Chemtrails Explained In Under 2 minutes - Duration: 1:47.What exactly is the "chemtrails" conspiracy?
I'm Steve Vasquez for Uproxx, and you've probably noticed these white streaks in the sky.
They're clouds of water vapor that form when the warm exhaust of a plane's engine
encounters cold temperatures in the upper atmosphere.
But some people think there's a lot more to the story.
Conspiracy theorists call these chemtrails, and believe the government is spraying chemicals
into the atmosphere in order to control the weather and population - a practice they call
"geoengineering."
Many theorists cite the sudden appearance and disappearance of the trails as proof that
something is going on.
You'll see a plane like there flying normal and then all of a sudden it starts spraying.
However, scientists overwhelmingly agree theres no substance to the theory, and say that these
condensation trails appear and disappear based on the moisture content in the air.
When atmosphere is very dry the streak is shorter and it disappears.
But, believers say the theory explains a lot, like increases in violence.
And believers even include celebrities–like Prince, who spoke about the theory in a 2009 interview:
When I was a kid I used to see these trails in the sky all the time and
would say oh that's cool a jet just went by and then you started to see a whole bunch of them.
And the next thing you know everybody in your neighborhood was fighting and arguing and you didn't know why.
Ok, and you really didn't know why. I mean everybody was fighting.
And Kylie Jenner famously tweeted out an image speculating that chemtrails might have something
to do with the population decline in honey bees.
The theories persist, in large part, because they spread online. But some conspiracists admit it's hard to tell the difference between fact and fiction. One such woman was left questioning her beliefs after seeing a video debunking the theory.
With so much information out there, conspiracy theories are bound to gain traction. So… how can we know the truth from the lies?
I'm Steve Vasquez, and you're watching UPROXX.

How Remixes Hijack Your Brain - Duration: 10:01.I hope you're ready to travel back in time.
Here's an idea: Remixes hijack your brain.
There are some ideas, based in science, that explain why.
[BrainCraft intro]
In mid 2016, you were reminded that... you're an allstar when Smash Mouth's hit song from
1999 saw a sudden resurgence.
All-Star became a popular remix meme and videos like this started sprouting up.
This guy from New Jersey, Jon Sudano, creates covers of various songs only with the lyrics
to All-Star.
This Japanese creator played the song just using calculators.
Very quickly, All-Star went from a 90s earworm to an artistic medium.
This extra meaning and relevance was generated by the audience, where disparate individuals
interacted to create together.
My last videos explored the Neuroscience of Creativity and practical tips to be more creative.
This video will look at creativity through the lens of the remix.
And by remix I mean a new work that is composed of reorganised or reinterpreted pieces of
an existing work.
Like a video meme such as All-Star, an auto-tuned song, a supercut or a mashup.
And there's one thing all of these formats have in common: We love to watch them.
So… why?
Why is it so enjoyable to watch something you've probably already seen or heard being
reproduced in a new way?
At the heart of the remix is the idea of participatory creativity, where what we call creativity
is not the product of single individuals, but of social systems.
Imagine the creator is part of a system of influences and information, and what they
produce is a novel variation of ideas already floating around in that system.
Right now, you're in one of these systems… on YouTube.
One of the best ways to understand human creativity today is by studying the internet.
Broadcasting used to be one of those hard to access and incredibly difficult to get
into mediums.
The internet, with all its distractions and blinking animated GIFs and pictures of cute
cats, has given rise to this particular and particularly easy to digest format.
YouTube has been called a remix culture, "in which youth, operating collectively, combine
existing material to produce their own work."
Through this culture, a collective intelligence emerges, a group intelligence that comes from
the collaboration of many individuals.
Collective intelligence and participatory creativity fuel each other.
We generate more ideas and influences into the system and more work comes out of it.
Creativity is often seen as a mental process, but it's also a social and cultural event
as much as a psychological one.
Because together, we can
"build a happy little cloud.
Let's build some happy little trees"
So why is it so enjoyable to watch something being reproduced in a new way?
Well, the repetition of the remix and a familiarity with the original content makes it particularly
easy to digest.
At the core of this is cognitive fluency–it's a measure of how easy it is to think about
something.
Your brain is drawn to information it can fluently process.
Let's build a happy little cloud.
And the remix appeals to our sense of nostalgia.
"Let's build some happy little trees" Nostalgia is a complex human emotion – research
has found songs that make us feel nostalgic hold disproportionate power over our emotions.
Nostalgia makes you feel better about yourself.
More research found that feeling nostalgic can make us feel physically warmer.
It makes you feel like you can...
Just do it.
In 2015, more than any other year, it was particularly hard to avoid Shia LaBeouf.
This full thirty-one-minute compilation video was created for a show at a London art school
and because the green screen footage was designed to be easily manipulable, professional remixers
around the world sprung to action.
The original instructions from the art school weren't intended to be humorous, but the
funny remixes were how we chose to participate.
And the appeal for us to watch the remixes was in their absurdity.
We find things funny when they don't match our implicit assumptions – This is known
as incongruity theory, where comedy is derived from an unexpected cognitive encounter between
two incongruent or unexpected elements.
In these videos Shia is wild and robotic yet appears to interact with the environments
he's placed in.
To our brains it makes sense, yet is completely unexpected.
This motivational speech became, arguably, the most popular art piece of the year.
And at this point, you may be wondering:
Why should anybody care about this in the first place?
Well, the remix can have a big impact.
In 2011, the remix "Zenga Zenga" was a rare criticism within Libya of it's then
leader Gaddafi or his four-decade rule.
And this critique only used his own words and actions to do the critique.
It was just remixed and autotuned.
The creator, Noy Alooshe, said Gaddafi had been well known for his eccentricities, which
had made him seem relatable.
He then said, "After the remix, after the 'Zenga Zenga,' it became the opposite
. . . he became like a cartoon, you know?"
"It changed the way people think about Gaddafi"
Now, no world leader can escape from the remixes that accompany election cycles, political
events and continued protest.
A supercut in the language of the original creator can strengthen an argument or make
it more compelling.
We see a narrative form from disparate works, that's often mesmerizing in the scope of
material involved.
This remix often plays to our confirmation biases – with no commentary we interpret
the information in a way that confirms our preexisting beliefs.
Many supercuts provide hard evidence of the existence of tropes long suspected but never
quite proved
The point of Sorkinisms is much stronger than me telling you, "Aaron Sorkin uses the same
phrases."
Or that, "Alex Trebek is a stickler for accuracy".
My argument is accentuated by just showing you the evidence.
The repetition is the most convincing and compelling way to make a point.
The repetition is the most convincing and compelling way to make a point.
Remixes hijack our brains because we crave repetitive, easy-to-digest pieces of media.
We get an emotional boost from humour and nostalgia, and love finding evidence that
confirms something we've long suspected or already believe.
Remixing is the language of the internet – The products of this participatory creativity
are just as wonderful, curious and even confusing as we are.
And it's a new way our voices can be heard.
So… consider the power of the remix.
Go on.
Just do it.

ANNIE: Origins | Behind the Scenes | League of Legends - Duration: 4:32.Annie's always been a character in our mind
that could be expressed beyond the game constructs.
There's something interesting here because it is a really crazy story
about how she becomes who she is.
She loses everything, but then gains her own
self-confidence in what she's capable of doing.
We've never had an opportunity to go deep
into who Annie really is before,
why she's such a troubled, pained, and tragic character.
Annie as a character has this dark side of her.
She is a little evil.
Very little and innocent girl.
And so a lot of people underestimate her.
She really stands out with her character,
with her look and Tibbers of course.
She is this tragic character with these very dark powers.
She'll burn you and laugh while doing so.
Anthony had a really cool idea on her origin story,
how she became who she is,
to help people understand the soul of Annie.
If we told that story for the Annie that
we have in game right now,
just evil kid that has fire,
I think that makes Annie's story flat.
We wanted to expand her world.
A lot of her power comes from her emotion and
sort of depth of pain and anguish.
Tibbers is central to that power.
Tibbers was a gift from her mom,
kind of the last tangible memory and connection
she has to her real mom.
We want to portray this child side of Annie
and that's why we settled on this painterly and fairy tale kind of style.
It looks like a painting coming into life.
How much can we make Annie's story feel like a child's fairy tale
being told back to you in a medium that's appropriate for that?
We've never done anything like this before.
There was a lot of R&D that required actually a team
to spend quite a bit of time to figure out the look and feel.
We tested out motion capture initially
and then from there we started with 2D,
but it just didn't really work well for our project.
Why don't we just paint every single frame?
Realistically if you were to paint 24 frames a second,
you'd need like an army of people
to be able to do something like that.
We're talking in thousands upon thousands of hand-painted frames.
The problem is how do you build a character that looks painterly
but is still able to give you a performance that is realistic?
We've seen full 3D CG content before
and we wanted something that just looked unique
and something that we could call our own
and live up to an Annie story.
I pushed to use realistic 3D
and then making it look painterly.
I want to be sure that the end result
is looking more hand-crafted.
We start from our foundation
which is producing the actual 3D animation that you'll see
that feels flat but gives us the emotion.
So we project this flat image onto the 3D model itself.
Now that one 3D character
has this texture on it that feels painterly.
And then finishing it off
with the painterly cel animation on top to give it life.
Alright, so we'll start here.
They should be forty percent smaller.
Thinking the tree on the right
is too low.
Aaah.
Oooh.
The perspective that everyone has of Annie
is her in game,
so let's bring it out.
Let's see how much of that personality
we can get out of it
to incorporate what we know of her,
including her abilities.
So for instance, burning her sister,
that's her Q.
Setting fire to her room,
you know, that's her shield.
So I'm hoping that when you do use your R
or when you've actually created Tibbers,
that it sparks that memory of like, "Oh yeah, yikes!"
If you want the character inside people's heart,
you have to build a backstory
to let people be related to them.
You're going to feel connected to her
in a different way.
And I like her more.
Now she's someone real.
She's not pixels on the screen.
I hope that players when they watch this
it elicits a connection
an emotion to make you feel for her.

The Real Reason You Don't Hear From Taylor Lautner Anymore - Duration: 5:05.When The Twilight Saga was at its height, it seemed like Taylor Lautner was set to become
one of Hollywood's biggest stars…but then it didn't really turn out that way.
Here's what may have happened.
Faded hype
Lautner's Twilight co-stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were clever with their
careers.
While still attached to the franchise, they both starred in other films, like Adventureland
and Water For Elephants.
As a result, the duo likely had an easier time transitioning to other roles post-Twilight.
Lautner, however, had only a bit part in Valentine's Day to hold him over until the franchise was
over.
A source told The Hollywood Reporter,
"It's not easy to move out of the shadow of a hit like Twilight.
But he's still very young.
There's time for Taylor to become more than just Jacob."
Box office bomb
Lautner was the marquee name in 2011's Abduction, but the movie didn't do well… at all.
The film was critically panned and earned a humiliating 4 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
That wouldn't be so bad if the box office numbers were better, but the flick made only
$28 million dollars domestically, not even breaking even on its $35 million budget.
An agent told The Hollywood Reporter,
"His first movie just wasn't very good, and it didn't justify what he was asking for at
the time."
"I'd be lying if I said there was no pressure involved.
But you know, I just try and stay focused on what I can control."
Too expensive
Studios just don't think Lautner is worth the money he asks for.
A source told Vulture that Lautner's talent agency...
"... [did] a brilliant job of convincing Hollywood that he's the next big movie star, but didn't
convince audiences of the same."
Lautner demanded $5 million dollars for Abduction.
When that bombed, studios could no longer justify the $7.5 million he asked for to star
in Stretch Armstrong and the whopping $10 million to star in the re-telling of the Biblical
David and Goliath.
Both movies were shelved indefinitely.
Four years after Abduction, Tracers was Lautner's second attempt at a leading role.
Unfortunately, the film never even got a U.S. theatrical release, and the reviews from those
who actually did see it were not good.
The Ridiculous 6
Lautner seems to have gotten in tight with Adam Sandler, landing a bit part in Grown-Ups
2 and a supporting role in the Netflix film The Ridiculous Six.
Unfortunately, The Ridiculous Six not only scored a whopping 0 percent on Rotten Tomatoes,
but also happened to stir up a lot of controversy over perceived racist jokes.
Lautner would probably do well to just leave that one off of his resume.
Passion project
In 2016, Lautner took on the film Run the Tide, an indie drama with no budget and no
big studio backing.
It couldn't have been further from his Twilight roots or his attempts at becoming an action
hero.
Lautner described the film in a Metro interview as a passion project for everyone involved.
Unfortunately, reviews were dismal.
The A.V.
Club labeled it:
"...bargain-basement schmaltz, too blandly folksy even for Sundance."
...and the Young Folks claimed:
"...the emotion felt forced and it lacked authenticity."
The review even zeroed in specifically on Lautner's performance, saying that
"...he just isn't very believable, as much as he tries to be."
Is it any surprise that Lautner seemed to take a sabbatical after this?
Taking his time
Lautner has admitted that he'll be pickier about the roles he chooses moving forward.
When asked by ABC News if he was worried about being "pigeonholed" by his Twilight role,
Lautner said,
"That's kind of why I want to choose things that are different."
While he considers his career's direction, Lautner's really not in any hurry to get back
on a movie set.
He told Reuters in November 2016,
"For me the biggest thing is just surrounding myself with people that I love, just spending
time, it doesn't matter what I'm doing as long as I'm with my friends and my family."
"When I'm not working?
You know, playing sports with my buddies.
Watching The Bachelor."
Focused on love?
Lautner and Billie Lourd met on the set of Scream Queens, and their onscreen romance
spilled over into real life.
According to People, Lourd and Lautner's rumored relationship began in December 2016.
Lourd's uncle, Todd Fisher, said the relationship was as serious as it was adorable, telling
E! News,
"He's stepped up and acted like a husband would act.
Not that that's what's going on, but it's just an amazing support system for her, and
I'm glad he's in her life."
However, by July 2017, Lourd and Lautner were over as a couple.
Is it possible that Lautner had pressed the pause button on acting for this romance?
Work reunion?
One of the brighter spots in Lautner's career has been the gamble he took replacing Andy
Samberg's character on the BBC comedy Cuckoo.
He was playing completely against type, but he apparently nailed it.
According to The Telegraph, Lautner was:
"...very good indeed."
Series co-star Greg Davies also had nothing but praise for Lautner, hinting to Metro in
November 2017 that they may work together in the future.
He said,
"It's an unlikely friendship.
We're doing two more series next year.
I get on really well with him.
He's a thoroughly decent chap."
Granted, that's not a confirmation that Lautner is on board, but it sure seems like he's got
an open invitation and a critically-lauded avenue to pursue should he choose to accept
it.

Whatever Happened To Joey Buttafuoco? - Duration: 4:17.In 1992, the nation was captivated by a horrendous crime saga involving a 17-year-old student
named Amy Fisher and her alleged lover, a 35-year-old auto repair shop owner named Joey
Buttafuoco.
Fisher shot Buttafuoco's wife, Mary Jo, in the head at their home in New York, but Mary
Jo survived.
Dubbed the "Long Island Lolita," Fisher served seven years in prison, and Joey spent six
months in jail after pleading guilty to one count of statutory rape, according to USA
Today.
What's become of Joey since his release?
We've got the scoop.
Divorce
Believe it or not, Joey and Mary Jo remained married after the shooting in 1992.
It wasn't until 2003 that the couple called it quits, according to USA Today.
Joey told the paper at the time:
"It's OK.
To move on you've got to get a divorce.
She's with another guy.
His name is Stew.
I've been with a girl for awhile, too."
Joey's attorney claimed the pair remained friends and were trying to work out the details
of the divorce amicably.
Harsh opinions
Years after the couple split, Mary Jo shared some personal opinions about her ex-husband.
On the series Scandal Made Me Famous, she said:
"[Sociopaths] can charm the snakes out of the trees.
That is one of the traits about Joe that I loved so much about him.
And he was very, very good at it, as most sociopaths are."
She repeated her claims about Buttafuoco in a 2008 interview with CBS:
"He's a sociopath.
I spend a lot of years with this man, I was married to him for 22 years."
Child backlash
Speaking with Oprah Winfrey in 2005, Joey and Mary Jo's daughter Jessie says her childhood
was stolen from her, yet she's found a way to move forward.
"I'm working on a break I built this gigantic wall and I realized that wall and my new mantra
in life is to see what's on the other side of this wall that I've built."
In spite of her positive outlook, she admits that the experience was tough, saying:
"I feel like I was robbed of a childhood.
[...] It was definitely emotionally draining and I think it was even harder for me when
I got older."
While Jessie has kept in contact with her father, she said her brother, Paul, "changed
his last name and wants nothing to do with his dad."
Insurance fraud
In 2003, Joey found himself in the media spotlight all over again.
According to CNN, he was charged with three counts of insurance fraud and one count of
grand theft after an "investigation into bogus insurance claims filed for cars that were
not damaged."
At the time, Joey owned an auto-body repair shop called California Collision in Los Angeles.
He pleaded guilty to a single felony count and was sentenced to one year in jail, five
years probation, and ordered to pay $4,600 in restitution, according to CBS News.
Arrested again
Joey broke the law once more in 2006 when he was busted for possessing ammunition–a
violation of his probation–and ordered to stand trial, reported CBS News.
Joey ultimately pleaded no contest and was sentenced to another year behind bars.
According to Fox News, he was released in April 2007 after three months.
Dinner date
Joey and Fisher met for a dinner date in Port Jefferson, New York in 2007.
Their reunion, captured by The Insider, sparked rumors of a rekindled romance.
"Well, I'm not 16 anymore, and you don't have a wife."
"Nobody's getting shot."
Joey's ex-wife, Mary Jo, had nothing good to say about the whole thing.
She told ABC News:
"Joe has lost everything.
He doesn't have a business; he's been in jail more times than I can count.
He has nothing.
There's nothing in his life, and he's hit rock bottom, and so this is what he does."
Boxing
Joey has sporadically climbed into the ring to throw a few punches on the reality series
Celebrity Boxing.
Buttafuoco was supposed to go toe-to-toe against John Wayne Bobbitt in 2002, but Bobbitt was
removed from the show.
Instead, he took on former WWE wrestler Chyna and won by decision.
In 2011, Joey put on his gloves once again to box Fisher's husband, Lou Bellera, for
Celebrity Fight Night.
In the end, at least some good came out of everything–the proceeds from the fight went
to charity.
Tell-all
Are you still dying to learn more about Joey?
Unfortunately, you may be in luck… eventually.
According to TMZ, Joey claims it's time to "clean the slate," and he plans to do so via
a tell-all memoir titled Closure.
He told the site in 2012:
"Everyone thinks they know [the story] but they really don't.
It's time for all of us to move on.
My book is closure for everyone and our respected families.
It's time."
Maybe it was time in 2012, but so far, that book hasn't happened.
