Mixing colors is easy:
in principle, all colors are based on red, yellow and blue - the primary colors. For my painting, it is enough for me to know which color comes out when mixing two colors.
For this I use my three-finger method: I press my thumb, index finger and middle finger to a triangle on the table and decide today,
that the thumb is red, the index finger blue and the middle finger yellow. I just remember that for a moment (tomorrow it can be forgotten again :-)
Now I think: if I mix red and blue, then there results purple between thumb and index finger.
if I mix index finger and middle finger - that means blue and yellow - so I have green.
There is an orange point between the thumb and middle finger because I mixed red with yellow.
OK ? Now I have six colors and that should be enough for me.
If I look at the thumb, it is exactly opposite green. Oops.
So red and green are in a relation to each other - there's nothing farer away from red than green. This is called complementary colors.
The same game can be done with the other two fingers: It is orange opposite the blue index finger.
On the other side of the yellow middle finger I see violet.
I have painted this now on the paper. Later, I just push the three fingers on the table and imagine the colors.
My proposition: Just make a swab of color from the tubes red, yellow, blue and arrange them in a triangle.
Mix two adjacent colors. Now you see what new color results. Enough of theory - in the next part I'll show colors in practice.
