Waching daily Nov 2 2017

(jazz guitar music)

- Hi everybody, my name is Jens Larsen.

Once you are familiar with sort of the basic

chord shapes that I talk about in my video

called How to Play Jazz Chords,

then you'll probably want to move on to create

some voicings that have a little bit more

variation in the melody, and you can

be a little bit more free with rhythmically.

So that's what I wanna go over in this video.

If you wanna learn more about playing jazz guitar,

about improvising, interesting chord voicings,

and voice leading, then subscribe to my channel.

If you wanna make sure not to miss anything,

then click the little bell notification icon

next to the subscribe button.

In this video, I'm going to go over the chord progression

of Lady Bird, and then I'm gonna show you

how you can find the chord voicings

using the material that I went over in the video

called How to Play Jazz Chords.

So if you don't already know, that's

the link in the description, you'll probably

want to check it out.

And then I'm gonna convert those voicings

to rootless voicings, and show you how

that opens up for some more interesting

top note melodies, and really a lot more variation

in the way you comp.

Let's just first look at the basic voicings

for this progression.

(plays "Lady Bird")

Now that we have the chords for this progression,

we can easily turn them into rootless voicings

by just leaving out the lowest note, so

if we take the Cmaj7 like this,

and then leave out the root, which is of course the C here,

then we get this.

And for the Fm7, we leave out the F.

And then we have this top part of it.

So now we have voicings for all the chords in the song,

and they're all on the middle string set,

and they don't contain any root.

And that sounds like this.

(plays "Lady Bird")

In the sheet music, I've only written out the voicings,

so I didn't write out the rhythm that I played,

but I think you can already hear that when I comp

different rhythms just using the upper part

of the voicing here, then I have a lot more freedom,

because it doesn't get so heavy.

If I play (strums jazz chord),

it takes up a little bit too much in the frequency spectrum

and it gets a little bit messy quite quickly.

Now that with have the chord voicings without a root,

we can also actually start to open up how we play

a top note melody on it.

For our first Cmaj7,

if we play it like this, we can also use

an alternative melody note in place of G,

so we can play the A.

(strums chord)

So we can make small melodies just using

that simple variation.

And for the F minor, we have this G top note,

where we can also use F and Ab.

And the same goes for the Bb7.

And then the next C major, I'm playing down here.

So here we have the E and the D.

For Bbm.

So, the F and the Eb.

And we have those two for the Eb seven as well.

And then also a G.

For the Abmaj7,

the Eb and the F.

For the Am7,

we have the E and the D.

And of course, for the D seven, we have

E and D as well.

And also an F#.

So the A minor, I don't like this one,

for this exercise, I think this minor 13 sound

is not so useful.

So I'm not really including that one.

And just staying with these two.

And then on the D seven, we can have the F sharp.

And then we get D minor.

So first that's E, D, and F,

and of course, the same for the G7.

E, D, and F.

And then, for the remaining chords,

we already covered, except for the Db7.

But that's the same as for the Eb7,

so we have the Eb,

the Db, and the F.

So now we have two or three versions

of each of the chords that we started with,

and we can put those to use on the chord progression.

And that sounds something like this.

(plays jazz comp on "Lady Bird")

There are, of course, several ways you can start

working with this material.

You can start working on Lady Bird, and use

the material that I went over in this lesson.

And you can also just take another song that

you already know, and that you can already play

with your other voicing sets, and then try and

use the same process to convert them to rootless voicings,

and start working out some different options,

and see how that works, because you already know that song.

Another thing you can do is also to take some of the

exercises from the original video.

So one of them was to play these, drop two voicings

through a scale, so if you do it in C, so C,

Dm7, Em7, Fmaj7,

G7, Am7, B half diminished,

and Cmaj7.

And then make a rootless version of that, so you get

(plays jazz chords)

and then start working on those also.

So there are many ways you can just start to experiment

with this.

You definitely wanna also start working on just

making your own sort of small riffs and

comping rhythms.

So if you know how to play this, then,

and convert it into the rootless version,

then it's okay to just sit around and vamp a little bit on

(plays riffs)

Or maybe also combine it with the lower version, so

(plays riffs)

And in that way, try to make music with it,

already when you've just figured out

what the different variations are.

If you wanna learn more about jazz guitar,

and this is the first time you've seen one of my videos,

then subscribe to my channel.

I publish a new video every Monday and Thursday,

and I've been doing this for quite some time,

so there's already really a lot of material on my channel.

WATERFALL PHOTOGRAPHY | October - Sunrise and Calendar shoot. - Duration: 12:26.

apologies for low light as you can see it's a bit of a different waterfall shoot this

month for my October waterfall shoot I wanted a waterfall capture that

could show off the colours of the season something nice and autumnal. I

originally planned to head up to the late district but because autumns been a

bit random this year and some places it's sort of already been in gone I

didn't really want to risk a four hour drive just to discover that autumn

had already gone from the location I had selected. The first location to come to

somewhere I've vlogged in before I'll pop the link above

it's a beautiful woodland it's got lots of different types of trees in it

especially pine trees and there's a nice little stream that runs through the

woodland with lots of mini waterfalls I've come out early in the hope of

catching some nice early morning mist around the woodland and it will be

absolutely perfect if I could capture waterfall flowing through the woodland

surrounded in the the mystical mists of October but looking around me at the

minute I don't think that's going to happen it's looking very clear but it's

early yet you never know conditions might change looking out the window now

it appears there might be a small chance of a decent sunrise I might go and find

myself a position to capture the sunrise and head down to the woodland to

see if we can get some early morning mist right with my babbling get some

pictures

[MUSIC]

literally a few minutes ago the sky just over there when absolutely bright red.

But it was only just a tiny section I was hopeful it was going to light up a little more

little bit more but sadly it didn't

[MUSIC]

I'm a little disappointed that the mist didn't materialise around the The

Woodlands this morning but that said have come away with a

image that I wouldn't have got otherwise I don't think it's

a portfolio her image but I think it's semi decent and I wouldn't have got that

image if I hadn't have come looking for the mist anyway. With the small matter

of the sunrise out of the way it's now time to go waterfall photography hunting

[MUSIC]

I found the first waterfall or it's actually more of a cascade that I was

hoping to capture just looking over this area here this was the first area

hopeful of a decent composition but looking at the trees most of the most of

the leaves of come down now and I'm not really seeing any particular strong

colours I'm going to be able to pull from a composition down there so what what

I'm going to do I'm not gonna put in the effort getting down there I've shot that

particular area many times before and it I can tell by just standing up here it's

not what I want today so I'm going to move on and see what else I can find.

[MUSIC]

After a fair amount of scrambling through the woods I've arrived at location I was

looking for and if I'm honest I'm not over enthusiastic at the minute but I'm

going to set my camera off anyway before I do that I'll give you a quick tour of

the area I mean we've got a nice little cascade here lots of Autumn leaves

sitting on the rocks and got a tree above with the leaves changing colour

...further down here, as you can see the stream continues to

cascade to this fall that's just here.

I think you will agree that it's something that will probably suit a bit more for my calendar

but once again I've got the issue that the trees have already been stripped of

leaves but I got think I'm going to photograph that anyway I'm going see what it comes

out like then decide in post whether it's going to be good enough for the

calendar. So what I'm going to do is get out of this smelly mud I'm going to set

up the first composition and I will get back to you in a second.

After a bit of messing about I've actually found a composition I'm happy with now just

talk you through this one I've got the camera low down just got a

polarizer on at the minute but I'm gonna pop some nd filters on in a second and

these are new ND filters so I'm gonna be interested to see how they perform I've

got some leaf litter and the the pool of the the waterfall in the foreground here

we've got the got the waterfall is the main feature in between the two thirds

then behind we've got the beautiful woodland with all the all the colours

which is being nicely lit up by the Sun coming through the top there

looking around the area because most of the trees are stripped and as I've noted

already I think this is probably the best composition I'm gonna get out of

this location today so I'm gonna make the most of it now I'm gonna start off

taking this one with just a polarizer I'm going to them up it through two or

three stop then sort of work my way up to a 10 stop and let's see which works

best

[MUSIC]

I've moved now, I was over there where my bag is over there a few minutes ago

going to finish to a tiptoe across a stream like a Sugar Plum Fairy :)

To give you an idea on the composition here bit of water just trickling out coming towards

a camera there I thought that'd look quite nice I put the rock on the

right-hand side it was a nice little point on it so it doesn't because it's

not straight it doesn't sort of block the eye going into the image sort of

frames it in a in a way obviously what the pool coming down there just in the

top of the frames a little bit of green leafage on the tree let's just creep

into the corner of the frame and I think it has a nice little bit of contrast to

the image. So we've got a three-stop on this one we've got the

polarizer just to take the glare off the water I'm on F/8 and I've just ran this

for 15 seconds so I'll see what this one comes out like... yeah that's perfect

[MUSIC]

Just walking up the path from the other fall I've come to this bit here I love

in this multi-layered cascade surrounded by the the Autumn colours so I think I'm

gonna give this one a go it's not technically a waterfall but I think if

you get the angle right it will fit well on the calendar.

So after another scramble down the embankment I'm set up for another composition.

I've switched to my 50mm after having problems trying to get a decent composition with the the 12mm

So I've step back a bit so I can get it all in the frame. I've got still

got the GOBE three stop on the front HOYA polarizer and I'm using step-up

adapters towards out the circular filters to my 50mm lens on this

this particular 50mm lens if you've seen my first impressions video

of this you'll be aware that it's quite a contrasty and quite punchy with

colors that should really bring up the autumn colors here I'm using this rock

here and the leaves that go at the side of it it's a bit of a lead in line up to

the fall there well I'll say it's a fall it's more of a cascade then you've got

all the nice little colors going up on the Cascade there gives us a shot I am

at f/8 on this one I'm gonna give this 8 seconds it's quite dark down here

and we'll see what that one comes out like

looking at the back of the camera on quite pleased with that one but I'm not

100% happy with the orientation - I don't really think it

suits portrait well obviously with the calendar I've decided to switch all

the images to portrait orientation I'm going to give this a shot on

landscape anyway see what it comes out it might be a better image anyway

obviously I won't be able to use it on the calendar but I'm just going to be interested in what

the result looks like on the landscape view.

[MUSIC]

That's me done at this location as always if there is an image I've picked up

today which I feel is good enough for my October entry on the calendar it

will be shown at the end of the video if it's not good enough chances are I'm

gonna be out again within the next few days because there's only about a week

of October left anyway. Needless to say it's been a very enjoyable morning

despite getting out of bed around 5:00 a.m. and catching the sunrise

it's it's just past dinner time now so it's unsurprising the battery in this

particular camera is about to give up the ghost

Thanks for watching... Tim :)

Chelsea Handler: Therapy Sessions | Harper's BAZAAR - Duration: 3:26.

Hi I'm Chelsea Handler and we're talking about friendship.

This is therapy sessions.

Yeah, that's right.

Hi I'm Chelsea.

What's your name?

My name is Lily.

Hi.

I want to learn how to make a best friend.

Okay, do you have any friends that you're considering for the part?

Yeah.

Okay so I met my best friend Mary on my TV show.

She was on my TV show and she came on and she was making fun of her children.

She has three little girls and she was calling, you know making fun of them and she was saying

that they were trouble and that they were a pain in the butt and I was like, that's

a mother I could be friends with.

And then I asked her, I said do you want to be friends?

And she's like yeah I'd like to be friends with you.

And we have nothing in common in terms of our personal lives.

She's got a family and a husband and I'm single and I have dogs.

She doesn't like dogs.

I don't like kids.

I mean present company excluded.

I don't really know you but I mean I assume you're fine.

Or not, I don't know.

And it's always good to have fun too and be really really silly.

Yeah.

You don't drink right?

Okay well you should start.

Thank you so much Chelsea.

You're welcome.

We gotta get into the meat of this thing.

Okay.

So I love my job, I have a great team and one of the great people on that team is one

of my good friends but I'm wondering the best way to navigate our friendship in the workplace

so that we don't take anything personal or bring our work outside of the office building.

I work with a ton of women in my office and particularly I work with my cousin and we're

really close and enmeshed in each others lives and we work together, so there's definitely

friction sometimes you know, whether it's personal or you know, we spend a lot of time

together.

So before you react ever, I always try to now, after having a lot of therapy, I just

try and sit still and just go, okay, was that me?

Am I being sensitive?

Am I being emotional?

Am I really upset about something?

And then you take them aside and you have to be really calm.

And what do you and your cousin talk about outside of work?

Cause so many of our conversations revolve around what we do for the majority of our day.

No, I don't like to talk about work when you're not at work.

You gotta get outside the building, you know, and get yourself together.

And then come in and you know, set an example.

And that's why I'm hungover every day.

Thank you.

Thanks Chelsea.

You're the best.

You're the best.

Same time next week?

Yeah.

Alright, cool.

Bye.

Bring a drink next time.

Of course!

What is this?

I have this friend that I've known and she voted for Donald Trump.

I don't know what to do.

Every conversation turns into a political argument.

I don't know how to get her to see my side of things.

Does she try to get you to see her side of things?

Yeah and I think it's a bunch of crap.

Well I don't know, I mean if you really disagree with her values and morals, then you don't

have that much in common because I think that is the basis of any friendship.

Do you value this?

Do you value honesty?

Do you value integrity?

You know, what are the things that are important to her and what are the things that are important

to you?

And if they don't really align, then maybe you just take a break from the relationship.

You don't have to necessarily break up but you can just take a break.

You know like Ross and Rachel.

Like a long break.

I mean hopefully he'll be gone soon so it won't have to be that long.

And then you'll love to be around her, so you can be like hahaha.

Thank you so much.

Thank you!

High five on that, sister.

I was deceived by my husband! [Hello Counselor / SUB : ENG,THAI / 2017.10.30] - Duration: 24:03.

"A wife who is still legally single."

What an intriguing title.

You've registered your marriage, right, Seulgi?

- Of course. / - You must do it immediately.

He could take it back.

We did it the day before our wedding.

Hello.

I'm a woman who is 8 months pregnant.

I met a nice, sweet guy 2 years ago

and got married.

But I think I was deceived by my husband.

He's been a heavy smoker since we dated.

Honey! Quit smoking if you want to marry me.

Or I won't marry you!"

"Sure. I can always quit smoking."

But he didn't quit after I accepted his proposal.

That's how it goes.

Honey! We're getting married in 2 days.

If you don't quit, I won't walk down the aisle."

That's strong.

I'll quit after the wedding.

Please trust me this once."

After we got married...

"I'll quit when you get pregnant. I mean it."

I'm 8 months pregnant now.

Once the baby comes out...

Once the baby is born,

I will quit for sure. Trust me."

How frustrating.

The problem is that he hasn't

kept his promise to quit smoking,

so we haven't registered our marriage yet.

I really want to do so.

Please let this vicious cycle end.

Promising to quit smoking.

I'm curious to see what Jiho has to say.

How do you feel? You have a daughter.

It's not that.

I really don't know what to say.

Do you still smoke?

Yes, I do.

- You're smoking a nicotine replacement? / - Yes.

Your wife isn't coming out here today, right?

No.

I told her before we got married.

That you're going to smoke?

I told her, "I will do anything for you.

But please understand me exercising and smoking.

I will try to drink less instead."

Did she okay it?

When we got married,

I asked JYP to sing at the wedding.

Park Jinyoung.

He agreed as long as I quit smoking.

Really?

So I said yes.

After he sang at the wedding,

I haven't seen him that often.

(Wah wah wah wah...)

(Smoking was more important to him)

I've been clean for 5 years now.

It's hard to do it unless you quit all at once.

It's not easy to quit gradually.

I really hate cigarettes.

The #1 requirement for a husband is not smoking.

Fortunately, my husband has never smoked.

That was a big plus for me.

Besides smoking,

what did you look for in a husband?

Since I'm short

I wanted to marry someone over 6 feet.

Is he over 6 feet tall?

No. He's 5'8".

What happened?

I was blinded by love

and he looked over 2 meters tall to me.

He was just like Seo Janghoon to me.

Let's bring the wife out here. Please come out.

(Who is concerned about her smoking husband?)

She's going to walk out instead.

(She's 8 months pregnant!)

She's pregnant.

(Kim Suhui)

Here's a blanket.

Stretch your legs out.

She has a baby in her belly.

The baby might be cold.

Please introduce yourself.

Hello.

I'm still legally single because of my husband.

I'm Kim Suhui from Hongseong.

Hello.

You're here today because of your husband.

How much does he smoke in a day?

I don't know how much he smokes exactly.

Because you're not with him all the time.

But when he comes home from work

he reeks of cigarettes.

- From his head, too. / - That's unpleasant.

Secondary smoking is even worse.

She's more sensitive because she's pregnant.

Was your ideal man before you got married

a non-smoker like Park Seulgi?

Yes. My ideal man was a non-smoker.

I don't care about how much he drinks.

That's how much I hated smokers.

Then how did you meet your husband?

When we met, I asked him, "Can you quit?"

He said he was never asked to quit before,

but that he can quit anytime.

He's so eloquent.

Only words.

That's what he said.

I was never asked to quit before.

I can always quit for the woman I love."

That's called rubbish.

(Low-grade rubbish)

We've had many concerns about smoking before

but he doesn't seem to be that bad.

He hasn't shown his will to quit so far.

He hasn't quit for more than a day.

I thought he'd quit once I got pregnant,

but even now, he isn't willing or trying to quit.

He said he'd quit when I'm close to term, but no.

He is still smoking.

You really haven't registered your marriage?

Yes, I think that's my ultimate weapon.

You're really not going to register it?

But you can't avoid it forever.

I've decided to put the baby under my name.

If he doesn't quit?

I have no choice because he hasn't quit.

Since we didn't register our marriage,

I told him that the baby will be under my name.

Was he shocked?

- He doesn't think much of it. / - What did he say?

- After I said it... / - He doesn't believe it.

He said that he's glad that we're both Kims.

Oh, his last name is also Kim?

(Sigh...)

That's what he said?

Yes, he is glad that we are both Kims.

Let's meet her husband. Hello.

Hello.

We hate you.

- We don't want to say hello. / - We hate you.

- Sir. / - Yes?

Do you understand your wife's concern?

Only halfway.

- Only half? / - Why?

My co-workers who also smoke...

Their wives are understanding.

My brother smokes, too.

My sister-in-law is understanding, too.

But my wife won't permit it.

It's because you made a promise.

Why did you promise to quit then?

You should've been like Oh Jiho and said

you can't quit smoking

but you'll do everything else.

It's because you made a promise.

It's my fault.

I had never tried to quit smoking.

I thought I would be able to quit easily.

Do you regret making that promise?

Yes, a little.

It's like going to event halls.

(It's hard to quit)

- So you've never tried? / - No, I have.

- You have? / - Yes. For a day.

After I got married.

Did you have withdrawal symptoms?

When I quit, after about an hour...

- You got aggravated? / - Yes, that first.

All I could think about was smoking.

How much do you smoke a day?

I smoke two packs a day.

That's a lot.

(That many?)

I've smoked for 15 years now.

How old are you?

I'm 34 years old.

So you started around age 20.

Do you chain smoke, too?

How do you smoke two packs a day?

No. I care about my health.

So I don't chain smoke.

He cares about his health?

(I can't sit still...)

Oh gee.

You promised that you would quit smoking

if she agreed to marry you.

I made so many false promises before that

I'm not even sure if I really made that promise.

(How can you say that?)

So what about before she got pregnant?

Before she got pregnant...

Did you make a promise out of habit?

No. I always think I can quit someday.

I've smoked and drank a lot in the past.

I have nothing say regarding that. I've quit now.

I used to smoke 2-3 packs a day.

What efforts have you made to quit?

- I've tried many things. / - Like what?

I've tried nicotine patches.

Nicotine patches?

I've tried eating candies.

That's not really trying hard.

Eating candy is...

I went to a nearby health clinic to get help

and they gave me all those things.

But they have certain schedules and

I was too busy to go to those appointments.

Maybe you should try electronic cigarettes.

I've tried that, too.

It tasted different from cigarettes.

(Does he really want to quit?)

How can you say that when you're trying to quit?

I'm so frustrated.

Seulgi, taste is very important.

Any kind of taste is very important.

Stop, Yeongja. That's enough.

She talked about taste.

Have you thought about smoking less?

Since I smoked so much, I promised myself

to only smoke when I drink.

So that's how I gradually decreased the amount.

But I did end up drinking during the day.

I had to keep my promise.

But I was able to smoke less.

I've tried to smoke less, too.

I decided to smoke an hour apart or

only smoke after each meal.

But since it's been a habit for years,

I just ended up going back to the way I was.

(It's been a habit for years)

Do you think that your wife is acting

too odd about this issue?

Yes.

Maybe she's a little too sensitive.

She nags at me for an hour

when she smells smoke on me.

The whole time for an hour?

Yes. So I tell her to just hit me

instead of nag at me.

You'd rather be beaten?

Yes. Other people would not have

endured being nagged at for an hour.

When he got caught smoking before,

he used to apologize.

- But he's brazen now. / - What does he say?

He says, "It's not that I want to smoke.

I smoke because my body asks for it."

He seems like the pregnant one.

That's what wives say.

Since I do service work,

I get stressed out often.

I tend to relieve stress by smoking.

But she isn't so understanding of that

and I smoke more because of that stress.

What does your wife say when she nags at you?

I honestly listen to it in the beginning only

and tune it out later. I can't bear to listen.

He must've done it quite often.

He's quite skilled now.

She makes me feel so guilty.

- What does she say? / - Do you remember any of it?

This is something that I don't understand.

She says my lungs reek of smoke.

Your lungs reek of smoke?

I can't clean my lungs.

He says he can't clean his lungs.

You can't shower your lungs, right?

Right.

The smell comes from his lungs.

Whenever he breathes.

I wake up in the middle of the night from it.

I'm particularly sensitive.

She won't register your marriage. What's your plan?

I always thought she would do it someday.

She thinks that you will quit smoking someday.

She's waiting for you. She's trying harder.

(He doesn't realize the gravity of the issue)

You don't think you did anything wrong?

If your wife has come here,

she seems to be serious about her decision.

What are you planning to do?

I plan to quit before the baby is born.

- We've heard that before. / - There's no time.

Before the baby is born.

Is this rubbish line #2?

I plan to quit someday.

I asked people around me and

they said the only way is to quit cold turkey.

That's right. You must quit all at once.

I am going to try.

When?

Before the baby is born.

I shouldn't have stayed for the last story.

(A guest leaves in the middle of the shoot?)

You feel quite uneasy right now.

I can understand how he feels,

but there's nothing I can really tell him.

He thinks he can quit someday and

he also thinks you'll register the marriage someday.

- I won't. / - Never?

Not unless he quits smoking.

That's the only thing I ask of him.

I am understanding with other things.

He likes to go fishing.

I let him go.

Jihan, why are you surprised?

One of the hobbies that girlfriends or wives

cannot understand is fishing.

- You're shocked that she understands? / - Yes.

We've gotten many concerns regarding fishing.

I'm understanding when he goes out to drink.

You are?

But they all have something to do with smoking.

I only asked him to quit smoking.

She's very generous.

She only asks you to quit smoking.

She says she's understanding about other things,

but I've only gone fishing once this year.

It's October.

- Just once? / - Yes.

I only went out to drink twice or so.

But you still went.

It's hard to accept that she's understanding.

You couldn't go fishing because of her?

It's because you were busy, right?

Yes, I didn't have the time.

She didn't stop you from going.

You don't care if he goes fishing every weekend?

(Well...)

Drinking twice a month?

That's fine.

She says she's understanding about drinking.

That's because she likes to drink herself.

- She quit because she's pregnant? / - Yes.

She went out to drink so often before then.

That's why she said she's understanding.

She used to come home drunk every day.

Really?

She can't even drink a bottle of soju.

She can't drink that much.

But once she gets drunk, she drinks more.

Drinking leads to more drinking.

Oh my.

So everyone knows her drinking habits.

She runs around.

That's not that bad except

she gets drunk and falls down often.

- Some people do that. / - Yes.

My friend runs home when he gets drunk.

He wakes up super tired the next day.

(That sounds familiar...)

Do you remember running around?

Yes.

You are tired the next day, right?

It's because I feel so happy.

- What else is there? / - Well...

He's excited.

He's mischievous.

He's excited right now.

It took her an hour to get to work

by train every day.

She used to go to work by train.

Since she fell asleep drunk on the train,

she would always miss her stop.

Then I have to drive along with the train.

He drove after the train.

Wait. Shouldn't you two switch seats?

She can't drink now because she's pregnant.

He said that I drank quite often, but

I don't. That was only around the end of the year.

I admit that I can't control how much I drink.

I haven't drunk because I'm pregnant.

I don't think I'll drink from now on.

I realize that it was hard for him.

She realizes your hardship.

I am understanding about

her drinking.

So you want her to allow you to smoke?

What can she do to help you succeed in quitting?

I want her to wait for me instead of yelling at me.

She's been waiting this whole time.

I want her to wait without nagging at me.

Without nagging.

You've broken your promise so many times already.

(How can she not say anything?)

My wife said that I have to quit for

at least 6 months for her to accept it.

6 months is too long for me.

Once you quit, you shouldn't smoke again.

You're not supposed to smoke again.

If she could reduce it to a month...

Do you not know the meaning of quitting?

You're going to smoke again after a month?

I will try, but 6 months seems too long.

The hardest part is 3 days after he begins.

Your wife quit drinking after she got pregnant.

How would you feel if she still drank

and slept on the street?

That's unimaginable.

Right? She made a sacrifice.

Right.

I think it's time for you to make the sacrifice.

She had no choice but to quit drinking

because she got pregnant.

Then imagine that you're pregnant, too.

Your stomach is big enough to think that.

(You look just as pregnant)

No one can force anyone to quit smoking.

It's a preference.

But you made a promise.

That's what's wrong.

You could smoke if you had never made a promise.

She married you thinking that you'd quit.

That's why you're responsible.

I hope I'm not out of line when I say this.

My father loved smoking

and he passed away at a young age.

His absence gave our family so much pain

and it was tough after he left.

I'm jealous of people who have their fathers.

Once you quit smoking, it's not only good for her,

but for you, too. You'll be healthier.

I hope you know this.

The woman you love the most

hates the smell of cigarettes the most.

She can't stand the smell. It's tough for her.

Then I promise to quit before the baby comes out.

What will you do if you don't keep that promise?

I will keep my promise.

You failed so many times before.

It's hard for us to believe you.

You've lied so many times up until now.

I would rather hear you be honest and

say you can't keep that promise.

Don't try to escape this moment

by making a false promise like you've done.

You're not just promising your wife,

but with all the viewers of this program.

Every Korean is a witness.

What would the elders say when they see you smoke?

"That awful scoundrel."

"What's wrong with him?"

Don't make the promise.

You don't think you can keep it, right?

But my wife hates it so much,

so I will try my best to quit.

I will do my best to quit

before the baby is born.

What if you fail?

Then I would be a rotten scoundrel.

But I'm not obligated to do anything even if I fail.

I will keep my word.

(He's right, but something doesn't seem right...)

- It's noncommittal. / - I can't trust him.

What if you're rewarded for keeping your word?

Once you quit smoking, you have withdrawal symptoms

and end up eating lots of snacks.

If he needs more money, I will give him more.

- She'll raise your allowance. / - More allowance.

I get $300 a month for an allowance.

I'm sure I'll get $400 a month at best.

That won't greatly improve my life.

He has no will to quit.

You want more? How much do you want?

No, I don't need anything like that.

I just want her to have faith in me.

I've lied so many times that she doesn't believe me.

Right. She's lost faith in you.

May we go see you when the baby is born?

The baby will be born in 2 months and

I have to quit for at least 6 months for her.

Who cares? Just quit.

Why do you care so much about that 6 months?

Just tell us now.

If you can't quit, say you'll smoke less at least.

Promise that you'll gradually quit.

But I've heard from those who've quit that...

You say too many buts!

- So many buts. / - He doesn't want to quit.

You've heard it from those who quit, right?

- He quit and I quit, too. / - I quit, too.

Once you quit, you'll be healthier.

Your life will change. It'll be great.

You must quit cold turkey. Don't do it gradually.

What would you like to say

to your husband?

I was rough on him

and that must've caused him stress.

I should've had more faith in him.

Yes. Don't let him think that you're nagging.

If he tries hard, cheer for him and encourage him.

Let's start with Oh Jiho.

I think it's a concern.

I hope you quit before the baby is born

and let the baby only smell good things.

You smoke, too, but you think it's a concern.

Seol Ina.

I'd say it's a concern for the family.

Okay. Seulgi.

It's definitely a concern.

Smoking is not negotiable.

I think it's a concern, too.

I understand how hard it is to quit,

but your wife and child are most important.

- Please protect them. / - You can do it!

Keeping your promise is the most important thing.

Right.

If you think it's a concern, press the button.

The beeps won't stop.

Time's up.

Please stop.

One last word for your wife, please.

Honey.

I've always lied about quitting.

Since I'm here today, I'll do my best

and quit before the baby is born.

I love you.

Ma'am!

Are event halls fun or is it more fun here?

- It's fun here, too. / - Is it?

Should he quit smoking or not?

- He should. / - He should, right?

Please hand her the mic.

Please say a word for the husband.

I hate the smell of cigarettes.

It'd be great for him to quit.

For the baby, too.

Will you quit going to event halls or not?

I will.

(Good choice!)

How many votes did they get?

Please show us the result.

I'm really curious.

The last digit.

6! If it's 146...

Then they're #1.

146?

(They got 156 votes)

(Oh my)

Reading Wrap Up | October 2017 - Duration: 10:04.

Hi everyone it's Lauren and this is my October reading wrap-up video, so all of

the book reviews for the books that I read last month. I didn't get a whole ton

of reading done in October just because I had so much stuff going on like every

weekend in my personal life but I did manage to read five books which isn't

loads for me. I think that's a lot for some people, I always feel weird on

booktube when people go 'oh I haven't read that much I only read ten!' or

something, but it's ok, it's quite an interesting mix of books that I've got

here. So let's dive straight in the first one that I finished was Elmet by Fiona

Mozley, now the reason that I read this is that it was shortlisted for the Man

Booker Prize this year and also I'd heard a lot of hype and interest about

it from friends and from people whose opinions I trusted and to be

honest the plot or the story probably wouldn't have attracted me to

this book on its own if I hadn't had all of those other opinions, So this is

from the perspective of a young boy called Daniel who lives in Yorkshire

with his Daddy and his older sister Cathy and they live in a house that they

have built in some seemingly abandoned or unused woodland and they are

essentially trying to escape from society but the broader story is about

the battle between the kind of lower working-class community around there

against the privileged upper-class landlords but it is more of a tale of

that working-class underworld and the world of illegal fights and gambling and

using kind of enforcers and hard men to get the job done for you, so it's it's

quite interesting. It's not at all I expected, especially from like the cover

I thought it was going to be a little bit more mystical than that! What I did

really enjoy about this book is the prose because Fiona Mozley's writing

really makes you slow down I am one of those people who is a hundred percent

guilty of sometimes skimming through books or just reading so quickly just

because I want to know what's happening in the story, and her writing style

really makes you pause and slow down and take in what she's trying to say so I

found that very interesting. But downsides for me probably was the pacing

like at the end I felt like the plot and everything that was happening just

almost exploded far too quickly in my opinion and almost to the realms of

unreality, although I kind of see what she's doing with it I'm not sure how

successful it was. I can't be more specific than that obviously because

I'll give away the plot but this is her first book

this is a debut novel and all of that considered I think this is

really interesting and exciting new talent, so I'm really pleased that I read

it even though it wasn't my favorite book ever I'm pleased to have picked it

up and have been introduced to her writing. Next a little book that I wanted

to just briefly mention and that is Little Black Book by Otegha Uwagba and this

is a toolkit for working women it says on the front and I absolutely raced

through this. This isn't the kind of book that you're going to read in one sitting

really, I realized once I started reading it, and it's very much more just tips and

there's chapters here on building your brand or networking, overcoming creative

blocks, public speaking and there's tips from Otegha herself and then also quotes

from other kind of successful creative people and although I don't work in a

kind of creative freelance industry myself I obviously do do the YouTube

stuff on the side so this was quite interesting for me and I think it's the

kind of book that, yeah although it's not one big long continuous read there is so

much in here that I think I'm going to be flicking through it and going back to

it when I want to have a bit of a kick up the bum career-wise perhaps, which to be

honest I think we all need! I don't think anyone is ever going 'I know exactly what

I'm doing and I know exactly what path I need to take to get there' so if you're

ever thinking that you need bit of oomph in your career or you're

wondering how to do something properly I think this is probably a really good

resource. I then read The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin which is a

collection of essays, well two essays really and these were sent to me by

Penguin to celebrate Black History Month which in the UK is in October. So these two

essays - the first one is a letter from James Baldwin to his nephew and the

other one is a much longer form essay about the nature of religion and

identity within kind of the african-american community and I really

really enjoyed these. I've not read any Baldwin before and I think although I'm

obviously a novice to his writing I do feel like this was quite a good

introduction for me I found it really easy to get on board with all of the

things he was talking about. I especially really enjoyed the second essay where

really looks at like it kind of combines his own autobiographical

experiences of his father being a preacher and him going into preaching

himself when he was a teenager and then a wider

examination of religion and what is and who is it for

and how black people especially african-american people who are

descendants of slaves in the u.s. how they see themselves within the Bible and

whether Christianity is for them or whether Islam is for them and it kind of

looks all of these different views on this subject and I'm making it

sound very academic and very wide-ranging but it's also very

accessible so I was really impressed with this a really nice first dip into

James Baldwin's writing and yeah look forward to reading a bit more of him.

Then a bit of a depart from my normal reading, I read some historical fiction

which I don't normally do but this book was a pick for my book club that I have

with my friends and my friend Mary really loves historical fiction so she

recommended it and that is An Innocent Traitor by Alison Weir. This book is

about Lady Jane Grey, so if you don't know Lady Jane Grey was Queen of England

for a total of nine days in between the reigns of Edward VI and Mary Tudor.

This book follows Jane's entire life from her birth and her upbringing up

until the point where she is made Queen and eventually executed and it it's not

the best written book I don't think I would recommend it on its literary

merits. Each chapter is from a different person's perspective and it's

almost like they're writing in a diary, it's not fantastic writing in and of

itself, but Alison Weir is a historian and what is so interesting and what I

think this book is more about for her is the taking a look at things that

actually did happen and so much of this book is is based in fact, a

surprisingly small amount I think has been made up by Alison Weird, and it's

more about her trying to work out these different characters' motivations and see

into their psyches a little bit. We begin at the end of the reign of Henry VIII

and his final wife Catherine Parr we go through all of Edward VI's reign

and it's so interesting because when you look back at history the way things

unfolded just seems inevitable and it's really interesting going back to that

time and realising that it wasn't clear at all who was going to reign after

Edward VI and no one knew that he was going to die young and

it's very Game of Thrones in terms of its intrigue and the political

maneuverings of everybody around there and just how important it was whether

someone was Protestant or whether they were Catholic and that's really kind of

life life-threatening which side of that you're on. I really enjoyed learning

about the time period and I would recommend it if you're interested in the

Tudors or learning about English history if you're not from the UK and I read it

very very quickly it was very easy to read but don't read it if you want some

kind of like really poetic metaphors or something that's not really in there. And

finally for October I read The Good People by Hannah Kent. So Hannah Kent is

the author of Burial Rites which I think was her first book and that came out a

few years ago and had so much hype when it came out. I haven't read Burial Rites

but when this came out I thought, well I've got to get on that Hannah Kent

bandwagon! Burial Rites is about the last woman to be executed in Iceland and

Hannah Kent has taken at that real-life situation as inspiration for her book

and this is very, very similar. This takes inspiration from a case where a wise

woman was trying to cure a young boy who they described as a changeling in

Ireland in the 19th century I believe and so she has kind of taken that and

then worked this history around that real-life case. So within this story we

have Nora whose daughter has died she's been left with her grandson who is

described as a cripple and then her husband dies that she's left alone to

care for this young boy, and there was also Nance, the local wise woman who

is said to talk to the fairies, the Good People, people go to her for cures and

it's about her trying to work out what's going on with her grandson trying to get

Nance to cure him but that's really.. although that's the plot that almost

doesn't seem to be the point of this book and what's quite interesting is

it's very much an ensemble piece it's about everybody in that village and

I would say this book what it is really doing is looking at the concept of mob

mentality and mass hysteria and like a blame culture really, especially when

steeped in so much superstition and kind of the superstition and belief in

fairies and the good people and combined with belief in religion and God and the

devil is just so so much a part of these characters lives

you cannot escape it, it's every hour of every day everything that they do is is

ritualized and although you're looking in at this society from the outside and

from a modern perspective it's really interesting how quickly you realize that

it's not that big a leap of faith for Nora to start believing that her

grandson is a fairy, it's just it's everywhere. These beliefs are part of

who these people are and it doesn't seem that beyond the realms of reality and it

does kind of play with you a little bit because you're sort of thinking is this

real?? like I can't really tell, are we you know in a fantastical society or are

we looking at reality and science and it's it's very interesting. So that's it

for this video, as always I would love to hear from you if you've read any of

these books with you agree with me disagree with me have some other

thoughts and what have you been reading in October? What good

recommendations do you have? What have you been loving? Talk to me, let me

know some things because otherwise it's just like me speaking to my wall and I'm

not having a conversation! I hope you are well and I will see in my next video

bye!

15 Top Cruise Tips From 5 Leading Cruise Bloggers - Duration: 8:53.

My name's Emma and I'm a blogger at CruisingsNotJustForOldPeople.co.uk

My name's Danielle, but I'm best known to my readers as Cruise Miss.

I'm Dave Monk, otherwise known as Ship Monk. My name is Flavia Gray and my

website is

ShipsAndChampagne.com and I'm Gary Bembridge of Tips For Travellers.

So let's go in hear the best cruise tips that we have for you.

I like to pack things like dresses and blouses on the hanger so that when I get

on board all I have to do is open the case,

get all the hangers together, lift them out and put them straight in the wardrobe

with the clothes already attached to them. And ladies let's face it, even if we took

every single hanger out of our wardrobe we would still be looking for more.

When I get on board, one of the things I find really challenging when I'm on a

cruise is keeping the cabin tidy - especially if there's more than two of

you sharing a room. So I found the solution to this is to buy one of these

over the door shoe hanging racks, and they have 24 pockets in them. You can put

practically anything in them from sunglasses, sun cream, medicines. These

are really easy to get on eBay, you can just order them online. And another

little tip is I pre-packed the pockets at home and then I rolled it up

and put it in the suitcase. So when I arrived in the ship all I had to do is

unroll it and hang it up. So one thing that I recommend, and I always do,

is take my own tooth repair kit. So while ships have medical centers on

board, they do not have dentists on board. So if you have a problem with your tooth,

you know filling falls out or a tooth cracks or something, if you have one of

those little tooth repair kits - you can buy them from a drugstore or from a

pharmacy - they're great for patching up little problems, solving problems. It can

either tide you over until you get to the next port where there is an emergency

dentist that you can try and see, or it can often just tide you over until you

get back home and see your own dentist. If, like me, you travel with lots of

different pieces of technology: a laptop, mobile phone, camera, iPod and got hair dryers,

straighteners, things like that. It really does make sense to a pack a small extension

cable. I've been on cruise ships where they've had USB outlets in the cabin,

they've had English sockets, they've had European sockets - it's been marvellous as you

can plug everything in and don't need to worry about it.

However, I've also been on ships that have got one lonely plug socket and if

you're traveling with a friend who also has 10,000 different bits of equipment

it can become very tricky. It really does pay. Even if it's just an extra two

outlets, it's real gonna be worth it. I'm going to be

cruising on Independence of the Seas and if you're going on a ship like that,

there's a few things you're going to need to remember to take. For the

rock wall they require you to wear a pair of trainers. If you or your family are

looking to use the ice rink, then you need to make sure you pack a pair of

long trousers and a pair of socks. For those of you looking to use the

FlowRider, ladies please pack a swimsuit because a bikini will not stay on with

the force of the water. Also guys, have a pair of swim shorts with the drawstring,

do it up really tightly and you'll be sure not to lose them. If you like doing the

behind-the-scenes tour then going into the galley or visiting the bridge you

are required to wear a pair of shoes with closed toes.

No matter what cabin you've booked if you book an inside or balcony book a

guaranteed version of that cabin, and it will be cheaper than a cabin where

you've picked the specific cabin because you you sort of end up with the leftover

cabins. But if you don't mind being at the back of the ship or lower down, which

I don't at all as price is the main thing for me, I don't care where I am. A

guaranteed cabin can be assigned at any point up to your cruise. It could be a

week before, it could be a month before, it could be a day before, you will at

least get the category that you've paid for - and you could get an upgrade, which

would be fantastic! But worst case scenario you get what you paid for. So

that's not too bad a risk. Make sure you know what your cruise is

really going to cost you, and budget appropriately. Cruise Lines largely price

fares to get people on the ship, and once you're on the ship they want you to

spend as much money as possible. The things to really watch out for are

gratuities, secondly excursions. Wi-Fi is also very expensive, and also very

importantly is drinks. Most cruise lines do not include drinks. They can

mount up pretty significantly. The fifth thing that you should really watch out

for is specialty dining. More and more cruise ships have alternative dining

venues which they charge for above and beyond the buffet or room

service or main dining room. Don't assume that drinks packages are cheaper

than buying drinks as you go. Before you get a drinks package, work out how many

drinks you're likely to have a day - and see how much that's going to cost you

compared to the drinks package. Because sometimes it can be like you have to

have eight drinks a day to save money with the drinks package.

I just couldn't do! If you've got a port intensive cruise, it might not be as

worthwhile having a drink package as you're probably not going to drink as many

cocktails. So just have a look before you cruise. Always have travel insurance.

In recent years a lot of travel insurance providers have been catering

towards cruise passengers, and there are cruise specific policies available.

These can often include things like emergency formal wear, missed ports,

airline issues and cancelled shore excursions. If you need to see the onboard doctor, for

whatever reason, it can run incredibly expensive. It can cost anywhere between

£50 and £100 just for the consultation, before you even have any

tests and before you have any medications prescribed. It really does pay

to have a good policy, and it definitely pays to have a cruise specific policy.

Consider an inside cabin. Not just because they're cheapest, but you get the

best night's sleep in the entire world. It's so dark. You save quite a lot of

money by booking an inside cabin. It can sometimes be hundreds and I would prefer

to spend that on a beverage package or an excursion than a window or balcony

So at least consider an inside cabin.

Use your phone. Not always in the way that you normally would because the cost

of calls and Wi-Fi can be expensive. First, take a picture of your room

number. It can be very easy to forget where you are,

and it's not always on your card. Secondly when you get off the ship to go

on a shore excursion, take a picture of the back on board time because the one

thing you don't want to do is miss the boat! Don't always trust the time on your

phone because if you're on a ship you might go through a time zone and the ship

doesn't change its time but your phone does. So always make sure you're on ship time.

Thirdly, remember as well with phones to keep them away from your key card. This is

because the magnetic strip at the back can become de magnetised. There's nothing

worse than walking back to your room at one end of a big ship trying the key

card and it doesn't work. Keep your card in one place and your phone in another.

So one of the things that I like to do, also because I like to self explore more,

is use the hop-on hop-off buses in ports and cities where the cruise calls. Because

someone has worked out, and curated, the best places to go. They will have a route

which covers those most efficiently. They'll have a map showing you

where they are and also they will have commentary, so you'll get an

overview of the city, their history, what it's about and you'll get taken to all the

must-see places. A stop will normally be at or near where the ship calls at,

and if there isn't a regular stop there: they will often add in a specific stop

for when ships are in port. It's a good idea to book some things before the cruise like

shore excursions, spa treatments and restaurants. But don't go too mad -

remember a cruise is a holiday not a marathon! Leave yourself some free time.

It's a good idea as well to make a schedule before you go. That sounds a bit

organised, but at least you'll know where you're eating, what you're doing, where

you're going, what time the shore excursions are. Of course you'll get

reminders and the tickets on the ship, but it's always good to know

"what amI doing today?". Don't forget to leave

an outfit out the night before disembarkation. As you know you have to

leave your cases outside of your cabin the night before you leave the ship. And

nobody wants to see a naked passenger running down the gangway! Follow and

Short film Nathan Goshen – Home / Chef Martin in New York - Duration: 1:40.

People call me "Chef", and I don't like it.

"Yes Chef", "Yes Chef", and I say, don't call me Chef.

My name is Martin, and I cook for some people.

Famous people, not famous people, it's all the same.

We are all people, right?

I am from Argentina.

I started cooking in Argentina, and a few of my friends,

who were cooking as well, they moved to New York City,

and I said, "Okay, I'm gonna get the money for a ticket",

and I went.

My panic was that, I didn't speak English

I remember, I used to walk the street, My panic was that, I didn't speak English

I remember, I used to walk the street,

I didn't want anyone to ask me the time.

"Hey, what time is it?", it was scary for me.

But not in the kitchen.

Things that happen in our lives, end up making us who we are.

Maybe I found home, in the kitchen.

That's New York City, my home.

10 Most BEAUTIFUL Places UNTOUCHED By Humankind - Duration: 9:00.

The world is a magnificent place and it never fails to marvel us.

From the tallest mountain to the deepest trenches, we have often stared in awe and wonderment

at how Mother Nature is able to create such beautiful landscapes that seem to come right

off the pages of a high fantasy novel.

However, despite all the awe and wonderment, mankind – as our species progressed throughout

the millennia – have indiscriminately trampled on plenty of nature's works of art.

We have re-sculpted mountains and uprooted trees in order to pave freeways and erect

apartment complexes and gigantic malls all in the name of industry.

It's quite tragic that Mother Nature has to take big hits and blows from what we have

done but she does have a way of keeping the best things away from man's indiscriminate

and destructive behaviour.

There simply are places that – thanks to their geography and climate conditions – have

kept mankind at bay and are well preserved in their marvellous states.

Which is why, in today's video, we are counting down to 10 of the world's most beautiful

places that are untouched by human hands!

We hope that you enjoy what you see and be reminded that we don't always have to uproot

trees and pour concrete on natural landscapes to make a place attractive.

10.

ATACAMA DESERT Known as, perhaps, the world's driest location,

the Atacama Desert does not get any rain at all rendering its soil unable to support plant

life; not to mention the fact that much of its expanse is made out of sand, lava, and

salt basins.

To say that the land is parched is an extreme understatement.

However, despite its arid landscape and the land's lack of ability to create or support

life, the Atacama Desert has become one of NASA's best locations to conduct their research

such as ground tests for Mars missions.

Also, the desert is also one of the best places to conduct astronomical study due to its extremely

high altitude, dry air, lack of light pollution and radio interference, and its virtually

cloudless skies.

Though there may be two major observatories in the desert which makes calling the place

completely untouched by human hands a little ironic, the fact that cities surrounding it

are spaced wide apart and that there are no other industrial or residential structures

within its bounds earns it a place on this list.

Also, its 40,000 square miles of dry land is already saying something.

9.

NAMIBIA Getting its name from the Namib Desert, Namibia

is one of the few sparsely populated areas in the southern part of Africa.

Because human presence is at an extreme minimum, Namibia is home to largest population of wild

cheetahs that make about a quarter of the entire world's cheetah population – about

2,500 of these speedsters.

Even more impressive about Namibia – aside from its magnificent sand dunes, waterfalls,

and petroglyphs – is the fact that because it is an untouched African landscape, it is

one of the few countries in the world to have perfectly preserved its ecosystem in its entire

constitution.

8.

THE SEYCHELLES Pristine beaches and a healthy population

of wildlife that includes the Seychelles Black Parrot, The Seychelles has at least 50% of

its island nation under conservation which makes it one of the most beautiful places

on earth.

Perhaps it is the only country in the world with half of its land mass under conservation!

And we believe that this is for good reason because the island nation boasts one of the

most magnificent shorelines and beaches that we have ever seen.

Its clear waters and powder soft sands make it the envy of any island country across the

globe.

And with very little tourists and visitors exploring its shores, The Seychelles remain

clean and pristine all-year round.

7.

THE FOREST LAKE Russia's Lake Baikal is the world's oldest

and deepest lake.

It is also recorded as the largest freshwater lake in terms of volume.

To give you an idea, Baikal Lake makes for 20% of the entire world's fresh water surface

which is larger than the combined waters of the Great Lakes of North America.

Also, the lake is home to 2000 different species of plant and animal life, two-thirds of which

are only endemic to the lake's region.

How is it untouched and unexplored?

Lake Baikal's location makes it one of the most difficult – if not impossible – places

to visit.

Found in south-central Siberia, the lake is surrounded by mountains, an extremely dense

forest, and a number of wild rivers.

Perhaps the only way to see the lake itself is to travel by air and because of the thick

forests below, landing a helicopter or a small plane is out of the question.

I guess its inaccessibility is Mother Nature's way of telling us that it's okay to "look

but not touch".

6.

TEPUI, VENEZUELA These large, towering sandstone plateaus are

called the "Home of the Gods" in the language of the indigenous people of Gran Sabana in

Venezuela.

Rather than connected ranges like mountains, Tepuis are commonly isolated land-masses that

tower high above ground.

Tepuis are, in actuality, the remains of large plateaus of sandstone from the Precambrian

period.

Over thousands of years, the land structures eroded leaving only the Tepuis that we now

know of today.

Despite its altitude, wildlife and plant-life prosper high atop the Tepuis – the tallest

of them have been recorded as 3000 meters tall.

Dense forest lands blanket the flat top surface that has a slightly cooler temperature than

the ground below and receives regular rainfall.

It is because of its location, many plants have adapted to its unique climate and have

become rare species that can only be found in the Tepuis.

5.

HONOKOHAU FALLS If you are thinking of visiting these majestic

falls by foot or by car, you're far better off booking a helicopter tour.

Surrounded by lush and thick forests and sloping landscapes, Honokohau Falls can only be seen

from the sky.

It is the tallest two-tiered waterfall in the island of Maui, Hawaii and is one of the

most majestic places in the world that has never been touched by human hands.

Atop the falls is a labyrinthine network of streams that travel down Mount Waialeale and

down the famed falls themselves.

Also, the waters cominf down from Honokohau Falls fill the lower bodies of water that

form the Hawaiian rivers of Waimea, Makaveli, Wailua, and Hanapepe.

As a point of interest, in the movie Jurassic Park, Honokohau Falls makes an appearance

in frame as one of the scenes that establishes the movie's fictional theme park island.

4.

TSINGY DE BEMARAHA Also known as the Stone Forest of Madagascar,

Tsingy de Bemaraha has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1990 and has

since been under strict conservation to protect its landscape and diverse wildlife endemic

to the island.

Translated as "Where One Cannot Walk Barefoot", Tsingy de Bemahara's unique natural structures

of jagged rock protrusions were formed over millions of years as they began as underground

caves.

As monsoon rains wash over the formations' layers of sediment and limestone, the stone

forest began to take shape and have risen up to 70 meters from the ground.

What's even more unique about these formations is the vegetation and lush forests at the

base of the canyon that is home to teeming wildlife.

A stark contrast to the bare, razor looking edges of the top part of the Tsingy.

Though formations of eroded limestones may exist elsewhere on the island, none of them

compare to the extraordinary topography and size of the Tsingy.

3.

BHUTAN When the image of Bhutan comes to mind, many

of us would immediately picture vast mountain ranges blanketed by the clouds, sweeping valleys

below, and lone monasteries atop snow-capped summits.

While this image is not entirely false, a tiny detail that we miss is that Bhutan is

covered in forests.

In fact, about 60% of the land is covered in lush greenery which makes a quarter of

its natural territory protected by law and designated as national parks.

Another interesting fact to note about Bhutan is that, compared to its Himalayan cousin,

Tibet, it is comparatively much cleaner and is practically an unpolluted paradise that

has allowed a biologically diverse ecosystem to take over and preserve the land.

2.

ANTARCTICA While it may be a frozen continent, Antarctica

is also classified as a desert because of its obvious lack of rainfall.

Uninhabited and untouched by human civilization, about 96% of the continent is covered in ice

that is at least 1 mile thick.

Its beauty is in the desolate wastes that prevent human life from surviving overtime

which is why the continent is abundant in wildlife endemic to extremely cold climates

such as seals, penguins, various seabirds, and populations of whales.

Undoubtedly the coldest place on earth, it is very much an essential part of our entire

ecosystem that scientists and researchers risk their lives to visit in order to break

the ice on the mystery that surrounds this frozen realm.

1.

GALAPAGOS ISLAND Despite the fact that hundreds of travellers

have reached its shores after Charles Darwin's legendary voyage, the Galapagos Islands remains

pristine and untouched by human hands.

The archipelago, over countless years since Darwin's visit, still has a diverse and

populous wildlife that has become part of the island's identity; and for over 5 decades,

the Galapagos has become a protected biological marine preserve and its 23,000 local inhabitants

make sure that it remains that way.

Because aside from penguins, sea lions, and whales; there are also species of giant tortoises

and iguanas that are endemic only to the island – some of the tortoises have been recorded

to be at least 100 years old.
