Tofino Adventure | Surfing, Sunsets, Beaches + Exploring Vancouver Island - Duration: 13:40.

Hey guys welcome back to another vlog so we're gonna be spending the next few

days in Tofino which is on the west coast of Vancouver Island, I'm very very

excited as it's one of my favourite places in BC, it's such a cool surf town and the

beaches are amazing and it's just one of those like really gorgeous places so

yeah, it should be a really nice few days. We're also gonna be celebrating this

one's birthday! So we just got here, just checked out one of the beaches and it's

just so so gorgeous. So, we're gonna make our way into Tofino now and go get some

lunch and then go check in to the place that we are staying.

I am very full right now but we just had lunch at Shelter,

it's kind of our tradition to go there whenever we come to Tofino, I think every time we've been we've always gone for lunch there

they have really good food, so now we are going to go to the Pacific Sands

which is where we're going to be staying for the next two days, we're gonna pick up some surf boards, get checked in, and then go surfing.

So we've just checked into the Pacific Sands and we're gonna be working with them on a partnership.

We've actually stayed with them before we stayed in one of their beach houses and this is

their new Edgewater Suite. And it's so nice. Let me show you.

Hello, welcome to my Cribs. Matt's got all the surf stuff.

Ok so we've got a dining table, got a full kitchen and then a lovely a living room and then the

Edgewater suite is two bedrooms so this is the second bedroom

got a bit of our stuff in there, and then, oh the bathroom is nice,

and then the master bedroom is lovely also ensuite, and then got the bedroom in

here the artwork here is so gorgeous

they say pretty and then you've got one balcony here from the bedroom

which is gorgeous look at us I've always - ah oh yeah okay I'm gonna get my way

to your own interface and but I'm just first going to show you the star

attraction of this suite it's so cool so this one sleeps up to six people and oh

it's just so nice it's not sitting safe so at the Edgewater suite the two

bedroom one is very special because it has a hot tub and this is the view how

incredible is there seriously like the best view ever

needless to say we're very very excited to stay here look at the size of this

deck massive even got barbecue so it'd be such a good place to come with like a

big group of friends or a big family so yeah I know we are now we're all checked

in we are going to get our wet suits on and go and do some same thing wash I

have got some crazy hair right now oh sorry just been out surfing oh I'm so

tired it's actually really very tiring it is

absolutely gorgeous the sky and the setting is just incredible

unfortunately I'm not the best at surfing I'm trying and I'm persisting

but I'm not the best I'm just taking a little break can we take some pictures

this is so nice so yeah a very very nice it means over

so all ready to go out for some dinner I am very very casual Tofino is not really

a very dressy place I'm a bit annoyed though because I'm having to wear my

kind of like roughing it shoes I somehow managed to stub my toe and basically

like ripped the nail in half and it's very very very painful so these are the

only shoes that don't absolutely kill me although I'm still like hobbling but

yeah we're gonna go into town grab some food but very very tired also very

hungry but it's been such a nice day we served this afternoon and then the

sunset was incredible one of the nicest sunsets I've ever seen it just got

better and better this guy was like amazing so we jumped in the hot tub at

sunset and just showed out for a bit so that's very very nice but yeah I'm

hungry yes let's go get some food I can barely walk so it's been a good

happy birthday

very cool sorry birthday he's already off and gone but we're gonna go and do a

little bit surfing now it's such a nice morning so nice waking up who you'd been

able to just throw in our wet suits go to the beach stay so cool hey we just

come for a walk around the tank into each trail it's pretty rainy and there's

a girl for spacing I get a little bit wet but it's been a really nice day

we started off going for a surf this morning and just show that out and then

we can grab a toe tag Rafina and now so I'm gonna go check out the beach there

that's like and then probably do some more surfing the best Olympic the

original plan was actually to go to Vargas Island today because you can get

wolf to taxi over to a few of the different islands but I kind of like you

didn't it's very rainy and we got drenched but you can do that next time

because apparently it's very nice

we're just finishing up today in the hot tub which is one of my favorite features

of this we is so so gorgeous and just being able to jump in hot tub after a

day out but it's raining and cold and even surfing is just very nice and

smooth

very sad tonight is our last night kind of wish was staying for longer and then

we could have a bit more nice weather maybe but it's just been so beautiful

and so tonight we are gonna go out for a dinner for birthday boy and that's kind

of it really all ready to go out my outfit slightly cuter than last night

and I've managed to get into that's your shoes that are nice but my my voice is

still killing me but it's nice birthday I thought I'd make a little effort um

yeah you go get a couple of drinks I think at the brewery and then go get

some food

so it's Friday morning and we're ready to check out we loved it here so much

suite is just amazing view and the hot tub and it's just been so so good just a

massive thanks to specific knowledge for having us since so nice so yeah we're

all packed up I've got my sexy sexy yellow rain jacket on we've just been

taking a little bit everyday stuff outside and then we're going to go and

check out and we didn't go down to the box and take some more pictures if you

can just very very mainly today so we might not have a lot luck taking content

it's very pretty there are always so many dogs on this beach is so cool we

lucked out the first day we have gorgeous weather and that amazing

amazing sunset the weather has been a little bit crap since but at least we

had that first day but I think in winter time still marching and weather like

this is very very typical up to four you know it's kind of cool because you can

just like wrap up warm saddle up in the house go and do some

surfing go do some snow storm watching and it is really cool but yeah we're

gonna head over to the cooler in a bit and Gary check it out over there and see

what's happening and maybe fingers crossed the brain might love but I don't

know I'm not really that hopeful anyway we're gonna head home late with me

then we've made it to the cooler and it's kinda stopped raining which is good

at least it's not like pouring at the minute and we've got a little bit of

time here before we head back and get the ferry so we're just having a walk

around and I'm the cosign and it's so beautiful here who actually came a few

years ago when we first came to be known and it's basically it's called the wild

Pacific Trail and it just goes all along the coastline and you can just follow

the rocks and it's the most beautiful beautiful walk so if you ever find

yourself in turf you know or you feel it make sure you come down here because

it's so stunning a little bit obviously grey and miserable today but when it's

sunny when it's nice weather it's even more gorgeous and it's just really nice

really raw and rugged and it's just such a beautiful area so yeah we're gonna

spend a little bit of time here we've managed to get an earlier ferry which is

great because we just didn't want to be hanging around until like 8 o'clock

tonight in the rain because we won't have much to do laughs no we're just

gonna kind of chill out again take some pics have war on the coastline it's very

very pretty finally it's done raining I couldn't

have stopped raining

very annoying smelly just going to love at times what Barrios reported to a

little beach with not really the line for the beach in the world and it smells

a little bit like ooh good I've got some lovely hot hair going on right now

very nice yeah we've just got to the ferry terminal in an IMO just waiting

for a ferry back to Vancouver it's been lovely I stay at the Pacific sounds

amazing and I just love to Fino so much it's so nice to get back here and just

kind of explore a few new places and get away hope you enjoy coming along with us

and I will see you in my next video thanks for watching

My Grandma used to give us Bleaching Cream | More Than My Makeup - Duration: 6:21.

I didn't really start using makeup until I was maybe 17, 18.

My mum never really used makeup so I didn't really know what goes where, what's used

for what.

And then when I did start getting into it I still kind of felt bad about it.

I grew up with my brother and we were really close, and I felt like using it would make

me too girly or something around him.

I mean, when I started using it, when I was eighteen or seventeen , I would make it really subtle

and I'd be like, "oh I don't like makeup or whatever".

But yeah, I still don't really wear it that much anyway.

I'm not wearing anything today, but that's just more of a practical thing.

It's never come up in my mind not not be able to go outside without makeup.

Because that's just what I'm doing.

[Lena] You've lived in a couple of countries.

Do you think the way beauty is perceived in places differs?

[Mariam] I definitely think so.

Especially with Pakistan and being in Ireland right now.

It sounds weird, but my grandma used to give us bleaching cream – face whitening cream

which had bleach in it – because being more fair over there is seen as more beautiful.

And then my dad would say put on sunscreen before you go outside, so that you don't

end up looking really dark, because then no one is going to want to marry you.

And then when you come here people are getting fake tans and stuff.

It's very different.

People always want what they can't have.

In the Middle East, in Dubai and in Abu Dhabi, I honestly don't really know, because everyone

was dressed in burkas and the majority of women over there were pretty conservative

and modest, so I don't really know what that was like.

But I'm pretty sure that's also very different!

[Lena] How do you decide what to adopt, or feel like you should?

[Mariam] I moved here when I was twelve, and I was still wearing my hijab until I was seventeen,

and I only stopped doing that because I was like, you know what, I don't actually believe

in this.

But when I came over here, I still had my unibrow as well, so it was a big change!

The school I went to wasn't the nicest school, it was a pretty rough school, and people weren't

very nice to me at the start.

It took a lot of adjusting.

I feel like I still don't really know what kind of beauty standards I want to aspire

to.

I'm still kind of confused where I fit in.

Because sometimes I hang out with people from Pakistan and I'm like, ah I'm too Irish

for you guys, and then I'm with my Irish friends and they're like ah, you're too

foreign for us!

So it's still a work in progress.

It's like wearing completely different traditional clothes at home, to like look pretty for a

party, and if I wore that out to something over here with my Irish friends, they'd

just be like "what the fuck are you wearing".

[Lena] It's like a double life!

[Mariam] It really is a double life honestly.

It's really weird.

[Lena] Have you ever had any comments or pressure to change the way that you look, or to fit

in with a certain group?

[Mariam] Yeah definitely.

My family goes to the mosque a lot.

So if I ever go to pick up my little sister there and I'm dressed like this I get some

weird looks from people, especially because I'm not wearing a headscarf and I'm like

a grown person.

They're like, lol, what is she doing, why is she here, why does she look like that.

Or I feel really uncomfortable wearing traditional clothes and going out into the city because

people would also give me weird looks.

[Lena] How do you deal with it?

[Mariam] It does cause me a lot of stress and anxiety.

I don't really deal with it to be honest.

That's why I'm such an anxious person.

I mean, that's the only honest answer really.

It's like an every day thing really.

I just wish that people wouldn't judge what you're saying or how you're acting based

on how you're dressed.

I don't know.

Especially in the communities I move around in.

Especially in the mosque.

Like my moms friends, they wouldn't give me any respect or credibility because I'm

dressed like this, and they'd be like, "well, she doesn't know what she's talking about,

she's just some outsider."

I really wish they didn't do that.

I tried to convince my Mum that they don't think I'm a legit person because of how

I dress, and she said, "no, no, they're just scared of you".

I think that makes no sense.

This is going to sound weird – but when I go out of the house, I often forget that

I'm darker than most people in Dublin.

I always think, "ah yeah, I basically look white".

And then something will happen to me, and I'll think, "oh, shit, I'm not, that's

why".

Someone will say something or ask me something weird.

And I'll be like, oh.

I forgot.

[Lena] What kind of things do people say?

[Mariam] It's never been anything super offensive or anything like that, but it's

often like, when I meet someone for the first time, they're like "oh, where are you

from," and If say Dublin, and they're Irish, they'll say "really?

You're from Dublin?

You don't look like it."

There's a very set idea of what an Irish person looks like, which is kind of…

I feel like I need to justify myself to them.

I'm like, "I know all your slang words!

I know all your jokes!"

It's mainly stuff like that.

People are always really confused.

They say, 'oh, you're not really Irish, where are you really from?'.

That sort of thing.

I often forget about it.

That's not what's in my head all the time.

I'm not constantly thinking about the color of my skin.

but then people will be staring at me, or someone will say something, and I'll just

think, "oh, I completely forgot that was a thing".

10 Extinct Animals Scientists want to Revive - Duration: 12:37.

Events in history have caused numerous species to go extinct. As advancements in technology

and as research progresses scientists are getting closer to bringing back some of these

long lost creatures. On this episode we'll take a look at the Top 10 extinct animals

scientists want to revive.

Number ten, Mastodon · Also known as Mammut the mastodon was a

type of Mammut proboscidean that lived from 27 million year ago up until 10,000 years

ago. · First named by the French Naturalist Georges

Cuvier, the name Mastodon means 'Nipple Tooth' inspired by the nipple-like protuberance

on the crowns of their molars. · Although Mastodons are often confused with

Mammoths, both these giants belonged to 2 distinct species of the Proboscidean Family.

· Contrary to their modern cousins, Mastodons were much smaller in size and had smaller

foreheads with much shorter ears. The tusks of the male Mastodon could grow to 8 feet

or 2 ½ meters long. - Similar to the mammoths, mastodons had thick

brown fur to protect them from cold temperatures of the Pleistocene period in North America.

Weighing approximately 6 to 8 tons and measuring 15 feet or 4 ½ meters long, mastodons were

quite similar to the modern-day elephants when it came to physique.

· At first it was believed that the last Ice Age might have been the cause for their

extinction, however, researchers have also found trace marks of tuberculosis among the

fossils of these giants, suggesting that humans may have brought the disease to the mastodons

which might have also played a role in their demise.

· Distinguished and well-known Geneticist Professor George Church and his Harvard University

team have been working for the past several years to revive extinct proboscidean species,

by recreating their DNA blueprints. Who knows we might see this giant roaming the grassland

alongside humanity in the coming years.

Number nine, Gastric-Brooding Frog · Sometimes called Platypus Frogs these ground

dweller frogs were indigenous to the Eastern Australia. The Gastric Brooding Frogs genus

was composed of 2 distinct species, both of which are believed to have become extinct

in the early 1980's. · Both species, being the Northern Gastric-Brooding

Frog and Southern Gastric-Brooding Frog, had moist skin with a coating of slimy mucus.

With dark brown skin, both these species had large protruding eyes.

· One of the most distinct features that make this species of frog unique was their

ability to give birth to their offspring's through their mouth. The Female Gastric-Brooding

Frog was believed to swallow her eggs, and turn her stomach into a womb by turning off

the hydrochloric acid production, in order to prevent digesting her off-springs

· A little-known fact is that during the Lazarus Project, Scientists once created a

living embryo of this frog by using the preserved genetic material, However, the cloned embryo

did not survive for long, and died after a few days.

· When it comes to the cause of extinction of these frogs, nothing is certain, however,

a few theories suggest the loss or degradation of habitat and pollution might have been the

prime reason. Parasites and pathogens are also believed to have played a role in their

extinction. · One of the reasons why scientists are interested

in reviving the Gastric-Brooding Frog is for their distinct ability to turn off production

of hydrochloric acid in the stomach wall.

Number eight, Passenger Pigeon · Its name is derived from the French word,

passager, or passing by which reflects the constant migratory habit of this species.

· Also known as the wild pigeon, these birds once represented 25- 40 percent of the bird

population on earth, with their number ranging from 3 - 4 billion during the 1800's.

· Although many attempts were made to save the species, none were ever successful.

· One distinct feature of this bird was that it migrated not only in spring and fall, but

constant migration occurred from season to season.

· It had the body built for prolonged flight, with a small head and neck, an elongated tail

with long pointed wings. · The passenger birds preferred hardwood

forests as their habitats. The species was dependent on huge forestlands for their nesting

needs. These birds traveled and stayed in large flocks which people of those times described

it as seeing a mile wide flock of birds across the sky that lasted for days.

· Deforestation and a massive amount of human hunting were the prime's causes for their

extinction. · In 2012 several projects were launched

to revive and restore this majestic bird. Scientists believe that cloning or de-extinction

of the passenger pigeon is possible by using the genetic materials from numerous skins,

and skeletons of passenger pigeons which are preserved throughout the world.

Number seven, Thylacine · Although the thylacine became extinct quite

recently, evidence of their existence has been found in rock art and engravings which

date back to 10,000 BC · It's sometimes called the Tasmanian tiger

due to the stripes on its lower back. · The last known individual thylacine died

off in 1936 in captivity at the Hobart Zoo in Tasmania.

· The thylacine was considered non-violent to humans due to their shy nature.

· Major causes for their extinction were human hunting and extreme competition with

various small predators. · Several Australian Biologists have found

DNA of the Tasmanian Tiger and attempts to clone them are underway. Renowned Biologists

believe that it is no longer a matter of 'if' rather 'when' the Tasmanian Tiger will

walk among us once again. · In 1986 Thylacine was officially declared

extinct, however, some zoologist still believes that the species survived, because their droppings

have been found. - Recently a team has been searching Tasmania

for the thylacine and insisted they have footage of them on their cameras. They spoke with

a man that claimed to have a face to face encounter with one in 2015. -Apparently a

handful of people who work for the logging industry say they've seen them too but were

too afraid to say anything. So who knows maybe we'll see this species sooner then later.

Number six, Irish Elk · Also known as the Giant Deer, Irish Elks

were known to exist 77000 years ago. · These elk predominantly lived on the Eurasian

Continent. · The Irish Elks was believed to be gigantic

and was approximately two times the size of a full grown human.

· Most well known for their enormous antlers, they would span up to 12 feet from tip to

tip. · The antlers were their prime weapon when

it came to fending off predators or fighting. · A few theories suggest that there were

several reasons for the extinction of these majestic animals. Human hunting for meat and

desire for their antlers played a major role. People of this time would turn them into weapons

and tools. The other factor was likely loss of habitat due to a large number of human

settlements that encroached on their territory. · One theory suggests that Irish elk did

not actually become extinct but rather evolved and decreased in size, resulting in the modern

day deer. · Although Many fossils have been found,

no attempts can be made to revive this animal as all of the fossils belong to males.

Number five, Cuban Macaw · Also known as the Red macaw, this bird

became extinct in the late 19th century. · As the name suggests, the Cuban Macaw was

a bird native to the island of Cuba. · They were relatively smaller in size, measuring

between 40 and 50 cm. · Cuban Macaws were known to nest in large

holes found in trees. These birds preferred large forests as their habitat.

· Researchers believe that palm seeds were the main choice of food for the Cuban Macaw.

· Now what you're really wondering, their ability to imitate speech was believed to

be inferior to their modern day cousins. (Polly want a cracker)

· The massive amount of deforestation might have been the cause of their extinction.

· Hunting might have also played a prime role in their extinction.

Number four, Quagga · The quagga was a subspecies of the modern

day Zebra, that was believed to have existed from the end of the pleistocene period till

modern times. · These horse like mammals were predominantly

indigenous to the South African Plains. · Their name was derived from the strange

sound they made, that sounded similar to "kwa-ha-ha" · Quaggas were approximately 8 and a half

feet long and 4 foot tall or 2.5 meters by 1.2 meters.

· Hunted by the Dutch settlers in the South African Peninsula these creatures didn't

stand much of a chance as they were run to extinction.

· Although many Quaggas were shipped off to various zoo's in Europe, any attempts

to further breed the species were unsuccessful. · The quagga was the first ever extinct species

to have its DNA analyzed. · The most renowned attempt to revive this

animal was called the Quagga Project. Scientists tried to recreate its distinct features by

selectively breeding their close relatives, that being the Burchell's zebras.

Today some selective breeding has resulted in something that looks somewhat similar to

the quagga but really isn't one.

Number three, Moa · Known to be the only bird without wings

and the tallest bird to walk the earth, the moa was predominantly a resident of New Zealand.

· Moas were considered to be most closely related to kiwis and emus but recently it

has been discovered that the south american bird tinamous is the moa's closest cousin.

· Regardless of having no wings, the moa's were massive in size and were simply too heavy

to fly. · Until humans arrived in New Zealand, the

only threat to moa's were the Haast Eagles. · In general moa's were herbivores, and

depended on the vast natural vegetation in New Zealand for food. One distinct but rather

a strange fact was that they would purposely swallow pebbles to help them with their digestion.

· The largest species, 12 in total among the moa was the the dinornis which grew up-to

12 feet or 3.6 meters tall and weighed up to 510 pounds or 231 kg

· Hunting by the Maori people of New Zealand is considered to be the prime cause of their

extinction which happened around 500 years ago.

· Various fossilized muscle tissue of the moa have been found, giving hope for their

revival through modern cloning technology.

Number two, Dodo · The Dodo Birds, were flightless large birds,

with large beaks and small legs. Dodo birds were only predominant on the island of Mauritius.

· These brownish to gray birds were approximately 3 feet 1 meter tall, weighing up to 47 pounds

or 21 kg. · The dodo prefered to nest on the ground

as there were no natural predators to the dodo on Mauritius. They were known to lay

only one egg per year, the chicks were also highly dependant on the mothers for food,

until the age of maturity. · Being unable to fly and having such as

small legs, these birds were easy lunch for sailors passing by. With that said dodos were

very fast runners with those little legs. · Considered to be an omnivore, dodo birds

preferred nuts, seeds, and fruits as the staple of their diet.

· At first hunting for meat was thought to be their cause of extinction, this isn't

the case though due to the fact that their meat was considered distasteful and tough.

· The dodo bird was considered to be a symbol of stupidity in the past, due to the fact

that dodos would approach armed humans without hesitance. This was the prime reason for their

extinction, as sailors who arrived on the island killed off the species down to every

last bird. · The dodo bird became extinct in the mid

to late 1600's with the last sighting on 1662.

Number one, Woolly Mammoth · Everyone knows and loves them the Woolly

Mammoth were so huge that their name has evolved into an adjective to describe something of

massive size. · Known to have existed during the Pleistocene

era, the woolly mammoth was the last species of Mammoths and became extinct approximately

4000 years ago after the last ice age. · They adapted well over time to the cold

environment with their layering of thick brown fur which dramatically helped hold their body

heat. · Their tusks could reach up to approximately

15 feet or 4.5 meters long, which was used a weapon against predators and also to dig

grass patches from thick layers of snow. · In the year 1796, the mammoth was identified

by George Cuvier as an extinct species of elephant.

· The appearance and behavior of the woolly mammoth are the most thoroughly studied species

of prehistoric animals. · It's a known fact that the woolly mammoth

coexisted with the early humans, as they used their large tusks to carve out weapons and

tools. · Degradation of habitat caused the woolly

mammoth's numbers to plummet after the last ice age, a small number of mammoths survived,

but were hunted by early humans for their meat and tusks.

· A few frozen specimens of the woolly mammoth have been found in the Siberian region. That

has inspired researchers to start the de-extinction process for this majestic animal. The most

promising of these is the project led by Harvard University Professor George M. Church, who

believes that we might be seeing the woolly mammoth revived in no more than 10 years.

Top 10 Scary New Orleans Urban Legends - Duration: 8:51.

New Orleans is a city located in the state of Louisiana and it is full of culture and

a rich history.

However, its also a city that is infamous for being dark, mysterious and haunted.

There are legends about evil murders, voodoo spirits and creepy creatures that haunt this

city.

How's it going YouTube?

I'm your host, Landon Dowlatsingh and welcome back to another most amazing video.

If you're a fan of urban legends, be sure to click right over here.

That link will take you to our urban legend playlist so you can scare yourself at your

hearts content.

Alright, enough of all of that, let's jump right into our list of the top 10 scary New

Orleans urban legends.

The Grunch Road Monster digs his teeth in at number 10.

This scary looking creature has been apparently spotted all over New Orleans.

People say that it looks like a goat creature with leather or scaly green skin and sharp

spines.

He has long horns running down his back and he stands at about 3-4 feet high.

The Grunch is very intelligent and he can even open doors, use tools and he has a piercing

scream.

His name was derived from a road that is located in eastern New Orleans.

People who were seen as misfits were forced to live in this area as a way to try to clean

up the city.

Well shortly after, people started to report a bunch of disappearances.

It was believed that this monster was responsible for killing all of these missing people and

a lot of people have even claimed that they've seen the Grunch road monster feasting on animals

and eating out of dumpsters.

La Feu Follet or The Cajun Fairy burns onto our list in at Number 9.

According to the legend, these fairies are souls of dead people who appear as balls of

fire in the swampy areas surrounding New Orleans.

But they can also be extremely evil in order to mislead people.

These balls of light seem harmless but they are really malicious.

They can cause people to wander into the swamps where they eventually drown.

Even to this day, locals still warn people not to follow any fiery balls of light or

they risk the possibility of dying.

Lafitte's Blacksmith shop bar brings us to number 8.

This is a small tavern that is located on the corner of Bourbon and St. Phillip.

It was built in the early 1700s and it is one of the oldest surviving building in New

Orleans.

According to the legend, a French-American pirate robbed ships on the Gulf of Mexico

and he buried his treasure in the building's bricks.

So now, there is a fireplace grate in the downstairs bar and it is rumored to be the

resting place of his fortune.

Some people say that you can see ghostly red eyes staring from the grate and other legends

say that his ghost guards the treasure and he haunted the bar.

Some people have even claimed to see his ghost.

St. Louis Cemetery #1 haunts us in at number 7.

This creepy cemetery is probably the most haunted and historic cemetery in New Orleans.

There are hundreds of ghost stories about this cemetery that date back over 200 years.

But the most infamous ghost that haunts this site is Maire Laveau the Queen of Voodoo.

When she was alive, she was very interested in blending Catholicism with Voodoo in order

to make a new religion.

She practiced black magic and she even taught her daughter how to perform voodoo rituals

and spells.

She died in 1881 but according to the legend, she returns to life once every year on St.

Johns eve to convert people to worship her.

If you disrespect her spirit, it is believed that she will physically punish you.

So, if you want to see if this is only an urban legend, there are tours that will take

you to her grave but do you really want to find out if this is more than just a legend?

I know I wouldn't step foot on her grave.

La Prete House takes us into number 6.

This was the site of one of the most gruesome mass slaying in New Orleans history.

In the late 1830s, a wealthy man from Turkey moved into the mansion but he also brought

in a lot of people to live there with him.

Over the years, the mansion was known for its mysterious parties but one morning, a

neighbor noticed blood trickling from beneath the gates.

Once the police entered the mansion, they would the Turkish man was buried alive in

the yard and all of his servants were mutilated, assaulted and murdered.

To this day, the ghosts of his servants can be found wandering and haunting the home screaming

in terror.

Scaring us in at Number 5 we have a haunted hotel.

Hotel Monteleone was built in 1886 and it was a very luxurious hotel in New Orleans.

Over the years, hotel staff and guests have experienced unexplainable and scary encounters

with the paranormal.

Locked doors would mysterious open and close themselves every night, elevators would stop

on the wrong floor and lead people into dark hallways.

Sometimes you can even see ghostly images of children playing in abandoned hallways.

The legend says that a former employee who died in this hotel still roams the halls and

the spirt of a little boy haunts the halls as well.

I don't know about you guys, but I definitely wouldn't spend one night in this creepy

hotel.

And now in at number 4 we have The LaLaurie Mansion.

This very expensive mansion was situation on Royal Street and it was occupied in 1832

by the LaLaurie family.

Delphine LaLaurie was a very rich and successful woman but she also had a dark and evil side

to her.

It was rumored that she tortured the slaves and servants that lived in her home.

One day, a fire started in the kitchen by one of her servants because they were tired

of being abused.

When the fire was finally put out, the authorities were shocked by what they discovered.

They saw the remains of tortured and chained slaves and their bodies were severely mutilated.

However, Delphine managed to escape and she fled to France but the horrors that happened

in the mansion weren't over.

People still report that they can hear loud screams of the victims whenever someone new

moves in and strange things happen all the time here.

A scary looking werewolf nibbles his way into number 3.

The Rougarou (ROO GA ROO) is an urban legend that parents tell their children in order

to prevent them from misbehaving.

This scary looking creature is believed to be a human that is able to transform into

a werewolf.

One legend says that the creature will hunt down and kill Catholics who do not follow

Lent but According to another legend, the ROO GA ROO causes a lot of mischief in the

streets until someone can kill it.

But just before it dies, it becomes human again and warns its killer not to tell anyone

about his death for one year.

If you don't listen to his instructions, you will become the next ROO GA ROO.

The devil man sinks his teeth in at number 2.

In 1938 a devilish man was believed to roam the streets of Algiers and he loved to harass

couples.

People described him as having long black horns, bright pink ears that were shaped like

stars and he also had huge cartoon eyes.

Although he never killed anyone permanently, he was said to induce temporary deaths onto

his victims.

So, a lot of people who came into contact with the devil man have reported that their

lives flash before their eyes.

They would also be cursed with terrible nightmares long after their encounter with the devil

which could haunt them for the rest of their lives.

The Vampires of New Orleans bite into number 1.

Rumors about vampires living in New Orleans has been going on for years.

However, maybe this next urban legend isn't just a story.

Locals believe that New Orleans is home to a ton of real vampires.

During the 1930s two brothers named John and Wayne Carter were executed for committing

multiple murders.

There was about a dozen bodies that were drained of their blood and they were discovered after

one woman managed to escape from their apartment.

However, even after their death – lots of people reported that they have seen the brothers

roaming the streets, looking for their next victim.

And this is really strange because their bodies have mysteriously disappeared from the family's

funeral vault.

Well there you guys have it…

Why Were Vikings So Much Better At Fighting? - Duration: 8:01.

They are credited with inventing the Western version of the hair comb, and they were the

first Westerners to use skis.

They were the Vikings, and these accomplishments are not what these Norse people are best known

for.

The Vikings captured the attention of the world when they decided to terrorize parts

of Europe and Russia with a series of raids that occurred between the 8th and 11th centuries.

This period of time came to be known as the Viking Age.

During these raids, they would loot communities, destroy property, kill people, and take others

as slaves.

In 860, one monk wrote, "Everywhere the Christians are the victims of massacres, burnings,

plundering.

The Vikings conquer all in their path and nothing resists them . . . " Their reputation

in combat remains untarnished today even though Viking experts such as Else Roesdahl caution

"they did not win all of their battles – far from it – even though many people seem to

think so."

Why did the Vikings have the edge over those they plundered?

1.

The Vikings were well-trained.

Males received weapons training at an early age.

In their youth, they engaged in "hunting, sports and raiding" according to a BBC article.

They learned how to fight not just for the raids but also for self-defense.

One sources describes how "it was a requirement that all male Vikings had completed weapons

training so they could defend their villages during attacks."

In addition, Vikings had their own form of martial arts called Glima.

According to an ancient history website, this style of martial arts "includes throws,

blows, kicks, chokes, locks, pain techniques, and weapon techniques."

There are two types of glima: combat glima and sport glima.

In the past, Viking warriors learned combat glima, while men, women, and children learned

sport glima.

People still practice both forms of Glima today.

2.

The Vikings were well-armed.

From a young age, Viking warriors were taught to always have their weapons within reach

and ready to use.

One Norse gnomic poem called the Hávamál offered this advice about being prepared to

fight at all times:

Let a man never stir on his road a step without his weapons of war;

for unsure is the knowing when need shall arise

of a spear on the way without.

The BBC notes that "laws of the late Viking period show that all free men were expected

to own weapons."

However, this could be a problem for some Vikings because weapons were expensive.

History on the Net points out that "only the richest Vikings would own the complete

set of available weaponry: sword, sax (a short sword), axe, spear, bow and arrows, shield,

helmet and chainmail."

Vikings who were poor often had to settle for carrying "an axe or a spear and a shield."

Instead of fancy metal helmets and chainmail, experts speculate that they wore something

that many of us don't think of as protective battle gear.

The BBC reports that "reindeer hide is said to have been used as armour," and "caps

of hide may have been commonly worn."

One way a poor Viking could get better weapons was to work under a wealthier Viking because

"magnates were expected to provide them for their men."

Besides self-defense, weapons were important as "symbols of their owners' status and

wealth" according to the BBC.

Weapons with fancy decorations indicated high social rank and great wealth.

"Inlays, twisted wire and other adornments in silver, copper and bronze" were just

some of the ways the Vikings displayed their wealth and power on their weapons.

Only a privileged few owned an "Ulfberht" sword, which had the reputation of being one

of the finest weapons made during their time.

According to an Epoch Times article, they were "made with metal so strong and pure

it's baffling how any sword maker of that time could have accomplished it."

Experts today are still trying to figure out how these swords were crafted.

One of them is modern blacksmith Richard Furrer, who "forged a sword of Ulfberht quality"

with technology of the Middle Ages.

His work was featured in a NOVA documentary called "Secrets of the Viking Sword."

Despite his great skill, Furrer called it the "most complicated thing he'd ever

made."

He also added that the ability "to make a weapon that could bend without breaking,

stay so sharp, and weigh so little would be regarded as supernatural."

3.

The Vikings did not fear death.

The Vikings were not afraid of death as long as they lived and died with honor.

Honor was one of the Nine Noble Virtues, which were the foundation of a code of ethics that

played an important part in Norse Paganism.

According to one source, honor involved "one's reputation and moral compass," and it "reminds

us that our deeds, words, and reputation will outlive our bodies."

Participating in raids was a win-win situation for the Vikings.

Dying in combat would add to their honor as long as they fought with courage to the end.

"It was honourable to die valiantly on the battlefield – and honour was more important

than anything," says Roesdahl.

The Vikings also believed an honorable death in battle would earn them a one-way trip to

a glorious afterlife with either the god Odin in Valhalla or the goddess Freyja in Fólkvangr.

If they lived, they could not only gain honor for themselves but also enjoy their share

of the loot from the raids.

4.

The Vikings were masters at surprise attacks.

One of the main reasons for the Vikings' success in warfare was their ability to come

upon their targets quickly and unexpectedly, attack and plunder them, and then leave as

quickly as they arrived before their victims could get help or strike back.

Viking longships made these surprise attacks possible.

According to the BBC, these ships ranged in length "between about 17.5m (57.4 feet)

and 36m (118.1 feet)."

Equipped with sails and oars, they ran on both wind power and manpower.

Longships could reach an "average speed of 10 to 11 knots (11.5 to 12.7 mph)" and

commonly carried "crews of 25 to 60 men."

One source notes that the "Vikings praised their boats for their lightness and flexibility."

Longships could be used for sea voyages, but they could also handle inland waters.

The BBC describes how the "shallow draught of these ships meant that they were able to

reach far inland by river and stream, striking and moving on before local forces could muster."

The Vikings also engaged in some psychological warfare to add to the terror caused by their

surprise attacks.

The BBC states that the Vikings placed "fearsome figureheads . . . at stem and stern as a sign

of warlike intent, underlined by rows of shields mounted along the sides for defence or show."

They also placed fearsome looking troops called berserkers at the front of their troop formations

according to History Extra.

One source describes the berserkers as "members of an unruly warrior gang that worshipped

Odin, the supreme Norse deity, and were commissioned to royal and noble courts as bodyguards and

'shock troops', who would strike fear into all who encountered them."

Berserkers were generally thought to wear bear and wolf pelts instead of armor, but

the National Museum of Denmark claims that they fought completely naked.

Their behavior was as shocking as their appearance, especially when they were in a trance state

known as berserkergang.

This state led to a "great rage, under which they howled as wild animals, bit the edge

of their shields, and cut down everything they met without discriminating between friend

or foe" according to one source.

5.

The Vikings often planned their attacks carefully.

The Vikings were not afraid to use physical force during raids, but they preferred to

"work smarter and not harder" as the saying goes.

They looked for easy targets.

The National Museum of Denmark states that they liked to attack monasteries because they

"often contained large amounts of ecclesiastical silver and were not as well defended as the

trading towns."

One military history website notes that the Vikings also "attacked selected targets

in coastal areas and near large rivers due to superior strategic mobility."

In other words, they raided coastal and river communities because they could easily arrive

and escape from these locations on their longships.

Location was not the only strategic concern for the Vikings.

According to sciencenordic.com, they also relied on a "vast network" of spies who

provided them with information about the activities of their intended targets such as treasuries.

Roesdahl describes how the Vikings "surveilled the areas within their reach" and "then

waited for the right moment to strike."

They also took advantage of areas with "political unrest."

Sciencenordic.com states that areas with "internal struggles" were easy pickings because warring

factions were more focused on fighting each other than trying "to protect towns or monasteries

against raiding Vikings."

This careful planning allowed the Vikings to transition from conducting what History

on the Net calls "small, disorganized raids" to amassing "thousands of men into a Great

Army" that allowed them to conquer and "colonize" several countries, including "England, Ireland,

northern France and parts of Russia around Novgorod and Kiev," toward the end of the

Viking Age.

What If SCP-303 Was Real? - Duration: 7:38.

What's your biggest fear?

For some people, the thought of a small house spider minding its own business in the corner

of a bathroom, eating pesky flies and generally being a good dude - is so massively fear inducing

that they'd rather call the fire department to kill it with an axe than have to face it

themselves.

Also, please don't do that ever - that was just a hyperbolic joke.

For me, anyway - mannequins, in particular, hold a strange fear deep within my primate

brain - the fear of the uncanny, a thing that appears to be human but, in fact - is far,

far from it.

It's strange that our brain is hardwired in such a particular way that even the most

bizzare objects or entities can produce mind-numbing fear.

But, well - I've got one that will terrify you all.

Let me introduce you to SCP-303, and err - you'll never look at a doorway the same.

Hello Internet - and welcome back to the most inquisitive channel on YouTube, Life's Biggest

Questions, as per usual I'll be your disembodied floating voice Jack Finch, as today, we figure

out what you're all made of - and curiously ask the question, What If SCP-303 Was Real?

Roll the clip.

Now - I'm not in the nature of making you dear listeners completely paralyzed by fear

the next time you try and step through a mysteriously dark doorway, but I'm afraid it may be innately

transient over the next 7 or so minutes.

Besides, it's a fear that already exists in us all anyway - although you may have not

yet realised.

Have you ever been walking through an empty corridor, late in the evening - and you're

about to step through the next set of doors - but suddenly, you get a strange and abrupt

feeling, instantly, as you step through the threshold.

What if there's somebody waiting up ahead - hidden in the doors blindspot?

What if someone is just waiting to peek their head through the small porthole?

What if something is through there… waiting in the shadows.

Well - what if that someone was actually an anomalous entity, an apex predator of fear

- whose sole purpose was to make sure you never stepped through his door, ever again.

Or her door.

It's kind of complicated.

I'll explain momentarily.

As the record states, SCP-303 is a euclid class anomalous entity - which witnesses describe

as a nude, sexless, emaciated humanoid figure with reddish-brown skin.

Instead of normal facial features, its head is entirely made up of an extremely large

mouth, which bears a set of oversized, human teeth.

It's not quite right, is it?

Not only that though, but SCP-303 continually vocalizes a wheezing noise, loud enough to

be heard from the other side of most solid doors - like an even more nightmarish version

of Muriel Finster.

Ew.

All individuals who have had an encounter with SCP-303 are completely capable of describing

it in full, including individuals who have not physically seen any part of it.

Alright - so there's some weird little guy with a huge mouth, what's the big deal?

Well.

This guy also goes by the nickname, The Doorman - and no, he's not a door man.

Door.

Man.

Uh - that was a niche reference.

Sorry.

Ten points to whoever gets that one.

But - let's not get sidetracked - because SCP-303 will periodically materialize behind

any closed door, hatch, or other entryway barrier that is opposite a sentient observer.

These portals are seemingly chosen by some unknown means, and no discernable pattern

has yet been made.

SCP-303 will then remain behind the door for an indeterminate amount of time - and any

individual attempting to open the door or barrier experiences an intense, paralyzing

fear that lasts until SCP-303 dissipates - either on its own, or to avoid being seen directly

be another observer.

The source of this intense, paralyzing fear isn't exactly clear on a psychological level

- but it appears to be similar in nature to arachnophobia and ophidiophobia - AKA spiders

and snakes - and originates on some pre-conscious, ancient - genetic level.

As in - we were built to maintain and somehow react to this level of fear in our human brains,

although it isn't exactly clear why.

Strangely enough though - an analysis has also indicated that SCP-303 is not, in fact,

purposefully inducing fear in the affected individuals - it just kind of IS terrifying

by proxy, although perhaps doesn't necessarily mean to be.

Poor guy.

Maybe?

I don't know - I wouldn't want to risk it, really.

Let's not give 303 the benefit of the doubt just yet.

Because here's the most terrifying part.

SCP-303 doesn't allow itself to come into direct visual contact with any observer, and

has never allowed any one individual to view more than 10% of it's given form.

When the door or other entryway barrier is partially or completely transparent, SCP-303

will materialize in an orientation that leaves 10% or less of its body visible, or cause

effects of fog or frost on the transparent surface to achieve the same effect.

Which is - I don't know about you - but the literal personification of fear of the

unknown.

What the hell is this thing?

I don't want to go through that door.

Several tests that the Foundation have undertaken, have even detailed D-Class Personnel who were

willing to straight up murder their cellmates than go through the same door that SCP-303

has affected.

There aren't many more options left, really - doors are quickly becoming a huge problem

in this hypothetical scenario.

And that would appear to be the simple solution, right?

If SCP-303 Was Real - we should just shift our infrastructure and construction industry

to not include doors.

But do you realise how ridiculous that would be?

Do you realise how important doors are?

We can't just blanket ban doors for the sake of one anomalous, terrifying entity.

How would we prevent fires from spreading?

How would we keep people out of our homes?

What would we politely hold open to be a generally decent member of society?

No.

Doors stay.

We're not giving them up.

We won't negotiate with SCP-303.

So what's the answer?

Well, I think we may just have it.

Well.

Alright, we might have a few kinks to work out.

But yeah.

Star Trek Doors.

Sleek.

Stylish.

Non transparent.

Automatic - controlled by a fully sentient AI that is constantly aware of any creatures

on the other side of the door with malintent - SCP-303 wouldn't know what had hit him,

or her - sorry, it's complicated.

But the non complicated answer is - Star Trek Doors.

And finally - after all this time - we'd have the motivation to make them real, all

because of a spooky little dude with massive teeth and an unhealthy obsession of hanging

out behind pre-24th century doors.

Thank you, SCP-303.

Thank you.

Well, what do you guys think?

Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below.

Before we depart though, let's read out some of your more creative comments from our

previous SCP video.

Kiki Zandov says -- By researcher you mean a d-class?

The guys in the orange suits?

THE testing subjects of researchers?

Don't you just hate when someone makes a video on something he BEARLY knows.

-- Well, Kiki.

Listen up.

Your assumption there is based solely on the pictographic information of SCP-2521.

But when an entity is discovered, it first needs to be notarized by a Foundation RESEARCHER

- and THEN, it's tested on D-Class personnel.

In the context of Bruce's story - he was first discovered before tests were conducted

on his anomalous nature.

Also, sorry buddy - but you spelled barely wrong.

Grizzly.

Thanks for the comment though!

Well - on that passive aggressive note, cheers for sticking around all the way until the

end - if you were a fan of this video - make sure to hit that thumbs up button, as well

as that subscribe bell - and I'll be seeing you in the next one.

As per usual, you've been watching Life's Biggest Questions - I've been your disembodied

floating voice Jack Finch - and until next time, you take it easy.

Josiah & Lauren Discuss Their Married Life | Counting On - Duration: 3:09.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

My favorite moment was our first kiss.

You can't beat that.

You may now kiss the bride.

[CHEERING]

My favorite amount was hopping in the car

and heading out just us.

It was nice that we could actually

have some time to spend just us two, no one else around.

And we're just excited to be married now.

Since our wedding day, we've moved into our house

and got some things set up there and then getting ready to go

on our big honeymoon.

How many eggs do you want?

Maybe three.

My dad has had the Baylor house for a number of years.

We've always called the Baylor house

the Baylor house cause I guess the original family was

the Baylor family.

And we've always been just kind of working

on it slowly but surely--

more slowly than surely, really.

Originally, we were going to live in Baylor.

But today, they are still working on it,

and it's still not finished.

So we needed a house.

So praise the Lord, the Lord blessed us with the house

that we can live in now versus waiting for Baylor.

You know what's funny is you have a coffee maker

but none of us drink coffee.

I know.

It's for company.

Oh, I was going to say.

And we needed something over there, yeah.

Oh, it'll just sit there and collect

dust until Ginger comes.

I think the biggest adjustment for me

was I have to do most of the housework

because he's really busy with work.

And he can't really help me.

So I was used to having my sisters help run the house.

So it's mainly me.

So some stuff doesn't get done, and I

just don't stress about it.

JEREMY: Put the toilet seat down.

You know, I don't know what he does with his socks.

But don't throw your socks on the floor.

Come on, man.

Think about that.

You have to have the toilet paper roll a certain way

or else it just doesn't work.

I think that Kendra probably had to adjust to my habits

more than I adjusted.

I'd set alarms, and I'm a deep sleeper.

So it takes me a little bit to like wake up to the fact

that, OK, my alarm's going off.

Like right after Ben and I got married,

I don't feel like it was hard and oh, such an adjustment,

or anything like that.

It was a breeze.

It was easy transition.

I grew up in a house with four sisters.

And there was lots of hair clogging up the shower

drains at times and the sink drains and everything.

And I mean, it's my job to clean it out.

That was one of my chores, so.

Be maybe a bit more neat where you put your toothbrush.

Clean up after yourself.

I mean, she's perfect.

I just learned she's perfect.

That's what I learned.

[MUSIC PLAYING]
