If you want to download windows live movie maker.
Go to this site and click on download link.
Once the download completes, click on it to begin the installation.
Click on yes button.
Click on skip this installation.
Click on choose the programs you want to install, unselect the other options don't uncheck this
option.
Now click on install button.
Once done click on close button.
To start the movie maker , click on start button, scroll till you see the icon of movie
maker, click on it to open.
So this is our movie maker editor.
This is our interface of movie maker editor.
Just like other windows application it have a title bar.
The title bar contains the name of the project by default name of the project is set to My
Movie, which we can change later on.
On the top left corner we got this quick access toolbar you can customize this toolbar as
per your need.
For that click on this arrow and click on the options which you want on toolbar.
If you don't want this options on toolbar unselect it.
If you want you can change the position of the quick access toolbar for that click on
this arrow and click on show below the ribbon.
If you want to put it back to it's original position click on the arrow and click on show
above the ribbon, By the way this thing from here to here is
call the ribbon.
If you want you can minimize the ribbon for that click on the arrow and click on minimize
the ribbon.
To expand it again click on the same arrow and uncheck the minimize the ribbon option.
Same way you can click on this arrow to minimize or expand the ribbon.
On the top right corner you can see we got these three little buttons here just like
other windows applications, to minimize, maximize and restore and to close the application.
Under title bar we got these tabs here, each with specific purpose.
Like this one is for animations, this one is for visual effects and so on.
Don't worry about all these options right now, because we are going to see each of them
in detail when we will start to work on our project.
On the left side you see this black box here it is call the preview window.
You can see how your video is taking shape in this preview window.
Whatever effect you apply here on timeline you can check them immediately in preview
window.
For that we got this three buttons here under preview window.
This one is to go backward in your video, this one is to go forward in your video and
this one is to play and pause the video, and you see this little option here it is call
preview full screen, so you can preview your video in full screen mode.
On the right side we got this main area of movie maker it is call timeline , from movie
maker's previous versions it is call the timeline you can call it work pane , work area call
it whatever you like but this one is the main area of the movie maker as it holds all the
assets of our project like videos,photos, music, text and everything.
You see this little line here between preview window and timeline you can drag it to this
side to increase the preview window size, and you can drag it to this side to increase
the timeline size.
At the bottom we have this status bar it shows how many pictures or how many video clips
we have on timeline.
And suppose if you are importing a very big video file it shows a little progress bar
to indicate how much video we have imported on timeline.
On the bottom right corner we got this thumbnail size and zoom in and zoom out timeline scale
option this options are inactive right now but when we will start to work on our project
they will get active.
So this is the interface of the movie maker.
In this part we are going to see how to add videos and photos on timeline.
There are three different ways for that so we are going to see each of them one by one.
So first one is this, when you start a new project you can click on timeline option and
this will bring the dialog box add videos and photos, go to the folder where you have
kept the pictures, select one picture or multiple as per your need and click on open button.
You can zoom time scale in or out from here.
There is second option to add videos and photos on timeline for that on home tab click on
add videos and photos go to the folder where you have kept the photos click on it and click
on open button.
Now there is a third way to add videos and photos on timeline for that open the folder
where you have kept the videos and photos select them and drag and drop them directly
on the timeline.
Using same ways you can add videos on timeline just go to the folder where you have kept
the videos select them and click on open button.
You see this progress bar here it is indicating how much video has been imported on timeline.
Okay so these are the ways to add videos and photos on timeline.
Now here is the main thing we have to do now click on the file menu and click on save project.
Go to the folder where you want to save the project and give it a suitable name
and click on save button.
You can see our project name appear on the title bar.
Now if you want to start the blank new project , click on the file menu click on new project.
And if you want to open previously saved project click on file menu and click on open project,
go to the folder where you have kept the project click on the name of the project and click
on open button.
Suppose you are creating a slide show type of a video and if you want to increase the
duration of your picture for that double click on the picture under video tools on edit tab
click on the duration and click on the number , from here you can increase or decrease the
duration of your picture.
To check the video clip click on the play button under preview window.
you can see this is the normal speed video.
If you want to increase the speed of the video and make it a fast motion double click on
it under video tools on edit tab click on the speed option..
By default 1x speed is chosen.
To make a fast motion video you have to select the speed greater than the 1x.
So let's set it to 8x.
Click on the play button in preview window to check it.
Did you see anything , that was very fast.
To make a slow motion video double click on the video clip under video tools on edit tab
click on the speed option and this time click on the speed less than the 1x.
Now click on the play button under preview window.
Okay it is really ..... very..... very.....slow.
So this way you can change the video speed.
If any time you wan to delete some part of the video clip you can do it in movie maker,
for that drag this black cursor line to the beginning of the scene which you want to delete
or click on the play button under preview window and click on the pause button at the
beginning of the scene which you want to delete.
Then right click on it and click on split.
Now take this black cursor line to the end of the scene which you want to delete or click
on the play button in preview window and click on pause button at the end of the clip which
you want to delete.
Now again right click on clip and click on split.
Now select the clip which you want to delete , and right click on it and click on remove
or select the clip and hit delete key on keyboard.
You see this video have a audio here and I want to remove the audio from this video.
You can do that in movie maker for that double click on video clip under video tools on edit
tab click on the video volume and drag the slider towards the mute icon.
Now click on the play button in preview window , see sound has been removed.
In this part we are going to see how to add title, caption and credits.
As you know title appear at the beginning of the movie . So let's add it, on home tab
click on the title, click inside the text box and type the text
which you want as a title.
If you want you can change the font of it click on font family and click on any option.
Same way you can change the font size.
You can drag and drop this box anywhere you want on screen where you want the title to
appear.
If you want you can make it italic, and give it a color even you can apply a background
color to your title for that click on background color click on any color.
Click on the play button in preview window to check it.
If you want you can apply outline color to your title First select the outline size then
click on the outline color and click on any color.
If you want you can change the duration of your title, for that double click on the title
under video tools on edit tab click on the duration and click on the number.
by default this effect is selected for the title, click on the more button of effects
hover your mouse cursor on any of the effect and once you like it click on it to apply
it to your title.
Any time you can change it by double clicking on it go to the effects and click on the effect
to apply it to your title.
Now let's see how to add the caption, drag this black cursor line where you want the
caption on home tab click on caption.
Click inside and type the text which you want as a caption.
You can edit the caption text just the way we edit the title text.
And you can drag and drop it anywhere you want it to appear on the screen.
Only difference between the caption and title is you can't apply background color to your
caption.
Click on the more button of effects hover your mouse cursor on any of the style and
once you like it click on it to apply it to your caption.
If you want you can change the duration of your caption for that click on the caption
and click on text duration and select the number.
so this is the way to add caption to your video.
So let's see how to add credits.
As you know credits appear at the end of the video.
So let's add one.
To add credits on home tab click on credits.
By default(after clicking on credits option) we get this blank credit template available
at the end of the video.
click inside to edit it.
Edit the text just the way we edit the title.
And drag and drop it where you want it to appear.
Here you can give it a background color.
Click on play button under preview window to check it.
By default credits have the scrolling effect.
If you want to change it click on the more button of the effects and hover your mouse
cursor on any of the style and click on it to apply it.

So these are the ways to add title, caption and credits in movie maker.
In this part we are going to see how to add music and narration to our project.
To add music on home tab click on add music under add music from pc there are two options
so let's try this one first click on add music, go to the folder where you have kept the music
and click on the track which you want to add click on open button.
to check it click on the play button under preview window.
Did you notice the one thing this track got added from the very beginning of the video.
but suppose if you want to add music at very specific location in your video for that you
have to drag this black cursor line where you want the music to start.
And then on home tab click on add music and under add music from pc this time click on
add music at the current point.
Now click on the track and click on open button.
See the music track got added from the cursor point.
If you want to remove the audio track right click on it and click on remove.
Now let's see how to add narration for that drag this black cursor line where you want
the narration on home tab click on the record narration and when you are ready click on
the record button, to begin the recording.
(so this is the video about the ocean waves) and click on the stop button to stop the recording
give it a suitable name to your narration and click on save button.
Click on the play button in preview window to check it (so this is the video about the
ocean waves).
If you want to cut the some part of the narration right click on it and click on split.
Click on the remaining part and hit the delete key to remove it.
If you want you can add background music to your narration for that click on add music
and click on add music at the current point click on the track and click on open button.
You can change the volume of the audio track for that double click on audio track under
music tools on options tab click on the music volume and drag the slider little bit on this side
Now click on the play button in preview window to check it
and if you want to increase the narration sound double click
on the narration under narration tools on options tab click on the narration volume
and drag the slider towards on this side.
Click on the play button in preview window.
So let's add a music track to our project.
Click on the track and click on open button.
So this is the way to add narration and music to your project.
