His name was Gon.
One day, a young man named Hyoju was setting a net to catch fish in the river.
Gon saw something shining in the net in the river.
"Eels! I see eels in the net!"
He became impatient, feeling a bit mischievous.
When Hyoju turned back, Gon released all of the eels Hyoju had caught.
Gon ran away as fast as he could.
"Hyoju will catch me up!"
However, he did not chase him.
Instead he was sobbing.
"They were eels for my sick mother.
I wanted to let her eat something good to make her strong" said Hyoju.
Hearing Hyoju sobbing over her sick mother, Gon felt very bad.
He always enjoyed doing mischief, but that day, he did not feel happy at all.
In time, Gon got the news that Hyoju's mother died.
"Poor Hyoju, he is all alone, just like me..." said Gon.
His heart ached so much for Hyoju and his mother.
"His mother might have wished she could eat an eel...
