hello and welcome back to this MSI review with me BX3 DEELPE we're going to
check out the Z 270 gaming carbon Pro motherboard and the MSI NVIDIA GTX 1070
gaming X graphic card I'm just going to talk a little bit about the
specifications of the both components and then we are going to cut right to
the actual gaming testing where we have our overwatch player Ripper to check out
the actual performance of the 1070 and the Z 270 gaming carbon Pro motherboard
so first off the motherboard itself it has a lot of different kind of features
including nahimic 2 technology and audio boost 4 which will enhance your
experience while gaming on a audio level and it has VR boost and all the jazz
you can want from a pretty high tech motherboard it has a bunch of VR ready
USB outputs and it's pretty beasty to be honest and then we have the graphic
card it is a 1070 it's the kind of card that replaced the 970 if you guys
remember that if you want the best bang for buck kind of graphic card this is
definitely the card to go and buy with that being said let's cut over to Ripper
where he actually test the performance of the cards and we'll be back with a
more tech-savvy review of the components itself the first thing we did was to put
everything on the highest settings except anti-Aliasing just to figure out
how well this card would run at those settings the screen we are running the
game at is at 2k resolution running at a 165 Hertz refresh rate I currently play
on the 1070 on everything at max with Anti-Aliasing off and I can already see
an improvement between the 1060 and 1070 and that's a big improvement I'm
getting about 110 average FPS with the 1070 it don't feel a lot better
like it doesn't feel choppy at all really it does feel somewhat smooth
I would actually say that the 1070 so far has been really surprising I've been getting a lot
more FPS than I would imagine to get with it I personally think this is a
really good card I would by it myself really after a while we
change all the settings to Ripper's personal preference in order to notice
the difference in responsiveness input lag and overall a more general feel for
the game I'm using my settings right now the everything a low with the texture
quality on the high it's feeling a lot better than it usually does at my
computer at home getting around a 260 ish average frames and it feels really
smooth yeah I don't feel any input lag really it doesn't stutter at all
It does feel really nice just aiming and general especially Widowmaker right
now it just feels in general really nice if you're going to get this card you
can get it for both competitive and you can get it for just casual it doesn't
matter if you want to tweak it or not having everything at max it should
still be fine for competitive so I just tested the msi gtx 1070 and i'm
going to say I am surprised with the numbers I swapped over to the epic
setting preset in OverWatch and took off Anti-Aliasing I was getting about an
average of 100 110 fps considering the card it was not that bad
it was not feelings to choppy it was really just feeling nice to play with in my
opinion considering are used two GTX 780 Ti at home in an SLI
configuration tried it on my setting everything at low with high textures I
was getting a solid 270 average frames which was really a nice thing to have I was
expecting around 240 but getting 270 it was really good also it was on a 1440p
monitor so an 1080p monitor would get an average of 300 fps on those low settings
I wasn't noticing any input delay it was feeling really smooth the card was
performing just better than I expected to be honest I'm thinking about buying a
1070 just because of the sheer numbers I'm getting in game getting those
numbers on an 1440p monitor on a card like that is something I would probably
encourage everyone that has money and wants to upgrade just go with the 1070
because it has good value it has a lot of fps
and don't seem to have any problems with it if you tweak down the settings just
barely if you go from epic to maybe ultra you can get over 144 fps if you're
playing with the 1080p you don't even need to tweak them probably and you're
still getting those numbers you want on that 144 refresh rate monitor for
competitive gaming is really good for casual gaming it's really good I can't
really say anything more than it it's good as you can see Ripper is pretty
pleased with the products and we highly recommend it it will do the job if you
want to get into a competitive level of gaming or just enjoy visually pleasing
graphics on most games today and it will certainly run a lot of games to come in
the future so let's talk about the motherboard let's go in-depth on the
actual motherboards it has a very nice black finish and one thing I noticed
while reading up on the card is that they have something they call "steel armor" on
everything you have steel armor on the RAM ports you have steel armor on the
PCI Express ports you have steel armor on your m2 NVe hard-drive ports it's
pretty much steel armor all over the place and steel armor what that does it
ensures that you get the best performance of the different kind of
ports including the RAM slots where steel armor will avoid flexing of the
different kind of components including the PCI Express third-generation
ports as well as the audio interface so let's let's talk a little bit about that
different kind of ports that this card have you have the old-school kind of gaming
input where you can connect your old-school kind of gaming components and you
have USB 2.0 type-a connections here you have a DVI port here you have an
HDMI port here and also you have USB 3.1 type-c connector here and USB 3.1
second gen type-a connector here and you also have USB 3.1 type-a
first-generation ports right here you have a gaming LAN port and you have a
full kind of audio interface where you can get the most out of your sound
system if you want to connect a 7.1 speaker configuration to your
motherboard itself so speaking about the the audio interface here you have
something they call nahimic second generation it will ensure a lot of
different kind of features including a so-called D pop technology where you
won't get like the popping sound when you connect your inputs to the audio
interface we have a lot of different kind of features that you can enable on
a software level and it really works it does the job you are able to get the
most out of your gaming experience and also have an S/PDIF port right here you
have ddr4 type RAM slots that goes all the way up to three thousand eight
hundred megahertz and you have three PCI third generation x16 slots here here and
here where two of them have steel armor technology on them you have three PCI
Express third-generation x1 slot for m2 NVe brackets or capture cards or
dedicated sound cards if you have that and you have two M2 NVe hard-drive slots
here speaking about the two M2 NVe hard-drive slots
if you choose to use both slots in a PCI Express configuration you are not able
to use these two SATA connections because you have two SATA connections here
and you have four SATA connections here if you choose to use both
these slots you're not able to use these two SATA connections if you choose to use
an m2 hard-drive here in a PCI configuration you're able to use all six
of them so make sure that you connect your M2 NVe hard-drive in the correct
slot for the best performance for your hard-drives from a personal
recommendation if you have multiple M2 NVe hard-drives
connect one here and then use a PCI bracket to get the most out of your
drives so like I said you have six SATA connections here and also on the card
you have USB third generation type connections here and USB second
generation type connections here including on the card you have a bunch
of different fan headers one down here here here here here and here
with these two fan headers the motherboard itself will be able to
ensure that your fan goes quiet when they don't need to be performing and
since you have display outputs HDMI and DVI you can use the internal graphics on
your Intel processor and speaking of the processor it supports the latest
generation i7 six generation and seventh generation but it does not
support the i7 6800 or 6900 socket CPUs so make sure that you use the correct
CPU for this socket this is a 1151 type motherboard so of
course only the 1151 type CPUs are supported and the card itself is covered
in LED strips and you can control the LED lights with either the gaming app or
your cell phone where you can switch your LED lights on the go and make it
fit your personal theme for your computer both these products are VR
ready and what that means is that MSI included a second-generation USB 3.1
type-a connection here which will ensure you get the most power for your HTC vive
headset or your oculus or whatever you personally prefer so let's move on to
the graphic card itself the 1070 is a kind of like a go-to buy
graphic card it is beautiful and it will give you the best performance in most of
the games that are currently available pretty much every single game that is
currently available with some tweaking you are able to soar through every game
out there per date so the 1070 also comes packed with a bunch of different
features we can talk about the display inputs first it has three DisplayPort
inputs here here and here it has the HDMI input and it has a DVI input so you
are pretty much covered if you want to do multi display also the card has a
pretty beasty fan setup it has the MSI - Twin Frozr 6 technology and the fans are
pretty interesting to be honest it has two type of fans one regular type fan
and one a bit more angled type fan to ensure that the card gets the best
air flow out of the system this card has a lot of different kind of LED lights you
have LED lights on the top and the bottom and you have LED lights on the
actual logo itself you can change the light conditions in the MSI gaming app
on the desktop or your cell phone and it's pretty cool to make sure that it fits
your build kind of theme even though the card is pretty beasty it will only take
up two slots in your motherboard they've ensured that the heat pipes and
the fun configuration is pretty small and because of the Twin Frozr 6
technology you will still get pretty damn good airflow on your rig the heat
pipes itself is pretty beasty as you can see on the side here you got six heat
pipes going in on the top and you have four heat pipes going and on the bottom
and everything is spread out evenly so it will cover the most of
the heat pipe to make sure that you get a pretty cool product the card uses one 6 pin
power collection and one 8 pin power connection minimal requirements for this
graphic card is a 500 watt power supply and of course it's also sli ready and
the last thing I want to say about this product is that it also has a
backplate which is pretty cool if you want to run 2 cards in your motherboard
configuration you don't have to worry about the screws sticking up from the
bottom of the card to go into your fans like I said the card itself is VR ready
so they packed 8 gigabytes of gddr5 type memory on here and it has three
different kind of modes which you can switch on the go inside of the MSI
gaming app you have an overclock mode you have a silent mode and you have a
gaming mode so you're pretty much covered when it comes to VR and that was
it for this overview and review of the Z 270 gaming Carbon Pro and the 1070
gaming X graphic card like you saw on the gaming portion of things
these products are able to run whatever you throw at them at incredible speeds
and performance and to ensure you get the best competitive gaming experience
