I am the Production Stage Manager of Hamilton on Broadway.
The
great thing about theater
and arts, in general, is it's
Universal and its worldwide.
Working on a high-profile production like Hamilton is very similar to working on a low-profile
production once you're within these four walls.
But, once you're outside the building, you hear all of the hype of the theater and you know that
everybody around you knows what the show is.
As the Stage Manager of Hamilton, I am the glue that holds everything together.
I talk to the creatives and management and all of the actors and make sure that we are ready to do the
show each night.
We work when all of the normal nine-to-fivers are off work.
We rehearse during the days, but a lot of our work happens in the evenings, so it's a long grueling
schedule, but it's worthwhile.
When I first started school, I thought that I would be an accountant.
And I was doing theatre as a hobby and found out quite quickly that I could actually do this as a job and
get paid for it.
So I started working outside of the university on small small shows.
Those shows,I would be the only Stage Manager there.
I would set all of the props.
I would set all the costumes.
I would run the light board and the sound board and make sure everything was done.
But I was really the only non-actor.
With that, came more and more opportunity to do bigger shows.
I would start to work with bigger crews.
I would start to work with bigger teams in stage management and that all brought me to New York.
Then I started touring with theatrical productions.
The best advice I could give to somebody who wanted to be part of theater behind the scenes, or
not as an actor
at all, is to try different things because you don't really know what's out there until you're doing
it and that actually really gave me a great insight into theater; was trying lots of new things.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - Season 02 Overview - Duration: 6:28.
Welcome to Ranger Reviews, a webseries where we look at episodes of the tv show, Power
Rangers and then discuss them!
Today, we're doing an overview of the entire second season and talking about what worked,
what didn't, and what could've been done differently.
First and foremost, if you haven't watched any of these episodes before, there are 52
videos before this one each going into minute detail about how each individual episode making
up this season went.
They're all linked in the playlist above!
We begin this episode boldly in prime time.
Rita Repulsa, the evil space witch, is out of a job thanks to Lord Zedd, her boss, coming
back to finish the job.
He has her forced back into her space dumpster and sent back into space, becoming the immediate
new villain for us.
His next plan of action is to gain control of the Zords, which he does, but once the
Rangers get their Zords back, they utilize the power of thunder to form brand new Zords.
Jason has the Red Dragon Thunderzord.
Zack has the Lion Thunderzord.
Billy has the Unicorn Thunderzord.
Trini has the Griffin Thunderzord.
Kim has the Firebird Thunderzord.
They come together to form the brand new Thunder Megazord.
Also, Zedd doesn't like the old putties.
No, no.
It's time for Z putties, which are the same old ones without black stripes that now have
a giant self-destruct button on their chest in the shape of a Z.
The next big part of the season starts in Green No More, where a monster called Turbanshell
comes down, and he is the reason that Tommy, whose powers have been failing consistently
for a while, is completely stripped of his powers.
In fact, we even follow this up with an episode about Jason who blames himself for losing
the powers for Tommy in the first place in the Green Candle in Season 1.
No one is taking it well.
After another few filler episodes, the next big part occurs with White Light, a two parter
in which Alpha and Zordon have created a brand new white ranger to get the Rangers back up
to six members.
It is revealed to be Tommy, who now has the White Tigerzord at his command as well as
a sword that allegedly talks a lot more than it does named Saba.
He is instantly made the new leader of the Power Rangers by Zordon.
Harsh.
In the middle of all of this White Ranger business, Rita's space dumpster appears
back on Earth, and Bulk and Skull actually free her.
However, she's stopped just in the nick of time by the Rangers who shove her back
into the dumpster and sent back into space.
After three episodes of them casually mentioning how there's a Peace Conference coming up
that's going to select teens from Angel Grove for it, Kim, Billy, and Tommy make friends
with three new color coded friends: Rocky, Adam, and Aisha.
There are a few interesting episodes here where Rocky, Adam, and Aisha are silent members
of the Power Rangers team while Jason, Zack, and Trini are basically nowhere to be found
except for in suit.
Before long, we're introduced to Tor, the carrier zord, who is a giant turtle.
Not much else to say there.
Finally, in the Power Transfer, three teens have been selected for the Peace Conference:
Jason, Zack, and Trini.
Upon hearing this, the six Rangers must travel to the Deserted Planet to retrieve the Sword
of Light which will allow them to transfer the red, black, and yellow powers to three
new candidates.
Zedd also goes to the Deserted Planet with his new zord called Serpentera, who is so
powerful that he can demolish entire planets, but at the same time, constantly runs out
of the power.
The Rangers get the Sword of Light, come back, and they transfer the powers to Rocky, Adam,
and Aisha.
Rocky has become the Red Ranger, which isn't as glorious as it was before since he's
not the leader.
Adam is the Black Ranger, and Aisha is the yellow ranger.
After a ton more cringy, horrible written filler episodes, in which the only real thing
that happens is that they introduce the Power Cannon into their arsenal, The Wedding occurs,
and Rita is back once again, but this time, she gets free on the moon.
She finds Finster, who makes her regular size again, and she demands that he uses a love
potion on Lord Zedd to make him want to marry her.
Finster does, and there's a wedding between the two villains, showing that sometimes,
true love is everywhere.
We finish out the season with a lot of multi parters, which see the Rangers going back
in time while Tommy fights an evil cloned Green Ranger version of himself, Kim, Tommy,
Rocky get stuck in a storybook, and Kim gets sent back in time again solo to give Power
Coins to their ancestors, taking on Goldar and a monster in the year 1880.
It's a weird ride.
This season ends on a filler about there being two Billys, and just like last time, it's
not much to write home about.
So, what worked here?
Honestly, toward the end, a lot worked.
However, there are clearly a lot of things going on during this season that harmed it.
The three Rangers that are replaced was not planned as they were fired for asking for
more money, so introducing Rocky, Adam, and Aisha slowly before giving them powers was
awkward when half of your cast was just not on set.
Also, every single multiparter struggled to even come to an end.
It was pretty painful.
This is because there were actually other episodes written that had to be scrapped because
production of the Power Rangers movie had gone so severely over time.
The only new Ranger that works is Adam because, well, he's the only one with a personality.
He's the shy, romantic kid at school, which is a cool juxtaposition to Zack.
Rocky might as well be a piece of cardboard, and Aisha is a copy and paste version of Kimberly.
Seriously.
She wants to get into the fashion industry, and she loves shopping.
She couldn't be less of a character if she tried.
So, what could they have done?
Honestly, just giving the new Rangers anything to do besides just be there would've helped.
Have Aisha be from the wrong side of the tracks or a tomboy would've been a different, new
dynamic for the team while maybe making Rocky a goofball or class clown.
Actually, I don't even care, anything would've helped.
Just something.
A lot of the major issues of the seasons had to do with the spliced Japanese footage, which
they couldn't really do anything about, so I'll give them a bit of a pass on that,
but other than that, I think Season 2 was kind of doomed from the start.
So, looking forward, how will Season 3 fair?
Honestly, it's one of my favorites simply because you can tell that the writers are
starting to figure out what the hell they even want to do, and they don't have to
write around something as big as three people just being gone.
So, I'll tease you with this: new villains in relation to old ones, a new Ranger, and
an actual season finale.

We go to castings by car

Saline Is Based on Terrible Science, Why Do We Use It Every Day? - Duration: 4:12.
In my mind nothing is as synonymous with hospitals as a bag of intravenous saline hanging from
a little metal tree.
They're practically ubiquitous in emergency rooms and it's a serious problem when they're
in short supply.
Normal Saline, as it's called, is incredibly simple, it's mostly just sterile water and
about point-nine percent good old fashioned sodium chloride, aka table salt.
When injected intravenously it's used to help deliver drugs or rehydrate patients.
Doctors prescribe it to treat a variety of symptoms.
Headache?
Saline.
Vomiting?
Saline.
Lightheaded?
Saline.
It's like Salt Bae became a doctor, just sprinkling a little salt into everyone's
veins.
But for something so vital to modern medicine, it's surprisingly under studied, and there
may be something better out there.
The practice of saline injection is rooted in the 1830s, when cholera was booming worldwide
and everyone was pooping themselves to death.
Scottish doctor Thomas Latta started treating the severe dehydration caused by fluid loss
in the most direct way possible, by pumping fluid right back into the bloodstream.
Physicians back then didn't know too much about what was in blood but they knew it tasted
salty.
Which is a weird thing to know, but moving on.
So, Latta's first intravenous solution had a mix of salt and sodium bicarbonate, better
known as baking soda.
Apparently doctors back then just rummaged through their kitchen for medicine.
It's ok though, Dr. Latta Poop said the first person he tried it on was practically
dead anyway so NBD.
The point-nine percent saline solution we use today stems from an 1883 experiment by
Dutch scientist Dr. Hamburger.
I love that name.
Dr. Hamburger concluded that was the concentration of sodium and chloride in human blood and
so an intravenous solution should have the same levels to be normal.
Hence the name, "normal saline."
Somehow, and no one's quite sure how, Dr. Hamburger's results became the basis for
IV fluids that we still use to this day.
But Dr. Hamburger was wrong.
His estimates were a little too high for sodium, and much too high for chloride.
Still it wasn't until the 80s that scientists started studying possible downsides, and found
that normal saline caused kidney damage in dogs and later that it could turn blood acidic.
But there may be a better solution.
See what I did there?
Because solution can mean- forget it.
A contemporary of Dr. Hamburger, Sidney Ringer, concocted a fluid with levels of sodium, chloride,
and potassium that are similar to blood's.
It's called lactated Ringer's solution, and only in 2018, 135 years after Dr. Hamburger's
