N. Korean cheering squad sightseeing in Gangneung on Tuesday - Duration: 0:34.

The visiting cheering squad from Pyongyang is getting their first tour around one of

the Olympic host cities, Gangneung.

Their first destination, Gyeongpo Beach... where dozens of spectators and reporters were

waiting to catch a glimpse of them.

The cheerleaders didn't respond much to the reporters' questions, saying simply that it

was nice to be out, while jokingly complaining that it's hard to enjoy the view with the

press in the way.

After having lunch at a local convention center,... the North Koreans toured the Ojukheon House,

where one of Korea's most famous scholars was born.

Photo exhibition charting PyeongChang's journey to 2018 host city opens in Gangneung - Duration: 2:39.

While soaking in the excitement of the winter olympics, it's easy to forget the effort required

to win the hosting rights to such a prestigious event.

The Pyeongchang Games are the triumphant conclusion of a tireless campaign stretching back almost

15 years.

Won Jung-hwan takes us to a special photo exhibition in Gangnueng, for a journey of

numbing lows and dizzying highs captured along the way.

The opening ceremony of a sports photo exhibition has held at Gangneung City Hall on Monday

to commemorate the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

The exhibition -- jointly hosted by the Korea Sports Press Union and the International Sports

Press Association -- is being held under the theme of 'The Best Moments of the IOC, ANOC

and Korea Sports History'.

The president of the International Sports Press Association explained why he thinks

the exhibition is important.

"Especially in the moment of digital life, photo are very important,… and through this

photo there is the history,… history of how PyeongChang became a capital of sports

for a while, after the experience you have added in 1988 in Seoul."

The exhibition documents South Korea's remarkable journey to host PyeongChang 2018 since its

very first bid... all the way back in 2004.

While PyeongChang lost in the final rounds of voting to Vancouver and Sochi for the 2010

and 2014 Games,… it was third time lucky for PyeongChang in Durban in 2011.

Chang Ung, the North Korean representative to the IOC, expressed his appreciation for

a fascinating look back at time.

"The exhibition portrays photographer Kim Min-jae's lifelong work.

It's a touching catalogue of an important period of Korea's history.

I hope you take care of it well."

Chang also said he was touched by the joint march of Koreas' athletes at the opening ceremony

of the Olympics.

The Gangneung exhibition tops off what has been a remarkable 14-year-long journey of

determination for PyeongChang, which picked itself up despite two setbacks and is now

showing the world why it was the right choice for the 2018 Olympics.

"People say 'third time's a charm',… PyeongChang won the right to host the Winter Olympics

on its third attempt.

Although the 57 photos in this exhibition can't show the whole of PyeongChang's remarkable

Olympic journey, it can give visitors a glimpse of effort and dedication needed to bring the

Winter Olympics to this corner of Korea.

Kim Jong-un expresses desire for further 'reconciliation and dialogue' efforts with South Korea - Duration: 1:43.

Kim Jong-un pledged to carry on the positive momentum from the Olympics and build on the

reconciliatory mood.

The regime's leader reportedly expressed these thoughts while welcoming back the North's

delegation to the winter games down South.

Kwon Jang-ho tells us more.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un welcomed back the high-level delegation that he had sent

to the South for the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

According to North Korean state media reports, he said he was satisfied with the outcomes

of their trip, and also expressed gratitude towards South Korea for hosting them.

Moreover, he stated his desire to continue improving inter-Korean relations.

He said, "it is important to continue making good results by further livening up the warm

climate of reconciliation and dialogue created by... the Winter Olympics as a momentum."

He is also said to have given important instructions "to take practical measures for it."

The delegation was led by the North's nominal head of the state, Kim Yong-nam, and Kim Jong-un's

sister, Kim Yo-jung.

They returned to Pyongyang on Monday after a four-day trip, during which they met with

President Moon Jae-in a number of times and delivered Kim's invitation to visit the North.

President Moon said in response that he hoped the right conditions are met so that such

a visit could go ahead.

North Korean state media also reported on Tuesday that Kim welcomed back the arts troupe

that had been sent to the South as well.

He congratulated them on their successful performances and thanked them for conveying

the 'warm mind' of the North Korean people, who wish for a successful Winter Olympics,

as well as reconciliation.

He was also said to have been pleased that the South Korean people, as well as President

Moon, responded warmly to the troupe's performances.

S. Korea's defense authorities silent on whether Seoul-Washington drills will take place... - Duration: 2:09.

After Pyongyang invited president Moon Jae-in to North Korea,... Seoul's defense authorities

are quiet... on whether their combined military exercise with the U.S. will be held as scheduled.

Oh Jung-hee delves deeper into whether the drills could be delayed again.

With the prospects of an inter-Korean summit rising,...

South Korean authorities are silent on whether Seoul's joint military drills with the U.S.

will take place as scheduled.

The drills -- Key Resolve and Foal Eagle -- which were to kick off in late February or early

March... were postponed until after the PyeongChang Winter Olympics... which, the two countries

said, was to ensure the safety of the Games.

"South Korea's defense authorities were adamant that Seoul-Washington joint military drills

would take place after the Olympics.

But now... they're being tight-lipped,... not saying exactly when the drills will take

place... or even confirming that they will be held."

The general view was that the drills would take place in April.

But on Tuesday, when asked whether drill schedules could change in accordance with further engagement

with Pyongyang,... or whether the drills would even take place this year,... the defense

ministry spokesperson refused to give a clear-cut answer.

"We will tell you at the appropriate time."

And this is why speculation is rising that the Seoul-Washington joint military drills

could be further postponed or at least scaled down.

And fueling such speculation is a North Korean report... that Pyongyang won't go ahead with

provocations for the time being.

Chosun Sinbo, a newspaper published by North Koreans in Japan, reported... it is reasonable

to say Pyongyang won't conduct nuclear tests or missile launches as long as efforts to

improve ties continue between the two Koreas.

The paper also stressed... that Seoul-Washington joint military drills would only provoke North

Korea to continue its weapons program.

The South Korea-U.S. Combined Forces Command says there's no change in the U.S. position

on the drills.

Washington plans to hold the drills at the scheduled time, and on the originally planned

scale.
