Team Ingebrigtsen S2E5 [English subititles] - Duration: 43:46.Team Ingebrigtsen is ready for the 2018 season.
How do you picture next year? What will your goals be?
To become a European champion.
Become a European champion?!
Jakob continues to impress. He just won the U20 gold at the European Cross Country Championships.
You're completely insane!
It's motivating for me to see that I'm progressing every year, catching up to and passing extremely strong runners.
It's surely a bronze medal for Norway! Yep, it's a medal!
Filip ended last season by winning a bronze medal at the World Championships.
Now he's making his preparations ahead of the European Championships this summer.
Filip is still, by far, the best runner in the family at the moment. Even though Jakob is getting a lot of attention right now.
Henrik made a comeback at the European Cross Country Championships after finally recovering from his hamstring injury.
Come on, Henrik! Come on! Come on! Come on!
I'm extremely impressed by what you did today, Henrik.
It's been a long time since I've been able to stay that close to the front of the race while still feeling great.
The younger sister, Ingrid, is finally old enough to make her debut at an international meet.
She's watched her brothers accomplish great things.
So it must be very inspiring for her to know that she might be able to do the same one day.
You have to sit closer to the table when eating your soup.
It's the last time the big family is gathered before the season kicks off.
Filip's 25th birthday arrives just in time for a celebration back home in Sandnes.
Right before the three brothers leave for a training camp, and their first races of the season, in the US.
The food is served!
Yay!
Thanks for coming. We'll have dessert later. Ready! Steady! Go!
Filip and his girlfriend, Astrid, are getting married when the season ends.
They're considering leaving Gjert and Tone's basement bedsit for a place in Oslo.
We're seven siblings. If all of us have a few children there will be a lot of second cousins...
If all of them live in Sandnes…-
He's trying to convince us that it's a good idea to move to Eastern Norway. We're not falling for it.
And then some of them start to…-
No, no...I'm not listening.
It can become troublesome when you fall in love with someone and one day you're like "Oh shit"...
"Let me just check if you're related to the Ingebrigtsen family first?"
"We're second cousins…!"
Marrying your second cousin isn't that big of a deal.
All of Sandnes VGS (high school) will be full of second cousins.
Our plan is to move to Eastern Norway. Astrid just completed her teaching degree, and it would be exciting to make some life changes.
We're in our mid-20s. Getting out of the basement would be a step in the right direction.
When will you be moving?
We need to find a place to live first.
Yeah, we'll have to find a place first.
Knowing you two, I'm sure you've already searched around Finn.no (largest real estate site in Norway) for a place.
Everything we do is built on the foundation that we do it together. If anyone decided to move away, it would really complicate things.
I will not try to keep my Sandnes dialect intact.
Filip! You're not changing your dialect!
I'm changing my dialect. I bet I'll end up with a (mixed) dialect like the one Dad has.
That loud and angry?
Filip is not moving! Filip is not going anywhere!
The travel time between Sandnes and Oslo is short, so I don't think that will be a problem.
But first Team Ingebrigtsen will enter a very exciting season.
The 2018 season will be great, we're really looking forward to it.
Two championships. The World Junior (U20) Championships and the European Championships in Berlin.
We've never been in this position before, where all three of them are ready for competitions. It'll be great.
Henrik is finally injury-free, and the three brothers can fight alongside each other against the best runners in the world.
The body feels great.
I'm strong. I can withstand the training. I just need to work on the little things that are specific to the 1500m and the speed we keep there.
I think I'll be able to win a medal at the European Championships this season.
I also think I'll be able to threaten the Norwegian record on the 1500m.
Like every season, the biggest challenge we'll face is to complete what we have planned without getting injured, ill etc.
It's been a dream of mine for long time to get a chance to race against Henrik and Filip.
It means a lot to me to be able to race them 'every day'. Hopefully I'll be able to beat them soon.
It's really cool to have three guys from the same family competing against each other.
After spending four weeks at a training camp in the US, Team Ingebrigtsen make their season debut in California.
Here they'll get to see how they currently measure up against some of the world's best middle distance runners.
Keep going, Jakob!
Come on, Jakob! Come on, Jakob! Come on!
Ingebrigtsen, the teenager…
Come on, Jakob! Come on, Jakob! Look at him go! Holy fuck, he completely destroyed them!
Jakob sets a new personal record on the 1500m (3:39.06).
He beats the reigning Olympic champion (Matthew Centrowitz Jr.) and many other great runners in the race.
Holy fuck, that was amazing! Give me five!
That's the easiest thing I've ever done. LOL!
Filip and Henrik are racing in the same 5000m heat.
But mid-race what wasn't supposed to happen, happens.
Is Filip struggling? Filip is slowing down. Did he quit the race?
Filip? What was that about?
The underside of your foot is hurting?
I suddenly felt an intense pain over there. I'm not sure exactly where, somewhere under here.
You don't know?
I have no fucking clue.
Meanwhile, Henrik's season debut surpasses everyone's expectations.
Look at this! There he goes!
Henrik sets a new WL, the world's fastest time on the 5000m so far this year (13:16.97).
Two out of three succeeded. God damn it, Filip!
I never expected to run this fast today, but I still have a long road ahead of me until I'm back to my old 1500m shape.
My base endurance is better than ever. I couldn't possibly be happier right now.
With two gold medals in the bag, Henrik and Jakob stay behind at the training camp in the US.
Let's speed this up.
Filip returns home to Sandnes to investigate if his injury will threaten the season.
My plantar fascia* was partially torn. (*connective tissue that supports the arch on the bottom of the foot, from heel to toe)
The medical team considered it to be one of the best possible outcome in this context.
The dumbest thing I can do now is to rush things and play it risky. If I end up tearing it again my season is over.
I hope I can make my comeback at Bislett, but the ultimate goal this year is the European Championships.
I want to defend my title from two years ago, so I'm not going to do anything that can put that championship at risk.
A hectic summer awaits the Ingebrigtsen family.
They'll have to find time for work, vacation, family and girlfriends all while focusing on championships, meets and a training camp in Switzerland.
I'm starting to feel the stress already. We're entering a busy time.
When we start to get close to the summer and the championships, Gjert and I create a plan how to make things work.
There are lots of logistics involved. Gjert does most of the planning.
Which tickets would you like and which ones do you already have?
I would like all the tickets, but…-
What on earth would you use them for?
I don't need the physical tickets if that's what you're talking about.
No. If I'm flying somewhere, why would you need my ticket?
Jesus Christ, no, that's not what I meant.
This isn't your travel plan, this is everyone's travel plan.
Yes, I'm aware.
Put a checkmark next to the ones you have and the ones you need.
We've made plans for most of Team Ingebrigtsen's 2018 season.
Airline tickets, hotels, training camps, vacations. Everything that needs to be planned and booked.
We have to make a system so we can keep up with everyone's travels.
Why am I travelling to Copenhagen on this trip?
You're looking at the wrong ticket.
Stavanger-Copenhagen…-
Yeah, but you're looking at the wrong page.
You're the one who's wrong on this.
No.
Yes you are.
No.
You made a mistake when you wrote this, Gjert.
No, what does that say?
Jesus Christ...
To Stavanger! Have you checked it off your list yet?
Start there and then you mark them on your list.
I've already marked them, Gjert.
You haven't put a checkmark next to Milan-Stavanger.
Isn't that a checkmark right there..?
Yeah, okay.
It's exactly two months until the start of the European Championships in Berlin.
Back in Sandnes, Team Ingebrigtsen are in the middle of their last training session at home before the hectic season kicks off at Bislett Games.
Filip is back on the track after a few weeks of alternative training.
Filip dodged a bullet in Palo Alto, but everything seems to be working fine now. He's back on track.
Jakob's shape is great as far as I can tell.
Henrik's shape is a bit of a mixed bag. He's having a hard time getting back to race pace.
I've promised to make him a world class runner again, but I haven't promised to do it within this year.
Henrik. It's important that we don't do anything stupid right now. If your muscles can't handle this training session you shouldn't be here.
We'll just give it a few more days, okay?
I'm not skipping this session. This is an important session.
I can skip tomorrow's session, that one doesn't matter.
Yeah, but you still shouldn't be doing this if it can be harmful.
I mean, I wish I was better, but I'm…-
If you're able to finish this session in a sensible way, without injuring your knee after two sprints, it's all good.
And then what? What happens next?
We'll discuss that after.
I haven't been able to put in as much speed training this past year as I would've done without the injury.
I probably need a year of regular speed exercises to get close to my best 1500m shape.
That's what I'm doing.
You need to take responsibility of your body and tell me whether or not you're ready for this session.
You don't make my choices. You don't understand any of this.
Yeah I do.
Something would be wrong with the world if you'd be able to keep up with the best runners just because you got up one morning.
That's not how the world works. You have to train to get good at something.
Don't be so angry, Gjert.
I'm not angry.
Talk to him like a normal person.
I'm just giving him simple, straightforward feedback. If he feels too tired to complete the training session, he shouldn't do it.
That's not what he wants to hear right now.
That's irrelevant.
Come on!
Start off at a 43.xx second pace and then work your way down to 42.00 (300m).
You two will set the pace while Henrik will stay in the back.
On all of them?
Yeah.
The way I see it, Henrik needs more race-specific training. He's nowhere near ready to race the 1500m.
Mhm.
And that makes him extremely dissatisfied and unhappy.
Where has he been in the past three years?
He wants to be the one setting the pace.
You know that's not going to work. The world doesn't work like that.
Yeah, yeah, I know. But that's how he wants it to be. That's what makes Henrik such a great runner.
Ever since I was a child I've enjoyed competing in everything I do.
It can be a helpful trait when it comes to racing, but it might also one be of the reasons I sometimes suffer some setbacks while training.
It makes me try too much, too hard, too often.
Do two 200m sprints first, then two 100m sprints.
Okay.
Get to it!
Ingrid will be competing at her first international meet this season.
She's followed Gjert's strict training regime for over a year. Determined to reach her goals.
You need to be tough and have thick skin to be a part of Team Ingebrigtsen. You're going to get yelled at.
That's not going to be a 36 second finish, Ingrid.
I don't think Dad treats me any differently just because I'm a girl. He treats me the same way he treats the boys.
You should run the 200m sprints in 36 seconds and the 100m in 17-17.5 seconds here.
It's challenging to coach Ingrid, but in a good way. There are a lot more emotions involved when coaching her.
If I yell at her at training she doesn't say much, but when we get home she might pass me a note that says: "I didn't really like what you said to me today".
The boys' feedback is a lot more loud and clear whenever they're bothered by something. Ingrid just hands me a note. It takes some getting used to.
It's time for Bislett Games. Here Team Ingebrigtsen will demonstrate their abilities in front of the Norwegian crowd.
Gjert is uncertain if Henrik should be running tomorrow's Dream Mile.
There we go. Does it hurt?
Yes.
Welcome.
As far as I can tell, there's no muscle tightness.
His legs are up for the task, but whether or not he is ready to race is his decision to make.
Is that the reason why you've inserted a needle in his head?
Yeah.
Do you really think it would be a smart decision to run at full speed tomorrow?
But that's the point I'm trying to make, I'm not even able to reach the kind of speeds you're worried about.
You're be able to hit speeds that can injure your muscles.
No, I'm not. I won't be able to run as fast as I've been doing at training, where I've taken breaks inbetween.
My legs tire out after 400m. After that I start running slower and slower. How much damage could that possibly do to my muscles?
Oh, Jesus Christ. It's obviously very damaging to run until you reach muscle fatigue.
Blah, blah, blah.
My point is that we shouldn't take any risks that could have consequences for the rest of the reason.
It's important to listen to your head. If you don't feel fully recovered yet, you're better off skipping this. Okay?
Anyway, we're not making that decision today.
'We' aren't making any decisions. I am.
No, Henrik, you need to let me weigh in as well.
No, I'm afraid you don't get to make that decision.
If I feel like I should be on the start line, I'll be there.
That's a stupid decision. Really stupid.
In honour of Jakob, a special 1500m has been scheduled for the Bislett Games.
Henrik has decided to race and will be facing Filip in a brotherly battle on the Dream Mile.
[Steinar Hoen, meeting director:] Welcome to this press conference with the three Ingebrigtsen brothers.
Henrik, you still hold the family record on the mile. The second fastest in the family on the mile is actually not Filip, but Jakob.
Beginner's luck.
I've beaten you in all training sessions. Okay, maybe not during preseason...but I did beat you during the off-season in winter.
Yeah, you beat me right when the season had ended, when I got back from my break.
I guess that's not when beating you matters, but yeah…
You're good friends, but your family must be a very competitive environment to be in.
Yeah, even in training I feel a bit nervous about competing against them.
If I'm not focused and good enough, they'll outrun me. I won't be able to keep up with them.
Is there a lot of trash talking involved when someone gets crushed in training, or are you able to be nice to each other?
I can only speak for myself: they've never ever outran me in training.
But anyway, I mean…-
Would any of you like to comment on that?
Well, I can tell you guys how Filip usually reacts after a bad session. He won't talk to anyone in two days.
"It doesn't matter"
Yeah, that's usually how he responds: "That session doesn't matter"
In front of a packed Bislett stadion (stadium), with family and girlfriends present, Jakob starts the show with his 1500m.
His goal is the same as always: set a new personal best.
We can feel the tension in the air.
I mean, it's not really that big of a deal, but I'm still a bit nervous.
Good luck tonight, Gjert!
Thank you. Thanks.
You've been running really well at training, so…-
Yeah.
It's important to…-
No need to worry.
What?
There's no reason to be worried.
Be smart, okay? Run progressively faster.
57.5 and 57.5 seconds, doesn't that seem okay? The pacers' lap times I mean.
I'll position myself somewhere in the middle of the pack.
Yeah, don't push yourself to keep up with the pacer. Hold back in the first 600-700m, keep calm.
The race at Bislett is built around Jakob. He gets to decide the pacer's speed so his finishing time will be as fast as possible.
If you go 1:55.00 (in the first two laps) we'll be…-
Yeah.
I think that will be an okay pace.
Yeah, great.
Okay? Good luck!
Good luck!
Here's Jakob Ingebrigtsen. He'll be running the 1500m.
Go Jakob!
Jakob! Jakob! Jakob! Jakob!
It was originally meant to be a U20 race, but Jakob was too good for the rest of the field.
Then they suggested changing it to at U23 race, but Jakob was too good for them as well.
Finally they invited some really strong runners with lots of international experience to match Jakob in his PB attempt.
Go Jakob!
Let's see what he decide to do. Stays at the back in the first few metres.
I suppose he's planning to speed up soon.
Go Jakob!
He's signaling with his hands, clearly frustrated that no one is trying to close the gap to the pacers. No one wants do the work, so Jakob will have to do it himself.
He's already too far behind though, and now he'll be forced to work as the field's pacer. He should've been on the pacers' tail at this point in the race.
That's the dumbest thing I've seen in my life. What are they doing?
The pacers are sticking to their fast pace. He'll be forced to do everything himself.
Everyone have become wary of the 17-year old, no one wants to make his race easier.
It's certainly not a good feeling to get crushed by Jakob as an elite runner.
Jakob closes the gap. Chris O'Hare has had an optimal race so far, behind Jakob.
The pacer drops out of the race, this is Jakob's time to shine.
He's going for it. The crowd is cheering him on.
There's many runners in the field eager to challenge the Norwegian youngster and cheat him of his victory on his home track.
Go Jakob!
Come on, Jakob!
He needs to stay sharp. He's not accelerating as Chris O'Hare passes him.
Jakob is boxed in, he doesn't really have anywhere to go.
He makes a small mistake in the last curve and pays for it. He can't find a way out.
The finishing time is extremely strong! It's a new personal record, somewhere around 3:36!
He's celebrating a great time in a race that was far from optimal.
He ran alone, putting in all the work, from the 100m mark until the last 150 metres.
Great performance!
He had to pull the field the entire fucking race. What a bunch of fucking idiots.
That was disastrous.
Yeah, it was a fucking disaster. Really unprofessional.
That was pretty good, huh?
No, far from it.
That was fucking terrible.
That was bad?
He pulled the field the entire fucking race. Those fucking useless pacers should've had a finger up their…-
He ran a 1500m all alone. What a fucking disaster.
They somehow managed to fuck this up for him. Fuck!
What happened?
He had to set the pace for 1500m. All on his own. What a fucking joke.
But weren't the pacers ahead of him..?
The pacers were instructed how fast to run, but ran at a completely different pace. Completely ridiculous.
Fuck! I'm so pissed off!
Bring Jakob over here.
I need to calm down.
He might as well have been running alone out there, the pacers were pointless!
He was the pacer out there, that's not what he was paid to do!
He wasn't paid at all to compete here actually, but they should've paid him if they wanted to use him as a pacer.
This anger will be the end of me. I was so angry out there. There's going to be big headlines about it in the newspapers.
The pacers were 30 metres ahead of Jakob, so he had to pull the entire field. All 1500m.
Yeah, I saw that, but it's completely natural that the rest of them wanted to stay behind him. He's been the strongest runner in the field so far this season.
Our deal was that the pacers would run their laps in 57.5 seconds.
What are you going to do about that now?
He should get paid for pacing the race.
You can't be grumpy about this for a week. There's nothing you can do about it.
No, no, no. You got the wrong idea. I'm not grumpy.
You're definitely grumpy. You're standing there yelling.
I'm not grumpy, I'm just pissed off.
Same thing.
No, that's not the same thing.
You need to keep it professional. Things happen. It's not a damn computer we're talking about here, every race has a life of its own. I've told Jakob that.
No, this race was dead from the start. All it did was teach Jakob how a race where he has to pretend to be the pacer ends.
Did you watch Jakob's race?
Yeah.
I've been shouting and yelling so much in the hallways over there that I could feel my hair standing on end.
That's what I figured…-
I exploded with rage.
I told Filip that Gjert was probably yelling and swearing somewhere right now.
It's unprofessional. You don't have to yell around people that had nothing to do with it.
I get angry.
Yeah, but Jesus Christ, save the yelling for the right moments.
Keep it to yourself, speak to your inner self.
That's funny coming from you.
We deal with things like that internally, we don't go around shouting like crazy people.
I snapped.
Try to be the best version of yourself, not the…-
Not the angry Gjert that everybody knows. That we know.
Count to ten. Twenty.
He was able to run 3:36 solo.
Yeah, everyone could tell that.
Gjert, you need to calm down. Only one more race to go.
Breathe with the belly.
Filip and Henrik are ready to run the 1609m long Dream Mile.
The race will give them a good indication of whether or not their rehabilitation programs have been successful.
They'll find out if they are where they need to be ahead of the summer's championship and meets.
Here's Henrik Ingebrigtsen, he's worked his way back from a hamstring surgery.
Filip has also struggled with a slight tear in a tendon/fascia on the underside of his foot.
Do you want to cheer for him?
Filip Ingebrigtsen, the reigning European Champion.
Go Filip! Go Henrik! Go Filip! Go Henrik!
Henrik Ingebrigtsen has had some difficulties with his acceleration.
He quickly positions himself next to the kerb. Way back in the field.
Filip is positioned on the outside of the field.
Seems like Henrik is struggling to keep up this pace.
It's probably a bit too fast for someone who's been doing so little speed training lately.
Filip, on the other hand, looks extremely relaxed. I can barely even tell that he's breathing. I really like how the race is developing.
One lap left to go now.
What can Henrik do here? He's slipped past a few runners on the inside, he's never been closer to the front in this race.
He's in an unfavourable position however, he might risk getting boxed in.
Yeah!
Henrik is feeling strong!
Did Filip wait too long? Seems like he didn't pay attention to what was going on in the field in the past 100m.
Will he still be able to get out of there and take advantage of his strengths?
Hey, get out of there! Jesus Christ!
Henrik passes on the outside, he's slowly but surely worked his way into the race.
Henrik is there…
Come on, Filip!
And here comes Manangoi! He's really speeding up here!
Filip will be able to take advantage of this! He's not boxed in anymore and gets a chance to accelerate!
But here comes Mikhou! Filip is not fast enough to keep up yet! Manangoi is really going hard, he's going to win ahead of Mikhou.
Filip is sprinting for a place on the podium, but he's beaten at the finish line and ends up in 4th place.
The times are very poor as the first few last went by slowly.
That was really great!
No, it wasn't. But at least Henrik did well.
Henrik finishes in 6th place. That must feel great considering how troublesome his road to get to this season has been.
Filip Ingebrigtsen, what can you tell us about the race?
It didn't turn out the way I hoped it would. I hoped to run fast so I could see how my body held up.
It was a messy race, so I don't feel like I was really able to measure up against them.
But I can tell that I need to do more speed training.
Would you say that you are where you want to be at this point?
I'm doing as well as I possibly could at this point in time, but I'm far from where I want to be.
How was it to run at Bislett tonight?
It was really great. The crowd was amazing. I'm gonna go take some selfies and sign some autographs now.
Can we take a picture together?
Can we do a 'Sandnes hug'*? [*I assume the kid is from Sandnes, like Jakob, and that's why he calls it that.]
A Sandnes hug? Of course.
Here we go. Can you stand there? That'll turn out nice.
One, two and three! Good. Thank you very much.
This is the important part. This is what's important for track and field's growth.
We need to make ourselves available to the people in the crowd.
Thanks.
[Gothenburg, June 2018]
Ingrid has travelled to Gothenburg (Sweden) with Tone and William.
Here she'll be competing at her first international meet: Världsungdomsspelen (the largest youth athletics meet in the Nordic countries).
Gjert is at a training camp in Switzerland with the boys, so Tone will have to take the role of the coach.
For how many years have you been looking forward to this?
Ever since I saw Jakob run here.
You have to be 12 years old to run here in Gothenburg.
How old are you?
I'm 12.
I didn't mean you, I meant Mom.
How old I am?
Yes.
Thirty-something*. [*She's just messing with William, she turned 48 that week.]
Wow, that's old.
Yeah.
But Dad is really old.
He is?
Mhm. He has grey hair.
Yeah, Mom doesn't have that.
No.
What's your goal? Today you're running the 600m.
I want to run under 1:45.
Under 1:45 or 1:45.xx?
Under.
The conditions are very good today.
Yeah.
So you might actually be able to do it.
Last year, when I was 11, I ran just as fast as Filip did when he was 11.
When he ran what?
The 600m.
Oh, so you had the same personal best as a boy?
Mhm.
Dad thinks I'm just like Filip. He got better when he got a bit older. He thinks I'll be a late bloomer like Filip.
But I don't believe that. I don't intend to wait that long.
For over 20 years, Världsungdomsspelen has been an important starting point for many young, promising athletics talents. Including the Ingebrigtsen brothers.
I can feel the pressure. All my siblings have been runners before me.
I want to try to achieve what they did, the same or something even better.
You're doing your tempo drill now, okay?
I know that, Mom.
I'm just giving you a reminder.
I'm looking forward to the next race.
Ingrid's race?
Yes.
So do I. Do you think she'll win?
Yes.
I think she might be able to win a prize.
Me too.
If she manages to finish in first, second or third place.
Or 8000th place?
No, there won't be that many competitors here.
It's unlikely that she'll finish first, but it's important for her that she performs well enough to be satisfied with her results.
Or well enough to please Gjert…
Hello. She just put on her spikes and started her warm-up. Ingrid, do a proper warm-up drill!
You shouldn't be standing there with her right now.
What do you mean?
And you also shouldn't be shouting at her when she's running.
Stop whining, I'm not shouting…
You shouldn't be shouting stuff like "Go Ingrid!", she needs to focus on the tasks ahead of her.
Uh, yeah. She will.
Just do what you're supposed to do.
You're not supposed to tell Ingrid what to do, Tone. Go sit in the stands, somewhere further away from her.
No.
Don't stand there with Ingrid.
I'll stand wherever I want. That's up to me.
You shouldn't be worrying about Ingrid, that's her job.
You need to stop that nonsense now. Bye.
Ingrid's first race is the 600m.
The most important part of this is to keep your head in the race and stay focused on your tasks.
You need to be able to think clearly and make your own decisions right away. If you're not able to do that you're gonna have hard time.
That's what Dad has tried to teach us from a young age...to always use our head.
Stay concentrated throughout the race, okay? Don't be unfocused.
Jesu Christ, what do you want now?
The race is just about to start.
She's trying to position herself behind that girl from Skjalg (a Norwegian club from their area). A gap is building, that's bad news.
I think this race is too fast for her, some of them are sprinting like crazy.
There are two, four, five, SIX runners ahead of Ingrid. They have 200m left. Let's see if there's any energy left in Ingrid.
Come on, Ingrid! You can beat that one!
No, she finished 5th. I think she finished about 10-12m behind the winner.
10-12m behind?!
Mhm.
What in God's name was she doing?
I'm very happy with what I was able to achieve.
You're happy about it?
I took a lot of elbows to my side over there.
Do you want to talk to him?
Yes.
I ran very well until…-
Why did you decide to run the race all alone instead of following the leading group?
That's not what happened. They used their elbows to keep me away.
That's not their problem, you could've avoided that.
I tried my best.
You run your race, they run theirs…- No, there's no way that was you trying your best.
Yeah, I did.
You don't run 1:48, Ingrid...
Ingrid tried her best!
Nah, that's not possible. No way.
If you say so…
The time wasn't that good, but I'm happy about not giving up.
But aside from that the race was pretty bad.
I'll make up for what I wasn't able to do today in tomorrow's race. I will run a really good race tomorrow!
Hello? It's Mom. Do you have any advice that Ingrid can use tomorrow? She's running the 1500m.
We usually position ourselves way in the back. When the field slows down we enter lane 2 and pass like twelve people.
Okay, but that's what I failed to do today.
The pace wasn't that fast from the start, but…- I positioned myself in the inside lane, next to the kerb.
When I wanted to pass someone I tried passing them on the inside. That wasn't a smart decision.
No.
Because that made her lose speed. It happened right around the 200m mark.
When you're forced to slow down you have to accelerate to make up the metres you lost. You won't have any strength left if you keep running like that on the 1500m.
It's always much, much better to enter lane 2 than to be forced to slow down in lane 1.
Okay.
She will try to win a medal tomorrow, that's her main goal.
She'll have to run better and smarter than the rest of them.
If she runs a good race, and makes smarter decisions than the rest, she'll win a medal.
Ok.
And even if you feel tired when there's still 500-600m left you should still gradually increase the pace.
That's easy for you to say.
No it isn't.
They have some experience with this, you know.
Stay strong, never believe that you're tired.
Sometimes you feel bad, and start believing that you're more exhausted than you really are.
But when you see someone trying to pass you, you'll suddenly find the strength to outrun them.
Okay.
Do you have a bodysuit?
No.
Do you have sunglasses?
Yes.
I sure hope so.
Run with sunglasses.
Do you have a mustache?
No.
No? Well then all hope is lost.
All hope is lost…
Well at least she'll be wearing the sunglasses.
Good luck tomorow!
Good luck!
Thanks.
Thanks for the good advice. Bye!
Bye!
That was…-
That was nice of them.
You got some good advice there. That cleared up exactly what you did wrong on those 200m of the 600m.
Yeah it did. It was exactly what I needed help with.
Mhm.
I'm lucky to have brothers that have won championships in what I do. I can always rely on great advice from them.
Don't think, just do it.
They just told me to use my head.
You're not tired.
No, not at all.
When there's 500-600m left you definitely won't be tired. That's when you speed things up.
[St. Moritz, Switzerland]
Henrik, Filip and Jakob are in St. Moritz with Gjert.
Here they'll be doing altitude training for seven weeks until the European Championships in Berlin arrive.
I've made the decision to spend a lot of time with the boys in St. Moritz in the past years.
That way I can check on them every day and make individual adjustments to their training programs.
It's a lot easier to do that in person than through a phone or Skype.
Gjert's days here are full of routines.
I wake up at around 7.00am to take care of the little things before the boys wake up. So we can go on with our day.
The shop doesn't open until 8.00am, so we couldn't have been here much earlier either way.
I primarily spend my time up here as their coach. There's not much time for me to be a father here.
I organise things, make the training programs, take care of the logistics, do the dishes, carry their water bottles, plan their travels...you name it.
I have to be in the coach mindset 24/7.
So I give the boys some space whenever we're not training or having meals.
Here are the bananas you asked for, Henrik. Do you want one?
That way there won't be too much nagging for them to handle.
That's some good coffee.
In between all of this I also work for Ahlsell (hardware store). I keep returning to my bedroom 'office' throughout the day.
You're speaking to Gjert.
Hi there, Thomas, good day.
They haven't done what they were supposed to do? And you're not able to reach anyone?
Jesus Christ.
But will they be able to sort this mess, or will you have to…-
Can't they put someone on this so we can sort it out?
We're spending more time explaining them what to do than it would take for us to do it ourselves.
This shouldn't be hard for them to do, it's not like we're talking about an IQ test here.
It's nice to have the job there in the background. That way I can get out of the boys' way and focus on something else in between the training sessions.
That's when I need something to keep me occupied. I don't have any hobbies. I don't knit, read or anything like that.
So I'm really glad I have the job. I don't know what I would do without it.
Take it easy, take it easy!
Take it easy, just 'glide'!
You're starting to look better, Henrik. Yeah, that's more like it, Henrik.
The training camp in St. Moritz is where the season really picks up. It's there we prepare ourselves for championships and other competitions.
That's a good rhythm, come on now!
Two more sprints left and we're one day closer to the European Championships.
When we arrive here all of our focus is on the competitions ahead of us. We're here to run fast.
Here's the part where they sprint to the finish line. That's great. I'm really happy with this session.
[Gothenburg, Sweden]
Back in Gothenburg, Ingrid is getting ready for the 1500m.
Just like her brothers, this is her favourite distance to run.
Hello. She's ready.
As ready as you can be.
It's important that Ingrid doesn't cross the finish line once again knowing she made some stupid choices during the race.
She can't keep telling herself: "Next time I'll do it differently" every time she crosses the finishing line.
You get that, Ingrid? Right?
She needs to stop making the wrong choices all the time. She should always be aware of what the good and bad choices are.
Yeah.
Don't finish the race and say you made the wrong choice! Tell her that.
Okay, I get it!
Okay, bye.
Bye.
But you get what he means. This is your only chance. Your competition season ends after this race.
Hello? They race is just about to start.
Don't lose her, Ingrid!
Poor thing, she's completely 'dead'. She has nothing left to give, she just keeps falling farther and farther behind.
Go Ingrid! Come on, Ingrid!
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7...she's in 8th place now, and she keeps falling behind.
Okay.
The winner just crossed the finish line, and Ingrid still has 200m to go.
200m?!
That was a big failure.
You finished in 5:11.
Did you feel tired?
I went out way too fast in the first 200m.
She says she started too fast in the first 200m.
She didn't even make an effort.
I'm all out of breath.
Okay, but then you at least tried your best.
Can I speak with her?
Can you talk to Dad for a bit?
Hello?
I ran very fast in the first 200m. After that I was gasping for air and I felt really bad after the race.
I don't really want to talk to Dad after a race like that.
He just keeps repeating the same things over and over. He yells about what I've done wrong and what I shouldn't have done.
Jesus Christ…
But I don't let it get to me. I just take a moment to think about how to improve and move on.
The way her Dad coaches her might hurt her feelings sometimes, but she knows what she's a part of.
She won't be getting any special treatment from us.
I don't do this for them, I run for myself.
I'm doing this to impress myself.
[ON THE NEXT EPISODE:]
Look at the time, guys! It's a new Norwegian record! Two fantastic times!
Filip and Jakob crush Henrik's family record at the Diamond League meet in Monaco.
Do you feel a little guilty about beating his record?
It's only a question of time until I beat you as well.
I'd be happy if we all just retired right now.
It would be cool to be able to sit there at the retirement home and be like: "Oh really, you only managed to run the 1500m in 3:31? Well, I ran it in 3:30!".
Team Ingebrigtsen is getting ready for a battle of brothers at the European Championships in Berlin.
You ran at a world record pace on your second 300m dash? How fucking smart do you think that was after just finishing your altitude training?
We're three different people, on three different levels. We have three different expectations for this championship.
We have three brothers in the final! It's the best possible outcome!
Holy hell they're going hard, look at them go!
Jakob is pushing hard from his front position!
His brothers are already European champions, will the 17-year old be able to do the same?
He's built a solid lead before coming into the final stretch!
Come on, Jakob!
Look at Jakob Ingebrigtsen go! Will he be able to do it! Yes he will!
It's completely surreal!
[A big thank you to the Ingebrigtsen family.]
The sixth and final episode of this season airs on the 6th of October. A subtitled video will be uploaded a few days later.

[Rapper's Reaction] Waiting For this so long! iKON - Goodbye Road M/V Reaction and Review [ENG] - Duration: 15:51.hi this is 24
hi this is Tacoon
You know what day is today?
what day is it?
today is october 1st!
is not a normal october 1st
is the release day of iKON - GOODBYEROAD!
so the album is released
so there were some comments on our video saying that
The New Kids series are over at CONTINUE
I've said that if iKON release the album they would name the album name as NEWKIDS something
'New Kids album is done at CONTINUE'
commented a lot
but 24 got it!
you guys were wrong!
sadly wrong!
Finally iKON came back with the new album
I think this is there 3rd comeback in one year
I think YG kinda made there mind
sure they made a lot of songs
I didn't listend to whole album yet
We will watch good bye road and do the review
I've watched the naration video
There was a video on YG's instagram
beatmaking video
is mainly a string based song
i think is a lyrical song
so because the title is goodbye road, I think the song is about farewell
Naration is like
is a lyric about if this was our end, I shouldn't meet you
What time is it now?
Now is 18:16
For watching the video that came right now
we came here and take the video
don't know when this will be uploaded
do some less editing and upload as quicck as possible
Let's watch now!
I think the song will be really fall feel
I think
Feels kinda a uncertain
I like the song
the dance that came out middle of the video
Seems like it doesn't really match with the song
They are dancing really hard at the ballad song kinda feeling?
At the perspective of iKONIC
I really like that Chanwoo take the first shot
his vocal tone really fits well with this kind of song
He didn't really had that much line at previous music
like the apology song really showed the vocals well
I think the song was much cleaner cause Chanwoo took the start
As we listened to Bobby's rap lyrically
He really write lyrics well which makes listeners feel sympathy
Someone who have experienced breakup can easily sympathize the lyrics
I didn't really look carefully to the dance move yet
I'm really excited about how cool will be the highlight part of this song
The song gets better as it goes to the second half
There was kind of awkward feeling at the first part
I really liked the 'walk only flower road' part
I think the hand movement really fits well with the song
doing really delecately
I think that
DongHyuk did a little bitof choreography in this song
The comment told me that some dance move from AIRPLANE was made by DongHyuk
I think the DongHyuk is good at choreographing delecate movement than BI
I really like it
Really liked the chorus melody
the string sound really mixed well with the song
Sounds like a sad version of BigBang's Flower Road
I never heard of this kind of string based song in idol music
it was really a surprise
last song Killing me was a exciting dance music
I thought this album will also be something like that
I think based on the fall season they kind of attacked it
They have done a lot of comeback
Love scenario was steady, Killing me was exciting and this one is lyrical
These three songs are both about breakup
Love Scenario is a break up song
Killing me is also
Is this song something like that he is liberate about the breakup
Is really suprising that using the same content which is breakup and made different genre of music
I think is really different with the AIRPLANE
Vocal have a lot of part in this song
I think vocal really fits well with this song
Donghyuk and YunHyung did the chorus part
They've used Koo and JinHwan which is main vocal a lot
Something like emotional
type of song, Donghyuk and YunHyung fits better than the others
I think BI knew that and did this part distribution
I was kinda sad about these members cause they didn't really had that much part in the song
Im really happy that they've got a lot of part in this song
Compare to the main vocal, they do have the soft vocal tone
They have that high soft tone
MV shows the place where they fall in love
place felt bomber and at last break up place
Like Koo was standing on the bridge
What was she throwing?
Show throwed some kind of paper
something like letter?
usually they don't write letter on A4 right?
contract sheet?
I really felt the same way
The experience of going to the place where they've met and now he is alone and feel lonliness
Everyone has that feeling right?
In the AIRPLANE BI was really sad looking
In this MV BI really looks poor
The scene where he fell from the cart
After breakup and feel clam
It feels really sad when you do something wrong and get hurt
When you get hurt, girlfriend came and visit, but now is not
It feels really bad when you can't hold your mind and gets hurt
I had this experience when I was doing part time job
So there are a lot of heavy adlibs at the second half of the song
there was like screaming kinda falsetto
This melody is like
is the part where you want her to be happy and let her go
than the middle chorus is something that
screaming of my heart
This two cameout at the sametime was really refreshing
I think there will be some like and some don't feeling
I was also kinda questioning about this part because I am not used to this new song
I think I will like it if I keep listening to it
I think they've ended the song with calm and tranquil
instead of that
The choreography was kinda heavy compare to the song
That made me kinda awkward
I think it was a good try
Maybe is because this is MV
It could look heavy cause they zoom in on the dance part
I think it will look great when the choreography is done with the vocal is standing in center
I also felt the same thing
that in the MV could look really heavy
I think it will be different at the LIVE show
Musically, I think it was really different compare to what iKON have released past years
there was similar mood kinda songs
I've never hear this kind of fall like string based song
I think the way that they can produce different color of music with same content 'breakup' is there strong part
I really wanna buy this album
We are planning to buy this album bout august 4th
We wanted to buy today, but the shop owner said they are not selling yet
We gonna try Vlog about buying the album on wendnesday
I think they've made the beat really well
really simple
string based with the drum
drum was also really simple
it made vocals to shine
That kind of composition was really good
Specially
That they've have put more effort into vocal than rap
compare to the AIRPLANE, the vocal part was evidently less
was really good for me
How good is this YG
At the beginning of the year, they did the rap and hiphopish song
Did some children song kinda Love Scenario
It was good to show the member's true color
I think if the audience didn't know about iKON, they will not recognize these three songs are from same artist
Is really refreshing
The custome of KILLINGME was really strong
the custome this one is kinda more normal
which make iKON more friendly kinda image
That was really good
I will keep listen to this song
Something about the reaction video is that
They do this kind of exagerating kind of reaction a lot
We really wanted to do honest review and reaction
eventhough I'm iKONIC
we are trying to do more iKON related contents
please don't misunderstand bout that they seems they don't really like this song
