Waching daily Feb 15 2018

Their entire lives are flashing in front of their eyes!

I gotta give them the 10 on that one ladies and gentlemen!

They gave him a 50!

They gave Jordan a 50!

There's a lot of guys who can dunk

and who can jump

and do things but

I look for more than being able to execute it

That's just half of it. That just a piece of it

Can you just make it look easy?

You know that's when I am talking next level

The evolution of the dunk

opening the minds

of all of these athletes

these guys taking pieces of what people have done

paying homage

Dr. J

mid-70's here

This is something you don't see every day

He was showing...

how far he could fly

And that sends everyone reelin'!

The one thing I admired about this dunk

was that

yeah, guys can go

up high

but how far can you jump?

And the free-throw line was a

pretty solid landmark

Hmm

I already know what this is

That was powerful

You know, Dominique was a

I consider, you know

an angry dunker

I mean that's a two-hand windmill with authority from the sideline

What I look for

What I look for is full extension

is full extension

full extension is a real windmill to me

Anything else is

papermills and you're just blowing little sheets of paper

off the table or something

Boom!

You can just see the power coming through

And you know, this is one of the dunks I personally...

could do

but not like that

Dee Brown

about to put the icing on the cake

Oh my! That's...

That's the cherry on the sundae!

That's the first question I asked him

as a teammate

Did you peek?

So this is from some distance

so you have to have trust

and I want to say he told me he practiced it a couple times

and like, if you don't know where the rim is

If you jump a little left

or a little right and you miss the rim

You're hittin' the ground

Who's thinking of this?

I mean that's impressive man

It's a combination of Dominique and Michael right here

It's a combination

I'm sitting there thinking

in between dunks like

What can I do? What can I do?

Nah, that's not good enough

All right Vince Carter with his first on the final round!

I come up with that

I didn't want an ooh, aah or nothin'

I just wanted the arena silenced

I wanted to show

height

above the rim

so I try to get the ball fully extended

high as I can above the rim

before coming down

At the same time I want to make sure

I'm high enough where I don't fall off

I took a risk

It made for a good competition

This here

is next level

Between the legs...

Good night, everybody...

Good night, ladies and gentlemen

He took it in front of the free-throw line

showing distance, obviously

hang-time ability

That's impressive, man

hands down

I mean it's just, the next level

in the evolution of the dunk

and what's being done

is guys taking pieces

of what former dunkers have done

and putting their twist on it

You know, just when you think

What else could you do?

What could be done?

Guys have the God-given ability

to just go, "hey

Imma do what I do"

THE SECRET MEANING OF THE TREE OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL - Duration: 13:49.

THE SECRET MEANING OF THE TREE OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL

BY Pao L. Chang

To find the secret meaning of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, you need to

first study how certain parts of a tree function.

Furthermore, you need to investigate how certain features of the brain and spine relate to

a tree.

The tree is an important symbol in many spiritual and religious teachings because it represents

the connection between the spiritual realm and material world.

Besides studying the tree, brain and spine, you have to overcome your fear of the Occult

so you have enough courage to tumble down the rabbit hole to explore the world of occult

knowledge.

To find one of the secret meanings of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, you

need to use occult knowledge and the art of word magic to decipher the parables and riddles

in the Book of Genesis.

Many people like to associate the word occult with evil.

This is a big misconception that prevents people from learning important spiritual knowledge.

The word occult comes from the Latin word occultus, meaning hidden, concealed, secret.

Therefore, occult knowledge means hidden knowledge or secret knowledge.

Occult knowledge is like a tool and therefore can be used for good or evil purposes.

For example, a knife can be used to save or end a mans life.

Like a knife, occult knowledge can be used to heal or harm mankind.

Today, many religious people like to verbally attack researchers of the Occult but what

they do not innerstand is that the Bible, the Quran or the Tipitaka contains more occult

knowledge than over 99 percent of the books in the world.

By the end of this article, you will know why the key to deciphering the parables and

riddles of the Bible is occult knowledge.

The Seed of Infinite Potential Throughout the history of man, the tree has

always been a symbol of worship.

One of the reasons for this is because the tree is a great expression of the one and

the many.

As the one, the tree starts as a seed with infinite potential.

This seed contains the atman, a word that comes from the Sanskrit word atma, meaning

essence, breath, soul.

In Hinduism, the word atman means the principle of life or the individual self, known

after enlightenment to be identical with Brahman or (initial capital letter) the World Soul,

from which all individual souls derive, and to which they return as the supreme goal of

existence.

As the one/seed grows, it eventually transforms into a trunk and then sprouts branches and

leaves, becoming more increasingly complex.

By observing and studying how a tree grows, you can see how it beautifully and miraculously

expresses the principle of unity and multiplicity.

This principle of unity and multiplicity can also be seen during the development of a fetus.

The creation of the fetus starts with the merging of two seeds (the sperm and egg).

This merging process transforms the sperm and egg into a zygote which is considered

one seed or one being.

An interesting fact you need to know about the word one is that it is an anagram for

the word neo, a word-forming element meaning new, recent.

Another interesting piece of information is that the word neo is the name of the main

character of the movie The Matrix.

In the movie, Neo eventually became known as the One.

The zygote/one/neo is only a seed but within it contains all the information of

the body of man (male and female).

As the zygote grows and divides itself, it eventually develops into the blastocyst and

then the embryo.

This is the stage when all the different parts of the body develop, such as the spine, heart,

brain, lungs and central nervous system.

An important structure of the body is the skull.

This is the dome of the temple that houses an organ called the brain which

is located between the temples of the head.

This organ has two hemispheres called the left hemisphere and right hemisphere.

The Secret Meaning of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil

Many scientists and spiritual teachers have said that the left hemisphere is the masculine

side of the brain and is responsible for logic, analytical thought, science and math.

As for the right hemisphere, it is the feminine side and is responsible for art, creativity,

holistic thought, imagination and spiritual awareness.

Because the left hemisphere is the masculine side, it is considered good.

One of the reasons for this is that for thousands of years the masculine energy has always been

associated with positive energy or light.

As for the right hemisphere, it is the feminine or negative side and therefore is considered

evil, the characteristic given to darkness.

The right hemisphere (feminine/evil) controls the left hand and the muscles of

the left side of the body.

This is why people who write with their left hands are sometimes judged as bad.

The thoughts produced by the mind and processed by the brain have the power to motivate man

(male and female) to do good or evil things.

This concept is metaphorically represented in the Book of Genesis as the Tree of the

Knowledge of Good and Evil.

Anatomically, this tree represents the left and right hemispheres of the brain.

Is it hard for you to see the connection between the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil

and the left and right hemispheres of the brain?

To make it easier for you to see the connection, let us explore another important tree in the

midst of the garden, called the Tree of Life.

9 And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the

sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree

of knowledge of good and evil.

[Genesis 2:9]

To find the secret meaning of the Tree of Life, you need to study the arbor vitae, which

is an important part of the brain located near the brain stem.

The arbor vitae is defined as a treelike appearance in a vertical section of the cerebellum,

due to the arrangement of the white and gray nerve tissues. To see a picture of the

arbor vitae, click on this link.

The arbor vitae.

The connection between the arbor vitae of the brain and the Tree of Life is plainly

obvious when you know that the Latin term arbor vitae literally means tree of life.

Do you see now that the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and the Tree of Life represent

certain parts of the brain and are not really trees?

The Book of Genesis was NOT written to be read literally.

How do I know this?

Because I have never seen a serpent that talks in real life.

Have you?

The fact that a serpent spoke to Eve in the Book of Genesis should tell you that this

book contains myths.

This is why the Book of Genesis does not make sense until its myths are deciphered.

Dictionary.com defines the word myth using these exact words:

a traditional or legendary story, usually concerning some being or hero or event, with

or without a determinable basis of fact or a natural explanation, especially one that

is concerned with deities or demigods and explains some practice, rite, or phenomenon

of nature.

This definition does a good job of briefly summarizing most of the stories of the Bible.

An important principle that you need to know about myths is that they are often written

in parables and riddles.

The reason for this is that to attain higher spiritual knowledge, you need to learn how

to decipher words to find their deeper meaning.

For example, the knowledge of God can not be understood through words alone because

words can not express the power of knowing.

Because of this, the stories of the Bible were written in parables and riddles to motivate

people to use their spiritual powers to help them decipher the words into information,

assimilate the information into KNOWledge and experience it into wisdom, allowing them

to know what the words mean on a spiritual level.

This is why in Matthew 13:34-35 Jesus said,

34 All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he

not unto them:

35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth

in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the

world.

The Secret Meaning of the Serpent In certain occult teachings, the serpent is

a symbol of life, procreation, wisdom, transformation, fertility and healing.

The serpent also represents the cycle of life, death and rebirth.

Based on my knowledge and research, the serpent in the Book of Genesis represents the ego,

the producer of thoughts related to curiosity, rebellion and disobedience.

These characteristics of the ego are not necessarily bad things.

For example, children are very curious, rebellious and disobedient but do we judge them as bad

or evil?

The serpent represents the ego mind that curiously wants to explore beyond the Garden of Eden.

When you look at the serpent and Adam and Eve from the perspective of the mind, the

serpent is the ego and Adam is the conscious mind and Eve is the subconscious mind.

This concept is related to the Holy Trinity which is defined as the Father, the Son,

and the Holy Spirit existing as one God.

The ego is etymologically defined as the self; that which feels, acts, or thinks.

The word ego comes from the Latin word ego, meaning I.

In other words, the ego is your individuality.

Adam and Eve: The Story of the Creation of Polarity

The name Adam is defined by EtymOnline.com using these exact words:

Biblical name of the first man, progenitor of the human race, from Hebrew adam man,

literally (the one formed from the) ground (Hebrew adamah ground).

To find the occult (secret/hidden) meaning of Adam, you need to use the art of homophone

to help you find a specific word that sounds similar to Adam.

Phonetically, the name Adam sounds nearly identical to the word atom.

Adam and Eve committing original sin, detail from The Virgin of Victory, 1496, by Andrea

Mantegna (1431-1506), tempera on canvas, 280166 cm.

The biblical character Adam represents the positive atom/ion and the biblical character

Eve represents the negative atom/ion.

The Book of Genesis uses myths to secretly tell you about the splitting of the atoms

and the creation of genes and DNA; hence, the title Genesis which is Genes-Is/Genes-Isis.

21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and [H]e took

one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

22 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her

unto the man.

[Genesis 2:21-22]

The biblical story of Adam and Eve is nothing more a story about the creation of polarity.

Adam is the mythical man who represents the positive atom/Divine Masculine Energy and

Eve is the mythical woman who represents the negative atom/Divine Feminine Energy.

Here is an excerpt from my Amazon best seller book titled Word Magic: The Powers & Occult

Definitions of Words that explores the story of Adam and Eve further:

At the deepest level, the biblical story of Adam and Eve is nothing more than a story

of the two creative forces of polarity and why those two forces are constantly fighting

and making love with each other, similar to what people do in an intimate relationship.

This process of fighting (expanding) and making love (contracting) allows the manifestation

of negative and positive experiences.

The knowledge and experience gained from those experiences teach the two creative forces

of polarity to achieve a state of balance and harmony.

Once you innerstand the occult (hidden) meanings of the story of Adam and Eve, you will eventually

know that it is a story of the two creative forces of polarity and their magical journey

to achieve a state of balance and harmony.

Hence, the story of Adam and Eve, the Sun and the Moon, the sperm and the egg, the conscious

and the subconscious, the light (good) and the darkness (evil), the positive

and the negative, the divine masculine and the divine feminine, the Christ and the anti-Christ,

etc.

The people who wrote the Bible were geniuses and knew about atoms and DNA over two thousand

years ago.

Maybe scientists should start paying attention to the secret messages hidden in the Bible

instead of making the ignorant claim that the Bible is full of lies.

The Bible is not really a record of history.

It is a mythical book that teaches people important lessons in life and the secrets

of the Universe through the power of myth.

Because of this, to access the secret knowledge of the Bible requires occult knowledge and

the ability to decipher and assimilate mythical information into knowledge using the art of

word magic.

Crochet Kangaroo Tutorial - Duration: 59:59.

Hello everyone thank you for joining me, I'm Kerri. I'm going to show you how to

crochet a kangaroo with a joey. Today I'll be crocheting the gray one.

Now the materials I'll be using are light gray for the kangaroo, I'll be using a

slightly darker gray for the joey, white for the outer eyes and black for the

nose and the inner eyes. I've got my sewing thread and needle to stitch it

together. I've got red cotton to embroider on a mouth. I've got my scissors,

a 1.25 millimeter crochet hook. I've got my darning needle to weave in the ends

and I've also got some tiny seed beads. I'm going to use one for each of the

joey's eyes. I'd like to thank all my subscribers who have been supporting me.

I've also been getting some lovely comments on YouTube and Facebook and

it's great to know my work is appreciated. Thank you also to the lovely

ladies who have posted some articles they've made using my patterns to my

Facebook community page. If you'd like to post a picture of your creations as well

I'll put a link on the video and in the description below. Now I'm going to start

with the head of the kangaroo. I've got my lighter gray and I make a magic loop,

and work three chain and work fourteen double crochet into my circle.

I pull the circle tight and slip stitch into the third chain. For row two I

start with three chain and I work one double crochet in the same place as the

chain, and then I work two double crochet into each stitch around. So I'll work around

this row and I'll meet you at the end. At the end of the row we slip stitch into

the third chain. Now we're going to start the shaping on the third row we're going

to do the cheeks and the chin. We start with two chain and one half

double crochet in the same place as the chain. Now we're going to work one half

double crochet into each of the next two stitches and two into the following

stitch four times.

Next we work one half double crochet into each of the next two stitches. Now

a single crochet into the next stitch, one half double crochet into the

following stitch and two double crochet into each of the next two stitches,

one half double crochet into the next stitch and then a single crochet in the

following stitch, and that's the first cheek done. Now we'll start on the chin.

One half double crochet in the next stitch, two double crochet in the next, a

half double crochet into the next stitch, and a single crochet in the following

stitch. Now we work one half double crochet into the next stitch, two double

crochet into each of the next two stitches,

a half double crochet into the next and then a single crochet into the last

stitch, and slip stitch into the second chain. For row four we start with one

chain and we work a single crochet into each of our half double crochet and our

double crochet and we're going to work a slip stitch into each of our

single crochet. So one there, one there and one there.

So I'll just work around this row and I'll be back. At the end of the row I

slip stitch into the chain and fasten off. I'm going to start on the white of

the ear now. So from the single crochet just where it goes in after the cheek I

go back seven stitches, and I join my white cotton in there, and I work three

chain and work one double crochet in the same stitch and I work three chain,

and turn. For row two I work one double crochet in the same stitch, and one

double crochet into the top of the three chain,

and I work three chain, and turn, and then I work a double crochet cluster

over both the stitches, and fasten off.

For the other ear I find the single crochet and I go back seven

and join my cotton, and the second ear's worked the same. Three chain and one double

crochet in the same place as the chain and then three chain and turn, a double

crochet in the same place as the chain, and a double crochet in the top of the

chain. Three chain and turn and then a double crochet cluster over the two

stitches, and fasten off.

I'll just weave in my ends because I'll get them all tangled if I don't and I'll

be back and we'll do around the ears. Now for around the ears I join my main

color to the tip of the first ear,

and I work a single crochet into each stitch down to about half way.

Once I'm to halfway I work a half double crochet into each stitch,

and then slip stitch into the head. Now I slip stitch till I get to halfway

between the two ears.

For these if you don't want them just slip stitch straight across, but I work

three chain, I miss the first chain and work a slip stitch into each of the

next two stitches, and then slip stitch into the same place on the head and then

work four chain. I miss the first chain and slip stitch into each of the other

three chain, and then slip stitch into the same place on the head, and then

I work three chain. Miss the first chain and slip stitch into the other two chain,

slip stitch into the head, and then I slip stitch along to the other ear, and I

work a half double crochet into each stitch up to about halfway,

and then work a single crochet into each stitch to the tip of the ear,

and then slip stitch into the ear, and fasten off, and that's the head done. For

the outer eyes, the white part, I start with a magic loop and work two chain, and

six half double crochet into the circle.

I pull the circle tight and slip stitch into the second chain, and fasten off.

I'll need two of those. For the inner eye, using black, I make a magic loop and work

one chain and work three single crochet into my circle.

I pull the circle tight, and slip stitch into the chain, and fasten off. I've got

a tiny circle, I'll need two of those. For the nose, also using black I make a

magic loop, and work two chain, and work a three half double crochet cluster

into the circle.

Pull the circle tight and fasten off, and

I've got a small triangle. For the body using my main colour, my light gray, I

make a magic loop and work three chain and fourteen double crochet into my circle.

Pull the circle tight, and slip stitch into the third chain. For row two I

start with three chain and work one double crochet in the same place as the

chain, and then I work two double crochet into each stitch around. So I'll work row

two and I'll be back. At the end of the row I join with a slip stitch into the

third chain. For row three I work three chain and one double crochet in the same

place as the chain, and then I work one double crochet into each of the next two

stitches,

and two double crochet into the following stitch all the way around. So

that was one double crochet into each of the next two stitches and two double

crochet into the following stitch, all the way around. So I'll work this row and

I'll be back. At the end of the row I join with a slip stitch in the third

chain. For row four I work three chain and work one double crochet into each of the

next seven stitches,

and I work three chain, and turn. For row five I work a joined double crochet over the

first two stitches, one double crochet into each stitch to the last two,

and a joined double crochet over the last two stitches, and then I work three chain,

and turn, and I work a joined double crochet over the first two stitches, one

double crochet in the next stitch, and then a joined double crochet over the last

two stitches, and that's the body. I'm going to do a neatening row now. So I

start with one chain and work a single crochet down this side until I get to

the stitch before the join, this stitch out here.

Now I'm going to work a half double crochet cluster into the last stitch of

this neck part, the joining stitch, and the first stitch of around the body. So a

half double crochet cluster into the three stitches, and then I work a single

crochet into each stitch around the body. That just makes it smooth, a smooth join. So

I'll continue around the body and I'll do another half double crochet cluster

in the three stitches here, and then just continue around single crochet and join.

So I'll finish that and I'll be back and we'll work the pouch. And there's the

body done. For the pouch I start with a magic loop. I'm still using my main colour,

my light gray, and I work three chain and seven double crochet into the circle.

I pull the circle tight but I don't join. For row two I start with three chain and

turn and I work a double crochet in the same place as the chain, and two double

crochet into each stitch across. Sorry about that dog, I'm not really sure where

he lives he's somewhere out the back he must be a pretty big dog.

He barks all day.

And then I work one double crochet into the top of the three chain. For row three I

start with three chain and work one double crochet in the same place as the

chain, and then one double crochet into each of the next two stitches, and two

double crochet in the next stitch, and I repeat that across. One double crochet

into each of the next two stitches, and

two double crochet in the following stitch,

and then work a double crochet in the top of the three chain.

Now we're going to work a neatening row. We work one chain and turn, and we're going

to go round the bottom first, around the half circle,

and then right round the half circle and then across the top. So I'll do that and

I'll meet you at the end of the row. And there's the pouch done. Next I join it to

the body. I just position it evenly across the

bottom. I pin it because with my bad hands they're not strong enough to hold

it still and it moves while I'm crocheting. So that looks about the right

place. Now I do a single crochet through the two layers, just into the back loop

of the single crochet around, and then I put my hook into the back loop of both

and work a single crochet,

and I just work all the way around. I've got quite a nice looking edge around.

I'll just take the pin out now,

and then fasten off.

And there's a little pouch for the joey to go in. Now I'll start on the legs now.

They're worked the same until the neatening row, and then one's turned over so that

they face the opposite direction. I start with twelve chain.

I miss the first chain, and I work one single crochet into each stitch to the

end.

For row two I work one chain and turn, and I work one single crochet into each of the

next six stitches.

For row three I work one chain and turn, I work two single crochet in the

first stitch,

and one single crochet into each stitch to the end.

For row four I work one chain and turn, and I work one single crochet into each stitch

to the end.

For row five I work one chain and turn. I work two single crochet in the first

stitch, and one single crochet into each stitch to the end.

For row six I work one chain and turn, and I work one single crochet into each stitch

to the end.

For row seven I work one chain and turn, and work two single crochet in the first stitch,

one single crochet into each stitch to the last two stitches, and I work a

joined single crochet over the last two stitches. For row eight I work one

chain and turn, and I work a joined single crochet over the first two

stitches, one single crochet into each stitch to the last two stitches,

and a joined single crochet over the last two stitches.

For row nine I work one chain and turn, work a joined single crochet over the first two

stitches, one single crochet into each stitch to the last two stitches and then

a joined single crochet over the last two stitches, and that's the leg done. I'm

going to do a neatening row working one single crochet into each stitch. So I

start with one chain and I'll work one single crochet into each stitch around,

and then when I get to the top I'll do another two joined single crochet over the

stitches, just to bring it in a little bit more. So I'll work around to here and

I'll be back. Now I've neatened around the leg and I'm

now to the top. At the top I work a joined single crochet over the

first two stitches and then a joined single crochet over the next two

stitches, and slip stitch into the first chain, and fasten off, and that's the

first leg done. Now I've worked another leg up to the end of the ninth row. So

for this one I work one chain, and turn and I work a joined single crochet over

the first two stitches, a joined single crochet over the next two stitches, and

then I work single crochets all the way around, and that way this leg points in

the opposite direction. So I'll finish that one and I'll be back and we'll work

the tail. For the tail I start with twenty-two chain.

I miss the first two chain and work a half double crochet into each of the

next three chain,

and then I work a joined half double crochet over the following two chain,

a half double crochet into each of the next four stitches,

a joined double crochet over the next two,

one double crochet into each of the next three stitches,

and then a treble into each of the remaining stitches,

and that's the tail. I'm going to do a neatening row. I'm going to work one slip

stitch into each stitch around. I just don't want it to be too thick so I won't

work a single crochet.

Just like that, so I'll continue around and then I'll meet you at the end, and

there's the tail done, I'll fasten off.

For the joey I'm using a slightly darker gray and I'll start with the head. I

start with a magic loop and three chain,

and work fourteen double crochet into the circle.

I pull the circle tight,

and slip stitch in the third chain, and fasten off.

I'll just see if I can pull this in a bit tighter. I'll try later. For the ears I just join

anywhere with my white,

and work two chain, and then two half double crochet in the same place as the

chain. For row two I work two chain and turn, and I work a joined half double crochet

over the two stitches, and fasten off.

For the second ear I missed three, and join in the next stitch, and it's worked

the same. Two chain and two half double crochet in the same place, and then two

chain and turn, and a joined half double crochet over both stitches, and fasten

off.

Now I'll just weave in my ends and then I'll do the little row for the outer ear.

For around the ears of the joey, we attach at the tip of the first ear,

and work one single crochet into each stitch down the ear,

slip stitch into the head and then slip stitch across to the second ear, and then

work a single crochet into each stitch up to the tip of the ear,

and fasten off,

and that's the joey's head and ears. For the body we start with a magic loop,

and work three chain and fourteen double crochet into the circle.

You pull the circle tight

and slip stitch into the third chain. For row two we start with three chain and work

one double crochet in the same place as the chain, and then two double crochet

into each stitch around till we've got four stitches left.

Now I've got four stitches left I'm going to do a treble cluster over the

four stitches working two treble into each stitch. So I leave the last loop on

the hook every time, and two treble into each stitch.

Now when I get to the last treble, I start it, take off the first loop and then I slip

stitch into the chain, and then take off the next two, and then yarn around, and

through all the loops, and fasten off.

And I'll need to pull it in tighter, I'm having trouble getting them tight, and that just

gives a bit of a neck to put the joey's head on to. Now I'll make another set of

eyes, and fasten off my endings, and I'll be back and we'll put her together. Now

here's all my pieces except for the arms. Once I've attached the head

I'll crochet on my arms. The first thing I'll do is attach the nose. It

just covers the center circle and points down. Then i'll embroider in a mouth.

I'll also embroider in a mouth and nose on the joey and I'll put the white dots

on the black inner eyes. Next I'll attach the black parts to the white part of the

eyes, and I've got these tiny little seed beads. So I'll attach two for eyes for

the joey. I just put a little knot in the end of my black cotton and thread it

through and attach it at the back. Now I'll attach the eyes to the head of the

kangaroo, just in there, and I think I'll put eyelashes on this time, and I'll

attach the joey to the body. I just attach it with a few stitches,

just around there, so that the head can come out and fit into the pouch like

that, go over the top. So above the nose

just about there I'll attach it with about five stitches along the top.

Now there's the joey done. Next I'll attach the head to the body and I'll

attach the legs just in under there, on each side, like that. And there's the head

and the legs onto the body. Next I'll do the arms. On the kangaroos right side I

start one stitch down from the head. I work two chain, one half double crochet in

the same place as the chain and one half double crochet into the next stitch. Then

I work two chain and turn. Rows two, three, and four are worked the same. Two chain and then

a half double crochet into each stitch.

For row five I work two chain and turn and I work a joined half double crochet over

the two stitches, and fasten off, and that's the first arm done. For the

kangaroos left arm I start three stitches down from the head, join my cotton, work

two chain and work one half double crochet in the same place as the chain,

and one half double crochet in the next stitch. For rows two to four, they're worked

the same. I work two chain and turn, and work one half double crochet into each

of the two stitches.

For row five I work two chain and turn, and I work a joined half double crochet

over both stitches, and fasten off. Now

the arms could be left out or they could go down towards the joey.

Now I'll weave in my ends and I'll attach the tail in there, and I'll be

back. And there's the kangaroo done. I just slip the joey in the pouch and I

could just push the arms down you could sew the arms down if you'd rather them

down or you could put them out. If you liked my video please like, subscribe, and

Why Echidnas Are Evolutionary Misfits - Duration: 6:37.

[♩INTRO ]

It's pretty well known that Australia is home to some strange animals — everything

from giant spiders to birds that can mimic chainsaws.

And most of them follow familiar patterns in biology… except a tiny order called Monotremata,

with only two subgroups: the echidnas and the platypus.

Monotremes are mammals, so they have mammary glands and milk, they're covered in hair,

and they can heat up their bodies.

But monotremes also lay eggs.

In fact, they have a bunch of weird adaptations, and many scientists think that they branched

off from other mammals, a long long time ago, like 200 million years ago.

So by taking a closer look at echidnas, we can see how these unusual traits work and

why they may have stuck around.

Echidnas, like all monotremes, are missing something most animals rely on to digest food.

They don't have stomachs.

The digestive system is basically a series of flesh bags with different secretions, enzymes,

and bacteria.

It breaks down food, absorbs the nutrients, and gets rid of the waste.

At least 450 million years ago, scientists think that vertebrates were having trouble

getting nutrients out of larger proteins in their diets.

So to cope with these big molecules, they evolved a sack of super corrosive acid and

other digestive enzymes — a stomach.

But, over millions of years, there were some vertebrates that apparently didn't need

the extra help, like monotremes.

Researchers have found that genes that code for stomach acid and enzymes seem to have

mutated to the point of being lost from their genome.

Echidnas mostly eat ants and termites, using long sticky tongues to catch their prey, and

a bony plate in their mouth to grind them up.

And even without stomachs, echidnas seem to be surviving just fine.

Maybe even better than fine, because they live a ridiculously long time.

There are reports of echidnas living up to 50 years in captivity, and over 40 in the

wild.

The platypus, for comparison, maxes out at around 17 years in captivity.

Scientists think this lifespan may be related to how their bodies manage energy.

Even though they can generate heat, monotremes have some of the lowest body temperatures

of any mammal.

Humans sit at a comfortable 37 degrees Celsius, but the echidna only gets up to 32 degrees

and down to 10 while hibernating.

Now, temperature is one variable that fits into the metabolic theory of ecology, a mathematical

model that describes how an organism's metabolic rate relates to things like body mass and

lifespan.

Scientists have found that echidnas have a relatively low basal metabolic rate, even

compared to platypuses.

That means they typically use energy more slowly.

Because echidnas are also relatively small and stay cooler, the metabolic theory of ecology

predicts a longer lifespan.

The thing is though, by some calculations, echidnas live almost 4 times longer than these

predictions say they should.

So researchers think there must be something else going on.

And it's probably related to how their cells defend against damage.

In a study from 2010, echidna skeletal muscle and liver cells were shown to be resistant

to something called lipid peroxidation.

Peroxidation is a chemical process that happens naturally to molecules in cell membranes,

specifically fat molecules with double-bonded carbons.

These lipids are attacked by chemically reactive compounds and break down in a sort of chain

reaction.

And we think this is one of the key parts of aging.

Now, echidnas have a lot of monounsaturated fats in their cell membranes.

And these molecules are less likely to be broken down because they only have one double

bond.

This sort of resistance to aging is unusual but not completely unique.

Animals like naked mole rats and humans have similar cell membranes and live longer lives.

So the weirdest thing about echidnas is probably comes down to their reproduction.

Males flock to females, often in 'mating trains' of 6 or more echidnas hoping to

sow their wild oats.

They build the females a trench and then fight, trying to push each other out.

And eventually, one pair mates.

Every female actually has two reproductive tracts branching off a single opening.

And every male has a four-pronged penis.

And, it turns out, only two of the penis heads are active during one mating session.

Which I guess that makes sense — one sperm-cannon per reproductive tract.

One paper suggested that this is because of competition.

Basically, the first male who mates with a female wants to beat out other sperm that

might be deposited later.

But we aren't exactly sure why the four prongs exist, if they only use two at a time.

It might also be competition-related.

They could use two different pools of sperm, or cut down on the refractory time between

mating sessions, because the other half of their penis is ready to go.

Researchers have even compared this kind of half-activation to the the two hemipenes of

lizards and snakes, which are used one at a time.

After an egg is fertilized, it grows inside the female until it's about 2 centimeters

across.

Then, the soft-shelled egg gets laid into a pouch, which is kind of similar to both

modern reptiles and marsupials.

After about 10 days the baby, called a puggle, hatches.

It latches on to a mammary gland on the echidna's belly to feed, because echidnas don't have

nipples.

After about three months, it crawls out into the world.

So we're not entirely sure how monotremes fit into the evolutionary transitions between

laying eggs and giving birth to live young.

And since echidnas also have a long life and weird digestive systems, it seems like they

just sort of pulled from a grab-bag of adaptations.

The journey of evolution keeps finding ways to surprise us.

Here at SciShow, we would like to take you on a journey, too... a long-overdue journey.

Let's start here: our current website, scishow.com.

It's not a great website, but it works…functionally at least.

It was hand coded a few years ago using a combination of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript,

and the problem is that it's a huge pain to update regularly.

Like, SciShow Psych isn't mentioned anywhere on this page, the About page is missing half

our production staff.

So, the next few weeks, we are going to show you our progress changing scishow.com into

a fancy new website that is much easier to update, using Squarespace.

To be clear, it will take us way less time than than a few weeks, we are just going to

spread out showing of it to you.

Squarespace is known for being user-friendly, and as some of you may know, I'm a pretty

Frank Ocean Drops a Fire New Cover - Duration: 1:34.

What's up guys, Frazier here for Complex News.

As he's known to do, Frank Ocean decided to drop a new song out of nowhere.

"Moon River"—a cover of the 1961 Audrey Hepburn classic from Breakfast at Tiffany's—popped

up online shortly after Valentine's Day ended in the wee hours of Thursday morning.

Frank captioned the post "in the late nite" on his Tumblr page.

Ocean's ethereal "Moon River" rework features less Hepburn and more melancholy guitar strums

along with Ocean's angelic voice and harmonies.

Moon River is Ocean's first release of 2018.

Now, it falls in line with the way Frank spent 2017, air-dropping fire whenever and wherever

he wanted.

One could assume that at the very least, that's how he's gonna move throughout 2018, dropping

music on tumblr, apple, Blonded Radio or whatever.

BUT, don't forget, there's still hope that we get an actual tangible Frank Ocean

project this year too.

To recap, an old Frank Ocean Tweet expressed that he wanted to make 5 albums by the time

was 30.

If you count Nostalgia, Ultra as an album then most would say Frank fell one short of

his goal.

But Frank took to Tumblr late last year and said "Well I made the album before 30.

I just ain't put that bitch out."

So, will he?

There's absolutely no reason to take Moon River as a suggestion that he's ready to

drop another project, but hey, it's February.

The year is still young enough for us to project a lot of impossible wishes onto it.

We may very well get that fifth album at 2am after a Blonded Radio episode.

Fingers crossed, until then keep Moon River on repeat and my personal fave of Frank['s

2017 releases, "Provider."

That's the news for now, for all things Frank Ocean subscribe to Complex on YouTUbe.

Bill: Hey I'm Bill and I'm here with Jamie McMurray and we're here with the new

GEARWRENCH race car NASCAR we're showing the new GEARWRENCH logo and colors

we've got molten orange and black. Jamie: I think it looks fast! Bill: Well that's good that's

good these new colors are going to be on the

new 2018 race car that Jamie's running for us the number one. Jamie you're running a Camaro next

year right yep what's gonna be the difference between the Camaro and the

Chevrolet SS. Jamie: I mean we don't really know yet so there's been a lot of development

that went into building the Camaro and from a race team's perspective you hope

that they have made that car better you don't really notice how you getting on

the track but we'll do some the testing probably in early January and figure out

kind of where we're gonna be at so yeah some I hope it's better we have now.

Bill: Do use a lot of GEARWRENCH tools when you build this car. Jamie: We use a significant amount

of GEARWRENCH tools. It was actually interesting I told the story last year

that when the partnership came along that some of the guys that were on the

the one car team actually hoping their tool boxes up and we're already using

the most prior to that so yeah it's been it's been awesome awesome partnership

I had a great year 2017 with the GEARWRENCH car and looking forward to more.

Bill: We're looking forward to a real strong year in 2018. We've got this new
