what's up everybody this is Richard here
from MSI and we are back for another
MSI PRO CAST. We've been extremely busy here
at the launch of Intel's new high-end
desktop platform known as X299.
So today I'd like to take a few minutes of
your time and introduce four new motherboards
which launched earlier this month.
So X299 like X99 before is Intel's new HEDT platform
HEDT stands for a High-End
DeskTop meaning that the machines you
are building with X299 or what we would
also know as workstation computers.
What is critical to remember is that for each
different CPU you can unlock a different
level of support. It may look a little
complicated but to keep it simple.
KABYLAKE-X allows you to run
2666 Dual channel memory with maximum 4 cores.
SKYLAKE-X allows you to run Quad channel memory
at 2400 on the 6 core CPUs
and 2666 and the 8 to 12 core chips
and finally as far as the PCI Express
lanes are concerned the first tier
supports 16 lanes the second tier 28
lanes and the third a whopping 44 lanes.
At MSI we worked really
hard to offer the best X299 support in the market.
So now let's take a look at boards.
Ok, from left to right we have
the MSI X299 GAMING M7 ACK,
the MSI X299 GAMING PRO CARBON AC
the MSI X299TOMAHAWK ARCTIC and the MSI X299 SLI PLUS.
As you can see you can immediately notice
the characteristics of X299 board.
Each board has up to 8 memory banks that
support up to Quad-channel memory.
The socket here is the LGA-2066
and supports all the CPUs we've already
mentioned for each of these motherboards.
We have four full sized PCI-Express slots
as well as 2x M.2 slots which we'll
get back to later. And of course,
We also have some smaller PCI-Express for
smaller add-on cards further included on
the board, an internal USB header to add
USB 3.1 gen2 type-c connectors to the
front of your case and for the techies
out there this USB connectors using the
AsMedia 3142 controller for new X299
line-up we further improved our
motherboard design with each motherboard
you can choose a style that fits you personality best.
As from today, all
boards come with the Mystic Light feature
and the Mystic Lights Sync.
Mystic Light allows you to control the LEDs from your
motherboard to adjust colors brightness
and some pretty groovy patterns
On the other hand, Mystic Light Sync
enables support to extend
Mysti Light controls to other
components of your system. And of course,
if you sleep in the same room as a PC
like I used to it can be switched OFF
speaking of aestheticsI also need to
mention something special you did for
the x299 GAMING PRO CARBON AC motherboard.
On this board you can now
swap the heatsink covers of the ones we
included in the box
or 3D Print accessories to mount on board at the
3D X-MOUNTING solution.
You can already visit the dedicated web page to download
the STL files for free required by your 3D printer.
If you're like me and don't
havea 3D printer check on the internet
to see if your town is a Fablab or Hackerspace
I highly recommend these
organizations that they usually have 3D
printers that members can use for free.
So now the part you've all been waiting
for let's take a closer look at these motherboards.
The X299 GAMING M7 ACK is the
Enthusiast gaming grade motherboard.
For this motherboard we kept it to the
essentials of what the X299 platform
can offer but if there's one item to
highlight it would be the M.2 FROZR feature.
As a gamer myself I can't
use anything else to M.2 drives
and yes they get hot.
The M.2 FROZR is an enhanced cooling solution
for M.2 drives
what does it do you ask?
Well it connects the M.2 heatsink
to the cooler that sits on the PCH.
This increases the cooling surface and helps dissipate heat.
The X299 GAMING PRO CARBON AC
is a Performance gaming grade
motherboard if you are one who cares
about looks then this is the board for you.
With the included heatsink covers to
swap Mystic Light, Mystic Light Sync, and
3D printing accessory support. There will
be nobody in the universe with a board like yours.
The X299 TOMAHAWK is our
Arsenal gaming motherboard.
With the Tomahawk you'll find the aesthetics you
like for many of our other TOMAHAWK boards from MSI.
It has a rugged military
look straight out of a futuristic star fight movie.
Well at least it's slicing with
this great a motherboard you'll get the updated
Audio Boost 4 hardware for even better sound.
As well as some overclocking
features such as DDR4 Boost for your
memory and improved socket design by the
Turbo Socket for CPU overclocking.

if you are building
