Hey people have the Interwebs it is Q bringing you your dive conditions
midweek report. At the Caloundra Coast Guard jetty were on an outbound tide and
the waters of The Pumicestone Passage are looking fairly clean, which is good
news because the tides are also going to be in your favor if you're planning on
a drift dive in The Pumicestone Passage either Saturday or Sunday morning.
Taking a look at the waters from Kings Beach boat ramp, as we'd
expect with the currently moderate 25 kilometer an hour wind from the
southeast, there's a lot of whitecaps out there and also, I'm not sure if you can
see it from this angle, but there's also a lot of crypto on the surface which
means if you are going in the water just be aware when you're swimming in that,
that you make sure you clean out your ears afterwards because there's a chance
you'll get yourself a bit of an infection. Wind for the weekend is also
expected to be moderate from the north on Saturday and Sunday.
Visibility wise I would estimate that if you went in here today there'd probably
be around about four meters of viz. The visibility at Shelly Beach looking a lot
better than it was at Kings Beach but once again the surface conditions
looking a bit lumpy. I would estimate that if you went in here today there'd be
five or six meters of visibility and we're expecting that to be pretty much
the same if not better by the weekend. Our bird's-eye view look down onto The
Keyhole dive site confirms the visibility at least six meters if you
went in today and still once again we've got those choppy surface conditions due
to the current wind direction. There is a possible storm also due for Friday but
it's more likely going to be showers and it's going to be mostly fine on Saturday
and Sunday. Moffat Beach offering up the most attractive surface conditions right now.
Visibility wise though a little bit lower than Shelly Beach down to around
about four or five meters. Your tide times for this weekend Saturday we have a high
at 9:56 am and a low at 4:00 pm. Sunday we have a high at 10:34 am and a low at
4:41 pm. And the swell is expected to be up to two meters on both days. So in
summary, if that forecast storm doesn't come through on Friday, surface
conditions and visibility should pretty much remain the same for most of the
Caloundra shore dive sites. so I would suggest that you get down early and
make the most of that incoming tide on both Saturday and Sunday morning.
