Letters to the Resistance Movement

All readers of the Prepare for Change website are invited to communicate with the Resistance

Movement. After discussing this with Cobra we have discovered that members of the RM

desire more information from us, the surface population of Earth.

Cobra has passed this information to us:

you know the strength of it and the numbers.

Lynn � Are we as surface humans able to communicate with them telepathically.

COBRA � It is possible. It has happened in a few instances but it�s not very common

and very few people from the surface have enough awareness of the RM to hear that telepathic

contact.

Lynn � Would it be useful to show them certain situations we are experiencing.

COBRA � Yes. It is sometimes not simple for them to understand their reactions of

the surface population because they are simply, I would say psychologically quite different

and if you explain to them a little bit more, even telepathically or in writing you can

I finally memorized the locations of the games

Anyway

In this episode we will review a game that I've been excited to review for a very long ago

Which is Alcazar on MSX

Since we reached episode 30

This is the right time to talk about the game

First of all I would like to thank Mubarak Al Sabah the owner of Stage 1 channel

He's the one who got me this game and I am so thankful to him

He granted my wish to be honest. Because I looked for this game in many websites and others

and I absolutely found nothing!

I'll put a link to his channel in the description

Check his channel out, honestly he has awesome vidoes

So let's get started

It's pretty known in the video games world

That there are cheap games

also there are rare one that you can find, but with an expensive price

The third kind of games which are the extincted ones

This is the kind that is hard to find in retail websites

and even if you find them. They will also be expensive as usual

This is the Alcazar game

Anyway

This game was released in 1985

On Coleco Adam

ColecoVision

Apple II

Commodore 64

and MSX

Of course the other systems were not available to us back then

or some were available but we didn't know about them

But for us we played the MSX version

Because it was very popular

considering that it was the number one entertainment console in it's time

Because of the hardcore games

and Arabic educational games

The idea of using a console for entertainment and education at the same time

was amazing

But unfortunately it didn't last for a long time

Anyway, let's go back to Alcazar

The title is inspired from the castle that located in Spain

Which is its name same as the title of the game. In other word

It's called Alcázar of Segovia.

This castle was built by Al Murabiteen

If you don't know the Murabiteen coutry

It's an Islamic country

that appeared in the fifth and sixth centuary AH

to be precise

in 1106 AD

Anyway

The Murabiteen built this castle in 1122 AD

It was used as a fort at the beginning

and as a Military Academy as well

But now days the castle is an open museum for all tourists

Which the most tourist attraction location in Segovia

Anyway

Some games are based on the movies

But this game is based on a historical Castle

Which is interesting

Let's drop the historical lesson and start reviewing the game

First of all the title screen looks good

and there are four difficulty levels which I am getting into shortly

After choosing the difficulty press the F5 to start the game

When I played the game at the first time I didn't know what is going on

or what I am seeing

Is it a painting or a loading screen?

What loading screen?!

This is an MSX that uses cartridges!!

Anyway, I found out that is the world map

and you are the dot on the left which you can control

As you can see, These buildings are the forts

Which you have to enter and clear them by finding the exit

and your main goal is to reach the big black castle on the right

Which is Alcázar of Segovia

where you have to find the lost crown

In order to beat the game

Anyway, when you enter any fort

you will enter the main gameplay

This is your main character that doesn't have any identity or story

and you of course are presenting yourself in this game

The hero is looking basically likeeeeee

The Hulk with a gun!

Anyway,

The game is an adventure exploring game as you can see

With overhead view

You can explore the forts and find weapons and tools

and face monsters too

Your main goal is finding the exit of one fort in order to get to the other

You can control with the arrow keys and the space bar only

Sadly, this game doesn't supports controllers such as the Genesis' and Atari's

and I don't know why

Anyway the controls are simple. The arrow keys are for moving

the Space bar is for changing weapons and tools

In order to use your weapon or tool

Press the arrow key and space at the same time

You will have to press the arrow key depending on your target direction

About the inventory bag

You have three empty spaces

and a separate space that is the item you are currently using in your hand

In the empty spaces you can store other items

and you switch between them

In case if you don't have enough space

Inside the forts you explore the rooms and halls and each castle have two floors to explore

Like I said you will find various of weapons and tools

The most important weapon is the gun

and it has 6 shots

You will find ammo as you progress and there are other tools and weapons

that the can be a weakness for some monsters

Let me mention that there are cheap traps like these holes

which are completely big rooms with a giant hole

These are the cheap traps that I can't stand!

Remember Castlevania 2 Simon's Quest when you get out of the door and fall directly into the water?

That's the exact thing!

Let's talk about the enemies

There is the fly

which does nothing but fly everywhere

it also create sounds and it's basically harmless

You can kill it if you want

The second type of the enemies is the spider

It's the easiest enemy in the game because it's too slow

and it dies with one hit

The third kind is the Griffin

Seriously does this looks like Griffin to you?!

Killing this monster requires an entire ammunition

and it makes noisy sounds

Third kind of monster is mmmmm

You will will know it by its foot prints

these are the foot prints of the tiger

When you see those in any room know that you will find a tiger

It sounds like someone is trying to spit out phlegmh

But in general its voice is okay

*Explaining the tigers roar in Arabic*

Anyway, it's not even that hard to kill

Only three shots and he's gone

What I liked, is the idea of having footprints

Which gives you a sign that there is a tiger closed by

Back then, it was an awesome idea

The forth kind of monster is the worm

which doesn't look like worm

But I can excuse the designers considering the limitation of MSX

This monster leaves prints same as the tiger

which will let you know that it's closed by

At the beginning I thought it was the giant nose in the Wario Ware games

and these are eeeee

You know what I mean, In other word

I am fighting a running nose

Alright! Alright! I'll stop this kind of jokes so you don't say that I disgust you! Alright

Anyway the fifth kind of monsters is the guard

and he makes a sound like a bell does

or maybe it's the clank of his sword

This enemy gives you a key when you defeat it

The final kind of monster

Which you will see his track without mentioning him

it's the bell, if you saw a bell

you better go back and look for another passage

Because the monster is the genie

I thought it was giant lips at the beginning

or a Zombie Pacman

Until I realized it's a genie

He's so fast and he can catch you so quickly

You have to get to the other rooms fast

to get it to slow down before appearing again

This monster is the hardest in the game

Anyway, That's all about the monsters

Regarding the health

Does the game have the health bar?

Yes it's here

But in a different and a very weird way

which is also unique compared to other games

If you would like to know your character's health status

Focus on your his hair

each time an enemy touches or hits you, the hair color will be changed

If it's in black, it means you are in you full health

When you get damaged

It changes to blue

when you get damaged even more

eeeeee....

You turned into Super Saiyan Rose!!

Finally if your hair changed to red

It means that you will die with one hit

The idea of changing your hair color as you get hit is weird

But at least you will immediatly know the status of your character

without the need to turn your attention to a health bar

by looking at the health bar if it was here

The funny thing is that when you die

you will spin and shrink

as if you are being flushed in a toilet!

Alright! Alright! This is the last time! Anyway,

you will see laid carpets in the forts

But the ones that have patterns

They teleport you to a random location in the fort

depending on your luck

Anyway,

Let's talk about the exploration in the game

Like I said you goal is reaching the Alcázar of Segovia

and when you will see the map at the beginning of the game

You will know which forts you have to get into to reach there

The forts on the edge. There is no reason to go inside of them

Maybe for ammo but you will already find some as you go to your main path

These spots increase your health or move you to another location

But keep in mind that can't go back afterwards

Now let's talk about the map inside the forts

As you can see there are two green squares

and there is a spot that shows your location

each time you visit a new room

it changes to white in the map

In other word, it becomes whiter as you visit more places

The green spaces are the undiscovered ones

There are two squares, The first one is the ground floor

and the second for the first floor

Each fort have one extra floor

if you want to find the exit, basically

When you are at the world map

Take a look at the fort you want to get into

and you will notice the exit from the other side

Sometimes the exit is on the upper, lower or the far right side

For example let's say the exit is in the upper side

You have to find the exit at upper part of the map on both floors

Sometime the exit is in the ground floor or the first

So it's better that you explore both floors

Finding the exit is not hard in general

When you reach Alcázar of Segovia

There is no "Find the exit"

Here you have to find the crown. Not to mention that

The castle have two extra floors

The ground, first and second

You have to investigate all the floors if you want to find the crown

Not to mention that the castle is not that easy

Because you will encounter more enemies and traps

Try to avoid the genies as best as you can because they are so fast

like I said, the bell is a sign that they are closed by

and in the rooms nearby

Some time the crown is placed behind the iron door

Which you have to open with a key

and as we said, you have to kill the guard in order to get the key

If you found the crown

Make sure that there is no enemy chasing you

Then get the crown and you will beat the game

Back then I thought it was a chair not a crown

Do you know what is the creative thing in the game?

It's that each time you play a new game

The map and the level design in the forts change as well and don't stay the same

which means you will play the game with a completely a new design everytime

This also means that you can consider the game as a "Rogue Adventure" game

which means everytime you play a new game you will get different level designs

We saw these types of games such as Binding Of Isaac

Vaccine and others

Seeing these types of games on MSX is a big thing to be honest

Anyway, the game is too short

and you can beat it in around 30 minutes or even 15 minutes

But that doesn't mean that it's not enjoyable

The stupid thing about the game is the difficulty system

In each time you play game in a higher difficulty

You will get less lives

If you played it in a highest difficulty you only get one life

Unless you save the prisoners who give you one extra life

The enemies become faster when you rise the difficulty level

Not to mention that you will see more traps than usual as well

Anyway, that all about Alcazar

In conclusion this is Alcazer on MSX. An excellent game and a very unique one as well

if you are looking for a physical copy

It's hard to find it on retail website such as Ebay and Amazon, like I said..

It's very rare

But, There is a website that you might find the game on

Could Manchester United target Marco Asensio be set for a move this summer?

Marco Asensio is undoubtedly one of the best young players in Europe after a breakout season with Real Madrid.

He even managed to score during the Champions League final and there is hope that

he can go on to become one of the stars at the Bernabeu. However, until he becomes a regular in the first team,

there will be admiring glances from other European teams.

It, therefore, comes as little surprise to see Don Balon reporting that Manchester United, Arsenal and Juventus are all interested in the 21-year-old.

All three are capable of making incredible offers for the midfielder, but it isn't expected that he will leave the La Liga champions this summer.

That said, if he is not given enough opportunities in the Real Madrid first team,

there is a chance that he could demand a move away.

The talent of Asensio is well known across Europe and he will be a player that several clubs are keeping an eye on, with the view to a transfer at a later date.

The 21-year-old has a lot of potential and he has already started performing at a high level. During last season's Champions League,

he scored three times, while he showed flashes of his ability in La Liga too.

The problem for the youngster is his limited playing time at Real Madrid. Currently the best side in Europe,

it is a difficult task for any fringe player to break into the first team, even if they are as good as Asensio.

His maturity was evident last season, as he grabbed every opportunity that was presented to him.

It can be difficult to impress as a young player in the Spanish capital,

but Asensio possesses the star quality required.

He always looks to be positive on the pitch and he has a near-flawless technique when he does have possession of the ball.

The youngster is clever with his movement, as he often finds pockets of space, but it is his dynamism on the ball that is most impressive.

He is a willing runner and capable of beating opposition players at will. The 21-year-old is already an excellent player and he will only improve further in the future.
