Guide to project management #04 Diminishing returns - Duration: 6:00.

Hello everyone I am Gigi Miu!

In this lesson we talk about when to stop

Since this is another common mistake that people often do

The mistake is originated because people sometimes thinks that the more time they invest into a project the better it becomes

While this is true, people often fail to acknowledge an important thing

Which is the effectiveness of the time invested

This is often referred as diminishing returns

Now if you know some basics of maths you can easily understand this graph

On the horizontal axis we have the time invested

On the vertical one the quality of the task

So basically the longer time we invest on a single task

The effectiveness of the quality we add in relation to the time spent tend to decrease

This concept is really simple. The more time you invest on a single task, the less are the returns for the time spent.

This is due to what is called skill plateau or task plateau depending on which comes first

The sill plateau is you actual skill limit. Once you reach it even if you spend more time on it you are not probably going to improve anytime soon

Since skill improving requires time

We will come back to skill improving on a different video of the series

Instead the task plateau is the limit intrinsic to the task

To put it simple is like to keep adding water to an already filled bottle

Tasks, like bottles have their "capacity"

And sometimes keep adding resources and time to them is just a mere waste of resources

So now to answer the question "when should I stop?"

the answer is when you have reached the point of the diminishing return

In which after that adding time and resources would yield a drastic decrease of effectiveness

Now you may ask "How do I understand when I have reached the point of diminishing return?"

But to this there is no magic answer, since each project is different and we are all different as creators

What you can do is to strictly monitor time and resources spent in the project/task

And check when they are starting losing effectiveness

A calendar or tracking time (and we already discussed of them in a previous lesson) will help you tremendously in this

But you don't need them to understand that. After a while this comes natural.

But for sure you can use them at the beginning as long as you critically analyze the data they provide

That's all for this lesson. Thanks for watching and do not forget to subscribe!

The Untold Truth Of Susan Boyle - Duration: 4:14.

The world was introduced to Susan Boyle in 2009 on Britain's Got Talent.

Her voice caught the attention of the world, and she has been in the spotlight ever since.

She's been open in the past about her health struggles and her family drama, but what is

there that fans don't know about the famous singer?

Let's take a look at some untold truths about the one-of-a-kind Susan Boyle.

Forgive and forget

It would be easy for this famous singer to see her success as payback to all of those

kids who used to bully her in school.

But interestingly enough, Boyle is not holding on to those bad feelings.

In fact, she has been in contact with some of those past school bullies.

She spoke to this point during an interview on Piers Morgan Tonight.

Sounds like a happy ending to us, but that's only the beginning.

Madonna is the best medicine

Boyle is a major Madonna fan.

Sure, she loves the music, but her reason for being such a big fan goes deeper.

Boyle reflected on this fact with The Huffington Post UK, saying:

"When I was ill, at the very beginning, they gave me some albums to listen to.

They were all Madonna, and she actually helped me.

She helped me get through that."

Now, Boyle has reached a level of fame that even a superstar like Madonna could appreciate,

with a bunch of songs that no doubt help others the same way Madonna once helped her.

No negative Nancy

Boyle has been through a lot of bad times in her life, but she doesn't let negativity

get the best of her.

In fact, she doesn't like the word "negative."

She told The Huffington Post UK:

"Negativity, that's a bit of a swear word...

Negativity can always be turned on its head, and made into a positive.

There is always a silver lining, and there's a lot of good that counteracts the bad."

To avoid focusing on the dreaded negative, Boyle works hard to be good at what she does,

saying: "People write things about you, people may say things about you but they can't hurt

you.

Because if you do your job well, and people like what you do, that counteracts the bad.

And turns it around, into a good thing.

Into a positive thing."

Musical love

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Susan Boyle is a big fan of musicals.

She discussed this love during an interview with Female First, describing what this form

of art brings to her life.

She said, "The theatre is a sanctuary for me and I especially love the way stories are

communicated through the lyrics and the music, it taps all emotions and senses."

So the ultimate moment for Boyle came when I Dreamed a Dream, a musical that tells the

story of Boyle's life, began previews in 2012.

The singer spoke with Female First about her first thoughts on the musical, saying, "It

really blew me away.

I never thought for a second people would want to come and watch that.

It was a great honour."

Diagnosis relief

One fact that has been featured in the news about Boyle is her health and her diagnosis

of Asperger's, yet fans may not know or have expected her reaction to this diagnosis.

Boyle spoke with the Observer about her sense of relief when she received the news.

"I have always known that I have had an unfair label put upon me.

Now I have a clearer understanding of what's wrong and I feel relieved and a bit more relaxed

about myself."

And with that sense of peace, Boyle has been able to move forward and better understand

who she is:

"Asperger's doesn't define me.

It's a condition that I have to live with and work through, but I feel more relaxed

about myself.

People will have a much greater understanding of who I am and why I do the things I do."

Fashion regrets

When Boyle looks back on her first audition for Britain's Got Talent, she doesn't always

think about the success that was about to begin.

As she shared on Today, her first thoughts were actually about what she was wearing.

She could also see that she lacked confidence, which makes her even happier with the ways

she's changed in the years since.

Family values

Even as fame has continued to grow for Boyle, she has stayed consistent.

As Boyle shared on Piers Morgan Tonight, her mother taught her "Christian values" that

help keep her humble.

Though her mother passed away before seeing Boyle achieve worldwide fame, her values live

on.

"What were the values she taught you?"

"Christian values.

How to put yourself in other people's shoes."

Boyle credits that faith for the success she has reached in her career, sharing with with

The Christian Post, "My faith is incredibly important to me on every level.

It gets me through those moments of self-doubt and also allows me to understand that this

gift of my career, later in life, is from a higher power."

Sounds like Susan Boyle couldn't be happier with all her newfound fame.

How to Make vocaloid Music #13 Advanced Vocaloid controls - Duration: 9:46.

Hello everyone I am Gigi Miu!

In this lesson we will talk about advanced commands available in the Vocaloid editor

Up to now we just seen how to write phonemes and how to make a Vocaloid sing.

While now we will see how to tweak the sound that the Vocaloid is producing

For a complete and detailed description of the commands we will see today I suggest you to check out Vocaloid wiki

VEL (Velocity) changes the speed in which phonemes are pronounced in particular the way consonants are pronounced.

DYN (Dynamics) changes the volume in which the phoneme is pronounced

You can do this in post production as well with your DAW, just changing the volume of that portion of the sound but having it here makes life easier

BRE (Breathiness) changes how much breath is in that phoneme

BRI (Brightness) add high frequencies to the voice

CLE (Clearness) changes how much the phoneme is "sharp" and easy to understand

OPE (Opening) changes the opening of the "mouth"

Human mouth is like a resonance chamber, so this command tries to emulate what is happening inside the mouth

GEN (Gender Factor) changes the formant of the voice

POR (Portamento Timing), PIT (Pitch Bend) and PBS (Pitch Bend Sensitivity) are all commands related to the pitch.

POR changes the pitch sliding between the notes PIT changes the pitch

PBS how much pitch is influenced when using the PIT command

If you don't know what the pitch is the pitch is the degree of highness or lowness of a note

Do re mi fa doll ecc. Each note has a different pitch

So POR, PIT and PBS they all affect pitch or aspects of it

GWL (Growl) gives the voice aggressiveness of the vowels

XSY (Cross-Synthesis) allows the mixing of 2 different voiceband inside a single phoneme

As I told you don't forget to read the details description in Vocaloid wiki

Now let's have a look on how to edit these parameters inside the editor

When you select one of these parameters the corresponding part of the interface, hidden by default, will show up

You can edit all these commands using the pencil and/or the arrow tool depending on the command

AFTER THIS POINT THERE ARE VISUAL EXAMPLES ON HOW TO EDIT THE SETTINGS.

Thats's all for this lesson. Thanks for watching and do not forget to subscribe.

14 Common Problems INFJs Deal With In Their Dating Lives - Duration: 7:37.

14 Common Problems INFJs Deal With In Their Dating Lives

INFJ are quiet, empathetic dreamers with huge hearts, INFJs are one of the rarest personality

types, which naturally, makes them quite odd.

It's their strangeness that makes them come off as mysterious and intriguing to others,

but it's often their strangeness that creates problems within their dating lives.

Here are 14 common romantic problems INFJs deal with in their lives.

1.

INFJs get frustrated when they make an attempt to connect with someone and the person fails

to share their enthusiasm.

INFJs can read people extremely well, so when they make an attempt to connect with someone

on a deeper level or discuss something that means a lot to them, they can instantly tell

when the other person isn't on the same wavelength as them.

This leads them to wonder why they even bothered at all and makes them more hesitant to reveal

other things about themselves in the future.

2.

They want to believe in the best in their partner (even if it comes at a cost to their

well being).

This doesn't mean that INFJs are perfect in relationships.

They obviously have their share of faults too, but INFJs are one of the least likely

personality types to give up on their partner.

Although they know there are issues, and even when they know within their bones something

isn't working out, they will fight for their relationship longer than they should.

3.

They can falter to their weaknesses if they get into a relationship with the wrong person.

INFJs are very easily affected by the energy and environment around them.

Their most successful relationships are with strong people who can lift them up and help

them realize their potential (as INFJs are highly idealistic).

If they end up in an unhealthy relationship with a lot of chaos or uncertainty, it can

bring out the worst in them.

4.

If it's obvious a new dating situation is going nowhere, they will end it so they can

put their energy elsewhere.

While INFJs are completely capable of casual dating, they feel most fulfilled in longterm

relationships or connections with people that go deeper than the surface.

If they get the gut instinct this is only a temporary thing and there's nothing else

to sustain what you have with them besides sex, they'll quickly find a way out.

5.

Even in the best relationship they can often feel a sense of loneliness and isolation.

The thing about INFJs is that they're known as not only being strange people, but for

having a great self-awareness about it.

Although they might be happy in their relationship and content with their dating life, INFJs

can still feel a great deal of loneliness and a lack of feeling understood.

This leads to them needing time alone to deal with what they're experiencing within.

6.

It can be difficult to let someone else in, even if they want to get close to them.

INFJs hold their wounds close to their heart.

The things that they've overcome that have made them who they are today can be difficult

to reveal, even to the people they love and care for the most.

This creates problems in their relationships when their partner tries to break down their

walls and has a hard time getting through.

7.

They can get too in their head about things.

INFJs can be intense people.

One of their flaws is overthinking things that are much simpler than they make them

out to be or over analyzing situations before they proceed.

8.

INFJs prefer to live an unconventional lifestyle.

They aren't driven by the same things (wealth, material items) as most of society and are

more interested in experiences vs possessions.

They need something a little different in life to feel content and fulfilled, and sometimes

this can create problems in dating if they find themselves with a partner who grew up

(and wants) a more traditional lifestyle.

9.

They have a hard time connecting with someone who can't slow down and enjoy the little

moments in life.

INFJs have difficulty in bonding with people who live a fast paced life or have to constantly

be surrounded by other.

It's not that INFJs can't develop happy relationships with extroverts, but they need

a partner who places an emphasis on one-on-one experiences together, because that is where

an INFJ truly flourishes.

It's the moments when you're doing seemingly nothing together except just hanging out and

talking, sharing your stories and thoughts that an INFJ feels like they are really bonding

with you.

10.

INFJs struggle with bouts of depression.

As creative types, INFJs can struggle with depression during moments of artistic blocks

or when they don't feel like the work they've produced is good enough.

Other times they deal with periods of sadness when they're feeling particularly lonely

or misunderstood (as mentioned previously).

Their feelings about their artistic work and inability to feel understood can affect their

relationships if their bout of depression lasts long.

11.

The inner world of an INFJ is so much more than what you see on the outside but it takes

time for them to reveal that side to others.

INFJs have an innate ability to develop rich inner worlds they can retreat to when the

outside world becomes too much.

Their inner-self closely mimics the personality of an ENFP – energetic, fearless, and outgoing.

It's not that they have a problem bringing these two sides of themselves together to

be a thoughtful, witty, outgoing person in social settings, but it usually isn't until

they feel comfortable with people to really show their true personality.

12.

INFJs can be easily disappointed.

They are highly idealistic and are always dreaming up some new big idea, not only for

themselves, but to share with their partner and loved ones.

The problem comes when they forget to maintain a level of realism and find their ideas blowing

up in their face.

The easiest way to deal with this is for their partner to help keep them grounded during

their bouts of daydreaming.

13.

They can be just as self-absorbed as they can be loving and generous with their time

and attention.

While INFJs are known to be self-sacrificing in their relationships, they also can be just

as easily self-absorbed depending on what's going on in their life.

They want their partner to be just as enthusiastic about their life's endeavors and pursuits

as they are but, obviously, this doesn't always happen.

While they are warm-hearted and empathetic individuals, they can also go off into their

own world and forget about others until they come back out again.

14.

Sometimes their greatest romantic interests will turn into nothing because INFJs rarely

initiate anything in dating.

INFJs have a problem with being the first one to show interest or to reveal their feelings

when it comes to matters of the heart.

They would much rather observe the other person, over analyze every possible situation and

outcome, and slowly test the waters before even giving a small piece of themselves.

Even if they have great admiration for someone or get a big crush on another person, an INFJ

will often bury that feeling within themselves until they feel (through their observations)

that the other person is also interested.

Unfortunately, this isn't a great dating method and leaves INFJs wondering what could

be with someone all because they refused to initiate anything.

All in all, that's the 14 Common Problems INFJs Deal With In Their Dating Lives.

Really cool information isn't it!

Mud and more in Mekong-Delta in Vietnam (with Subtitles) - Duration: 12:56.

Mud and more in Mekong Delta

Early in the morning

optimism...

... and bad weather

we drive over a bridge

This is called Mekong Delta

that's like driving on a salt lake

really nice and smooth

according to the GPS we are exactly on the line

here you can see it

in 5.5 km we have to turn left

slowly the street becomes more civilized again

... and you can hope ...

Are you satisfied with the overall situation?

Very...survived...

You are not out yet !

Why? The 3 km are not over yet?

That's right ...

... but the next 20 km are still undefined.

Now we have the road back...

... also pretty lonely ...

... but it starts to grumble

Now we have the f... (ähhh), the havy rain

we're on the road 80

on this stupid big street

where the traffic is pretty dense

and with constantly honking

passing by plenty of fast driving buses and trucks

Not nice

The luck has got us again

we have seen a wifi sign

with any Vietnamese writings

we actually drove back

and found this gem

for only 100

thousand

100.000 VND ... including air condition

just took the ferry across the river

Now it really starts

big repair today

oil chains, tensioning chains, adjust the brakes...

now it is already quite late, 10 o'clock

and we still have 100 km to go

that takes a little getting used to, if you come up here with swing

picturesque landscapes ...

but not picturesque track

Something has just broken

we'll turn back here

it does not work here

really sticky clay

we have ... the clay ... in such lumps ... on the bicycle tire

... or on the shoes ... as additional weights

Now we have a paved path

but not quite in the direction where we want

We drive north but have to go northwest

our bicycles are to be taken with caution ...

... they slowly purify themselves again

Ute is still there

Yes, I'm not stuck ... luckily!

We are invited for lunch

Should i get the whistle out?

The path is getting smaller again

But on the other side of the river we have a nice way

unfortunately no bridge

we hope

that the state of the way at least stays that way

that looks nice here

nice green

green, sunny and warm

we even have a road

the last 4 km he is either behind us or just ahead of us

What are you eating?

Rice ...

Over there is my "favorite" highway 80

a lot of horns, buses and trucks

By contrast, this industrial area here is the purest oasis

The normal madness ...

Now we can eat a lot

Yes, but we have already eaten two kilograms for 80

Now we have 4 kg for 20

Eddy is packed well now ...

... after our bargain shopping

4 kg for not even 50 cents

There is ice cream

Many bridges connect the beds

right or left ?

We have now missed the right turn

but there is still a way

They are not down yet, but the next ones are going up already

traffic jam in the market

Today we continue to Ho Chi Minh City

But first we say goodbye to Cai Be

Even here there are buses. You should'nt believe it.

the setting sun

Today we drive to Ho Chi Minh City

only 41 km

Let's see if it stays that way

The haze of Ho Chi Minh City ...

... it's scratching your throat

It's all laid out generously here ...

... even a bridge only for not pedestrians and not trucks

In the meantime, a little bit of traffic has started

... but we still have it under control

So ... What now? ... Let's have a look

Just over ?! Ahh ... there is a way!

Very simple!

Take a bike ...

... and just start driving!
