When I started practicing Aikido,

actually,

my body was terribly small.

Regarding the Way, I think that it has to be followed until death.

Kobayashi Sensei used to be in Europe half of the year,

which means that there was roughly as many disciples in Europe as we were in Japan.

That makes a rather large number of people to have received his teaching.

Tissier Sensei, Miyamoto Sensei both have obviously such a wonderful technique

that I leave it to them to carry the beauty of Aikido forward and to spread it widely.

As for me, on the other hand, I wish to nurture carefully those at the base under me,

The word might be improper,

but...

I want to cultivate them, to make them tough and sturdy.

That is my dream.

Wie macht man eigentlich diese "Wackelbilder"? - Willy trifft Mr. Wiggle Pics zum Q&A - Duration: 16:56.

Hi guys, it's me - Willy again with a new episode.

It's been a while since the last time,

I haven't had much time until now.

Some time ago, I met a guy with a particular talent.

Today, I will introduce him to you.

As I said earlier, I'm here today with a guest.

His Name is Linus.

- Hi!

We haven't known each other for very long,

and we actually started talking through Instagram.

He wanted to take photos of me

and I really liked his projects.

I didn't know what to expect,

when we met in Berlin a few weeks ago

because I didn't know much about it beforehand.

He had two suitcases with him

and I was highly surprised.

I didn't really know what was about to happen.

Then I realised what he was doing.

He created the account "Wigglepics".

Wigglepics are basically moving photos.

You may have seen them before.

The person in the photo isn't moving but the background is

and that's what Linus is doing.

In front of me, you can see his camera

- and actually it's made out of 16 cameras? - Yeah, 16 cameras.

He built it by himself

and you won't find it anywhere else in the world.

It's absolutely fascinating that he built it all by himself -

he even coded his own program.

He is going to tell you a bit more now.

- Thanks for those kind words, Willy. - With pleasure.

It all started when I first saw that effect in a Mura Masa music video.

That was 4-5 years ago.

I really liked it but didn't bother to look it up.

But after that, I saw the effect again in a music video from Lil Yachty.

I really liked the effect.

They only used analog photos.

But I thought there should be better and faster ways to make it digital.

There had to be ways to optimise it.

That's when I got the idea to create a new digital analog camera.

I started the project one year ago.

I've been developing the camera day by day since then.

So, you started 1 year ago

with the idea but without the know-how

and you wanted to create that camera?

Wow!

Interesting, keep going.

I started with a smaller prototype,

where I first connected 5 cameras with each other.

Just so I can see how it works with the digital cameras

and it did work out pretty well.

So I started with Stage 2,

to build a bigger one, which you can see in front of us.

- How many cameras are in this one now? - There are 16 digital cameras in here.

- Are all cameras the same model? - Exactly

It's the Sony RX100.

I've chosen this model because it's a small camera with decent picture quality,

that's also light in weight.

There is some weight with 16 cameras but it's still easy to carry.

As we can see, there are 16 cameras connected -

please explain how it all works.

They all need power as well.

Please explain how they work together as one camera.

I coded several microcontrollers

and synchronised all the cameras, so they work as one unit.

And now, you can use it just like a normal camera

because all the individual cameras are connected.

There is no need to adjust each camera individually.

- So you don't need to do it on each camera. - Yeah.

- That's super handy. - Exactly.

You coded the whole program by yourself?

Yes.

- So it works as one camera? - Exactly, that's why it's easy to use.

- It's easy to work with the camera. - Okay.

It's pretty close to using a normal camera.

Back in the day,

when we started shooting

I was wondering what the hell this piece was.

I was overwhelmed but also excited at the same time.

- Did you create the name "Wigglepics"? - Yes, I did.

- Many people are now using the word and you kinda started a hype. - Perfect.

Most of the people like it and wanna have it too

and with this camera, it's easier than the others.

When you set the camera up,

what do people need to know to get the perfect photo out of it?

Good question.

Just like other shoots, you need good settings,

nice people and good vibes.

The lighting is important as well but not for all photos.

Especially for the Wigglepics, it's good to have some dynamic in the photo.

Of course, you can just let the model stay there,

but it's way better if you can freeze something in the background

so that the effect works even better.

I can use a lighter in my hand.

That works pretty well.

- Fire is always a good idea.

- We used a shoe which I threw up in the air, - Yeah, exactly

You can see the photo next.

My technical understanding isn't that good

but I really like the movement.

I'm also amazed that you had the vision and worked day and night on it.

And here, after one year - we can already see the result.

- Have you gotten some jobs with it? - Yup.

Or what else are you shooting with it?

It's still in the beginning,

the development took some time

until it finally worked.

- I would have needed more than 20 years for that

I used all my free time to work on this project.

- Worth the hard work.

Thanks!

Last week, I worked with Adidas

we had two really good days.

First, the Tango League which was a soccer event.

Second day was with two rappers.

- Are you allowed to tell us the names of the rappers? - Yeah!

The first day was with Olexesh

and the second day was with Nimo and Capo.

It was a lot of fun!

I did it with a friend, Jonas.

- Shotout to Jonas! - Yeah, super nice dude.

Cool!

How did the rappers react?

Photo or video dudes will understand quickly, I guess

but did the rappers understand it?

Did they want to see the results asap

or where they more chilled about it?

They really liked it and were fascinated as well.

Not many people know it

and they haven't seen a camera like this before.

But after they've seen the photos, they're all fascinated.

Photographers will know what a normal camera weighs.

I have a small one which is super light

but even a DLSR has some weight,

and then there is your camera over here.

You can't hold it the whole time or?

So, how do you handle it?

I'm using a camera belt so that my hands are free.

-That's super smart. - Yeah.

Not like the typical tourist with a small camera.

I still remember how all the people were looking in Berlin when we did the shoot.

Great job!

- Thank you!

I see you even built your own luggage case

so you can travel with the camera,

which is fascinating as well.

Please tell me more about it.

Not only did he build a special camera, he also built a special case for the camera.

I knew I needed the camera to be mobile so that I can take it with me wherever I go.

There was no way I could take such a big piece with me.

I wanted the camera to be easy to carry around.

That's why I bought a Rimowa case

which is the standard cabin size.

- A small black standard rimowa case.

Then I started to modify this case.

The first step was to take the straps and cushion from a backpack.

Then screw and stitch it onto the back of the case.

So that I can use the luggage case as a backpack.

The camera is tough but it's better when it's in an extra case on my back.

- And there's even a fan inside? - Yes, in case it gets too hot inside.

I can't imagine a better way to carry a camera around

but have a look yourself.

Now, the most important question:

If you wanna talk about it.

How many working hours did you put into that?

and obviously, how much money did you spend on it?

The working hours were way more than the money I spent on it.

- Just roughly so we know.

We're talking about 500 to 1000 working hours.

It was a lot of time because I had to develop most of the things on my own.

As there wasn't a camera like this before.

- That's why you here today, to support this great work.

Thanks again.

The costs were quite high since it's made out of 100% carbon.

The Sony cameras weren't cheap either.

We're talking about more than €10,000.

- Wow, €10,000!

So, if you thinking about creating something special, make sure you have enough time

and money as well.

But as you can see, the result is unique.

I'm so impressed.

But, there's still a topic we have not spoken about yet.

If you take photos with the camera,

how do you get those out of the camera onto your computer?

Are you using a cable like most of the other photographers

or a SD card

or is there any program?

- Please explain it. - Good question.

My idea was to make it easy and fast to use.

So that you have fun using it.

That's why the camera has a USB-C port

so I can easily connect it with my MacBook.

- All of the cameras together have one port? - All the cameras are linked with each other

- so only one USB-C port. - Okay, I get it.

I also developed a program for my MacBook

which takes all the photos from the camera and converts them straight into a Wigglepic.

The program does it all automatically.

So after you take some shots, you connect the camera to your MacBook

and the program you coded creates the Wigglepics instantly?

- Exactly, the photos get converted automatically.

But what if you had different shoots?

Can you still select the photos?

The program itself has several adjustments,

so you can edit a lot.

It's crazy.

I can't say it often enough -

It's so fascinating,

even if I'm only understanding half of the things you're saying.

It's good to know that there are still people who believe in something

and are ready to put so much effort into it.

You need focus to make this happen.

He had to build the camera all on his own

and even coded his own program for the photos.

I couldn't do it.

It's insane.

Thanks a lot for your time showcasing the camera.

- Pleasure.

We're gonna head off and take some more shots,

which you'll see next.

Linus, to sum it all up

is there anything else you wanna tell us about this camera?

What are your plans for the future?

Since you're still trying to improve it every single day -

Do you wanna make the camera smaller?

Or work with a company to make it available for more people?

The camera is super nice but still a big piece.

It's a bit of an effort to carry it around even with your custom suitcase.

What are your plans for the future?

There are many ideas for the future.

How to further improve it -

This won't be the last edition of the camera.

I'm going to keep on developing the camera.

But, I can't tell you more secrets about it for now.

Fair play to keep the secret to yourself,

since you built it all by yourself.

Keep it as your baby.

Hopefully you guys enjoyed the video about Linus and his Wigglepics.

Make sure to check his Instagram,

we're gonna show it next

and you can find it in the descriptions below as well.

Make sure you check out his photos.

He's super talented.

I'm super happy that we met.

Thanks again for explaining the camera.

I'm very thankful for your time.

Thank you as well for making it happen.

Let's greet mum quick.

- Hello, mum! - Hello!

That's it for today.

We're heading out to take some more photos.

Stay tuned.

Peace.

Why is inequality rising? | CNBC Explains - Duration: 6:00.

Imagine the global population was made up of just 100 people, and this pie represents global income.

The richest 1% of people - or just one person - gets one-fifth of this pie.

But for the poorest half of the population - or 50 people - they have to share just half of that.

That's what global inequality looks like today.

And the difference between those slices of pie is only getting bigger.

Global income has grown over the past four decades,

but so has income inequality in nearly every region of the world.

Huge growth in Asia, particularly China and India,

has meant that the bottom 50 percent's income gained 12% of that overall growth.

But that's nothing compared to the top 1%, which captured 27% of income growth.

Those moves at the very top and bottom have left the global middle class squeezed.

The poorest 90% of the U.S. and EU's population falls within this bracket.

It's this rising inequality that exploded into the global Occupy Wall Street movement.

And if you think the financial crisis would have helped level the playing field, think again.

The one percent's share has steadily increased since 2008.

And the source of wealth growth?

It's heavily tilted towards the United States and the rise of financial assets.

That's partly because banks started taking less risks after the financial crisis,

meaning they've become less willing to lend to the poor and middle class.

But the gap between the rich and poor differs depending on where you're looking.

In Europe, for example, the top 10% captures less than 40% of income.

In the Middle East, they capture more than 60%. So what's causing inequality?

An obvious contributor is China and Russia's move away from communism,

but that's just a tiny portion of the explanation.

Fast technological changes have led to a greater demand for skilled labor,

while automation has eliminated many jobs.

That has led to a growing earnings gap between high and low-skilled workers.

Until recently, trade was seen as a largely positive global force.

But now it's become the bogeyman for rising inequality.

Some people in wealthier countries say they're losing out

because good jobs are being outsourced to workers in developing countries.

80% of Americans think sending jobs overseas harms America's workers.

But it's not that simple.

There's evidence that free trade has increased and decreased wages at the same time.

Take Apple for example.

It's created two million jobs in the U.S. but it's also created more than twice that in China.

In 2014, inequality came to the forefront of global discussion.

That's because of French economist Thomas Piketty,

who published a book called Capital in the Twenty-First Century.

Despite being 700 pages long, it became an international bestseller.

Piketty drew a distinction between wealth and income.

His argument was that wealth, essentially a person's net worth, grows faster than income.

That means the rich get richer, because their wealth grows faster from capital they own,

like stocks and houses.

This type of capital appreciates in value faster than wage growth, which salaried workers depend on.

So what can we do about it?

The IMF, Thomas Piketty and 100 other researchers have come up with some suggestions.

But you're not going to like the first one.

Taxes.

The United States pays much less tax when compared to Western European countries,

and it has an impact on inequality.

The top one percent's share of income in the U.S. has risen dramatically,

while that inequality is much more moderate in Western Europe.

Economists say this is largely because of taxes.

While it's commonly believed that taxes discourage people from working and investing more,

good tax policies help governments to redistribute wealth for a more equal society.

On top of that, the IMF also found that higher income taxes for the rich do not hurt growth.

But that's if people actually pay them.

At least 10% of global GDP is being held in tax havens.

In six European countries alone, €350 billion is estimated to be hidden away.

Shareholders benefit most from tax havens.

But governments and societies suffer from the huge loss of revenue,

which could be invested in public services and infrastructure.

That's bad news for another potential solution - better access to quality education and job opportunities.

Finally, the IMF found that rich countries with less unionisation are associated with

an increase in the share of income of the top 10%.

In Denmark, domestic policies led to fast food workers making $20 an hour,

that's twice of what they make in the United States.

Despite having no minimum wage, unions dominate in the small country.

That's guaranteed them a living wage and benefits their American counterparts could only dream of.

Some say that inequality incentivises innovation and productivity.

But inequality causes political and economic instability, and the IMF says it hurts economic growth.

If we want to make this pie bigger overall, its slices are going to have to get more equal first.

Potato Battery made by Japanese Girl - Duration: 3:50.

Hello everyone, I'm Miki Igarashi, the science girl

I'm Anahiko, nice to meet you

What today?

We actually got a request to Miki Lab

We will make potato battery

Battery with potato

You don't sound excited

So calm

What is a potato battery?

It's just as it is. Making battery with potato

Can you believe it?

Potatoes won't become batteries

You cannot believe it, can you?

Potato is a potato

That is true, but by using the power of science,

the potato will become a battery

Let's take a look!

Let's have fun today

Here we go, Let's Science

Let's start making a potato battery

Have a potato with you

Adding two slits with a knife in two parts

Insert this copper plate into the slit

Like this

It's inserted

Now to make it parallel

insert a zinc plate into the potato

It will be like this

We will have two same looking things ready

Next I will connect the copper and the zinc with a clip

Connect it like this

Have another clip ready and...

connect it to the zinc

Have another clip ready and connect to the copper

It is connected like this

The clips which are connected to the zinc and the copper

Connect to the LED

The longer line will be connected to the copper clip

and when you connect the shorter one to the zinc

It's shining

It is shining!

Amazing

Miki, it shined so well!

Amazing!

It glowed so light in the dark!

That was so surprising!

Why did the potato become a battery?

The reason is..

With the acid in the potato, the zinc started to melt

The electron flowed into the copper, and the electricity flowed

and the LED lit

That is the answer

I see

With your request

we were able to make a potato battery and it was fun

Jonah Hill Bribed His Young Mid90s Lead with Nutella - Duration: 5:16.

-Congrats on "Mid90s." -Thank you very much.

-This is your directorial debut. -Mm-hmm.

-I want to -- I have so many questions.

I have -- First of all... -Shoot.

-What made you want to choose this subject --

this movie, for your directorial debut?

-Well, basically, you know, I've wanted to be

a writer, director, a filmmaker my entire life,

and I kind of I fell into this amazing

15-year acting career,

and I went to the best film school in the world.

You know, I got to learn from a lot of the masters,

and I was lucky enough to just get a front-row education

to what I wanted to do.

But I looked at my heroes,

people like Mike Nichols or Barry Levinson,

who started in comedy and became great filmmakers.

And I looked, and a lot of times, their first film --

You only get one shot at a first film.

One shot to ever make your first film.

And all these people, their first film

really came from the heart, and it meant something to them.

-Yeah. -And for me,

I waited until I had something to say,

and "Mid90s" is my heart.

You know, it is -- it's my heart, that's it.

[ Cheers and applause ] -It's emotion, it's --

[ Applause ]

How do you explain the film? How do you set it up?

-Well, at its core, it's like an animal kingdom movie.

You know, it's this lonely kid who has, you know,

a messed-up life at home, and he's looking for connection.

And he finds skateboarding,

and he finds this group of skateboarders.

And he has to work his way up as a cub

through the animal kingdom,

and as he does, they form this --

you know, it's a time in your life when your friends

are more important than your family, you know?

It's like you form a family outside of your house,

and these kids are just so amazing,

and they're there for each other in a way

that gives this kid some hope.

-Were you a skater growing up?

-I was a terrible skateboarder,

but I was 100% dedication, 14% skill.

-Oh, fantastic. That's great. -Yeah, I was terrible.

I filmed -- I was at a shop called Hot Rod for four years,

and I loved it. I loved every second of it.

And all I wanted to do was belong, you know?

-Yeah. -And it's like,

when you're that age, like 12, 13, at least for me,

it was so frickin' lonely, you know?

So you're like, how do I just fit in and connect?

-With anyone. -And if you --

Skateboarding is, like, always butchered on film, you know?

It's, like, a known thing. Like, skate --

People always mess up skateboarding in film.

So it was a big task, because first and foremost,

I wanted to make a film that respected this thing

that came into my life, even though

I was terrible at it. -Yeah.

-That really was a beautiful part of my life.

And I didn't write it from a place of authority.

I wrote it from a place of love and respect,

and it's been amazing to show skateboarders this film,

because I really tried to honor them first and foremost.

-You get it. I mean, you get it.

You get that thing. You just -- you feel like

you're kind of eavesdropping on this kid's life.

-And the kids are amazing. Like, I --

-They really are. -They -- you know --

The most moving experience in my life is I cast non-actors

as these roles,

and in the movie they have to do a lot of acting,

and so I prepared the film so you could --

like, they would improvise, because I'm like,

Okay, they're not going to be able to act.

I'm just going to have to capture them.

And I spent three years on the script,

and was willing to throw it away,

but these kids -- getting this opportunity

to become artists and getting that chance,

watching them take it

and want to be these people that's not them

is the singular most moving experience of my life.

Like, hands down. These kids are beautiful.

-How are they reacting now? Have they seen it?

-They're losing their minds. [ Laughter ]

So, Sunny -- Sunny Suljic, who's the main kid,

he plays Stevie, right? -Yeah.

-He's unbelievable.

He was 11 when we shot the film, and I've never,

as a 34-year-old, never had a movie --

of a 15-year career, I've never had to do that much,

like, strap a movie to my back and walk across the field.

-He's got to carry this movie. -He's 11.

I literally kept him running on Nutella for the whole shoot.

[ Laughter ] It was literally --

I figured out his drug of choice was Nutella.

And thank you to the good people at Nutella,

because you got me through my first filmmaking experience...

-Yeah. -...with Sunny.

And he's so amazing. And the most beautiful --

So, the Toronto Film Festival, right?

That was the world premiere. -Yeah.

-Bennett Miller, who made "Moneyball,"

he waited to show -- I saw the film there,

and my family and friends were there,

and it was a really emotional experience.

So, I was given that as an experience,

and I wanted to give that to these kids.

So I waited to show them the film for the first time

at the Toronto Film Festival.

-So what were you watching? The screen or their faces?

-I was watching them the entire time.

And I was also -- I'm crazy about sound.

I'm sure The Roots agree.

If, like, the sound is off in a theater, I go mentally ill.

And so, like, I -- but Sunny --

it ends, and he's 11, and he just grasps onto my leg

as the movie's ending.

And he looks up at me and he goes,

"That's the best [bleep] movie I've ever seen in my life!"

[ Laughter ]

And he was crying. And he goes,

'Yo, you're a beast director, bro!

You're a beast director!"

And I'm like, "Thank you!" -"Thank you! Thank you!"
