President Moon set to begin 9-day trip to Europe in Paris - Duration: 1:52.

We start with President Moon Jae-in's multi-nation tour of Europe.

The South Korean leader and his delegation took off for Paris about an hour ago.

Front and center of President Moon's agenda is shoring up support for Seoul's efforts

to forge lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula.

Our Shin Se-min reports.

With the mission of bringing European nations up to speed on his administration's denuclearization

drive on the Korean Peninsula, President Moon Jae-in is en route to Paris -- his first stop

on a five-nation trip to the region.

During his four-day state visit in the French capital, the president's schedule includes

a sit down with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, a cultural event with Koreans living

in the city as well as meet some local Hallyu enthusiasts-- where the

record-breaking K-pop boyband BTS will be performing.

From October 16th, the President will be in Rome, holding summits

with the Italian president and prime minister-- then a highly awaited sit-down with Pope Francis,

where they will discuss efforts to bring lasting peace to the Korean Peninsula and denuclearize

the North.

President Moon will also pass the Pope an invitation to Pyeongyang from North Korean

leader Kim Jong-un-- as well as take part in a special "Mass for Peace" for the divided

peninsula.

The South Korean leader will then travel to Brussels for the Asia-Europe Meeting, ASEM,...

and hold a bilateral summit with the president of the European Council.

His final stop is Denmark, where the president will speak on the global coalition on sustainable

development at the P4G Copenhagen Summit.

President Moon hopes his 5-nation, 9-day trip to Europe builds on the already strong level

of support from his EU counterparts for the complete and final denuclearization of the

Korean Peninsula.

Uruguay 2-1 in a friendly match on Friday evening at Seoul World Cup Stadium.

South Korea's opener came 21 minutes into the second half.

Star striker Son Heung-min missed his penalty kick, but Hwang Ui-jo tapped in the rebound.

Uruguay equalized a few minutes later, but midfielder Jung Woo-young scored the winning

goal from a corner kick in the 79th minute.

The win is even more meaningful as it's South Korea's first ever win over the South American

nation.

Uruguay are also fifth in the FIFA world rankings,... around 50 spots ahead of South Korea.

The win means Bento is undefeated in his first three games

in charge.

U.S. markets close higher Friday after worst week since March - Duration: 0:49.

In other news,...

U.S. stocks rebounded slightly on Friday after a rough week on Wall Street,... but action

was still volatile.

After tumbling more than a thousand points over the previous 2 sessions,... the Dow Jones

Industrial Average added 287 points, or slightly over 1-point-1 percent, to close the week

at 25-thousand-339.

The S&P 500 jumped 1-point-4 percent to 2-thousand-767, ending a 6-day losing streak.

The Nasdaq added over 2 percent.

Despite the strong gains on Friday, Wall Street had its worst weekly performance since March.

Analysts say the jitters that gripped the market due to President Trump's criticism

of the Federal Reserve seem to have subsided.

Japan complains about South Korea's hoisting of ancient naval flag during fleet review - Duration: 0:57.

Japan has expressed regret South Korea hoisted a flag that represents Korea's ancient naval

forces at this week's 2018 Jeju International Fleet Review.

Japanese broadcaster NHK reported Friday that Tokyo's foreign ministry complained to South

Korea over its hoisting of 'Sujagi', a flag that represents Korea's greatest commander,

Yi Sun-shin, who fought successful battles against Japan in the 16th century.

Japan said South Korea told them the participating countries could only hoist their national

flags and the host country's flag, Taegeukgi.

Thus, Tokyo says the hoisting of the Sujagi flag contradicts what Seoul had told them.

Seoul had asked Japan not to hoist the Rising Sun flag, which is viewed as an emblem of

Japan's wartime aggression and imperialism.

Japan, refusing to not hoist the flag, ended up not participating in the event.
