Adi-chan: We need to put society's needs before the individual's needs?

Silly onii-chan! That's a Hitler believed!

Sargon: What happens when the rights of an individual end up presenting a threat to the collective and its goals?

The answer is of course the invalidation of the individual's rights in order to protect

the collective and advance its agenda.

It is

inevitable that every collective will end up violating the rights of any individuals that oppose it.

The very existence of the collectivist ideology

Demands conversion or destruction of members of the alt group who threaten the stability and integrity of the collective.

This isn't merely a byproduct of collectivism. It is an absolute requirement of it.

The rights of the individual are not only irrelevant in the face of the collective, but are actively detrimental to it.

Top 10 Best Gen 1 Pokemon - Duration: 12:41.

Greetings everyone, my name is Syy!

So, you read the title.

The Top 10 Best Gen 1 Pokemon!

Just one thing, we're going to throw in a rule.

"Starters/Legendaries/ and Pikachu" are not allowed.

If they were, they would populate the list almost exclusively, and if you wanna see the

most boring version of this video possible, then I'm sure WatchMojo's done something

like this.

So without further ado, The Top 10 Best Gen 1 Pokemon.

Let's begin.

Number 10: Jigglypuff I love Pokemon with personality, because it

reminds me of what I lack, and by virtue of the anime, Jigglypuff probably has one of

the most memorable personalities of any Pokemon.

Jigglypuff is an adorable ball of cuteness that's only desire in life is for people

to listen to it sing.

Unfortunately, it's voice is SO nice to listen to, that everyone who hears it's

song falls asleep.

Unfortunately, that pisses Jigglypuff off to the point that it uses it's microphone/...marker

(Buy one today!) to draw dicks on people's faces.

It's akin to a Greek tragedy really.

Like Sisyphus and the bolder, except they've been combined together into a pink floof.

Number 9: Snorlax You know...

I'm not really sure why I like Snorlax.

I just sorta feel like he... gets me, you know?

He's also got a great design.

It's simple, but not TOO simple.

It's also really strong, and can easily steamroll multiple Elite 4 members by itself.

Yeah...

Snorlax is...

Snorlax is... good...

Number 8: Ditto So, this here is my cop out answer.

Since Dito can turn into any Pokemon, I want you to imagine any Pokemon that you like but

that I didn't put on this list, and bamn, now it's on the list, just with little dots

for eyes.

Speaking of, it's now been accepted in the canon that that's just what Ditto's look

like when they transform, but that wasn't how it started off as.

In Ditto's introductory episode of the anime, it was Duplica's ditto always kept it's

dot eyes, and that was a problem with that one ditto specifically, and was overcome by

the end of the episode.

But the idea stuck around and has been making Nintendo easy money by selling existing plushes

a second time with minor alterations ever since.

Number 7: Growlithe This one's pretty simple.

Growlithe is a dog.

I adore dogs.

Ergo, I adore Growlithe.

He is, of course, a fire type which are rare enough to be worth catching whenever you come

across them anyways, a pretty color scheme, and a design that just makes you wanna boop

the heck out of his snoot and call him a good doogo.

But if you want something more substantial than that, he's also the first fire-type

Pokemon you can get in Red and Blue if you chose the correct starter, and just before

the grass gym too, which makes that a cakewalk.

He's amazing.

What else can you say but, "GROWLITHE!

GROWL-Uhg, I suck at this.

Hold on, I'm gonna call in a professional.

Boop boop boop Boooooop.

Boooooop.

Hey, I need a Growlithe voice.

Okay cool, here, I'll put him on.

Number 6: Magikarp Now there are a couple things I ADORE about

Magikarp.

Firstly, I love it's design.

The idea of this Pokemon is that it's absolutely worthless, and and nothing says worthless

quite like a thousand yard stare and a stupid moustache.

But at the same time, it's also an immediately striking design, with the bright red immediately

grabbing your attention, and the pale yellow doing a great job contrasting with it.

And second, some of my all time favorite Pokemon are the ones that stand out from the crowd

via the unique stories you get in either obtaining or training them, and one of the best examples

of that is Magikarp.

So you get the Old Rod and immediately take it out for a spin, but all you can catch is

this worthless fish that only knows splash.

But you stick with it, and train him up by sending him out at the start of battles and

then switching out, which always made me wonder what the other trainer thought of that.

"Magikarp, go!

HI!

I CAN'T HIT ANYTHING!

BYE!"

But eventually, your efforts are rewarded as he reaches Lv. 20 and evolves into Gyrados,

and suddenly becomes a BEAST who can 1-Hit KO every Pokemon in the game.

Not only does that do a great job at making you bond with it and end up being an awesome

story, but I find Magikarp weirdly inspirational.

Like, even the most worthless, weakest Pokemon you can imagine still has the potential for

greatness somewhere inside it, and speaking as the most worthless, weakest human you can

imagine, that gives me hope.

Number 5: Slowpoke Slowpoke is amazing.

It's gimmick is that it's a pokemon so dumb that it's achieved nirvana and gained

psychic powers.

Like, it went so far down the scale of stupid, that it integer underflowed and came back

out the other side!

I also like the idea that it uses it's tail to fish for Pokemon, and it evolves if it

ever catches a Shelter, at which point they enter into a symbiotic relationship.

Also, his stupid face is adorable.

Number 4: Victreebel I've mentioned this a lot in the past, but

I am a lover of villains, the kind of kid who actively rooted for Jessie and James to

steal Pikachu.

As such, I always found myself having a bias towards the Pokemon they used.

If you had asked 6 year-old me what my favorite Pokemon was, I would've chosen "Koffing"

to the point that my father actually made me a Koffing cake for a birthday back then,

but these days, I think my favorite member of the original gang is one that's not as

well-remembered as Weezing and Arbok, James's' Victreebel.

Oh how I love Victreebel, let me count the ways.

First of all, his colors are great.

The Yellow and Green design with a red accent along his mouth works great and is extremely

visually striking.

Second, it's based off a venus fly trap, which is the objectively coolest plant of

all time.

["Uh, actually it's based on a Nepenthes, a type of tropical pitcher plant."]

So yeah, Venus Fly Trap.

Third and finally, I will never forget the sound it makes in the anime.

It's so weird, but somehow it fits really well!

So in conclusion, I'd let Victreebel swallow and dissolve me in acid, any day.

Number 3: Gastly Gastly.

Do I even need to explain myself with this one?

Honestly the entire line is incredible, but of them all, I think Gastly stands out for

just how it's so simple but at the same time so memorable!

It's a ball of gas with angry eyes, yet I don't think anyone would argue if I called

it one of/ if not the best ghost Pokemon of all time!

And not only that, but Gastly is also inextricably linked in my mind to The Ghost Of Maiden's

Peak episode of the anime, in which it has the starring role, and is the cause of 20

minutes of refined batshit insanity.

That episode has everything!

Horrifying imagery, references to real life animals existing alongside Pokemon, Misty

rips off the Exorcist and uses the Christian God which I guess exists now in the Pokemon

universe to compel Gastly to leave, Venusaur and Blastoise use Polymerization and fuse

together into Venotoise (Blastosaur?) and of course at the end it goes all Helen of

Troy on us as we see Misty in a yukata.

10/10, amazing Pokemon, it doesn't get any better than that!

Except it does, at least two more times.

Number 2: Eevee So let's give Eevee the number two spot,

and I'll personally take the, "Sun Rising In The Morning" award for the inevitability

of that pick.

But I can't help it, Eevee is beloved for a reason, because he's SO CUTE.

Eevee is (of course) the evolution Pokemon, and can evolve into an ever growing number

of different Pokemon, each of them being an exemplar of their respective type.

Just like with Growlithe, Eevee is a dog, and dogs are wonderful, so Eevee is wonderful.

Also just like Growlithe, you can get him before the Grass gym in Red and Blue, and

if you evolve him into a Flareon, it becomes a walkover.

Honestly Eevee is just a better version of Growlithe with more options, but hey, there's

room enough in my heart for all the doggos of the world.

Number 1: Abra I talked about how awesome Pokemon that give

memorable experiences are, but more so than Magikarp, Abra really steals the show in that

regard.

Imagine it: you're playing Red and Blue, and you're in the grass outside of Cerulean,

you get a random encounter, and it's an Abra.

At that moment, your asshole clenches so hard you could use it to crack walnuts, because

you know, you only get ONE chance.

If it succeeds, you'll have a psychic Pokemon with incredible potential to help you for

the rest of your run.

But the only move that Abra knows is teleport, so you can't lower it's healthy any, and

if your first Pokeball fails, it's gone, and because Abra only has a 15% encounter

rate, with your luck, it could be the only one you see for the next half hour.

So you throw your only Pokeball.

You're mashing down and B as hard as you can, and praying to Arceus that just this

once, it stays in the ball.

I have that experience once a playthrough, and it's always one of the most memorable

parts for me.

That combined with Abra's OP-ness, especially back in Red & Blue, and a design that just

SCREAMS "Psychic" make him one of my all time favorites.

Kayley Hide from the U.S. – EF Guest Vlog - Duration: 5:16.

Hello everybody!

My name is Kayley Hide and I am from Seattle, Washington,

which is in the upper northwest corner of the United States of America.

On my channel, I make videos about books and reading.

Today, I'm so excited to be guest vlogging for EF

to talk about my favorite books set in the state of California.

I lived in southern California for almost three years.

I've also traveled all over the state.

So, whenever I find a really good book that is set there, I feel like I'm back there again.

The six novels that I'm going to share in this video

are set in different cities all across the state

and really capture the essence of the area they're set in.

I know a lot of you might be traveling to California in the near future,

so let's get started talking about those books.

The first book I have to recommend to you today is The Girls by Emma Kline.

This is set in northern California, a little outside of the San Francisco area.

It's set during the violent end of the 1960s. It's split between two time periods:

partially in the 1960s and in modern day times as well.

It's written from the perspective of a girl named Evie.

Evie sees this group of girls and she's so caught up in their aura of freedom and carelessness.

She immediately wants to become a part of that.

She gets drawn into this kind of cult scene, hidden away in the hills on this sprawling ranch

where she is desperate to find acceptance.

It's a really dark book that gets quite violent,

but it does this amazing job of setting the scene of the 1960s

in northern California on a sprawling ranch and hot summer days.

As soon as I picked up this book,

I felt like I was there on a hot northern California summer's day.

It's a really powerful and incredible novel.

The next book I want to talk about is Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan.

It's set in this really cute, small, quaint, bookstore in San Francisco.

Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore is a story about data, computers, coding,

and the future of books.

There's a bit of a love story but, ultimately,

I feel like it's a love story about books themselves,

and what's going to happen to the book industry in the future.

It's a great book for booklovers.

It's set in a futuristic San Francisco that's quite similar to how it is now,

but with small differences that make it really interesting.

It's really about the divide between

people who love physical copies of books with pages that they can smell,

versus people who think that the printed book is dead.

It's whimsical, smart and contemporary and a great mix of futuristic and fairy-tale.

The next book is a young adult novel, and it is

Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins.

Lola and the Boy Next Door is another book set in San Francisco.

What makes this one really different is that it's about a younger girl who really wants

to become a costume designer and is involved in the quirky areas of the city.

It's a really cute, contemporary story about a girl who thinks she has her life together.

She knows what she wants to do with her life. She has a boyfriend who she really loves.

Then, these two people she knew when she was younger move back into the house next door to her.

The book is a lot about her finding herself, as well as which boy she's going to end up with.

Is it the boy next door or her rocker boyfriend?

All while being set in the cool, eclectic neighborhoods of San Francisco.

It's quite different from the other books I've mentioned.

It's a really cute book. It's really fun and

I think it does a really good job of getting you invested in the city in a different way.

I swear, this is my last book set in San Francisco.

This is You Know me Well by David Levithan and Nina LaCour.

This is the story of a few different kids who go to high school together

and really come together during Gay Pride Week in San Francisco, which is huge in San Francisco.

It's one of their biggest week-long events.

It's really fun. It really captures that spirit of San Francisco.

I think it's a great, quick read if you're looking for something based in that city.

The next book I have is one of my favorite books of 2017 so far.

It's The Mothers by Brit Bennett.

The Mothers is set in a contemporary black community/neighborhood

in southern California, right around San Diego, I believe.

It's a story of community, ambition and love, and how all those things come together.

It kind of begins with a secret and how a secret in a small community feeds and grows,

and eventually comes out and everyone knows what's going on.

The writing is beautiful. It really captures the community aspect of the book.

You really get that southern California feeling to it.

It's just beautiful. It has beautiful writing. I love that book.

The final book I have for you today is Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour.

I'm actually reading this book right now for the first time

and I already have to recommend it to people because it's so great.

Everything Leads to You is set in Hollywood and follows a teenaged set designer

as she tries to make her way in the Hollywood movie scene.

Already, a few chapters in, the spirit and feeling of Hollywood is so present in this book.

It feels very Los Angeles, very L.A. It has a great romance between two girls.

It tells a great story of ambition and following your dreams, of love, acceptance, family ….

It's got it all. I'm only a little bit of the way in, but I already know it's a great book for those of you

looking for a book about California and especially Hollywood.

Whether you're planning a trip to California or just want to read a book to escape there,

these books will do a great job of representing the diversity of the state and its people.

I hope you love these books as much as I do.

Thank you again for welcoming me to the EF YouTube channel and Happy Reading! Bye!

Huge Summer Book Haul | Haul #31 [CC] - Duration: 10:36.

Hello there, it's Samantha. So today, I'm coming to you with my summer book haul and I already

hauled some books in June but I haven't done my haul for July, August or, I do

have some books from September which I'm gonna go ahead and include in this haul.

Just because I also need to announce the fact that I'm going on a book buying ban.

I'm terrible at sticking to my book buying bans, so I feel like, if I

announce it, that you guys will help me stick to it. Please I need your help!

1: I have a lot of books that I haven't read, so it's kind of like crushing me,

the weight of having these unread books on my shelves. And then also, I'm going to

university and I cannot afford to buy books like it's going out of style! I

think it's about time that I go on a book buying ban. So, I will say that I am

actually getting another book later on in September, because I'm going to a book

signing and the ticket for this actually included the price of the book and you

had to buy the book in order to go to the event. So I have already bought the

book, so I will be getting it later on in September, but apart from that, the only

books I'll be buying are ones I have to get for University. And obviously, I'll be

buying textbooks. I'm not counting that within the book buying ban because that

is necessary for my course. But apart from that, I will not be buying any more

books. I think that's enough talking before I get into the haul that I'm

just gonna... I'm just gonna do it because otherwise we're gonna be here for a long time!

So before I actually get into books, I have a few non-bookish things which

are like similar-ish. So the first thing is this journal. This is the journal that

I'm currently using. This is just one that I got from WHSmith it was

£5.99 which is super cheap. So if you live in the UK, and you're into journaling and

you're like "where should I get my next one?" definitely go to Smith's they had

some great journals in there! Like it took me a solid 15 minutes to choose

which one I wanted because there were so many great ones! I settled for this one

in the end. I just love the pattern and it's like my favorite colour. I really

like this one. I'm totally gonna destroy it because I'm already like sort of

destroying it, but it's fine.

Next thing I have is this planner. I've always used a

planner for school to write down my homework and stuff. Normally, I get to a

point where I stop using it and I just get behind on all my homework, but I feel

like I actually need to be properly organized in uni. So I got this one. It's pretty

thin but it was super cheap. It was like £3-something on Amazon. And it's just

got this like weekly view, so I can like put down all my assignments and then on

the weekends I could put down my plans, or, you know, I could maybe put down like

how I'm gonna manage my time - which, I mean, I'm probably gonna spend all my

time drinking but who knows! I really love this pattern. I just think it's

cute and it's really little so it's not gonna weigh me down when I'm walking

around to classes. I got this so I could try and plan my life a little bit.

The next thing I have actually goes along with the first book that I have, and that

is some swag - I don't know why I said it like that. But basically the first book

I have, is the one that I bought in July, cuz I only bought one book in July, and

that was Because You Love To Hate Me by a bunch of authors but edited by

Ameriie. And there was some pre-order swag, so it came with this little notepad.

It also came with this pencil. And this, if you don't know, is a collection of 13 short

stories about villains written by a bunch of these authors. And they were

paired up with a booktuber who gave them like a writing prompt and I'm really

enjoying it! I've only got two stories left but it also came with a signed

book plate and it was signed by Ameriie That's the first one and this is

obviously the British paperback edition.

So basically, the problem with August was

that I started off pretty badly. On like August 4th or something like that

I went book shopping with my friend Becca, and we went to Waterstones, and I

bought three books. I don't tend to buy three books in one day, so it was a bit

much. And then I bought two more books later on that day on Amazon. So... I bought

five books in one day and it went downhill from there.

The first book I bought when Becca and I went to Waterstones was

To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han.

I wasn't gonna get this and I saw it and I was like "I've

been meaning to read it for so long" So I just picked it up. I was like" you know what, I'm

gonna get it" and Becca was like "yeah that book sounds so cute you should get

it they're turning it into a movie. Definitely get it." So I got it and I've already read

it. I talked about in my August wrap-up, so if you're interested in my thoughts, I

will link that down below so you can go and check it out. If you don't know what this book is

about, this book is about a girl called Lara Jean and she writes these love

letters to these people who she used to have crushes on, but no longer has

crushes on them. It's like her way of getting over them and so she writes

these letters, she addresses them, she puts them in a box and leaves them. And then

one day they all get sent out. It's about everything that ensues after that. It's just so cute

and fun and light-hearted. Also, the best thing about this is that it's not set in

summer, so you can read this like during the school time and still have that fun,

contemporary feeling, without it being summery, because I feel like so many

contemporaries are super summery and you're just like I don't want a summer

contemporary, I want something that I can read all the time!

The next book I have was one I also got in Waterstones because they have a buy-one-get-one-half

price deal that's always going on. And this was in there and I've been meaning to read

this for so long. And that is Salt To The Sea by Ruta Sepetys. My friend Becca,

who I went shopping with, loves this book, and she was like "Samantha you have

to read it!" And everyone loves this book and the guy in Waterstones was like "yeah

that book is great. You need to get it". And I really love this paperback cover

so I was like I'm gonna get it. I actually really enjoy historical fiction,

I just never reach for it. I don't really know why because I really enjoy it every

time I read it. I will be reading this in September, because my September TBR jar

challenge was to read a historical fiction book, and I know that Becca will

be on my case about it forever until I read it. So I'm gonna read it!

The next book I have is actually also a historical fiction, and this was the one

that I also got in the buy-one-get-one-half-price deal and that is

The Girls by Emma Cline. I've just heard that this book is great. I read 2 pages and

I was like super hooked but then I came home and then I was like oh my god it's

gonna be scary and I won't be able to sleep and I had work to go to. but now I

don't work anymore, I should read this! I'm not entirely sure what this book's

about, I just know that it features the Manson murders and it's set in the 60s.

It's supposed to be great. I'm really excited to read it. I've seen it

everywhere and it's about time I actually get to it!

The next book that I got is one that Becca recommended to me and that is

The Secret History by Donna Tartt

I bought this one used from Amazon so it was super cheap. And I'm not entirely

sure what this book is about, but I'm quite sure that there's like a murder

because Becca made me read the prologue when we were in Waterstones

and they were talking about a body. And I'm pretty sure that this group of

people killed someone. And I'm excited to see how the rest the story goes.

Now, the final book that I bought on that day was one I had had my eye on for so long

because like everyone was getting it when these books were first coming out.

And I was like I just... I need it and I really want the other editions too, but I

only got this edition because this is my house, but of course I had to get one of

the Harry Potter 20th anniversary editions.

I got the Slytherin edition because I am a Slytherin. I just love this one so

much with the green and that I love it so much. I really want to get the

Ravenclaw one as well, because I would personally call myself a Slytherclaw

I really strongly identify with the Ravenclaw house, but unfortunately

Pottermore just has different plans for me and put me in Slytherin four times.

Apparently, I'm a Slytherin but I feel like a Ravenclaw

but I bought the Slytherin edition anyway because I'm happy to be in Slytherin.

Like it's fine I've accepted my fate

The next two books I actually won in a

giveaway, which I forgot that I'd entered, so I already owned both these books, but

I will be rehoming them to my friend Yasmin. but I already hauled these books

earlier this year, and that is The Sun Is Also A Star and Everything, Everything

both by Nicola Yoon. I entered to win this giveaway on the penguin platform

and they're both signed books as well. So I entered to win this giveaway and then

I completely forgot because they had quite a long entry period. So I

completely forgot and then went ahead and bought this book - I already owned

this one, but I hadn't bought this one yet. So then I went and bought this one and I

won and I was like "oh no I already own both of these!" but I was like I'm not gonna

turn them down, because I love having signed books, so I did actually get these

ones. But I will be, as I said, rehoming my other ones to my friend Yasmin. So

thank you so much to penguin platform for giving me these books!

On the day that I got my exam results my brother and I went shopping, and my brother

really wanted to go into HMV to get some headphones.

I did not know this, but HMV sells books and they sell books on the cheap. They

were two for £5, so of course, I bought four books! So, I originally, like I

saw them, I didn't think I was gonna get anything, but then I saw that they had these George Orwell

books, in these really nice editions which I love and I was like I just have

to get them! I've never actually read an Orwell book, but I've been meaning to

for the longest time. So I just picked up Animal Farm, 1984, obviously, and Down and

Out in Paris and London. I just really like these editions and they were super

cheap! As I said, those books were two for £5, so I had to get four books

and I saw that they had The Martian by Andy Weir! If you've been watching my

channel since June you will have seen that I loved this book! I read it back in

June. I didn't actually own a copy because I listened to it on audible, but

I saw it and I was like I have to get it because I love it so much! Those were the

4 books I got from HMV. So if you have an HMV near you, go check it out because

they sell books!

The next two books I got in August, I got because I had already

read the first book and really loved it and I was like I have to read the next

two books! And that was PS I Still Love You and Always and Forever, Lara Jean.

This is the sequel and the third book in the To All The Boys I've Loved Before series.

So I, of course, had to get them so I could finish off the series!

The last book that I bought in August was one that I got when I was on holiday with my

mum, and we were in this seaside town and they had a fair going on and

were selling some books super cheap. And I saw this book which is The Shadow of the

Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón. This book is set in Barcelona and I've heard great

things about this book. And I really wanted to get this because of its setting in

Barcelona because I want to do my year abroad in Barcelona. But I've heard

amazing things about this book and its set in Barcelona. I was like I'm just

gonna get it! I have no idea what it's about, but I'd heard great things, so I got it.

Because that's how I roll. I'm terrible.

Now we're on to the 2 books that I got in

September. Both of these books were pre-orders.

I'm super excited about both of them! The first book is, of course, Tower of Dawn by

Sarah J Maas. I'm conflicted about this one because I don't love Chaol as much

anymore. If you don't know. this is the sixth installment in the Throne of Glass

series. This was supposed to be just like a novella on the side about Chaol but it

turned into a freaking huge book. This book is massive. It is over 600 pages. I'm

kind of Sarah J Maas trash so it's fine like I will read it.

The final book that I bought was They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera.

This is one of my most anticipated reads of the year! I have loved everything I've read by him

and I met him earlier this year. He is the sweetest. He was talking about this

book and it just made me so excited! I love this

British edition! it's so shiny and like this spine is beautiful! If you don't

know, I love blue. Blue is my favorite colour

So everything blue I'm like "it's beautiful I love it!" Loving the blue

spine! If you don't know what this book is about, this book is about two characters called

Rufus and Mateo. They live in this world where, on the day you're gonna die, you

get like a message saying 'hey you're gonna die today!' It doesn't tell you when

you're gonna die, it doesn't tell you how you're gonna die, but just that you're

going to die on that day. So these two characters, Rufus and Mateo, meet using

this app called the last friend app, and they're trying to like live their life

to the fullest all in this day before they die. And I'm like... I know I'm gonna

cry. We'll see. I'm so excited to read it.
