Greeting Wargamers & Players, Welcome to How to Paint Fast and Easy, I'm Meinkopt and in this painting guide we shall see how to give color to a Stormcast Angharad from the Shadespire Game.
As the same of the other two members of the band, I'm looking to paint each of them as a different Stormhost, to make them visually more interesting and to bring to the channel the other three styles of painting from the stormcast.
In the case of Angharad we shall give it the appearance of the Celestial Warbringers, that stand out because of the armor in a violet off tone with some touches of white.
The first step will be to get in the armor, starting with the base tone, that will be a mix of equal parts of Screamer Pink and Rhinox Hide. The mix will be of a very dark tone that the base Screamer Pink.
The layer base shall be covering completely the armor and even if this mix is made of concentrated pigmented tones, if it needs more than one layer we shall give it more.
Once the base layer applied, we proceed to give a wash with Agrax Earthshade, to add more depth to the tone, which will help us in the next steps.
Now we shall take again the tone used in the layer base and start to apply it in a degrading way in the armor, with soft strokes and diluted paint, we shall get the lights out standing out the form of the armor. It's important to keep the resulting tone of the wash in those parts that are more deep, nooks, and fold from the armor.
We apply the base tone, only once, because the next strokes will be getting up the color tone, adding more Screamer Pink to the mix to get up the light. Remember that the armors of the Celestial Warbringrs doesn't have a very vivid tone that's why we don't have to get up too much the light tones.
The armor it's finished, now we proceed to the rest of the details. In this case we're going to paint the golds that will have a off and old tone, that will go well with the armor tone.
Be careful to paint the zones where the armor is finished, we shall pain the edges of the shoulders, the symbols and some other extra detail with the base of Balthasar Gold.
Once dried, we give it a wash with Agrax Earthshade to add some depth.
Once the tint it's dried, we mix Balthasar Gold with Gehenna Gold in equal parts and apply it with soft strokes over it, avoiding that the paint strain in the nooks cause we're searching to give some shine and luster to the gold.
For this steps we used a small flat point brush and with hard hair that might help with the process.
We can get some shine in the golds adding more Gehenna Gold tot he mix and lately add Auric Armor Gold, until we get the intensity that we like. If we want to add a more strong point of light, like the edges, we only need to add a little of Runefang Steel or Ironbreaker Armor to create the intensity that it's need it for it.
Now we proceed to the other metals, in this case the grey color.
How to search for something intense and that wont be very blured, we give a layer base directly with Leadbelcher.
Once applied, we give it a very light wash with Nuln Oil to the metal and we wait for it to dry.
Once dry, we give it soft strokes with Ironbreaker Armor to stand out the light or give it some luster to the metal and create the effect of shine.
To give that appearance of celestial in the metal from the stormcast, we apply a wash with Drakenhof Nightshade over them and leave it to dry.
Lastly, with Runefang Steel, we give it some very soft strokes over the metals, mainly to stand out the edges and the more showy parts.
For the white tones, we start with a base of Celestra Grey, that will help us to settle well the white tone independently of the imprimation tone.
Then, we give it a light wash with Agrax Earthshade, mainly to add some background to the unions and nooks.
To get the light out and the white tone of this scheme, the next step will be to add a little of Agrax Earthshade to the Celestra Grey and with the technique of bluring little by little getting the tone more light, and finish it adding White Scar to the mix for the final lights.
For the belt, straps and leather, we use Abaddon Black for the base, and illuminate it adding little by little a grey tone like Celestra Grey.
For the edge of the tabard, we mix Screamer Pink with Kantor Blue in equal parts, then in this way we shall have a darker purple tone that will serve us for the base. Then we can get it more vivid adding for the light a little of Screamer Pink to the mix.
For the short sword and mace handles, it was given for the base Khorne Red and then illuminated with Mephistone Red.
For the scroll, it was used a mix of equal parts of Steel Legion Drab with Rakarth Flesh for the base.
Then it was applied a abundant wash with Agrax Earthshade and to add some depth to the gravings and after with the wash dried, illuminated it with the same base tone.
If we want more light, we add more Rakarth Flesh to the mix.
And with this steps you will have in no time any Stormcast from the Celestial Warbringers ready to expel the chaos in the name of Sigmar.
