Indian state will pay farmers to go 100% organic and GMO-free

Is India on its way to becoming an entirely organic nation?

Just over two years ago, in September 2014, the Indian Government launched their revolutionary

Rastriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (National Agriculture Development Program) as a way to encourage

organic farming, and decrease dependence on chemical agents.

In January 2015, the state of Sikkim was declared as the country�s first 100 percent organic

state.

Sikkim produces 800,000 tons of organic produce that�s free of harmful pesticides, chemical

fertilizers and toxic GMOs � accounting for roughly 65 percent of India�s total

organic produce yields.

The western Indian state of Rajasthan launched plans for dedicating thousands of hectares

of land for the farming of organic pulses just a few months later.

Their effort seeks to combat the rampant protein malnutrition, and the unsustainable practice

of chemical fertilizer-based farming.

Another western Indian state now also seeks to join in.

Goa has also recently announced that they will be looking to reduce the use of chemical

fertilizers and pesticides, and is also seeking to go 100 percent organic.

The State Department of Agriculture has launched a state sector plan titled, �Assistance

for use of organic inputs by the farmer.�

Ulhas Pai Kakode, Director of Agriculture, commented, �This is the first step we have

taken in the direction of organic farming in the state.

Hopefully, more and more farmers should adopt the practice of organic farming after availing

this scheme.�

Under this new plan, farmers can receive significant assistance from the government when it comes

to obtaining organic agricultural inputs, such as organic fertilizers and bio-pesticides.

Up to 50 percent of the tab will picked up by the state government, but there will be

some limitations.

AnonHQ explains that these benefits will be limited to 10,000 Indian Rupees (INR) per

hectare with a maximum of up to two hectares , or INR 20,000 per beneficiary for all categories

of farmers on the use of organic inputs.

Farmers with plots as small as 0.1 hectare will be considered eligible for the program

� which will also help to keep the tradition of small-scale ingidenous farming alive and

well.

Organic farming is nothing new; its a tradition that has sadly been overtaken by overzealous

coroporations.

In India, organic farming has been practiced since ancient times and once ensured quality

food for consumers.

The recent resurgence of organic farming in India, however, is largely due to the increasing

demand for organic products in Western nations.

The organic food and fiber market is growing at an incredibly rapid pace, with some estimates

suggesting that the market is expanding by up to 25 to 30 percent.

A study by ASSOCHAM, which stands for The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry

of India, suggests that the organic food market in India will reach $1.36 billion by the year

2020.

The study also suggested that organic farming efforts short focus largely on pulses and

grains.

The exponential growth of the organic market has even led food manufacturers in the United

States to pay their farmers to make the switch to organic practices.

In the US alone, sales in organic marketplace expanded by about 11 percent � reaching

a whopping $43.3 billion last year � equalling about four times the growth in sales of food

products, overall.

Organic farming in India is also expected to continue to grow, especially as the government

continues to financially support organic farming endeavors.

Increased awareness and availability of organic foods has also greatly contributed to the

sucess of organic food.

Additionally, the rise in health consciousness and healthier lifestyle changes have also

played a significant role in the growth and demand of organic foods.

turned to unproductive conversation real quick

I eventually just left um probably for the best

she was really depressed I really wanted to be here for her but

you can't get hurt over that though I mean you got to give me a break

you guys had me on a timer yeah it wasn't going anywhere so I wake up this

morning to a text from him oh god oh god I bet this will be good tell me girl

tell me what it's a girl Tammy would I'd check it said verbatim thank you for not

breaking up with me last night I couldn't see myself able to live if we

were together and I'm and like I don't know if I should read that into that or

not thank you serious as Jeff said that before it's probably just odd probably

just talking it probably is just talk Solly's Eric talk right it's nudge on

the screen here I don't know it still terrifies me uh did you say anything

back have you told anyone you should definitely tell someone have you told

anyone about it because if he is having those kind of thoughts and he needs to

get help for sure if it's legit if it's not it's probably not but it's like oh

no only you I don't know what to do like I don't want to be with him but I don't

want anything bad to happen to them don't worry it'll be okay I promise

it'll be okay don't worry here we'll get over it and even if he doesn't it's his

choice it's his choice you can't you can't clean on somebody like that and I

feel helpless and pathetic and now I'm starting to cry you're not pathetic and

talking because I'm a friend but not Evelyn apparently what do you think

about all this uh he's bluffing to keep you around it's normal not the one I

heard I think he's just bluffing to keep you around

you two together which a lot of high schoolers do not gonna lie they do they

do date what should I do about him saying he couldn't live without me

I need to tell someone talk to him better just ignore him

I won't talk to about it I would try talking to him about it first be like

hey you can't say that as verbal abuse borderline verbal abuse it pretty much

is honestly yes it's there it's like manipulation what should I say to him

if you break up life goes on and then it's not okay again that it's not okay

to say that it's definitely not okay save stuff like that

especially if you don't mean it because there's people out there who really do

mean stuff like that when they say it okay I think we can talk about that and

what should I do about us breaking up go over and talk to him again

you should definitely face-to-face talk to them and make it very clear that you

guys are broken up very clear if you really want to break out with it will

that work what should I say the relationships require two people you're

not happy and you're done even if he isn't just saved that you're not happy

with them yeah and that you don't see it working I mean it's true right you're

not happy with them if you are happy with them then you wouldn't want to

break up with them okay I'll do that and tell you how it goes

Are You Really Intersectional? | #SpinaBifida - Duration: 2:27.

Hey everyone, welcome to #SpinaBifida.

My neighbors are making a lot of noise today so

so if you hear any background stuff, I apologize.

I just wanted to make a really quick video

this kinda goes more towards organizations

that preach equality, the preach intersectionality,

but don't include disability.

Pride just happened, I think it's still going on today?

As this video comes up.

Pride is going on, the Resist march was yesterday.

I saw a lot of my disabled community

especially my disabled community in the LGBT community

speak about how disability is not included

in these kinds of protests or

Pride marches and it's just kinda frustrating.

Because we preach all the time that disability is in every intersection

you could possibly think of.

Uh even with the resist march they tweeted a slightly ableist

tweet and I called them out on it and

even in their photos they listed all the things

they stood for yet disability rights wasn't a part of it.

So this message is kinda for these kinds of organizations.

That preach being inclusive, you need to include disability

as something you're standing up for, that you're fighting for.

Because shocker, there are disabled queer people, there are

disabled trans people, there are disabled people of color,

there is disabled women, disabled men, disabled non-binary.

There's disability in every kind of identity.

And so make an effort to include us.

I mean we can get into some of these marches

how they're not disability friendly

which don't allow us to participate.

But that's a whole other topic and I don't feel like getting into it.

This video is kind of ranty but it's

just if you're going to start an organization, if you are

working for Pride or the resist march or any of

these organizations that stand up for oppressed groups,

please keep disability in mind, please add disability

to your slogans, to your posters

Anything! Because we are here.

It frustrated me seeing a lot of my disabled friends

who are part of the LGBT community

feel so left out in a lot of aspects.

Um, even in the resist march.

Add disability because if you don't include us

then are you really intersectional?
