Waching daily Oct 8 2018

Yo BMStudents !

My name is BMS : Bored Medical Senseï !

Welcome to the...

Somewhere on Planet Nopaj

615 days before the Hunter Exam

Please teach me Neurology ! I am begging you !

Nope, impossible.

You do not even master the basics.

How dare you...?

One day, I'm gonna become...

... the King of the Docto-

Here it is! I am finally doing a video series

dedicated to the speciality talking about the best organ there is :

Neurology

But before entering the subject, we need some solid foundations:

So in this video, we will be talking about all the basic knowledge you need to have

about the Anatomy of the Brain that could be helpful later on.

In this video, we will be talking about the General Anatomy of the Nervous System:

the different cerebral lobes,

basal ganglia,

ventricles and meninges.

And in a future video, we will be talking about the Histology of the Nervous System:

the description of a neuron,

histology of the cerebral cortex,

and glial cells.

So arm yourselves and take your hammers with you,

Let's go !

1. General Anatomy

The Nervous System can be divided in 3 parts:

The Central Nervous System (CNS)

The Peripheral Nervous System (PNS)

And the Autonomic (or Vegetative) Nervous System (ANS)

The CNS is, as you can tell, central.

It is composed of the Encephalon, which is what is inside our skulls

And its extension downwards: the Spinal Cord,

that is surrounded and protected by our Spine.

And what is exactly inside our skulls ?

The Brain, the Cerebellum and the Brainstem:

which is the small part that connects the Brain to the Spinal Cord.

The Brainstem is also composed of 3 parts:

The Mesencephalon on top,

The Medulla at the bottom,

and the Pons in the middle.

And to top it off, the Cerebellum is located on the back of the Brainstem.

The Cerebellum is like a "mini-brain" that controls coordination, tonus and balance.

You can use the cerebellum as a landmark to distinguish the front side from the back side of the brain,

and the brain kinda looks like a SWAT helmet to me, so that helps.

Now let's talk about the PNS,

it designates all the nerves that come from the CNS with the aim of spreading throughout the body.

In order to execute an order coming from the CNS,

or, at the contrary, bring a peripheral information to the CNS.

And finally, we have the ANS (or VNS):

it is the nervous system that allows our body to face a stressful situation : Fight or Flight.

Or a relaxing situation : Rest and Digest.

It is an Autonomic nervous system, our will does not have any significant effect on it.

it's kinda like our "wild animal" side.

*roar*

But since we're humans, and not animals; we can kinda modulate the ANS with our emotions,

But we're not here to talk about this right now.

Now, since everything is set, let's jump right it !

You guys remember the video I did about the embryology of the NS, Neurulation, right ?

No...?

So you kids ditch YouTube classes now?! You gotta be kidding me!

It's okay, it's fine, it's all just about the formation of a tube, in the end.

And that Neural Tube will grow at the Cephalic region to form 3 big vesicles :

the Prosencephalon will form the Brain,

the Mesencephalon and Rhombencephalon will form the Brainstem and Cerebellum,

and the rest of the tube will form the Spinal Cord.

The Rhombencephalon will divide into Metencephalon and Myelencephalon to form the Pons and Medulla.

The Mesencephalon will stay the same,

and the Prosencephalon will divide into Telencephalon and Diencephalon.

And guess what: the Telencephalon is just a complicated name for "Cerebral Hemispheres".

and the Diencephalon is the small median part of the Brain composed of the 2 Thalami and Hypothalamus

Yes, the plural of "Thalamus" is "Thalami".

and yes, we have 2 Thalami (Left and Right) for one single median Hypothalamus.

EPK Volume I - Francisco Batista - Duration: 4:17.

My name is Francisco Batista.

I was born in Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina.

I started to take music seriously when I was 19 years old.

And for a while I wanted to record...

something under my "supervision", so to speak.

This year, 2018, I got a call to go and play at the

International Django Festival that is held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

And they asked to take my own project, which I didn't really have it at that moment.

And that's how I saw the opportunity to create the project

call the musicians and record.

It's called Gypsy Jazz, Jazz Manouche, or Gypsy Swing.

It's basically Jazz.

But the idea, the concept, is different. It's a European style of Jazz

which it is not played with drums, but instead, there's a rhythm guitar,

a lead guitar, and other instruments that'd play the melody or the improvisation.

It's a very rich style. It's a very rich style that has strong differences with the American style of Jazz.

It's full of improvisation, virtuosity, melodic content

and in this moment in the world there's a lot of Gypsy Jazz going on. There's a lot of people playing it.

This recording, the EP "Volume I" features

Pablo Devadder on Clarinet and Sax

Bruno Lazzarini on Trumpet

Matias Moro on Tenor Sax

Alfredo Tosto on percussion

And Alexis Gambacurta on Double Bass

And I'm very happy to do this here in the city of Rosario, because

the guys were able to do their own thing in it, put their own touch to it.

These are not musicians who are involved in the style of Gypsy Jazz.

But they were able to take the style, make it their own, and play it differently.

They all play different kinds of music, but regarding Jazz, they come from a different school.

Mostly the American style, which its main difference is the presence of a drum set,

and the musical vocabulary is different because there was a stylistic evolution

from the 30's and 40's, the Swing Era, to what came afterwards.

I think we are all very happy with the result of this session.

I just gave the guys the style, the songs, the arrangements

and then they did what the wanted with that. And it turned out pretty good.

Mercedes-Benz G-Class (2018): Exploring Finland's Wild Taiga with Konsta Punkka | Vlog 1 - Duration: 10:29.

My name is Konsta Punkka. I'm a wildlife, nature and adventure photographer.

I come from Helsinki, Finland and I've been doing photography since I was 16 or 17.

This wild taiga trip was about going to east Finland

which is very sort of wild still. It's the only place you can find wolves, bears

and photograph them so I wanted to show the rough, wild East Finland.

I didn't sleep tonight.

You didn't sleep tonight?

No, I switched my time schedule so that I am awake all night so we can shoot all night and then

you can sleep during daytime when the sun is too bright and there is nothing to shoot.

Travelling in Finland in the summer is very special because if you are a photographer

you can have the perfect golden light that you would have in, for example, Europe for an hour.

Here you can have it the whole night.

So the first day we focussed on one of my spots in southern Finland where we often photograph deer and moose.

Now you need to have your camera handy on your lap because the situations

come very quickly with the moose and deer so I will have my 7200 to get the shots I want.

Not too long a lens and not too wide a lens. It's a good handy

lens to use in quick situations.

The car is often the best hide you can have for wildlife photography.

So it has a good mix with moose and deer photography and with the G-Class.

After the shooting close to Helsinki we then started our journey towards Pulkkilanharju

which is a gorgeous road which goes through Päijänne, which is the second biggest lake in Finland.

Good spot for getting some car photos and photographing the lakes in Finland.

Today is quite a bit of driving. Now we start off a drive of six hours.

We get to the actual wild taiga area and see the first spots over there.

We try to avoid the motorways and drive smaller roads to see some nice landscapes of

Finland with birch trees and lakesides and stuff like that.

So I'm looking forward to it.

So Koli National Park is very special because in Finland it's hard

to find places that you can look straight down from. So all the hills or higher

places are always sloping hills so there are no straight cliffs there.

So in the east is the only place in Finland where you can find few spots where you have a

river or lake that has these sort of cliffs, canyons or lakes that actually

give you a completely different atmosphere or views because you actually

can see over the trees.

So basically anyone can take a nice sunset or a sunrise picture but

it's always all about the composition or the subject you have with the sun.

So basically a good first tip is to get to know the area before the magic

actually happens so you are not running when the good light is and shooting random stuff.

You actually know what you're going to shoot.

The second tip is when you have your spots in mind, the sunrise at this time of the

year in Finland is at 3 a.m. or in the north it doesn't even set so you

have to be on the spot before the sun gets up on the horizon.

And the last thing with sunrise at this time of the year, all the shooting is happening

often in a golden light. There's a lot happening in a picture.

There's strong highlights, strong contrast, dark shadows and you need to find a good

balance with it and find a perfect setup for that.

So after a tough night of shooting the sun setting, the team went back

to sleep a bit and then after a few hours of napping we went very close to the Russian border.

This place is really really gorgeous.

I never imagined a road like this that you can reach by car. I'm really curious to see

what we are going to see tonight. Supposedly there are some wolves that are

wandering around the area and probably, if we are lucky enough, we will catch them.

This time when we were in east Finland and going to this wolf hide

I was of course again very stoked to see the wolves because the odds were now

almost the best I have had on my projects so far.

I have tried to see them maybe five times and didn't see them and now a few times at summer.

It's a challenge I love that something doesn't come easy.

So when you are in the wildlife hide we have these bags where you put your

lens through so basically the only movement animals will see is the lens

moving like this. When the wolf comes you must move very slowly like

this to follow it. You put the lens out like this it and will stay there overnight

until morning. You cannot change the lens or do anything like this because the animals

will get afraid. Now we are waiting for the next 12 hours, I guess.

And watch what we can see.

Hopefully some wolves. That would be crazy to get my first-ever wolf.

I think we have been in the hide for like 30 minutes. We got the first bear already here.

First wildlife hide now. We've got quite a few bears and we got to see the

wolverine a few times in the night but still the wolves kept their

way out. So it's still a mystery animal. When you're staying in hides,

you definitely need to have patience because you need to be quiet all the

time and sometimes it's one night, sometimes it's two days, sometimes even

three if you want to see something very shy and rare. You need to keep yourself

fresh-thinking and always see the goal in your eyes. After 20 hours you will

all the time start to ask yourself: Why am I here? Why am I not doing something more fun?

Because there would be better places to stay for 24 hours but that's the only

way you get the shot so you pass that and just have a clear sight of the goal

you want and that way you can achieve it. There are no shortcuts to that.

The Best Bang For The Bug - LS Powered Volkswagen Bug - Holley LS Fest - Duration: 3:34.

My dad was into GM cars, when I wanted to get a Volkswagen for my first car, he didn't

even take me to get it.

My name is Josh Craig, I'm from just outside of St. Louis in a town called Roxanna, I work

as a laborer during the day and we play with cars and that's how we pass time.

I've always been into cars, it was me and another guy who had done a lot of this and

he's here today too but it took us about a year to make it run and drive and about a

year and a half to make everything kind of the way you see it today.

It's an LS1 5.7, it's got a 4L60E, yank converter, 9-inch rear end, 799 cylinder heads and an

LS6 intake, all bolt on stuff but I felt like it was the best bang for the buck and the

best way to make the easiest, cheapest horsepower and the parts were very available, that's

why we use the LS and they last, you can really punish them and they come back for some more.

I've had Volkswagens, I bought my first one when I was about 13, I still have it, my dad

was into GM cars, when I wanted to get a Volkswagen for my first car, he didn't even take me to

get it, my neighbor took me to get it actually.

It sat outside for a long time and then my mom, she stepped in and shoved her weight

around and I got some garage space and by the time I was 16 the car was painted and

ready to go and I had some friends that had taken rear engine cars and put front engines

in them and I wanted to do one too.

We put the chassis, it's an S10 to the transmission cross member, we cut it off at the cross member,

we put the chassis on jack stands, we put the Volkswagen body on a lift and we slowly

brought the two of them together and once everything fit we welded it all together.

I was here for the end of LS Fest in 2013 when drag week left from here and a couple

of the guys here also were there, I rode down with one of the guys here, that car was in

it, so yeah actually my second one but first one being a participant.

The car currently, I think the transmission is hurt, we probably did it first or second

pass out here unfortunately but I would like it to run a 10.80 and then if it runs 10.80

we're going to put the Holley Dominator on it and we're going to probably spray maybe

150 more to it and see what happens.
