and slippery roads and
has been required on new vehicles since 2012.
Finally, seek out a vehicle with the highest crash test ratings you can afford.
IIHS rates vehicles good, acceptable, marginal or poor in front,
side, rollover, and head restraint tests.
And the government uses a star rating system.
Vehicles with good crash test ratings offer the best protection in a crash.
These four principles drive the criteria for the Institute's list.
The list is broken down into two tiers of safe and affordable vehicles.
"Best Choices" start under $20,000 and offer the highest crash test ratings.
This tier also takes insurance losses into account and doesn't include any vehicles
with substantially higher than average injury losses.
If budget is still a concern, "Good Choices" start under ten thousand dollars.
These vehicles are still safe for your teen but get good ratings in
fewer of our crash tests.
Before purchasing a used vehicle, make sure to
enter its VIN at the government's website to check for any recalls.
If you're planning ahead and buying a new family vehicle that might one day belong
to a young driver, consider a Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+.
In addition to good crash test ratings, these vehicles
have front crash prevention and good or acceptable rated headlights - features that can be valuable
for inexperienced drivers but hard to find in a used vehicle.
Teen 1 >> I just want a big car that's strong,
keeps me safe.
Teen 8 >> Just having a car that is sturdy, I guess, and not made for
looks or power.
Teen 9 >> something that's safe and something that's not too expensive.
Teen 4 >> I just feel like when it comes to crashes
it's more safe in a bigger car.
Teen 8 >> Just something that can get me around and
keep me safe, which I think is kind of what every parent really wants for their kids.
Narrator>> For more information on the list of current
recommended vehicles please visit our website at www.iihs.org
