Waching daily Jun 26 2017

Hi. This is Marty from Blue Lightning TV.

I'm going to show you how to create the retro look of a video glitch portrait

on a CRT green, monochrome monitor.

Open a sharp, close-up photo of someone that you'd like to use for this project.

I downloaded this one from Shutterstock.

The first step is to separate your subject from its background by making a selection

around your subject.

There are many ways to do this, but for this example, I'll use the Quick Selection Tool.

If you're using this tool, as well, drag it over your subject to select it.

If you need to remove areas of the selection outside your subject, press and hold Alt or

Option as you drag over those areas.

I did an in-depth tutorial on the Quick Selection Tool, so if you'd like to watch it, I provided

its link in my video's description below.

Once your subject is selected, click the Layer Mask icon to make a layer mask next to it.

Make a new layer below it, by Ctrl-clicking or Cmd-clicking the New Layer icon.

We'll fill the empty layer will a dark green color.

Click your foreground color and in the Color Picker's hexadecimal field, type in: 001D0D.

Then, click OK or press Enter or Return.

Our foreground color is now the color we just typed in.

To fill the empty layer with the foreground color, press Alt or Option + Delete.

Next, we'll colorize our subject.

Make your subject active and click the Adjustment Layer icon.

Click, "Hue / Saturation".

We want to restrict the adjustment layer to affect only our subject and not the dark green layer.

To do this, we need to clip the adjustment layer to our subject.

Either click the Clipping Mask icon or press Ctrl + Alt + G on Windows or Cmd + Option + G on a Mac.

Check "Colorize".

The Hue is 147, the Saturation is 25 and the Lightness is 0.

Next, we'll convert our image into a Smart Object, so we can modify it nondestructively.

To do this, Shift-click the bottom layer to make all the layer active and click the icon

at the upper, right corner of the Layers panel.

Click "Convert to Smart object.

Next, we'll crop our image to a specific size and resolution to ensure that your final effect

will look similar to mine.

Open your Crop Tool.

In the Width field, type in 1920 px for pixels and in the Height field, type in 1080 px.

For its Resolution, type in 150 pixels per inch.

The effect will look best when your subject's face is filling most of the document, so go

to a corner and drag it in until your subject's face is filling most of the Crop's bounding box.

To reposition it, just drag it.

Then, press Enter or Return.

To fit your image back onto the canvas, press Ctrl or Cmd + 0.

We'll make 4 copies of it by pressing Ctrl or Cmd + J four times.

Name the top layer, "Wave 3, the second layer, "Wave 2" and the third layer, "Wave 1".

Name the next layer, "Pointilize" and the bottom layer, "Base".

Scroll to the top and make the top layer active.

We'll make a new layer above it, by clicking the New Layer icon.

Name it, "Scan Lines".

We'll fill it the empty layer with 50% grey.

To do this, open your Fill window by pressing Shift + the F5 key at the top of your keyboard.

In the fly-out list, pick "50% grey and click OK or press Enter or Return.

Presently, our foreground color is dark green.

We want to make it black, while keeping our background color white.

The quickest way to do this is to press the "D" key on your keyboard to make your foreground

and background colors black and white, respectively.

Go to Filter and Filter Gallery.

In the "Sketch" folder, click, "Halftone Pattern".

The Pattern Type is "Line", the Size is 2 and the Contrast is 50.

Then, click OK.

Convert it to a Smart Object and change its Blend Mode to "Overlay".

Our scan lines are a little too sharp, so to soften them, go to Filter, Blur and Gaussian Blur.

Blur it 1 pixel and click OK.

Let's collapse the Smart filter to save space in the Layers panel.

Make "Wave 2" active and hide "Wave 3".

Go to Filter, Distort and Wave.

The Number of Generators is 2, the Wavelength is 193 and 445, the Amplitude is 1 and 256

and the Scale is 100%.

The Type is "Sine" and the Undefined Areas is "Repeat Edge Pixels".

Then, click OK.

Keep in mind, because it's a Smart Filter, we can change or adjust its settings at any time.

Make the Wave filter active and open your "Rectangular Marquee Tool".

Make sure the "Add to Selection" icon is active.

To give us more room for the next step, let's zoom out of our document.

Press Ctrl or Cmd and the minus key on your keyboard.

Drag your tool over your subject to create rectangular selections of various widths.

We'll fill the selections with black and since black is our foreground color, press Alt or Option + Delete.

Notice our Wave filter's layer mask filled with black over the selected areas.

Think of layer masks as stencils.

The white areas reveal the image associated with it, while the black areas hides those

areas, revealing the layer under it.

Deselect it by pressing Ctrl or Cmd + D. Reduce the opacity to 30%.

Let's collapse the Smart filter to save space.

Make "Wave 3" visible and active.

Go back to Filter, Distort and Wave.

Make the Number of Generators: 1, the Wavelength: 1 and 17 and the Amplitude: 1 and 114.

Then, click OK.

As before, drag your Rectangular Marquee Tool over sections of your image.

Click the Layer Mask icon to make a layer mask of the selections.

Click the chain-link to unlink the layer and the layer mask.

Doing this allows us to move or resize either of them independantly of the other.

Click the layer to make it active and press "v" to open your Move Tool.

We'll slide the layer a little to the left by pressing the Left arrow on our keyboard a few times.

Let's collapse the Smart Filter.

Make a copy of the layer and reduce its opacity to 20%.

Then, press Enter or Return.

Press the right arrow on your keyboard a few times to move the layer to the right.

Scroll to the bottom of the Layers panel and make "Wave 1" active.

Change its Blend Mode to "Lighten".

Go to Filter, Distort and Wave.

Make the Number of Generators: 999, the Wavelength: 205 and 248 and the Amplitude: 1 and 2.

Make the Wave layer mask active and press "M" on your keyboard to open back your Marquee Tool.

Drag the tool across to make a relatively narrow shape and fill it with black.

Then, deselect it.

Invert yout layer mask by pressing Ctrl or Cmd + I.

If you'd like to reposition the layer, open your Move Tool and drag it.

Scroll to the bottom of the Layers panel and make the "Pointilize" layer active.

Change its Blend Mode to "Luminosity".

Go to Filter, Pixelate and Pointilize.

Make the Cell Size: 5 and click OK or press Enter or Return.

If you want to hide some of these pointilize sections, make the Smart Filter active,

open back your Rectangular marquee Tool and drag a selection over the areas you'd like to hide.

Fill it with black and deselect it.

Remember, you can adjust, move or change the Smart Filters to get a combination of effects

that works for your particular subject.

This is Marty from Blue Lightning TV.

Thanks for watching.

Trump "Simply Does Not Care" About AIDS - Duration: 6:10.

THE PRESIDENTIAL ADVISORY COUNCIL ON HIV AND AIDS JUST

EXPERIENCED A MASS RESIGNATION, WITH SIX MEMBERS LEAVING DUE TO,

IN THEIR WORDS, DONALD TRUMP'S COMPLETE LACK OF INTEREST IN THE

TOPIC.

THEY WROTE A LETTER WHICH IS AVAILABLE VIA NEWSWEEK, I

WANT TO READ A COUPLE SECTIONS, IT GETS INTO A TOPIC THAT EVEN

ON SHOWS LIKE THIS DOESN'T RECEIVE ITS DUE TIME.

THEY SAID

--

>>THERE ARE A NUMBER OF POLICIES YOU COULD PERHAPS THINK

THEY ARE INDICATING THERE, I WOULD SAY THAT THE HEALTHCARE

BILL IS PROBABLY A LARGE ONE CONSIDERING THE EFFECT OF

MEDICAID SPENDING FOR THOSE SEEKING TREATMENT.

THEY GO ON TO

SAY --

>>-- THAT SEEMS PRETTY DAMNING BY ITSELF.

THEY GO ON TO SAY --

>>THAT IS A

DAMNING LETTER.

AND THEY DIDN'T JUST WRITE THIS IN

PROTEST, THEY RESIGNED.

SIX PEOPLE.

>>AMAZING TO SEE WE WILL BE MORE EFFECTIVE FROM THE OUTSIDE.

>>THAN ADVISING THE PRESIDENT.

>>YES, YOU WOULD THINK ADVISING THE PRESIDENT WOULD BE THE

MORE EFFECTIVE WAY OF ADVOCATING.

INCREDIBLE.

>>IT GOES WITH EVERYTHING WE THINK WE KNOW ABOUT THIS

ADMINISTRATION.

I THINK THAT LETTER WAS RIGHT ON, I DON'T

THINK THEY ARE LISTENING OR IN ANY WAY CONCERNED WITH THIS

COMMUNITY THAT HAS HIV, AIDS, OR IS DEALING WITH IT IN ANY WAY.

THEY ARE RIGHT.

AS EFFED UP AS IT IS, THEY MIGHT BE MORE EFFECTIVE IN TERMS

OF CREATING A PUBLIC OUTCRY FROM THE OUTSIDE.

>>OUTLETS WON'T TALK MUCH ABOUT THIS OR COVER IT AT ALL, AND IF

TRUMPCARE GOES INTO EFFECT AND THEORETICALLY IF A LOT OF PEOPLE

WHO ARE GETTING THEIR TREATMENTS THROUGH THE FUNDING THAT WAS

PREVIOUSLY AVAILABLE BUT MIGHT NOT IN THE FUTURE, THOSE PEOPLE

COULD THEORETICALLY DIE UNNECESSARILY.

THANKFULLY THERE

ARE PRINCIPLED PEOPLE STANDING UP FOR THEM NOW PERHAPS THE ONLY

WAY THEY CAN, THROUGH RESIGNATION AND GOING TO WORK

FOR OTHER ORGANIZATIONS, BUT NONE OF THIS NEEDED TO HAPPEN.

THESE WERE ORGANIZATIONS THAT WERE WORKING PREVIOUSLY, THERE

WAS A STRATEGY, AND THERE HAD BEEN SOME SUCCESS, INSTANCES OF

INFECTION HAD GONE DOWN, THERE WAS SOME PROGRESS BEING MADE

THAT UNFORTUNATELY COULD BE REVERSED TO LETHAL EFFECT FOR

MANY AMERICANS.

AND JUST TO UPDATE YOU, BECAUSE IT'S

POSSIBLE THAT YOU, LIKE ME, KNEW MORE ABOUT THIS EPIDEMIC WHEN IT

WAS SCARIER, THEORETICALLY, AT A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE UNFORTUNATELY

MOVED ON AND DON'T PAY AS MUCH ATTENTION --

>>I BELIEVE THAT IS THE MOST

RECENT YEAR THEY HAVE DATA FOR.

THAT IS DOWN, STILL STRUGGLING WITH THIS, AND MANY WILL

OBVIOUSLY FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIFE.

SO TO HAVE AN

ADMINISTRATION THAT -- I'M NOT SAYING HE NEEDS TO GO TO

THE MEETINGS EVERY DAY, BUT YOU COULD AT LEAST APPOINT

SOMEONE TO THE POSITION WHO WILL FIGHT FOR THESE PEOPLE.

>>UNFORTUNATELY THAT IS JUST ONE OF THE MANY POSITIONS HE

HASN'T FILLED.

PEOPLE POINTED OUT IN THE WAKE OF THE DESTROYER

CRASH THAT WE WERE TALKING ABOUT THAT THERE ARE A NUMBER OF

HIGH-PROFILE -- I THINK MAYBE SECRETARY OF THE NAVY, THERE

MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN A NOMINATION YET.

I BELIEVE AMBASSADOR TO

JAPAN HASN'T CURRENTLY BEEN PUT INTO EFFECT --

>>THEY HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO DECIDE WHICH DONOR SHOULD GET

THAT AMBASSADORSHIP.

>>SOME OF THOSE AMBASSADORSHIPS ARE CEREMONIAL.

CAROLINE KENNEDY

WAS THE AMBASSADOR TO JAPAN, THERE ARE CEREMONIAL ONES.

BUT

IT IS THE SUBSTANTIVE ONES -- WHEN THERE IS A BOMBING IN

MANCHESTER AND WE DON'T HAVE A HEAD OF THE FBI TO HELP

COORDINATE WITH OUR ALLIES, THINGS LIKE THAT ARE SO

EMBARRASSING.

>>IF THE EBOLA CRISIS HAPPENED THIS YEAR, WOULD THERE BE ANYONE

IN TRUMP'S ADMINISTRATION WHO KNEW A DAMN ABOUT EBOLA?

WHETHER

WE DISAGREE ON THE POLICIES, AT LEAST YOU HAD A DESIRE FOR

COMPETENCE IN THE ADMINISTRATION.

IN SOME CASES

BRINGING IN PEOPLE THAT HAVE EXPERTISE, LIKE FROM WALL

STREET, I DON'T NECESSARILY AGREE WITH THEY DO WITH THAT

EXPERTISE, BUT THERE WAS A RECOGNITION OF THE IMPORTANCE OF

THE POSITIONS, A DESIRE TO FOR THEM TO BE HELD IN A WAY THAT

WON'T LEAVE PEOPLE SUFFERING AND DYING.

AND THERE'S A COMPLETE

LACK OF INTEREST.

THIS IS A GUY WHO CAN'T STAFF SOMETHING LIKE

78 MAJOR POSITIONS IN THE PENTAGON, AND HE WATCHES FOUR OR

FIVE HOURS A DAY OF CABLE NEWS?

>>WE ARE HEADING INTO HURRICANE SEASON, FOREST FIRE SEASON, WE

DON'T HAVE A FEMA DIRECTOR.

>>WHAT IF PORTUGAL HAD HAPPENED HERE?

>>AND THERE ISN'T A SCIENTIST ALLOWED ANYWHERE NEAR THE

WHITE HOUSE, OR SCIENTIFIC MIND.

THEY STOPPED THEM AT THE MAIN GATE AS THOUGH THEY ARE

GUYS WITH HANDGUNS.

THEY WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH SCIENTISTS.

>>IF

THEY WERE GUYS WITH HANDGUNS THEY WOULD SAY COME ON IN.

>>BAD EXAMPLE.

Spamming Firecrystals | Miner's Haven - Roblox [Turn on Subtitles] - Duration: 3:47.

Hey guys! Welcome to Miner's Haven again.

Today is a different video because as the title said. We are going to spam firecrystal

And I'm going to use the cell paricalizer.

This cost 2 sx and its worth it if you have the industrial firecrystal mine

Industrial Firecrystal Mine plus a lot of coal mines will definitely satisfy you because you're going to see how much you'll get from this mine.

But you need to reborn to get this but its common so don't worry

What you have to worry about is the lag

This music kinda fits this scene and its in the description. Its one of my favorites

I have a lot of triple coal mines. Its about 22? but you can still add more with normal coal mines or more triple coal mines but triple coal mines cost uC so just spend your money to normal ones

Conveyors doesn't matter because you can pick whether you want really fast ones or normal ones but today I'm using the military grade ones.

So just watch because while subtitling this I'm playing Phantom Forces but you guys don't want to watch anymore.

Done

The problem with this cell furnace and this setup is some of the firecrystals are not getting sold so that is the reason why I need to spam it.

And it gives you a maximum of Qn to Sx

And you can get lag

I have some faster conveyors but they are too big.

Like this one

See its very fast but its tricky to deposit ore.

This one could work but I only have a few of them.

That is all for this setup

Now I'm going to reborn and see what I get and I hope its a nature's grip or any furnace

I have 392 sx and its going to disappear so as the cell particalizer.

-_-

Desenmascarando gigantes: LÁCTEOS - Duration: 5:34.

It would be really weird to see a 40 years old man

being breastfed by his mother

but it would be totally normal to see him

drinking a glass of milk

However... I'm about to tell you that

is exactly the same.

To explain this I'm going to start from the very beginning

What is "milk"?

By definition, milk is:

The liquid secreted by the breasts of

female mammals to feed their young

From our own experience,

we know that is the first food

that we consume when we are born.

The hormone "prolactin" helps the process.

Nutrients from the blood are taken and transformed in milk.

This only happens when a woman was recently pregnant.

For example,

Right now I wouldn't be able to take milk from my breast

because I wasn't pregnant

This hormone works until the baby grows

Then the mother doesn't produces more milk

And, at the same time, the baby loses 90 - 95% of

an enzime, named "lactase",

used to digest sugar in milk (lactose).

In brief, a mother has milk ONLY

when she has a baby to feed him.

When he grows up, he can't digest milk well.

The END.

If you are an adult

You don't need milk.

This is applied to all mammals.

Humans,

Cats,

Dogs,

Cows.

Whhhatttt??

Cows?

But cows produce milk all year round!

You never went to a supermarket?

Listen carefully

Because I'm going to tell you a horror story.

As I explained before, to produce milk constantly

mammals need to have babies constantly.

Therefore, the Dairy Industry

RAPES the cows

inseminating them artificially

by putting a tube with semen.

there.

Nine months pass and the cow has her baby

but when she wants to consume her mother's milk,

like any baby...

she is brutally separated.

Baby from mom.

Because, OF COURSE,

That milk is for us.

If it's a male he is sent to the veal industry.

He will stay in space extremely small

to prevent any movement

to avoid muscle development

to have "tender" meat.

If it's a female she will face the same exploitation

that her mother faced.

For years and years

until she gets so abused

that she is completely useless to the industry

and they kill her.

So the Dairy Industry is connected

with the Meat Industry

If you consume dairy

you are supporting animal slaughter

Imagine that this happens to YOU

You get pregnant,

After 9 months

After creating that unique connection

with your baby

They take him away from you

within hours.

They separate you

And you don't see him ever again.

Then, they get you pregnant again,

and again,

again, again, and again

Until your body is so exploited

that they don't need you anymore

so they kill you.

Now let's dispel the "farms" myth .

Because

No.

Your milk does not come from a farm

in which cows are jumping in green grass

with a "happy farmer" that milks them.

Machines do.

Machines automatically suck the udders

Fast and hard

Causing injuries,

infections,

Pus and blood

The machine keeps sucking and those go to "your" milk

When you drink milk

infections, pus and blood = milk

One glass of milk can contain

180 million white blood cells or pus cells

Also, the traitement of the cows is unacceptable

There, they are objects,

not living beings.

They don't have name, just a number

They work, work and work

It reminds me something that happened centuries ago

The question now is

Why do we drink milk from cow

instead of another species?

It would be more reasonable

for example,

if we needed to,

drink milk from a monkey

that shares 99% of our ADN

Instead of a cow that is not that similar.

There is no reason other than the fact that

cows are easily controlled

and produce huge amounts of milk

If they tried to do this with tigers, I'm sure that

a lot of workers will die in the effort.

Is calcium!

Calcium!

Calcium!

Milk has calcium

People need calcium

They put it in such a way that the consumer

will think that milk is a good source of calcium

But then why the top 5 countries consuming milk

are the same with the worst bone health and with osteoporosis?

When we consume milk, since it has animal protein,

our blood gets acidic

Our system then takes calcium from our bones

To neutralize this acidic environment.

When you consume milk,

or any animal protein,

You are taking away calcium from your own bones.

Milk isn't a well absorbed source of calcium.

However there are many alternatives

that have calcium that your body can absorb without side effects.

In the other hand, cows are injected with a hormone (rBGH)

to produce 10% more milk.

Milk, in its own,

Even if is "organic"

"Free range"

Whatever...

Marketing that they put in the face of the product.

Milk has hormones!

As I explained before,

because is to grow a 90 lbs calf to a 2000 lbs cow

When you are an adult you don't need more hormones to grow.

Therefore, the hormones from milk

look for something to do

so if they find a cancer cell

they might act in this cell by making it GROW.

In other words,

Milk = cancer growth

Prostate cancer, breast cancer,

According to many doctors like

Thousand and thousands... a lot of doctors that say this.

It's not about public health anymore.

It's to sell as much as they can.

It became an additive that they have to put in almost

EVERYTHING.

They put it with different names to confuse you

but milk is still there.

But... If it's so bad for our health

Why are they encouraging us to drink it?

If they know everything about it...

About the doctors, the studies...

I'm going to explain this in my next video.

The reality of the Dairy Industry.

The Chicken Coup: OF WEASELS AND CHICKENS Episode Five - Duration: 5:19.

Are you sure they won't -

Shh!

Alright, buddy-

ahh, just look at them. Sitting there plumply,

just dying to die.

Ahh. When we jump down, we distract them.

Okay?

What?

Jump down?

Like on three

AAAHHHHH

No! Don't get distracted!

Activate Weasel Destruction Protocol One!

Well, that's new.

Ah! Get your dirty paws off me!

Huh?

I don't wanna hurt you -

NO! (AHH!)

Hm.

Are my skills getting rusty?

No.

Prima, you're great.

Let's try a classic!

It's time for...

a massacre, though it sounds vernacular,

it's definitely not a job for the amateurs!

Slice those jugulars, don't make it lackluster,

leave some bodies for them scavengers!

Well, mark all your calendars, 'cause there's

gonna be a massacre!

A spectacular, high-caliber,

ma-ma-ma-ma-

massacre!

What the...?

Our work here is done!

Shoo!

Oop, time for a speedy exit.

Help!

See ya, buddy.

Wouldn't wanna be ya.

I'm the only hope we have for the people

unless you want the Elders and their weasel!

All hail king Peepenstock!

My first command as king is to burn every inanimate object the weasel ever touched and replace it with new.

Erase the trace of the one that did not belong!

All who were ever touched by the one that didn't belong shall take a bath in Cleansing Water.

Erase his trace until all of him is gone!

And all that ever pitied, took care of, or was anything but discriminating towards the one that didn't belong

shall be sentenced to a Trial. Until then, they will be jailed.

Come this way, we'll lead them to their cells!

But no! Before issuing a Command, the First Elder has to consult with the other Elders and we all have to vote on it.

For the First Elder is still an Elder, no matter how much power he holds.

Ah, but my friend - I, Floorf Peepenstock,

am First Elder no longer.

With the Elders all Disgraced, I am left

the sole king of the Haven!

And all who question the king shall be Trialled and jailed as well!

Lesbian & Bi Women Fantasy Books - Duration: 5:46.

The other day, out of curiosity, I was looking at the videos on my channel that

are the most popular, and I was surprised to see that most of my videos that have

the most views are my lesbian book videos: Lesbian Summer Reads, My Favorite

Lesbian Young Adult Books, Lesbian Halloween Reads, and even the part of my

bookshelf tour where I specifically talk about my lesbian book collection. And

most of these are old videos with terrible thumbnails and, to be honest,

pretty questionable video quality. I then immediately it was like "Why does

this surprise me?" The reason I started booktube is because there are so few

queer booktube videos. And to be honest, that's still true. I still see very

little content about queer woman books on YouTube. While I think there's been a

big change in the book blogging world: I can pretty easily find a ton of posts

about queer books and queer book lists— there should always be more, but I think

it's definitely expanded. That content is still pretty few and far between on

YouTube. At the Lesbrary and on my tumblr I usually deal in very obscure or

specific requests about queer women books, or I point people towards

resources of lists of hundreds of books on more general topics, like young adult

books or mysteries. But I've realized that on booktube there's still a demand

for pretty basic videos about queer books. So today I thought I would talk

about queer woman in fantasy books. I don't consider myself an expert on

lesbian and bi women in fantasy, but I've definitely read quite a few that I

really like, so I thought I would share my favorites. The first one I want to

talk about is Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst. This is the queer YA fantasy

I've always dreamed of. It's about two princesses who fall in love, but it's

also about court intrigue, betrayal, and suppressed magical powers—as well as a

lot of horses. It's set in a world where as same-sex relationships aren't looked

down on. I completely fell in love with this book and I'm so glad that it's

around for queer teen girls today. And of course I can't have a queer fantasy list

without mentioning Shira Glassman and her Mangoverse books. Beginning with The

Second Mango, this is a series set in a Jewish fantasy world, and it includes a

whole range of diverse representation, including a demi-romantic character.

I've only read the first book so far, but I thought it was really fun, and I've

heard the series really improves from there, so I'm looking forward to continuing on

with that. Keeping in the classic fantasy vein, I really enjoyed Fire Logic by

Laurie Marks. This is another book set in a world without homophobia. It's also a

traveling/quest story, which I always really enjoy. I was a little bit

overwhelmed at first being thrown into this world, but I quickly acclimated and

ended up really enjoying it. And also these covers have gotten a new redesign

and they are beautiful. Kushiel's Dart by Jacqueline Carey is not what I would

call a light read: it's 900 pages packed with religion, politics, and hardcore BDSM

sex. It's tastefully done, I thought, but it's a big part of the novel. Phaedra is

a servant of Naamah: a sex worker, which is a profession that

is semi-spiritual and respected in this world. She uses this to glean political

information from her clients, which are both men and women. She does have more

relationships with men in the book, but I would argue that the most significant

relationship she has is with another woman. Another bisexual fantasy book, but

one that is set in our world, is Indigo Springs by A.M. Dellamonica. This is an

ecofantasy book about our world being contaminated with magic. We start the

book seeing the devastation that has happened because of this infestation of

magic, and then you kind of jump back in time to see what led up to it. This is

the sort of classic bisexual book trope of a love triangle with a male and

female love interest, but I thought it was pulled off pretty well in this one. I

will say that I didn't really enjoy the sequel, but I think this works pretty

well as a standalone. And then there's The Salt Roads by Nalo Hopkinson, who's one

of my favorite writers. Her books are always an experience to read. This story

bounces around different time periods, settings, and point-of-view characters,

who are all linked together through their relationship with this goddess. It

has a focus on racism, slavery, and colonialism, and also has several queer

characters. It isn't linear, so you are rocketed from place to place and jump

through time, but it's compelling and fascinating throughout. I'm going to

cheat and include another one of Nalo Hopkinson's books, just because I love her

writing so much. This collection isn't entirely queer, but the novella is, and

there are other queer stories that aren't about queer women. The novella, Ours

Is the Prettiest, is a Borderlands story, which means it shares the setting and

characters with other authors. It also has a really interesting look at this

queer community and the complex, multi-layered relationships that are

involved. And lastly, I really loved Everfair by Nisi Shawl. This is a steampunk,

alternate history of the Congo, which is why I picked it up, but although the

steampunk element is a little lighter than I was expecting, I was pleasantly

surprised to find that there are several queer point-of-view characters. This is a

really complex and thought-provoking read that offers a ton of different

perspectives on topics like war, colonialism, love, betrayal, and race. There

is a ton packed into this, so be prepared to really settle down and give it your

full attention. This is FAR from a complete list of queer women fantasy,

it's just some of the ones that I have enjoyed the most, but I'm not the most

well-read in this genre, so if you have recommendations that I missed, feel free

to leave a comment down below and let me know, because I'm always looking for more.

I'll also include a link to the Goodreads list of queer women fantasy

books, because there are tons and tons of them. I've just dipped my toes in. This

video is also kind of cribbing off a Book Riot article that I wrote, so I'll

link that down below if you want to check that out. And thank you for

watching!

"The Final Battle Deed"

Leaving these walls behind, We rushed forth together; With me was my troop, and we headed South as a group

All of us on horseback, our thoughts were all the same; United, we are all determined, paving the path to freedom is our goal

-But, Now I'm all alone, my comrades were all gone; Now North is where I head, even if it means leaving them behind

With the plan failing, our horses lost, I resorted to our primitive ways and dashed across the fields

I threw away my broken device, and relied solely on my trained legs

No matter how cruel this relentless world is, I will never give in!

What blessings did civilization give us?

I took up my blades, wielding them with a will to fight

With my weapons at the ready, In an eerie forest; I'm cloaked in shade, staying on my path towards the walls

My trembling hands held an old and warn notebook; whose pages record the truths I've discovered

Fear is always lurking, ready to bare its fangs,

Waiting hungrily for any sign of weakness

I took off yearning for freedom,

I will never give in!

Without any warning, a Titan appeared from behind the trees... But wait! It opened its mouth-

"People of Ymir... Ymir-Sama... Greetings..."

-And these words of meaning came out...

In it... I saw a spark of... intelligence...

Because of that, I thought that communication might be possible...

And so... I summoned my words... and asked...

A question where no answer was given... only its groaning resounded within the silent forest

I may be the first person to communicate with titans in the history of mankind...

But in reality, these thoughts held their limits in fantasy

This was... far too much to handle... and I simply snapped...

Without reason, all of my built up rage... was released when I yelled out "Begone from this world!"

A continuously changing situation, constantly fluctuating; My roars of anger ended, where am I heading to now?

Shadows begin to give chase, endless questions never ceasing; My mind cluttered with them, under these faraway skies

Turning my back on these crushed hopes, my wings flutter behind me

Taking off towards an uncertain tomorrow, I will never give i-

Everything was taken away from me,

The end will catch up to everyone...

No matter how meaningless existence is...

I kept on fighting until the end...

"Ah... I will never give in..."

"This is the final battle deed left behind by Ilse Langnar, who kept fighting until the very end..."
