Season 1 of Netflix's Stranger Things was an instant hit, combining the mystery and
frights of early Stephen King with the adventurous wonder of early Steven Spielberg.
The powerful Eleven is clearly a nod to King's novel Firestarter and its 1984 film adaptation,
while the Spielberg references are absolutely off-the-charts, with at least a half-dozen
visual homages to E.T. alone.
The Duffer Brothers' new classic is so deeply entrenched in 1970s and 1980s sci-fi and horror
nostalgia, in fact, that nearly every scene contains a wink and a nod to one of the show's
many influences.
But the story and characters are so engrossing, a lot of the more obscure references can go
entirely unnoticed.
For example ...
X-Men
In Stranger Things' first episode, Dustin challenges Will to a bike race where the loser
has to give up a comic book of the winner's choosing.
When Will wins, he shouts the exact issue he wants as he rides off:
"Get back here!
I'm gonna kill you!"
"I'll take your X-Men 134!"
1980's X-Men issue 134 is the one where Jean Gray, the X-Men's powerful psychic, becomes
Dark Phoenix, a cosmic being with dangerous and unstable psychic powers.
This reference foreshadows the arrival of Eleven, a girl with some mighty powerful psychic
abilities of her own.
Twin Peaks
In the disturbing final scene of the season, Will excuses himself from dinner to go to
the bathroom, where he vomits up a creepy otherworldly slug.
His reality flickers away and he briefly enters the Upside Down — the scary alternate dimension
he was trapped in all season — as he stares at himself in the mirror above the bathroom
sink.
The implication here is that the ordeal may be over, but he's brought a little bit of
it back with him.
This is similar to the final shot of David Lynch's bizarre TV masterpiece Twin Peaks,
when Agent Dale Cooper smashes his head into a bathroom mirror and cackles maniacally after
escaping the alternate dimension in Twin Peaks: the eerie "Black Lodge."
Alien
Stranger Things is filled with visual references from the Alien franchise, particularly in
the creature design of the Demogorgon.
The most direct reference, however, comes in the final episode of the season, when Nancy
sees Jonathan being pinned to the ground by the creature...
"Go to hell, you son of a bitch!"
It's a gender-swapped reference — with a bit more bite — to the classic scene in
Aliens when Ripley, nuzzled in her power loader, fires off a similar order at the alien Queen
as it slowly approaches Newt ...
"Get away from her, you bitch!"
The Alien references don't stop there: when Joyce finally finds her son Will, after traveling
to the Upside Down, she and Hopper have to pull a large serpent-like creature from his
throat.
This unwanted guest is likely the source of the slug Will pukes up in the finale, making
it eerily reminiscent of the face-huggers from the Alien franchise.
They Live
When the Duffer Brothers have Steve and Jonathan get into a surprisingly brutal back-alley
brawl over the graffiti shaming of Nancy, they're not just capturing two teenage boys
releasing their pent-up frustrations on each other's faces with their fists.
They're also paying homage to the iconic, absurdly drawn-out back-alley battle between
"Rowdy" Roddy Piper and Keith David in John Carpenter's 1989 classic They Live … except
in Stranger Things, it doesn't take special glasses to see the real threat, and the cops
show up and pry Jonathan off.
Altered States
Stranger Things makes direct visual references to 1980's Altered States with its use of sensory
deprivation tanks, along with other, more subtle nods.
The tanks take a prominent role in the cult science-fiction classic, as William Hurt's
psychologist character uses them — and powerful drugs — to explore the limits of consciousness.
It's much like how Eleven uses the tanks in Stranger Things, both willingly and against
her will, to amplify her psychic powers so she can make contact with The Upside Down.
The Goonies
Towards the end of the season, there's a subtle reference to the scene from The Goonies where
Chunk discovers a walk-in freezer filled with ice cream — and a dead body — in the Fratelli's
basement ...
"They got Pralines and Cream, and they got Mississippi Mud, and they got Chocolate Eruption!"
In Stranger Things, Dustin similarly discovers a refrigerator filled with pudding cups the
lunch lady was hoarding — but no dead body — in his school's cafeteria, and actor Gaten
Matarazzo delivers his lines a lot like Chunk ...
"I knew she was hoarding it.
I knew it.
Always lying, saying she's out.
Bald-faced liar.
Mike!
I found the chocolate pudding!"

Thigh Lift-Sagging skin on the thigh -Dr.Hourglass - Duration: 6:12.
Hi, this is Dr. Hourglass, and welcome to another video in our channel Star Bodies.
Today we are going to discuss: Sagging skin on the thigh and physical exercises.
In this channel we discuss everything you need to know to get that star body that you want.
Welcome back!
The effects of aging and gravity can lead to the lack of tonus of the skin on the interior and exterior parts
of the thighs, causing the skin to sag and to lose its smooth aspect.
This condition can be accentuated by significant weight loss that usually occurs after multiple pregnancies
or bariatric surgery.
In some cases, it is another plastic surgery intervention that has caused the sagginess.
I am talking about liposuction performed on a patient with a poor skin condition.
Generally speaking, the external side of the thighs is affected sooner than the internal side.
Aside from the sagging aspect of the skin, the thighs are also an area where fat tends to accumulate,
and the excess of adipose tissue produces an unsightly contour.
For many people, especially women, these fat deposits won't be reduced when weight loss occurs
or with the help of physical exercises.
Many patients come to my clinic asking for a liposuction on the thighs.
But if they already have a sagginess of the skin in the area or have a poor skin tone,
this means that liposuction will emphasize the sagginess even more.
Some of them think this is okay because they can correct the sagginess
with physical exercises after surgery.
Unfortunately, this is not possible.
Every time we have skin sagginess, we need an excisional procedure to eliminate the excess skin.
The surplus skin can't be corrected in another way like massages, physical exercises, and diets.
It needs to be surgically removed.
This is the reason why I always tell my patients only to choose liposuction if they have a good skin condition
or if they are ready to undergo a thigh lift too.
Physical exercises are a good option when it comes to staying in shape, toning the muscles and getting fit.
But physical exercises work on the muscles and not on the skin.
They can't cause the dropping skin to retract after a liposuction or considerable weight loss.
The collagen and elastin fibers are responsible for a good skin condition.
So when it comes to sagging skin on the thighs, don't count on physical exercises to help you correct it.
The only effective method to fix this aesthetic imperfection is the thigh lift procedure.
This intervention entails an incision in the inguinal area that can be extended up to the level
of the hips and sometimes down in the thigh.

here we are on a lovely morning in Cinque Terre and we're starting the
day off a little meditation by the ocean
so we're gonna take you through our day one of our days in Italy and so this is
the morning session and we're hoping to hike some mountains and kayak some
oceans and train some tracks and we're gonna take you with us and we're
probably going to be introducing you to some of our friends along the way we're
going to meet some American girls who we met yesterday are you excited I'm really
anxious yeah yeah we're anxious to do this vlogging in front of people

we mentioned earlier we were going on a hot date and we're gonna go and explore
some some of these lovely towns with these American girls but what did they do
they left us hanging instead of dwelling on this all day we thought we can take
this opportunity to teach you this idiom but let's just pause for a second to
dwell to dwell on something well that means to focus on it to think
about it for too long usually on a troubling thought yes something that's
annoyed you and normally people would say the advice don't dwell on it don't
think about it for too long it's not worth it yeah so they stood us up yeah stand

five little towns all connected along the coast

some of them are closed off so we took a train to the fourth of the five towns
and we're walking back to the third yes yeah we got be distracted on the train
and we ended up one step (stop) too far but it's okay it's okay yeah they're all
beautiful but we're in a beautiful setting it's quite a big drop down there
we're pushing our luck that's a really nice one I think it relates to kind of
testing your good fortune okay yes if you've got you know we're
we're lucky to be here we've already got good circumstances we've already got a

that is probably long in duration and should be enjoying the process not just
thinking of the end goal okay like in the bigger picture of life people don't wanna be rushing through it they don't wanna focus on the next goal they wanna try to enjoy it
another one Harry said was painting a picture if you're doing a nice oil
painting you've got to wait for things to dry or watercolor it's quite a
tedious process it's quite long but we do want to rush it because it will ruin
it you could say it's a marathon not a sprint and it would be something for
someone to say as advice like keep going it's inspirational in a way isn't it?
yeah so how did I use it then with those those people? so they were worried about
how long it would take to do this hike and at the end Harry said you'll be able
to do it but remember it's a marathon not a sprint

Good morning people! The "Bring Forward" is an authorial work, my and Marcos,
There are 12 songs to revere the great Brazilian popular musicians that we love
It is called "bring forward" because it is an attempt to put "new clothes" into such an important tradition
That involves the Brazilian instrumental music, basically of the guitar and the lyrics
the poetry that wears this song so wonderful that we are accustomed to love and like
So it's a job for everyone who likes good music and who will be able to identify those origins with which we are connected
The origins we worship and revere. So what are we talking about?
Without any pretension, we are talking about great musicians like Pixinguinha, Nelson Cavaquinho, Luís Bonfá ... Baden Powell
And great lyricists. The greatest of all Vinicius de Moraes ... Manuel Bandeira who put lyrics in the songs of Villa Lobos
Anyway, so many good people that in a certain way are forgotten

She's in the hospital possibly dying.

On Sunday we went to a Unitarian Universalist church that I really liked.
