[REVIEW] Call of Cthulhu - The Videogame: Yes or Not? - Duration: 10:32.
Let's talk about myths, let's talk about horror and talk about one of the most anticipated video games of 2018!
We are the D20 Nation and this is our review of Call Of Chtulu, the videogame.
Based on role-playing games that bear the same name and inspired by the wonderful works of H.P Lovecraft,
the Cyanide Studio and the Focus Home Interactive have "summoned" the best from the lovecraftian's literature
strongly respecting the expected standards .
We played it in preview , we lived it and above all ...
we made a steep descent towards the madness that the creators of this game wanted to tell.
Call of Chtulu aims to combine horror dynamics together with highly accentuated investigative aspects and to combine them
with mechanics typical of classic role players, catapulting the player into a spiral of events
that will lead him to seriously doubt his mental lucidity.
In Call of Chtulu we will follow the story of Edward Pierce, veteran of the First World War
with symptoms of post-traumatic stress and now private investigator.
The events took place in 1924, when he was subjected to a disturbing case
that sees the murder of an entire family known as the Hawkins
We will therefore be traveling to the charming island of Darkwater
(a reassuring name, do not you find?)
Just south of Boston, to shed light on the issue.
We have shot long or in the available locations of the island, which, by the way,
is the most horrible city hole in which an unfortunate private investigator could be.
Friendly people, unforgettable scenery and above all clean streets!
Good! These things you surely WILL NOT find in Darkwater!
One of the strengths that can be traced right away in the game is how the context prizes curiosity.
In fact, the investigation is a very central point of the game world and those who
know the writings of Lovecraft, will find very pleasant the importance given to such mechanics.
These dynamics are also influenced (and above all) by the feeling that the inhabitants of Darkwater transmit
each of them, in fact, seems to hide something, to hide unspeakable secrets that would push the player
to analyze all the available lines of dialogue, and then painting a real personal investigation.
Every detail is important to the resolution of the case and such details are mixed perfectly with the narrative
that seems very much like those of Lovecraft.
The narration, in fact, appears very slow from the beginning (typical flow of the author)
and then takes an unexpected surge as soon as the first hint of pure madness comes out.
There are many points that have left us speechless when we came into contact with the various scenes
that have put a strain on our "sanity".
In fact, the players will feel masters of the story and then discover that all their theories
have been questioned by a single detail: the unexpected horror.
Needless to say that, in some moments, we are LITTERALLY jumped off the chair for the fear
and from the vision of "unspeakable" atrocities that have upset, beyond the protagonist ... us too!
It is easy, for the mortals of the Lovecraft worlds, not to believe in pagan superstitions
or unknown cults and here this feeling is resumed in the best way.
The concerning mechanics of "mental health" appears to be thorough, well thought out and especially appropriate
to the terrifying visions in which Pierce will meet.
summarizing in a simple menu, the most frightening and incisive events
experienced by the player and the effects they have had on his psyche.
Our level of sanity, which can only increase if we see things that actually appear disturbing to our character,
could also affect our options for dialogue and interaction with the various NPCs
Within the game menu we can also find the mechanics that can be linked to the "Call of Chtulhu" roleplay game edition.
Skill tree is the fulcrum that allows us to give our investigator
very different nuances between them and that will affect not only the lines of dialogue
but also on the details that the character will notice and on the deductions he makes during his investigations.
Particular attention then, gives to some skills that can not be increased through the classic system of leveling
Occultism and Medicine; these two skills allow the player a different approach
to strange situations and allow to find alternative ways to otherwise unexplained events.
So we come to the real investigation, which on Call of Chtulhu
is mainly represented by the RECONSTRUCTION MODE.
In this way the player can enter into a sort of mental reflection of what Pierce sees and focuses
actions, voices, objects and deductions can be reconstructed
based on a mix of visual and auditory attention that involves the player
and that the latter can increase to bring new evidence and clues to light.
There are many ways to achieve a goal and it is not limited to forced roads
that force the investigative experience to the usual annoying "straight way".
The investigation walks step by step with the strong presence of a narration functional and fluent
although some Lovecraft fans could consider very classic the events related to case of Darkwater
in our opinion is one of the most fascinating and engaging story told in a videogame, of the last years.
From this it is clear how the development team has taken into great consideration the Lovecraftian literature
and how it nourishes a deep knowledge of the issues that affect both the role-playing game
based on the homonymous world and the thought of the "solitaire of Providence".
The plot reflects a marked sense of the unknown through even minor goals
and enigmatic characters from disturbing traits.
Call of Chtulhu , in this sense, is defined as an absolutely symbolic game
perfectly in line with the Lovecraft style of horror, of the unknown and of madness.
However, we must oppose harsh criticism regarding what concerns the technical sector.
The graphics left us a little perplexed; in fact, wandering here and there
in the various areas of the Darkwater streets, we often come across low quality textures
animations a bit too mechanical that distort the fluidity of the narration
and particle effects that leave a lot to be desired.
Of course, we are far from triple A production like The Witcher or Assassin's Creed
that resume qualitative technical standards much higher
but the charm of Call of Chtulhu shows up against the current, symbolic and elegant
we would almost say ... not suitable for everyone.
The game, therefore, was affected by the production time that has been postponed several times.
and that probably had been designed to be commercialized a few years ago
But all in all, the bad graphics are something we can forgive.
The investigator, is primarily (and is essential to keep this in mind for the duration of the game ) a human;
full of fear, trauma and phobias
Just as in the Lovecraft's works, here the human being is the last of the thoughts of the creatures
that devour this world and, as such him, is weak and frail.
This is outlined by the many purely stealth sessions that we should face to escape the horrors
of the mysteries of Darkwater and the impossibility of fighting against what the character most fears.
During the game, for example, in the part that will see the Sanatorium as a place of action
(and in many others) we will find ourselves wandering without an indicator of direction
fearing also the possibility of going crazy for fear or being the victim of crazy hallucinations.
Everything is embellished by the sounds that we found simply sublime
and able to engage in moments of suspense as only a few other games have been able to do.
The icing on the cake are the quotes and references that the creators wanted to include in the game
and that Lovecraft's fans will surely appreciate; you can find ironical phrases like:
get the Steam trophies that recall the titles of the most famous writings, such as THE WHITE SHIP
and who knows ... maybe come in contact with some iconic object from the world of Lovecraft.
We will not tell you of course anything about the ending but we can reveal to you that there is not only one
and this is determined by many factors, first of all the mental health accumulated during the game.
It is usually within the author's universe to gain conclusions based on occult discoveries
or simply what is ignored.
In Call of Chtulhu this will actually take place, giving the player a final worthy of his choices.
We strongly recommend Call of Cthulhu to Lovecraft fans and, in general, to fans of the horror genre.
The work is artistically sublime and able to give deep and pungent emotions
managing to convey anxiety and the primordial fear of the unknown.
As already mentioned, the game has a strong soul, however,
if players look for a flawless technical work, they may be disappointed.
For those looking for a horror-psychological work,
Darkwater is the right place!
That said, our review of Call of Chtulu end here and wish you a nice holiday pleasure
on the island of Darkwater, where you expect good food, good people and a lot of madness in season!

It's almost like homemade adjika (a spicy sauce, used primarily in Caucuses region)
I'll also put chicken hearts here
Take this
Dad, how many hearts does a chicken have?
One heart just like humans
Feed the kittens
Add the rest of the marinade sauce
And stir it nicely
We'll leave it to marinate
And prepare our smoker

#BRIC18 guest workout from RowingWOD - Duration: 8:08.
hello it's cam here from RowingWOD and today something quite special we're
going to go through a workout with something in mind towards the end of the
year as you may or may not know the British Rowing Indoor championships are
back and they're here in December the event was fantastic last year
there's team events there's a sprint event but there's also the Blue Ribbon
2k 2,000 meters for time is the Olympic distance and any rower whether on the
machine or on the water always knows what their 2k time is so if you are
entering at the British Rowing Indoor Championships this year I will highly
recommend just seeing where you are and doing that 2k pitting yourself against
the best in the country and sometimes even the best in the world today go
workout for you and it's quite a simple one but there's quite a lot of stuff
going on behind it I want to talk through the workout in a minute and
specifically what you should be paying attention to as you go through it and
just before you attack the workout what we do with this workout is figure out
where you are and I'll explain about that in a minute and then try and plot a
pathway to give you the fastest - K towards the end of the year at the
Indoor Championships so let's look at the workout it's really straight forward
four rounds of a 500 meter interval with one minute rest between easy however
what we want to look at first of all is what are you trying to do with this I
want you to go from A to B as fast as you possibly can so that means that you
should have your best time across all four intervals and your fastest average
speed or your average split or your average wattage whatever that average it
is across all four intervals that's what we're after doesn't matter about the
rate so whether it's high rate up to 30 to 34 strokes a minute medium rate
whatever works best for you to give you the best
speed I want you to also use the interval rest wisely so there's only a
minute there it's not enough time to fully recover but it is enough time just
to loosen up those soft tissues it's also enough time just have a quick swig
of water and to mentally refocus now let's talk about the warm-up for this
even though it's quite a short workout you should be spending a bit of time on
the warmup so the first thing that I like to do is
to ensure that the body is prepared for growing mobility wise so the three main
culprits thoracic spine hamstrings and hip flexors make sure you've got good
range of motion there if you want to hit a foam roller and get that thoracic
spine moving do that if you want to just make sure that those hip flexors are
moving nicely you've got that good pelvic Rock over with a hamstring
flexibility then do that spend a good ten fifteen minutes on this making sure
that your body's primed remember that rowing movement is not that common for
the human body and so we need especially people who are new to the machine we
need to prime it ready to go so once you've done that I'd like you just to do
a bit of a general warmup depending on how you're feeling on the
day a minute or maybe a minute and half maybe even two minutes of low-level work
just getting that metabolic system working and then just in dispersed back
with some rest 30 seconds a minute may be working is that kind of one-to-one
work to rest ratio and just until you feel quite sweaty until you further your
breathing and the engine is just starting to get going next I want you to
look at some more specific intensity so if you started at the low rate I want
you to build up the rate to where you probably do this workout so maybe moving
through the gears but 10 or 15 strokes getting up to that race rate so whether
that's twenty eight strokes a minute or thirty two strokes a minute whatever
you're going to do in the workout you should be stein build there lastly just
do a couple practice starts very important for this workout is that only
the first interval is done as a standing start with the machine stop the handles
stop so you can a few practice starts maybe five strokes
and nothing more than that just to figure out what you're gonna be doing in
that first interval then if you wanted you don't feel quite ready enough you
can go and do another birds just back down at race pace and then you should be
rarely go take a couple two three minutes of rest to make sure you're nice
and cleared from all that metabolic stress just getting your head in a good
headspace and then attack the workout so pacing what we want to do is I said
first interval off the start nice and fast getting into a really high pace but
you want to be finishing that first 500 meters not with a big sprint start at
the end but rather is a nice high level race pace so you rose through the line
then intervals two and three that middle thousand of the 2k I want you to first
have the Machine already working so it should be spinning along as the rest
goes from 3 to 1 and then 500 pings up again so get that machine working and
try and hit a nice high pace through the middle 2 & 3 500 meter intervals finally
the last 500 meters again starting with the wheel moving and then you can add on
that last 250 300 meter big sprint Shriner add as much pace as you possibly
can and really make sure that you should row through the line so wait until the
meters are completely gone before you stop throwing good as a rough rule of
thumb where do I start if you've never done this workout before you can use
your 2k as a bit of a guide so here's a bit of a trick between 10 or 12 splits
sorry 10 or 12 seconds faster than your toupee split so 10 seconds faster is two
and a half splits quicker than you give you an example if I was doing a
two-minute pace two and a half splits quicker would be
150 seven and a half if I was doing a 1:40 pace 137
would be to the hospice quicker so roughly 10 or 12 seconds per two K
faster for this workout than your actual 2k if you've got no idea what your two
playtime is that's totally cool as well just try and place this workout to get
the best score from A to B so first meter all the way until the last meter
of that your total 2,000 and just see where you are and we can use that as a
guide later on in the training phase so to recap for 500 meter intervals with
one-minute rest in between you can program the monitor so it's set
automatically for you which is great warm up appropriately get the body
moving get the engines whirring and then dialing what kind of pace you're gonna
do for the workout pacing make sure you don't go off too hard but also make sure
you don't leave everything for the last 100 meters and speed don't worry if
you've not done one before this will be your benchmark happy days but if you
have done a 2k just keep your mind maybe 10 or 12 seconds faster than what you
would do for a 2k is what you roughly want to be aiming for for this workout
finally make sure you signed up for the British Rowing Indoor Championships I
think it's going to be a fantastic event if you haven't doubled in a 2k before I
highly recommend it it's fantastic and we can't wait to see you and all over
the community there at the event enjoy the workout check us out on the RowingWOD website
and we'll see you there enjoy

5 choses à savoir sur les comètes | Vraiment Top | tfo | Apprendre | Documentaire - Duration: 2:20.
- (narrators): Really great!
- (narrator): The comets
are small celestial bodies
older than the planets,
older than the sun and
much older than you.
- (astronaut): Hey! I am not
not so old!
- (narrator): Heading on the
top 5 on comets. No5.
The comets orbit around
of the sun. Their orbit is
however very form
lengthened, so that
comets pass close enough
of the sun ...
- Bye!
- (narrator): ... for next
disappear to the confines of our
solar system. We lose them
then from sight during
dozens, if not thousands
years, and then ... one day ...
- Hey! You took some time
to come back!
- (narrator): No4. Comets
have a beautiful trail
behind them. When they get
find at the ends of our
solar system, a comet
looks like a big ball of
ice and dust.
- Not very impressive.
- (narrator): But when
approaches the sun, its surface
warms up and the ice gets
turns into gas! That is what
creates his great trail
light.
- Magnificent!
- (narrator): She can
easily reach
tens of millions of
kilometer. No3. Some
comets are as old as
our solar system.
- You mean as old as
4.6 billion years?
- (narrator): Yes. They
would come from the cloud of Oort,
a huge reservoir of
comets that is very far away
of the sun and that surrounds
this one. This zone would start
at about 1000 times the distance
Earth-Sun, would finish at
2 light years. No2. The
comets could explain the
life on Earth. When
creation of our planet,
billion comets would
collided with it.
As they are usually
made of ice, it is believed
that their residues could have given
birth to the first oceans. Of
more, we find on some
comets organic matter.
Comets are so maybe
at the origin of life on
our planet.
- Would that make us
aliens?
- (narrator): Number one. They
are very often responsible
shooting stars.
- Oh! We make a wish!
- (narrator): The dust
lost by a comet get
spread along the orbit
of it, forming a vast
cloud. When the land goes through
this cloud, this dust is
consume in our atmosphere
by emitting a brief light.
We then see a rain
shooting stars.
- (astronaut): Oh! Make a
wish! Make a wish! Spread
a wish! Make a wish! Make a
wish! Make a wish! Spread
a wish! Make a wish!
- (narrator): Shut up,
please.
