Waching daily Jul 28 2017

2012! I did a lot that year. A lot of shows.

I participated in this tournament, because I got a message, asking if I wanted to take part.

I have played and won in a few Panna tournament before.

But those were small street tournaments.

So I was thinking why not. Let's go to Amsterdam and rock it over there.

At first I didn't go to win the tournament.

But just to have fun over there.

The first round I played against an unknown player, I don't know his name. But Shout Out to him!

Because he didn't got a Panna from me. I was nervous, the first match is always excited.

Eventually I won two to one.

I did show a lot of skills.

But I tried to Panna him twice, but unfortunately I didn't succeed.

But I did win!

I have to say this guy was a tough opponent. So Shout Out to him!

Second match was against my good friend Ufuk. Shout Out to him!

He was very skilled, beautiful skills!

Yes, It was really sink or swim!

When I was playing I really tried to give him a Panna.

But when you are standing in the cage, it's so difficult. Then it's like...

either he wins or I do.

Eventually I won with a golden goal, but he was very difficult opponent.

A lot of Respect for him! Easy Man!

The third match was the best match of the whole tournament.

Really, I don't want to make a too big of a deal out of it.

But really... This one...

Is a legendary Panna for real!

It was kinda sad, but nothing but Love & Respect!

I played the third round against Hoessein Kamal.

He already made a name for himself. He won this tournament twice in a row.

He was on TV and couldn't give the host a Panna.

Anyway Shout Out to him! I don't want to disrespect him or anything..

But I do know, we played against each other.

And I give him a real sick Panna!

So fast!

Till this day people remind me of this match.

They ask me: What did you do there?

I was angry! This boy pushed me out of the cage and didn't even apologize. It felt like disrespect.

After that I was the crowd's favorite.

After the Panna everybody came to me.

They were like: Woah where are you from, how did you do that and can I take a picture with you?

Nothing but Love, you know.

After that I was in the semi-final, against a guy in a Ajax jersey.

He was also very good, because he also defeated everyone before this match.

And now I was up against him and it turned out to be a very nice match.

There was so much going through my mind. Nice tricks...

Akka around him! Mousetrap!

I did everything to make him dizzy.

Eventually, I don't know what happened exactly, but suddenly he twisted his ankle.

He should have quit then, but he kept on playing.

When I noticed that, I turned the heat up!

When they called my name, telling me I have to play the final.

For me that was like, it's all or nothing now!

I was there just to have fun, but then I was thinking...

now I have to go for it and that's all I can do.

Eventually I had to play the final against my big friend Mo Boutaka.

He was also very good, a real Panna player. Who also won the tournament a few times.

For me it was the first time I participated in the tournament.

I was ahead.

It became a UFC match, a lot of pushing and pulling.

He was aware I was two or three goals ahead.

At a certain point he even pushed the referee.

The match was really sabotaged, but "So be it!"'

Eventually he won with a Golden Goal.

When they handed him the trophy, the crowd yelled boo.

The crowd also saw it wasn't right and I felt the same way.

I felt I won the tournament anyway.

It's just unfortunately when things don't go fair in such a big tournament.

But to me it doesn't matter. Nothing but Love!

I focus on positive things!

And I got over this.

That's why I became the King of Panna eventually!

You also learn a lot from these kind of experiences.

So Easy Man! Love & Respect!

But really, 2013...

Then it's time for Easy Man Skills!

I'm telling you, you really need to check that out! For all my fans.

Even people who don't even like football, but who do believe in me.

Easy Man!

That's my motto!

And this is what I do and this is my passion man!

You know how we do it! It's just Easy Man!

The Great Emu War EXPLAINED | Cool History - Duration: 5:38.

So if you've been on the internet long enough, you've probably heard about the Great Emu war.

It's a battle pitting man against bird, and

guess what? Man lost. If you haven't heard of it or you're just

wondering if it actually happened… Hello! Welcome to NerdyAndQuirky. Here's some cool

history on Australia's war on emus.

Our story begins in Western Australia in the late 1920s. Y'see towns were popping up

to settle soldiers after the First World War. About 5000 servicemen were given farmland

to tend to wheat and sheep. It was going great until 3 terrible things happened in pretty

rapid succession. First, in 1929, The Great Depression dropped

the price of wheat. The Australian government promised subsidies… but the money never

came in. Second, a drought. So not only was their wheat

selling under price… they couldn't grow enough of it.

And finally, by 1932, 20 thousand emus arrived. Wait what?

Here's the thing about emus, after their breeding season inland, they head to the coast

for a sweet post-coital vacation, and they chose to party on the farmland.

And now, this sounds hilarious, if not adorable, until you realize that the emus were really

terrible guests. They would trample and eat the farmers' already struggling crops, they

would tear holes into fences, and they would make paths for other vermin like rabbits to

join the party as well. It was basically a music festival except instead

of hipsters in headdresses… it was 6 foot tall flightless birds.

Terrifying.

So the farmers had a problem and they were getting pretty EMUtional about it.

But being a colony of ex-soldiers, they figured: if we get a few machine guns, we can fix this.

So they petitioned the Australian government and met with the minister for defense at the time:

George Pearce. And you'd think if a bunch of farmers went

up to the government and said, "We need machine guns to shoot some birds," they'd

be laughed right out of the room. But George Pearce heard them out, and he agreed

to supply them with a small army and guns.for 2 reasons. One: Birds would make excellent

target practice, and two: he figured it would be a good PR move. He even sent a camera crew

to cover the war, to show that he was taking care of the veterans.

But things were rocky from the start. The war was scheduled to begin in October 1932

but was delayed for a month due to rain…

Then on November 2nd, 1932, the troops arrived lead by Major G.P.W. Meredith of the Seventh

Heavy Battery of the Royal Australian Artillery.

The war was on! Pearce challenged the men to gather 100 emu skins… Inglourious Basterds style.

Each and every man under my command owes me 100 emu scalps! And I want my scalps!

Except, it seems emus are a lot harder to kill than Nazis.

The first attack was on a mob of about 50 emus… Which, side note… should've been

a sign of how tough this mission was gonna be that a group of emus is called a MOB.

With such a large group, the soldiers figured they could just fire their machine guns and

wipe them all out. I mean, the guns fired 300 rounds a minute… No man could escape

the hail.

Except, emus are no man.

The birds quickly ran out of range of the guns and began to adapt to the hunt -

Planet of the Emus style.

One soldier even said, "Each pack seems to have a leader now, a big black-plumed bird

which stands fully six feet high and keeps watch while his mates carry out their work

of destruction and warns them of our approach."

Which, again: terrifying BUT HILARIOUS! And if you think so too, make sure to hit that

like button! Or else the emus will find you.

Anyway, there was a report of some more tame emus down south which should've made for

easier targets, but even those ones were too tough for the men. Major Meredith finally

went F*** IT! And put the guns on the trucks for a good ol drive-by. But the emus outpaced

them! Clocking in at 50 kilometers per hour - or 31 miles per hour for you imperial heathens

- the trucks couldn't keep up and the ground was too unstable to take a shot.

They did manage to kill at least one bird... by running it over. Which caused the car to

swerve and crash into a fence. Even dead, the bird still won!

By November 8th, just 6 days after deployment, the first round of the war was over. The press,

originally outraged by the concept of cruelty behind the mission, just began to roast its

many failures. Reports of the number of emus killed ranged from 50 to 500. Either way,

with 20 000 emus… that means they only solved about 2.5% of the problem.

The birds still ruled the land.

Which sucked for the farmers who just wanted to work. So they continued to petition for help.

And by November 11th of the same year, the second round of the Emu war was approved

and the machine gun party returned on November 13th.

Now this time around, these men were battle-hardened. They knew the strengths and the weaknesses

of these birds. They were ready.

And a month later, on December 10th, in what must have been the highlight of Major G. P.

W. Meredith's military career… almost one thousand of the birds were dead.

986 in 9860 shots. A kill rate of 10%. The emus were scared off. MAN. HAD. WON!!!

Except, about 3 years later, the birds were back with a vengeance. Oops!

So that was just some cool history on the great emu war. Now, what about you guys? What

should I talk about next week? The wild life of Julius Caesar or are you up to learn about

the best hoaxes history has to offer? Tell me down below. Don't forget to subscribe

Who's Your Twin? -- DONG - Duration: 5:20.

Hey. Hey. Hey there! I'm Jake.

And unfortunately I have to go because

It's jellotime.com. uhh that's a DONG something you can do online now guys. Alright I'm gonna go.

Well there's a table here. I'm gonna go this way.

Alright. Dongs. okay.

Hey it's me Jake! JK it's really Chris Hemsworth as Thor.

Bet you thought it was me since we look 21% alike. Oh yeah I'm so muscular and strong.

On twinsornot.net you can upload a photo of someone from the internet.

Then do the same for yourself and it will calculate the similarity.

For example, Albert Einstein and I are 33% similar.

Which is not a lot but to be even 1% of a man so handsome, so debonair, is an honor.

Hey I look 52% like Skylar Astin from the movie Pitch Perfect which I have never seen but obviously Hannah who wrote the script really likes.

This reminds me that I have to come up with the PERFECT transition but I have

NoTime.zone.

Which allows you to create an event and send it anywhere in the world without having to

figure out the time difference yourself.

I just decided right now that I'm having a party tonight in New York and everyone is

invited.

You you you!

I'll go ahead and give it a title "Impromptu Party That Everyone Is Invited To What Could

Possibly Go Wrong?" and then you can make some sub-events.

At 6:30 everyone picks up name tags, at 7:00 everyone laughs at my jokes, at 7:30 we play

boggle.

But I'll let loose and set Jake RoPARRTTAYY to 6:00pm, send it to someone over in LA where

now it says 3:00 PM.

WHOA!

Someone's excited for my party.

Oh wait no that's just

Drum Kit on ronturner.tv.

Which isn't like any instrument I've personally come across because each key creates a totally

different sound and a lot of them are...well just listen.

But once you've played around with them enough and figured out what key corresponds

to what sound then maybe you can create a beautiful symphony...or at least this.

That sounds as cohesive as the movement of these oddly shaped dudes on

The Economists.

This site features a group of cute little people, or one cute little person duplicated

several times, closely following financial trends.

It goes up and down and up and down and up and OH NO!

It's over here now!

That's because you're in control.

This DONG is perfect for fulfilling your desire to confuse financial analysts. Whatever that means.

Check this out.

They're just watching it not suspecting a thing when BAM it's over here.

Now it's here.

Now it's here. *sounds. ECONOMY. *cough*

Alright they worked hard so let's give them a break with

This relaxing DONG.

Put it on full screen and just lose yourself in the DONG journey to self realization as you

steer through a peaceful tunnel of shapes and colors.

Wait it's going a little fast.

Slow down!

SLOW DOWN!

Excuse me I have to go throw up. When ya get a little nauseous it's nice to chew some gum.

Here take a piece.

LAWL TRICKED YA! As the kids say. Dab Dab.

Now you're in searing pain, so sear bread with

Toaster Swipe a game that gives you empathy towards kitchen appliances.

Click and swipe up to pick up pieces of toast but make sure you watch out for these evil

spinning bagels of doom and these spiky pink donuts of death.

To proceed to the next level you have to get to this cute little smiling slice here who

is patiently waiting for you.

But if you feel like you could be better at playing DONGs train yourself on

Aim Booster, recommended on the DONG twitter which by the way please feel free to follow and subscribe and smash that like button.

This is a fun and stressful site because it really puts yours skills to the test.

There are categories like precision, reaction time, and speed.

I'll practice speed.

You have the option to disable "Misclick=lose life" but keeping it will force you to focus

on precision as well.

It's pretty tough to last a long time but prove me wrong and make me proud because EYE

by a green robotic arm of course.

Now that you've found some common ground help him find her by navigating through these

levels.

When you've collected a lense, use "A" to activate and deactivate it.

By doing so you will be able to pass through certain barriers.

In later levels it becomes more complicated.

Like to get closer to the key you need to pass a barrier but have to quickly change

the lense again so that the key doesn't fall to the spikes.

Hello. My name is what? My name is

My name is who? My name is wikiwiki links down in the description.

There's also a playlist right here full of DONGs to fill your eyes.

Haha. That kind of sounded a little bit like Jeff Goldblum for a second in Jurassic Park. Anyway

I'm gonna go again. Even though I left in the beginning.

But I'm back. Indecisive. And as always, thanks for watching.

'Weird! Signal' Mystery Solved! - Duration: 5:37.

[♪ INTRO]

I've lost count of how many times I've had to say this, but, spoiler alert:

we did not find aliens.

Ever get a missed call from a blocked number?

It's the most frustrating thing.

Maybe it was just a scammer, but it could also have been someone

you actually wanted to talk to.

And you might never find out who it was.

Now imagine if that missed call came from an alien star system.

That's what happened to a group of researchers from the University of Puerto Rico, and when

they announced it a couple weeks ago, it started a furious hunt for the source.

The team was using the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico to study some nearby stars

when they picked up a really weird signal... which they called the "Weird!

Signal", because astronomers are creative that way.

For radio telescopes like Arecibo, strange signals aren't all that rare.

Lots of things emit radio waves that can interfere with measurements,

from microwave ovens to air traffic control radar.

That's why we tend to build big radio telescopes out in the middle of nowhere.

But this signal was especially unusual.

For one thing, it seemed to come from a single spot in the sky,

in the same direction as a red dwarf star called Ross 128.

The signal also showed what's known as dispersion,

meaning that the frequency of the signal changed over time.

There were a few possible explanations

for the Weird! Signal:

One was that the signal was coming from the star itself.

Red dwarfs are some of the most dynamic stars in the galaxy, so maybe this was just a way

they emit radio waves that we've never seen before.

It could have also been some strange activity from something else along the telescope's

line of sight, either in front of or behind the star, that we couldn't see.

The third main possibility was that the signal didn't come from deep space at all, and

we were just seeing some interference from a satellite.

Problem is, none of those explanations fit perfectly.

Which is why a lot of people latched onto the other option, the one that astronomers

don't like to bring up too much because people tend to get carried away:

It could be aliens.

For the research team, that was always at the bottom of the list, probability-wise.

In theory, anything we see in space that we can't explain could be caused by aliens.

But astronomers have discovered a lot of unexpected things over the years,

and so far aliens have never been the answer.

But you know the internet.

An astronomer says the words "extraterrestrial life" and suddenly there are headlines about

how we've discovered little green people.

So, while social media and the more tabloid-y side of the internet was collectively freaking

out, astronomers around the world started using other telescopes to look at Ross 128.

The first results are in, and surprise: it's not aliens.

The signal's probably coming from geostationary satellites: satellites that orbit with the

Earth's rotation so they stay at the same point in the sky all the time.

These satellites tend to hang out at the Earth's equator, which is exactly where the astronomers

pointed their telescope to observe Ross 128.

That explains why astronomers only saw the signal

while they were looking at that one star.

Geostationary satellites also use similar frequencies to the ones detected,

so it all makes sense.

But there's still one thing researchers aren't totally sure how to explain:

that weird dispersion effect.

Normally, signals from satellites don't change frequencies in that kind of pattern.

The original Puerto Rican team thinks the dispersion might come from

the radio waves reflecting somehow, but they'll need more time

to figure out exactly what's going on.

Meanwhile, we'll have to hunt for E.T. somewhere else.

But the Weird! Signal isn't the only weird thing that happened recently.

Last week, Elon Musk said that he's pretty sure SpaceX's new Falcon Heavy rocket will

explode during its first test launch, which is supposed to happen later this year.

Once it's up and running, the Falcon Heavy will be the company's first

heavy-duty launcher and the most powerful rocket in the world.

And they fully expect this giant rocket to explode

the first time they try launching it.

No big.

But it does kind of make sense.

Creating the Falcon Heavy has been a long road.

SpaceX originally wanted it to be ready by 2013,

but four years later it hasn't even been test-launched yet.

Part of the problem is that the rocket's design is tricky: it's basically three of

the company's smaller Falcon 9 rockets duct-taped together.

Since SpaceX has been flying the Falcon 9 for years, you might think it would be an

easy transition; Musk himself admitted as much.

But it turns out that a rocket with 27 engines is a lot different than one with nine.

For the Falcon Heavy to fly straight, all 27 need to be operating in perfect unison,

but that's not the only challenge.

All those extra engines also mean a ton of extra vibration and a lot more physical stress,

so SpaceX engineers have had to totally redesign the main body of the rocket

to keep it from ripping apart.

They're also planning to start pairs of engines a few milliseconds after each other,

because the force from all those engines starting up at once could warp the rocket's structure.

So there are a lot of complicated challenges and new designs with this rocket,

and the only way to find out if it actually works is to fly it.

And odds are at least one of the things they're trying isn't going to work.

Which means the rocket will blow up.

Musk says he just hopes the explosion happens long enough after liftoff

to keep it from damaging the launchpad, too.

But even if the rocket explodes, the data from the test will help engineers

figure out what they need to fix.

Plus, if a rocket's going to explode, you definitely want it to happen during the testing

phase, and not afterward when it's flying actual missions.

And it's worth the effort: once the kinks are worked out, the Falcon Heavy will be able

to launch more than four times as much as the Falcon 9.

That's a big deal for companies looking to fly bigger satellites, and it might be

an even bigger deal for exploring the solar system.

A more powerful rocket can go farther and faster, and it can also carry more,

which would allow scientists to include more instruments on future missions.

Trump's Justice Department says gays aren't eligible for civil rights protections - Duration: 2:49.

Trumps Justice Department says gays arent eligible for civil rights protections

Under President Barack Obama, the Department of Justice staunchly supported gay rights.

Those days are long gone.

The Department of Justice filed an amicus brief on Wednesday, claiming that the 1964

Civil Rights Act does not extend to sexual orientation, according to a report by CNN.

Title VII of the landmark legislation protects employees from discrimination based on color,

national origin, race, religion and sex but doesnt actually include sexual orientation.

The amicus brief was filed in the case of Donald Zarda, a former skydiving instructor

who claims he was fired for mentioning his sexual orientation to a customer (he has since

then passed away). That case didnt involve the federal government, so its a bit surprising

that the Justice Department would weigh in.

The question presented is not whether, as a matter of policy, sexual orientation

discrimination should be prohibited by statute, regulations, or employer action, the Justice

Department wrote. In fact, Congress and the executive branch have prohibited such

discrimination in various contexts. The sole question here is whether, as a matter

of law, Title VII reaches sexual orientation discrimination.

The amicus brief adds, It does not, as has been settled for decades. Any efforts

to amend Title VIIs scope should be directed to Congress rather than the courts.

Although President Barack Obamas Justice Department pursued a pro-LGBT policy in cases

ranging from the repeal of Dont Ask, Dont Tell to the marriage equality case

Obergefell v. Hodges, lower courts have been divided over whether Title VII applies to

discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.

In March, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals (representing Alabama, Florida and Georgia)

ruled that Title VII does not prevent discrimination based on sexual orientation. One month later,

however, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals (representing Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin)

ruled that LGBT workers are in fact protected by that statute.

It remains to be seen whether the amicus brief from the Justice Department will ultimately

compel an unfavorable ruling for the civil rights of LGBT individuals.

An Interview with 3x TCO BJJ Open Fundraiser & Competitor Jessica Bal - Duration: 4:53.

- When I was 13 he had a ruptured brain aneurism

and no one else was home.

He had it in front of me, actually.

My mom was away for work in Puerto Rico

and my brother was in college.

Puked up blood everywhere, like everywhere.

They said he was pretty much

(clicks)

that night.

Let's see, probably in a coma for about three weeks.

Then he came out of it and…survived.

Like, he had a stroke while in the coma,

he's broken his back before, too.

Lyme disease, he was like God's medical punching bag.

Couple of years ago he ended up getting stage three,

which rapidly became stage four pancreatic (cancer).

He was diagnosed in February of 2014.

I mean, they guy had survived so much before.

Like, he moved here when he was 18 from Allepo, Syria.

One of the worst parts of the world.

Went back, met my mom, married her, brought her over here.

Brought her from Turkey.

Cancer really knocked him on his ass, though.

It was two years with stage four.

And never seen anybody suffer so much.

You just watch, basically,

like the most important person

in your life like, waste away.

I know I needed something after he passed

'cause I would just, you know, you internalize

and then repress and repress.

And I started jiu jitsu again.

And this was perfect.

'Cause you don't think about anything on the mat.

You literally get on there

and use technique.

You don't feel much of anything

aside from just focusing on what you're doing at the time.

It's awesome, I love it.

My dad died on January 26th, last year.

My birthday was July 18th.

It was the first birthday without my dad

so I went to work and I went home just lost it

'cause it was bad.

And I came here the next day and I saw the flyers on the table.

I'm like, oh, okay.

And then I saw the bottom for like Pancreatic Cancer Action (Network),

I'm like, what the hell.

(laughs)

Are you serious?

Like, what are the odds that

that's gonna be who it'll benefit.

And they delivered them the day before on my birthday.

So it was like, okay.

I get it.

So I signed up.

And that was nerve wracking.

But I drove up to Boston

and I crashed at my friend's place the night before

and then he came with me to the tournament

and I got second place there.

Like, when you walk in this place

it's just like everybody seems to be friendly there.

It was a weird vibe but it was positive.

And it's almost overwhelming, too.

It was different from any other tournament I've ever,

kind of, had the privilege of even

walking into or experiencing.

It was great.

I bought my mom a couple of these shirts

for the ones I competed in.

I gave her my medals.

She put them right in her lamp shade.

(laughs)

You wanna hang, no, no, right here,

right next to my bed, I don't care how it looks.

(laughs)

And she just put two on my dad's side.

It was really cute.

It's probably one of the best things

I've ever done in my life.

Outside of trying to help take care of my dad with my mom,

and then staying with her most of the time the year after,

'cause they were together 41 years.

This is probably one of the most

important things I've ever done in my life.

- [Man] For people who didn't meet your dad,

how would you remember him to them?

- He still wanted to help other people.

He was in hospice and if he heard someone else he's like,

go make sure they're okay, too.

(laughs)

Like, really?

Oh, no, no, I don't.

The nurse is here, okay, just in case.

He was my hero, he was my everything.

I was his little slugger.

He didn't care that I was a little tomboy.

My mom always wanted me to be dainty

and she knows isn't gonna happen.

'Cause she put me in a dress and I'd roll in mud.

First she was a little freaked out about jiu jitsu,

now she loves it.

'Cause she knows my dad would've loved it.

He would've been like, yeah, go!

No matter what I did,

he'd want everyone to be happy.

And that was all came down to.

What's the Real Cost of Rental Housing? - Duration: 4:14.

- [Narrator] Housing is a basic need.

Housing you can afford, safe, reliable, rental housing

shouldn't be out of reach.

But in cities across the country, a crisis is brewing.

In the Minneapolis area, affordable rental housing

is almost impossible to find.

Ironically, it's the result of a strong economy.

- Our region has experienced population growth,

in addition to having a strong economy,

there is a new, renewed interest

in moving in to the center cities.

- Some of those areas that maybe were less fashionable

twenty years ago, ten years ago,

now people want to be by buses or transit,

now, they may want to be down town.

- Being a renter, being an apartment dweller,

is becoming a lifestyle.

And we are a lifestyle city.

- Very walkable environment,

and very exciting, vital, urban scene,

where there's lots of coffee shops,

there's shopping, there's dining,

your apartment might be small,

but you're kind of in the middle of a lot of action,

and that's a lifestyle choice.

- [Bernadette] So despite all the new housing we're seeing

in for example downtown Minneapolis,

overall, vacancy rates are very low.

- [Narrator] Young adults are finding themselves

as both victims of the crisis, and, unknowingly,

factors in making it worse.

Predictably, they are being painted with a broad brush.

- If twenty years ago we'd looked,

how could you have predicted how

the millennial group would act.

You couldn't predict it.

- Millennials don't want the responsibility

of home ownership, they want to live in a rental property

and so that's a whole other dynamic at play.

- And as a result, landlords are seeing the opportunity

to raise rents, placing increasing pressure

on the rental market, particularly on the lower end.

- Investors are responding by taking

some of the existing housing and marketing it

to higher income people.

- [Narrator] Up scaling older buildings

brings new life into aging properties.

But it comes at a price.

This Minneapolis area complex formerly known as Crossroads

is a painful example.

- There were 2300 residents here,

it almost needed it's own zip code.

(laughs)

You know, it was like a little city.

A very multi cultural community.

- If you've been in a place for 15 years,

that's home for you.

- [Warren] On September of 2015, the complex was sold.

- The investor and the new landlord came in

and had some ideas about how he wanted

to upscale the property and effectively gave notice

to vacate 698 units.

- The new owners immediately increased rents by 30%,

they required all existing tenants to reapply

under much tougher admissions standards,

they added amenities designed to appeal to

a different tenant population,

and they stopped involvement in any government programs.

- I even have my fiance added to the lease,

between the both of us, we have four jobs,

you know, two apiece, and if that's not enough,

I mean, I don't know what to say.

- [Chip] Folks at the bottom end

of the income spectrum

are loosing out in this very competitive situation.

- What happens if this neighborhood transitions,

if this neighborhood changes, if this building is sold.

We know exactly what is going to happen.

Hundreds of thousands of families are going to be displaced.

And we don't have a plan B for these families.

- [Narrator] For most renters, finding a

great spot to live is your reason to celebrate.

But just as we value knowing that our coffee beans

are fair trade, and our produce is sustainably grown,

should we not also value knowing that our housing

didn't come with a human cost?

- [Patricia] I think this is a generation

that is very willing

to opt for

housing solutions

that are much more sustainable.

- [Narrator] Learn more about the battle to save

affordable housing by watching
