Selamat Petang from Malaysia and welcome to our Channel.
today we are in Penang, for a Street Food Tour of George Town.
This food tour is self made, because we counted some tour operators
but we did not feel to promote them, and decided to make the tour on our own
let's see what's gonna come out from it! Penang it's an epicenter of mix of
culture and culinary trends, as Indian and Chinese and our first
destination is gonna be? Little India for Samosa!
[Music]
I'll have vegetarian samosa. so flavorful! Look: potatoes, lot of spices.
it tastes a little bit like curry, I think because they used the same prices
very rich taste and the dough is very crunchy and very light.
My time to try the chicken one... wow, so crunchy!
[Applause]
this is very crunchy. First time I taste samosa so crunchy. Usually are
a bit soft and spongy and this is completely crunchy: it's beautiful.
The chicken inside is melting, I feel a little bit of onions.
mission one: completed. Amazing samosa. What we can I have now?
We'll have fried oyster! [Music]
Here our fried oyster, look this amazing dish.
Oysters, lot of eggs, spring onions cilantro and a sauce.
Time to try... it's so interesting taste! Can't feel much
the eggs, the feeling is like eating dough,
or something very similar to it.
I was recording all the making, so I'm very very curious to try it.
Yulia's face shows that it's very tasty... It feel so strange.
Remind you of an omelette, but as a cream, Beautiful!
Mission number 2 completed. And now Hokkien Mee!
[Music] We received our bowl of Hokkien Mee,
look how rich this soup is. There are two types of noodles: yellow ones
that gives the name to the dish, and thin rice noodles.
Egg, crispy pork belly, prawns fried onions and small spare ribs.
First I will try the broth... it's thick gravy, very dark.
Wow! This is very rich fish broth. Now I will try all together...
I'll try to catch everything in one bite...
[Music]
I catch the crispy bacon, nice!
When there is lot of products in
a bowl, that's male's food! So I will take a big bite...
oh wow this is so rich! The egg noodles and the rice noodle they melt in the mouth
mixing the 2 tastes together with the fish soup, giving you
this refreshing hint and then you have the pork, and the pork...
it's always the pork! Mission 3 completed: delicious Hokkien Mee
and now we will have Nasi Dalca! Here is our nasi dalca,
is spicy chicken in thick gravy sauce. Let's try it! I see potatoes...
I'll take a chunk of chicken and mix it with rice that soaked all sauce.
It's very rich taste and not so spicy. "you should use some coconut paste"
So for me we got a bit of coconut gravy a specialty served here, in
this place, for the past 30 years. I will have a chunk of chicken,
the coconut gravy, and the rice...
Oh yeah, coconut gravy it's like a paste with little
chunks inside and it remind me... what's the Japanese green paste?
yulia: wassabi yes, similar to wassabi, but not spicy
just very refreshing! Mission number 4 completed!
And now Durian! This is durian, so spiky!, I didn't know!
I always thought it was like pineapple. I will eat it now,
they already cut it and clean it for me and I will show you how to eat it!
They even gave me gloves! Durian have a very specific and strong smell
most people don't like it for this.
truthfully, it smells only when is not fresh.
Just cut got a very inviting scent. Look this 2 big pieces,
cleaned from the shell. Oh my God, it's so creamy!
Even just looking at it
you can understand how creamy it is!
It smells very nice.
Wow Wow it's very fresh and it's and ready. So you can understand
the texture is melting in your mouth. I can't describe this unique taste!
All I can say is Very Creamy! This was our food tour we made for you.
2 hours and five different dishes. amazing experience for an average of
$15 between us 2. The tours operators ask between 60 to 70
dollars per person, so we weren't very sure to do it with them...
We had different types of foods. Dishes influenced by Indian
and Chinese cuisines, and also a beautiful durian!
