Waching daily Oct 19 2018

Hi everyone. I'm rincey and this is rincey reads. Today is going to be

another chill Friday reads video. Will I be doing only Friday reads from now on?

It's very possible because the way reading has been going lately.

So yeah, I wanted to make a video this week. I still haven't read a whole lot. So I

don't really want to do like a September wrap-up part one just yet. I'll probably

just have one wrap-up for this month. September wrap-up. We're in October.

So yeah, I thought I would just do another Friday reads and update you guys on life

and what's going on with my reading after last week's update. And also, just

to start things off, thanks so much to everyone who left really kind and really

supportive messages on that video as well as various like Instagram posts and

things like that. I appreciate it so, so much, you guys. And people have even like

tweeted at me. One girl said she was like woke up thinking about me and my reading

slump and like tweeted that like tagged me in it and I thought that was like the

kindest thing someone has said. So yes, just thank you so much. It really does

mean a lot to me and I really do appreciate it. So I finished the cruel

prince. I think I finished it Friday night. And I liked it. I didn't love it.

I probably will continue on with the series because I really like the stuff

that's happening in the book. Like I like the world-building and I like the more

adventure sides of it. But all of the romance stuff I found to be so

predictable. I don't want to go into spoilers. But like sort of the things

that happen towards the end of the book romantically I 1000% saw coming from

like page one. And even like some of the reveals that they have with those

characters, I was just like, this is so obvious. I don't know if this is

considered spoilery or not. I don't think it is. But it has like a very Pride and

Prejudice template to it. You could definitely like plug in certain cruel

prince characters for certain Pride and Prejudice characters. And not that it

like fits perfectly. But I feel like that's the reason why I was able to see

everything fall into place the way that it did. Even with the way

other characters came together and stuff like that outside of like the main characters,

I was just like, yeah, I saw that coming. So that was like the main downfall for

me. So anytime it was like focused on those plot lines, I stopped caring quite

as much. There was a point towards the like 75% mark

where I could feel my interest waning again. But at that point, I saw on my

Kindle that I had like an hour to an hour and a half left in the book or

something along those lines. And so I just like pushed through to the end. Or I

think at that point I had like a half an hour left or something a lot of those

lines. So yeah, I just like push through on Friday night, and I was like, okay, I

finished a book. Praise the Lord. And then after that point I didn't end up

reading an absolutely remarkable thing. The idea of like pushing myself to try

to read a book in a weekend is just like a thing that also felt way too

stressful at this point in time. So I decided to abandon that. And if you

follow me on Instagram, you may see me post about I got like ebook versions of

a bunch of different books that I already own in an attempt to read things

on my Kindle because that seems to be what my brain wants at the moment. And

also what my body wants cause I don't have any interest in holding books right now.

But I also want to like reduce my physical TBR. So yeah, I got ebook

versions of like three different books from the library. I tried two of them,

weren't working for me. And so then I switch things up completely and I found

out that I was approved for the new Sujata Massey mystery. This one is called

the Satapur Moonstone. And this one doesn't come out until January. But I was

very excited by this and I decided to just like give this one a try. And this

is like super working for me. Like I haven't felt this happy reading a book

in maybe a month, maybe like three weeks. Something along those lines. So yes, that

is the book I'm currently reading. I'm not like rushing through that one. It's

an e-book arc. And so one of the things with that is like the formatting is a

little bit weird sometimes with those. And so like reading that has been a

little bit of a slower experience just because again it's not like formatted

perfectly for the Kindle. Another thing is that the chapter breaks aren't marked

properly. So the Kindle can to like pick up the chapter breaks and like properly

estimate like time left in a chapter and things like that. And typically that

would bother me, but for some reason it's not with this book. I think it's because

like I'm so into it that I'm okay with not knowing exactly how much time I have left

in the chapter. But what is is bothering me is that for whatever reason my Kindle is

not properly estimating how long it's gonna take me to finish the book, which

is a thing I want to pay attention to. I'm currently around 20 percent of the

way through this book and it's telling me I only have like an hour and a half

left of reading time, which is not accurate.

It started off saying I was at like seven or eight hours of reading time to

finish the whole book, which makes sense. And then as I was going along it-- there

was like one point where it dropped significantly. It went from like seven

and-- seven hours and some minutes to like three hours and some minutes. And then I

turned a couple of more pages on my Kindle and then it dropped to like less

than two hours. And I was like, okay something is like glitching here. And

I've been hoping that as I had continued reading it would like properly update

itself. But it hasn't been. It's been sitting at like an hour and a half to an

hour and 20 minutes for a while. And like I've been spending more than like a half

an hour reading. So yeah, I don't know why it's doing that. Maybe I just need to

restart my Kindle. If you've ever had that problem before, let me know. So yeah,

that is the book I am currently focusing on. And again, I'm not rushing through it.

What I am finding is that one, the writing in these books is like really

comforting. Like these aren't cozy mysteries but these also aren't like

super violent or like thrillers or suspense books or anything like that.

Like they are kind of on that like slightly deeper side of a cozy mystery.

So I think that's really what my brain is gravitating toward. So I think I might

continue on down that path. I'm thinking that after I finish this book, maybe I'll

pick up some Agatha Christie's or something along those lines that have

like some meat to it and something, you know, interesting, a good puzzle, but

they're not like super straining on my brain, I suppose is the best way to

describe it. But yeah, I still need to like read my actual books. So we'll figure

it out. I'm hoping that like this process of me like tiptoeing back into reading

will get me back to where I was. I'm looking at this situation as like a "walk

before I run" scenario. So right now I am just rehabbing my brain into reading

again. So yes. So yeah, that's all of the updates that I have. I haven't even been

updating my Goodreads. I've been bad about that. But it's mostly because I

haven't had anything to update on Goodreads for a while. But you can always

follow me on Goodreads if you're interested in seeing sort of like what

I'm finishing when I'm finishing it. I don't update my like currently reading

status anymore because again that stressed me out a

little bit. So I've only been putting in books after I finished reading them.

So if you are interested to see before I make another one of these videos whether

or not I finish any books, you can try to follow me on Goodreads and I will try to

be better about actually updating it when I finish books. So yeah, leave a

comment down below letting me know, again, how your reading is going, if it's gotten

better. A lot of you guys were commiserating with me in the last video,

which I always appreciate. Or you can let me know like what you're planning on

reading this weekend, what's been working for you, what have you been in the mood

for-- What? I don't know. It's time for me to end this video. So yeah, that's all I

have for now and thanks for watching.

:V

Can you play drum?

i only can Tatalu (hiting some flat things)

or Mouth Drum like..

Then.. the..

Death Metal (LOL it wasn't death metal i think)

no i haven't tried playing a drum

i don\t have much interest to play drum

But if we practice, nothing's impossible right?

Why you play guitar so good? Please give me the tips

What should we learn to be able to play guitar like you, Mel?

It's a very frequent question

while what i did just simply play, nothing special x)

The tips, you can watch my previous video

i'll put the card to the video here so you can just simply click it and you'll found the answer

Sis, what string do you use and what about the size?

i use elixir 0,9 on Rockwell

For the Glaive

I forgot if it's 0,11 or 0,10

Between them

First song you learn on guitar and with what guitar?

Yes, i've answered the same question before

You don't know?

You can check the video

which i put the card here

i'll also put the link on the description so you can simply click it and watch the video

But for the detail, i'll explain it now

The guitar is an acoustic

let's say Yamaha

a fake one

i bought it from my bro's friend for Rp 50.000 ($3,30)

when i was in junior high school

before that, i only play guitar when my bro borrow his friend's guitar to our home

then i borrow it from him

that's it

then, in the 2 or 3rd grade i bought that fake yamaha acoustic

i learned some slow song at first

Peterpan, RHCP, Last Child,

Alone at last and some indie bands

then Escape the fate, Asking Alexandria,

with an acoustic

i forgot the rest

ahh also Eyes Set to Kill

Bad thing that happen when doing a performance?

my pedal effect suddenly died, the not suitable sound engineer,

and sometimes my mind went blank

does your finger got some calluses?

Ohh, i never..

...i never missed it, brother (always calluses)

Syn or Zacky?

when i was kid i adore Zacky alot

because he looks like my crush

but now i like Syn more

besides Metal genre, what else do you like?

Folk, Gothic, Celtic, Screamo, J-pop,

Ambient..

there's alot

actually, i'm fine with another genres, but

i didn't listen to them alot

why does your nickname was MelSickScreamoAnnie?

must be sound awkward? x)

yeah, i choosed it when i was kid

"Sick" word which i use means "cool"

not means "unhealthy"

when i was kid, screamo was a hit

as i told you before, i like screamo

because i like it, i put it on my nick name

"Mel a cool screamo annie"

so there's "a cool screamo" inside Mel Annie (Meliani) itself x)

lol what x)

awkward

when will you get married?

ahh, mariage

i will get married

if i got proposed (and i accept it ofc)

if not, then no marriage ._.

when will you cover Babymetal again?

Ugh, Political Comedy is the Worst - Duration: 4:15.

- Okay, and our last announcement

before the writer's meeting,

we have a fire drill tomorrow.

- Yes.

- Which also means in in addition to the

air drill, water drill, and earth drill we've already done,

we'll have all the drills!

- [Bearded Man] Hey guys!

Knock knock knock.

Just wanted to stop by and say

we'd love to get some more political comedy

on this site - (group groans)

- Just...

- Oh come on!

- No!

- [Man] Why?! - Political comedy?

Are you kidding me?

- Who wants political comedy?

It's just a bunch of socialists

trying to shove their progressive agendas down our throats.

- We hate this agenda shoving shove.

- Leave our agendas unshoved!

- Yeah! - Unshoved!

- [Man With Glasses] I'll tell you

why their making us do more political comedy,

which we hate.

'cause the Mid-Terms.

- What?

- Mid-Terms?

- Mid-Terms?

- [Man With Glasses] Yeah, the Mid-Term Elections

on Tuesday, November 6th.

- Tuesday, November 6th?

- Yes, they're having Mid-Term Elections

on the first Tuesday of November.

Tuesday, November 6th.

- When?

- Tuesday, November 6th.

- What's happening Tuesday, November 6th?

- The Mid-Term Elections where 36 of America's 50 Governors,

87 of America's 99 state legislators,

35 of America's 100 senators,

and all 435 of America's congress people up for election.

- Ugh, god! And we have to write comedy about that?

- Impossible - (man groans)

- Oh! What about this for a comedy pitch!

We set it up by talking about how boring politics are.

Right? (group agrees)

- But then, BOOM! We hit them with the punchline,

which is that due to Gerrymandering, voter suppression,

and the wide-spread purging of voter roles,

we are going to need an overwhelming voter turnout

just to have a chance to flip the house.

- And then someone gets hit in the nards!

(imitates spring reverberating)

(group cheering)

- Okay, so here's an idea:

What about something with graphics?

People love visual comedy these days.

It could be like the states where early voting

is allowed at your polling place.

- Or a graphic that tells you

how to look up your polling place.

- Or a graphic about states that let you vote by mail.

- Ugh!

- Or a graphic of all the places

that allow same day registration.

- Wait, what's registration?

- Oh, you have to register to vote.

- The Mid-Term Elections are on Tuesday, November 6th?

- I know we all hate political comedy

because it's shoving an agenda,

I think there could be something about

how some places you can register on the same day

and some places you have to register

two weeks in advance.

And some places you have to register

a whole month in advance.

And if you haven't registered,

and you're in one of those places,

you should probably get on it.

- But, wouldn't it be easier to just

register everybody to vote automatically?

- Yes.

That would be extremely easy.

- Ugh! It's useless!

Political comedy is just so dumb and terrible.

Just how it's stupid how people

are being purged from voter roles

at an alarming and historic rate.

Especially people of color!

I wish political comedy was easy, you know?

The way that it's easy to look up

and see online if you too have been purged

from a voter role.

- What if we put someone, like,

in a silly costume with crazy makeup

and we never call it out or address it.

Just goes unmentioned.

And instead, the sketch focuses on, you know,

really exciting candidates.

Like, Beto O'Rourke in Texas,

Stacy Abrams in Georgia,...

(horn honk)

My nards!

- Cool, guinea pigging off of that,

what if we do a sketch I remind people

that they are way more likely to vote

when they go with a buddy.

Like, 'cause they'll plan how and when they're gonna vote.

And that's good because most people work on Tuesdays,

so they need to pre-schedule that.

- Wait, elections aren't considered national holidays?

- They aren't?

- That's crazy!

- That's crazy! - That's crazy!

- That's crazy.

(thunder) - Political comedy!

- My nards

- So, what your saying is I should make a plan

to get to the polls on Election Day,

Tuesday, November 6th?

- Or make a plan for early voting or a mail in ballot.

- And, if you feel like doing more,

you can register two friends who you feel

might need help registering.

- [Man In Plaid] If you're a real superhero,

you can donate your time and your money

to a candidate you're really excited about,

or even drive people to a polling place

if their not able to make it.

Something like that, maybe?

- I think something might be wrong with Brennan's nards.

- Please...somebody...

Tell everyone they have to go vote on November 6th.

- Hi! It's Brennan from College Humor.

All the links we mentioned in the video

are available in the description down here.

If you wanna make sure you're registered to vote,

go check 'em out.

Colette (2018) Review - Bi Costume Drama || NO SPOILERS - Duration: 4:57.

If 2018 has given us anything they've given us hot women in great suits.

Hello, everyone!

Scrivener, here.

The girlfriend and I recently had a date night and saw "Colette."

Please pardon my terrible pronunciation.

"Colette" is a biopic directed by Wash Westmoreland about the French writer Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette,

who wrote a ton of books and stories, the most famous being her novella, "Gigi,"

and she's regarded as one of France's greatest female writers.

It's not normally a movie I'd go out to theaters to see but I was persuaded by the fact that she was

hella

bi.

I'm not exaggerating in the slightest.

And the film does not shy away from depicting her attraction to women

along with her obvious attraction to her husband.

I'm already here for a costume drama, but a BI costume drama?!

And boy howdy, those queer fashions did NOT disappoint.

I do wanna say that the Google synopsis is a tad misleading.

Take the idea that this movie is going to have a huge dramatic battle against a monstrous hetero villain

and throw it away because that's not what this movie is.

"Colette" IS a good film but frankly, it's not a particularly exciting one,

and you're going to enjoy it a lot more if you don't expect to be swept off your feet by an aggressive plot.

It's more of a slow-burn but nonetheless enjoyable look at the evolution of a queer woman's life.

Some of the dialogue gets a li'l clunky.

It wasn't talky in a way that made me feel like it was written from a place of…

disingenuous or clueless,

more just that it probably could've been trimmed down some.

Keira Knightley is the lead and plays, Colette, with Dominic West playing her husband, Willy.

You might know West as Jonathan in the 2014 movie "Pride."

Both of them bring a lot of complexity to these characters that I think would've been

easy to just play as naive-then-hardened survivor and exploitative, unfeeling monster respectively,

but they don't.

And the script doesn't paint them that way either. And I think that made it a lot more interesting

because when you hear the synopsis, you think you know how their marriage and this creative theft

are going to be portrayed: in a morally binary way.

But it's not.

And even still, just because Willy ISN'T a monster, he isn't let off the hook

by Colette for doing the bad things he does.

It's…

complex.

[amused] I'm looking back over my notes, and at one point during the beginning I just wrote,

"Why are men like this?" [snorts]

[sighs] Because they…think they can without consequence, which the film actually addresses.

I think period pieces can sometimes be a little stuffy–

–I don't think that's a radical statement–

but this film isn't. Something I really enjoyed was that the diction wasn't super posh the entire time.

There's casual conversations about things like divorce and queerness that are usually left out

of this genre because a more "conservative" atmosphere better fits into the narrative's agenda.

I thought it did a good job of showing that, The Past™,

is not one big thing that can be quantified as entirely oppressive. There have always been

pockets and communities where marginalized people could exist openly, and "Colette" depicts that reality.

And this is the biggest thing this movie has going for it besides how gorgeous it is.

This is a very queer movie.

Colette is bi, a woman she sleeps with who has a GOD-AWFUL Louisiana accent is bi,

Colette later has a relationship with a person who is genderqueer in some way.

It is worth mentioning that that person is played by a cis woman though, so your mileage may vary

in regards to that, but this character is clearly not meant to be interpreted as just a cis butch lesbian.

There were a couple of times where actors of color were cast for actual people who existed

who probably weren't people of color. The race of those characters doesn't have a direct influence on the plot,

so it's not like they HAVE to be white. I'd love to see more directors take that approach.

Also, thank you for casting Ray Panthaki,

[slightly flustered] he is extremely good looking,

so thank you.

Something else I really liked was that the gender and sexual empowerment stuff felt very natural.

Often these kinds of movies that aim for the "empowerment" genre/message

have very painfully obvious metaphors that feel…

either disingenuous or inauthentic…

or both.

This film did not feel that way.

This movie is a nice reminder that queer people have roots. That we have history beyond tragedy.

No marginalized person is injured or physically harmed in this movie, there are some things thrown

in one scene but nothing happens to them.

There is confusion and sometimes animosity, but there is no punishment or loss to

steel yourself against going in–

which is a REALLY NICE and NOVEL movie-going experience as a queer person.

I think it's a perfect movie to either catch as a matinée or rent for a snuggly-blanket evening.

And it also confirms that this has been a bisexual haircut for at least a century.

Thanks for watching.

This isn't sponsored, it's just a tip from one movie-lover to another:

if you're an AMC Stubs member, they have a deal on Tuesdays where you get $5 tickets!

Considering that's cheaper than matinée for most theaters, it's an awesome deal if you live near an AMC,

and that's how I saw this movie.

Let me know in the comments if you'll be seeing "Colette,"

recommend us as Featured Creators to VidCon if you haven't already via the link in the description below,

and subscribe to the Princess and the Scrivener for more movie reviews!

One of us will see ya real soon.

How to Drape a Medieval Dress Pattern! - Duration: 11:17.

Learn how to make this!

Good morning, I'm Morgan Donner and I recently made a video showing how to

draft a sewing pattern for a late 14th century style dress but what if you are

not a fan of measuring and geometry math- formula type nonsense but you still want

to make a really cute fitted gown like this? Well today I'm gonna show you how

to drape the pattern instead with the help of my friend here Stephanie!

Start out with a potato sack like garment consisting of four rectangles sewn

together at the sides and the shoulders. It's possible to do this kind of fitting

by yourself but it's about 10 million times easier to do it with another

person, plus it's a lot more fun that way you know? I need these shoulder seams to

be a little closer to the neck here but that won't leave enough room for her arm

comfortably so I'll need to let the side seam out a bit and then pin those

shoulder seams a little more. Starting at the sides, I'll slowly pinch in seams

until everything fits really snugly! If I get a lot of excess fabric, then we can

trim that away as needed. We can also trim away some of the neckline too, which

should make this a little bit more comfortable for your person to wear,

(whether the person is you or a friend)

We'll pin the back seam too, particularly focusing on the dip in the small of the

back, that's where the most curve is going to be! These uh.... 'sleeves' need to go!

We'll drape the actual sleeves as a separate piece later on.

Neaten up those side seems a bit real quick.

Now, you can handle the center front in one of two ways: you can either leave it

flat (you know, untouched) and move all of the shaping to the sides, back, shoulders,

and so on, or you can distribute the shaping to the front as well!

Both of those methods have their pros and cons, but I generally lean towards curved

front shaping, it just kind of works better for me. To read a little bit more

about that and to see a super-awesome photo comparison between the two methods,

check out "Le Cotte Simple" (which I'm probably mangling the pronunciation of!)

I'll leave a link down below in the description box.

Right now, we have a really close fit but the goal is to continue tightening,

particularly around the ribcage and under bust, until you've reached a really

super supportive level, kind of like the best sports bra ever! I want to cut away

the neckline since that will alter the support of the garment. It'll lose some

of the structure and anchor that the shoulders provide. So after

double-checking all my seams and retightening as needed, I'll start

marking out the seam lines with a pen. Honestly, I could have gone a little bit

tighter, maybe had her lie down to help facilitate some of the pinning without

gravity sort of working against us, you know? But I didn't and you'll see that I

end up needing to take in the sides a little bit more later.

For right now though, this is good enough to start out. Let's unpin the fabric and start

transferring the pattern to paper. Before we lose track of which piece is

which, do make sure to label the four panels, then finish separating all of the pieces.

I'll cut on the seam marks that we made a moment ago, so that we can trace around

the fabric. If you have a tracing wheel and some fabric carbon paper stuff, you

could just simply trace through the seam marks instead of cutting them off, if

that's more your style. I've put both of the front pieces together one on top of

the other, and you can see that there are slight differences between the two

pieces - they are not perfectly identical! So we'll try and average out the two

lines to get the sort of best average pattern. One way you can do that is by

folding the longer edge over to meet the shorter, which should make the the folded

edge here the approximate halfway point. Or if your fabric will permit, you can

sort of just draw through the material, making little marks on the paper pattern

below it, then just connect the dots, easy peasy!

I have the seam line drawn, but I still need seam allowance since we cut that

away right? Looks like we decided to go with half-inch today. Cut the paper out.

Much thanks to Stephanie for lending an extra hand here!

Sewing goes so much faster when you have help! Repeat that whole thing for

the back left and right pieces. If you have a noticeable difference between

your left and right side of the body then you might consider just leaving the four

pieces as separate patterns, rather than trying to average them out to just two.

Definitely something to consider, on a person by person basis.

Do whatever you think will fit you the best! Both the patterns are drawn and labeled.

I'll true up the seams a little bit and make the side a little longer here to

match the front side, then I can cut that back piece out.

Time to make the first mock-up! I have some tight weave, no-stretch fabric and we'll cut out our

four bodice pieces....

pin the back seam...

pin the side seams....

and then pin the shoulders!

Sew up all of the pinned seams and give it a try on!

Well.... it's uh... it's a

little big, that simply will not do!

So let's go ahead and take out the side seams a smidge.

There we go, much better! To make the sleeves, I'm just gonna start

draping fabric over her arm and pinning it tight.

Cut the excess fabric off after the pins,

and I think I want this sleeve to be a back seamed sleeve,

so I'm gonna rotate it up from under the arm and pin it in place to the shoulder of the tunic.

Remove excess seam allowance as needed.

I asked her to move around and see how the sleeve felt, and we found there was a bit

of tightness around the middle of the forearm,

so we moved the pins a little looser in that area.

Remove the sleeve and once it's flat on the table I can

really easily mark the pin that seam line.

Remove all the pins and now you can

see how we ended up with a beautiful S shaped sleeve head,

which is exactly what we want! Perfect!

I've marked half an inch away from the seam,

(which is our seam allowance for this project)

and trimmed away the excess.

Sew up the sleeve seam and then set the sleeve into the armscye.

Don't forget that the sleeve needs to go to the middle of the back,

not where the side seam is, like a lot of modern garment sleeves.

Try on that sewn sleeve,

and check the fit of the garment, especially around the armscye.

It looks to me like the upper arm could be a little slimmer, while the lower arm is

maybe a bit too tight still.

I'm trying to shove, honestly, way too much sleeve,

into not enough bodice, so we'll need to fix that on the pattern too.

Whenever I make the bicep narrower, that'll help with this process.

The sleeves can be cut to a attractive and pretty length and shape,

We're going for a sort of bell-shaped cuff like you see in various medieval illuminations.

Remove the sleeve, and seam rip it back open so that we can trace the shape on to pattern paper.

We need to make the bicep a little smaller and the forearm a little bigger.

I'm also evening out the sleeve head,

so that it's a little smoother and maybe a tiny bit more shallow.

I like to put little X's on the lines that I don't want to cut later on,

it's something to help me remember which are good lines and which are bad lines.

We're all done with these alterations so let's go ahead and cut out the sleeve pattern.

We made a slight change to the waist size earlier, so we'll need to make sure we've

remembered to transfer that change to the paper pattern as well.

I want to alter where the the sleeve seam starts, so I'll tape the front and back pieces together

at the shoulder. (Although, if I had been paying attention, I would have taped the

actual shoulder seams together, instead of including the seam allowance, but whatever.)

Anyways I'm cutting away the front of the armscye and transferring

that piece to the corresponding spot on the sleeve itself, because I don't

actually want to lose any length or size in this area,

I just want to sort of shift where that seam is!

Now my sleeve pattern isn't exactly pretty anymore but it works.

All the changes are done, so let's make a second mock-up!

The truth is, I'm really not a particularly talented pattern Drafter or Draper,

I just make like, a hundred mock-ups, until I like how things fit.

So that's uh... the 'secret to my success'! Just keep trying until things finally work!

The second mock-up is looking pretty good!

I think I'm going to end the video here but in actual practice,

I would suggest at this point to wear the mock

up around the house for several hours and don't just sit around!

Really move in it! Maybe do some laundry, some dancing, or toss on a coat and go do some errands.

Kind of like new shoes, a mock up might feel fine for a few minutes,

but once you've worn it for a few hours you might start noticing where it

pinches or rubs uncomfortably. This process will hopefully alert you to any

changes you might want to make to the pattern before you start cutting into

your actual dress fabric!

Are you going to have a little sewing party of your own

and try draping a medieval-style kirtle pattern?

If you do, show me your mock-ups!!

I would super love to see them! Tag me on instagram @MorganDonner!

And so what if an earthquake happens, grandpa?

Don't bring such bad omens, my child.

You have no idea what an earthquake once did to your dear old grandpa.

But what did it do?

I slept through an earthquake before and didn't even feel it!

I too was asleep when the infamous 1992 Cairo earthquake happened

And your mom was just a bit older than you right now.

And once the earthquake began

, in seconds we were all gathered in the middle of the living room

Me,

your mom

Your uncle

and your grandmother

I took them and we all ran out of the building to the streets

rumble and destruction all around us!

And once everything got quiet

and smoke began surrounding us..

We started to hear them..

Hear who, grandpa?

No one knew exactly what they were

but the people of the neighborhood..

called them "The Criers"

because they sounded like dogs crying.

We could only see their vague shapes among the smoke

and they seemed like dogs too

but their backs seemed hunched

and their necks were thin

with heads on top shaped like a goat's

Every time they got closer to your mom or grandmother,

me and your uncle would throw rocks at them

Not sure where the rocks hit amongst all the smoke

and for every rock we threw two were thrown at us!

And all around us we could hear everyone panicking and screaming!

But once the smoke had cleared

we were in for a shocking surprise.

The entire neighborhood was covered in the blood

of its wounded people

some bleeding from their heads,

some with wounded shoulders

As if we were all throwing the rocks at each other in the smoke all along

And this, my child

is what did this to your poor grandpa

Mom!

the criers are going to eat us

don't let them eat us!

Don't be scared, dear there are no such things at the criers

Your grandpa just likes making up stories to scare you

God only knows

if it's real..

Or fiction.

What A Lipomyleomingicle Back Looks Like | Spina Bifida Awareness Month - Duration: 2:16.

It's Spina Bifida Awareness Month,

and for this month, I'm gonna be talking about

the rarest type of spina bifida:

lipomyelomeningocele.

For this video, I'm gonna show you

what a lipomyelomeningocele back looks like.

Or at least, what my back looks like.

Everyone has different scars on their back,

if they've had surgery from their spina bifida.

And for me, my first surgery was a month after I was born,

and from a month up until I was 10 years old,

my back and my scar looked so different,

I don't have any photos of it, but I remember my scar being

this very thin vertical line

and it was pretty straight,

and just my bump.

My bump when I was born was a very cylinder shape,

but now my bump is just like this little,

I don't know, bump shape.

But when I was 10 years old,

and I have a video talking about it,

the card and the link will be wherever you see it,

but I was attacked,

and I had to have multiple surgeries on my back,

and that changed how my scar looks.

And I want to show you it.

Let's look at it.

So I'm gonna show you my back.

It's been a while since you've seen my back,

but in clothes, you generally can't see it.

You can see the little indention of my bump,

but my scar is pretty much that, and then my bump.

You can see it's pretty ragged, and zig-zagged,

and that's because of the infection I got.

But that's my scar!

So that is what my scar looks like.

I have made a lot of videos in the past

if you've followed my channel,

on how I feel about it,

some days I really love my scar,

and I'm fine with showing it,

and some days I just have a little trouble liking it.

That's what a lipomyelomeningocele back looks like.

If you have lipomyelomeningocele, describe your back.

Or how you feel about your scar.

Whatever you wanna do.

So thank you for watching.

If you like my work and wanna help support me,

you can pledge to my Patreon.

For as little as $1 a month can get you so many rewards,

or you can do a one-time donation to my PayPal.

All of this is optional,

but it really helps me in creating videos,

so go check it out.

And until next time, bye!

Use Dictate in the classroom - Duration: 2:15.

-Use Dictate in the classroom.

Dictate lets you type with your voice

and it's built into apps you already use,

like Microsoft Word.

Use Dictate with students of all levels

to encourage hands-free note taking,

reading fluency, and prewriting activities.

Let's see how.

Make sure your microphone is turned on

and that you're connected to the internet.

Then, open Word.

You'll see the Dictate button in your Home Tab.

Press the button and wait

for the red recording icon to appear.

Dictate will type as you speak.

Pretty cool, huh?

Speak clearly like you would in conversation.

Dictate will use state of the art

speech recognition technology

to fill in punctuation for you.

Or, add punctuation by speaking it out loud

like this exclamation mark.

Neat!

Dictate in action.

Dictate allows students to make connections

between written, spoken, and visual texts in the classroom.

Hands-free typing lets students

freely generate ideas just by speaking.

- [Student] Sharp, pointy, dry, green.

- [Narrator] Later, they'll have these ideas

to reference when they draft a longer piece of writing.

This student is practicing repeated reading,

comparing what he said and Dictate typed

to the original text.

- [Student] That mostly live in Antarctica.

- [Narrator] Dictate also helps older students

build confidence while practicing repeated reading

on their own.

- [Student] It was the age of wisdom.

It was the age of foolishness.

It was the epic--

- [Narrator] You and your students can benefit

from taking notes on the fly,

just start talking to jot down class reminders,

email drafts,

or brilliant writing ideas.

Dictate is built into other apps too,

so your students can type with their voices on many devices.

The keyboard doesn't have

to rule the classroom, not anymore.

Making An Old School Baseball Bat - NO LATHE - Duration: 13:00.

Okay, so before we get started on the video

I want to talk about today's sponsor simply safe now

simply safe provides home security systems that monitor your house

24/7 you can control it from your smartphone or your computer if you remember

It's probably out a month ago. My shop flooded now simply safe has a component to their system that will alert you to any water

Flooding in your home got a little water here. And the sensor. It's got these little metal contact points

I'm sure that's what the text alarms got put on here and see that

goes

So you hear that the system beep trigger that's pretty cool so I know if that thing goes off

Okay, so that's kind of funny that phone call actually ignored was actually simply safe control center calling me because they got a water alert

To their system they'll call me and then I have a list of contacts below that if I don't answer they're gonna start calling those

Contacts and leave a voicemail no one answers. So that's pretty cool that that happened got a chance to kind of figure out that system

And it worked which is awesome. I can monitor it security wise. I have a glass break sensor

I have two motion sensors, and then I have sensors at each door and these two windows

There's sensors on the system also has a smoke detector, which is a huge deal for the shop because obviously there's a lot of finishing

Chemicals that are highly flammable. So thank you to simply say for providing such an awesome security system

Very happy to have it if you're interested in getting one head over to

WWF comm forward slash Andy Rawls. Thanks again is simply safe and let's get started on this baseball bat

I'll start by roughing out a blank on my 93 year old Oliver bandsaw

The blank is about 2.5" x 2.5" square

I've milled the blank now to its final size

I'm using this jig to cut the profile of the bat on my bandsaw

Notice the plywood guide attached the bandsaw table

I'll run my jig along this plywood guide to cut the profile

This technique takes practice but works very well

I rotate the bat and make this cut on all four faces

Now you can start to see the profile of the bat taking shape

With the profile of the bat established I can work it round using my spokeshaves

This process starts by shaping the bat into an octagon

I'm using my wooden spokeshave set for a heavy cut

Now that I've shaped the bat into an octagon its much easier to form it into a cylinder using spokeshaves

I use my flat sole spokeshave for most of the work here

Handle broke!

Now I'm using my spokeshave to shape a slight round over on the end of the bat

Here I'm using a dowel plat to cut a 5/8" tenon on the end of the bat

This is how dowels were made before Home Depot arrived!

The dowel plate can only cut so much at once, so I remove waste and do it in steps

I use my gouge to cut away the waste

I place the dowel plate over hole in my workbench and pound away

With the tenon finished I'm using my handsaw to cut a kerf for a wedge

Now I can glue on the knob using epoxy from Total Boat

The knob gets wedge in place

I cut the wedge off but leave the tenon protruding

The wedge actually causes the tenon to mushroom out above the knob locking it in place

Now I need to cut the knob out, its roughly 2" in diameter

I use my small bandsaw to rough out the shape

Now I can use my disc sander to shape it round

Now I need to round over both edges of the knob

The outside edge is easily done with spokeshaves

The inside edge is a little more challenging

I have to use my rasp to form it

I use some sandpaper to clean up the rasp marks

I finish it with boiled linseed oil

Finally I mark it with my AR brand from Pittsburg Foundrey, link in description

Now its time to try it out...thanks for tuning in!
