It's me again with a new episode of "I'm turning into..."

A short disclaimer at the beginning:

This Video is not political in any way and does not say anything about whom I'm voting for.

Guess that's all.

My Name is Alicia Joe and today I'm turnig into Angela Merkel.

Nightcore - The Nightmare Academy [Lyrics] - Duration: 3:16.

You can't see everything.

I carelessly misplaced my soul.

The emptiness, it crushes my bones.

In my weakness I, I crumble.

I've fallen victim to my real world!

You can't see everything.

Where's my body?

I think I sank beneath it.

Dark and empty under the waves of blankets.

Every corner, bedsheets bear the edge of the earth.

To emptiness I feel somebody pulling me.

So swim before the current pulls you in.

Awaken my body.

It took my very last breath to run away from what's left.

I know it's a dream that we share.

At the end of the light I know there's safety.

There's safety in waking!

You can't see everything.

Where's my body?

I think I sank beneath it.

Dark and empty under the waves of blankets.

Every corner, bedsheets bear the edge of the earth.

To emptiness I feel somebody pulling me.

So swim before the current pulls you in.

Hang onto life on the other side to put your mind to rest.

When all the bodies collide in search of my own

This can't be how it will end End all alone.

Where's my body?

I think I sank beneath it.

Dark and empty under the waves of blankets.

Every corner, bedsheets bear the edge of the earth.

To emptiness I feel somebody pulling me.

So swim before the current pulls you in.

What you feel inside a hurricane - Duration: 5:27.

This picture is the only one I have left from a flood that happened in 99.

After our helicopter evacuation, we had to wait four days

for the water level to drop to access our home. What you see is

the beginning of the huge cleanup that lasted several months.

Since I experienced this, every flood in rich country

such as ours look the same. It's the same evacuation,

the same brownish water, the same helpless people and with .

amazing solidarity.

In poorer countries like India or Sierra Leone that are under water

theses days, of course, it's very different

But, there is a world of difference between the flood I experienced

because of a dyke failure and the ones in Texas with hurricane Harvey

or in the carribean and Florida with Irma. These hurricanes, not only do they bring floods,

tear up whole buildings along their path. And that, I've never experienced it.

I cannot comprehend how a wind can be strong enough to ruin

and flood whole cities. And that's what

I want to do with you today. I would like to realize how strong a hurricane

such as Harvey or Irma can be.

Hurricane are classified according to their wind speed on the

Saffir-Simpson scale (names of the creators) that goes from 1 to 5. This classification was

created as a mean of communication between meteorologist and the people

to inform us about an upcoming danger. Harvey was a 3-4 huricane

and Irma 4-5, the maximum.

At its worst, Irma produced wind speed of 250km/h with wind gust between 300-330km/h.

A high speed train ! If I were in front of the wind, what is the force I would feel ?

To make a really approximative calculus, I am going to consider that I am a cylinder

with only a half of it exposed to the wind. The force we are interested in

is the drag force that is defined as

½ times air volumic mass times the drag coefficient

(1.1 for a cylinder) times the exposed surface

times the wind speed squared.

If I take values for me, hence 1.71m high and 0.45m wide (approximatively), we get a force

of more than 5000N, hence about 500kg.

500 kg. This force right at me is 7 times bigger than the gravity

that holds me on earth. Facing this wind, my new gravity would be not

towards the earth anymore but towards the wind direction. We could walk on walls...

And that's for us! We are a small volume, we do not deflect the wind that much.

But for a house ?! The exposed surface is huge and we rapidly reach

inimaginable force values. The equivalent of 17 tons for a home

with an exposed surface of 10*4m, still with 300km/h winds.

17 tons. I wanted to realize what it meant... I don't think I can.

17 tons.

Ok but that's only an order of magnitude... higly simplified.

Because a house not only undergoes compression on one of its sides...

oh no. The house is also sucked by the wind. On one side, it pushes,

but on the other, the depression is as devasting.

You'll understand.

By blowing on the house, a depression is created that sucks the roof.

That's why we see many houses roofless. It's a combination

of the succion effect with a bad quality of connection between the roof

and the walls

Unfortunately, because of climate change, these climatic extremes

will not get better. You can find some links in the doobledoo if

you want to know more.

After the disaster, come the rebuilding. Thanks to previous hurricanes, researchers

could observe which houses resisted and why. They also build

small house model, such as this one, well... a little bit better than this one that they test in a wind tunnel

to see which design will resist best to extreme winds, even if,

at 300km/h, there is not a lot that can resist.

But they reached conclusion that we hopefully will see during the rebuilding.

Here's some of them.

U shaped or L shaped houses should be avoided as wind can rush into it

and prefer houses with a square base or hexagonal base or octogonal, the more sides the better.

The roof should have 4

slopes of 30 degrees. If there are overhangs for rain protection,

it should not be greater than 50cm long

as the wind can rush into it and use it as a lever to pull off the roof.

The roof has to be connected to the wall with good quality joints to prevent it

from flying away... which becomes a projectile.

These rules are not mind blowing (see what I did there?) but they can make a difference.

The scientific center in building techniques suggests a new design that

I have not seen anywhere yet and that consist in creating a chimney in the middle of the house to break

the depression, which is at its worst at the roof edges.

It also helps in reducing the succion effet by equilibrating

the pressure between the inside and the outside of the house.

That's it. I hope this video gave you an idea of the wind force extent,

even if we'll never be able to imagine it without experiencing it.

Good luck if you are affected by these events, and I'll see you next time.

Bye.

Papantonio's New Book "Law And Vengeance" – Life In The Legal Profession - Duration: 2:48.

Tell us about the introduction and the character of Gina.

Is there a Gina in your life?

Yeah, well Gina Romano was a composite I think of some of the best female trial lawyers that

I've worked against and with.

A female trial lawyer in this business is very difficult for them to get where they

need to go.

Many of them have far more talent than some of the male trial lawyers that receive all

the accolades.

It's been difficult for them to break into this business and it takes that Gina Romano

kind of personality and focus and tenacity to really accomplish what needs to be accomplished

as a very successful female trial lawyer.

I've had the benefit of ... All I do is my discipline is I'm a trial lawyer.

I try cases for other lawyers throughout the country.

I try the most complex cases in the country, and so I'm able to work across the table with

some of these incredibly talented female trial lawyers.

She's kind of a composite of all that.

Tell us, if you would, what is your thought on why you have such ... The novels have done

so well.

You obviously have touched a nerve, a desire for the American reading public to read your

material.

What's your success?

I think it's a voyeurism to some degree.

I know the first time I picked up a Grisham novel.

I was so captivated by kind of the look behind the curtain.

It's like you lift this big curtain and you see stuff that you ordinarily wouldn't see.

I think that's the appeal here.

When I look at the reviews, when I talk to people that have read the book and I try to

be as objective as I can.

I try to say, "What is it that really attracted them?"

John, people have a real interest.

They have kind of a voyeur's interest, both in the medical profession and in the legal

profession.

It's natural because there's so much conflict and there's so much drama that takes place.

Many times that conflict, that drama, has effected their lives.

It's effected their child or their spouse or somebody in their family.

These types of novels, I think, touch a lot of that because they either can see themselves

in a similar situation or they, in fact, have been in a similar situation.

I think it's that ability to relate and understand that this is the real thing.

It's not something that is just holy imaginary.

It actually comes from real life experience.

I think they connect with that.

Cassini's Infrared Saturn - Duration: 6:33.

TEXT ON SCREEN: NASA's Cassini spacecraft arrived at Saturn in 2004.

TEXT ON SCREEN: Cassini studied Saturn and its moons in the

infrared using its CIRS instrument.

TEXT ON SCREEN: CIRS is an infrared spectrometer built and

operated by NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center.

TEXT ON SCREEN: Here are some of Cassini CIRS' Greatest Hits.

TEXT: THE GREAT WHITE SPOT

So in 2010, there was a giant outburst in Saturn's northern

hemisphere.

A giant storm eruption occurred, and eventually this spread

around to encircle the entire globe at a latitude width about

the extent of North America.

Imaging first picked it up, and it was, it was massive.

From north to south it spanned about nine thousand miles.

CIRS saw temperature increase like we've never recorded

before.

CIRS, looking with its thermal infrared eyes, was able to see

two bright beacons of hotspot temperatures shining about 150

degrees brighter than the surroundings.

We, all of a sudden we had these two bright spots.

After a month or two they merged, which was kind of

curious, and then it persisted for another two years.

In fact, it persisted longer than the tropospheric storm.

Typically on Saturn these occur about every twenty to thirty

years, this is the sixth one that's been seen since 1876.

And Cassini was lucky enough to be there at the right place at

the right time to see this storm eruption.

TEXT: PAC-MAN MOONS

Mimas and Tethys are two of I believe the last count was about

sixty-two moons that Saturn has, and these are examples of these

icy satellites, two of Saturn's icy satellites.

When you just take images with Cassini they look normal.

With Mimas it looks like the Death Star, you know, and then

you superimpose the thermal maps from CIRS on it.

And when you superimpose the thermal maps, it looks like

Pac-Man.

Mimas was an example where we saw very warm temperatures

surrounding a very cold region, as if it was going to, you know,

chomp it up.

Turns out the explanation is kind of, is interesting.

The way these are created is due to their orbital orientation as

they go around Saturn.

They have a leading side, which is always towards the front of

its motion, and a trailing side.

And the leading side is intensely bombarded by radiation

from Saturn's magnetosphere.

So the high-energy particle bombardment is causing this

fluffy surface, this icy, fluffy surface, to be packed down to a

very hard, solid ice surface, and you're changing the way now

the surface can heat up and cool down over the course of a day

for these moons.

When we look at these in infrared we see a cooler region

on the leading hemisphere, and a warmer region surrounding it.

And this gives the exact appearance of these Pac-Man

features that we so know and love.

TEXT: ENCELADUS OCEAN

Enceladus is a very small, icy moon of Saturn.

It's about three hundred miles in diameter.

It's a moon that we weren't expecting to see a lot from, and

it's had a huge impact on the Saturn system.

Previously, we had hints that this moon may be active

stretching all the way back to the Voyager mission.

But when Cassini arrived, it was able to detect curtains of icy

material venting into space.

Then using the CIRS instrument, we were able to zoom in on the

south pole, and see the south pole was much warmer than we

expected.

The pattern of temperatures on Enceladus did not match a simple

inert body absorbing sunlight and reradiating it.

The question was what to make of all this.

The community decided it must be tidal friction, tidal heating,

as Enceladus orbits Saturn.

This tells us that Enceladus is being heated up by the action of

Saturn's gravity.

Inside Enceladus, we now know that there's a liquid water

ocean, and it's this ocean which is venting through these cracks

into space.

Throughout the mission, we've learned that it has a

subsurface, liquid-water environment.

And with NASA, when you see liquid water, it's "Follow the

water," because that's important for life.

TEXT: TARGETING TITAN

Titan was one of the major objectives of Cassini.

We knew from Voyager that Titan was an organic molecule

paradise, it just was filled with organic molecules.

But maybe one of the key things about Cassini was, instead of a

flyby past the Saturn system, Cassini hung around for thirteen

years.

And during that time, even though we were orbiting Saturn,

we flew by Titan a hundred and twenty-five times.

Titan, at visible wavelengths, looks like as everyone has seen,

a orange-y, hazy moon.

When Cassini was built, we put on spectrometers that could see

to longer wavelengths, outside of the eye's visible range.

And so we removed the veil of this smog, we peeled it back.

Lo and behold, we saw this amazing, very active surface.

River channels, and dunes, and we found polar lakes.

And we never saw this before because we couldn't penetrate

this very opaque, hazy atmosphere.

TEXT: A NEW HYDROCARBON

In 2013, we made a fascinating discovery about Titan's

atmosphere.

We discovered a new molecule, which hadn't been previously

detected.

And this is called propylene, and this molecule, on the Earth,

serves a variety of purposes.

In fact, it's one of the raw ingredients that we use to make

a type of hard rubbery plastic commonly known as Tupperware,

which we use in our lunchboxes.

And it was really incredible to find this molecule just floating

around in Titan's atmosphere.

Going all the way back to the Voyager mission 32 years

earlier, we'd seen a lighter molecule and a heavier molecule

in the same chemical family.

But there was a gap at a particular molecular mass, a

particular size of molecule that we just couldn't see anything

in.

So this discovery, using CIRS, filled in this puzzle piece,

which had been completely outstanding for about thirty-two

years.

TEXT: THE GRAND FINALE

Cassini's Grand Finale is now underway as we dive repeatedly

over the planet's north pole, and through the gap between the

planet and its innermost rings.

We're making gravity measurements and magnetic field

measurements, and this is information that we didn't get

earlier in the mission so in many ways it's like having a

whole new spacecraft mission.

Finally, on the very last orbit, Cassini will go closer to Saturn

and eventually burn up in its upper atmosphere.

The spacecraft will disintegrate and become a permanent part of

Saturn.

What's Actually the Plane of the Future - Duration: 10:18.

Supersonic speed, modular cabin design, all electric power, transparent cabin walls, pilotless

planes, personal jets for everyone—that all sounds great, but what's actually the

plane of the future.

In the next 15-20 years, what will be the next major aircraft release to make an impact

on the industry?

Well, it's not nearly as exciting as those concepts, at least for passengers.

More and more people travel by plane each year and the industry is only growing.

In recent years the Boeing 787 Dreamliner has made a significant impact on the airline

industry.

This relatively small, super-efficient, long range airplane has allowed for the advent

of long-haul budget airlines and for traditional airlines to open up long-haul routes between

smaller markets.

Now, the near-future of aviation has a lot to do with one decision Boeing made almost

a decade ago—a decision they've been regretting ever since.

In 1983 the first Boeing 757 entered into service with Eastern Airlines.

It was billed as a replacement to the successful 727 for popular shorter routes that needed

more seats than a 737.

At the time it was incredibly fuel efficient burning 40% less fuel per seat than its predecessor.

It sold well, but not phenomenally.

By the turn of the millennium about a thousand were made and sales were slowing rapidly so

Boeing pulled the plug on the aircraft's production in 2004.

But then, in 2007, the aircraft started to be used for something it wasn't intended

for—transatlantic service.

When the 757 was originally developed airlines weren't really allowed to fly twin-engine

aircraft over long stretches of ocean, but the regulations changed so airlines changed

how they used the plane.

With a range of well over 4,000 miles, the 757 can easily reach most destinations in

western Europe from the US east coast.

When operating a smaller plane, airlines are almost guaranteed that they can fill the seats

so they're almost guaranteed to make money.

So, instead of operating larger planes that might not fill up, airlines started flying

this single-aisle, twin-engine plane across the Atlantic.

The smaller size also allowed airlines to fly to smaller destinations with smaller demand.

United, for example, flies this plane on routes like New York to Shannon, Birmingham, Edinburgh,

Lisbon, and Stockholm.

At the same time, since the plane was originally developed for domestic routes, it can easily

be used for shorter domestic flights between transatlantic flights which leads to high

aircraft utilization—a key to profitability.

But these planes are getting old.

Some have been in service for well over 30 years and airlines need to retire them to

remain competitive both with passenger comfort and with aircraft efficiency and right now,

nobody really knows what's going to replace these aging 757's.

There's a huge gap in the market.

The biggest Boeing single aisle aircraft in production is the 737 Max 10 while the smallest

twin-aisle aircraft is the 787-8 Dreamliner.

In an all economy configuration the Max 10 carries 230 passengers while the Dreamliner

carries 359 passengers.

Meanwhile, the Max 10 can fly up to 3,700 miles while the Dreamliner can fly up to 8,300

miles.

At between 230 and 280 passengers and up to 4,000 nautical miles, the 757 perfectly fits

between the two sizes, but we need a plane of the future for this middle spot.

Neither Boeing or Airbus has officially announced plans for a middle of the market plane but

it's almost certain that the next entirely new plane to hit the market will be in this

sweet spot of size.

Boeing tried to hurriedly make a plane this size with the 737-MAX program but many traditional

airlines aren't buying it.

Budget airlines love using it to serve between the British Isles and US east coast, but the

largest 737-MAX can only fly up to 3,700 miles—only barely reaching continental Europe from New

York.

United, Delta, and American Airlines all want a longer-range and slightly larger plane for

their low-demand transatlantic routes.

So here's the good news: this plane is coming.

There have only been trickles of information, but we've all but confirmed that the Boeing

797 will be a brand new plane between the size of the 737 and the 787 and here's what

it will look like.

It will have between 225 and 260 seats and a range of just shy of 6,000 miles—enough

to get even to the American west coast from London.

While the increased range of the 737-Max planes is allowing transatlantic service from smaller

cities in the British Isles and American east coast, this 797 will open transatlantic service

from cities deeper into the continents along with replacing the aging 757s.

With super-efficient engines and composite design, it will be one of the most efficient

planes yet and further drive down the cost of hopping the pond.

Meanwhile, Airbus is doing nothing, because they already tried.

The Airbus a310 was exactly the size of this potential 797 but they only sold 250 of them.

It was likely before its time—airlines just didn't consider serving long-haul routes

between smaller markets at the time.

It's a newer concept.

Ironically, the best replacement for the Boeing 757 is actually an Airbus plane—the a321

neo long range—but this plane is a bit too small to serve as a true replacement.

It's more a temporary solution until Boeing releases their solution.

As of now the 797 would most likely enter service in 2025 so it will be a while until

we know which manufacturer chose correctly.

But what's next?

After completing their entire ranges of aircraft sizes, what will Boeing and Airbus make to

remain competitive?

Right now oil prices are low so there's less pressure to operate greener aircraft,

but most analysts predict a doubling of oil prices in the next 20-30 years with ever faster

increases after that.

The industry will need to adapt to stay alive against the potential future threat of high-speed

land-based transportation systems like hyperloop.

For that, electric is the answer.

Fuel is airlines' number one cost and cutting that out could make flying competitive in

price to taking the bus, but electric aircraft have their limitations.

Current batteries are heavy and electric engines are weak so electric aircraft are limited

in speed and range, but there's a place for that kind of aircraft—on regional routes.

Trains currently dominate the 200-400 mile transportation market.

Think DC to New York, Edinburgh to London, or Tokyo to Osaka.

There's just no way that the plane can beat the train in terms of price, convenience,

and time, but the electric aircraft has the potential to beat the train on the most important

of those three factors—price.

By offering a transportation option at roughly the same cost but significantly faster than

the bus, electric aircraft will have the potential to dominate the short-haul market because

on shorter routes, aircraft speed doesn't really matter.

On flights so short, aircraft barely get up to their top speeds.

Both British Airways and Flybe operate the Edinburgh to London Heathrow route, for example,

but British Airways uses a320 and 767 jets while Flybe uses Bombardier Dash 8 turboprops.

British Airways flies this route in an average 79 minutes while Flybe, with their slower

turboprop planes flies between Edinburgh and London Heathrow in a faster 73 minutes on

average.

British Airways' a320 has a top speed of 541 mph while Flybe's dash 8 has a top speed

of 370 miles per hour and yet the turboprop flies the route faster.

On such a short route, the low speed of an electric airplane wouldn't matter since

aircraft can't get up to speed and the dramatic cost reduction would make airplanes the absolute

dominant transportation method in short-haul markets.

Airbus is the current market leader in electric aircraft development with a goal to release

a hybrid commuter aircraft by 2030, but as the reality of a world without oil nears,

Boeing will likely start more serious development of an electric aircraft in the coming years.

None of this is to say that we will never see some of the more exciting future aircraft

concepts, but the entire aviation industry is dictated by economics, not comfort.

It's a lot easier for airlines to market lower prices than it is for them to sell higher

comfort so more efficient aircraft will always win.

With the completion of a middle-of-the-market airplane, however, the entire range of aircraft

sizes will be filled in a way that might allow the aircraft manufacturers to turn their focus

to developing more novel aircraft concepts that will change the way we fly in the future.

The good news is that these aircraft developments are all about making flying cheaper which

will let more and more people fly for less.

EASILY Layer Outfits | 10 Rules To Layering Clothes Like A BOSS - Duration: 11:58.

10 Rules To Layer Clothing Like A Boss [0:00:00]

Ten rules to layer casual clothing and look great.

Gentlemen, that's the subject of today's video.

[Music] Rule number one to layering and looking great,

gentlemen.

Keep it simple.

I can't stress this enough.

Guys oftentimes make it overly complicated.

You're not some Instagram post, you're not necessarily a Facebook model, so don't

think that you've got to layer five items.

Guys, two to three is perfect.

Look at this outfit I have right here.

I've got my base blue shirt, then I've got my green knit, and then on top of that

I've got a brown leather jacket.

The colors, the texture, this works for me, I feel great in this layered look.

And, guys, that's what you need to do feel great, go out there, practice, keep it simple.

You don't want to make this overly complex because then you're not going to enjoy the

process.

Rule number two, gentlemen.

Thin to thick.

Basically bulk your clothing on the outside more form fitting clothing as you get closer

to the body.

This makes sense if you think about you are throwing clothing on top of each other.

It makes sense that thinner clothing needs to be closer to the body, the thicker clothing

then goes on and the bulky heavy clothing goes on top of that.

If you try to reverse this, try to change it up, you're going to have to fit issues,

you're going to have pieces that aren't just working together.

You're not going to be able to move in the clothing as well and effectively layer and

it's just doesn't look as good.

Rule number three, gentlemen for looking great in a layered look is to fully leverage all

the different materials, all the different weaves, all the different textures, all the

different fabrics that are out there and the emotions and the feelings that they convey.

You probably heard me in other videos talk about leather and how it sends a signal of

strength and masculinity.

I've also probably talked about some of the nap surfaces we see on knits and we see

on certain shirts that make people want to go in there and touch.

So, think about that, you're wearing something that's rugged that makes also people want

to get close women especially and touch.

If you're going on a date, why not have a rugged but approachable look.

You see how this all plays in and that's the power of layering.

So, there are so many different shirts that you can have fun with.

Let me just go over a few.

This shirt right here I'm actually wearing, I had two of them and if you look at the material

right here we've got a dark blue and it's woven in with a lighter blue, so from a distance

it looks like a solid, when you get up close you can actually see it's got a pattern

in it.

This shirt right here, it has a nap surface which gives it something that you almost want

to come up and touch.

Right over here, we've got corduroy.

Yes, gentlemen, corduroy on shirts especially when it's got eleven wales per inch and

that's what you're looking for number of wales actually looks great.

It's actually a very warm type of feel and it's something that people want to go up

and touch, very approachable.

This right here a rougher fabric, something that's going to be durable, but also gives

an overall rough fabric.

So, if you're going to wear a shirt underneath this that actually had more of a shine or

a tighter sheen to it, they would actually work well together.

Right over here, again, another nap surface.

Now, I was talking about knits, this particular knit like that I'm wearing underneath here

has a very tight weave.

You actually can't see the yarns.

This one right here very different, it has a very loose weave, you can see the yarns

and it actually would work with a number of these shirts.

Now, with jackets, like I talked about I love leather as an outside of the jacket, very

strong feeling of masculinity, but some of you guys maybe you maybe you don't like

leather.

Well, there are faux leathers out there.

This one right here is actually a faux leather jacket.

We also got this right here, the sports jacket.

So, if you want something a bit dressier, you want to bring in a bit of a herringbone

pattern.

Now, the color may not suit you, you can find something in blue, you can find something

in dark brown.

All right, gents, so far on this video, I've shown you a lot of examples of different jackets,

different shirts out there, a wide variety of textures and materials.

If you like what you're seeing, I want you to go check out Territory Ahead.

I'm going to link to them down in the description of this video.

They're the paid sponsor of today's video and for over a year I've been wearing their

clothing.

I love Territory Ahead.

Let me tell you why.

Specifically it's the quality and the build of the clothing.

I have these chinos right here, what I love about these, the stitching.

I love the attention and detail when I go in and look at the fabric that they use on

the inside.

They use metal buttons.

I go and I look at like the overall build, they are fanatical when it comes to those

small details.

This jacket right here, this knit – I can tell you this sweater is now one of my favorites.

And I love it's got these elbow patches.

You can go check it out the landing page I'm going to send you to has all of these things

I just showed you right here all these pieces of clothing.

They've got a sale going on right now.

Plus, you can use a discount code which I'm going to put down in the description.

The discount code will not be around forever guys, so if you're watching this video and

it's been a ways and the discount code is not there, I'm sorry it disappeared it's

gone.

Now, in general, I find their clothing right runs a little bit large which make sense and

they've got a -- if you are a big guy, they've got tall clothing.

And if you want clothing that's not going to wear out, that's another thing I love

about their clothing having worn it for a year, I love the fact the stuff is durable.

It is clothing that you can use to work with, to live in.

I also love the colors in general.

We're talking fall earthy colors here.

Guys, it's a great company, I can't recommend them enough.

Go check them out.

[0:05:12] Rule number four to layering clothing, gentlemen

is understand every layer should be able to stand on its own.

What does that mean?

That means that you don't want to wear something that if worn by itself it just wouldn't

fit, it wouldn't look good.

I know there are some hacks out there and you can do this in a crunch where, yes, you

could wear a well-fitted sweater over an ill-fitted shirt, but I still think that if someone,

you know, if you look at the back you can sometime see the clothing crinkling up underneath.

I truly believe that every time you layer every single piece should be able to stand

on its own.

Rule number five.

Colors should complement each other.

So, what are complementing colors?

Colors that complement each other work together.

Let me show you and let me explain my outfit.

So, you see the blue here, you see the green here, you see the brown on the outside.

Let's look at the color wheel, where do they fall?

We've got blue right here, we've got green over here.

So, these are actually analogous, they're near each other they complement and they work

with each other.

Now, brown, where is brown?

Brown is over here over in the red, orange, kind of the red – this area right over here.

So, you can see they're all working together.

What you want to be careful of is going to with colors that in a sense are called complementary

colors and these are they're on opposite sides of the color wheel or they're too

jarring, so sometimes wearing certain colors that just are really bright.

I get this asked, why do I stick with blues and browns?

Because in my interchangeable wardrobe they just work.

Yes, I could bring in something like this and it would work because it has a little

bit of a brown in it, but it is going to start to push it and it's not going to work.

Obviously, it wouldn't work with this, we would have too much of the same thing going

on here.

Now, this would work with this, but when it comes to color, guys, keep it simple.

Remember our first rule and try to go with colors that complement each other.

Rule number six.

Let's talk about layering patterns.

Layering patterns is very similar to matching patterns.

What you don't want to do is go with two patterns right next to each other.

So, the great thing about wearing knits is that knits most of the time they've got

their own distinct textured pattern, they oftentimes don't have like different large

patterns that repeat themselves which you would see in shirts.

So, that's why I like knits they kind of offer a very safe buffer.

But, if you're going maybe for a jacket that's got a herringbone weave in it, then

you don't want to have a shirt that's got a herringbone weave especially if they're

going to be similar.

So, if you're going to wear a striped jacket or you've got something that has stripes

maybe on the sweater, you want to be careful about wearing similar size stripes in the

shirt.

It just doesn't – it just doesn't look as good.

So, remember, guys, change up those patterns, don't have this and there's such a wide

variety, again, from corduroy to having something that's got a nap surface.

There's just a wide option out there.

You can actually avoid patterns in general just go with some block colors.

It's a little bit boring I think unless you start to bring in a textured fabric with

that, but I think that's a good way if you're just starting off and you are scared to death

of patterns, then just go that route.

Rule number seven.

Tuck in your under layers and I'm talking about your shirts here.

So, a lot of guys think that if they're going to layer they can untuck their shirt.

This can work if you're in advanced layer and the shirt isn't too long, but once that

shirt starts to go past the crotch area, if it covers your backside, if it looks like

a dress, it's just not a look I think that flatters most men.

The half tuck, I've seen a few people out there talk about it, no, no.

Let's – I think that shirts should be tucked, then the knit can be untucked, jacket

obviously you're not tucking in your jackets.

And, if you're an advanced matcher you are in the street wear, you know what you're

doing when it comes to layering.

Sure, go for it, have fun with it, but to me this is a bit advanced you can really mess

this up.

Again, if you know what you're doing it can work, but I think for most men just starting

off it's better to tuck in that underlayer.

Rule number eight when it comes to layering, gentlemen, don't forget about accessories.

Accessories, yes, can be another layer.

It allows you to bring in a different material, different pattern, different texture.

One of the easiest ones is neckties.

With this outfit, I could actually possibly bring in a dark blue maybe even a red casual

fabric maybe necktie that can all of a sudden bring in a little bit of an accent, a little

bit of color.

And, yes, you're barely able to see it and maybe – this maybe a little bit too casual

to wear a necktie, but if I were to dress this up just a bit maybe wearing more formal

looking shirt right here I could have possibly pulled it off.

Another thing, possibly bring in a hat with a different texture.

Yes, I know a hat isn't technically layering right here in the chest, but the layering

doesn't have to be there.

With a sports jacket, I could bring in a pocket square.

That is another layer if you look at it that way.

You could layer with a watch.

So many different accessories out there.

You could have a particular great looking leather bag that looks good with maybe, you

know, this type of a sports jacket.

What you're looking at are layers here, guys, and it's that dimension it's the

overall feel that we're paying attention to.

[0:10:08] Rule number nine.

Be careful of white clothing.

It has a very formal history to it and it's something that has a very stark contrast.

These two things sometimes make it draw too much attention, it just doesn't always look

right.

White shirts in general are considered the most formal shirts because it showed that

a man didn't have to work with his hands.

When we're talking about casual layering, this is honestly where I think you should

have a lot of fun with the shirts.

White shirts a little bit too formal, a little bit too high contrast, I wouldn't go with

them.

Now, this next rule is something that you never stop doing, seek layering inspiration.

So, subscribe to magazines, go check out Pinterest boards.

I particularly I've got a copy of Esquire right here, I subscribe to GQ, I've got

a number of other magazines that are sent to me.

Go to Instagram.

Start putting together curating different looks that you like.

At the end of the day, this has been done before very successfully by many men out there,

so go out there look at what they're doing, be inspired and there's nothing wrong with

going out there and learning from the masters.

Now, guys, hopefully you enjoy this video.

I dropped a lot of information in this.

If you want more, I've got a support article down in the description where I'm going

to go into more detail.

I'm actually going to provide some quick little exercises, some go-to outfits that

you can put together and actually start layering properly.

Again, if you love what I'm wearing here, I love this jacket by the way.

I'm linking to it down in the description.

Go check it out over at Territory Ahead.

And, that discount that I've got for you that discount code you can throw it on top

of some of the discounts and sales they are having guys.

These are some – I mean some awesome deal, but that discount code will not be around

forever, so go use it or lose it.

That's it, guys.

Take care.

I'll see you in the next video.

A Brief History of Derailleur Adjustment - Tech Tuesday #88 - Duration: 4:50.

Here at Park Tool, we like to put a lot of effort and thought into what we write and what we present.

so when there's a lot of different procedures that you have to cover,

we have to go through it and think of what order it's going to be.

Now as bikes change, the techniques change, and the procedures change, and the teaching also changes.

An example of this is our new derailleur adjustment procedures,

which differ a bit from some traditional procedures taught in shops and even some manufacturers.

So let's look why we did that.

Let's go back and begin with this beauty right here: a nice friction shifter.

on the friction system, it's very direct - very direct feel from the lever.

The lever's right here, we pedal, we pull pull pull, and we pull all the way

and it makes the shift or doesn't make the shift, but it's a very direct feeling from the lever

You know if the linkage is touching the limit screw - very simple. Very easy to adjust.

You may be wondering if you've never seen these these bikes before - a friction shifting bike -

how do they adjust those gears in between?

Well, there's a device for that that's over here.

What this device did at the bike shop,

You could think of it as an app that programs the on-board computer: the customer.

So the mechanic was basically done, it's now the salesman's job to take this device and teach.

"Well sir, when we're riding our bike, we're going up the hill

we pull the lever down and it's an easier gear.

and if there's a funny noise, you back off a little bit."

So the adjustments are made here at the lever, that's how you get your ten gears

and you get rid of those funny funny noises with manual settings.

Okay, nowadays we have the modern click-click-click - the mechanic's got more work to do

let's have a look at teaching and what the modern indexing bikes are about.

The modern indexing bike is a wonder.

You pedal, you push this lever, it goes tick tick, it moves up one two or three as you like.

Everything seems good - it is good -

but for the mechanic, setting the limits can be tricky

because the indexing feature can hide limit screw problems.

everything here seems just fine under indexing,

but let's go back to our fiction mode.

We're going to simulate that here by actually pulling the cable. We're not going to use the shifter.

So here, a good system with exposed cable was to pull it.

So we could teach by pulling pulling pulling and...

Let's do a repeat.

That should scare every mechanic out there.

Up and over into the spokes, that's about to twist and rip that off.

But it didn't do it on indexing - because you're not forcing it all the way.

So with the exposed cable system again we could simulate the friction just by pulling.

That's a fine way to do it. We didn't teach that though, did we?

That's because of the cable systems that are changing.

We are seeing more and more of this: housing all the way

solid housing all the way up into the frame and then out.

There is no cable to pull here.

So the teaching techniques before don't really work here.

So in a video we need to have something that works for everybody - that's why we're a little bit different.

We set our H limit

We then actually set the indexing

then we're going to set that L limit afterwards,

pushing on that lever to see if it's too loose.

So the nature of bikes have changed, the nature of teaching has changed,

and the order in which we do things we've had to shuffle that around for you, our viewing audience.

and we hope that that helps and we'll continue to do this and think things through as we go on,

on here, the thinking person's channel, Park Tool.

Thanks for watching.

If you enjoy Tech Tuesday, check out our repair help video library,

which has detailed guides to a wide variety of common bike maintenance procedures.

THIS SYMBOL MEANS EVERYTHING TO ME - Explanation and Conclusion - Duration: 9:05.

Last week I made a video about messages that were spreading on Splatoon 2

and I asked you guys to take part in a little test: you had to write the same message

"This symbol means everything to me"

You've been a lot to participate and thank you and in this video we'll see the results!

If you haven't seen yet the first video about it, go see it before watching this one

because it'll explain you the concept.

So let's get back to what happened.

Last Wednesday, around 4:00 p.m I published my message, the first message was:

"This symbol means everything to me"

With the diamond of the EvilSquad

I drew it a bit differently than in the video but the idea was here

and I published my video right after that and 10 minutes after there were other messages

that started to pop in Splatoon 2.

Messages that you guys started to publish and which have increasingly spread in the game.

Around 5:00 p.m Octoboy put this kind of message too and you've been able too see it on your own Square

And finally the hashtag #ThisSymbolSplatoon has been used more than a hundred times on Twitter right now

there were a lot of messages in Splatoon 2 that appeared with this text

which you had edited, adapted to your style, written as you wanted

Anyway, a message that spread little by little in inkopolis.

About 90% of the Squares were filled with this message in Europe.

There were even some messages like this on the American continent

And even some messages in Splatoon 1 but the "who is on our plazza" system is different so it didn't really spread.

We figured out that within all those "this symbol" messages

There were some messages that remained, untouchable, they didn't disappear

Even when I got out of my Square, changed my character, did it with secondary accounts..

Theses messages were still appearing on my Inkopolis square so it must have been some well settled messages

with a lot of "likes"

that hasn't been overthrowned by the meme we tried to create

After that, people asked themselves questions on forums to know where this message came from, why there were so many of them in the game

Some people told them and there were even explanation videos on YouTube

to explain the concept to people that don't speak French and that don't know that.

"..and pretty much where this meme came from was a French Splatoon 2 YouTuber who is really popular

in the Splatoon 2 community I'm sure you have heard of EvilSquid pretty much this meme came from EvilSquid

just because he wanted to create a meme.." EvilSquid : And finally people that didn't know me

started to publish this kind of messages. After understanding or not, some English-speakers

published their messages too in Splatoon "These symbols mean everything to me"

without putting the hashtag on Twitter and that is pretty interesting.

We noticed that the messages that were displayed in one's Square were pretty much the same as the messages of one's neighbor.

the messages I saw on my square were the messages that you guys probably saw too

which means that maybe the most "liked" messages are displayed everywhere

and not only on some people's screens. There's of course a some variation

but generally we almost saw the same thing!

There were also people who were complaining on forums or in messages, even in Splatoon

The Alliance Rainbow even blocked the hashtag on Twitter in order not to get spammed

And finally the next day some of your messages started to disappear and has been replaced by other messages

other people who put that kind of messages so there were like a big recycling of the messages of the symbols

we have been able to see some new ones appears and the old ones dissapears

Octoboy and me at this moment were still visible, I think because we had more likes than the others

and so we were dissapearing slower than the others but a bit before 48h after we published our messages

we started to dissapear and I think that 48 hours is the limit before we definitely dissapear from inkopolis

because I had none message to peoples that said saw me after that time and finally before the end

that's the new Splatoon update and so the nerf of the tri-slosher that made appear new messages

that have little by little hided the messages about the symbols and today everything get back in order

there's still obviously some messages about the symbols on the square but that's not the majority

there's much more varieties like there could have efore

Anyway you get it, the message spreaded himself and started to dissapear, today everything is calm like before

and this little experience was the occasion to learn a bit more about how the messages works

and mainly to confirm what I had already in mind

between the thing hat we learned already is that the number of messages that we can see on the square

is not always the same, normally you saw 15 inklings with a message plus you have inklings that you have met

in 4v4 or in Salmon Run but for the accounts that had never go online or in Salmon Run

well, theses accounts, theses lvl. 1 who never played :( see a lot more of inklings, until 25 or 26 !

but they don't see anyone around Salmon Run and around the 4v4 mode, so everyone is on the square

with a message, so they see a lot more messages than the others.

Obviously we don't stay newbie and lvl. 1 for too long so it's really an exception.

after the messages are region-locked. In France, we only see the messages of our European neighbors

and a priori we'll never see Japanese messages or even messages from the American continent here !

That's why this message did not really spread himself on the American continent

because if there were some Canadians that had posted that, they wasn't enough to make emerge a movement.

After we had the confirmation that that's after 48 hours that the messages dissapeared

and that was the messages with the most of "likes" that appeared the most on the others players squares

because indeed that's because you liked the messages between you guys that the messages appeared so many times on inkopolis

that's not only because everyone put some at the same time, but mainly because you voted for the messages

that were talking about the symbols and it can be confirmed very easily:

that's also Octoboy and me that stayed the longest time on the Inkopolis squares

because we're a bit famous, then more people has voted for us than for the other messages.

I think it's not only depending on the votes but the algorythm that choose the messages that are shown

takes the real-time-votes too

which means that a message that have received a lot of likes, but receive no more will dissapear and make place

for new messages that don't have a lot of likes but are becoming popular really fast

even if they have less likes.

We'd been able to see that the message that appears was not depending on the friend list.

By comparing with people on Twitter and even with my different Switch accounts that don't have he same friend list,

the messages were the same with all of them, no noticable difference about it.

The ones that were in my square was the same that the ones that were in your square.

We saw that the memes could spread themselves really fast but dissapear really fast too.

About the precedent memes, for the furries & lgbt if they were here for so long that mean that they were resisting

and a tight fight between the "Pro-furry" and the "Anti-furry" that made messages share and made the meme here for longer

so if we don't resist to a movement, everyone put his message at the same time and 48h later it's all over.

So if you're sick to see a certain type of messages in the inkopolis square,

it's better to don't talk about it and let pass the fad.

We saw too that there are always peoples to grumble, to criticate a meme

and there are even some people that report messages for spam... I saw that on a forum.

So I don't know what is doing Nintendo about the reports there's others thing to test on it

but at the moment that's the conclusions that I learned about all of that !

There's still mysteries about the way the messages are spreaded and I think I'll make others tests

in different way, and I will use my secondaries accounts, that are not famous, to see if I can get impact

with the messages of my secondaires accounts even if nobody know them.

So I encourage you, if you see messages in inkopolis squares that ask you for example :

"Take a picture of me and send it to EvilSquid on Twitter"

Don't hesitate to do it, because that's maybe a secondary account of mine that is trying something.

And even if others people try some stuff, I am interested to know, so... don't hesitate !

If you see a message like : "Social experiment, like this message" or "Social experiment, report this message"

or something like this, don't hesitate to do it, because that is thanks to these kind of tests that we can understand

how the messages works and I think doing these kind of tests later.

Voilà, I hope this summary of all that interested you, I laughed a lot theses last days

and I tried to imagine which symbol the game characters could choose with messages like this.

You've been so much to follow the fun and to take part of this, so thank you all !

theses last days had been hilarious, I hope you liked it

That was EvilSquid I tell you see ya' soon in a future video ! Bye !

@SplatEvilSquid: ...And that's the moment when I became famous on YT @OctoboyYT: Woooow, i put down my hat
