Waching daily Jun 21 2017

hi thanks for joining me this is angie chic-n-scratch these are the projects

we're making today we're actually going to be making eight cards and a bag and

we're using one sheet of designer series paper so here's the sheet that we use it

and then this is our template so this is simply one sheet template number ten

okay so the first thing we're going to do is get out the Stampin trimmer and

we're going to cut to make a bag you need a piece of the designer series

paper that measures 6 by 12 so that's going to be our first cut is X 6 inches

we're going to set this aside for the bag and then now we're going to make one

cut at 3 inches make sure this is straight here

now we have two pieces that measure 3 inches we're going to take these two

pieces and we're going to cut them down to measure 3 x 2-3/4

so that's the only scraps out of the 12 by 12 sheet of designer sandpaper now

we're going to take our solid sheet you're going to need four pieces of

crushed curry these are the full sheets so you get two out of a sheet two cards

so we've got four of those for our card bases we've got two sheets of the basic

black and then two sheets of the whisper white and then we're going to use this

along with this for our bag okay so I'm going to set that aside let's go ahead

and cut for the base of our cards which is the crushed curry again I'm just

going to cut this at five and a half so that's two cards and eight we're going

to score those in just a minute we're going to set them aside for now we're

going to add them to our designer series paper and then we're going to cut our

black piece that measures four and a half by three and a half and we need

eight of those so I'm going to cut this at four and a half and four and a half

scrap four and a half and two and a half so now we're going to cut these down to

measure three and a half

okay so here's all eight pieces of the basic black that measures four and a

half five three and a half now we need to cut our white pieces and those

measure four and a quarter by three and a quarter so I'm going to cut this at

four and a quarter and then three and a quarter

okay so here's all of our white pieces that measure four and a quarter by three

and a quarter you've got all the layers to our cards the only thing that we

don't have cut is the little flower here we'll show that in just a minute so what

I'm going to do is go ahead and stamp this image on the bottom area of our

white and then while that's drying we'll score card stock okay so I've got the

back pieces and pattern stamp set that is this one right here basic black ink

just want to make sure that my image is straight

okay just going to place this here I'm going to score it at four and a quarter

just fold these over to form the card base you get dried so now what I'm going

to do is take my crushed curry marker and I'm going to color the weld did I

mess that one up see now it's just some fuzz on there so I'm going to color

these off-camera I'll color one on camera then I'm going to pause the video

and and do that I could fast forward but that is just such a large video file so

here goes my coloring of one-plus if I do it off camera can look at it really

closely

okay now let's go ahead and add our designer series paper I love the other

side of this paper too so this is going to go up here then we're going to take

the crushed curry mini Chevron ribbon I believe that's the name of it I'm just

going to make one of these on camera and then I'll do the rest of them off camera

just to save a little bit of time parts of this video I will fast forward and

then the other parts are I will not so now I'm just going to slide it down here

get my scissors and that's so cute and then for our little flower I'm using the

tree builder punch and this little teeny tiny flower right there is perfect for

our new glitter enamel dots so we need eight of those that's three

save just like that I want to make sure that the ribbon covers up the edge of

that cardstock I'm being a little generous but I if he said today

I did get black ink right there didn't I okay now we're going to add the flour

and we're just going to use a little dot

this piece we're going to attach to the crushed curry with dimensionals I'm

adding four one on each corner and then one in the middle and here's my card

I'm going to add it just like that now someone asked me probably months ago

it's been a while since I've done one of these simply one-sheets what do I do

with my cards when I make them you know what this is actually going to be my

downline birthday card so my chick's paper aunt downline

members I'm going to use these cards I think they're very cute now the final

step for the card is going to be these amazing glitter enamel dots and I'm just

going to use my paper piercer and pick up one and I just want to make sure that

I stick it right in the middle because then the adhesive is super strong and

you won't be able to move it without demolishing your project okay so what

I'm going to do is finish coloring and I'll be back in just a minute okay now

here's our twelve by six piece of designer series paper we're going to

place it here on the simply scored scoring tool and again it's been a while

since you've seen it the here it is right here so we're going to score it on

the portrait side which is the six inch side at two inches and then we're going

to turn it on the twelve inch side and we're going to score it at one-inch

three and three-quarters six and a half and nine and a quarter

we're going to fold it on all the score lines okay that's not with them now

let's take our scissors and this section right here we're just going to remove

and just angle cut these don't forget the inspiration sheet with the template

for this bag and for the cars will be on my website it is free now what we're

going to do is put adhesive on this part right here that's going to be the back

of my bags so then this piece right here is the bottom of the front of my bag so

I'm going to put adhesive here and here now if you're going to put something

heavy in here you might want to consider using crushed curry cardstock the solid

cardstock instead of the designer series paper and then you could just cover the

cardstock with this DSP now you're going to do see that's the back just like I

just said so you're just going to squeeze just like that

and I am actually going to use our discontinued stapler you can use any

stapler you have in your possession they all work and then I'm going to take one

of our doilies love these things you just want to make sure that you don't

staple it in the middle because if you do then you won't be able to use your

hole punch I'm using the 1/8 circle punch and I

still need the crushed curry cardstock though you need a piece that measures 1

and 15 16 by 3 and 7/8 this is crushed curry and you're going to take the

banner triple punch and you just want to flag the end I'm going to add this right

here just like that and I'm going to come back over and reap unch so that

it's not going through a whole bunch of layers ok now I'm going to take the

crushed curry mini Chevron you can go this down if you want to it doesn't have

to be ok I have some pretty awesome giveaways that I'm going to be

announcing on my blog this week so make sure you check back on June 1st June 2nd

on my website ok now we're going to take the linen thread and just tie a bow

this stamp set comes with an image that also says why thank you instead of wild

about you so if you don't care for the wild about you which I like it I think

it's funny and I think that you can use it for anyone that you're close to okay

that part's done now scrap piece of waste we're going to be doing the same

thing we're going to stamp our image and then color it with the crushed curry

marker but we're going to cut this out with the layering know what are we

cutting it out with we're cutting it out with a stitch shaped framelits this one

measures i'll make sure it's on the screen I believe it's two and three

eighths because this is two and a half so yeah this is two and three eighths

I'm going to get the Big Shot I'll be right back okay so here's the Big Shot

magnetic platform cutting set I went ahead and colored my image while I was

getting the Big Shot so that's already again cutting out with a stitch shaped

framelit oh oh I completely forgot about my first cup there now we're going to

take the dazzling diamond card stock and cut out this two-and-a-half inch

scallop circle okay so here's my Cephas we're going to take our little flower

here I think I have like one good blue dot lift right it down there this is

just going to get attached with regular adhesive now I'm going to take

dimensional

okay so then now I'm just going to take the backing off of this and we're going

to add it right here and then the final step is we want to take the paper

piercer and add our little Gozer enamel these are on backorder but they will be

back in stock in a few weeks okay so here's my bag to the queue and then all

eight cards okay so if you have any questions let me know thanks a lot have

a great day bye

The Mysterious ANCIENT GIANTS Who RULED America - Duration: 7:26.

Are giants real?

At some point in our distant past, were there ancient people of enormous size that walked

the earth and dominated the planet as humans now do?

So much knowledge of the world's past has

been lost throughout the ages – some destroyed by war, some ruined by natural disasters,

some neglected by mankind's ignorance and lack of appreciation, and some simply disappeared

as a natural consequence of the passage of time.

But while much has been lost, much also remains to be discovered.

And the clues to answering questions like whether or not giants once existed on the

planet could actually be found in what lies beneath our feet.

In recent years, due to the number of mysterious

findings around the world supporting the idea that giants walked on earth a long, long time

ago, more and more people are seriously considering the possibility that these gigantic human-like

creatures are more than just mythological beings.

But before we go any further on the supposed archaeological evidences available supporting

the existence of ancient giants, let's briefly discuss the many old stories about enormous

beings that are treated today as nothing more as simple myths.

The Bible, in particular, references giants

several times in many of its sections.

For example, Genesis 6:4 in the King James Bible states: "There were giants in the

Earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters

of men, and they bore children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old,

men of renown."

In some translations of the Old Testament,

these "giants" are referred to as the "Nephilim," which some say are born from

the union between fallen angels and the descendants of Adam.

One more example of giants having been mentioned in the Bible is Goliath, the champion of the

Philistine army who engaged in a famous battle with David, as told in the Book of Samuel.

Ancient Greek mythology also made mention

of giants of prehistory – the titans.

As the story goes, the primordial goddess Gaea gave life to the titans, giants who roamed

the earth before the Olympians and mankind could.

However, the titans were eventually overthrown by the Olympians, and they had suffered terrible

fates of torture and oblivion.

Several Native American tribes have also passed

down legends of giants who were wiped out.

For one, the tradition of the Choctaw people spoke about a race of giants that once lived

in what is now the State of Tennessee in the United States.

Referred to as the Nahullo, the ancestors of the Choctaw came into contact with this

race of white giants when they first crossed the Mississippi River.

The Nahullo were said to be cannibals, and the Choctaw eliminated these giants when the

opportunity arose.

Other tribes like the Comanches, the Navajo,

and the Manta indigenous people also passed down stories of white giants that supposedly

inhabited different parts of the continent a long time ago.

Now that we're on the subject matter of

Native American tribes and their cultures, let's talk about the fact that the mound

sites found in North America – which are often related to these tribes – are believed

by some people to be the sacred burial mounds of the ancient giants that once existed in

the area.

Over 1,000 accounts of skeletons that stood at around seven-foot and taller have reportedly

been recovered from these ancient burial sites for over two hundred years of archaeological

exploration in the continent.

This is supported by a deluge of newspaper clippings, journal articles, diaries, photos

and ethnology reports that have largely documented the discovery of these skeletons.

The West Virginia Mounds, in particular, are believed by some people, in many respects,

to be the key to unlocking the real story behind the ancient giants who once ruled America.

In the book of Emmy Award-winning writer and researcher Richard Dewhurst, "The Ancient

Giants Who Ruled America," he claimed that in 1883, the Smithsonian dispatched a team

of archaeologists to the South Charleston Mound in West Virginia to conduct an extensive

dig of 50 mounds found in this location.

In their report, the team revealed that they have uncovered numerous giants, and one of

them was 7 feet and 6 inches tall.

In another mound, they also found another giant skeleton surrounded by a circle of ten

skeletons.

There was also a large skeleton found in the remains of a bark coffin, and it had a compressed

or flat-head type of skull.

  Archaeologists in Wheeling, West Virginia

also found a group of giants with heights ranging from 6 feet and 7 inches to 7 feet

and 6 inches.

These skeletons also showed unusual skull formations.

They had low foreheads "while the back part of the head is very prominent," features

which are noticeably different from the skulls of humans that exist today.

Dewhurst also revealed in his book that numerous finds of giants 8 to 10 feet tall were also

discovered across the state of Ohio.

For example, in a mound site in Chillicothe, dozens of skeletons were found wearing copper

masks, and at a related site in the same area, they also supposedly unearthed "a massive

skeleton" which was "encased in copper armor."

In another dig conducted in 1889 in Southern Ohio, a giant was found buried with the bones

of a panther, while another large skeleton with bone and shell beads imported from the

Atlantic Ocean was also unearthed.

The discoveries in Newark, Ohio also deserve

special mention, as the skeleton of an 8-foot-tall queen wearing copper jewelry and pearls was

reportedly found in this area.

In Centralia, another giant encased in copper armor was discovered, and a 7-feet-2-inch

giant skeleton was also uncovered in Cartersville.

Among the most crucial pieces of evidence in support of the theory that ancient giants

roamed America are the discoveries made in Wisconsin.

As first reported in the May 4, 1912 issue of the New York Times, at least 18 anomalous

skeletons had been found in Wisconsin and they exhibited extremely unusual features

that are supposedly nothing like any known species at present.

The excavation was overseen by the Beloit College and around 200 mounds were studied

in the process.

The anomalous skeletons retrieved from this area were allegedly bigger than men today,

with their heights ranging from 8 to 10 feet.

Despite the abundance in archaeological proof supporting the existence of giants, mainstream

science has, until now, stubbornly remined silent when it comes to affirming or recognizing

the theory that an ancient race of giants once inhabited different parts of the world,

particularly America.

And in Dewhurst's book, he claimed that the Smithsonian has been at the center of

a vast cover-up of America's true history since the 1880s, suppressing the discoveries

of giant skeletons found in many Native American burial mounds in the continent to avoid risking

putting the current theory of evolution into question.

There are even speculative rumors which suggest that the Smithsonian went so far as to not

only hide but also destroy evidence of giant skeletons in America.

The museum allegedly has the reputation of stepping in and taking unearthed skeletons

and relics for further research and analysis, only for these archaeological finds to never

be seen again.

Of course, those who believe in such "out-of-this-realm"

conspiracy theory often face ridicule from men and women of conventional science.

After all, it would be very difficult to prove that a cover-up actually happened without

overwhelming evidence that will convince skeptics that giants did exist in the first place.

But then again, how can we prove that giants once existed on the planet if there are forces

out there deliberately preventing people from knowing the truth?

Well, clearly, all of this is still a matter of intense debate.

The battle of proving whether there was once an advanced civilization of giants that spread

across the earth in a distant time where mankind was still in its primitive state still cannot

be won up to now.

And a definitive answer is still nowhere in sight either.

So, for the time being, we will have to weigh all available information about this subject

matter for ourselves, and provide a subjective and personal verdict on the merits of this

particularly mystery on our own.

If you ask me, I would say that the evidence

presented by those who believe in the existence of ancient giants is too substantial and overwhelming

to be completely discredited.

Moreover, aren't we limiting ourselves if we simply resent and resist other beliefs

and theories just because they go against what society and mainstream science expect

us – demand us – to hold true?

Perhaps that's another thing that we

should think about, too.

RAVEN ROCK THE US GOVERNMENT'S ONGOING PLAN TO SAVE ITSELF IN NUCLEAR WAR - Duration: 4:16.

RAVEN ROCK THE US GOVERNMENT'S ONGOING PLAN TO SAVE ITSELF IN NUCLEAR WAR

A new book has revealed that during the Cold War, the United States government considered

all possible outcomes of the nuclear arms race with Russia and genuinely believed that

a nuclear strike by the Soviet Union was a real possibility.

In response, the government had nuclear bunkers constructed underneath the earth all around

the country, but these bunkers were not created to protect the American people.

Garrett M. Graff in his new book Raven Rock: The Story of the US Governments Secret

Plan to Save Itself claims that all of the administrations in the years of the Cold

War were well aware that Russia could annihilate the population of the United States if they

decided to launch a nuclear strike.

While they told the people that they believed that a nuclear strike was survivable, they

realized that there was no way that they could viably protect the population.

Graff writes that their conclusion was to ensure that they could protect themselves

while leaving the rest of the country to their fate.

Secretly, the government set about building some facilities inside Americas mountains

that were capable of surviving a nuclear blast.

There were also a huge number of renovations made to the White House and all of the staff

members were issued with gas masks.

It is alleged that Roosevelt had his gas mask on hand at all times as it was attached to

his wheelchair.

A bunker was also built underneath the lawn of the White House which was capable of housing

100 people in the event of a nuclear strike.

While this secret bunker was never actually used in the course of the Cold War, it was

opened and occupied during September 11th to ensure the safety of the President and

key personnel.

In addition to the bunker underneath the White House, the government also constructed several

other nuclear-proof facilities.

One is located at Raven Rock in Pennsylvania and is believed to be linked to Camp David

by a secret tunnel.

In addition to the famous facility in Colorado Springs which is operated by NORAD there are

also two facilities located in Peters Mountain and Mount Weather (both in Virginia) which

are designated to house top officials of the US government and 6500 other individuals who

are considered essential to rebuild the country in the event of a disaster.

In his book, Graff also reveals the extent to which the United States was prepared to

destroy Russia in a nuclear war.

The Pentagon is alleged to have drawn up a list of forty-nine Russian cities that they

would destroy in the event of a nuclear war to completely paralyze the Soviet Union.

It was this report that set in process the arms race between the United States and the

Soviet Union.

At the time it was written, the United States had only thirteen nuclear warheads.

Now the country is in possession of an astonishing 6800 nuclear weapons.

(Airsoft) Unboxing the HK45 Tactical Tokyo Marui - Duration: 12:03.

Thanks to them !

Hello YouTube, welcome to this new Unboxing video !

Today I show you the HK45 Tactical from Tokyo Marui

It comes from Impulse101 where it's available for 17380 yens, which is about 145 euros

This is a "tactical" variant of the HK45 I already showed on my channel

I really like the HK45 Marui and I decided to buy this model in order to build myself a hybrid between the two versions (more about that later)

Here is the box and now the inside of the box

We have the gun of course, we have the silencer, which comes with the HK45 Tactical, a magazine

We have a backstrap here (small), which point is to make the grip a bit smaller if you need

The gun comes with a threaded barrel on which you can screw the silencer, or the thread protector which also comes with the gun

The gun comes with a FDE color body, I don't think any other color is available right now

I prefer the black version, so in the end I'll use the upper of this version on the lower of the original HK45

As usual the packaging is really cool, it looks awesome and it also protects the products well

The booklet is under the polystyrene here

Let's put the silencer... The thread is 16 mm CW

And here is the HK45 Tactical

So, where to begin... What is the HK45 ? A pistol from H&K, basically the grandson of the MK23

It's a full size pistol chambered for the .45 ACP, which has a low capacity of only 10 rounds

In comparison a FN FNX45 carries 15 rounds of .45 ACP

The HK45 actually carries less cartridges than the USP (12 cartridges), which seems odd

I would assume that H&K made the choice to make the gun as comfortable as possible to hold, and the grip indeed feels very nice in the hand

I really like the ergonomics of the gun, which is one of the reason why I used it a lot in games

Also, in airsoft, having the replica of a double stack .45 pistol comes with an advantage : big magazines, which carry a lot of gas

So this is the HK45 Tactical, I brought the original HK45 so we can make a comparison, we'll see the few differences

The most obvious one of the color, black for the original, FDE for the tactical

The HK45 Tactical comes with a threaded barrel

We have an ambidextrous safety lever on the tactical model, it's only on the left side on the original

Which is actually something I prefer on the original model, I don't like the ambidextrous lever, especially when you want to decock the hammer

On the HK45, you have a safety you can put on whether the hammer is armed or not

And when the hammer is armed, pushing down the lever decocks the hammer

Very easy to do with the original HK45

But on the tactical model, my finger gets in the way of the lever, which doesn't make it as easy to use

It's not a big deal I guess, but between the two versions I prefer the non ambidextrous one

Another little detail : the rear sight, both models doesn't share the same one

You could think that the tactical model has higher sights, for easier use with a silencer on

But actually it doesn't, the sights are the same height on both models, despite the rear sight difference

It's possible to aim with the silencer on though

But why the rear sight is different... I'm not sure to have an answer

A little detail I like on the HK45 : here you have the typical H&K ambidextrous paddle mag release

I like to use my index finger to use it, feels natural enough to me

If you push the paddle very briefly, the mag will move just a little bit and will stay blocked inside the grip

I'm not sure to know if it's made on purpose or not, but the good thing is that if the paddle is pressed by accident, it lowers the chances you'll lose your mag on the field

Also, it's possible to adjust the hop up without removing the slide

The wheel is just here, you can adjust it with your finger, assuming it's thin enough

To disassembly the slide : remove the magazine, pull the slide and remove the slide release lever

Easier to move the wheel this way

A last detail on the HK45 : on a real HK45, the slide release lever makes contact with the slide just here

Since the real one has steel parts it's no big deal, but on this airsoft version, a metal part on a plastic slide wouldn't be a good thing

So on this Marui model, the "external" slide release lever doesn't actually act as a slide stop ; what actually blocks the slide is this internal part

It works as good and it doesn't damage the slide

A last difference between the two models : the external barrel

Apart from the threaded barrel, you can tell that the base of the barrel on the tactical model is a bit different

I'm not sure to understand what it does, but I'm going to assume it's here to assure a better cycling when you use the silencer

Marui acknowledged the fact that putting a silencer on will put more stress on the barrel and they did something about it

In general, when you put a silencer on your GBB it's not going to work as well, it will need more energy to cycle the slide

We'll see in the shooting video how it performs

I guess I said everything I had to say about the HK45 Tactical, which doesn't have a lot of differences with the original HK45 I alreadt own

A GBB I really like, good out of the box performances, good cool down resistance, nice kick, feels very comfortable in the hand

Now with this "tactical" model you have the possibility to make it a bit more fancy

The silencer itself is made of metal, yet it's still very light

There is foam inside

Of course, it's still a GBB, it makes a lot of sound from the blowback itself, putting a silencer isn't going to make it a lot more discreet

In Airsoft, silencers mostly work on NBB and bolt sniper rifles

But GBB, with or without silencers, always make a lot of sound

Thanks for watching and see you next time for the shooting video !

The secrets of Paris – Episode 4: A pendulum, a surprise visit in the Banlieue and an Alsatian dish - Duration: 20:16.

Paris has woken up under a warm sun and a beautiful blue sky and we're on the Île de la cité again

not to visit Notre-Dame this time - that we can admire anyway in the beautiful morning light -

but because from the Île de la cité you can easily walk to the area of Paris with the Pantheon

which will open in just a few minutes.

We are in the Latin quarter to be exact

and it's on Sainte Geneviève hill that we can find this neo-classic building that was modelled on the Pantheon in Rome

with its distinctive dome.

But there are several remarkable buildings here in the Latin quarter

and just opposite the Pantheon we can find one of the Sorbonne university buildings

with its Law Department and a research institute.

The gates have just been opened and we're ready to visit this Parisian monument

full of art and several surprises.

The first of these surprises is the famous 67-meter Foucault pendulum hanging just under the dome.

The French physicist demonstrated the rotation of the Earth in 1851 thanks to this pendulum

even though this is just a copy, while the original pendulum can be found in the Musée des Arts et Métiers.

But besides this instrument of scientific interest, the Pantheon is full of works of art

like the commemorative sculptures, but mostly frescos

many of which portray Saint Geneviève, the patron saint of Paris

that the Pantheon was dedicaded to, built originally as a church and then converted into a mausoleum.

But there are some frescos that are dedicated to other important personalities of French history

like Joan of Arc whose story is told here through 8 paintings.

The first one portrays her as a young shepherdess in the moment the Archangel Michael

convinces her to fight in the Hundred Years' War for France,

while in the last one she is represented in the moment she is burned at the stake at the age of 19 for having worn men's clothes.

It's time to move on to the underground level of the Pantheon which is, as we said, a mausoleum.

And it's right here that we find the tombs of important personalities

that gave their contribution to French politics, literature, science, philosophy and art.

This is, for example, Rousseau's tomb, the philosopher who believed that each one of us is born good because closer to nature and that it's society that corrupts us.

And it's with these ideas that Rousseau gave his big contribution to pedagogy.

Here we can find Voltaire's tomb instead with a statue that represents this writer, historian and philosopher.

Voltaire was one of the most important spokesperson of French Enlightenment

who was critical of religious dogma, enemy of the established Catholic Church

and advocate of freedom of speech and of separation of church and state.

We leave Voltaire and we continue our tour of the underground level of the Pantheon

and after a few steps we come across the tomb of the architect himself that designed this building, Jacques-Germain Soufflot

and not far from it, Marat's tomb, journalist and radical politician of the French Revolution.

But the list of French personalities or of personalities adopted by France that gave their contribution to this nation and even to the rest of the world is still long.

For example, here we find the tombs of a married couple:

Pierre Curie, a French physicist married the Polish physicist and chemist Maria Skłodowska

who would become famous to the rest of the world as Marie Curie.

Thanks to their research on radioactivity they won a Nobel prize in 1903.

Marie was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize

and also the first person to win twice

since she won a second one for chemistry in 1911.

And then we have Jean Monnet, supporter of European unity,

often defined as the father of the European Union.

Alexandre Dumas, writer and author of famous novels like The Count of Monte Cristo and The Three Musketeers.

Victor Hugo whose most famous novels are Les Misérables and The Hunchback of Notre-Dame.

And leaving French literature aside for the moment,

we also find the tomb, with a commemorative bust, of Louis Braille

who, blinded as a result of an early childhood accident, would invent the system of reading for the visually impaired, known as "Braille".

We have an example of it here with an inscription dedicated to "the one who opened the doors of knowledge to all those who cannot see".

And with the tomb of this important French educator and inventor, we end our visit to the Pantheon

and we go back up.

Yes, because we could go up to the dome

but only if we buy an extra ticket that's not even that cheap.

Since we've had more than one chance to admire Paris from above,

we decide to look for a place where to eat considering that it's lunchtime and we're quite hungry.

We're behind the Pantheon on a street that starts as rue Descartes and then becomes rue Mouffetard

and we have plenty of options to choose from here

because we can find restaurants of practically all nationalities.

There are Japanese restaurants that offer an all you can eat buffet,

restaurants with Breton cuisine that offer the typical crêpes of this French region,

there's also the Vegan Folies for those who look for or want to try vegan cuisine,

the Oulala, despite its name, is an Italian restaurant and pizzeria as you can clearly deduce from this barrel by the door with the colors of the Italian flag,

while the Île de Crete offers Greek dishes and presumably from the Island of Crete

and there are of course Asian cuisine restaurants like this one with a promising name: Delicious Chinese Restaurant.

And then Lebanese restaurants and sandwich places,

Spanish restaurants like the Casa Pepe where you can try the typical paella,

some Mexican restaurants for those who are in the mood for burritos, tacos or quesadillas,

restaurants with the really spicy Indian cuisine

and even a Vietnamese restaurant that has taken its name from the movie "Good morning Vietnam"

also translated here as "Bonjour Vietnam"

So it's really hard to make up your mind

and we decide to have a sandwich in this sandwich and crêpe place, since we're a bit anxious to continue our tour.

And while a bizarre guy is roaming around these streets wearing a Superman cape,

we leave the Pantheon area and start heading towards our next destination of the day

that's not too far from here.

And here we are !

This is the entrance to the Jardin du Luxembourg, the Luxembourg garden

created in 1612 by Marie de' Medici, the widow of King Henry IV of France,

who wanted a palace here, as her new residence, in imitation of the Pitti Palace in her native Florence.

Today this palace belongs to the French senate that meets here periodically,

while the park is for those who want to come jogging or relax in a sunny day like today.

There are gravel paths everywhere for a nice stroll

and wide green lawns with statues of all kinds.

There are playgrounds for kids

and even one of the three replicas of the Statue of Liberty of Paris.

The first one is by the pont de Grenelle on the Seine,

the second one built on the occasion of the Exposition Universelle of 1900 stands at the entrance to the Musée d'Orsay

while the third one is right here in the Jardin du Luxembourg.

And for those who enjoy sports, there are also several tennis courts for some training or a game between friends.

The little ones, instead, can ride a pony around the park

or, if they want, they can sail their little toy boats on the waters of the wide pond that is right in the middle of the park.

We leave the colorful little sails and their dance with the wind and we start looking for the Medici Fountain,

maybe the most famous work of art of the park

that, built initially as a grotto, fell into disrepair and then was restored

and the statue of the giant Polyphemus discovering the lovers Acis and Galatea was added to this work of art.

And with this 400 years old fountain our visit to the Jardin du Luxembourg comes to an end

and just after a few blocks we get to our next destination.

We're at the Church of Saint-Sulpice.

This church is definitely known to those who have read Dan Brown's novel "The Da Vinci Code"

where there's a reference to its famous astronomical gnomon,

a device built to determine precisely the equinox and consequently the date of Easter.

A small round opening with a little lens was created in the southern window to project sunlight on the brass meridian line

that runs across the floor and along a marble obelisk.

At noon on the winter solstice the ray of light falls on the meridian on the obelisk

while at noon during the equinoxes it falls on a copper disk by the altar.

Before leaving Saint-Sulpice, we admire its beautiful Great Organ that, considering it's 18 meters high, is one of the largest instruments in France.

We come out onto Saint-Suplice square with Saint-Sulpice fountain right in the middle

and from here we can admire the front façade of the Church of Saint-Sulpice.

It's time to leave Saint-Sulpice though and take the subway at Saint-Sulpice station,

because we have a mission to accomplish

and also because we've had enough of all these Saint-Sulpice's.

We're on line 7 and we're headed to Villejuif in the Banlieu, the suburbs of Paris

and more precisely we're looking for the commune of Vitry-sur-Seine where an aunt of mine who moved to Paris many years ago lives

and where she's spent practically all her life.

It's a surprise visit because she doesn't know we are here

and even if we feel a bit lost in this area that's so different from downtown Paris

we're able to get to our destination thanks to my gps system.

This is the street. Now we have to find number 25. Let's go.

And so we start exploring each one of the small houses on this little country road

but our research comes quickly to an end because with a perfect timing, we run into her in the very moment she's leaving her home,

which means that, If we had come a few minutes later, we wouldn't have found her home.

We walk up to her and we start a conversation in a mix of Italian, French and "ciociaro" dialect.

- Good evening ! - Hello !

Where on earth did you spring from?

We've just dropped by for a quick visit and then we're leaving.

It's just that I was going over to a cousin's.

Where are you coming from ?

We've been three days here in Paris

This is Carmine

We came to visit the city and tomorrow we're going back home.

Oh ok.

Let's go home for a couple of minutes now

Yes, just a couple of minutes because we can't stay too long

Yes, me too to be honest. I wanted to go to the cemetery

which is by my aunt's home, 1.5 km from here. It's not very close.

And you're walking there ?

Yes, I'll walk.

And so she has to go back because of us and going through her yard, where we meet her beautiful cat,

we walk into her suburban little house full of memories of a life spent here

and where we spend several minutes chatting and catching up.

A tour to show us her home is in order

and in her bedroom we end up traveling through several generations on her family tree.

That's your son Patrice ? He was a marksman ?

No, that's my husband.

Oh yes. My god, he looks exactly like Patrice.

I hardly remember Patrice.

Listen, that's my husband's father

Those are grandpa "sergeant" and grandma Teresa

Here are...

This is my son Franco

You held him in your arms when he was little

Sure ! That's what I said to Carmine before. When he was little, I looked after him.

And here's my husband.

Yes.

It's been a quick but intense visit.

A ride of a few kilometers to the Banlieu

that turned into a trip back in time of several decades.

But it's time to go back to the present and especially to the center of Paris.

Bye !

So we take the metro again from Villejuif and in just a few minutes we are in the district of Les Halles

where it's raining and where there was once a wholesale market, now replaced by the Forum des Halles,

that hosts the largest urban train station of Europe

and a big shopping mall.

You can find anything here and, besides the numerous stores,

there's also the Forum des Images, a cultural institution dedicated to the cinema and the audiovisual world

with shows, events and festivals all year round.

And there's also a multiplex cinema where you can choose among 27 movies at a time

and an indoor pool where you can swim even on rainy days like this one.

And since it's been raining non stop,

we've lingered in here away from the rain as long as possible

exploring every corner of the Forum.

But it's almost dinnertime and so we start looking for a place where to eat on our last night in Paris.

We choose the Flam's,

one of the restaurants belonging to a French chain

where we can try another specialty of traditional French cuisine.

We're at Flam's, a restaurant that serves a typical specialty from the Alsace region,

so we'll have a typical Alsatian dish called Flammekueche

that was made by bakers when, as they were making bread, they would take a chunk of its dough

to taste it, before it rose and became actual bread.

At that point, they would spread the dough out, they would bake it and would add some toppings.

And that's how the Flammekueche was born.

Here you can choose the buffet or the "partagé" menu

which means that you can order one of more Flammekueche to share with everyone at the table.

It's just been served.

This is "à partager", so we'll cut it in two and share it.

Now that it's been split, it's time to try this dish that kind of looks like a pizza.

We took the traditional Alsatian one,

that is the most basic, without any variations,

that is made with bacon, onions and... that's it. Bacon and onions.

So let's see what the Flammekueche called "the authentic traditional" tastes like.

- Your first impression ? - Good ! Good !

So maybe we should order another one.

We took another one with mushrooms.

So after a second Flammekueche

and chatting with the kind and funny staff of the restaurant,

we go back to the rainy streets of Paris

with a specific mission in mind:

get to the Eiffel tower before 10pm

for a reason that we'll find out in a bit.

Along the way, we go take a look at the Louvre Palace again,

practically deserted at this time of the evening and in this awful weather,

but that, for this very reason, is even more suggestive

with its glass pyramid lit by a warm light in stark contrast with the cold grey of this cloudy sky.

We walk along rue de Rivoli again

that, even if the lights are still out, is lit anyway by the yellow and red headlight reflections on the wet asphalt.

We find again the Roue de Paris, the ferry wheel of the city that, like all the other monuments and buildings of Paris,

has worn its dazzling night gown now that the night has fallen.

We cross Place de la Concorde again

with its beautiful fountains and its monumental obelisk.

We walk along the Champs-Elysées

on which a vast carpet of lights has been rolled out at this time of the evening

that is slowly flowing towards the Arc de Triomphe.

And finally we get to her, the Queen of the city of lights, the Eiffel tower

that is waiting for us on the other side of the Seine, when we have only a few minutes left before the clock strikes 10.

So from the Field of Mars gardens at her feet, we wait

and when the time comes, the Eiffel tower says goodbye to us this way,

writing with her lights the end of this wonderful trip.

Confetti, Cocktails & Car Damage | andthenIfellinlove Tales & Travels - Duration: 19:51.

It doesn't even work.

No, I'm too "tired".

Do you wanna race? We'll warm up then.

Yes, but I'm cold still.

No. - OK. - Wait then.

Till there and back. - Yes.

Wait, I have to get in shoulder-deep. - Wait, I have to put in a ponytail.

Hey, wait!

Oh, you're going back!

What do I hear near the wheel?

I hear something near the wheel.

Do we need to stop?

I don't know.

I don't hear anything. - What do you hear?

Yes, just like *weird sound*.

Right or left. We can go to Dalfsen.

Yes. I believe you go into that direction eventually...

They're a bit too small.

Yes, I had other ones too.

I like the black ones.

Bless you.

What do you think of those plastic water bags. I see them at times, and I think that's not convenient when you ...

I've got one. - Really? What do you think of it?

It's super "goat" to clean.

I wanted to say another word, but I'm vlogging.

Making decisions is hard right now.

I hear something near the wheel.

Do we need to stop?

I curious to see what Nicky'll say. It can be paid with from the (money) jar?

It may come from the (money) jar.

The (money) jar isn't that much anymore.

So we're not going out tonight.

Yes, not going out.

Yes, I'm trying.

Oh, it says lease cars.

Hello, I'd preferred this one.

Which one? - Sorry, Jay. - This one.

If you showed your boobs, we might've had more luck.

Yes, I thought that...

No, Phylicia asked: "Will you drive us there," so.

Yes. - Phy, can you move up, please?

Yes.

Do we have the aux cable with us? - Yes.

Do you want it?

Well, yes, seems to be fun.

Well, OK.

Well, new caw; New adventures.

We did have issues with the car, but oh well.

It ... starts slower, people.

Oh well. A little three cylinder. - I'm just saying.

It's a smaller car.

Can the AC be turned on?

Yes, the AC can be turned on.

Put it on blast.

Put it on the coldest (setting).

16:30 / 4:30 PM.

Especially for Shar.

Eat deliciously.

Where are they?

Wow, those can go far. - Yes, man.

Well, I got wet feet.

Did you get both water balloons?

No, you know? Phy sat there.

And Sharon sat here, but I saw here through the window. - Smarty pants. - Yes.

I saw Phy. Phy came like...

No, I saw Shar like...

Really the best.

Shar, I only did one spray at you.

Where's the other one?

What are you doing? - Where's the other one? Where's the other one?

Where's the other one?

Sharon wants to go to the beach. (?)

Where's the other one?

Where's the other one?

We only had two. - In their room. In their room. - Yes.

Hey, what are you doing in our room?

Phy, you're invading our privacy.

Guys, there was one bucket with water balloons. The other ones broke. We don't have more.

We also have water pistols. One is outside if you want it.

Outside. Near my smoking area. - Leave the sister room.

Do you believe it?

No. - I believe it. - It's really true.

We really don't have more. This afternoon when I was really bored... - Look at the bucket.

What bucket. - It stands here. - This bucket.

Where's the other one?

Oh, here.

Yes, my water pistol is empty. I'm not gonna shoot anymore. It's been fun.

No, it just started.

No, I'm really not going.

I'm gonna lay in bed.

Me too.

Well, such a fun adventure that was, right girls?

Just kidding, it's empty.

Oh, it doesn't even work.

Oh, now it does.

No!

My phone lays there!

My camera is here!

No, my flip flops!

Yes.

That's really %#*&.

Don't spray. I'm making my flip flop.

If you do that....

... I'm going to spray your head tonight.

Wait till I'm wearing it.

Three, two, one...

Ouch, my foot!

No, %#*&, my hair shouldn't be wet.

Mine is empty. - Wait, putting on my flip flop. Pause.

Almost.

I don't have water anymore.

Girls, are you ready? I'm getting into the car.

Bye!

My Uterus Has An IUD (Pt.2) - Duration: 5:49.

So didn't anticipate not wanting to reach for my camera

at all during this appointment.

Vlogging was the last thing on my mind

when I got into the doctor's office.

So I'm going to tell you about my IUD

story of getting it.

I'm also going to be eating my breakfast.

So I got my IUD Thursday, the 15th.

My boyfriend took me to the doctors at like 9 in the morning.

I waited in the waiting room for like 45 minutes.

And then I went in, they gave me this

like paper dress to wear because I also had to get a pap smear.

So my doctor's really great, she discussed

everything that we were going to be doing with me.

I laid down on my back, I had to scoot my butt to the very edge

and put my feet in the straps.

Which that is the most unnatural position

I have ever been put in.

So she got that clamp thing, I don't

remember what it was called.

But it opens your vagina up.

She put that in, that felt fine.

She did the pap smear.

I didn't feel that whatsoever.

And I think that has to do with

some nerve damage I probably have in my vagina.

But the kind of confirmed it a bit for me.

Then we were getting ready for the IUD.

So the first thing she had to do for my IUD

is she had to, she had to look at my cervix

and then dilate it.

That was painful but it wasn't unbearable.

It was an uncomfortable kind of pain.

When she dilated it, she told me "you're going to feel

period cramps right now."

And as soon as she said that, I felt period cramps.

It felt like just a pretty bad period.

I also felt like I had to poop.

Which when I'm on my period, that's a feeling I always have.

But it wasn't too bad.

After she did that,

she told the nurse to give her the Skyla box

because that's the IUD I picked.

Mind you Skyla is like this big

and the box that it came in was like this big.

And even sh- like I guess I made a face

and she laughed at me, she's like "I know,

I don't understand why they put it in such a big box."

So she got the IUD out and

she told me the worse pain is over

from when she dilated me but

it wasn't really that painful for me.

But she said this is going to hurt a little bit.

So she put the IUD in,

that pain was also very uncomfortable.

But it wasn't excruciating.

I was just doing breathing stuff like I normally do

to handle pain.

It was just so uncomfortable

and I could feel my uterus just not wanting things

to be done to it.

Uh, after she put it in she cut the strings.

Because you have little strings hanging in your vagina

close to your cervix.

She told me my body was going to have cramps and contractions.

And oh boy was she right.

So the whole insertion of the IUD

was not that painful for me.

But the period cramps and the contractions

that came the rest of the day sucked.

It would fluctuate for me, I would feel fine

and then I would get very bad contractions.

I would feel fine and then again bad contractions.

And it was the most annoying thing.

My boyfriend had to go and get me medicine.

I did spot for a little bit

and then the next day I didn't really bleed or anything.

And then um...

the day after that I started bleeding.

Which is normal, apparently you do spot and bleed

for a while, sometimes for months.

Uh cramps are also normal.

So I was getting still cramps after that.

And now I'm on my period.

So I don't know if I'm still bleeding

from getting the IUD.

But I'm definitely on my period.

And that's pretty much it for me, I have a 1 month appointment.

Next month so she can check and make sure everything is good.

I'm hoping uh skyla gets rid of my period

for a while because that's apparently a thing.

But I'm happy.

Uh my mental state, the day after

I got the IUD

I felt such a difference.

My head started feeling clear,

I started just feeling happy again.

And feeling like me.

You know I told my boyfriend that I still have anxiety

I still have depression but

the problem was when I was on the patch

my coping mechanisms to get through my anxiety

to get through my depression that I personally use

they weren't working and that was hard

on the patch, it was hard to do and deal with my mental state

but so far being on this IUD

all of my ways to get through my anxiety

and my depression, they have been working.

And I just feel free.

I chose Skyla which is a low hormone IUD

and since it's low hormone it's just centralized in my uterus.

It's not going anywhere else, which is fantastic.

But that's my IUD...experience.

I think it wasn't extremely painful like everyone told me it was going to be

probably because I'm disabled.

I have a higher pain tolerance than most people.

So I think why it wasn't painful for me

is because I've felt way worse pain than getting an IUD.

Honestly my brain surgery was the worst pain I've ever had.

So the IUD was just...it was still painful

but it was uncomfortable.

And it wasn't like I couldn't deal with it.

But that's it, if you have any other questions

about my experience with my IUD

the type of IUD I chose,

let me know in the comments below.

And if you got an IUD whether it be Mirena, Skyla or the copper one

let me know your experience with it.

How do you feel after getting it?

That's it, I barely touched my breakfast

so I'm going to get to eating this.

And I will see all of you next time.

Bye!

Oh! Also I'm at Vidcon when you see this video

so if you're at Vidcon and you see me

come say hi.

And if you wanna support my channel

the links to how to do that are down in the description below.

Okay now actually good bye!

Jessi Cruickshank Takes a Body Break With Hal Johnson and Joanne McCleod | CBC Life - Duration: 3:49.

I often lose sleep at night thinking, what ever happened to Hal Johnson and Joanne McLeod

of Body Break

Running is one of the most convenient and inexpensive aerobic activities and to Hal

that's really important.

So recently I found their website and I emailed them, and not only are they alive and well,

they invited me to their house

And I hope they are wearing full body tracksuits because I am

Hi... hi!!!

Oh my god

Hi

Body Break was like such a huge part of my childhood

I actually am very starstruck right now

They taught me how to keep fit and have fun

This is so lovely

I have so many questions for you

So, you were like the Kendall Jenner and Harry Styles of your generation, people were always

wondering, like are they dating, are they colleagues

Would you care to make an official statement?

Yea, we were dating before we started the show and then we got married

Why was your relationship status so shrouded in mystery?

Well it wasn't, we just don't come on and we only have 90 seconds and we're not saying

"Hey we're married!"

And you have an 18 year old daughter

Yes

I am so jealous of her

There is good that comes with it, but there's baggage too

That you know, she is considered sometimes the Body Break kid

Was there ever any controversy because you were an interracial couple?

Oh yes

Well there was, I mean we were told by one of the networks that because I'm black and

Joanne is white, they didn't want to have us have the show on

Wow

Where is now it's very common

You've been together for 29 years, have you ever cheated

On your diets?

We don't have diets

It shouldn't be a diet, it should just be a way of living

A lifestyle

Whether it's a banana

Or a yam, this is just part of what you eat

Do you want me to eat your banana, Hal?

No, that's up to you

Unrelated, do you know what happened to Richard Simmons?

No I don't

No, I've been following that story

Apparently he's fine

Do you all know each other?

No, no

[LAUGHTER]

In these Body Breakless times, people listen to celebrities for their health and fitness

advice, so I'm going to tell you some things that celebrities are doing or promoting

You tell me if it's Body Break or Gimme a Break

Gwyneth Paltrow says we should all get regular vaginal steams

I heard about that, I would say gimme a break

Gimme a break?

Hal, do you get regular vaginal steams?

I have no comment on this subject matter, thank you very much

That's fair, we'll move on

The Kardashians are paid advocates for waist training, wearing a corset or girdle to make

your waist slimmer

Gimme a break

And they seem to wear them really tight, and you just wonder about the organs

Are you wearing a girdle right now?

Not right now, no no, later on though

When Rihanna is hungover, she gets hooked up to an intravenous vitamin drip

Gimme a break

First of all she shouldn't be hungover

I'd like to see you say that to Rihanna's face

I don't think she's thinking of her future self

Do you ever say to yourselves, f*** this, let's just get fat and old together

No

Hal, Joanne, thank you

Well thanks for coming to our home

And until next time, keep fit and have fun!

Did that just happen?

[LAUGHTER]

What Challenges Can Arise During An Escrow? - Duration: 5:14.

Hello everybody.

Thank you for coming to our weekly video blog here at California Realty Training.

Robert Rico here hoping to share some great information with you so that your real estate career

can hopefully take off as soon as you get that real estate license.

Listen, today we're going to talk about one thing that's well not the best topic in the

world, it's not the most exciting topic in the world, but it's extremely crucial, and

it's what can possibly go wrong during an escrow.

Oh, what could possibly go wrong during an escrow?

We don't even want to think about that.

Why, because it's negativity, but sometimes, every now and then, something does go wrong

with an escrow.

We don't want that.

We want these escrows to run as smooth as possible because the smoother they run, the

more sleep you get.

The more sleep you get, the happier you are.

So this is the deal, we want to keep these escrows together, but occasionally, the keyword

here is occasionally, something does come along and puts a huge dent on this transaction,

on this escrow.

Let me first talk about escrow in general.

What is escrow?

I want you to use my definition, or think of my definition.

Escrow, if you look at a textbook escrow definition it will be this long.

My definition shorter, simpler, makes sense.

Ready?

A neutral third party that protects the integrity of the transaction.

Done.

A neutral third party that protects the integrity of the transaction.

Now here's the deal.

Everybody's working diligently.

The buyer's side, the seller's side, the escrow, the neutral third party, all three, the lender,

and all these people involved.

Inspectors, all these people involved are working diligently to keep this thing together,

an escrow together.

The neutral third party that protects the integrity of the transaction.

We're all trying to keep this transaction together.

Rolling along, rolling along, rolling along.

Everything's going good, of course trying to get to that finish line, close the deal,

get paid.

Occasionally, there's a bump in the road, and typically it's these two things that go

wrong.

Number one, the loan that the buyer was preapproved for goes haywire.

Oh, that kills me, but occasionally that happens.

The lender will preapprove the buyer.

Yup, the buyer is good to go.

The buyer can't afford a million dollars, oh I'm finding a house for a million bucks

unless that preapproval letter somehow, someway no longer has validity.

That buyer either I don't know lost his job, the buyer's FICO score, credit score, dipped

dramatically which now he no longer qualifies for the loan that we thought he would qualify.

Things can happen with that loan that will destroy his capability of buying a house.

That will kill the deal.

The second form of an escrow going south, meaning killing an escrow, or can have a substantial

effect on an escrow and give us horrible nightmares where we can't sleep at night.

We're still hoping, and hoping, and hoping that we can get to end, but it will be trouble

for some, but you can do it is occasionally ... I want you to understand this, the buyer

does have a right to have a home inspection.

So the buyer goes into this house, let's assume this room is the house, the buyer goes into

this house, no not the buyer.

The buyer hires an inspector, the inspector goes into this house and checks the house

upside down, over, goes into the house, the roof, does all of his inspection of this house,

and the buyer gets the report.

The buyer reviews the report and the report has a substantial amount of issues with the

house.

The report here, the inspector's report, says hey this house has a substantial amount of

issues.

The roof is leaking, the foundation is cracked, yada, yada, yada.

The buyer is concerned now.

Do I really want this house?

Is it worth buying this house?

Based on this inspection report the buyer has the right to back out.

To say hey, give me back my initial deposit.

We don't want that to happen.

That's the last thing we want.

The last thing we want is to cancel an escrow.

So it's your job as a realtor to think reasonable.

To say hey buyer, I understand there's issues, let's see if we can somehow come to a meeting

of the minds and fix this.

How about if the buyer requests the seller, hey seller, how are you doing, hey seller

would you mind repairing these crucial items that my inspector found wrong with the house.

That's where you as a realtor come in, you start negotiating.

Now these are the two most common things as to why an escrow would go south, or make it

very, very difficult giving us sleepless nights, and you do need your beauty sleep.

So we want to avoid lending issues.

We want to avoid inspection issues.

It's going to be your job as a realtor to think strong, to think reasonable, to think

professional, and do what, keep it together.

Ladies and gentleman, hope you learned something today.

Making a Strip-Built Kayak - Glassing the Hull Exterior - E9 - Duration: 10:32.

Hi, I'm Nick Schade at Guillemot Kayaks.

Welcome to Episode 9 of my series on building Petrel Play, a cedar-strip kayak.

In the last episode I fit the recessed coaming into the deck.

Observant viewers may have noticed the hull already fiberglassed in the background of

some of the video, but I'm actually doing the glassing in this episode.

I have shuffled the timing a bit just to keep similar tasks together.

There is no definitive order of steps for a project like this.

A lot depends on your personal schedule and when you have time to take on a particular

step.

Back in episode 7 I finished sanding out the hull and it was ready for fiberglassing.

Other than removing the unglassed deck, I have not touched the hull since I finished

sanding.

While the deck did not have any fiberglass on it, I was able to just lift it off and

place it aside.

People are often intimidated by the prospect of fiberglassing.

It is probably different than any other project you have done, but it is really just systematically

making fabric wet.

After sanding the wood should be smooth and free of any splinters or snags.

In the best of all possible worlds I would have a couple extra hands to help hold the

cloth off the boat while I rolled it out so I was assured the cloth was smooth and straight.

But its just me so I carefully roll the cloth down the length of the kayak.

I roll the cloth on a slight diagonal, starting with the left edge of the roll close to the

sheer line and finishing with the right edge near the sheer.

This sets the weave of the fabric on a slight bias relative to the keel and other sharp

features and helps the cloth drape more easily.

While trimming the length I detour down the side a bit to conserve of the wider excess

on that side for future use.

When the cloth is smooth and wrinkle free while dry it should end up smooth and wrinkle

free while wet.

Major wrinkles can be carefully pulled out by giving the cloth a gentle tug.

Remaining small wrinkles can be transported to the edge using a dry chip brush.

Pay attention to the yarn direction in the weave.

Wrinkles move along the yarns perpendicular to the orientation of the wrinkles.

Aim for the closest edge along the yarns.

An hour or so before I came into the shop this morning I turned the heat up to about

85 degrees Fahrenheit or 30 Celsius.

I want the wood, fiberglass and epoxy warm.

Warm epoxy is lower viscosity or runnier which means it soaks into the fabric quicker.

Like most chemical reactions, epoxy cures faster the warmer it is.

So, this means you want to make small batches and get them on the boat quickly.

I thoroughly mix a 4 to 8 ounce batch of epoxy and pour it directly on the bottom.

Since epoxy generates its own heat as it cures, spreading it out in a thin layer will slow

down the cure.

I use a plastic squeegee to spread out the puddle along the horizontal surface.

I'm not trying to scrape the liquid off, just make the puddle more uniform on a one or two

foot section of the bottom.

I then pull resin from this reservoir puddle down onto the side.

These plastic squeeges have two slightly different sides, the moulded side where all the edges

are rounded and flat side where the edges are sharp.

I start with the rounded side which is better at distributing resin.

Holding the squeegee at a shallow angle will pull resin from where its thick and deposit

it where there is not enough.

As I get to the bottom edge I go a little flatter to keep from pulling to much on to

the floor.

When the initial area is wetted from keel to sheer I look to pull the puddle down the

length, moving from wet towards dry.

The squeegee is a bit like a snow plow, pulling the resin along and creating a line of excess

that is then pulled over the edge.

I work with intention.

Each time I touch the squeegee to the boat I have a plan for what I'm trying to do with

it.

I want to pull resin from a shiny spot towards a white spot where there is no resin or towards

as grey spot where there is not enough resin.

If you reach a point where your squeegee work isn't doing anything, it doesn't mean you

aren't trying hard enough.

There is no point in fussing with minor imperfections at this point.

Don't try to make it perfect yet.

You can fix minor issues later.

Instead, it is time to mix more epoxy.

As you proceed towards the ends you will reach a point where the bottom isn't very flat any

more.

Trying to dump a big puddle of resin will just end up with a lot on the floor.

At this point I use a chip brush to transfer the resin from my mixing cup to the boat.

The goal is to quickly get the epoxy out of the cup on to the boat.

I don't need to saturate every square inch with the brush.

I stroke from wet towards dry and from the center down to the sheer, working to pull

the glass tight.

I want to empty my mixing cup quickly.

A large mass of epoxy in the cup will tend to generate heat, causing the resin to become

less workable.

Spreading it out on the boat gives you more working time.

In a warm shop the resin in your cup may only be good for 10 minute but still very workable

after 40 minutes when spread on the boat.

I want to empty the cup in less than 5 minutes.

I mix small batches to match my work rate.

Once I have the epoxy on the boat I can use whatever resin is left in the brush to touch

up dry spot on the previous area.

Working the squeegee from wet towards dry distributes the resin that I applied with

the brush.

Wrinkles can usually be pulled from the wet area in to the white area where they will

often dissipate, or off the edges where they don't matter.

If that doesn't work, I don't keep trying.

Instead I do some yarn management.

Finding where the yarns reach the edge of the cloth I give them a slight tug to pull

the wrinkle flat.

Even though I did not initially brush on epoxy to the point where everything was wet out,

there is plenty to saturate the cloth after I spread it with the squeegee.

The squeegee is much more efficient at distributing the resin than the brush.

I can quickly achieve full saturation without overworking the resin or introducing air into

the layup.

The OCD watchers in the audience may be stressing about those drips.

Don't.

The wood is going to suck up some excess resin, I also want to allow any bubbles to float

to the surface.

A bit too much resin now will allow the wood to saturate and ease removal of any bubbles

shortly.

And, no, I'm not going to try to fold over that excess cloth sticking out off the bow.

The time between the first dump of epoxy to fully saturated has been 20 minutes.

I now turn down the heat in the shop to about 70 F or 20 C.

Now is when I worry about details.

Because I worked quickly to get the cloth saturated, I have plenty of time to get the

wetout perfect.

I've made a little slide into the edge of a paper cup.

Using the sharp edge of the squeegee, holding it at about 45 to the surface with moderate

pressure, I scrape off the excess resin.

Sliding the squeegee edge through the slot removes the grunge.

This grunge cupping process should remove any glossy spots and fill any starved spots,

leaving a uniform matte finish.

The squeegee pulls the cloth tight and presses it down on to the wood.

Too much resin will make the boat heavy and it is actually weaker than a layup with just

enough resin.

Where wetting out the cloth took 20 minutes, I spend another 10 minutes cleaning up the

layup.

I'll then let the epoxy cure for several hours.

After the epoxy has set up enough to be somewhat stiff but still a bit sticky I add a light

fill coat.

I will be adding another layer of cloth to the hull later in the build.

For now I want to fill the weave just enough that I will be able to give it a light sanding

later.

I mix a small batch of epoxy and distribute it on to the hull with a brush.

These puddles get spread around the surface with a squeegee.

A little epoxy here goes a long way.

I'm just working the resin into the texture of the fiberglass cloth.

Someone is saying: But, you just went through all that effort to remove excess epoxy, now

you're putting it back on?

Yes, after we finished wetting out the cloth we then needed to get it tight against the

wood for the strongest layup.

Now, the epoxy has set up enough that it is bonded tight to the wood.

So I can now add resin to fill the weave.

But, but, but you just said you're adding more cloth later, why fill the weave now?

Because by the time I add that cloth, the epoxy is going to be fully cured.

I'm going to have to sand to assure a good bond.

If I leave the full weave texture, I'll immediately sand into the cloth, making it weaker.

Now to mess with you even further, I'm doing the grunge cup thing again.

Scraping off the excess.

I only need enough resin to fill the weave sufficiently to allow a light sanding that

doesn't cut into the glass.

With the fill coat complete I'll turn down the heat and let the epoxy cure overnight.

The next day I can remove the hull from the forms, but for the next episode we will get

back to where I left the deck, doing a final sanding and glassing it.

Since I'll be doing more glassing in the next episode, post your question to the comments.

hopefully, I'll be able to address them when I discuss glassing the deck.

I look forward to your questions, thanks for watching and happy paddling.
