- It's time for a Coding Train bonus episode. (laughs)
(train whistling)
I made this ridiculously terrible video
about how to make a GIF loop.
And you should really just go look at Golan Levin's
amazing resources.
And different artists that I've mentioned,
Saskia Freeke and Bees and Bombs,
who are doing wonderful things.
Then I made this video, which I actually kind of love
that makes a heart in processing.
Just using like a nice little math formula.
Look at that.
It's time to make a GIF loop of the heart
for Valentine's Day.
There I said it.
It's Valentine's Day, this is what we're doing.
Alright, so first that I need is for this
to always end where it started.
So I have an idea for doing that.
Which is that, if what I'm doing is I'm adding these,
I'm adding the vertices of the heart over and over again.
When I get to the end, all I want to do
is start deleting the ones from the beginning.
So I should go back to that idea of percent.
So let me actually open up my other thing.
So I'm going to open up the GIF loop code.
This is my design.
So what I need is this at the top.
Then I need all my drawing stuff.
And I'm going to put it in the render function.
And now the percent, the percent is going
to tell me what to do with a.
So, that angle.
I'm going to have to change something.
So let's just first do it this way.
A equals map, percent, which goes between zero and one
to between zero and two pi.
So right now, if I run this with record,
and let me close this.
This should just be, I've got my GIF loop.
Let me just move everything out of the way.
I've got my GIF loop here and I want record default.
So I don't want to record yet.
So now if I run this,
we can see it's making the heart.
Oh,
oh, right.
And then, okay, so that's the right idea
but it's not looping because ultimately,
I mean there's a bunch of things I could do.
Because I could say,
if I record it, I mean in a way I'm getting a loop,
but I want it to like shrink back down to zero.
So I need the size.
So basically I want percent, I want this to be like,
actually when percent is between zero and .5,
halfway through. I want to draw the heart.
So I'm going to say, this is weird.
But if percent is greater than .5, is less than .5,
less than or equal to .5. (laughs)
There's probably a better way way to do this.
But I'm going to do it this way right now.
I'm going to add points.
Otherwise, I want to remove the number of points
that I've added.
And I think it actually is just going to work
if I just say heart dot, how do I delete something out of,
I think if I just delete zero,
that'll be like the oldest one.
As I get, so let's try that.
(laughs)
That removed them all.
What's going on here?
Oh, but I still need to draw.
I always need to draw it.
Ahh.
So I'm always drawing it no matter what.
But I'm adding points for the first half
and removing points for the second half.
There we go!
There's my loop.
Yay!
Okay, so now, guess what?
I should make, add some colors and things.
Oh, it should beat.
People are saying it should beat.
Of course it should beat.
Okay, okay, we're going to add beating to it.
Okay, so there's no reason why the size,
the size is being controlled by this thing, r, here.
So actually, let's take this out.
Let's take this.
So this will make it small, right?
Right, so makes it small.
So I can control the size here just while I'm drawing it.
Because I could say r times, r times.
Great, so now what I want is the r to be,
so I want an angle to be mapped,
the percent between zero and one
and maybe between zero and two pi, but like times four.
I probably want it to beat like four times
within just the one.
So I'm going to just map that and then r equals map of sin
of that angle, which goes between negative one and one
to between like
height divided by 80 to height divided by 40.
So I think this would map the size to a sin wave
and the angle is getting mapped from the percent.
And so this would be
and it should be a perfect loop of it beating.
Okay.
I feel like I need to add more color and stuff to this
and it's kind of off-center.
Hmm, alright.
So let's see if this is a perfect loop.
I have no idea if it's a perfect loop.
It's weird, something was weird about it.
It's not deleting all the points.
Ha, this is crazy.
This is actually kind of a nice effect.
But I'm not deleting all of the points.
I did, and am I just getting some left over?
Hold on.
(bell rings)
Guess what?
The problem is I'm adding an extra,
I'm adding that last vertex twice.
Because I have less than equals there.
So this is actually as simple
as just getting rid of that equals there.
I just want to use percent is less than .5.
I'm sure somebody in the chat already said this.
But now you see this loops perfectly.
Let me add the heart beating back in.
So I had that from before where I had r
mapped to the result of a sine function.
And so if I do that,
I'm pretty sure this is a perfect loop still.
Is that beating too fast?
Slower beating, people are saying.
So to slow down the beating, I'm going to just do
two pi times two.
Is that better?
Anyway, you can work on, you can make (laughs)
your own version of this.
(laughs) This is fine for me right now.
I got to end this video.
I am now going to change record to true.
I'm going to hit run.
It's going to finish that.
I'm going to look in the folder
and I can see I have all the images there.
I'm just going to check the last one, which looks like that.
And the first one,
yeah, I think this will match up perfectly.
Which basically the first one is empty.
So I think coming all the way down to zero
and back up will work.
So the website that I used before,
although there's a variety of different ways
you can make a GIF stitched out of a bunch of images,
is this GIF maker, ezGIF.com/maker.
So I can click Choose Files and I go to my output directory
where I have all those.
I can hit command A, select all the files,
and then click Upload and make a GIF.
So it's now uploading all those images.
And we can see them all here now.
I could do all sorts of things to fuss with them.
And I'm curious to add this crossfade frames.
Let's try adding that.
Oh, that's a bad idea.
I don't know.
Let's make the delay time three one-hundredths of a second,
that's more like 30 frames per second.
And then it's not exact,
and then I'm going to click Make a GIF.
And then the cat is going to, going to wait for my GIF.
Hi, cat. Meow meow.
Make me my GIF.
Oh, and
my GIF is ready.
Yay.
Now I just do Save Image As heart GIF, there it is.
Thank you everybody. (lips smacking)
I love you, I hope you enjoyed
this special about using, special?
(laughs) This video about using math to draw a heart curve
and then animating it as an infinitely looping GIF.
And I just can't wait to see all of the different,
I just want to be flooded with heart GIFs.
Just flood me with heart GIFs.
(train whistling)
Make them 3D, make them rainbow colors, put stars in them,
and cupcakes and whatever you can think of.
I'll see you in a future coding challenge.
Goodbye. Mwah.

I accidentally ate an iPod Nano...
That's why I can talk now.
Together we will react to the best videos on the Internet.
Join us, this is...
Navegando!
What's up homies welcome to a new episode of Navegando.
In this episode, we are going to learn German.
So we can celebrate I passed with a 7 (A "C" in the USA).
Let's see how long this dude will last without doing Nazi jokes.
I think the best way to understand a language is by understanding its culture.
Music is a reflection of the culture, so let's hear some tunes!
There's a german raper I like a lot called Cro.
The song is called "Todas" (All the girls).
I think you guys are going to like it, I haven't listened to it, but I like his music.
Let's hear it!
All the girls in the world! All the girls in the world!
All the girls in the world!
Suck it! Suck it you fucking hoe!
Suck it! Suck it! You fucking hoe!
I thought you had good taste.
Let's go see videos about German culture.
The village of Oberammergau, 24 km from Neutsbanstein.
To see a magical tradition.
Walking thru Oberammergau, I found some interesting things.
Different from other Bavarian villages...
Okay this is boring, let's go see something less than 10 minutes.
Look "Don't come to Germany if...".
If you are this.
Hello everybody, welcome once again to the channel.
In this video I have a lot of news, well "news".
One of them is that i have the results of my German exam.
The TESTAF I did in June.
Hold on.
Lemme just skip thru.
Number 1, don't come to Germany if you are a Neo Nazi.
Obi you can't go to Germany.
Look at this one "How Germans Flirt".
You are desperate.
Google recommends these videos.
Hello world walkers! I'm Maribel.
Your Mexican friend in Germany
This one isn't 10 minutes.
I want to pick up germans right now!
Let's look at this one, it's got a nice thumbnail.
Oh! It's a reaction, this is meta.
Let's go see the original, can we do that?
Let's see it.
So if you like a girl at the club.
If you want to get close.
You have to do the following.
In Germany everyone dances in a circle.
Probably the girl you like is dancing with her friends in a circle.
As a man you just walk behind her dancing.
When you are behind her, put your hands on her waist.
Not in a rude way.
You slowly put your hands.
And if the girl likes you...
She will just stay there dancing.
Okay.
Let's go read the comments!
Good tips...
GREETINGS BEUTIFULL.
I love you Lunita when I will see you all approach you from behind.
Who cares what german girls are like.
They wan't to take away our latinos.
Oof.
What do these comments land on the Oof Scale?
OOF!
That's pretty Oof.
These coments are filled with...
Horny...
Latinos, that only got into a new language to get laid.
That's not the goal of studying another language.
"I want to study there".
"I'm going to find a job".
No one belives that load of crap.
It's what Emilio does.
Obi is right.
I'm done watching videos of german culture.
We are going to watch a show.
This show is for German lerning
This one was recommended to me by my teacher.
This show is called "Mein Weg"
"Mein Weg Nach Deutschland" or "Erste Wege im Deutschland".
They can't choose a name.
It's about a Turkish girl that goes to Germany.
Everything is in German, but don't worry.
I'm in my third semester of german
With your seven your are going to save us all.
Episode 1: The Bus. I've gotten lost there a few times.
She said, "Wussup does the circuit rout go thru here?".
"You going to pay with a PagoBus?"
No.
Fuck yeah! It's 11 bucks like in Mexico!
You have to pay on the bus?
Dummies, why don't they just get on for free?
Couldn't they get her a less shitty phone?
Doesn't it have a frontal camera?
Is it from Oxxo?
Is there Oxxos in Germany?
Can we go to one?
I don't judge her.
I filmed a vending machine.
We're on the same terms.
This anime get's a 5/10.
Not enough fights.
Well, that's everything for today!
Where I study German...
They ask us for self-learning hours.
This is worth the entire semester.

Moments in Black History: Claudette Colvin - Duration: 2:13.
(applause)
- Alright everybody, before we go
I wanna remind you that today
is the beginning of Black History Month.
It's a time to reflect on historic accomplishments
of African Americans.
Now many of us know the names like Dr Martin Luther King Jr,
Rosa Parks, Malcolm X, Harriet Tubman,
but there are also many other people
with stories that you won't read about
in an elementary school history book.
That's why this month I'm gonna share
stories about African Americans whose names
we should all know.
(applause)
Today I wanna tell you about Claudette Colvin,
who as a 15 year old girl
created her own place in history.
On March 2nd, 1955, nine months before Rosa Parks
refused to give up her seat,
Claudette was ordered by a bus driver
to move to the back of the bus.
But she stood her ground and refused.
Claudette was arrested and thrown in jail.
When asked why she didn't give up her seat
Claudette said it felt as though
Harriet Tubman's hands were pushing me down on one shoulder
and Sojourner Truth's hands was pushing me down
on the other shoulder.
(applause)
Now, you may wonder why Claudette
didn't get the recognition for her courage.
Well it's been said that several black organizations
at the time felt Rosa Parks made a better icon
for the movement than a teenager.
But today we're giving Claudette Colvin
the recognition she deserves for her role
in the fight to end segregation.
To Claudette we say thank you.
That's our show for today everybody.
If you'd like to see some behind the scenes moments

As an ambassador for Laureus it's such a special responsibility.
I'm so proud and honoured, that I'm able to live my passion
by sharing my passion with the youth through Laureus Sport for Good.
I had a very challenging childhood.
The worst part of it: We were walking barefoot around the United States with a blanket and a robe.
We literally had to go behind the big supermarkets and open up the giant trash cans to find food.
We had what we needed, but we didn't have things that we wanted.
And then we found a surfboard.
I went into the ocean, caught my first wave and it was like heaven.
Nothing else mattered.
It didn't matter if we didn't have all the food we needed.
Didn't matter if we didn't have a nice house, it didn't matter if I didn't have any friends.
I had the ocean. It instantly became my passion and my love, my everything!
One person that really left an impression on me, he was the best surfer at the time,

He came to our local beach, Hollywood Beach, and he gave us shorts, surf shorts, and he gave us stickers.
And I, to this day, remember this so clearly.
He was the coolest guy in the world, the nicest guy in the world.
And all it took was just giving me a little gift and sharing a few words, and I was just in love with this guy.
Sport changed my life, sport gave me everything, I'm living my passion, following my dreams and working to inspire the youth.
The best way for me to change the game for the youth – I'd like to bring them to the beach and share with them my story, where I've started.
We have to respect the environment, because without the environment we do not exist.

Seeking Approval & Knowing Your Worth | Music Artist Tips - Duration: 5:32.
music artists and entrepreneurs what's good Mike Sarge here for MikeSarge.com and
some of you care way too much about what other people are saying or thinking when
it comes to you your art your gifts and your talents and we need to talk about
it as though ways today's episode is sponsored by nectar distribution so you
don't want to miss this one now go ahead and hit that subscribe button let's
work salutes to that so when I first started music I wasn't different than
anyone else in the fact that I wanted people to like my stuff and that's
anyone I mean you want people to like your content you want people to like
your music you know your products whatever you got going whatever you're
trying to present to the world so what was the problem as I was going on doing
my thing doing music I started to notice that if people didn't give the reaction
that I was really expecting or I felt like you know the type of music that I
was releasing wasn't the type of music that they were listening to I ultimate
felt well I ultimately felt like you know my stuff wasn't good enough and the
truth is I began creating not from the heart and what I really felt I started
creating for the approval and the thoughts of others which can be super
dangerous whether you know it or not creatives just like me you do this on a
regular basis and it's something we really got to stop doing for example
there are people that I know that you know they've made it pretty clear they
want to do a song with me some of these people are pop artists others you know
rappers and singers etc now while some of them wants to actually collab and
just make really good music others they have a different idea in mind the real
reason why some of the others may want to collab with me isn't to make dope
music but it's because they believe that if I'm on their music if I collab with
them it validates them as a creatives when the truth is I don't give your art
your gift your talent any worth you do
listen stop basing your actions on other people's validation I mean to be honest
with y'all to be real if I listened to or cared about even half of the opinions
that come my way from half of the people that I come in contact with I wouldn't
be where I am right now I wouldn't have the platform that I have I wouldn't be
an award-winning artist I wouldn't be traveling and speaking to creatives all
over and doing what I love I don't do what I do for the approval of others I
do it to help others I do what I do because I love it I do what I do because
I know my Worth and you have to know your Worth matter of fact if I had to
wait on other people's approval it would look something like this three weeks
later many months later so much data that the old narrator got tired of
waiting and they had to hire a new one
you see what I'm getting at listen there are people in school right now with
student loans just to appease a family member or a close friend not because
they actually are going to school because they want that particular degree
or because they want to be in that particular field there are people right
now that are playing football because of a family member when they know in their
heart they really have a passion for baseball there are people right now that
are trying to be doctors just because everyone around them is telling you hey
it's for the money that's where the money is at when they know deep deep
down does they should be educators and that they should be teachers in the
education system look it's not easy it's not easy at all and I'm not gonna sit up
here and act like it is but the truth is you got to step up you have to step up
matter of fact let me ask you an honest question do you think other successful
people are worried about you for example I know that there are people out there
that don't really like my stuff right you know they don't like you know my
content my videos they don't leave comments they don't share they don't
purchase and buy merch serves and things like that and that's okay and a lot of
them I know by name now are some of them friends acquaintances family members
coworkers yeah but is that gonna stop me from
getting to where I'm trying to go nah whatever look for you I will find you
so what am i alternately telling you to end this figure out what you want
develop a plan and then spend the rest of your life trying to get there stop
worrying about other people cuz I could promise you
they share ain't worried about you and that's real so what you think did you
like this video if so go ahead and hit that like button then hit that subscribe
button so you get notified every time I drop a new video also if there's a
particular topic that you would like me to talk about
go ahead go into the comment section I do read my comments and I will add your
suggestion to the list and as always be you enjoy your life live authentic so
