Hello everyone,
Here we are with 1977 Mercedes Pullman and it has only 36.000 kilometers on odometer.
This special car that you see had introduced at 1963,
Frankfurt Autoshow and produced for 18 years from 1963 to 1981.
To brief, Pullman had become the longest time produced car in Mercedes history.
This magnificent vehicle that designed by the famous designers of the brand,
Paul Bracq and Bruno Sacco, comes up with the feature
that being made by Mercedes without any cost concern.
Between 1963-1981 years total 2677 copies of 600 had produced.
2190 of these are short wheelbase,
428 are long wheelbase
and 59 are with a convertible top over the rear passenger compartment; Landaulet type.
Although 304 of the long wheelbase 600s had four doors as we introduced,
124 of them had a version with six doors.
Now let's open the hood and look at the engine.
Yes, as you see there is a gigantic engine
in our 2.6 ton and 6.3 meters long car.
V8 cylinder naturally aspired gasoline engine has 6.3 liters capacity
with Single Overhead Camshaft (SOHC) and mechanic injection system.
The engine's 250 ps power and 500NM torque is transmitted to rear wheels
with four speed automatic transmissions.
The car that reaches from 0 to 100km/h in approximately in 10 seconds
and can also reach maximum speed of 200 km/h
This engine has an important feature.
600 has the biggest engine capacity that produced at Germany after the World War II.
Basically, if the World War II is assumed as finished at 1945,
there is no other engine produced that has bigger capacity than this engine in any car
that was made in Germany, passing 23 years till 1968.
Besides, after used at Mercedes 600,
this 6.3 liters engine is used in W109 300SEL.
Moreover, when it had used with 6.8 liters capacity at first AMG car;
This engine also had used with higher capacity at another Mercedes legend 450SEL 6.9.
Now it is time to listen our enormous engine's sound from outside,
exhaust pipe and inside of the car, so let's start the engine.
Yes, as we can see, our 600 Pullman has a gigantic engine
and gigantic features that makes easy to carry this car.
Now let's talk about the technologic features that our vehicle has.
As we mentioned before, at this car, Mercedes had no cost concern.
Therefore they used many technologies at this car with fiftteen new patents included.
Seats, trunk, privacy window, sunroof, door windows, doors and as you see right here;
and as you see right here; the shutter of the fresh-air ventilation system
Air suspension can be adjustable by 5 centimeters high
and the rigidity can determined due to road circumstances.
This system can be thought as the ancestor of the air suspension system
that finds place in today's high classed Mercedes cars.

Suprisingly, even though it has a quiet powerful hydraulic system,
Pullman had electrical steering system.
Of course a car that has this big structure and engine needs to stay quiet steady,
Mercedes used 4 disc breaks for each wheel
and preferred double calipered break system at the front.
Also, this detail tells us 600 is very special.
Look, the star of Mercedes we see has a big structure and here we have a 600 too,
600SEL W140 hatch and this emblem is 20% smaller than the emblem of W100 600.
Our Mercedes star is 20% bigger in size than the other Mercedes stars.
There is an incredible leather smell inside of the car.
It smells like wet tobacco if we want to define how it smells.
Now I want to show you something, look,
do you want to hear a thud sound?

Even harder,
now this is a thud sound a door can give.
Okay, now let's get in the car, the most special part of 600
Look, I'm lowering the window that works with hydraulic power
and you can't even hear a little sound because this the feature of hydraulic system.
If it was electrical system,we could hear the sound more intense,
like a buzz sound but in hydraulic system it does not happen.

Actually, if car was in idle, hydraulic system works all the time,
the window would move faster upwards or downwards
but our car is not working for now and remaining hydraulic power is in use,
so the power decreases as we use the system.
The middle window can be controlled as the same way.
The big window that brings the privacy between driver and us also be controlled from here too.
It is quiet good.
There is a thing that gets our attention and it is related to the hydraulic system again,
we have a shutter at the front side, we also going to show,
these shutters can also open or shut hydraulically and it gets a role about getting fresh air to inside of the car.
But where does fresh air come from? This air comes from various places,
let me show the most important one to you.
Yes, as it can be seen there are canals that can be opened or closed manually.
When the hydraulic shutter which is at the front is open,
fresh air can get in from here depending on demand.
It is at both sides by the way. At my left and also at the place where I stand.
Let's don't pass without talking about floor mat. Let's show with our flashlight.
Here, there is something for resting your feet.
Our mats are covered with sponge by the way.
The isolation can be seen under the mat.
Now Let's talk about seats. As you see incredibly hops off, it hops like a water bed.
This kind of seats had used at 60's, 70's and 80's quiet intensively.
There are springs inside of it but sponge is used widely those days.

However at 600, they exaggerated it, after all this is quiet special series
and it is so comfortable and will give you a great comfort.

Everything is leather, wooden or chrome plated and nothing else.
Okay, yes this is plastic but it is at acceptable level, and at least it is a lighting system.
However, touching senses are amazing,
I mean massive wood gives you the silky feel.
Varnish is outstanding and also as we said, massive wood
which means it is produced directly from wood itself.
And at everywhere you can feel the sense of leather
Everywhere is covered with leather and plastic things are just buttons but the surroundings of them are all chrome.
Really beautiful.
The thing we talk about is the luxury and the technology of 55 years before
but gives more beautiful feelings than the cars we have nowadays.
We talked about the hydraulic system of the vehicle and now we are going to witness it.
For example look I will move my seat by hydraulic system
and now the seat is going down.
Did you hear anything? You can't, because it is hydraulic.
You would hear a buzz sound If it was electrical system.
It definitely would come but at this case nothing is heard.
Look, our seat slides to the forward. There is an hydraulic power right now
I'm laying, my seat is getting lower,
I wonder how much it will go
There is no sound even for a little, just the friction sound of leather.
Yes, as you see now I set the seat more inclined and from now on,
more beautiful and relaxable environment is here.
Yes, now I get the opposite seat.
We got opposite seats and of course these seats are not the same as main seats.
I feel like I'm sitting at back seats of a pick up truck
but a little more luxury than it.
I mean when we consider the steepness and shortness
,there is only two spans of seat cradle.
After all of these we can't talk about "that" much comfort at here.
It is still pretty comfortable and good but too steep to sit for a long time.
In many 600s it is chosen like this, but 600 is so personalizable vehicle
and mostly phone, television or this type of systems are used.
There are the controls of the music system and air conditioning system.
Also look at here, there is a refrigerator.
Any kind of beverage can be put in this fridge.
Also here, even though we can't take it out but it looks like it's stuck a little,
a microphone for talking with the driver when the privacy window was closed I guess.
Also as I understand there is a button stands over here and it looks like it is a emergency button.
We don't know what are these.
And also this is probably about sound system or giving the driver's sound to back side of the car
when the driver talks and this privacy window is closed.
Yes, we got inside of our driver seat and as you see there is a big steering wheel welcomes us
and again generously chrome and everywhere is covered with wooden and leather.
Now there are some changes at our car and let's talk about them here.
When we press the button we see here the shutter that we talked and showed before,
which brings fresh air inside the cabin and again does it with hydraulic
And also an interesting feature, we can set the depth of steering wheel by turning the center to the left.
So fresh air fills the cabin with this way.
Now we turn the center to the opposite direction like this and now it is locked.
A nice feature.
And as you see there is no hand brake but we have foot brake.
This foot brake turns off automatically when the car moves and this is so practical.
In many Mercedes cars there are some features like that.
Another thing is, 600 has a clutch system named as "ceremony gear", and it is so interesting.
As we can guess, big men of countries and politicians had been using this car,
ceremonies were ordinary for these vehicles.
Therefore when this system, ceremony gear, gets on its job, the car can be driven with low speed.
Also it goes without any shake and it brings big comfort to people it carries
and confidence to the bodyguards that surrounds the car.
Thus the bodyguards feel relieved even for a little.
And by the way, this car has a system also, called as double horn and the sound of it incredibly high
so it can scare a person seriously who passes close to it.
These honks can be set with this button easily.
it has double sound.
Now let's listen the second horn.
Of course it is interesting that using vastly different systems on the car such as hydraulic system and electrical system;
the car has also hand controlled system. As you see vent windows
are pretty good for getting some air.
We have tiny side mirrors. It is quiet surprising that using these tiny mirrors -literally looks like make up mirrors-
in this enormous vehicle. And look,
he mobility of mirrors is quiet limited.
So there is not a big feature at its mirrors.
To be honest, if they were connected to a electrical system it would better.
However, in everything there are little imperfection
but we can say this is Pullman's some kind of "birth mark".
Okay, let's show the hand guide that is inside of glove box.
As you see, there are license of car and almost unused hand guides.
As seen everything is preserved here nicely. There is Mercedes Benz 600 SWB figure on the cover of it
and inside there are service points at Turkey, actually whole World is seen.
As you can see, Mengerler, Otomarsan and other Mercedes service points at cities.
Also it is explained well if it is for truck or automobile.
And look they put the map of Turkey, comprehensive hand guide
as you can see and everything is original even the plastic bag has Mercedes logo on it.
So basically everything is detailed and originally kept as you see.
And now we have one more surprise for you.
Yes, now our second surprise, second Pullman.
As you can see we have one more Pullman and this is year 1969 and has 89.000 kilometers.
The other one was 1977 and has 36.000 kilometers on it.
Now this car's condition is not as good as the other one but at the end of the day it is still a Pullman and has different combination .
. The back side of it, let's brighten here with the flashlight, the back seats are covered with velvet as we can see.
Plus, at the middle section there is nothing such as fridge or other equipment but it looks like they disassemble it.
Velvet and more different style but all the hydraulic system is available at this vehicle too.
All those buttons and keys are showing it with an obvious way. And also the curtains are here too.
so pretty.
The color design is different and everything is okay but as we said it is quiet different than the other 600's condition.
Let's look at the dashboard of it.
There is a remarkable difference,
front seats are leather,
the steering wheel is white and the whole cream toned leather parts are chosen as gray at this car.
Also, the texture of the wooden trims are different too.
At the end, these cars had features that can get personalized unlimitedly
and at this vehicle it shows itself with being completely different.
At the other car the mat was cream color but at this car it has darker tones, like darker gray.
And also there is a sun roof can be found at this car, in fact it is huge
we didn't have it at our other car.
At the ceremony saluting the crowd from here was available, let's show from bottom too.
It is quiet big sunroof like 50-60 centimeters wide and this car is specific and unique by just itself.
Further it is older by year, let's take a little look, the rims also got detached
but the hump sound of doors is still remaining.
Let's try again on this, yes, as it seen the thud sound is still can be heard.
At this car they made some changes like this, look at here you can see the first appearance of car.
The headlights are detached, you can see how bad it looks, they took it.
I guess, they used the two pieced headlights of 300SEL because of the original headlights were not found.

These cars are used for a long time by Presidency, Republic of Turkey.
However, before a certain time they have been sold.
Respectively at the periods of Cevdet Sunay, Fahri Korutürk, Kenan Evren, Turgut Özal, Süleyman Demirel, those two 600's were used actively.
And now we finished our review with 600 Pullmans.
We witnessed how much it is precious for Mercedes-Benz
and also used actively for a long period by Presidency of Republic of Turkey in its history.
Actually we wanted to make a driving test by Pullman too,
however; because of the bad situation of the weather we were not able to do it.
But; we are thinking about meeting with this car again
and doing driving test for you at summer session.
