100 Lunar Days - Part II - Duration: 3:09.

[music]

In the time before the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, most

lunar orbiting missions had a lifespan of one to two years.

But now, LRO has shattered all records and been at the Moon for

one hundred lunar days – that's eight years of data collection.

This mission has truly ushered in a new era of lunar and

planetary science. One of the biggest accomplishments is that

LRO's high-resolution camera has been able to image almost the

entire lunar surface, down to one meter of resolution. This

has opened a treasure trove of new data about geological

processes and areas that may be best suited for future

exploration. One hundred lunar days has also given us more time

study the Moon's far side in more detail than ever before. We

now know, for example, that the Compton-Belkovich volcanic

complex formed from a rare type of lava about 3.7 billion years

ago. This helps paint a new picture of the Moon's history.

The Moon has not only had a wide range of complex geologic

processes, but its volcanism may have also changed over time. LRO

has also been able to measure something you may not have heard

about: the lunar tide – or how much the Moon's surface actually

flexes and cracks due to the gravitational pull of the Earth.

There's still a lot to learn about this ongoing process,

making our Moon an important case study when thinking about

other planets and moons. Over its lifetime of 4 1/2 billion

years, the Moon has also been bombarded by all sorts of

asteroids and comets. This has left millions of impact craters

on the surface. For planetary scientists, however, there had

been no way to identify newly formed craters. But when LRO

arrived, all this changed. By comparing pictures taken earlier

in the mission with more recent images, NASA scientists have

discovered more than sixty new impact craters, like this one

from 2013. And that's not all. LRO's instruments are able to

study both new and old craters in ways we never have before.

LOLA, for example, helps create topographic 3-D maps, and

Mini-RF has detected evidence of water ice inside deep craters at

the lunar poles. All of this is important for space science as a

whole. Craters are used to help determine the age of a surface,

how hot or cold a planet is, and how thick a planet's atmosphere

might be. Observing new impact craters also gives us better

insight into what happens when a meteorite strikes a planetary

surface. And this touches upon a key point - our Moon is more

than just a rock. It's the cornerstone for understanding

our solar system and beyond. It has a dynamic history that we

are still learning about and features we are still

discovering. By being at the Moon for one hundred lunar days

and counting, we continue to expand our knowledge of our

nearest neighbor in space, and with that,

the rest of the universe.

PEWEX - This Was PRL [Kult America] - Duration: 5:55.

Good evening and welcome to the program.

When most people envision communist Poland they think of long lines, shortages of good

and a general lack of freedom.

However, for those in possession of foreign currency which was actually illegal at the time,

many western goods were available for consumption.

On this evening's broadcast we will cover the odd phenomena

of communist era luxurious shops known as Pewex.

Pewex can be translated as Internal Export Company, that was selling foreign and domestic goods

for currencies - dollars, or bank checks from the state-owned bank PeKaO.

It was created in 1972 as a network of shops designed to obtain foreign currencies

from the citizens, and at the same time developing a form of "internal export".

This is how payment worked: since ownership of hard foreign currency was illegal in PRL,

those who received salary, pension or any other transfers from countries outside

were not paid in physical dollars, pounds or marks, rather they were issued checks known as bony.

These "bony" represented the U.S. Dollar in a 1:1 ratio,

and could be used as currency in Pekao shops.

Pewex was selling not only foreign products, but also polish products that represented

higher quality than other local goods sold in common shops.

Those items were also exported to other countries.

The Pewex chain was very popular among foreign tourists and diplomats,

that is why many of the most important hotels in Warsaw had a Pewex shop inside.

Foreigners could buy Western goods at very reasonable prices

(sometimes even as low as 40% of their cost in the West) and tax free.

Pewex shops had everything that people needed - from clothes to car parts,

from exclusive perfumes, to chocolate and sweets.

During the economic crisis, when most basic products were unavailable,

customers could easily buy them without having to wait in long lines.

The only problem was, of course, the price, that was based on american dollars.

For that reason Pewex was a place, which remained open only for a very selected group of people.

To give you a little bit of perspective, in 1981 an average polish salary was 7700 zł,

approximately 35 dollars at that time.

Chocolate Milka costed .65 cents, jeans costed $12,

which was almost half of one's monthly salary, and a TV would cost $649.

Despite the fact, that not many people were able to buy goods from Pewex shop,

in 1989 Pewex had around 840 shops across Poland, many of which were located in Warsaw.

We visited some of the former Pewex locations in Warsaw to see what remains.

Correspondent Iryna Dulka reports.

This hotel used to be called Victoria and back in the days it was a symbol

of luxury and wealthiness for polish people.

It was a piece of European climate in Warsaw, generally because of the restaurants, clubs

and last but not least Pewex shop.

This one was specializing in exclusive perfumes and cosmetics.

While the majority of women could afford only local products like "Pani Walewska",

Pewex clients were enjoying foreign perfumes like Dior, Yves Saint Laurent and Nina Ricci.

The shop that used to be here was offering accessories and clocks.

Nothing's changed from that time.

You can still see this metal plate, or for example, those broken steps.

This was a famous shop with electronics.

Here people could buy modern TV sets, radios, video sets,

and other goods that were not available in ordinary shops.

One of the biggest shops was located on Aleje Jerozolimskie.

You could buy here everything - from toys to exclusive chocolates.

Even though the prices in Pewex were not for everyone, this shop was always crowded.

In 1991 the shop changed its system and now clients could buy products only for złoty.

But it did not make Pewex more successful.

After the transition in 1989 polish economy was privatised.

Pewex lost its status and was also losing profits, year by year.

Polish market opened for foreign products

so Pewex was not able to compete with the new companies.

Its debt was growing, foreign investments didn't bring any improvements

and in 2003 it was finally closed.

People still have this sentiment for Pewex shops, because every product bought there

was well made and was earned in a hard work.

It was not just exclusiveness or privilege, it was a window to the better world.

And as people used to say in PRL, the escalator in Pewex

was a shortcut from socialism to capitalism.

Iryna Dulka, Marek Kamiński, This was PRL, Kult America.

Little remains of Pewex today, I personally traveled to Gdansk

to see a famous forgotten Pewex advertisement only to find

that the building it was once on has been whitewashed.

In its time, Pewex was a symbol of exclusivity and luxury.

The brand name itself sounded very unusually for polish people, specifically the letter X

which is not present in polish alphabet, giving the company a western feel.

However, the brand itself could not survive the western reality of capitalism

and vanished from the Polish market in the mid 1990's.

Thank you for your attention, please subscribe to Kult America, and goodbye.

#16 - Op jacht naar Bertha - Deel 1 (English Subtitled) - Duration: 9:40.

This video is powered by Pond Hopper Nation

In this polder in Oudorp, there's a pike

that's able to spoil your fishing fun very easy

This "lady" is well known for

destroying your fishing materials like steel leaders,

Fishing lures, treblehooks and complete fishing rods.

without being actually caught.

she swims between the meadows with cows

and she'll demolish your gear, despite the good quality..

She's known as "Big Bertha"

On the hunt for Big Bertha part 1

Goodmorning all!

I teamed up again with Albert Postma

And we're going to use dead bait again

And we're going to look for "Big Bertha"

Yeah that's right,

This pike is very infamous for this area

Why is she called "Bertha"?

...Well, she swims between the cows and obviously she's brutal

That pike is at least 3,5 ft big

A Pike that size in such small a polderstream is rare..

however,

We've got a little bit of a problem,

A little further ahead is a small sluice situated and it's open..

So we've made a 'battleplan'

in the hope we can catch her

Here it is:

Here's an overhead view of the area,

of "Big Bertha's hunting area and territory

For our deadbait session, we need small fish

This crossing here, is the perfect spot to catch them whenever we run out of fish

It's no surprise, this is "Bertha's buffet"

So this is her hot spot

This small sluice is some sort of portal to a bigger territory

If this sluice is closed, Bertha's territory

will be rather small

Only then, she'll be isolated in this small area

We'll use 4 well prepared rods

2 rods for the each of us.

In the first part of the day, we'll place them,

here

here

here

and here

With these positions, we have the whole stream covered

so it'll be weird if we miss her

Of course, this is the best scenario

The area will be small

But for this situation, the sluice must be closed

What if the sluice is opened up?

Then suddenly, the area will be a lot bigger

If that's the case, we've a backup plan

To fish on her 'hotspot' we place one rod at the corner of the sluice

and the other three rods behind the sluice

The situation looks like this...

One rod on the corner here

So her 'hotspot' is covered

and the other three behind the sluice

close to the first bridge

Then these parts are covered as well

There's also a 'Worst Case Scenario"

What if Bertha swum behind the bridge?

Than her territory will be so big

that she can be found almost everywhere in this area

If that's the case

We'll place the rods among the stream here

Then we've covered this main stream also

All together it's a large area to fish

way to large actually

That's why, we have to try to isolate Bertha inside this small area

By feeding her

here

and here

We should be able to keep her in this stream

Well, "Big Bertha"..

A had hooked her earlier, and i lost her unfortunately

And i found out,

This large pike has been missed a lot of times by other fishermen also

A lot of fishermen have a troubles catching her apparently..

Albert also have an experience to share

Albert, what happened?

Yeah, i fished this area a couple of times

with dead bait..

and the first time,

I had her hooked

I saw a big ass, huge pike appear on the surface

Immediately she lost herself quite easy

I guess i hooked her a bit too fast

Then the second time,

Bam!, she was hooked again

She was hooked properly for sure

At least, i thought she was

and,

and close to shore

She unhooked herself again

So i think we both share the same experience

So you've seen in the earlier videos of Jor..

...When had her hooked..

Also next to the shore

Yeah, i think the both of us are driven to catch here again

and i think not only the 2 of us

For what i understood,

a lot of Alkmaar citizens, also had the privilege to meet this pike,

and also have lost her

So, our 'mission', i think it's safe to say, that it is..

Is to catch 'Big Bertha' once again

You've seen our plan, still it's going to be diificult

Our rods are already installed, we use 4 of them

Our materials are exactly the same

This is not a competition or something..

I don't give a rat's ass who will catch her..

Albert: No certainly not

We must catch her

So, we'll use everything we've got

We have some reinforments for catching the smaller fish there..

She's already busy catching them, she'll be on camera soon

So we use reinforcements, we going to feed the area

So we are prepared for all of this..

and hopefully we'll catch her in just one session

Albert: that'll be great

yes right?,

Any other pike we catch is another catch of course

Of course, we'll show them on camera

So let's see what happens

I'm thrilled to this, you?

Hell yeah!

Albert's girlfriend is already busy catching small fish for us, to use as bait

Our rods are installed exactly according our plans

All we can do now, is wait

So now and then, we move a rod

Albert's moving one of the rods

We have covered a large area,

The whole stream is covered very well

Albert's casting in near the sluice

Because that's the area with higher chance of succes

We both noticed a strong stream in the water

So all the floaters we cast in there

Will float back this way

So that's fine,

We fish with 4 rods, so we have a large coverage

Let's hope for the best, we are here for 45 minutes now

Still no activity at all

Anyway, if you don't try, you won't catch anything

So let's see what happens

There must be pike here

so let's wait it out

Albert thinks there might be a small tunnel at the end of the stream

If that's the case, we might have a huge problem

We have fished this whole area now

And we're curious

there's a possibility, a small tunnel can be at the end

So we're going to look for it

If that's the case,

Bertha might be swum through it to the other side

It means

that we have an extra area to cover

Denise in panic: YES!!

Jor: Looks like a bite,

Jor: i'll let the camera run

Denise: NO! it's loose!

Jor: NO!!

Denise: A huge one!, She released herself!

Yeah that must be Bertha!

That was quite a situation, we were making a shot overthere till we heared YES!!!

What we have seen,

That my rod, and it's a very stern rod i can tell you,

was really bent

We both think it was Bertha because,

I lost a treble hook, bitten of the steel leader

No joke

So i've lost the treblehook, and i'm affraid it's still in her mouth

That's what i call a major bummer

The rest of the leader seems to be fine..

We haven't seen it up close unfortunately,

We were recording a video overthere until all this happened

Of course we're not sure if it was her

But i've seen my rod bend like crazy,

Albert: that thing was huge!

Yeah it was absolutely huge

Bummer bummer bummer!!!

So we are in doubt here, what do you say we should do now?

Albert: Let's stay here a little while longer..

stay here?

Albert: for just ten minutes more

And then we should move

Yes, agreed

Look,

It could be another very big one,

We want Bertha of course..

Albert: that's for sure

It's all too bad, we have three rods still in operation,

So we still have a big chance, she might bite in of those

I mean not in the rods,

but in the dead fish..

Let's hope for that

Fingers crossed

So we stay for a little while longer

Albert is looking for a tunnel at the end of this stream

fortunately, there's none to find anywhere

The rest of the day, we only have careful bites, but no pike at all

In the next video, we continue our search for Bertha

Albert will explain a few things

and we get some action

First Look At Earth X The Flash Reverse Flash? And Earth X Arrow - The Flash Season 4 Crossover - Duration: 5:31.

what is good YouTube Warstu here with a video on the flash season the 4

our season six Supergirl season three and legends

tomorrow season 3 I do have a cold guys but I want to keep giving you content so

if my voice sounds a bit strange that's why I try my best to edit it so you

can't me notice but I'm sorry if my voice sounds a bit off so the closer we

get to the crossover the more images and details that are going to appear I will

be covering so spoiler warning you've been warned I know you guys like these

kind of videos so I'm gonna bring them to you so the other day I brought to you

the first look of over girl from the crisis on Earth X crossover that we are

getting but first guys I want to give a full disclaimer and full credit to the

famous Cora bond yet again a twitter page is awesome check it out guys go and

support that page so we get to see Earth X Green Arrow

or it could be Prometheus we aren't quite clear who it is yet because on the

crossover are there is two green hooded figures on the opposite side to Oliver

Queen it was confirmed that Prometheus will be in the crossover but they did

say it wouldn't be Josh Gaara but I never believed anything that they say so

it could be the dark Archer could be anyone now I know Tommy Merlyn okay

Colin Donnellan was on set but that doesn't mean it was him it was only on

set for one day so I don't believe it's him but one thing that is clear to me is

these masks are not looking good at all I'm really liking the costumes guys but

the masks to me are looking awful I don't really understand why but there

must be a reason why the masks are there but I really am liking this concept of

hero taking on villain on Earth X crisis of Earth X which is gonna be awesome

so we finally found out who are the X the flash is gonna be who is earth X to

flash so in the anime series some was called bullets in in the coven are we

see him with the SS on his chest which sense

for the Secret Service would in the place where they are and he's going to

play by Tom Cavanaugh now this will be the first time we see Tom Carolyn

playing his speedster I know what you can say no it's not heels were a tease

one no he wasn't he was playing that was a bar thorn so it was never Harrison

wells or not properly so I'm glad that they're not using eel Harry Allen again

because this would trigger some of fans in thinking oh it's a Saratov thing yet

again and it will be really hard to manage this during a crossover because

the crossover the working before different shows so it's gonna be a

little bit crazy the easiest way for them to include a different earth

version of Harrison wells would be to make the flash Johnny quick and it would

be the easiest way to explain why that earth looks like Harrison wells and he

looks like a reverse flash but he isn't the reverse flash so also within these

images we see lots of other stuff we see white canary it's rocking a new costume

and next to the flash just appears to be brighter which is pretty awesome it's

unclear when she gets a new costume Bastille is literally every new

character on arrow that's got a new costume

it's a good assumption that a lot of people will be getting new costumes we

also see that captain cold is back he's rocking in a more comic book accuracy

accra costume which looks pretty awesome really I'm digging all these new images

so guys if you could hit that like button to let me know that you like me

doing these kind of videos I did give a spoiler warning so don't say I ruined

the crossover for you full credit to that mask or a bond

it also beverages that they bring it to us

sorry about the cold guys I hope this doesn't sound that bad but I wanna keep

content coming out even though I've got a cold at the moment I will be doing my

review for episode 2 of the flash mixed signals tomorrow it will be up tomorrow

overall it was a good episode it wasn't great it wasn't funny I think I tried

too hard to make it funny it was quite predictable the new suit

he's gonna have some I think some tweet downs because

it was nearly the Dow for the episode and we've got a real nice stinker

coyotes at the end personally I think these new metahumans were made during

the speedforce storm as we found one of them in this episode and then I think

there's 12 and total so he's looking for the other ones so he's gonna form some

kind of metahumans army potentially but I don't believe he wants to kill Barry

Allen so I don't know why he wants to find all the other math few man's so I'm

really interested in these post-credit scenes to think when is the thing that

actually going to appear in the episode because at the moment he's not actually

appeared in an actual episode it's just feeding post-credit scenes so

guys I will be doing my kind of more in-depth review for episode 2 and

trailer breakdown for episode 3 tomorrow it's just a scheduling issue I'm so much

guys so if you could please like subscribe and comment that would be

awesome guys appreciate all the support I get hit

that Bell button to join the notifications squad 818 Morse - I will

catch you in another video guys very soon catch you later

What Lurks Beneath NASA's Chamber A - Duration: 2:38.

James Webb is currently undergoing a cryogenci vacuum test in a very large chamber

called Chamber A at NASA Johnson Space Center

and the purpose of this test to make sure that all the components of the telescope

are going to function in the cold vacuum environment of space

Title: Nithin Abraham, NASA Coatings engineer.

Abraham: I'm a coatings engineer and I'm working very closely

with the James Webb Contamination Control team. Before we start the

cryogenic test, the contamination control team works to clean the inside of the chamber so

Webb can stay as contamination free as possible. It's not possible

for anyone to access the chamber during the test so, we have to

do all our contamination mitigation before the test starts.

and my job specifically involves the development and testing of

a new NASA coatings technology that can help mitigate

molecular contamination concerns. So, the plenum is an area at the

bottom of Chamber A, its the space directly below where Webb sits

ready for testing. To get tot he plenum, we have to carefully walk

in the space between the helium shroud, which is surrounding Webb,

and the outer wall of Chamber A. There's no lights so we have to

wear headlamps. The plenum is considered a confined space becuase

there's only one way in, and only one way out. We have to wear oxygen

sensors to make sure that it's safe to be down there. We have to

take a ladder down to the plenum, that's the lowest level at the bottom of the chamber.

And the floor, is actually the curved bottom of Chamber A.

So there are molecular contaminants that exist in the plenum

for example you have your hydrocarbons and your silcones and

these are sometimes very difficult to remove almost completely,

and the contamination team has done an amazing job of reducing the

existing levels down to a very minimal amount and it's

this residual contaminants that can essentially out-gas during

vacuum testing, spread throughout the chamber, and perhaps even deposit on a

very cold. sensitive surface such as James Webb. Graphic: Molecular Adsorber Coating is a highly pourous material that can be sprayed onto surfaces

to passively capture molecular contaminants. Abraham: to tackle the problem at the source and

that's why we placed the MAC samples in the plenum area.

We do a thorough analysis on the types of contaminants that

were collected and how much, the data is very useful and shows that

we are protecting James Webb from molecular contamination

I've devoted a lot of my early career developing and testing

this coating, and I'm really happy to see it being used on a lot of flight projects.

Up and down

I feel your steps into my veins

You dream into my dreams

You drink my sea of time

And when i draw the darkness

Tears become sand

In no man's land

We are EARTH

When we run

We are WATER

'cause we cry

We are FIRE

When we beat

We are AIR

And we fly

I'm your prayer

The way to look ahead

Your heart knows the truth

While the leaves are falling, too

And when you draw the darkness

Tears become sand

In no man's land

We are EARTH

When we run

We are WATER

'cause we cry

We are FIRE

When we beat

We are AIR

And we fly

We are EARTH

When we run

We are WATER

'cause we cry

We are FIRE

When we beat

We are AIR

And we fly

Meet the Terriers – Ep. 3 - Duration: 1:41.

Scotiabank put together this competition and the winner

is going to go to Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada.

Angels! Do you want to know who you're up against?

Come on Terriers! It's important my players learn to be selfless.

We wanted to help someone. We decided we were going to get them to work 40 hours.

And they pooled their money together, and we found Grayson.

Grayson had a heart transplant when he was three.

With his heart condition, he can't play competitively.

The Orillia Terriers sent us by limo to a Toronto Maple Leafs game.

They gave Grayson such a gift. It was beyond hockey.

Orillia Terriers are my favourite, they just are.

It's taken a tremendous amount of teamwork to get to this point.

Terriers, I've got someone special for you guys today.

Your mentor is 1989 Stanley Cup champion, Lanny McDonald!

I can't believe this!

Couldn't be prouder of you. We're ready to kick some butt!

Angels, your mentor is two-time Olympic gold medalist Cassie Campbell-Pascall!

So proud of what you guys have accomplished in helping to promote women's hockey in Vancouver.

We have one more special person that's going to tell your story to the nation.
