Waching daily Jun 27 2017

Welcome, returning subscribers and new viewers alike, to a new episode of Character Development.

Today happens to be a cause for celebration.

Why exactly?

Well, today marks a special occasion for Character Development as a series, as we've finally

reached a milestone I didn't think I'd get to after all this time.

Not only did the show turn three years old back in April, but this very episode happens

to be the 50th Episode, and I had been thinking of ways to celebrate as early as February.

After some thought, as well as reading through video comments while I was busy with sophomore

finals, I decided that the 50th Episode should be something that reflects all the progress

made after 3 years and 50 videos, and I do believe we have some unfinished business from

the very first episode of Character Development, on Utsuho Reiuji from the Touhou series.

Whether it's because of my nervous-sounding commentary, that it was made while I was still

learning how to use Sony Vegas, the background image that was an utter mess and honestly

more of a distraction than an aesthetic, the amount of information I skipped over entirely,

or how short the actual analysis was compared to more recent episodes, one thing's for

certain: the video hasn't aged well at all and there's still much more I can say about

Utsuho Reiuji, now that I've had plenty of time to sharpen my craft.

And since now is a perfect opportunity to capitalize on this idea, I'm going to be

doing something new for a change and remaking the very first episode from scratch.

I'm the Kitsune Hawk, and to mark the special occasion of Episode 50, we're going all

the way back to square 1 to revisit the character that started the series, the Scorching, Troublesome

Divine Flame, Utsuho Reiuji!

So get out your pencils, trivia enthusiasts, because this is Character Development!

Considering that this is the first episode I've done where I discuss a character I've

already covered at least once, I'd like to mix things up a bit so that I don't resort

to simply repeating the entirety of Episode 1.

So let's start from the very beginning, and go over Utsuho's backstory first and

foremost.

Utsuho, or "Okuu," as she's affectionately referred to, was originally a normal humanoid-raven

living in the Hell of Blazing Fires as a pet of the mind-reader Satori Komeiji.

One day, she heard a voice from the goddess Kanako Yasaka, telling her to consume a three-legged

crow named Yatagarasu and attain its powers.

Utsuho did as she was commanded, and from devouring the three-legged crow, she gained

its abilities to control nuclear energy and bring the Hell of Blazing Fires back to its

original heat.

From her basic backstory and name alone, we can get a good sense of Okuu's character

inspiration.

Her last name, Reiuji, if read kanji by kanji, translates as "soul, crow, path" or "spirit,

raven, path," in reference to her body being a house for the spirit of Yatagarasu, while

the kanji in her first name, Utsuho, is taken from Old Japanese, and it means "emptiness,

empty hole, or cave," either in reference to Utsuho's residence in the Hell of Blazing

Fires deep underground or to her body being a metaphorical "cave" for Yatagarasu.

And speaking of Yatagarasu, it's worth noting that it happens to be based on a mythological

creature common to the three cultures of East Asia.

While the Japanese call it "Yatagarasu," the Koreans refer to it as "Samjok-o,"

and the Chinese use the name "Jinwu," meaning "golden crow".

While these three cultures have slight variations in the mythos of this bird, they have two

primary elements in common: that the crow has three legs, and that it symbolizes both

power and the sun.

The bird's three legs were a symbol of power because of the trinities they were said to

represent: the Taoist realms of Heaven, Earth, and Man, or perhaps the three virtues of wisdom,

benevolence, and valor.

The bird itself embodied the sun, and was often closely associated with the phenomenon

that we know today as sunspots and the solar flares that they cause.

But what exactly is so important about a sunspot?

Well, strap yourselves in, because we're about to talk about the second (and more significant)

portion of Okuu's inspiration, nuclear chemistry.

Sunspots themselves are caused by anomalies in a star's magnetic field and are essentially

buildups of energy; when they finally burst, they release storms called coronal mass ejections

and solar flares, which are powerful discharges of radiation whose effects are capable of

reaching the Earth.

By fusing with Yatagarasu, Utsuho has gained a few attributes related to its power over

nuclear energy, namely the large instrument on her right arm, the concrete brace on her

right foot, and the ball of energy orbiting around her left leg.

More specifically, the instrument on her right arm is known as the Control Rod, and if you'd

like to believe it, it's supposed to be Yatagarasu's third leg manifested on Utsuho's

arm.

In the context of nuclear chemistry, the term "control rod" is used to refer to a particular

section of a nuclear power plant.

Control rods are tubes, rods, or plates that are made from neutron-absorbing materials

such as boron, hafnium, or cadmium, and they're either inserted into or removed from the reactor

core to decrease or increase the amount of fissions occurring within the core, respectively.

The higher the number of fissions is, the greater the heat of the reactor, which means

more steam and more electricity generated.

They also serve as a failsafe for the reactor in case of emergency, automatically falling

into place and cutting off the reactor entirely if the power goes out.

However, that doesn't mean that a control rod is an end-all solution to a nuclear power

plant emergency; in fact, in many cases, control rod failure or mismanagement can be the cause

of the emergency entirely.

The most infamous nuclear power plant failure thus far in history, the Chernobyl disaster

of April 26, 1986, has often been blamed on the control rods used in the reactors.

And speaking of Chernobyl, the concrete brace around Utsuho's right foot is based on the

aftermath of that nuclear disaster in two ways.

One of the immediate byproducts of the Chernobyl meltdown was a radioactive black, lava-like

substance made from reactor fuel, molten concrete, sand, and core shielding that mixed into a

deadly cocktail that seeped through the pipes of Reactor Number 4, emptying into the basement

and cooling into a material dubbed as "corium," but more colloquially known as "the Elephant's

Foot".

At the time of discovery, the Elephant's Foot was radioactive enough to cause cell

hemorrhaging within two minutes of exposure, reaching fatal levels within five minutes

of continued exposure.

Because of the immediate and potential danger that the Elephant's Foot and other aftereffects

of the meltdown posed, workers at Chernobyl decided to contain the reactor within a giant

sarcophagus of thick concrete, one of the few materials capable of blocking intense

radiation.

It could be, then, that the concrete case on Utsuho's right leg is a metaphorical

representation of the Elephant's Foot or the concrete shell designed to contain it,

perhaps even both.

As for the ball of light orbiting around Utsuho's left leg, it's what nuclear chemistry would

call a beta particle, a stray electron that has been separated from a nucleus due to radioactive

decay, the process by which an unstable atom breaks down over time until it reaches stability.

And on that note, it's worth pointing out that the three extensions to Utsuho's limbs

represent the three main processes involved in nuclear chemistry: radioactive decay, nuclear

fission, and nuclear fusion.

The beta particle swirling around her left leg represents radioactive decay, since a

beta particle is one of the three common forms of radioactive decay.

The Elephant's Foot that encases her right leg represents nuclear fission, due to its

association with the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, a fission-powered reactor.

And finally, the third leg manifested on Utsuho's right arm, despite being a control rod as

previously discussed, is stated to control nuclear fusion rather than nuclear fission,

thus symbolizing the last of the three processes.

Utsuho's strong association with suns further adds to the connections with nuclear fusion;

whereas nuclear fission is the process of splitting atoms apart, nuclear fusion is the

process of forcing smaller atoms together to form a new, larger atom.

Nuclear fusion creates far more energy than nuclear fission, though it also requires higher

speeds and pressures that are currently impossible to synthetically reproduce under controlled

circumstances, so it's currently limited to the sun and other stars.

Many of Utsuho's spellcards involve her using her power over nuclear fusion to create

artificial stars that quickly burn out and decrease in size, or give off photons or smaller

stars as extra projectiles.

In Hisoutensoku, her spellcards also show that she can imbue herself with fusion energy

and turn herself into an artificial sun, which only makes me wonder how anyone can stand

remotely close to her and still survive.

A few of the names of her spellcards in all of her appearances so far even lend themselves

to terminology of both nuclear chemistry and stars.

And speaking of Okuu's spellcards, let's take a moment to break down the background

image used in both Subterranean Animism and Double Spoiler for her special attacks.

The main background used is an image of the Carina Nebula, a nebula about 7,500 light-years

away from Earth and is noted for containing over 14,000 stars.

Considering the constant star symbolism with Utsuho, I think it's quite obvious why an

image of the Carina Nebula in particular was chosen.

It's also possible that the nebulous texture on her cape in Hisoutensoku is another image

of the Carina Nebula, but given the smaller size of her sprite, it's hard to tell for

sure.

Above the background image of the Carina Nebula is a spinning nuclear trefoil, an easily recognizable

warning symbol of ionizing radiation, the kind that can adversely affect human cells,

but curiously, there happens to be a picture of a cat on one of the trefoil's points,

which could be interpreted in one of two ways.

Firstly, it's possible that this is a further link to the Chernobyl meltdown in 1986; when

the disaster occurred, the nearby city of Pripyat, where many of the Chernobyl plant

workers lived, was evacuated.

When people returned many years later to inspect the area, a colony of irradiated wild cats

was discovered to have been living in the ghost town since abandonment.

Alternatively, it could be a reference to Schrödinger's Cat, a famous thought experiment

conceived by Austrian scientist Erwin Schrödinger.

Essentially, Schrödinger envisioned an experiment in which a cat was placed within a steel chamber

for an hour, alongside a vial of deadly gas, a Geiger counter, a hammer rigged to the counter,

and a small piece of radioactive material.

If the radioactive material were to set off the Geiger counter, the hammer would smash

the vial, releasing the gas and killing the cat.

The point of the mental picture was to explain the idea of superposition—that until the

observer opens the chamber to see what happened, the cat is presumed to be both alive and dead

at the same time, as quantum mechanics would have it.

A bit of a stretch compared to the Pripyat cat interpretation, but it goes to show the

sheer wealth and diversity of information that went into Utsuho's design.

While many of the characters in the Touhou Project draw inspiration from East Asian mythology,

Utsuho very strongly remains as my second favorite character in the series thus far,

because she not only takes the centuries-old myth of the three-legged crow into her design,

but also mixes it with the modern ideas of nuclear chemistry, both at their most basic

level and their most destructive level, making her very clearly stand out in a series with

such a large roster of characters.

It's easy to see that a great deal of detail went into the design other elements of Utsuho's

character, and I couldn't imagine the nuclear hell raven any other way.

And before I end the video off, I'd like to give thanks to those of you who have supported

the show with your likes, shares, comments, and episode suggestions.

I didn't think I'd get as far as Episode 50 without your help, and I'm eagerly hoping

that it'll be just as grand of a journey to Episode 100!

In the meantime, in early May, I announced that this episode would feature an art showcase

open for anyone to submit their art inspired by the show.

Please feel free to enjoy everyone's submissions on screen, and I've also included links

to places where you can follow them to see more of their art, including that of my friend

Soma, who drew the illustration of Utsuho used on the titlecard for this episode!

Feel free to commission him if you'd like; he's trying to get his art out there and

would definitely appreciate the help.

Until then, here's to another 50!

Thank you all so, so much once again, and take care, everyone!

A History Of Our Universe - Duration: 13:49.

A History Of Our Universe

It poured over us like a tidal wave.

What started out as a meeting of like minds had suddenly become life-changing.

A moment that changed perceptions of everything we believed, in what seemed like an instant.

At least it seemed that way, mainly because we were observing a stream of consciousness

a psychic download that was posing many questions about the relationship between

the nature of time and the history of our universe.

The information came from a channeling of the Sirian Elders, a 6th dimensional group

consciousness from the Sirius binary star system; but before we share their message,

my left brain wanted to search for validation.

Of course it had to be that I would quickly find a few recent news items that serve as

bread crumbs along a trail, right back to the Elders message.

What is validation for me is context for you and we present it here, as a guide to what

will follow:

Over the last year or two, there have been numerous, full or partial revelations that

would challenge the actual age of what is supposed to be our 6,000 year civilization.

Gobeklitepe: Archeologists working at this site in Turkey have found the remains of an

ancient city.

Excavations have uncovered an ancient pictograph on an obelisk which researchers say could

be the earliest known pictograph ever discovered.

Gbeklitepe is situated on the top of a hill about 15 kilometres away from Sanliurfa

in South-eastern Turkey.

The city can be dated back to 12,000 BC and consists of a series of circular and oval

shaped structures that were first excavated by Professor Klaus Schmidt, supported by the

German Archaeological Institute.

1

Bosnian Pyramids: Since originally discovered in 2005, over 400,000 people have visited

the sites, three large hills that some claim hide the largest pyramid on Earth (with)

reports by the BBC, Associated Press and ABCs Nightline (which reported that thermal

imaging had apparently revealed the presence of man-made, concrete blocks beneath

the valley).

2

The most important news is the determination of the precise age of the Bosnian Pyramid

of the Sun.

After radiocarbon dating (a sample) which was found beneath concrete blocks of the pyramid,

it is confirmed (that) the age (of the sample is) 29,000 years, plus or minus four hundred

years.

It is confirmed that this is the oldest pyramid in the world. 3

Antarctic Disclosure: are there remnants of an ancient civilization, miles below the ice?

If you believe reports in Londons Daily Mail or the whistleblowers who have been interviewed

by writer David Wilcock, scientists have been aware of something beneath the Antarctic ice

for many years We appear to have four layers of awesome stuff in Antarctica that we will

soon be hearing about in an official disclosure.

These layers are spread out in a total of about three and a half miles of vertical space,

from bottom to top.

The first, oldest, bottom layer is from the Ancient Builder Race.

It could be 1.8 billion years old, if not more.

It is a vast, underground facility inside the continental landmass of what is now Antarctica,

beneath the ice.4

Nemisis the theory of our second sun.

Nemesis is a theoretical second sun in our solar system, a dwarf star named after

the Greek goddess of vengeance.5 According to the theory, every twenty-six million

years the orbit of Nemesis brings it through the Oort cloud, a mass of comets and debris

out on the far reaches of space.6 The dwarf star causes havoc, sending everything in its

path hurtling toward the inner planets in a rain of destruction that can last decades.

The theory of a second sun in our solar system is not as bizarre as it might sound.

Binary star systems (two stars orbiting the same center of mass) are quite common.

In fact, Alpha Centauri, our solar systems nearest neighbor, is a binary system.

Astronomers estimate that around half of all stars in our galaxy have at least one companion.

Therefore, the existence of Nemesis would not be surprising at all, at least statistically.

7

Did other ancient civilizations exist on Earth before us?

Could we be living in a binary star system?

Is the focus of our thinking too narrow?

It is with these possibilities in mind that we now shift to the words of the Sirian Elders.

Use your discernment and try to sense if the information in the words resonate for you

or jar your cosmic memory from this or other lifetimes.

We are the Sirian Elders.

We are a group consciousness that calls to you through the frequency of the Great Pyramid.

As the life force of the Pharaohs left the planet and returned to their celestial

homes through the alignment of the pyramid and the constellations; so too does the information

we wish to impart to humanity return in a similar fashion.

Many are tuned into this frequency, as it is one of pure love.

The knowledge that we assist in releasing is within you, encoded in your DNA.

It is not only the history of your planet, but a galactic and universal knowledge beyond

what has been ever been revealed before this moment in time.

There is a solar and galactic history going back billions of years in the history of our

universe.

We say our universe because it is not the first.

There are many prior, future and parallel manifestations of The Creators imagination.

So, we will speak of our universe, whose essence was birthed beyond the Great Central Sun.

Dimensions of love and light and dimensions of duality; all playing out alongside each

other so that The Creator and all its aspects may experience.

The Maya call this Ahau, the I Am that I Am presence.

As our universe unfolded over infinite time, through Lyra, Sirius and eventually to the

far reaches of our galaxy, the physical configuration of what you call your solar system was different.

This was a binary star system.

Two suns, warming the planets and all their inhabitants.

The smaller planets, now known to you as Mercury and Venus, were inhospitable to physical life.

This does not mean they had no life as the essence of life comes in many forms and on

many levels.

The larger of the two stars lay beyond your sun as you now view it and emitted enough

energy to allow seven other planets in the system to all maintain physical life.

Realize, as you relate to linear time, this occurred billions of years agoinfinity

in reverse.

Many races inhabited and visited this system such as Humanoid, Feline and Reptilian.

These were intelligent life forms of multiple varieties.

Then, as now, duality existed.

Some of these advanced races wished to conquer and rule while others lived for service to

others.

Yet, what occurred to end that program had nothing to do with duality, but rather through

divine plan.

As the larger sun began to die, the various races realized that life would no longer be

viable on their home planets.

The more advanced races, wishing to save their civilization, travelled to other parts of

the galaxy.

They had correctly had intuited that their journey out was really a journey back to their

place of birth.

The feline race, living on what is now Jupiter, traveled to Lyra.

A humanoid race, our blessed ancestors, residing on what is now Saturn, ventured to the Sirius

star system, The reptilian race on the planet called Nibiru experienced a more amazing fate.

As the larger sun died, the energies of the smaller sun created a different gravitational

field, which began to change the configuration of your solar system.

The outer planets froze over and lost their ability to sustain physical life.

All that remained of their civilizations was buried under immense layers of ice.

Your scientists are aware that a mass extinction occurred over 250 million of your years ago,

but not known until this moment is that Earth was in a different orbit within the binary

star system and the death of the larger sun created that ice age.

The position of Nibiru as this occurred was such that it began to shift into an eliptical

orbit and flew into deep space.

This new orbit would greatly expand the distance and time it took for Nibiru to complete one

orbit around its remaining sun.

You may have heard of this legend through Zecharia Sitchins translation of the 6,000

year old Sumerian tablets; of seeding Nibirus atmosphere with gold particles, which reflected

escaping heat back to the planet, thereby keeping their race alive.

His is an accurate account, but the Sumerians only knew a fraction their vast galactic past.

Remember that time does not exist as you know it in the higher spheres of consciousness.

Dimensions, universes, galaxies and timelines may overlap and interact with each other.

Countless other expressions of The Creators imagination exist in the infinite logos, this

story being just a minuscule part of the divine plan.

Yet, it is important for it is a part of your cellular memory.

It was this shift in the physical configuration of the galaxy that The Creator used to create

another universal story: a universe that would allow free will as the primary construct.

The new Lyrans built their civilization and then slowly began to expand out into the galaxy.

Some went toward Sirius where they founded their own new world.

By the time they arrived many millennia had passed and our group consciousness had already

ascended into non-physical form.

Some went toward Orion and another group colonized planets in the Pleiades star system.

The Pleiadians would form their own unique civilization based on community, love and

honor.

As their technology progressed, they too would venture out to the far reaches of the galaxy.

Reaching out to where, unbeknownst to them, their ancient heritage had begun.

While the Lyrans were creating new worlds and new civilizations, the Nibiruans were

creating their own destiny.

Sumerian history speaks of the cataclysms that unfolded to create your solar system

as you now know it.

Nibiru, being in an unstable elliptical orbit around the remaining sun, collided with a

planet they called Tiamat, (authors note: Sitchin states that Tiamat was the planet

between what is now Mars and Jupiter.)

The impact caused Tiamat to break in two with half shattering, becoming your asteroid belt

and the other half being pushed into a new orbit along with Tiamats moon between Venus

and Mars.

In your frame of reference, this celestial event occurred over 200 million years ago.

It was this new dynamic that created the current parameters of precession for TiamatEarth,

and the other planets of your system in the orbits they hold to this day.

Eventually various races would discover Earth and begin to settle there.

The reptilian race of Nibiru, known as the Annunaki to the Sumerians, would return, colonize

the planet and begin mining for gold, which was in short supply on their home world.

Hundreds of thousands of years would pass with the Annunaki being the only inhabitants

of Earth except for the primitive beings that were slowly evolving over time.

Eventually, other explorers came to Earth and founded their own civilizations, beginning

around 200,000 Earth years ago.

When more colonists arrived 75,000 years later, they realized they were not alone and decided

to settle in an uninhabited portion of the planet.

Your Hopi legends are also tied directly to this drama.

The ancient stories of prior worlds that have been orally passed down through countless

generations are not myth.

Your lineage is of the stars.

We bring forth these ancient stories because it will be easier for you to understand your

process of ascension as humanity raises its frequency, as it has done many times before

in prior spirals of time.

Understand that while knowledge does not always become wisdom, you cannot achieve wisdom without

knowledge.

Instagram Stories - 5 Hacks to rock your Instagram Stories - Duration: 4:57.

Hi. I'm Tricia Clements,

Chief Fur Wrangler with MuttButs.com.

In this video,

I want to talk to you about five Instagram hacks

that you can use for your Instagram stories.

Make sure you stay tuned to the end

because I have a free download.

It is a checklist of everything that you need

to do on your Instagram posts.

[music]

The first thing is hands-free recording.

A lot of times

when you're doing short little video clips

and yes, you need to be doing video clips

as well on your Instagram stories.

The thing is, a lot of times well,

for Instagram, you used to have to hold down

the record button to get it to record.

Well, they have changed that now.

Swipe over to the hands-free

and you can then just tap it once and record

and tap it when you're done.

That's the hands free feature

on Instagram for video.

Make sure you're using that video.

One little tip I want to tell you about

is a PopSocket.

If you all haven't heard this

it is really cool

for when you are doing your own little videos

and you don't want-- You're out somewhere,

maybe you don't have a tripod,

you don't have something

that you can easily hold the camera

and take those videos, use the PopSocket.

See how you can grip it and lo,

I can take my videos really quick

and easy and grab onto my phone.

Before a lot of times

when you're grabbing your phone

you have to click it

and you're not sure it may slip.

Well, this lets you grab on to it and your thumb

is right there to hit the record button

and the stop as well.

Number two. Save those stories.

What you want to make sure that you do

is when you do a story, go ahead

and download and save it

because you may want to use that,

maybe not immediately,

you may want to use that at some point

on an Instagram post,

also on Facebook or Twitter.

Those are good things that you can use

on other platforms as well.

If you're doing Instagram stories,

go ahead and download them

so you can reuse that content.

Number three. On Instagram stories,

one thing you can do

is a really quick solid background with text.

That will allow you to simply put

a quick little note up to people.

Again in stories, they let you tell a story.

When you put your first post,

your second, third,

how many you want to do there,

there's a maximum of 10,

you can go ahead and in the middle of that

maybe tell them where the website

is you want to go, what you want them to do.

Click the link in the bio or guess what,

tip number four is in Instagram stories.

You can actually put a link there

and you can tell them to swipe up to get the link.

That is really huge that you can actually

have a different link on Instagram.

Put a link there in your Instagram story,

make sure that you tell people

to swipe up for that link.

If you are directing someone

to a specific product or service

and you have a landing page,

you talk about that and it leads them

to purchase it, go ahead

and put that link there in that story.

Number five. Selfie stickers.

I really like to use an app called Bitmoji.

You can create basically your own little emoji

that kind of looks like you.

You want to do that because you can then

add little different stickers to your post.

It will basically seem really personal

like you got your own little emoji.

When you post your stories,

they do post in order.

You can put in there somewhere your own emoji

telling them whatever

it is you want to add on that picture.

That's really great.

A lot of time you are going to use

Let's say you want to use a color background

with your emoji on there

and telling them about going to your website,

again they can swipe up and go to your website.

Having that individual personalized

emoji through Bitmoji

is something that's really cool.

Kind of adds personalization to your account.

I have a free checklist for you

that you can download

that tells you everything that you need to do

for your Instagram posts

to rock your Instagram account.

I'm Tricia Clements with MuttButs.com.

Thanks for watching.

I will see you in the next video

KAYN NEW CHAMPION ABILITIES PREVIEW - League of Legends - Duration: 1:47.

Hello guys it's Remus here and the new champion was just leaked!

Apparently he's a champion with 2 souls in him, Kayn and the Darkin Rhaast!

He has a scythe and an eye on it so probably that was what the shadow on the horizon was

about, even if he's not a void champion, we didn't see a Darkin since Aatrox!

This video was leaked and removed from a website and what we can see is that he can turn from

Kayn to Rhaast or to the Assassin form using his portrait icon while in the fountain, changing

his abilities.

He's a jungle champion it seems since he has smite, like they said in the post before,

and we see some of his abilities from the darkin form, that look quite similar to Yasuo's

dash and spin, and when he kills someone they leave essence or souls behind and he can pick

them up, probably that's how he gains power to transform.

So he has the normal form and he can transform in the shadow assassin by destroying the darkin

inside the weapon, or he can transform into a darkin by Rhaast dominating him.

Really interesting and we'll see when is it worth to transform into one form or another

and what are the bonuses for doing so!

We don't know the ultimate yet but the icon looks like an explosion to me.

So that's what we have for now, let me know what you think about him, and we'll probably

3 Steps to Stop Wasting Time and Increase Your Productivity - Duration: 9:26.

Uh, hey Marie.

  Yeah?

  Knock knock.

  Who's there?

  A little lady.

  A little lady who?

I didn't know you could yodel!

Hey, it's Marie Forleo and you are watching

MarieTV, the place to be to create a business and life you love.

Now, I have a question for you.

Do you ever have one of those days where it feels like you're doing a ton of things

but at the end of the day you didn't get anything really important done?

I can relate.

That's why today I want to show you a simple three-step method to making progress on your

most important work while at the same time training your brain to be more focused.

You see, we're living in a time when we

are allowing our brains to be trained to underperform.

We've become addicted to checking our phones.

Right?

To social media and all kinds of stuff.

And in doing so we are reducing our ability to stay focused and do the deep, important

work that we're meant to do in this world.

Now, you've got to ask yourself.

What do you want to say at the end of the day?

"Yay!

I'm a few emails closer to inbox zero and I clicked like on everybody's posts?"

Or do you want to say, "you know what?

I did two hours of really great work on my book or my website or my painting."

  I mean, it's a no brainer, right?

Of course the latter.

Now, what I'm about to suggest isn't complicated and it is not time consuming.

But it will require you to take back control of your time.

Take back control of this beautiful brain and trust that your world will not immediately

fall apart if you don't immediately respond to every ding or every buzz or every question

or every request.

It's just three simple steps and, I promise, if you use these three steps every single

day you'll not only get more important work done, but you'll start breaking the destructive,

addictive behaviors that are killing your brain and your happiness.

Step number one is do creative work first.

Now, a big mistake that's really easy to make in today's world is to try and do all

the little things and knock them out first.

And then you have this fantasy that you're going to have all this time for the big, important,

creative work later in the afternoon.

But have you ever noticed that this rarely friggin' works?

Am I right?

  Amen, sister.

I mean, ain't that the truth?

  Did she bug my phone?

Here's why trying to do all the little things

first is a really terrible idea.

Because when you wake up you have this full tank of cognitive fuel.

But what many of us forget is that we only have a finite amount of this super powerful,

cognitive fuel each and every day.

And every single time that you make a decision or you resist temptation or exert any kind

of self control, you start to drain your cognitive fuel tank.

I want you to think about it kind of like this.

"Oh, should I answer this email or keep

it as unread?

Oh, God.

Where should I make a reservation for dinner tonight?

Dammit, gotta reschedule that doctor's appointment.

Oh, yeah.

You know what?

I really need a haircut too.

Why is he texting me?

Where's that poo emoji?

Wait.

Heart emoji or poo emoji?

Ugh, heart emoji.

Oh, my goodness.

Who is Miss Cranky Pants leaving me this bitchy comment on my Instagram?

I knew I shouldn't have looked at this.

Do I fire one back or go high?

You know what, Marie?

Ignore it.

Go high.

Go high, girl."

  So you decide.

Do you want to use that limited cognitive fuel on something really important and amazing?

Or do you want to blow your daily wad on a bunch of dumb crap that doesn't really matter?

  Moving on.

Step number two.

Put your entire life on airplane mode.

So don't try and ignore your phone or ignore the emails or ignore the slack messages or

whatever else that you have that dings and rings and pops up.

That's like me telling Kuma to ignore this slice of salami.

Ain't gonna happen.

  Who can't ignore the salami?

Who can't ignore the salami?

Remember what you just learned like two seconds

ago about that cognitive fuel?

Resisting temptation is one of the biggest cognitive fuel suckers.

It's practically a guzzler.

You know what?

It's like the Hummer of brain fuel.

So rather than resist temptation, just eliminate it.

And that means you have to put your entire life on airplane mode.

Now, obviously turn off all the notifications.

So close all the tabs, close all the windows, turn off the apps, and especially for your

phone I suggest just turning the damn thing off.

However, you've also gotta shut off some people too.

And that means that you might have to tell your kids and your spouse and your coworkers

that for the next two hours or one hour or three hours that you don't exist.

Kind of like this.

See?

Nobody here.

And then finally our favorite step is step

number three: write a onesie.

So wherever you're working what I want you to do is remove everything from your sight.

So make it super clean and super clear.

So no books, no notebooks, no "to do" lists.

Then here's what I want you to do.

I want you to take out just a blank piece of paper, something like this, and then just

get a big, old magic marker and write the one task that you need to work on right now

on this piece of paper.

And we call this making a onesie.

You're talking about something like this?

  Oh, Jams.

That's amazing, but that's not the kind of onesie that I'm trying to teach you guys

about right here.

  What about something like this?

  Oh, Greg.

That's fierce.

That's a fierce onesie.

But that's not the kind of onesie.

This onesie is just something a little bit different.

  How about this?

Well, you know, maybe I can make an exception.

This is a very special kind of onesie.

Now, when you are making your onesie you have

to remember to verberize it.

Now, if you don't remember that episode it is below this one.

But here's the short version.

Don't just write "blog post."

That is too vague and it's not actionable.

That's not a onesie.

Instead you need to use a clear, directive verb like this: "finish the blog post."

Now this, my friends, is a onesie.

  Onesie!

Onesie!

Onesie!

  Yeah.

And what you do when you have your onesie, you put it right next to you like this.

Go there, little onesie.

And then for the next 30 minutes or the next two hours or whatever, you stay totally focused

on completing that one task.

And any time you start acting like a digital crackhead looking around for something to

click or double tap, the only thing you're going to see is this big beautiful one task

wonder: the onesie.

In fact, we believe so much in the power of

the onesie that we felt like it deserved its own dance break.

  [Onesie song]

  And

if you need a little reminder, rock on with this Tweetable:

  "Be a rebel.

Answer your creative dreams instead of your emails."

Now I would love to hear from you.

Let's test drive your onesie right now.

In the comments below, write that one task that you're going to put on that one piece

of paper.

And remember to verberize it.

And to my mom who writes everything in all caps all the time, I love you.

This one is for you.

I invite everybody to join my mama and put it on caps lock and write that onesie.

Make a Game Cartridge Hard Drive - Duration: 13:11.

Hello and welcome back to Switch and Lever!

These days, when you can play retro games on basically any imaginable hardware out there,

what should you do with all your old game cartridges?

Turn them into harddrives of course!

Now, let me get this out of the way from the beginning, obviously don't do this to any

game cartridges that has any sort of collector value.

The titles I used were picked up at flea markets, and have close to no such collector value.

In this video we will transform a NES, a SNES and Game Boy cartridge into portable harddrives

using three different methods.

The NES cartridge will be fitted with a 2.5" harddrive, the SNES will use a 1.8" harddrive

salvaged from an old broken camcorder, and the Game Boy cartridge will use a USB flash

drive.

To manage this we will fit a USB adapter to the first two harddrives, and a mini USB socket

to the flash drive.

So let's get started!

Unfortunately Nintendo cartridges do not use standard screws, it's a little bit like they

don't even want you to open them.

Common for all three of these cartridges is a six-sided star security screw.

You can get a special bit, called a game bit, for your screwdriver to open these screws.

But you can also simply file a nail or a piece of metal into a two prong tool which fits

into the slots in the screwhead and undo the screws that way.

It takes a little bit more fiddling, but works just as well.

Once inside, take out the circuit board, as we won't be needing it moving forward.

As we can see the 2.5" harddrive barely fits within the cartridge, and if we fit the adapter

on the harddrive either way we turn it will be too big.

Therefore we're going to localize the USB adapter away from the actual harddrive and

place it towards the bottom slot of the cartridge, while keeping the hardrive sideways inside

the cartridge.

To manage this we're going to remove the SATA connector from the adapter, and essentially

extend the connections using a ribbon cable.

Start with the very fiddly work of removing the SATA connector from the USB adapter.

There are 22 pins which each need to be carefully desoldered not to break the connector or the

board.

Strip the ends of a ribbon cable, and solder the 22 leads of the SATA connector carefully

to the ribbon cable.

Pre-tinning all the leads on both the SATA connector and the cable helps greatly, as

does working with tweezers.

Once soldered, plug in the SATA connector to the harddrive and lay it back into the

cartridge, figuring out how long your final length of cable needs to be.

Trim to final length, strip the ends and solder the corresponding ends to the USB adapter,

so you essentially have just extended the SATA connector.

At this point, plug in the harddrive and confirm that everything works as it should, and then

cover all solder points with a healthy dose of hotglue to hold everything in place, and

insulate the wires from each other.

Now let's move to the point of sacrelidge, cutting into the cartridge.

To make the harddrive and adapter fit properly we need to remove some screw posts and ribs

inside the cartridge.

Lay the harddrive down in the cartridge and mark everything that falls under it, so you

essentially can mount it flat to the bottom of the cartridge case.

This will mean at least removing the center screw post, as well as parts of the ribs which

held the original circuit board in place.

Remember to also remove the corresponding parts on the other side of the cartridge.

Plug in the adapter and lay everything out in the cartridge again and mark where there

USB connector and the two LEDs will fit.

These are the areas which we will need to trim down a little more.

Use round and flat files to simply remove a little material to fit the adapter comfortably

between the two parts of the cartridge.

Once done secure it into place with more hot glue.

You're going to be pluggging in a USB cable repeatedly, so make sure the adapter is secured

properly.

Plug in the harddrive back into the adapter and fit it back into the case.

As the harddrive is still a little free floating inside the cartridge case it may be a good

idea to use some cut pieces of foam to take up some of the empty areas, and provide a

little cushioning for the harddrive.

Once you're happy with the result, close up the cartridge and redo the screws in the back.

Even though you can't screw in the center one, as we've removed that screw post, it

will hold together just fine with the two remaining screws.

Wonderful, the first portable harddrive is done, only two to go!

Fortunately for us, the other two ones are much easier to put together.

So let's take out the SNES cartridge and get that into shape as well.

Like before, open the cartridge and take out the circuit board.

We're going to fit a smaller harddrive into this smaller cartridge.

This 1.8" harddrive has what is called a ZIF connector, for which you will need a special

USB adapter.

Luckily they can be picked up on eBay for just a few bucks.

They use a much thinner flatflex cable to connect between the harddrive and the adapter.

In the SNES case there isn't as much that needs to be removed, only the center post,

which can easily be snipped away with some side cutters.

Unfortunately though most ZIF adapters also double as Compact Flash card adapters, and

the compact flash connector on the circuit board makes the harddrive unable to fit in

the case.

You can definitely desolder this if you have the patience, or you can carefully snip the

entire connector out.

Just make sure you don't accidentally rip out any traces, or short anything out, breaking

the adapter.

Like with the NES cartridge, lay out the adapter, mark the USB connector and LED and file out

recesses to make them fit properly as well.

Go slow and in small steps and you will get a neat result, and won't accidentally remove

too much material.

With some effort you can make the fit tight and neat.

Plug in the flatflex cable in the ZIF connector on the adapter, and glue the adapter down

into the case.

Since the harddrive will rest partially on top of the circuit board make sure you insulate

the area where you removed the Compact Flash connector so you don't short anything out

with the case of the harddrive.

Connect the harddrive and like before, fit it into the case with foam spacers to keep

it in place before you attach the screws, and we're done with the SNES cartridge as

well.

Two down, only one left, and the simplest one so far; the Game Boy cartridge!

At this point it should come as no surprise that you open the cartridge and remove the

circuit board inside.

Since we can't fit an entire harddrive inside the Game Boy cartridge we'll go for something

much smaller, like this USB flash drive.

Even so we need to slim it down, to remove the casing from the flash drive, and fit only

the circuit board inside the cartridge.

It barely fits inside, but we will fix that as well, by extending the big USB connector

to a smaller USB mini socket located at the cartridge slot.

Unfortunately by fix I mean that we need to break out the soldering iron again, to remove

the big and bulky USB connector.

Using soldering braid and carefully lifting the pins using tweezers this should be fairly

easy work though, just be careful not to overheat the flash drive, so you don't damage it.

Take the female USB mini connector and solder thin gauge wires to four out of the five pins,

as well as a shield connector.

Refer to the schematic on the screen if you're wondering how to wire the connectors.

I didn't have the proper color wires, so don't get confused why they don't match.

Again break out our trusty friend hot glue to secure all connections.

Fit everything back in the case, mark, file, you know the drill by now.

Putting a small piece of masking tape down will protect the bottom surface of the Game

Boy case from getting marred, as you will notice that you're filing the tape and adjust

before you dig into the plastic, as long as you take it slow and steady.

Start by attaching the mini USB socket with a drop of super glue, and fit the rest with

a liberal application of more hot glue, especially behind the mini USB socket, to attach it properly

so it can take the strain of being plugged in and out.

Beautiful!

Screw it together again and all three portable drives are done.

However, there is one last thing we can do, because frankly, aren't they a bit boring

and non-descript the way they are now?

That's it!

They need new labels to properly reflect their new lives, a new shiny label for each of the

cartridges.

Of course, we need to remove the old labels first, and for anyone who's tried to remove

labels, especially old ones, know what a pain it can be, with labels which split into tiny

fragments and take forever to remove piece by piece.

There's a way to make it much easier though, with a slight application of heat.

Using a hot air gun, or a hairdryer, carefully heat up the label area.

The heat will soften up the adhesive of the label making it easier to peel off.

Do be careful though, and don't heat up the plastic too much, as it may damage the cartridge.

It should at no point get too hot to touch!

As you can see the labels peel off quite easy with even just a little application of heat,

and they're now ready to receive their new labels!

I won't go through all the steps of how I made these labels, measuring the label areas,

finding logos, looking at reference material, and quite a few hours in Photoshop to get

them to this point.

The labels were then ordered from an online service and delivered within a few days.

You may think that we're done now that the labels are on, and we very well could be,

but there is one little detail which could lift this project even more, and that is a

custom icon when you plug in your harddrive to your computer.

It's a very easy procedure, all you need to do is to place a file called autorun.inf in

the root of your harddrive, together with whatever icon you want your harddrive to have.

The autorun.inf file needs the following text, to make the .ico file work properly as a drive

icon.

You can find free icons to adorn your harddrives, folders, shortcuts and everything you can

imagine with a simple google search, or make it yourself using an icon editor!

Either way, there you have it, three new portable harddrives in a retro cartridge case!

I hope you enjoyed this build, and that you will go out and create new things based on

it.

I would love to see someone doing this with a other game cartridges!

What you will store on these harddrives is of course up to you, but naturally I would

recommend full seasons of Captain N - The Game Master, or other suitable early console

TV shows.

LOOK OUT! Trump Will Use TWO SURPRISING Words This Week We ALL Need To Watch For - Duration: 2:16.

LOOK OUT! Trump Will Use TWO SURPRISING Words This Week We ALL Need To Watch For

By Emily Nowak

The Trump Administration is kicking off another policy-themed week this week, this time emphasizing

the American energy industry. The President will be promoting Americas growing oil,

gas, and renewable energy sectors.

The U.S. is close to becoming a net energy exporter, and increasing energy production

was an important part of President Trumps 2016 presidential campaign.

President Trump has already reversed several Obama-era orders that have hobbled the energy

sectors, such as a moratorium on new coal leases on federal lands.

Trump is also expected to promote new technology for nuclear reactors and wind and solar power.

American leaders have been advocating energy independence for years, but President Trump

wants to change this to an idea of energy dominance where America not only supplies

its own domestic energy supply, but can bring an abundance of energy to the global market.

Energy analyst Kevin Book said of this new move:

Trump is reorienting our national rhetoric toward dominance. Captives crave independence;

competitors strive to dominate. Its a shift from getting by to getting ahead.

President Trump will be doing events that promote his new energy agenda throughout the

week. Of particular interest will be a speech at the Department of Energy on Thursday, which

will touch on the benefits of energy exports- strengthening American alliances, economy,

and overall global influence.

More events will be announced throughout the week- so stay tuned. Watch out for when he

says energy dominance- this signals a big, exciting change for America! And share

this 1 million times so everyone can see how President Trump is promoting American energy!
