We Like Zines! | 냄비받침 – Ep.6 [ENG/THAI/2017.07.18] - Duration: 1:11:03.
(Interviewing politicians: Who's the third guest?)
(Office of Chungcheongnam-do)
(Chungcheongnam-do's EXO)
(Victoria's Secret model of Chungcheongnam-do)
(We're on our way to meet you)
Hello.
(He announced to run for president in January)
(He started out ambitiously!)
(Ahn Heejung's approval rating is close to 20%)
(His approval ratings are the second highest)
(He became the top candidate for presidency!)
(He failed to run in the presidential election!)
(The election was another challenge to him)
(He was former President Roh's advisor)
(Elected as the governor of Chungcheongnam-do)
(Governor Ahn was rated no. 1 for 13 months in a row)
I'll challenge myself to change Korea.
(Near Yongbongsan, Chungcheongnam-do)
(Official resident of Chungcheongnam-do governor)
(Chungcheongnam-do's EXO)
(He's waiting for someone)
(Author Lee Gyeonggyu traveled a great distance)
Hello.
It's been a long time.
Thanks for coming here.
Is this your official residence?
Yes.
I decided to stay here in order
work harder 24 hours a day.
That's why I asked to stay here.
Only two rooms? I expected a luxurious place.
It's an ordinary place.
This is the feeling I got when you arrived.
President Moon visited when he was the candidate.
- He came here? / - Yes.
I waited outside to greet him.
- He came to make a visit? / - Yes.
What I'm telling you is that I greeted you
just like I greeted President Moon.
(What an honor)
You're growing corn.
This is my garden.
You're growing grapes, too.
Do you look after the garden yourself?
Yes, it's my hobby.
It is?
- You're growing tomatoes here. / - Yes.
I don't use pesticides.
(Have a taste)
(Chew chew)
If you're busy gardening, when do you work?
Farming is part of my work.
I can understand the lives of
2.24 million residents of Chungcheongnam-do.
What's better than to experience it myself?
The office of Chungcheongnam-do is located
in the new city of Naepo.
A city with the Yellow Sea and history.
Come and live in Naepo.
You sounded like a real estate agent.
(He loves Chungcheongnam-do down to his bones)
(Before they begin the interview...)
This is artist Park Sunchan.
He draws an editorial cartoon called "Jangdori."
- I'm Park Sunchan. / - Artist Park Sunchan.
You look just like Jangdori.
(Is that a compliment?)
What is it like meeting him in person?
You're known to be a handsome politician.
You are even more handsome in person.
Is it hard to draw my character?
It's difficult to draw handsome people.
What about Lee Gyeonggyu? Is he easy to draw?
You're very hard to draw.
I'm very easy to draw, right?
Both of you are hard.
(The end of useless exchange of compliments)
(The interview begins!)
You gave me a call once before and
we had a meal together 3 to 4 years ago.
I think it was on January 14, 2014.
How can you remember the exact date?
I recorded it in my cell phone.
(Records date, location of people he meets)
It's the habit of President Roh's advisors.
What do you mean?
We wanted to computerize political business.
Doing politics is about
meeting people.
The purposes of the meetings become policy data.
I thought when I met you
I thought I would learn how to be brief and witty.
(Please teach me how to be witty)
So did you learn a lot from me?
Not at all.
You've become quite witty since we last met.
I think it has helped a lot.
How have you been since the election?
I've been sad.
I have many questions to ask you.
There were so many issues including the kiss,
the grand coalition, comments of good intentions
and the THAAD deployment.
You were mentioned by many people.
Could you tell us the truth during this interview?
I can say it now.
I will speak candidly today.
But you must edit it well.
If you air things that shouldn't be aired,
I will write malicious comments online.
(How fun, looking forward to it)
After the election, you were forgotten by the public,
but became a hot issue after the election day.
(Everybody was congratulating the new president)
Governor Ahn Heejung who arrived late...
He kissed President Moon on the cheek and
settled the grudges between them from the election.
We normally drink a lot on the day of the ballot count.
People drink out of joy or out of sorrow.
You said you didn't drink and said it was confidential.
I said it was confidential. I don't lie.
Yes, you said it was confidential.
But I was clear about whether I was drunk or not.
I wasn't.
Whom did you drink with?
I was with my election advisors.
I had a can of beer.
Then a friend of mine who returned from a trip
brought a bottle of hard liquor.
He said he would give my drink a kick.
I guess it was a strong kick.
The truth comes out.
I can say it now.
You can drink all you want.
But why did you kiss him?
Did you kiss him as your comrade?
I had a hard time competing against him.
I'm sure he did, too.
It's the same for everyone.
If I'm having a hard time, so is the opponent.
In some sense, I felt bad that we went
through such a fierce competition.
In another sense, I was proud.
We won.
You two competed quite intensely.
You admitted to your defeat and kissed him.
It meant acknowledgment and acceptance.
So it looked beautiful.
Most people thought that way.
That's why the overseas media reported it, too.
If you two hadn't competed so intensely,
it would've been seen as a drunken frenzy.
If you went up there and kissed him for no reason,
it would've been seen as a drunken frenzy.
But you two have a history.
Has the president said anything about it afterwards?
I think he was embarrassed by it.
Every time I ran into after the kiss,
he had this embarrassed look.
"What if he comes at me and kisses me again?"
(You seem so shy)
You lost in the election for candidacy.
Whether you expected it or not,
you must've been shocked by the result.
Hearing the result that you lost on stage
is quite tough.
I had to publicly accept the fact
that I lost.
I was quite intimidated.
After you lost the election,
who supported you the most?
My wife.
What did she say? Don't ever do politics again?
She had a hard time, too.
The hands of someone who is rejected are shabby.
I asked for the candidacy, but I was rejected.
Nothing is shabbier than these hands.
Out of all the emotions we have.
You took them back.
What did your sons say?
They...
They campaigned for Moon Jaein the next day.
(Eldest son Ahn Jeonggyun)
He wore the blue jacket the next day
and went around shouting, "Vote no. 1."
I can't trust anybody.
(Sons are useless)
But I was proud of my son.
I couldn't support Moon because of my position.
So he thought it would be helpful to me
if he campaigned for Moon Jaein instead.
I was very grateful.
You started out with 3% approval rating
and finished at 20%.
It was a miracle.
Did you expect to win the election?
It was sad that
I didn't have the time to enjoy the fact
that my approval rating was going up.
Every time, something happened and
I had to give explanations on the news
or defend myself.
What did you have to explain about?
Starting with the grand coalition.
Free food, THAAD.
Even the comment about the good intention.
Your approval rating went down after you said it.
The presidential election originated from the rallies
against Park Geunhye, but you said that we should
forgive her. That's why you took the beating.
Governor Ahn Heejung made a comment that
people should accept that Park Geunhye
had good intentions for her behaviors.
She wanted to get enough funding from companies
to successfully hold the Winter Olympics.
Even the opposition party candidates criticized him.
He forgot to mention how angry we are.
If she caused harm to many people,
that's definitely wrong.
Regarding this, Governor Ahn Heejung explained that
what he meant to say was even if she makes
excuses that it was out of good intention,
her behavior was still wrong.
Whether she had good intention or not, so what?
She did something illegal.
But since she continued to make excuses that she
had good intentions, even if we accept that,
what she did was still wrong. That's what I meant.
The fact that I became a strange person to the public
was quite painful.
You didn't think people would criticize you?
No, because that's not what I meant to say.
You didn't think it would happen.
I didn't make the comment to
take Park Geunhye's side and
say she didn't do anything wrong.
Why would I want to compliment her behavior?
But the news edited my comment that way and
I became someone who said it to win more votes.
"He made the comment to get conservative votes.
He has changed."
"I didn't think he would do that."
My old friends started to criticize me
so it was very painful.
The other controversy was about the grand coalition.
President Roh's administration attempted to do that.
I made it clear that I'll continue his unfinished work.
A reporter asked me what that unfinished work was.
So I explained that forming a grand coalition of
communications and compromise is my goal.
Then the article was written.
People criticized me, "What? You plan on
forming a coalition with The Grand National Party?"
So I didn't have the time to enjoy anything.
If you become the president,
who would you have appointed as prime minister?
I would've appointed someone after discussing
it with the head of the Minjoo Party and the heads
of the parties I want to form a coalition with.
Whether it is like the Netherlands or Europe...
We must find a common ground of
the order of the free market. This is despite
the fact that the labor unions are social democrats.
This will lead to welfare policies and tax increase.
We must put efforts to find the common ground.
In order for all parties to compromise,
we must figure out...
Wait a minute.
I forgot what question I asked you.
It's too hot and I can't keep my mind straight.
What did I ask that you're giving me
this long answer, talking about the Netherlands.
What's going on right now?
If I knew, I wouldn't have given such a long answer.
Do you remember, Mr. Park?
(He doesn't know either)
No one knows what the question was.
Why did we talk about the Netherlands?
You asked me who I'd appoint as the prime minister
so I said the heads of the coalition should decide.
Then I started to explain why
we need the grand coalition.
That's why you mentioned the Netherlands.
You majored in philosophy, right?
I was tipped that advisors tend
to talk on and on.
Yes, I tend to do that.
We must wait a long time for you
to finish talking. We don't know
what you're talking about unless we pay attention.
Giving a message in a brief sentence.
That's what you must do.
Then your approval rating will double.
Right?
Governor An.
I will give this to you
if I need you to answer O for yes, X for no.
When I look at President Moon,
I get jealous.
Jealous?
You get jealous.
I thought you would hold up the X.
Why?
He gets to visit the U.S.
That's why I ran for candidacy.
I didn't get to go. That's how I feel.
You want to be part of the G20 Summit, too.
I may be jealous,
but he's doing a great job.
He doesn't brag that he's the president.
He hasn't changed at all.
His character is embedded in the administration.
I think he's doing a great job.
People call you EXO of Chungcheongnam-do.
Be objective when you answer this.
As a politician, I'm handsome. O or X?
The question...
Why did you include "as a politician?"
You should've asked me just about my looks.
As a man, I am handsome. O or X?
(I'm handsome)
Why do you think so?
I've heard it my whole life.
(Smirk)
The reason why I'm claiming that I'm handsome is
not because of my looks.
As a career politician, I've put in the effort, and
I think people see my honesty and sincerity
and consider me a beautiful politician.
That's why I can confidently say I'm handsome.
You got into politics quite early, right?
- Yes. / - Since when?
As early as my
elementary school years. I ran for class president.
(His humor level went up)
You've become quite witty.
I got into politics because of Kim Deokryong.
In 1989.
He asked me to work part-time after I got out
of jail and that's how I entered politics.
You were tortured and expelled as an activist.
Yes.
I was expelled twice in high school and
three times in college.
Your parents must've been heartbroken.
I am always apologetic to my mother.
But she's the one to blame, too.
She said I must do what's right no matter what.
She taught me that ever since I was young.
You never walked away from an unjust situation?
Of course I did.
There was this incident once.
I got on an intercity bus at the bus terminal.
Before we departed, some scary-looking men
came with ear swabs.
They said they served their time in prison and
will start anew if we buy ear swabs from them.
But it was actually a blackmail.
Everyone on the bus froze in fear.
They looked down not to make eye contact.
Some women were sitting nearby and
they sexually harassed one of them.
I was very upset, but I couldn't step up.
You looked the other way?
There were 2 to 3 muscular men there.
I couldn't get myself to stand up to them.
I started out as a child thinking
that justice is about showing displeasure
against an individual who is rude.
But justice is a social problem.
It's not an individual's problem.
Solving that problem is what politics is about.
How do you become a career politician?
You must have desire for honor.
Desire for honor.
Tigers leave their skin after death,
and people leave their names.
It sounds impressive, but it's actually weary.
What's so great about leaving your name?
But if you are intrigued by the sound of it,
you have the gift to become a politician.
But you must start with
a sense of justice.
What do you think about me?
Do you have any desire for honor?
I'm sure I do.
(He found his desire for honor during his hike)
Please vote for me.
(Lee Gyeonggyu's big picture)
If you want to leave your name in history
and make money, that's not desire for honor.
(If you want money, that's not desire for honor)
Right. Right.
You must sacrifice everything, but your name.
That's not me.
Basically.
That's what I think.
I always say I'm a career politician.
What's a career politician?
Those who mooch off of people.
That's when politicians can be loyal to people.
People who were successful and became rich
will see limits in doing politics for people.
A good politician is born when he can only
exist by being loved by people.
(A career politician mooches off of people)
When were you discouraged the most in life?
Discouraged.
In 1988, I was arrested for the second time
and I was interrogated for a month in Namsan
by the National Security Agency.
That was the biggest discouragement.
There was a pro-democracy movement in 1988.
Yes, a student movement.
A group of us were arrested together.
Young Ahn Heejung's life ended then.
You once again spent a year in prison, right?
The illegal election fund in 2003, right?
It's interesting. When I was imprisoned in 1988,
I was in solitary confinement.
In solitary confinement?
Then I returned to the same prison 18 years later.
I was locked up as a prisoner of conscience before
and returned to the same place as
a corrupt politician.
That was very painful.
How did my life end up here?
You must've been greatly despaired.
I knew everything I did with President Roh would
be impossible to do in the future.
Ahn Heejung, President Roh's aide was arrested.
As he was taken to Seoul detention center
he calmly admitted the charges.
I believe Korea is changing.
I will take responsibility for my wrongdoings.
("Even the ruling power should be punished")
President Roh became the president,
but you couldn't share the honor with him.
But inside my heart...
People may say I didn't get to share the honor,
but I don't think of it that way.
President Moon was the chief secretary and
the head of civil affairs under President Roh.
But you took all the blame and was imprisoned
for illegal funding for the presidential election.
Isn't that why you were excluded in 2008, too?
Right.
Weren't you disappointed about that?
Right. I was very sad in 2008.
It hurt so much that I couldn't breathe.
After I was excluded from nominations,
I thought if I stayed quiet that way,
I would end up running in the election
without a political party.
So I wrote a letter that evening.
That I accepted their decision.
At your publication party in 2008
President Roh cried a lot.
He must've known that I would be
excluded from the official nomination.
Is that right?
This is what he said in the video.
"I owe you a lot,
but there isn't a way to pay you back."
He cried because he was sorry.
He is my political partner who contributed a lot
to get me where I am today.
That's important, too.
But what I can never forget is that
I was in trouble a few times even
after I became the president.
But Ahn Heejung sacrificed himself
for me and went through
so much hardship.
I owe him a lot.
But this friend never
burdened me or
any of the people he worked with.
What's so great
about this friend is that
he never took credit for
the sacrifices he made.
Not once.
He has never made me or
the other politicians feel uncomfortable.
I saw him crying when I watched the video.
I told them not to play it at the event.
Really? So you didn't play it?
I was his advisor.
I shouldn't use his tears for my own benefit.
Right.
It was an honor for me to see his tears.
At that moment, I felt like the president gave me
my severance pay with his tears.
I got too much for my severance pay.
That's how you felt.
Who knew that the video would become something
to remember him by after his death the next year?
Who knew?
(May 23, 2009)
(President Roh Moohyun passed away)
I respected President Roh Moohyun.
I liked President Roh Moohyun.
The reason I was loyal to President Roh was
for my friendship to my uncle who still
breeds cows in his hometown.
I was loyal to him to be loyal to my parents
and everyone else who are
still farming in rural areas.
President Roh was loyal to those people.
That is why being loyal to him meant that
I was being loyal to the country
and to my parents and other people
who are powerless.
That's why I was loyal to him.
When do you miss President Roh the most?
After I became the governor,
I cried just looking up at the sky.
But I don't think about him anymore.
You say you don't, but you seem to.
I try not to.
After you got out of jail, I heard that you were
often invited to have breakfast at the Blue House.
Did they call you every week?
I didn't go every week.
I'm not like Choi Soonsil.
I hope that people don't
think that way about me.
He provided me an opportunity to learn.
The issue of dispatching troops to Iraq.
The issue of Korea-U.S. FTA.
The Saemangeum issue.
I was able to understand that
President Roh had no other choice, but to
deal with those diverse issues a certain way.
I wouldn't be able to learn that elsewhere.
But I started to get aggravated about being there.
Why?
I had nothing to say.
They were busy discussing about their agenda, but
I couldn't join them.
You just had to sit there and listen.
I didn't want to go there anymore.
I looked so pitiful.
So I told Chief Secretary Moon,
"I won't come anymore. Don't invite me."
But I got a call again a week later.
"He wants you to be there next Sunday at lunch."
"I really don't want to go. I have nothing to say.
All of you are busy discussing things,
but I can't join in."
They were always busy talking to themselves.
What were they talking about?
There were different topics each week.
But the president asked me to come.
So I went once in a while.
I now realize that those were valuable lessons.
Even if you just sat there,
you must've learned a lot.
That is why when I became the governor in 2010,
I confidently said that I can do a good job.
I watched the president deal with national issues.
I can take care of a local government.
There's a serious issue pending now.
- It's serious? / - It's serious.
Your term as the governor will end next year.
Will you run for the governor again?
Will you go to the Blue House?
Or will you go to the National Assembly?
President Moon just became the president.
See?
But in the interview, you said it.
I will run for presidency in the next election?
I meant I will continue to challenge myself.
I should always prepare myself for the future,
but this is what I think.
I will decide when the time comes.
When the time comes.
The Korea that we are living in.
The Moon administration that we made.
I will decide depending on the situation
and see what role I can play.
In our society, there are more people
who have failed than those who have succeeded.
- Right? / - Yes.
How do you overcome that and
how is that failure helpful in your life?
I never considered anything a failure though.
I see.
If there is a goal in life
and you are walking towards it,
there may be an uphill or a downhill.
Sometimes you may strive, sometimes you may fall.
So you cannot just look at one aspect
and call it a success or a failure.
As long as you have a certain goal in mind,
being successful or failing doesn't matter.
- It's just a process in life? / - That's right.
You have been talking to me
for some time now.
Is there anything you'd like to say?
Is there anything that I didn't ask you?
I don't know what I said and didn't say.
So let's shoot part 2 of this interview later.
If the viewer ratings are high, let's do part 2.
Alright.
How would you title your book?
There's "Going All the Way."
"A Way to Live No Matter What."
It's too hard, right?
People still remember what I've said.
What do they remember?
Like the flowers in God's garden...
What?
God's garden...
God. God.
Like the flowers in God's garden
our lives and contests are...
It's too long for you to jot it down.
Don't.
I'll text it to you.
Our lives and
contests are not about jealousy.
They're about blooming my own flower.
(It's too long to be a title!)
Please text it to me.
I will choose a title by discussing it
with the scriptwriters.
Let's check the illustrations now.
- I get to see it right away? / - Sure.
You've said so many great things today.
I included so many things in the illustrations.
After listening to your interview,
what I was impressed by the most was
a career politician
mooches off of people.
I agreed with what you said.
So this is a can to use for begging.
That's why you draw a can here.
My nose is the biggest feature in my face.
I actually drew it quite small.
You don't like it?
Should we shave it off a little more?
I like it.
We can always adjust the size of your nose.
Thank you.
(Ahn Heejung who begs for people's love)
Let's sit closer and pose.
Please look at each other.
This is embarrassing.
(Title "With Gyeonggyu and Heejung")
(Please make a heart!)
I can't. I'm sweating too much.
(A heart pose)
What about a kiss on his cheek?
(A kiss on the cheek)
(To commemorate the interview!)
(Will Lee Gyeonggyu be no. 2 to be kissed?)
(Do I look beautiful, too?)
Stop it. Stop it.
(I don't kiss anyone easily)
(Too bad)
(Politics and kisses must be done carefully)
(Protecting his image)
(A cool shower-like interview with Ahn Heejung)
(Ahn Jaewook's List of Good Restaurants)
(Perfect food with no match)
(Roasted chicken)
(The king of late-night snacks)
(Chicken that will make your heart pound)
(Side menu: Icy cold beer)
It's my turn to recommend a place.
I'm so excited.
I haven't been on a restaurant tour for so long.
- I'm worried. / - Why?
We've already been to two places and
we are quite full already.
(Gyeonggyu's recommendation, sea eel)
(They ate as much as they can)
(Yujin's recommendation, spicy fish stew)
(They had to force themselves to eat)
Food tastes the best when you're hungry.
But when the sun starts to set
it's like a new beginning.
(Eating experience repeats)
The mood plays a big part.
Yujin, you really love to eat,
but you stay so skinny.
What's the menu?
- This is my neighborhood. / - Oh really?
It's a small place. The menu is
roasted chicken in firewood.
Roasted chicken.
Nothing else is in it?
Healthy medicinal herbs are used.
Oriental medicinal herbs?
That's the name of it, too.
Medicinal herbs are in the chicken.
So you ate that and had your daughter.
Suan's baby name was Hanbang.
That Hanbang meant...
Our daughter's baby name was Hanbang.
She was conceived on our honeymoon.
The owner heard the story and became so happy.
Right after my wife gave birth,
he packed me a chicken for her.
Oriental medicine chicken for Hanbang.
If we go in there and ask
who the top regular customer is,
would he say your name?
- So far... / - So far we've been successful.
- Our names came up first, right? / - Yes.
Which of them come here most often?
Lee Gyeonggyu comes here most often.
Many celebrities must come here, right?
Paik Jongwon has been a regular for 16 years.
(This place is indeed Yujin's favorite place)
How quickly do you think your name will come up?
My name will come up.
Within how many tries? Top 5?
5?
Maybe 3?
Three? That sounds good.
The place holds great memories for me.
I have memories with my child.
One day when I was there, the owner told me that
he got a new smartphone to watch my drama.
He wanted to watch it on a nice phone.
Whenever I'm drinking nearby,
I would tell people to stop by that place
and buy chicken to take home.
I see.
I often bought chicken for others, too.
I'm looking forward to it.
Then it's 100% possible that you're in the top 3.
I think your name might come up first.
(Ha ha)
(But... Why is my mouth so dry?)
We're almost there.
They look good.
(What greets the customers first?)
(Roasted chickens cooking away)
(They visually appeal to the customers first)
(The restaurant is crowded from early evening)
(Waiting is a must)
If you're not in the top 3, you must pay.
I'm going to have a drink after the shoot.
You have to pay if your name isn't in the top 3.
- Let's go. / - I'm looking forward to this place.
I'll be watching from here.
It's perfect to buy one to go on the way home.
Who's the owner?
Sir.
Hello.
- Nice to meet you. / - It's an honor.
The place is crowded already.
People are lined up.
(Hurry up and say my name)
I see that some celebrities have eaten here.
Many celebrities must come here.
Yes, they do.
Is that Gong Yoo's autograph?
Yes, he eats here, too.
(Even the goblin fell in love with this place)
(Many celebrities have come here)
(What's Jaewook's ranking out of all these stars?)
(Jaewook's autograph)
Who would you consider
the top regular customer?
This person really is the best regular customer.
(Will Jaewook's name come up?)
He got a new smart phone to watch my drama.
I tell people to stop by.
I think your name might come up first.
(I'm the no. 1 regular customer!)
Vice Chairman Chung Yongjin of S Group.
- Who? / - Vice Chairman Chung Yongjin.
(No one can beat him)
(No. 1 Vice Chairman Chung Yongjin of S Group)
(All I can do is smile...)
(I dreamed of the impossible)
I'm not saying that he's my regular customer.
He wrote that himself.
I've been in love with this place for a decade.
With an autograph.
(I should've written 11 years)
Who's next? Second place.
Next is...
(I'm no. 2!)
- Figure skater Kim Yuna. / - Who?
Kim Yuna.
(Getting worse)
I lost.
I lost.
(She wrote down the dates she visited)
It was the power of chicken.
It was the power of chicken.
(Why are they getting excited?)
- Then who's third? / - In third place...
Let's stop here.
He comes often, too. Ahn...
(Ahn)
(Here we go!)
(Ahn Jaewook is no. 3?)
(I told you I'm a regular there!)
(No. 3 Ahn Jaewook?)
Actor Ahn Sungki.
Ahn Sungki.
(He failed to prove that he's a regular)
My name will come up.
- Top 5? / - 3?
I shouldn't come here anymore.
Ahn Sungki. Ahn Sungki.
Who else comes here regularly?
Lee Jongsuk.
Who else?
Han Hyojoo.
She's been a regular for 7 years.
Who's next?
Ahn Jaewook.
(No. 6 Ahn Jaewook)
(Bitter)
He's not in the top 5.
I just listed by people who came most recently.
In the order of their recent visits.
What does Ahn Jaewook mean to you?
He brings many other celebrities here.
He's a tout.
He really brought many celebrities here.
(The tout is on his way)
(Did Ahn Jaewook do something wrong?)
Jaewook, come here.
(Oh no!)
- Hello. / - Sir.
You...
I thought you were a nice man.
I've been watching the whole time.
I wasn't even in the top 5.
He never told me he was coming here.
Our top regulars are Ahn Jaewook, Kim Myungmin.
It's too late.
- You weren't in the top 5. / - Alright.
You were the sixth one.
I took out my wallet already.
I was shocked when I heard Chung Yongjin's name.
He was marketing his place.
I realized then that I lost then.
Who knew that his name would come up?
I was shocked.
There were many requests for this place to be
on television, but it never was.
When I heard that he agreed to be on television,
I thought it was because of me.
That's what I thought, but
we were keeping the program name a secret.
Anyone could've gotten him to agree to be on TV.
(It was all thanks to me...)
I saw your picture on the way in.
Your picture was on top.
I think your picture was in the top center.
When I first came here,
Kim Myungmin was a regular here.
The walls were covered with his posters.
I tolerated it and ate here a few times.
Then after a few visits I said, "If I've come
this often, shouldn't you at least show
some kind of sincerity?"
Then one day when I came, the owner happily
said to me, "Look outside."
He put up my picture in the front.
But my picture was on the bottom.
I got mad. "I'd rather have my picture come down."
So he moved my picture to the top on the spot.
(The owner was quick to judge the situation)
So this is stamina food?
Yes.
Why are you doubting my favorite place?
It's because...
He doesn't use just any chicken.
He only uses 30-day-old young chicken.
30 days old?
Milk vetch root, bay leaves, cinnamon,
licorice root, white woodland peony, ginkgo nuts...
All of those go in?
Chickens are given a bath of medicinal herb water.
(Chickens marinated in medicinal herb water)
He then fills the chickens with stuffing.
(Chickens stuffed with sticky rice, garlic, etc)
You saw firewood made of oak trees on the way in?
Oak tree.
Chickens are then roasted for 2 hours.
(Roasting for 2 hours is the key point)
(Healthy roasted chicken with oak fragrance)
Does roasting for 2 hours make a difference?
That's the owner's know-how.
He probably tried roasting them for different hours
and found out 2 hours was the best.
He could sell more chickens if he only
roasted for 30 minutes or an hour. But 2 hours!
I don't normally come here to start drinking.
It's the place I want to stop by last.
I come here with fellow musical actors often.
Whenever I drink or eat nearby,
I always make sure they get to taste this chicken.
This guy has shares in this place.
If not, he couldn't make such comments.
(Ahn Jaewook the love)
He comes here often with Cha Taehyun?
Last time they came here early evening.
They were quite drunk.
Early evening?
It was around 5:30 p.m.
What time did you start drinking?
Taehyun wanted to have a drink at lunchtime.
So we started with drinking soju.
Then I suggested that we drink comfortably
at the place I go to regularly.
Cha Taehyun has 3 children so
he can take some to go for his kids.
He always suggests people to take
chickens to go for their families.
You set this up, didn't you?
I think you told him to say good things about you.
Side dishes.
(Setting up side dishes)
We don't have enough space here.
I love this type of kimchi.
If you eat chicken with kimchi...
I want some rice.
My nose is completely cleared.
It's important that chicken tastes good.
Who cares if kimchi tastes good?
Why are you so suspicious?
It's not that. I think...
You'll be quite surprised.
Here it is.
(The main dish has arrived)
(Well-roasted chicken in oak firewood)
(He takes pictures for the book)
(Roasted chicken with medicinal herbs)
Have some while it's still hot.
I can survive the summer with this?
Eat chicken breast first.
(Tip: Chicken breast, wings then drumsticks)
(Crispy on the outside, moist on the inside)
(Perfectly-roasted chicken for 2 hours)
Look at this drumstick.
Oh my. I'm going to taste a drumstick.
It looks tasty.
(Pause)
What's wrong?
(She is speechless)
No more spicy fish stew?
No more spicy fish stew?
Your husband's doesn't taste this good either?
She's married now. It doesn't matter anymore.
- It just melts in your mouth. / - Sure.
Oh really?
It's different from other chickens?
How can it be so tender?
Right.
I run a chicken business and am a model.
You know a lot about chicken.
My family will complain if they find out.
They won't like that I'm eating other chicken.
I'm in a bind here.
Is it good?
(He tastes it under pressure)
(How does it taste?)
It's good.
It's good.
(In between anger and joy)
(The new world of roasted chicken)
I'll take one to go.
I'll take two.
Take as many as you want.
(Happy)
(When she takes a bite of the tender meat)
(She can't help but dance)
(I never looked at other chickens)
(But I'm holding my thumb up to this)
(He's full just looking at the two)
(He shreds a piece of kimchi)
(Come here, Gyeonggyu)
(Yum)
(The perfect combination of chicken and kimchi)
(Waves of emotions)
So this is the skin.
This is the best part.
It's crispy from being roasted for 2 hours.
I normally don't eat chicken skin
when I eat chicken soup.
But this is the best.
Some people eat the skin first. It's that good.
Because it's so good.
It's good.
When you're done, there's rice inside.
You can eat it with a spoon.
Try some.
This is rice?
It tastes like chicken soup with ginseng.
It sort of tastes like sweet rice cake.
This is really good.
It even tastes like scorched rice.
It tastes like rice was roasted, too.
When we come here after a performance or practice,
musical actresses eat a lot of this rice.
This is really good.
- It's so good. / - How is it really?
It's just...
(A sincere roar)
(Here comes the food fighter side of her)
(In a trance)
(She really eats a lot)
(Eat this, too)
(These two men take good care of Yujin)
(Actually Yujin...)
(She ate a lot earlier)
(I'm the true eating god here)
(I've eaten this much)
I want to eat the rest with rice now.
What?
(Oh my)
We agreed not to go that far.
Rice with...
(3 great restaurants, stamina food, success!)
(I'm truly shocked)
Your husband is a famous chef.
You should just taste a little and stop.
You should care about his business, too.
How can you gulp everything down like that?
(She gulps everything down with ease)
(I'll take some chickens to go)
(The sun has set now)
The chickens have this unique taste
that you can't compare to others.
Roasting in firewood makes it interesting.
The skin is so crispy, but
the meat is so tender that it melts in your mouth.
Then when you eat the rice
it's full of flavor, too.
Late-night snacks that we usually eat,
make us feel guilty afterwards.
They're mostly greasy food.
There isn't any stamina food you can eat at night.
There aren't too many.
This is the place that you can come to and
enjoy chicken with beer as you dream
of your one big shot.
Out of all the chickens I've had I give it 5 stars.
(So Yujin, 5 stars, it's good)
It's really good.
It's so nice that you can taste
various things within a single dish.
In one chicken.
You gave up on your diet today?
Yes. It starts tomorrow.
You're not full?
I'm full, but it's a pity I have to digest it.
You must include this in the book.
It'll appear in my dream.
It's a pity to digest it.
It's a pity to digest it.
What about you, Gyeonggyu?
I'm looking forward to your evaluation.
(High hopes)
I give it 3 stars.
(Glancing over at the owner)
(He is, too)
Geez.
(Embarrassed)
Food tastes the best when you're hungry.
I came when I was too full.
So there goes a star.
The other star.
I know many people in this industry.
I'm a member of Poultry Association.
I bear the burden of not being able to
evaluate other people's chickens.
Mr. Park, Mr. Choi, Mr. Kim, they'll scold me.
If you say that's good, what does that make us?
So 3 stars.
It's the best score that I can give.
It's fair as stamina food.
The price is fair, the mood is fair.
I can proudly recommend it to others.
I can comfortably get drunk and go home.
Also, if I take some to go,
my family would love it. Like when we were kids.
The reason why I like this place so much is
because I have this nostalgia of my father
bringing home a roasted chicken wrapped in paper.
(Back then when our hearts were full)
(By taking home a good-tasting chicken)
This is to remember our shoot today.
Thank you.
Put it up in the center.
(Precious memories placed in the center)
He's well known in Yongsan for his good deeds.
He gives donations every month to
the community service center to help those in need.
But it is not known to the public.
A woman who volunteers at the community center
would say, "He does a lot of good deeds."
Then he humbly says no.
Not many people know of his good deeds.
Didn't you receive an award, too?
He received an award for many good deeds.
This has become a restaurant of compliments.
It's true. Whenever younger musical actors come,
he always pays for them even when he's drunk.
It doesn't matter how much the bills are.
It's his drinking habit.
(Drinking habits of paying other people's bills)
That does exist.
It's his drinking habit.
He just gets carried away.
Then he goes home and regrets it.
Aren't you jealous of it though?
(Makes people want to drink with him)
I want to drink with you more often.
Here are your chickens to go.
Thank you.
Enjoy them with your family.
Good-bye.
That's where I'm headed.
My house is this way.
- I'm sorry. / - Bye.
He's strange.
(A great evening spent with families)
(And!)
(When they were just about done eating on Earth...)
(Somewhere out there...)
(Mom / Super Junior / TV / Heechul is the best)
(Girl group 101)
I've written the table of contents.
Things to watch out when speaking, fan service,
how to spend spare time, individual's fashion,
and idols' love lives.
About idol members' relationships.
Being in love isn't a bad thing,
but it becomes the biggest crime.
Idols being in love.
(Kim Heechul is off to interview people!)
For example, a tabloid came out.
(Girl group tabloid)
There are rumors. (Informant)
In case of...
(Rumor)
She's dating...
This is where
she comes and sits most often.
(Coverage on idols' love! Coming Soon!)
It's a quite sensitive issue.
Fans are like a type of parent to us.
You have the parents who gave birth, the agency
that raises you and the fans that take care of you.
Fans are rearing us.
It's like we're digital pets.
Even when my parents find out that
I hid the fact that I'm in a relationship
they get disappointed and upset.
I understand why our fans would get upset.
(Contemplating)
I will go ahead and do interviews, but
will edit out a lot of the parts, if necessary.
Idols' love lives.
(Scratch)
How to behave in front of senior singers.
This is quite ambiguous.
I will call Zyoung up and
ask her what type of junior singers she likes
and she doesn't like.
She gave birth recently.
She took good care of me when I just debuted.
(Calling singer Baek Zyoung)
Heechul, what's up?
I miss you.
Are you doing well?
Sure. I'm breastfeeding right now.
(Perplexed)
Indeed.
Can you believe that I'm breastfeeding?
- Zyoung. / - Yes?
I'm in a shoot.
Right now?
Really? Then why did you call me on your phone?
Whose phone would I call you from then?
We used to use scriptwriters' phones in the past.
Yes, you're right.
We used to use scriptwriters' phones.
You call from your own phone these days?
I'm in a program called We Like Zines!
We like what?
We Like Zines!
It's about publishing a book.
Why is it We Like Zines?
Books become pot coasters when they aren't read.
(Ha ha ha ha ha ha!)
Do you want the program to succeed?
Many people have told us that actually.
You're quite honest.
It's all about being honest.
So?
The book I'm writing about...
You're writing a book?
You're breastfeeding. I can write a book, too.
That's true.
The world has changed.
We're both grownups now.
This is my question for you.
How should junior singers greet you?
Must they bow to you every time?
Or should they bow once the first time
and not greet you at all? What should be done?
They should say hello with sincerity
the first time we meet and
a brief nod is okay after that.
Oh, that's clever.
What was I like when I just debuted?
What was I like?
You didn't greet me well, but you were quite open.
Being open and friendly is much more important.
Yes. Thanks for saying that.
When a junior singer opens up and is friendly
even the most hardcore senior would open up, too.
Like you said here,
we shouldn't use the word "hardcore."
(Production staff / Ha ha ha ha)
You have to be honest like this for my book.
- Heechul. / - I'm writing everything down.
Who's laughing in the back?
(Production staff / Silent!)
The production staff. Why?
Right?
- If girl group members laughed... / - No, right?
You didn't think...
Wait. It's okay to laugh because I'm funny.
But they can't laugh at me.
- You know what I mean? / - Yes.
"Oh, look at her now." Like that.
I know what you mean.
- Alright, Zyoung. / - Okay.
I'll give you a call when I'm done with this.
Thanks for answering my call while breastfeeding.
Come by my postnatal care center.
You're still in a postnatal care center?
Yes. I'm still here.
But you sound so strong and healthy
like you're at a restaurant.
(You're indeed cute, Heechul)
It's me.
Alright. Is Sukwon doing well, too?
Sure. He went to the gym.
Please say hello to him for me.
Alright.
Congratulations once again.
Thanks.
I love you.
- Sure. / - Bye.
Bye.
(Thank you for the call during your recovery)
I'll stop here.
The shoot for "Music Bank" is in progress.
I will go meet another girl group now.
("Music Bank" shoot at KBS Hall)
(WJSN is performing live!)
(After the live performance)
(They will walk out here!)
(That's where Kim Heechul is waiting)
Oh no. What am I going to do?
I'm a shy person.
I am a very shy person.
It's on commercial. They'll come out soon.
(WJSN's voices can be heard in the distance)
(Let's try to look handsome)
(Pitter patter)
Hello.
(Say hello like a prince?)
Hello.
(Wow! It's the big star!)
Stop.
Kim Heechul! Kim Heechul!
(Stop, I'm blushing)
(Big star and WJSN)
I'm surprisingly shy.
Where are you off to now? A signing event?
Yes.
Let's get going then.
Go, go.
(24-hour coverage on a girl group)
(Big star and WJSN)
It feels awkward.
It really feels awkward.
I feel like a teacher on a field trip.
(Teacher and 13 students visiting KBS)
Do you still do that?
"On the way to work?" Yes.
We didn't have that in the past.
Really?
(What does "On the way to work" mean for them?)
It's 2:29 a.m. right now.
It's like filming a horror film.
Zombies.
(Half conscious)
I'm so sleepy. It's 2:51 a.m.
We've arrived at the hair salon.
Everyone else is busy getting ready.
I'm all done.
You look so beautiful!
("Music Bank" on the way to work!)
Hello. We're WJSN.
(Girl groups' pictures on the way to work!)
(They walk in as their fans greet them)
(This is girl groups' "On the way to work!")
When I made a comeback after my military service
that's when this just got started.
I should show that I'm from We Like Zines!
(Getting off work is an ordeal, too)
(How does WJSN with 13 members travel?)
(A 15-person van)
Where do I sit?
(Getting in the van is an ordeal, too!)
Wear your seat belts, girls.
(Already did, Heechul!)
I don't usually go to signing events.
I let you sit in the best seat.
- Thank you. / - That's the first-class seat.
You're the only man to be on this van.
(The only male passenger in WJSN's car)
Men are prohibited in here.
(They're off to the signing event!)
The seat is comfortable, but I feel uneasy inside.
The book that I'm writing is something
girls who want to become idols should read.
(This is the girl group reaction)
I think a book like that will be very useful.
When will it be published?
I think within 2 months?
Is it really going to be a book? In book stores?
Yes.
Do we get a share, too?
I haven't thought about that yet.
I think your book will be quite popular.
So many girls dream of becoming idol singers.
They can read the book or
current girl group members could read it, too.
("You can be as good as Heechul in a week!")
Do you all live together?
Yes, we do.
How was it for Super Junior?
Our place...
- Divided the group? / - We lived in 2 houses.
Did fans come into your place?
- It's a well-known story. / - Really?
I'm curious.
Anti-fans...
TWICE got a hydrochloric acid attack threat.
They got a call that they will be attacked
at the airport when they return to Korea.
Apink who is to make a comeback soon
received a call that a bomb was installed
at the KBS music program studio.
The SWAT team came and searched the studio.
It was quite bad.
You know how we press numbers to go in?
They would be hiding
somewhere nearby like a boiler room.
That's terrible.
When a cleaning lady went in...
I read about fans hanging up their underwear.
They would come in and
take pictures of our underwear.
That's terrible.
They hung up their underwear.
You had no privacy back then.
Right. This happened quite often.
So I went to get a new cell phone number.
As soon as I came out of the store
I got a text message.
I take a look and it said,
"You can change it, but we still know your number."
(Chills)
"Did you think we wouldn't find out?"
(Frozen)
How did they find out?
We used to live on the 8th floor.
We were fooling around in our underwear.
Then we got a text message.
(Another text message?)
Donghae, your teddy bear underwear is so cute.
Oh no.
How did they see your underwear?
Probably from a distance.
So we put up curtains the next day.
We haven't experienced something like that yet.
Those kinds of fans would be listed on a blacklist.
There is such a thing?
Fans have their own rules.
Fanatic fans are strictly punished these days.
So fans don't go that far anymore.
Fans don't like fanatic fans either.
Right. Fans that really care for you
wouldn't like that.
So you guys can't go out and have fun on your own?
We can briefly go out and have a meal.
But we can't go meet other people.
No way.
(That must be tough)
We're waiting for the light at the end of the tunnel.
(They've been on the move since 2 a.m.)
(After their 18-hour music program shoot)
We're here.
What a pity.
Go, WJSN!
- Yes! / - I'll cheer for you.
Let's greet the fans. Two, three.
Would you like? Hello. We're WJSN.
You are so beautiful.
Really? Thank you.
(Genuinely surprised)
(Snap snap snap snap snap)
The sound of the cameras is unbelievable.
Their cameras are much better than yours.
(Observing)
You can either stand or sit.
Some fans are sitting down
to be on an eye level with the star.
(Busy autographing and speaking)
They must be tired.
(But they never lose their smiles)
I'm impressed.
Some things haven't changed
and some things have changed a lot.
Another thing I've realized is that
it must be really tough for girl group members.
This has been author Kim Heechul
at WJSN's fan meeting.
Thank you.
(Next episode)
(The king maker who produced 3 presidents)
To show that we promise to cooperate,
let's lock our arms.
(First female ruling party representative, Choo Miae!)
She made a blunt comment that the two saying
they didn't know is beheading themselves.
Which party?
The ruling party.
The call cannot be answered at the moment...
He won't answer the call from the ruling party?
Wait until I see you at the shoot.
(Don't miss the encounter of the two!)
("Daylight" by Yun Minsoo)
