Images of child abuse found in Vatican City

Holy Sees prosecutor general says two cases involving indecent material came to light

last year, along with other crimes

Two cases of child pornography possession were uncovered within the walls of the Vatican

last year, along with numerous other crimes in the city state, the Holy Sees prosecutor

general has announced.

Following worldwide allegations of sex abuse by priests, Gian Piero Milano, the Holy Sees

Promoter of Justice, said the Vatican was now taking action against paedophilia in the

heart of the Catholic church.

Unveiling the Vaticans justice report, Milano stopped short of naming those accused

of possessing child pornography.

Holy See spokesman Federico Lombardi however identified Josef Wesolowski, a disgraced former

ambassador, as one of the people facing charges.

Wesolowski was stripped of his diplomatic immunity last year following accusations that

he abused young boys during his time as envoy to the Dominican Republic.

The Polish former archbishop is currently awaiting trial at the Vatican, in what will

be the first sex abuse trial ever held at the Holy See.

Beyond the child pornography cases, Vatican authorities are battling an array of crimes

including drug trafficking and money laundering.

Three drug deliveries addressed to the Vatican were intercepted last year, including a packet

containing cocaine-filled condoms.

The drugs were discovered at Germanys Leipzig airport and handed to the Vatican in the hope

of ensnaring the buyer, but no one came forward to claim the package.

Despite the array of criminal activity, only six people ended up in the Vaticans prison

last year.

They include Marcello di Finizio, an Italian protester who climbed atop St Peters Basilica,

and Iana Azhdanova, a Femen activist who bared her breasts and grabbed a baby Jesus statue

from the Vaticans nativity scene.

Since youre here we have a small favour to ask.

More people are reading the Guardian than ever but advertising revenues across the media

are falling fast.

And unlike many news organisations, we havent put up a paywall we want to keep our journalism

as open as we can.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

The Guardians independent, investigative journalism takes a lot of time, money and

hard work to produce.

But we do it because we believe our perspective matters because it might well be your

perspective, too.

I appreciate there not being a paywall: it is more democratic for the media to be available

for all and not a commodity to be purchased by a few.

Im happy to make a contribution so others with less means still have access to information.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps to support it, our future would

be much more secure.

NASA Confirms: Marijuana Contains Alien DNA From Outside Of Our Solar System

If you have opened this article, and are currently reading this, you have participated in a social

experiment.

The fact that you are willing to take the time to read an article rather than just share

it based on its catchy headline says a lot about you, demonstrating that you swim against

the currents.

Curious about what we are referring to?

A study was conducted by The New York Times Customer Insight Group aiming to better understand

the psychology behind what motivates people to share content on social media.

When asked, just under half of the studys participants answered that they share information

on social media for the purpose of informing people and enriching those around them.

Interestingly enough, 68% of participants admitted that they share information to reinforce

and project a specific image of themselves.

As one study participant stated, I try to share only information that will reinforce

the image Id like to present: thoughtful, reasoned, kind, interested and passionate

about certain things.

Dont believe this to be true?

Last April, NPR shared an article on their Facebook page which was titled Why Doesnt

America Read Anymore? Interested in seeing how their audience would react, they then

sat back to see how many of their followers would happily like and share the article or

even go as far as sharing their opinions of the article based solely on the headline.

The truth?

Should a follower actually click on this article they would find that there actually was no

article!

Their results spoke for themselves!

Interested in this phenomenon, Forbes wrote their own article titled 59 Percent of

You Will Share This Article Without Even Reading It. Even with a title that so clearly states

the purpose of the article, they still found that a large portion of followers will respond

to the accusation, however

Discussing how this impacts the importance of an articles headline, the articles

author Jayson DeMers went on to say,

Whether youre enraged or amused at this modern social content phenomenon, it exists,

and youll have to take action to adapt to it.

The body copy of your content is still important, but these days, headlines are the true kings

of content.

Without a solid headline, youll have no chance of achieving meaningful social shares

and new visibility, so take your time polishing every word to absolute perfection.

Interested in whether this carries over to other social media platforms, a group of computer

scientists at Columbia University and the French National Institute analyzed the data

of over 2.8 million online news articles that had been shared on Twitter.

The results of their study indicated that up to 59% of links that Twitter users share

have never actually been clicked on.

The studys co-author Arnaud Legout explained, People are more willing to share an article

than read it.

This is typical of modern information consumption.

People form an opinion based on a summary, or a summary of summaries, without making

the effort to go deeper.

If you are one of the educated and motivated few, clicking through to read this article

 Congratulations!

While the title may be misleading, it illustrates a very important shift in societys online

habits!

Now it is your turn to enjoy sharing the article, and then sit back to see who will start an

in-depth conversation regarding the discussion of NASAs stance on marijuana genetics.

NOVIDADE no Canal! // NEWS (w/ ENGLISH SUBTITLES) - Duration: 2:36.

Hi guys!

I just wanted to quickly tell you some news

Which I think you may have already noticed

What it is

As you can see, I'm not speaking in English

And that's my news!

If you watched my last video

You may have also noticed that

I released my first video in Portuguese.

And I just wanted to let you know that from now on

This will me normal on my channel.

Nothing will change regarding my videos in English.

I'll continue to post in English as always.

But I will ALSO be posting my videos in Portuguese.

So they will be the same videos

But with a Portuguese voice over.

The videos in which I talk on camera in English

And I'm not able to record a second one in Portuguese

Then I will be subtitling them in Portuguese.

So from now on: every video that I release in English

Will either have Portuguese subtitles

Or there will be a Portuguese-dubbed version of the video itself.

And I hope you like this news!

I've always wanted to do this

But I've always doubted doing it, I'm not sure why

I've always worried if people would continue to support me

If I added a second language to the channel

And I decided that it was about time

I want to be able to share my videos in my own country

I don't live in Brazil

But I did live there for a big part of my life

And I wanted to be able to share my work

With my friends, my family

With followers that maybe don't speak English

It's something I've always wanted to do and thought "Why not?"

I thought that now would be a good time

I've been wanting to dedicate myself more to my videos

and to my channel

And I think this is a positive change for my channel

I hope you think so too

I hope you'll support me in this choice

Of now being a bilingual channel

And that's it! I don't want to talk too much

I don't want this video to be very long

And that's basically what I wanted to tell you guys.

So thank you so much for your support

Thank you to all the Brazilians who've supported me

Even without knowing I was Brazilian

I'm getting a lot of messages and comments

From a lot of Brazilians who didn't know I was Brazilian

If you look on my last video, you'll see the comments

And I'm having loads of fun reading these comments

But I want to thank all of you

Wether you're Brazilian or not

For your support

I hope that from now on

I can have a stronger bond with Brazil

And I think that's it

I just wanted to tell you really fast about this news

Kisses and I'll see you later!

- Wide to the port! Now! - Yeah!

Okay.

Billy! What's happening down there?

What?

I'm just gonna quietly snap your wrist, you little bitch.

Oh, no, no, no. Oh... Okay.

Billy Cranston

just knocked Colt Wallace out cold! Damn, Billy!

What happened? What happened?

- I didn't see it! - Hi, Billy.

Hey. Come on, come on.

- Am I crazy or this is crazy, right? - It's crazy.

We got hit by a train and we're standing here.

How is that possible?

I don't remember getting home from the mine at all.

I slept all day yesterday.

We gotta find Billy.

You know I wasn't trying to start any trouble or anything like that.

And I say, "Hey, man, look, I'm not a violent person.

But if you must come at me, come at me, bro."

- Sweet! - Yeah!

Boom! Down goes douchebag.

- Down goes... I... I can't say that word. - Billy.

Hey, Kimberly... Kimberly Hart.

We need to talk.

How... what?

- Since when does he know Kimberly Hart? - Billy's awesome.

Nice hair.

- Billy, look at me. - Huh?

Do you feel weird?

You mean like weirder than usual?

Yeah. Different.

Oh.

Listen, we know something happened up there, okay?

I'm not the same.

Me either. Oh! I'm strong.

- How strong? - Like, insanely strong.

I feel like we need to go back up there.

The counter's boiling.

We're going back today.

Amazing Aquanaut Sylvia Earle - Duration: 2:45.

I was listening to an episode of The Moth a few months ago, and heard a story told by

scientist Sylvia Earle.

She told the story of Tektite II, an underwater habitat where she lived for 2 weeks in 1970.

At the time she was a botanist, and passionate about seaweed.

I was intrigued, and was amazed at the work she has done in her life.

Sylvia Earle was born in New Jersey in 1935.

She got her bachelor's and master's from Florida State University, and her PhD from

Duke University.

She went on to do more amazing things than I can list, but I encourage you to check out

the sources in the description to learn more about Dr. Earle's amazing work.

What I was most fascinated by was Dr. Earle's time studying seaweed, as an aquanaut on an

all-female team of scientists.

She applied to the program while a research fellow at Harvard University, when she saw

an ad seeking participants for this "experiment."

Tektite II, the underwater habitat, was two 18 foot cylinders on the ocean floor, 50 feet

below the surface of Great Lameshur Bay in the Virgin Islands.

It is seen here before it was lowered into the water.

Aquanauts entered and exited the habitat by scuba diving to a hatch at its base.

Dr. Earle was part of a team of five women: four scientists and an engineer.

This was Sylvia Earle, Renate True, Ann Hartline, Aline Szmart and Margaret Lucas.

They spent almost two weeks living underwater, performing research and going on dives outside

of the habitat.

Two of the research projects, performed by True, Hartline and Szmart, involved studying

fish behavior.

Dr. Earle's project looked at the effects of pollution on coral reefs.

In addition to being a research mission, the stays in Tektite II functioned as a psychological

experiment.

NASA, as it explored the potential of space travel, wished to see how the confinement

and isolation of such a mission affected the aquanauts.

And while there were a total of 11 missions in the Tektite II habitat, the inaugural all-female

team received the most press.

The team also ate test space food created by SkyLab during their stay.

In an interview, engineer Peggy Lucas described described some of the dishes as "pretty

bad."

The Tektite missions were a fascinating endeavour in science, both as an experience living in

tight quarters, and for the oceanographic research that was performed on them.

As I mentioned, Dr. Earle's time on Tektite II was by no means her only or coolest achievement.

She is still doing amazing things today, including being President of Mission Blue, an organization

dedicated to exploring and protecting the ocean.

I've included a link to their website in the description.

I often discuss terrestrial plants, those that live on land, but aquatic plants need

our love and support too.

Thank you so much for watching.
