How to replace oil filter and engine oil on FORD FOCUS 2 (DA) [TUTORIAL AUTODOC] - Duration: 4:19.

Ratchet wrench Torque wrench Flat screwdriver

Oil drain pan Funnel Fender cover

1. Unscrew the oil filler plug.

2. Set the car at the service pit or lift it with a hoist.

AUTODOC recommends: The vehicle must be on even keel, and if it is at an angle, the drain plug must be at the lowest point.

All work should be done with the engine stopped.

3. Undo the fasteners of the oil pan lower cover.

4. Remove the oil pan cover. Use a drive socket #10. Use a flat screwdriver. Use a ratchet wrench.

5. Put a waste oil container with at least 4 l capacity under the drainage hole.

6. Unscrew the drain plug. Use a drive socket #13. Use a ratchet wrench. Drain the used oil.

AUTODOC recommends: Caution! The oil may be hot. Wait until the oil has completely drained from the drainage hole.

7. Move the container under the oil filter.

8. Unscrew the oil filter.

9. Prepare a container for the old oil filter. Put the old oil filter in the container.

AUTODOC recommends: Move up the container. The oil starts to drain out of the drainage hole immediately after you have removed the oil filter.

10. Clean the oil filter seat. Use all-purpose cleaning spray.

11. Lubricate the rubber seal of the new filter with a little amount of fresh oil.

12. Screw the new filter into its place. Use the 76-30F socket. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 18 nm torque.

13. Clean the area of the oil pan drainage hole.

14. Screw in the new drainage plug and tighten it. Use a drive socket #13.

Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 27 nm torque.

15. Reinstall the oil pan lower cover. Tighten the fasteners of the oil pan lower cover.

Use a drive socket #10. Use a ratchet wrench.

16. Unscrew the oil filler plug. Insert the funnel.

17. Pour oil into the engine through the filler. Required amount of oil: 3.7 L.

AUTODOC recommends: Use the oil recommended by the manufacturer.

18. Check the oil level using the dipstick. Top up oil if necessary.

Please note! The oil level should be between the Min and Max marks.

19. Tighten the oil filler cap.

20. Run the engine for a few minutes. After the oil pressure warning light goes out, stop the engine.

21. Check the oil level 5 minutes after the stop of the engine operation using a dipstick and add oil if necessary.

Please note! The oil level should be between the Min and Max marks.

AUTODOC recommends: Make sure that the oil filler cap is properly tightened.

Check the threaded plug of the drainage hole and the oil filter seal for tightness. If necessary, carefully tighten them up.

Note that oil pressure warning light, which indicates insufficient pressure in the lubrication system, may be on for a longer time than usual.

After a few seconds, the oil will fill all the channels, and the light will go out.

1. Remove the clips of the plastic cowl grille. Use a clip removal tool.

2. Raise the wiper plastic cowl grille.

3. Clean the fasteners of the shock strut upper mount. Use WD-40 spray.

4. Unscrew the top fastening of the shock strut mount. Use a combination spanner #19.

Use HEX No.H7. Use a ratchet wrench.

5. Raise the front of the car and secure on supports.

6. Unscrew the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.

AUTODOC recommends: To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when unscrewing the bolts.

7. Disconnect the wiring and the brake hose from the bracket on the shock strut. Use round-nose pliers.

8. Clean the fasteners connecting the stabiliser link to the shock strut, and those connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle.

Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.

9. Unscrew the nut and remove the stabilizer rod from the shock strut.

Use box wrench #18. Use a drive socket #18. Use HEX No.H5.

10. Prop up the steering knuckle. Use a hydraulic transmission jack.

11. Unscrew the lower fastener connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle.

Use box wrench #17. Use a drive socket #15. Use a ratchet wrench.

12. Remove the support from under the steering knuckle.

13. Disconnect the steering knuckle from the shock absorber strut.

14. Unscrew the upper fastening of the shock absorber strut.

AUTODOC recommends: To avoid injuries, hold the shock strut when undoing the fastening bolts.

15. Remove the suspension strut.

16. Set the shock absorber strut on the spring compressor tool.

AUTODOC recommends: Note that when using a spring compressor, spring coils need to be securely gripped, compressing the spring on the opposite sides.

Ensure the correct position of the spring in the retainer.

Make sure that the spring coils tightly entered the lock handles.

17. Compress the spring.

18. Clean the shock absorber rod. Use a wire brush. Use WD-40 spray.

19. Remove the strut piston rod nut. Use a combination spanner #27. Use HEX No.H7.

20. Remove the top mount, the support bearing and the upper spring cup.

21. Install the top mount, the strut mount bearing and the upper spring cup. Use a crowbar.

22. Tighten the shock strut piston rod nut. Use box wrench #27.

Use HEX No.H7. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 60 Nm torque.

AUTODOC recommends: Check to make sure the spring is positioned correctly. Avoid its misalignment.

23. Decompress the spring.

24. Remove the assembled shock strut.

25. Install the shock strut into the wheel arch.

Tighten the upper fastening nut of the shock absorber strut. Do not tighten it.

26. Treat the shock strut mounting seat on the steering knuckle. Use WD-40 spray.

27. Fix the shock absorber strut on the steering knuckle. Install the new steering knuckle bolts.

28. Tighten the lower fasteners connecting the shock strut to the steering knuckle. Use a drive socket #15.

Use box wrench #17. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 85 Nm torque.

29. Remove the support from under the steering knuckle.

30. Connect the fastener of the ABS sensor cable to the shock absorber strut. Fasten the brake hose on the strut.

31. Secure the stabilizer link on the suspension strut. Use box wrench #18.

Use a drive socket #18. Use HEX No.H5.

Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 65 Nm torque.

32. Clean the wheel rim mounting seat. Use a wire brush.

Treat the contacting surface. Use copper grease.

33. Screw in the wheel bolts. Use wheel impact socket #19.

AUTODOC recommends: To avoid injury, hold up the wheel when screwing in the fastening bolts.

34. Tighten the shock strut top mount. Use a combination spanner #19.

Use HEX No.H7. Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 50 Nm torque.

35. Install and secure the cowl grille.

36. Lower the car and working in a cross order, tighten the wheel bolts.

Use a torque wrench. Tighten it to 110 Nm torque.
